Cheapest flights from Phoenix in August 2024

San jose, california.

San Jose, the largest city in Silicon Valley, is at least an 11-hour drive from Phoenix. August's lowest round-trip airfares cost significantly less than the nearly $180 that FuelEconomy.gov estimates would cost in gas for round-trip car travel.

Hopper estimated airfares between Phoenix and San Jose as low as $50. The low price for the route coincides with Frontier Airlines reintroducing flights between the two cities on Aug. 13, three years after the route was suspended.

The Arizona Republic found base round-trip fares as low as $38 for flights with Frontier for an Aug. 13-20 itinerary. Fares ranged from $48-$58 for most itineraries during the month.

The flight from Phoenix to Las Vegas is much shorter than the drive, and base fares for some round-trip flights in August might even beat the cost of a tank of gas.

Hopper forecasted round-trip fares as low as $56 for Phoenix-Las Vegas itineraries in August.

We found fares ranging from $46 to $59 on most days in August, mostly in the middle of the month, aboard Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines.

Colorado's capital city, about 70 miles from the Rocky Mountains, is quite the drive from Phoenix. Denver is about 865 miles away, and it takes at least 13 hours to drive there. A nonstop flight takes just two hours.

Hopper forecasted flights as low as $58 between Phoenix and Denver in August.

We found fares ranging from $58 to $63 with Frontier on most days in August, mostly during the later part of the month. Itineraries with the lowest fares include Aug. 13-17 and Aug. 20-24.

A popular weekend getaway spot for Arizonans, the Southern California city known for its beaches and its zoo takes as little as 75 minutes to get there by plane. Flying there is appealing for those who'd prefer not to make the 5½-hour drive or the eight-hour seasonal bus route .

We found $48 round-trip base fares from Phoenix to San Diego with Frontier, the lowest advertised price for Tuesday-Saturday trips. That's $10 lower than the $58 fares Hopper forecast for San Diego in August.

Los Angeles

Like Vegas, Los Angeles is a favorite vacation destination for Arizonans. It's about a 90-minute flight vs. a six-hour drive (longer with traffic).

Flights ranging from $48-$58 are offered with Frontier in August on a handful of dates. Only a few trips, including an Aug. 14-17 itinerary, are available for the lowest round-trip base fare.

Salt Lake City

It's about a 10-hour drive from Phoenix to Salt Lake City, compared to a 1-hour and 45-minute flight. August airfares are lower than the nearly $160 that  FuelEconomy.gov  estimates gas would cost for the drive.

Hopper estimated airfares from Phoenix to Salt Lake City would cost $59 round trip for itineraries in August. We found fares ranging from $48 to $59 with Frontier Airlines or trips on most dates from Aug. 17-31.

United Airlines ' latest fare sale is making it easier than ever to visit Belize. If you live in Atlanta, Minneapolis or Seattle, you can lock in major savings for travel in late spring and fall. We found fares out of some cities for as low as $266 round trip.

This sale isn't only notable because of its prices — it also has widespread availability. Each route had lots of options at the lowest price.

As with many fare sales, this one involves basic economy tickets. With United, that means you can't bring a free carry-on bag, so expect to pay around $40 each way to check luggage.

We found good availability in April on round-trip flights between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City with a layover in Houston.

This is just one example of the available itineraries we saw from Atlanta in April. According to Google Flights , this price is about as good as it gets.

The same great fare is available across May and June out of Atlanta.

There is also great availability out of Minneapolis for this deal. We found several itineraries from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to BZE in June for only $310 round trip. This is another great price.

If you can put off traveling until August, you can get an even better price. The same route between Minneapolis and Belize City is available then for just $288 round trip.

If you're looking far ahead, you can book an escape from Minnesota's typically brutal winter in January to Belize for just $266 round trip.

What about the Pacific Northwest, you ask? If you live in Seattle, you can nab the same $266 round-trip fare from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to BZE in January and February. That's a great time to visit since it's typically Belize's dry season.

