Best Staterooms on a Disney Cruise

Disney Cruise Lines are perfect for families looking to enjoy quality time together. But with so many different categories and subcategories, how do you know which stateroom is right for you? Let’s investigate how to select the best staterooms on a Disney cruise for your family vacation.

Not familiar with the term “stateroom”?  Disney Cruise Line refers to the individual passenger rooms on its cruise ships as “staterooms.”  You might have heard these previously referred to elsewhere as “ cabins .”

The Disney Cruise Line offers four main types of staterooms: Concierge (the most expensive ), Veranda, Oceanview, and Inside (the least expensive). In each category and within each ship, there are different options (subcategories). Category 1 is typically the most costly, followed by Category 2, etc. Category 11 is the least expensive. Within each category, subcategory A is typically more expensive than subcategory B, and so on.

The amenities and size of the room usually correspond to the price, with Category 1 being the biggest and best while Category 11 has the smallest rooms with the fewest features.

Within each numbered category, the letter subcategories typically designate more preferable locations on the ship’s deck plan (rather than differences in stateroom amenities).  For example, a 4A stateroom might be in a better location than a 4C stateroom, but the interiors of both staterooms will be virtually identical. Note that some Concierge staterooms are an exception to this rule; Category 1A is a drastically different stateroom versus Category 1B.

Generally speaking, rooms located on higher decks or the middle of each deck plan (known as midship or mid ) are considered more preferable than lower decks or staterooms that are forward (front of the ship) or aft (rear of the ship). Which side of the ship the room is on (port side or starboard side) generally does not factor into stateroom category.

Also note that some stateroom categories cater to different travel parties. Some staterooms might only sleep up to a family of four , whereas others can hold five or more.

Please note that this guide does not include accessible suites , which offer the same level of convenience and comfort to guests with disabilities. For questions about accessible suites or any of the below-listed rooms, please get in touch with The Vacationeer .

Their team of experienced Disney travel agents will help you find the best itineraries at the lowest price, and there’s never an additional charge for their services.

Now, let’s look at the best staterooms on a Disney Cruise ship .

Concierge Staterooms (Most Expensive Main Category)

DCL Concierge Wish Tower Suite

The Concierge category offers the most luxurious – and expensive – accommodations on Disney Cruise Line. Each room has a large private verandah and premium amenities and services.

The Concierge Wish Tower Suite and the Concierge Royal Suite are the ship’s most spacious and lavishly appointed rooms. Additionally, the Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite is a more modestly priced option that still offers an incredible experience. For families, the Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom provides plenty of space and convenient access to all of the ship’s family-friendly amenities.

Concierge-level staterooms in categories 1, 2, and 3 include additional perks , such as access to priority seating for excursions and events and exclusive access to the Concierge Lounge, where you can relax with complimentary coffee, tea, and pastries or enjoy evening hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.

Here’s a breakdown of the categories found in the Concierge category.

Category 1A – Concierge Wish Tower Suite (Disney Wish cruise ship only)

The Wish Tower Suite on Deck 14 and 15 is the Disney Cruise Line’s most luxurious room. It has two bedrooms, a space for children with two bunk beds, and a library that can convert into two more rooms. Aside from the four full bathrooms and the half-bath off the living room, the suite has floor-to-ceiling windows on both decks, providing a great view of the ship from the suite.

Eight guests can stay in this 1,966 sq. ft. suite. It has a wow factor like no other!

Recommendation :  The Concierge Wish Tower Suite is the perfect choice for families or groups who have the money to spend and won’t settle for anything less than the best. Nothing out-competes the luxury of this stateroom.  It truly is the best stateroom on a Disney Cruise.

Category 1A – Concierge Royal Suite w/ Verandah (Disney Dream, Fantasy, Magic, & Wonder cruise ships)

The Concierge Royal Suite with Verandah stateroom is the largest and most luxurious suite offered on Disney’s Dream, Fantasy, Magic, and Wonder. The Magic and Wonder ships can accommodate up to 7 guests, and the Dream and Fantasy ships can accommodate up to 5 guests.

The suite features a living area with a formal dining table and sitting area and a massive verandah with a private hot tub on the Dream and Fantasy ships. The decor in these suites is luxurious and tasteful, making it the perfect choice for those looking for the ultimate in luxury and comfort.

Recommendation :  This is the Crème de la Crème of staterooms on the Disney Dream, Fantasy, Magic, and Wonder cruise ships. If roominess and luxury are what you’re after, and you have the money to spend, then Concierge Royal Suite with Verandah is a great choice.

Category 1B – Concierge 2-Story Royal Suite w/ Verandah (Disney Wish)

The Concierge 2-Story Royal Suite with Verandah on the Disney Wish cruise ship is a luxurious and spacious stateroom that spans two decks (decks 12 and 13). The Suite features a spiral staircase, two large bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a large dining and living area, and two large verandahs with a private hot tub.

This stateroom is an impressive 1,759 sq. ft and can comfortably sleep six guests,

Recommendation:  The 2-Story Royal Suite is another fantastic offering from the new Disney Wish. Perfect for families and groups of six who want to be treated like kings and queens.

