For the shows, Gabriel will be joined by regular band-mates Tony Levin, David Rhodes and Manu Katché. Additionally, new music from the i/o album is being released on the full moon of each month. The March song release is called Playing For Time.

Peter Gabriel  first came to international prominence with the success of Genesis, a band that he co-founded while still at school. Peter Gabriel has revealed a new string of North American dates for his I/O Tour , beginning in early September and running through mid-October. Gabriel has also shared another new song, “ Playing for Time ,” from his forthcoming album, I/O . See all of the new dates and check out “Playing for Time” below.

Gabriel has shared the new songs “ Panopticom ” and “ The Court ” in recent months without sharing any additional album details. Ahead of the North America tour, he’ll embark on his previously announced European leg , his first shows in nearly seven years. The tour stints are connected to both the new album, on which Gabriel has been working for the better part of two decades, and a celebration of Gabriel’s landmark LP So .

Peter Gabriel Expands Upcoming Fall North American Tour

Peter Gabriel has announced 13 additional tour dates to his North American run in September and October. The musician, who recently shared another new song, “Playing For Time,” from his extremely long-awaited new album, i/o , will now hit cities like Cleveland, Dallas, and Denver.

Gabriel still hasn’t shared an official release date for i/o , which will be his first album of all new material since 2002’s Up (more recent releases, like Scratch My Back and New Blood , have featured cover songs and new orchestral versions of his own material). Despite that lack of a release date, however, Gabriel’s scheduled a full-fledged tour in support of i/o , starting with a European run in May.

“Playing for Time (Dark-Side Mix)” is a sweeping ballad that finds Gabriel, as he put it in a statement, meditating on “time, mortality and memories and the idea that each of us has a planet full of memories, which get stashed inside the brain.” The song features Tom Cawley on piano, while Ed Shearmur handled the orchestral arrangement, recording those parts with several players featured in Gabriel’s New Blood Orchestra.

Like Gabriel’s last two i/o releases — “Panopticon” and “The Court” — “Playing for Time” was released to coincide with the full moon. And also like those last two releases, Gabriel will release a couple of different mixes of “Playing for Time” later this month: The “Dark-Side” mix out today was handled by Tchad Blake, while Mark “Spike” Stent and Hans-Martin Buff helmed the “Bright-Side Mix” and “Atmos In-Side Mix,” respectively.

Peter Gabriel has added 2023 North American tour dates in conjunction with his next album, i/o .

A statement on Gabriel's website reads:

It’s been a while and I am now surrounded by a whole lot of new songs and am excited to be taking them out on the road for a spin. Look forward to seeing you out there... i/o The Tour will see Peter playing new material from his forthcoming album i/o , as well as delving into his extensive catalogue of music, with hits, fan favourites, and the unexpected. For the shows, Gabriel will be joined by regular band-mates Tony Levin, David Rhodes, and Manu Katché.

It certainly has been a while. This is the legendary musician's first tour since teaming up with Sting for joint concerts in 2016, and the first tour with his solo band since 2014. Gabriel's most recent album of new music, New Blood , was released in 2011.

The newly planned concerts are set at large-scale North American venues in September and October. Peter begins the tour in May, performing in Europe and the UK.

When do Peter Gabriel 2023 tour tickets go on sale and what is the presale code?

Tickets for the previously announced shows are now on sale. For the new dates, the general public on-sale begins as early as March 24. Presales for Artist and VIP packages begin March 21 at noon. Citi cardholder, Live Nation, LN Mobile App., and local venues / radio presales will follow. Keep in mind, each date is different and details are subject to change.

For the Citi presale, you can use the promo passcode 412800 , but you will need the card to complete your purchase. The Live Nation presale password is OPENER , and the LN Mobile App code is COVERT . The i/o album has been a work in progress for about 20 years, and a Rolling Stone article in 2005 claimed that there were "150 tracks... in various stages of gestation." Some of that may have been released in 2019 as a 60+ track compilation called Flotsam and Jetsam , that included B-sides, remixes, and rarities recorded from 1976 to 2016.