There are many options at this price in January, but we only found similarly priced flights in the early part of February.

MSP to Atlanta was much better than Atlanta to St. Kitts. Paid $180 each for myself and wife for Delta comfort from Atlanta to St. Kitts. Seats were more narrow and obviously old and worn out. Tailbone is killing me. Seat would not recline. Seats behind reclined and we were not an exit row or in front of an exit row. Entertainment did not work in that the movie jumped forward and back and there was no audio. The plug in the arm rest was loose. Flight attendant tried “resetting” the video for my seat but no good. She never checked back. Someone else near me had the same issue. Touch screen was unresponsive. No where near as comfortable as MSP to Atlanta flight. 3 plus hrs. flight time without the basic amenities and not even remotely close to comfortable but paid for Comfort plus. I will be very disappointed if I have the same on my return “Comfort Plus” flight St. Kitts to Atlanta. At the very least my wife and I should be refunded for round trip “Comfort Plus” charges. The seats are too hard for long flights but otherwise- the process was smooth, the staff attentive, and there was to keep you occupied during the journey if needed.

They boarded passengers that sat in the back of the plane first, making boarding very efficient.

I didn't even take this flight. My plans changed and I couldn't get ahold of customer service and the website kept breaking down during the attempt to change the flight. I wound up taking another airline entirely and eating the cost.

Flight was good, boarding was a breeze, flight attendants were friendly and professional. There was a medical issue with another passenger and the crew handled it in a calm and professional way.

The net issue I had was with the gate agent. We had added a carryon to our boarding pass when we checked bags. When I got to the boarding gate the agent was rude asking why I had a backpack - I said I added it - even had an orange tag on it. She ripped my tag off and swung her monitor around to show me how she was right- saying it isn’t wasn’t listed - only a checked bag. I explained again that I wasn’t sure what the issue was but I wouldn’t have an orange tag if I hadn’t added it. Then she finally checked my husband’s boarding pass and found that the agent at checkin had added my carryon to his boarding pass instead of mine. She sent me on my way without my orange tag. Was a bit embarrassing for me the tone she used with me assuming I was trying to get away with something.

Gate agent asked if I could switch seats so a family could sit together. Agent moved me to a seat in the front of the plane, no charge. It was easy. The agent did a great job.

Every Allegiant Air flight I've ever taken has been delayed. This flight was delayed a full 2 hours. It was excuse after excuse after excuse. It was a flight from southern Florida. They made us board the plane on time, but made us wait for 2 hours on the tarmac. Because the engines were kept shut off, so was the air conditioning. One can only imagine how hot the air was in the cabin over those 2 hours on the tarmac, while in the hot Florida sun. Just terrible.

Actually, for the price, I'm willing to put up with a little discomfort (upright chairs) and at times inconveniences (like any airline), lack of entertainment (I can bring my own). My flight was non stop and smooth. I would fly this route again.

Hidden fees everywhere while we aware of the fees but it quickly added up to a premium airline. From 12+ dollars to pick your set to $55 dollars a checked bag. No counter at the Portland Airport until 2 hrs before the flight made it so we couldn't get anything to eat before the flight. Pre checking your bags wasn't working on-line or at the kiosk, so we had to pay extra 5 dollars per bag for counter checking. So after everything was said and done, we ended up paying an extra $200. Plane was nice and clean plane staff was nice and attentive.

22 hour delayed flight. I will not fly again. I missed training due to this.

Well my connecting flight was initially delayed 2 hours. Then it became a 21 hour delay. When I woke up the next morning the flight was then delayed another hour. I ended up missing a day and a half of training due to this. When asked if there was any way I could be transferred to a different flight I was told no because it was under a 24 hour delay. I will not fly with this airline again.