Category 1B – Concierge 2-Bedroom Suite w/ Verandah (Disney Magic & Wonder)

Disney Cruise Line’s Concierge 2-Bedroom Suite with Verandah features two separate bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, and a spacious sitting area.  The total area is 945 sq. ft., including the verandah, and can accommodate up to seven people. A large verandah is perfect for enjoying the views or relaxing. It is an impressive suite, perfect for a large group or family!

This stateroom is only available on Disney Magic and Disney Wonder .

Recommendation:   An excellent choice for families who want plenty of luxury and space. Choose the starboard (right) side if you sail to Castaway Cay because you will have better views of Disney’s private island when docked.

Category 1C – 1-Story Royal Suites w/ Verandah (Disney Wish)

With a classic elegance inspired by Sleeping Beauty, the Disney Wish’s 1-Story Royal Suites with Verandah are perfect for families and groups of up to 6. There are two bedrooms, a living room and dining room, three full bathrooms, and an impressive 1,507 square feet of living space. The wet bar is perfect for entertaining, and the large private verandah with a whirlpool tub is the ideal place to relax.

Recommendation :  These beautiful and family-friendly staterooms will make your cruise vacation unforgettable.

Category 2A and 2B – Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite w/ Verandah (All Disney Cruise Ships)

Disney cruises offer a 1-Bedroom Suite with Verandah for those looking for a little extra space and privacy on their vacation. The suite sleeps up to 5 people and features a separate bedroom, two bathrooms, a living room, and a wet bar.  The main bathroom has double sinks, a rain-style shower, and a whirlpool tub. A large walk-in closet provides plenty of space for storing your belongings.

The main difference between Categories 2A and 2B is location. Magic and Wonder’s 2A suites have a slightly different layout with a longer verandah. Dream and Fantasy’s 2A suites are located between the two connecting Royal Suites and the ship’s front center. The 2A suites of the Disney Wish are located on deck 12 and have a deeper verandah than the 2B suites.

Recommendation:  This is an excellent option if you only need one bedroom but still want plenty of roominess and class.

Category 3A and 3B – Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom w/ Verandah (Disney Dream, Fantasy, Magic, & Wonder)

The Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah on Disney cruises is a luxurious private room that sleeps up to five people. This room is complete with a private verandah with beautiful sea views and an abundance of warm woods and custom fabrics.

The stateroom features a queen-sized bed, a convertible sofa, a Pullman bunk bed, and a spacious bathroom with a shower, TV, and a safe. There are just over 300 square feet of living space. Additionally, families have concierge-level guests access to a private lounge and priority boarding.

Recommendation:   Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom is excellent for families that want the luxury and perks of a Concierge-level stateroom but don’t need all the bells and whistles (and expense) of the Category 1 and 2 staterooms.

Category 3B – Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom (Disney Wish)

The Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom on Disney Wish offers stunning sea views through floor-to-ceiling windows.

A king bed, a single convertible sofa, and an upper-berth single pull-down bed make up this room, which can accommodate up to five guests. There is also a wall pull-down bed in rooms that sleep five. The 357-square-foot room provides plenty of space for the whole family to relax.

Guests staying in a Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom also have access to special concierge services, including priority boarding and seating at shows and restaurant reservations. If you’re looking for a truly magical experience, book a stay in one of these Little Mermaid-themed spaces.

Recommendation :  These are fun and family-oriented staterooms on Disney’s newest cruise ship. This is a good option if you want a Concierge-level room at a relatively affordable price.

Verandah (Balcony) Staterooms

DCL Disney Magic Verandah Stateroom

Verandah staterooms are Disney’s most spacious non-concierge accommodations, each with its own balcony outside the ship where you can enjoy the fresh air while watching the ocean go by.

Category four, five, six, and seven are verandah staterooms. Some rooms in this category offer partial views, but all provide a comfortable and relaxing space.

Category 4 – Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom w/ Verandah (All Disney Cruise Ships)

The Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah on Disney cruises is the largest stateroom on the ships that are not concierge suites. Roughly 300 sq ft, it sleeps up to 5 and is the only single-room option for a family of 5 on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. The Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah is also the most frequently booked option for families of 5 on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy .

All of these factors considered it’s no wonder that this room type is one of the most popular among families cruising with Disney.

Recommendation : The Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom is perfect for families of four or five who value roominess and want to enjoy the ocean breeze from the verandah .

Category 5 – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (All Disney Cruise Ships)

The Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah on Disney cruises is a fantastic choice for your family cruise. With enough space to comfortably sleep 3-4 guests and an unobstructed verandah, this room type is perfect for enjoying the beautiful view.

Magic and Wonder’s cabins are 268 sq ft, while Dream, Fantasy, and Wish are 248 sq ft. The Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah come with a queen bed, a sleeper sofa, and a pull-out berth (if sleeping four). This room type also features a sitting area, plenty of closet space, and a private verandah to enjoy the view without leaving your stateroom.

Recommendation :   Among the regular-sized verandah cabins, these are the most common and the most frequently booked for families with four or fewer members. They are an excellent choice!