About Peter Gabriel

Peter Gabriel first came to international prominence with the success of Genesis, a band that he co-founded while still at school. Since leaving Genesis in 1975, his recording career has included eleven studio albums, film soundtracks for Alan Parker’s ‘Birdy’, Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’ and Philip Noyce’s ‘Rabbit Proof Fence’ as well as numerous live albums. His wider musical career has included multiple Grammy Awards, the world-renowned Real World Studios, the formation of the Real World Records label, and in 1980 the creation of WOMAD, the festival that has launched the careers of many artists from around the world and has just celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Peter Gabriel co-founded the human rights organization WITNESS (Witness.org) in 1992, the organization that pioneers the use of cameras and technology in human rights campaigning, and in 2007, alongside Sir Richard Branson, he founded The Elders (theelders.org) which was launched by Nelson Mandela.  In 2006, Peter Gabriel was awarded the prestigious Man of Peace title by The Nobel Peace Laureates and in 2008 was also included in the Time 100 list. He has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice. He remains engaged in a wide variety of tech-based businesses throughout a variety of creative industries.

First solo tour in nearly a decade runs into October

Peter Gabriel has expanded his 2023 solo tour , his first in nearly a decade, with a new North American leg to go along with his 22-date jaunt across the UK and Europe ( get tickets here ).

“It’s been a while and I am now surrounded by a whole lot of new songs and am excited to be taking them out on the road for a spin,” Gabriel said in a statement, alluding to his upcoming album  i/o . “Look forward to seeing you out there.”

What Is Peter Gabriel’s Next Tour?

“The i/o Tour” kicks off on May 18th in Poland and will continue in European cities like Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, and more. Gabriel will then head over to London, Glasgow, and Manchester before closing out the trek in Dublin on June 25th.

The North American leg follows on September 8th with a debut performance in Quebec City. Gabriel continues through Canada with stops to Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal, then crosses over to Boston on September 14th. He’ll play Philadelphia on September 16th and New York’s Madison Square Garden on September 18th, then rounds out the month in Chicago on September 30th.

In October, Peter Gabriel hits Vancouver and Seattle before heading down the West Coast to San Francisco. “The i/o Tour” wraps at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum on October 13th.

Update: Gabriel has also announced shows in Washington, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, St. Paul, Denver, Austin, Dallas, and Houston.

Unlike many artists of his generation, Peter Gabriel seems unwilling to rest on his laurels. Seeing him in concert now, he appears just as fresh and energetic as ever.

Of course, you'll be lucky to get near the stage, since he packs out huge arenas and stadiums (I saw him last at the O2 Arena in London).What you can expect is to be treated to his incredible, unique voice – undiminished even though he's now in his sixties. Add to that a mixture of his classic band members (especially for Tony Levin's fabulous bass playing), and younger musicians who Gabriel champions. It's often these musicians and singers who you can expect to see as the support billing on his headline tours, giving them generous exposure to huge audiences. Typically he'll play some crowd-pleasing hits, but don't be surprised if you're treated to something entirely new – even unfinished. I've seen him sat at the piano, singing and playing a wordless tune he's still writing; I've seen the band jam an acoustic version of "Shock The Monkey" – keep an open mind and enjoy something new.

The crowd these days tends to be older generations of Genesis and Gabriel fans, but there's usually a healthy representation of younger audience members like me. During the huge hits like "Don't Give Up" and "Sledgehemmer" everyone's on their feet, singing along at top volume.

Peter Gabriel's stage presence is perhaps a little toned down, but still features plenty of running, jumping, and even writhing on the floor.

He travels with a huge stage crew, so you can look forward to an impressive light show and mixture of video/projections across the venue.If you get the chance, grab tickets as soon as they go on sale, before you have to take out a mortgage to afford them!

As a start this was Sting and Gabriel together. Man - what a show. Not at all the format I expected. Both artists switched back and forth song for song. Neither left the stage all night. Gabriel sang Gabriel, sting sang Sting/Police, Sting sang Gabriel, Gabriel sang Sting, Sting/Gabriel duets. 14 backup musicians, an excellent stage show, all the songs you'd want to hear from both. Never a dull moment. Some of my highlights Games without Frontiers, Englishman in New York, Sledgehammer ( of course), Roxanne, Message in a Bottle , Desert Rose......it's a huge list... Almost three hours. Get a ticket. It's one you will remember.

What happens when you bring two pop legends and their respective bands together with unique styles celebrating each other's music through collaboration? Pure magic! The show was genius, with a great multi-generational audience singing along to every word. Beautiful tribute song to murdered member of parliament Jo Cox, "Love Can Heal," performed by PG. The choreography was delightful, and fun; these gents never take themselves too seriously. Audio and visuals were absolutely spectacular. Undoubtedly, a show I will remember with sheer joy for many decades to come!

