Womens Safari Dresses & Skorts Read our Womens Safari Dresses & Skorts Advice Guide

  • Pack a women's safari dress and a pair of women's safari skorts to add variety to your wardrobe.
  • Ensure that you select women's safari dresses and skorts which are made in safari-suitable colours.
  • A women's safari dress can also be very versatile when worn with tights, as a longer shirt, or tucked into your safari trousers.
  • Women's safari skorts - which are a combination of shorts and a skirt, with the shorts inside the skorts - are great for safaris in 4x4s as you are able to climb on to and off of the game drive vehicle without worrying about your underwear showing.
  • While, by their design, both safari dresses and safari skorts do allow for a good flow of air around the body to keep you cool, it is still worth looking for styles made in technical fabrics simply as they are usually lighter, easier to pack, and perform better in the heat.

Pack any combination of women's safari dresses & skorts to get the following totals: Up to 4-day safari: x 1 to 2; Up to 8-day safari: x 2 to 3; Up to 12-day safari: x 3 to 4

Packing for a safari is a science: You need to be prepared for changing temperatures, high sun, and plenty of dust, as well as cocktail hour and a dip in the pool—and all of your safari outfits, plus toiletries and gear, have to fit in a soft-sided duffel with a strict weight limit. We polled our resident experts and trusted specialists for safari outfit ideas, whether you're staying in a luxe tented camp on the Okavango Delta in Botwsana or traversing the Sabi Sands game reserve in South Africa . Note that most safari outfitters will provide travelers with an itemized packing list, so check with yours about specifics (as well as any vaccines or medications you might need) before you go.

Getting there

Most safari camps are only accessible by small propeller planes, which don’t allow hard-sided luggage. Pack everything in soft duffels that can be easily tossed into the back of the plane or the back of a Land Rover (weight limits are strict, too, so make sure you check with the outfitter before you go). Our advice: bring along some low-tech entertainment and have your camera handy for the views. Go Pro's Hero 9 has built-in tech to help keep any footage you shoot looking steady, making it perfect for bumpy rides.

On a game drive

Specialists disagree on the details, but you’re generally advised to avoid red and white clothing (as well as anything Day-Glo) while on game drives because it can attract insects or make you more visible to certain animals. Instead, go for clothing in shades of khaki, brown, and olive, which help you to blend in with the environment and hide dust and dirt, and pair it with some sneakers with a decent tread (on most safaris, you don’t need serious hiking boots). You’ll also want to pack plenty of layers since it can be chilly in the early morning, and blazing hot a few hours later. Don't forget a hat to help keep your skin protected under the harsh midday sun.

Around camp

You’ll want casual, cozy clothes to wear while you’re lounging around camp in between your daily excursions. A durable sandal with some grip will work just fine, and don’t forget a bathing suit —many lodges or tented camps have gorgeous pools.

Safari chic dinner

Some travelers like to have a more dressed-up option for cocktail hour and dinner back at camp—think flowy, breezy dresses, flats that can withstand a little dust, and a warm scarf to wrap yourself up in. Jumpsuits are a great option since it eliminates having to pack both tops and bottoms for evenings. In terms of accessories, leave any really blingy jewelry at home and opt for a more simple, pared down look.

About Craig Boddington

Craig Boddington

Hunter - journalist - adventurer.

Craig Boddington was born in Kansas in 1952. As a teenager, when not involved with hunting and shooting, he spent a lot of time pursuing Boy Scout activities. At 17 years of age he became the youngest person to become Activities Director at his regional Boy Scout camp. Boddington attended the University of Kansas on an NROTC scholarship, graduating with an English degree and a regular commission in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from the USMC Reserves in 2005 with the rank of colonel after service in the Gulf War in 1991 and the Persian Gulf in 2002-2003. Craigs Current Roles: Executive Field Editor of GUNS & AMMO, Petersen’s HUNTING, and RIFLESHOOTER; and co-host of Guns & Ammo TV.