DCL-Disney-Dream-Cat-5-Stateroom

Category 6 – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – Undersized, Obstructed View, or White Wall  (All Disney Cruise Ships)

Category 6 staterooms are located near the back of the ship’s upper deck. Accommodations are nearly identical to those found in Category 5 but have either an undersized, obstructed, or white wall verandah. Those who book a Category 6 cabin on the Magic and Wonder will have full white wall railings, while on the Dream and Fantasy, the white wall only extends halfway up the railing.

All of these staterooms sleep at least three, and many sleep 4.

Recommendation :  Because these rooms are nearly identical to Category 5 rooms, they are a terrific way to save money on your Disney cruise . We recommend the Dream and Fantasy 6B staterooms because of their stunning views, and Disney Magic and Wonder’s Category 6 staterooms on Deck 6 have more verandah space, as do 5650 and 5150.

Category 7 – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Navigator’s Verandah (All Disney Cruise Ships)

Navigator verandahs on Disney Magic and Disney Wonder feature mostly enclosed balconies with a viewing window cut out. In contrast, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish have a minimally obstructed view from the verandah.

Recommendation:  The rooms in Category 7 are nearly identical to those in Category 5 and 6, so they are a good way to save on a Disney cruise if you don’t mind having a partial view. We believe these are the best values in the verandah category, particularly on the Dream, Fantasy, and Wish.

Oceanview (Porthole) Staterooms

DCL-DIsney-Dream-Oceanview-Stateroom

The Oceanview category of staterooms (Category 8 and 9) features rooms with scenic vistas through genuine porthole windows. The Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom is perfect for families, while the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom provides a more intimate setting.

Category 8 – Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom (Disney Dream, Fantasy, & Wish)

Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish to offer a truly luxurious cruise experience with their Category 8 Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms.

These staterooms are much larger than the standard size (around 240 sq ft), sleeping between 3 and 5 people comfortably. In addition, they feature unique round tub-showers (see the video above for Category 4) and large portholes with seating, making them the perfect place to relax and take in the breathtaking views. The exceptions to this are the 8As, which are similar to suites with two large portholes and plenty of space. Families and groups can enjoy Category 8A even more since many have a divider between the bed and seating area. None of them will disappoint.

Recommendation :  Families looking for affordability and comfort will find the Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom is the right choice.

Category 9 – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom (All Disney Cruise Ships)

The Category 9 Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom sleeps 3 or 4 people and is the same size as the category 10’s with a similar layout and features. The Disney Dream and Fantasy Rooms are 204 sq ft, 214 on Disney Magic and Wonder, and 218 sq ft on Disney Wish. Most rooms have a porthole on one of the walls. On the Magic and Wonder ships, the 9D staterooms on deck 1 have two small portholes instead of one large porthole.

A, B, C, and D designations represent Disney’s assessment of the location and view of the room. In Dream, Fantasy, and Wish, the 9C and 9D staterooms typically have obstructed views and are usually located in the front of the vessel.

Recommendation :  If you prefer to save money over having a porthole in your room, opt for Category 10.

Inside Staterooms (Least Expensive Main Category)

DCL Disney Wish Inside Stateroom

An Inside Stateroom on the Disney Wish | Image © Disney

The Inside category features Disney Cruise Line’s base accommodations, with no window (no exterior view) but still featuring a nautical motif. The Deluxe Inside Stateroom is slightly larger than the Standard Inside Stateroom and provides additional storage space and a sitting area.

Category 10 –Deluxe Inside Stateroom (Disney Dream, Fantasy, Magic, & Wonder)

Rooms in Category 10 are almost identical to those in Category 9, except for being unable to see the outside. These staterooms also have more square footage than those in Category 11.

The Disney Dream/Fantasy Deluxe Inside Staterooms are 204 sq ft, and the Disney Magic/Wonder rooms are 214 sq ft. They can accommodate 3 or 4 people.

Disney Wish does not have a Deluxe Inside category.

Virtual portholes on the Disney Dream and Fantasy ships allow passengers to see what is happening outside (along with a bit of Disney magic thrown in).

There are also a select few unnamed staterooms on the Magic/Wonder ships known in some circles as “secret porthole” staterooms — they actually have porthole windows but Disney decided not to classify them as oceanview rooms because lifeboats or other architectural elements obstruct the views.

Deluxe Inside Staterooms have a split bathroom, with one half having a sink and a shower, and the other half having a toilet and a sink. A, B, and C subcategories are assigned according to their locations, with A subcategories on upper decks or closer to midship, while C subcategories are on lower decks.

Recommendation : Deluxe Inside Cabins/Staterooms are an excellent option for couples or families of 3 or 4 on a budget.

Category 11 – Standard Inside Stateroom (All Disney Cruise Ships)

Standard Inside Staterooms are typically the cheapest rooms available on Disney Cruise Line .

Standard Inside Staterooms sleep three, and some sleep four.  They’re smaller than other staterooms, but the amenities are the same. The Disney Magic and Wonder rooms are 184 square feet, while the Dream Fantasy and Wish rooms are 169 square feet.

There’s no split bathroom in a Standard Inside Stateroom. The Disney Dream and Fantasy ships feature a Magical Porthole with real-time views, but the other ships do not have exterior views.