I was flying from San Francisco to New York and had a layover in Minneapolis where they refused to let me have my bag and charged me $65, a very bad experience for me

This flight was canceled after waiting for hours at the airport. We knew if was delayed, but were not informed of the cancelation in a timely manner. There were no Sun Country representatives at the gate to tell us. Finally, representatives from Southwest Airlines called out over the intercom asking for Sun Country to come up to the gate. After the cancelation, no one seemed to know exactly what was going on and we had to go to the check-in area downstairs and wait in line for any information. We were not assisted with another flight. We ended up paying a lot more to fly home the next day with another airline.

Flight was delayed due to computer issue. I was in line for over 2 hours to check in. Worker ordered me to incorrect line and wasn't until after two hours I was asked to get in a different line that would be faster because I already checked in. Just needed to check bag. However soon as I moved. My line started moving and everyone who was behind me got through before me and they hadn't even checked in yet online. Very unhappy and last flight I will take with Sun country. Flight was hot and uncomfortable.

Upon boarding, they tried to charge me $65 for my 20 in tiny luggage!!! E ven though I already paid $55. I got sick on the flight because the person sitting next to me stink really bad!!! He was musty!!! Horrible flight, I want a refund!!! $5 for snacks is a joke, snacks are free on other airlines 😡😡😡😡😡

Paid 16 dollars for "streaming" grade WiFi. It cut out 10 minutes after paying for it and wasn't even fast enough to stream 480p video when it was working.

1 and a half hour delay due to a longer than expected maintenance inspection, missed my connecting flight because of it. Spirit customer service at airport told me they can't offer me another flight until the 10th. (2 days later.) I was with my son on leave coming back from visiting family and had to check in from leave the following day. The gate attendants told me I could try calling customer service and they may be able to get me a flight that same night with another airline. I called and talked to a representative on the phone and they said they couldn't do that, only the workers at the actual airport could do that. I turned around and gave the phone to the airport spirit rep and it turned out the woman on the phone was correct and the airport rep just needed a code to use for their system to get me another flight. The woman seemed upset that she had to do something to help me and had the audacity to say "Maybe don't fly when it's so chaotic in the future." Finally I was offered a flight 24 hours later for my son and I and a hotel and meal voucher. It only got worse from here. When I got to the "hotel" it was so disgusting that I knew immediately I couldn't stay there with a child. I looked at reviews and saw it was almost all 1 star reviews. (Dirty, filthy, nasty, ongoing construction, bed bugs etc.) We walked down the road to a Fairfield inn and it was nice so we stayed there for the night, I just paid out of pocket. The meal voucher was one time use, even though it was supposed to be enough for both of us for a 24 hour period. So I paid out of pocket for two more meals for both of us after the meal voucher was used the first night. I tried calling spirit twice more to see if they could get us a reimbursement for the new hotel, both times after talking to a phone rep, they put me on hold to speak to someone higher up the chain, the first call I was on hold for 38 minutes before i eventually gave up. The second was for over 50 minutes on hold. Never was able to speak with anyone. Absolutely a nightmare experience and handled in the worst possible way by every level of customer service we had to deal with. Will never fly spirit again and now I see why so many people speak so poorly of them. I will keep calling until I'm finally able to speak with a management level representative who can hopefully do something to make this better.

Bad seat comfort and junk food for sale at high prices

It got cancelled the night before. there was no compensation. They said it was due to weather but my family flew on southwest and their flight didn’t get cancelled because of weather

Way better than I expected. The plane was so clean- the seats seemed brand new; although not super comfortable as they were lightly cushioned.. The crew helped me lift my bags up to the overhead bin which not many airlines do. I knew there would not be internet or food/snacks but you could buy some if you wanted .

Would have liked there to be a flight crew available so we could fly. None available so they delayed the departure by 10 hour!

Spirit cancel my flight. Many times happen in my travels.

The flight kept getting delayed until it ws finally cancelled due to weather. While the airline was able to get me another flight, it was not for two days, which meant that I had to waste two days of vacation. On top of that, the airline refused to provide any form of compensation for my inconvenience.

Cancelled after 3 hour delay with no aside from a rebooking three days later.