Craig's writing career

Craig joined Petersen Publishing Company in 1979, initially as Associate Editor for Guns & Ammo magazine. Over the next few years he served as Editor of Guns & Ammo Specialty Publications and Associate Editor of Petersen’s HUNTING , and from 1983 to 1994 was Editor of Petersen’s HUNTING magazine. In 1996 Petersen Publishing was amalgamated with Primedia, and subsequently InterMedia Outdoors. Craig’s current position with InterMedia is Executive Field Editor for InterMedia Outdoor Group, including Guns & Ammo, Petersen’s HUNTING, and Petersen’s RifleShooter magazines, and co-host of Guns & Ammo TV and Petersen’s Hunting Adventures TV. Together with his daughter, Brittany, he hosts The Boddington Experience TV series on The Sportsman Channel . Craig has published more than 4000 magazine articles; authored 25 books on hunting, shooting, and conservation; and has appeared in more than 500 television episodes. His work has been published in Australia, Canada, England, Germany, Japan, Russia, Scotland, and South Africa as well as the United States. This year Craig published a new book, Buffalo II! , a revamping of his original work, Buffalo! .  Buffalo are Craig's favorite animal, and Africa his favorite place.   The first book was written in 2006, and while that was only 13 years ago, Africa and the buffalo herds have both changed drastically.  Buffalo II! is available for purchase from the publisher (Safari Press, www.safaripress.com) or by navigating to our online store using the top menu. “I am a journalist. As such, throughout my career I have studiously avoided personal sponsorships within the categories I write about, which are primarily firearms, ammunition, optics, and hunting and shooting. My position is that It would be impossible for me to be paid to use products from “Remchester” and write honestly about “Swaropold”…and I never have. That said, it is obvious that the magazines I write for have advertisers, and the various television and other film productions I’ve been involved in have “sponsors”. This support is always greatly appreciated! As matters of both courtesy and sound business, products manufactured by print advertisers are likely to be written about; and sponsors’ products will almost certainly be used and discussed on camera. This is, without question, a fine line to walk…but not exactly the same as taking money to use a product. I am aware that this position is increasingly unusual. However, it has allowed me to write honestly, and to enjoy my many friends in this great industry…most of whom, at one time or another, have been print advertisers and television sponsors…or both…and may be in the future. Most importantly: After forty-plus years as an outdoor journalist, I have no problem facing my reflection in the mirror.” CRAIG BODDINGTON

2024 Easter Jeep Safari: Four New Concepts, Each with a Different Purpose and Palette

Posted: March 25, 2024 | Last updated: March 25, 2024

<p>Spring means Easter, and for the <a href="https://www.caranddriver.com/jeep">Jeep</a> faithful, that means the annual pilgrimage to Moab, Utah, for the Easter Jeep Safari. 2024 marks the 58th annual gathering, and, as has been the tradition for the past few years, Jeep has granted its talented crew of in-house designers the freedom to create a small batch of one-off concepts that express their artistic vision in fully realized concepts that might otherwise never make it past the drawing board. Plus, it's a great way to get some public input on stylistic themes, accessories, and functional add-ons that might already be in consideration for production. Here are the four concepts they cooked up for 2024.</p>

<p>We knew the creatives at Jeep couldn't keep their hands off the new <a href="https://www.caranddriver.com/jeep/wagoneer">Wagoneer</a> for long, and the Vacationeer is here to prove us right. And no, that's not a typo; the "ee" is a not-so-subtle nod to the Wagoneer it's based on. As long as we're pointing out the obvious, it would be pointless to pay homage to the Wagoneers of yore without at least a touch of woodgrain, and the Vacationeer wears it in the thin-strip style of select Jeep models from the late 20th century, including the low-volume Wagoneer Brougham of the early 1980s. </p><p>The custom exterior paint, dubbed Spearminted, is similar to the hue of the paint on the Willys Dispatcher Concept also found on this list, but it ramps up the spent nuclear fuel rod effect to <em>Simpsons</em> levels of iridescence. Larger wheel openings and custom body-side flare extensions shroud 35-inch BFGoodrich mud-terrain tires mounted to 18 x 9.0-inch 701 Method racing wheels. The tire and wheel package provide a 1.5-inch lift while front and rear skid plates help to deflect obstacles, and a front-mounted Warn winch and a trio of 11-inch TYRI LED lights provide peace of mind. Jeep's 510-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six "Hurricane" engine provides the power to keep the vacation rolling.</p>

2024 ncaa di men's golf championship: how to watch the selection show, schedule.

www safari dress com

The 2024 NCAA DI men's golf championship begins with a 2 p.m. ET selection show on Golf Channel on Wednesday, May 1. The championship concludes March 24-29 in Carlsbad, California.

Selection show for regional teams and individuals

  • Wednesday, May 1 | 2 p.m. ET | Golf Channel
  • The University of Texas Golf Club | Austin, TX (Texas, host)
  • University Club | Baton Rouge, LA (LSU, host)
  • UNC Finley Golf Course | Chapel Hill, NC (UNC, host)
  • The Farms Golf Club | Rancho Santa Fe, CA (San Diego, host)
  • Stanford Golf Course | Stanford, CA (Stanford, host)
  • Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex | West Lafayette, IN (Purdue, host)

National championships

  • Omni La Costa Resort & Spa | Carlsbad, CA

How the championship works

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals (not on those qualifying teams) who will compete in the finals. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals (not on those teams) will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals (not on those teams). The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals.

All 30 teams and six individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play. Following 54 holes of competition, the top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will advance for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match-play competition and the 72-hole stroke-play individual champion. The top eight teams after 72 holes of play will be placed into a bracket thereafter.

The 2024 national championships will be hosted by the University of Texas at Austin and held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

In team match-play competition, a total of five points will be available with one point being awarded for each individual match. Winning teams will advance to the semifinals and subsequently, the finals. The first team to win three points within the team match will advance, or in the case of the final match, be declared the national champion.