Disney divides the rooms into categories A, B, and C based on attractiveness. Category 11A rooms are found on upper decks and near the ship’s middle, while 11B rooms are on lower decks.

Recommendation:  The Standard Inside Statement is a small and cheap option, so you shouldn’t expect too much from it. However, this DCL room offers more space than you would get on other (non-Disney) cruise ships of the same class. It allows couples and small families the opportunity to enjoy a Disney cruise at a reasonable price.

As always seems to be the case, the best option for you may not be the best option for another family.

Ask yourself the question: “what’s most important to me?”  Is it having a balcony? Is it experiencing concierge level service in a suite? Is it having additional beds for kids? Is it saving money and just making sure you’re onboard the ship?

Answering those questions, then reviewing deck plans, photos, reviews, and our guide/tips above will help you decide what’s best for you.

No matter your room type, you’re sure to have a magical experience aboard a Disney Cruise ship.

Thanks for reading our Best Staterooms on a Disney Cruise article.  Happy cruising (and don’t forget your passport)!

How to choose the best Disney Cruise Stateroom for you

By Alisha Molen

Have you decided which Disney Cruise you want to take? Great!

Once you have decided which Disney cruise itinerary is right for you, here is the next step:

Select the perfect stateroom!

Your Disney Cruise stateroom will be your home away from home for a few days and nights. It is also an important factor in the overall cost of your cruise.

What You Should Know about Disney Cruise Staterooms

Disney Cruise Line staterooms are tailored especially to families.

From split bathrooms, to bathtubs, to beds that pop out of the ceiling, to extra storage space and more, Disney has thought of everything!

In fact, their standard cabins are about 25% bigger than standard cabins on other cruise lines. Don’t get me wrong, they are still much smaller than a hotel room, but bigger than the cruise industry average.

Whatever your budget and taste, Disney Cruise Line has accommodations for every traveller. Stateroom options range from cozy and comfortable to grand and luxurious.

What Comes Standard in Every Stateroom?

First, it’s good to know what comes standard in every Disney Cruise Line stateroom:

  • A queen bed (not two twins pushed together)
  • Seating area
  • Desk area with chair and dedicated lighting
  • Privacy curtains that separate sleeping and seating areas
  • Storage: 2 closets, under bed storage space, dresser drawers
  • Hooks for towels
  • Hangers (if you need more, ask your stateroom host/hostess)
  • A mini refrigerator
  • A hairdryer
  • Television (satellite) and in-room movies
  • Full length mirror
  • In-room safes for wallets, passports, phones etc
  • Electrical outlets
  • “Wave Phones” that allow you to call and text both onboard and at Castaway Cay
  • H20 Plus -branded shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion and soap
  • Housekeeping services twice a day—Morning cleaning and nightly turndown service
  • Life jackets for each person
  • Blackout curtains (staterooms with exterior windows)
  • Split bathrooms (in most staterooms)
  • Bathtubs (in most staterooms)

About those Bathtubs

I love the fact that Disney Cruise Line has a bathtub in almost every stateroom! (Accessible rooms have roll-in showers instead of tubs.)

This is not the norm for most cruise lines.

With little kids a tub is kind of a must so it’s nice Disney thought of it all. Naturally they aren’t as big as your tub at home but they should do the trick for your kiddos.

For adults? I’d probably stick with the shower.

What is Not Included in Your Stateroom

Now that we covered what is in the stateroom, here are some items that are not included :

  • Coffeemaker
  • Ironing board

The Four Kinds of Disney Cruise Stateroom

The staterooms on Disney Cruise Line ships can be broken down into four types:

Within each of these 4 stateroom types, there are a number of “ categories ” available.

These “categories” indicate a variance within that room type such as standard or deluxe , a type of verandah, or the location - by deck or area of the ship (forward, midship, or aft).

What Do These Category Numbers Mean?

When it’s time to reserve a cabin, you’ll notice each Disney Cruise stateroom has a “category” and “number” assigned to it.

Example: 5A - Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

These can be confusing until you learn these simple rules:

1) The higher the “number”, the less expensive the stateroom

Staterooms start at category 11 (inside staterooms) and descend to category 4 (verandah staterooms). The Concierge is the most expensive and doesn’t start with a number at all.

This is handy to know because if you compare a Category 7 stateroom with a Category 6, you know at a glance that the 7 is less expensive.

2) The “letter” indicates a location on the ship

For example, 9B is a mid-ship oceanview stateroom while 9C is forward-ship oceanview stateroom. Same floor plan, just maybe on a different deck or different part of the ship.

If there are multiple sub-categories available within a category - such as 9A, 9B, 9C, 9D - then “A” will be the most expensive and most desirable and “D” the least expensive. Of course, “most desirable” is completely subjective so take it with a grain of salt and the price difference between the subcategories is fairly minimal.

How Many Guests Can Sleep in a Stateroom?

Most regular staterooms sleeps 3-4 with a handful that sleep 5. There are also Concierge staterooms that can sleep up to 7. If you have 5+ guests in your party, check out Bonus Tip #1 below.