I went to the show because I am a huge fan of Sting...Peter Gabriel opened show and Sting joined in second song and it went back and forth from there. Both men are legends and both were in great form - sounding great & appearing to have a great time together. Both brought their respective bands so 14 people were on stage creating at times an awesome wall of incredible sound. Go see this show!

This was by far one of the best shows I have ever seen. They have so many hits between the two of them... Peter joked what we would be treated to a full night of karaoke. They kept their promise! I am going back for the second night...the show is just too good to miss a minute of!

I saw him in the eighties. Amazing music and amazing lighting. At one point he was on an all-black stage but encased in a box of phosphorescent green light. The sound was also amazing. Maybe,the best concert I've ever seen and I've seen many great ones!

Wanted to see Peter Gabriel for decades and I was not disappointed! Together with Sting and special guest Eddie Vedder, he put on an amazing show with his voice as strong as ever. So glad I was able to check this off of my bucket list!

Great concert, musicians were greats, including violins and three drummers! Having Gabriel and Sting singing together and even performing songs from the other was great! It was a lot of fun on and off thr stage!

What is AXS Mobile ID?

With mobile ticketing through AXS, you’re able to keep your tickets securely stored in your AXS App until it’s time for your event and enter with a quick and simple scan. Easy!

How do I get the AXS App?

The AXS App is free to download and available in the App Store or Google Play. To login, use the same email address you used when purchasing your tickets. You can also download the Houston Rockets app to enter Toyota Center for events. 

How do I use the AXS App to enter the building?

• Open the AXS App
• From the “Home” screen tap the ticket icon at the bottom of the screen
• Login to your account entering the email address used to purchase the tickets
• (If you can’t remember your password, tap Forgot Password and follow the instructions sent to your email)
• Browse your upcoming events and tap the one you want to view
• Tap “View Barcode” and present QR code at the door to be scanned for entry to Toyota Center

How do I access my Parking pass?

Your parking pass for the Toyota Tundra garage will load like a ticket with a barcode to be scanned as you enter the garage.

Can I print my tickets?

AXS Mobile ID tickets are digital and cannot be printed for venue entry.

Are screenshots of the barcode valid for entry?

No, tickets must be scanned through the AXS App.

Can I have multiple tickets on one phone?

Yes. However, we recommend that you transfer tickets to each person attending the event.

What if I don’t have a smartphone?

Please bring a valid photo ID and the card you used to purchase the tickets to the Toyota Center box office.

How far in advance can I access my tickets?

Unless otherwise noted, tickets are accessible on the AXS app and ready to manage as soon as the purchase is complete. Ability to transfer and/or sell tickets varies by show and is subject to change.

What should I bring to an event?

• Wallet with photo ID
• The card you used to purchase your tickets

What if I need help on an event day?

Please visit the Toyota Center Box Office where one of our ticket resolutions associates will assist you.

How do I transfer tickets?

Transferring tickets allows you to send tickets electronically to anyone with a valid email address. Once the recipient logs in and accepts the tickets, they will be able to view the barcode.

• Tap the ticket icon at the bottom of the screen
• Tap "Transfer"
• Enter the recipients first & last name followed by their email address
• Tap 'Continue'
• Review the information and tap 'Transfer'

The recipient will receive an email with a link to download the AXS app and retrieve their tickets.

What is the venue Bag Policy?

Toyota Center encourages fans to travel light and not bring bags. Bags that are 5.5” x 8.5” or smaller will be screened through an expedited visual process. Bags that are larger than 5.5” x 8.5” but smaller than 14”x14” x 6” will be scanned through additional screening process and/or x-ray machines that will likely require a longer wait. Medical bags and parenting bags are permitted and are the only bags larger than 14” x 14” x 6” that will be allowed. This policy is subject to change at any time.

Peter Gabriel announced plans for his 2023 tour across the UK & Europe next spring. The tour marks his first solo shows outside of North America since 2014’s Back to Front Tour celebrating the era-defining album So.

.i/o -the tourwill see Gabriel playing new material from his forthcoming album i/o, as well as delving into his peerless catalogue of music, with hits, fan favourites and the unexpected. For the shows, Gabriel will be joined by regular band-mates Tony Levin, David Rhodes and Manu Katché. Full details on the i/oalbum will follow.