Flight was canceled as soon as I got to the airport

I was unable to check-in on your app at home before the trip. I didn't realize that you charged to get a boarding pass from the couter. I stood in a long line to check-in to be told that I needed to get in another line to get a boarding pass and that it would cost me. When I spoke with the lady at the next counter, she couldn't get me into the check-in on my app so she tried several other ways over about 15 minutes while others were waiting in line. Finally she was able to get into the check-in and then it took a while to click through multiple upsale options to get my pass. I thought it should be easy since I has a personal pack and no seat selection. I was traveling alone to attend a family funeral.

I didn't like anything about the flight It was my first time and definitely my last time boarding a frontier flight. Their counter agents need training and they need to learn to communicate regularly and respectfully

Booked two aisle seats and were switched to an aisle and middle. Not happy.

Our flight was cancelled and I spent $800 on a replacement ticket. No refund was awarded other than the cost of my original Frontier ticket. unacceptable...

The last time I flew Frontier was in the 1960s when it was a “real” airline. We flew this time because of the price & schedule. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Horrible my trip was delayed 3 hours, we already have set in the plane and they delayed the flight.

Frontier’s bag policy is ridiculous and they made me pay $100 just to bring on a tiny ukulele. They were rude and not willing to budge. I was quite frustrated

The worst experience ever!!! They canceled our flight when we arrived at the airport to check in. We asked why is it canceled they told us they don’t know. No apology, very cold and rude. We had to pay for another night at the hotel, we had to call out of work. We won’t be using them anymore in the future!!!

$80 fee for a backpack as a personal item is robbery.

Cheapest flights from Phoenix in July: Beach or mountains for $60 or less RT

Record numbers of travelers are expected to fly out of America's airports this summer, and they'll likely pay some of the lowest prices in some time for their plane tickets.

Airlines for America , an industry trade group, said government data shows domestic airfares are down 9% from 2023, 19% from pre-pandemic levels and almost 50% since the airline industry was deregulated in 1978.

In July 2024, people flyin g in and out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport will find cheap base fares for several destinations, including four cities with round-trip fares of $60 or less, according to travel website Hopper .

The airfares we found are subject to change. The lowest base fares were found with ultra-low-cost carriers like Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines; be aware that these types of airlines charge low base fares with additional fees for seat assignments, carry-on and checked bags and other amenities.

Cheapest flights from Phoenix in July 2024

The flight from Phoenix to Las Vegas is much shorter than the drive, and base fares for some round-trip flights in July might even beat the cost of a tank of gas.

Hopper forecasted round-trip fares as low as $50 for Phoenix-Las Vegas itineraries in July.

The Arizona Republic found base fares ranging from $40 to $49 on most days in July, mostly in the middle of the month, aboard Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines.

Los Angeles

Like Vegas, Los Angeles is a favorite vacation destination for Arizonans. It's about a 90-minute flight vs. a six-hour drive (longer with traffic).

Hopper forecasted airfares around $60 for flights between Phoenix and Los Angeles in July.

The cheapest fares we found are with Frontier Airlines, which was offering round trips ranging from $48 to $53 for July 16-19 itineraries.

Ontario, California

Ontario, in San Bernadino County, is about 40 miles from Los Angeles and an alternative to flying out of LAX. Hopper forecasted July fares as low as $60 from Phoenix to Ontario.

We found Frontier Airlines advertised nonstop round-trip flights between Phoenix and Ontario for $43-$48 on July 23, 24, 30 and 31.

Salt Lake City

It's about a 10-hour drive from Phoenix to Salt Lake City, compared to a 1 hour and 45 minute flight. July's airfares are lower than the nearly $160 that FuelEconomy.gov estimates gas would cost for round-trip car travel.

Hopper estimated airfares from Phoenix to Salt Lake City would cost $60 round trip for itineraries in July. We found fares ranging from $48 to $59 with Frontier Airline, for July 22-24 and July 29-31.