How to Choose Your Stateroom

Here are our recommended steps for picking the best stateroom for your voyage:

Now...Find Your Stateroom by Ship

Here's a stateroom guide by ship: >> Disney Magic & Disney Wonder Stateroom Guide >> Disney Dream & Disney Fantasy Stateroom Guide >> Disney Wish Stateroom Guide

BONUS TIPS FOR SELECTING A STATEROOM

1) big family consider connecting staterooms.

If your group has more than 4 guests, you'll have a couple of different options for staterooms.

  • A Family Oceanview stateroom or a Suite (sleeps 5 to 7 guests)
  • Two connecting staterooms (sleeps up to 8 guests)

Connecting staterooms are two rooms that have a door between the adjoining wall.

You can leave the door always open to keep an eye on the little ones in the other room, or close it for privacy. It’s kinda like having your own little two-bedroom suite but for less moo-lah.

Which brings me to my next point...

Many times, getting two connecting staterooms is cheaper than one Family Oceanview stateroom or Suite. Crunch the numbers and see what will work best for your family.

NOTE: Just remember that you must have at least one adult booked in each stateroom.

How many connecting staterooms are on each ship?

There are 137 connecting staterooms on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

On both the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, there are over 500 connecting staterooms.

How do you know which rooms connect?

When selecting a stateroom, look for the little “doors” that open in between the cabins. If there are doors on the adjoining wall, that means it’s a connecting room.

For example, in the photo below, cabins 7064 and 7066 connect.

disney cruise ship rooms

2) View of Beach at Castaway Cay

Want a view of the beach when in dock at Castaway Cay ?

Book a room on the starboard (right) side of the ship.

Disney ships will usually back into Castaway Cay’s dock, so the port (left) side cabins will face the dock and the tram area while the starboard (right) side cabins will face the beaches on Castaway Cay.

Just know, this is not a guarantee.

Sometimes there are conditions that will require docking in the opposite direction.

3) If You’re On the Fence About a Verandah

First things first...let's start with this question:

What is a verandah?

A verandah stateroom on a Disney Cruise Line ship is simply a room with a balcony attached.

It is a wonderful experience to stand on your verandah and breathe in the fresh ocean air.

A DCL verandah also offers extra visibility when at port or sailing through a particularly scenic area.

If you’re debating whether to add the additional expense of a verandah (instead of an oceanview) cabin, here are some points to consider in favor of a verandah:

  • Verandahs are more valuable on cruises where there is a lot of scenery. Alaska, Panama, and Mediterranean itineraries, for example.
  • If you have a young child that will require a lot of naps in your stateroom, having a verandah gives the parent a place to escape to look at the view, read a book, and enjoy some room service while you wait with the little one.

4) To Avoid Noise, Have Staterooms All Around You

By booking a stateroom that has other cabins above, below and to all sides, you're able to insulate yourself from any possible ship noise (laundry, sundecks, engine, restaurants, theatres, etc).

5) Request a Crib When You Book

You can request a crib for your baby when you book your cruise. If you have already booked your cruise, go to My Reservations to make your request.

Disney Cruise Line Stateroom Categories Explained

IMG 1692 scaled

Front, back, top, bottom, left, right, somewhere in the middle? There are so many choices when choosing your stateroom (like a hotel room, but on water) on a Disney Cruise. No worries though, I explain all of the various categories and help you choose the best stateroom for your family’s magical vacation!

As of right now, there are 4 Disney ships in their fleet. The Dream and Fantasy are sister ships with the same layout and the Magic and Wonder are sister ships with the same layout. When selecting a cruise itinerary, you want to make sure you know which ship you will be sailing on because the stateroom categories are different.

There are 2 main things you have to consider when choosing a stateroom: what type of stateroom do you want (floor plan) and where on the ship do you want to be (category). The Dream and Fantasy have 9 floor plans and 28 room categories. The Magic & Wonder have 10 floor plans and 22 room categories. That’s a lot! I have broken it down into 4 easy steps to pick your perfect stateroom!

4 steps to choosing your stateroom:

Determine how many people are in your party. This decides what type of room you need. When you go online to look at availability, select the total number of adults and children (with their ages) the rooms will be filtered down to the ones that will fit your party size.

Dream & Fantasy: If you have 1, 2, 3, or 4 people in your party you have free access to all rooms and categories on the ship. If you have 5 people, you can choose from 5 floor plans on the ships. If you have more than 5 on the Dream & Fantasy you will need 2 staterooms.

Magic & Wonder: If you have 1, 2 or 3 people in your party you can choose between all room floor plans and categories on the ships. If you have 4 people you can choose from 9 floor plans. 5 people, you can choose between 5 floor plans and there are 2 floor plans that can sleep up to 7!

Choose 1 of 4 floor plans. Do you want a room with a view?

1.     Inside: no windows (however, the Fantasy and Dream have Magical Portholes; a LED TV screen over the bed with real-time views of outside)

DCL Magical Porthole

2.     Oceanview: Dream & Fantasy: 1 or 2 large portholes, Magic & Wonder: 1 large porthole or 2 smaller portholes

3.     Verandah: There are 3 types of verandahs (balconies):

  •  The  standard verandah  features an open-air balcony skirted by an acrylic wall, allowing for a full view of the horizon even while seated.
  • The  whitewall verandah  offers open-air lounging with a solid wall from the deck to the railing. Most of these staterooms are located in the back (aft) portion of the ship.
  • The  navigator’s verandah  is enclosed for greater privacy while still affording a stunning view and sea breezes through a large, open-air porthole above the railing.
  • Verandahs differ by size and style depending on the ship and stateroom type, and the view on some verandahs may be obstructed.
  • On connecting verandah staterooms, the partitions can be opened to create an even more spacious balcony.

Room preferences to consider:

What specific stateroom type do you want?

  • Suite: Royal, 1 bedroom, or 2 bedrooms
  • Deluxe family: sleeps 5
  • Deluxe: split bathroom
  • Standard: single bathroom
  • Guaranteed: Disney will select for you your stateroom and guarantee that it will be in the category chosen or a higher category. This is a restricted-fare category.
  • Wheelchair accessible

Where on the ship do you want to be? Forward (front), midship, or aft (back)

DCL Ship locations

Do you get seasick? There are different theories to this, but generally, if you get sea sick you will want a stateroom with a verandah so you can breathe in fresh air or a room with a porthole. Focusing on the line where the sky meets the sea can help alleviate nausea. Also, having a stateroom in the middle of the ship helps with the rocking feeling.

Are you on a budget? The higher the deck the more expensive the stateroom is. Also, the closer you are to mid ship the more expensive the room is. You will also pay more to see the ocean. Inside staterooms with no windows on a lower deck either near the front (forward) or back (aft) are the least expensive.

Pick your room

DCL Pick your stateroom

In this step, you actually get to choose your specific room number. You can also select staterooms that adjoin if you are going with another stateroom. If the room connects, you will see an arrow next to the room number. The direction the arrow is going in is the room it connects to. You can still select one of these rooms even if you are not traveling with another party, you just don’t want to unlock the door 🙂

Do you want to be next to the elevators? The elevators midship are generally busier and therefore are louder, but on the other hand, you also have close access to the stairwell & elevators to get to other decks quickly.

When you have made your selection, you will be given a category #. For example, it will look like this: (Category 04E).

You’re done, celebrate!

But what does that number and letter mean?

If you want to dig in deeper to the room categories and find out what the number and letter means, you can keep on reading. I am giving you fair warning, there is a lot of information below.  For planning purposes, my suggestion is to print out the list below and make notes or cross off which ones do not fit your needs.

A Complete Guide to Disney Dream Cruise Ship Rooms

By Samantha Kendall Leave a Comment

There are plenty of ways to have your perfect Disney vacation.

disney cruise ship rooms

The atrium of the Disney Dream

For some, it might be heading to Disney World. For others, Disneyland is the ticket. But if your perfect Disney vacation includes traveling to different destinations and hanging poolside — then setting sail with the Disney Cruise Line might be for you! We recently sailed on the Disney Dream and have been bringing you reviews , and if you’re thinking about sailing on this ship you’re in luck! We’re taking a look at all the different categories of staterooms on the Disney Dream to help you plan your trip!

There are four different types of staterooms on Disney Cruise Line ships, including the Disney Dream. Those are Concierge, Oceanview with Verandah, Oceanview, and Inside . Each room category comes at a different price point, and each category is equipped with different features and amenities. Let’s see what might be best for your trip!

As the name might imply, the Concierge Suites feature the most luxurious and spacious accommodations on the Disney Dream. They can sleep parties of 5 to 7 guests and all feature verandahs for a bit of breathing room. Not only that, but you’ll also have the personal attention of a dedicated Concierge Service when you stay in one of the suites.

disney cruise ship rooms

In addition to the suites, there are also Concierge Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandahs . These aren’t quite as spacious as the suites, but they are roomier than normal staterooms and come with the same Concierge Services — including Pre-Arrival Services. You’ll also have access to the Concierge Lounge, with complimentary food and nonalcoholic drinks.

disney cruise ship rooms

Concierge Suites and Staterooms come with priority check-in and a dedicated check-in station — plus there will be a private welcome session. Depending on where you’re sailing and how many nights your cruise is, a Concierge Suite or Room on the Disney Dream could cost you more. For example, a summer 2022 3-night Bahamian cruise was  $5,128 , but a 5-night Western Caribbean cruise was  $9,142.

disney cruise ship rooms

That’s quite a big price tag, but Concierge Level rooms come with the most luxurious amenities onboard the Dream, and you can’t beat the private lounges, sun deck, and dedicated staff. You’ll just have to decide if that’s worth the cost!

Ultimate Guide To Disney Cruise Line 2023

Oceanview with verandah.

There are two types of Oceanview Staterooms, but only one category features verandahs or balconies. These rooms are pretty spacious, though they are only one room technically unlike the Concierge Suites. Oceanview Verandah rooms sleep 3 to 5 guests depending on the type of room.

disney cruise ship rooms

Not only do you get a view to the ocean or outside world with these rooms, but you also have the added benefit of a decently sized verandah perfect for a glass of wine after putting the kids to bed or a warm cup of coffee in the morning. Though these rooms are spacious, they don’t come with the Concierge Services or dedicated check-in features. But, Oceanview Staterooms with Verandahs are the second most expensive type of room on the Disney Dream.

disney cruise ship rooms

Pretty spacious

Like most staterooms, the price for these rooms is entirely dependent upon where you’re sailing and how long your cruise will be. A 3-night cruise on the Disney Dream can start at around $1,459 , but a longer cruise could be priced more like  $4,051.

Oceanview Staterooms are pretty much identical to the Oceanview Staterooms with Verandahs, though they can be smaller (and obviously also don’t have verandahs!). Instead of a balcony, there is a porthole with “stunning ocean views” for guests to enjoy.

disney cruise ship rooms

Typically, Oceanview Staterooms sleep 3 to 4 guests and occasionally these rooms feature two large portholes ! You’ll find a queen bed, sleeper sofa, and sometimes an upper-berth pulldown bed . Keep in mind that depending on which stateroom and which deck you’re in, you might have an obstructed porthole view.

disney cruise ship rooms

If you don’t need the access to outside via the verandah, this could be a good option if you’re trying to save a little bit of money . You still get ocean views and natural light, and these rooms can be decently roomy if you don’t plan on spending too much time in them. An Oceanview Stateroom summer 2022 3-night Bahamian cruise on the Disney Dream started at  $1,387,  but the same room type started at  $4,562  on a 5-night Western Caribbean cruise, depending on which month you sailed.

If having a balcony or ocean view isn’t important to you, an Inside Stateroom might be just the thing . These rooms are located on the interior of the ship, meaning they have no outside walls or windows — and no natural light . There are “Magical Portholes” that offer real-time views of the sea. Plus, you never know who or what might float by like your favorite Disney character or a pirate ship.

disney cruise ship rooms

Inside Staterooms on the Disney Dream sleep 3 to 4 guests , and feature a queen bed, sleeper sofa, or upper-berth pulldown bed . These are the smallest rooms on the ship, so even though they technically can sleep up to four, they’re not all that roomy if you plan on spending a lot of time in your room.

disney cruise ship rooms

For those adventurous types or travelers who just want a place to rest their head and don’t care how big the room is, an Inside Stateroom definitely offers the most bang for your buck. Larger families or those who need just a bit of personal space might not be that comfortable in these rooms . These are the least expensive rooms on the Disney Dream — an Interior Stateroom summer 2022 3-night Bahamian cruise started at $1,357 and a 5-night Western Caribbean cruise Interior Stateroom began at  $4,332  depending on the month.

disney cruise ship rooms

Keep in mind that with all these stateroom categories, there are even more different types of rooms including Deluxe, Family, and Handicap Accessible . What’s best for one family or travel group might not be what’s best for you — so make sure you take all these factors into account when planning your cruise on the Disney Dream!

All balcony rooms feature a private veranda with sliding doors (kid-proof locks), plexiglass railings, outdoor deck furniture (2 chairs, 1 small table). Categories 6A-6B have wall balconies, while categories 5A-5B-5C are with plexiglass. Staterooms 5188 and 5688 (deck 5 aft location) are with very small (triangle-shaped) balconies. Family Verandah rooms (category 3A are with concierge service) have a queen (or 2 twin beds), a hidden bunk bed, larger living area (double sofa /convertible), split bathroom. Oceanview cabins have large-size Porthole Window. Of those, categories 9C-9D are with obstructed view (due to lifeboats). Of the Family Oceanviews, category 8A is the largest.

MS Disney Dream cabins tips

"Secret Balcony cabins" (aft on decks 5-7-8-9) are in Category 7A but with a slightly obstructed view due to deck location (at the ship's stern). They are the last in the rows of categories 5 and 6. Their balconies are with Plexiglas railings and some have connecting door (to an adjacent category 5 or 6 balconies).

There are 2 aft-facing (numbers 5188 and 5688) rooms with no obstructed view but very small balcony (triangular). Being too small for a chair, they have built-in benches (sitting 2 people). Each cabin connects to an adjacent handicap 9A room (numbers 5186 and 5686), but the balconies are not connecting.

With minor obstruction are numbers 8022 (connecting), 8164, 8520 (connecting), 8662, 7022, 7170 (connecting), 7520, 7668 (connecting), 9012, 9152 (connecting), 9164, 9512, 9652 (connecting), 9664. With significant obstruction are numbers 5024, 5524, 6178 (connecting), 6678 (connecting), 7182, 7680, 8176 (connecting), 8674 (connecting). With small balconies are numbers 5188 and 5688 (both connecting).

"Connecting Balcony cabins" are most adjacent balcony staterooms (excepting on deck 10 / with steel dividers). These balconies can be connected by folding back their dividing panels. To connect these balconies, contact your cabin attendant; to unlock the divider. Once opened, these pairs of rooms share a long (double) balcony. If you have group-booked cabins, you can unlock all dividers and make a very long one.

Category 8A (Deluxe Family Oceanview) are all 12 staterooms with 2 large porthole windows but without split bathrooms. Four of these 8As are also known as “mini-suites” because are oversized and wall-divided into 2 (not completely separate by curtain or door) rooms. The “mini-suite” 8As have triple occupancy and no split bathroom. Their bathrooms are small (sink, WC, bathtub/shower). These cabins are with 2 TVs (facing the bed and the single sofabed). They are also connecting (max capacity 6 persons). Cabin numbers are 5020-5022 (connecting) and 5520-5522 (connecting).

Another eight 8As feature open-floor plans. They are also oversized and laid out as an L-shaped room (no divider).  Their capacity is 4 persons, and some cabins have a support (floor-ceiling ) pole in their center. Bathrooms are large and square-shaped, no split and without bathtub (have curtained shower). The open-floor 8As numbers are 5018, 5518, 6012, 6014 (connecting, support pole), 6016 (connecting, support pole), 6510, 6512 (connecting, support pole), 6514 (connecting, support pole).

Some decks 11 and 12 staterooms in categories "1-Bedroom Suite" and "Concierge Family Oceanview" are with larger balconies due to deck location (“hump” of the ship). Larger balcony Suite numbers are 11002, 11006, 12000, 12006, 12012, 12506, 12512. Larger balcony Concierge Family numbers are 11004, 12008, 12010, 12508, 12510.

Suite 12000 is located between both Royal Suites. A hallway leads to a foyer with doors connecting to Royal Suites, then is Suite 12000's entry door. This suite has the biggest balcony in its category and faces forward. However, its balcony's outer part is not private (can be seen from Deck 13 above).

Disney Dream ship's smallest (and cheapest) "cabins for families of 5" are Category 8 ("Deluxe Family Oceanview"). However, it's always cheaper to book 2 connecting cabins (Category 11 "Standard Inside"). Also, consider the option of booking 2x Category 9 ("Deluxe Oceanview") or 2x Category 10 ("Deluxe Inside") cabins (larger and with 2 full bathrooms).

For families of 6+, the only option is booking 2 cabins as none of the ship's categories accommodates more than 5 passengers (suites included).

"Cabin upgrade" is an option when you book a low-priced "guarantee" category and hope for a category upgrade. Booking “guarantee” stateroom means you get at least this category, but you're not assigned to a specific cabin, Disney just guarantees you a room (at this category rate) and waits to see how the bookings go. As most people book the cheapest cabins, they often sell out. In such cases, Disney may offer cabin upgrades to passengers with first booked lower fare, thus making cheaper cabins available for new customers. You can also request a cabin upgrade upon check-in (at the cruise terminal). Depending on bookings, Disney sometimes upgrades cabins for a fee, but it's usually less expensive than if that category was originally booked.

Types of Disney Cruise Rooms

By: Author Kristi

When you begin planning your Disney Cruise , beside choosing the date & destination of your cruise, you will need to decide on a Disney Cruise Stateroom. There are four different categories of Disney Cruise rooms (and 10 types of Staterooms) to choose from.

For first time cruisers, it can be hard to understand the differences in the rooms. You will want to make sure you are aware of the diffences in each type so that you make sure you have enough space for those you are traveling with.

Types of Disney Cruise Staterooms

While all Disney Cruise rooms are a bit different based on category & type, you will be able to find that they do have many things in common.

Interior Room on Disney magic

Interior Stateroom (Disney Cruise Room for 4)

This means that you will have no view of the ocean.

It is the smallest & most affordable of the Disney Cruise staterooms.

Standard interior rooms do not have the split bathrooms that exterior staterooms have.

Magic Port Hole on Disney Dream & Fantasy

Interior staterooms on the Disney Dream & Fantasy have a virtual porthole which is really cool!

One of the benefits (besides price) is that interior rooms usually do not have as much sway as other rooms because of where they are located on the ship.

Another perk is that you will no light to wake you in the morning, so you can sleep in as long as you would like without having any natural sunlight letting you know it is morning.

Disney Dream Room with a View

Oceanview Stateroom (Disney Cruise Room for 4)

With this type of stateroom, you will have a view of the ocean, but the window will not open.

There is usually a window seat area so that you can sit & enjoy the view. There are curtains for you to close when you need to have less light or need to get some sleep.

If you tend to get sea sick, having a view of the water may help curtail the symptoms as it is said to help your brain deal with balancing the equilibrium.

Veranda Room on Disney Wonder

Verandah Stateroom (Disney Cruise Room for 4)

Not only will you have a view of the ocean, you will get a small seating area outside of the stateroom.

We always like this room because of the “extra” outdoor square footage.

Each room has a door that can be propped open to let in fresh air.

Another perk to having a veranda room is that you can place your wet swimwear out to dry.

Family Deluxe Verandah Stateroom (Disney Cruise Room for 5)

These rooms are a bit larger and give you extra seating!

If you choose this room, you will find that it not only features a couch (that turns into a bed), but also has a chair. The extra seating is a nice addition.

Concierge Stateroom on Disney Dream

Concierge Stateroom (Disney Cruise Room for 6 or 7)

Talk about luxurious. These fancy Disney Cruise line staterooms have a separate bedroom area, private balcony and have their own private lounge area that is packed with cold water and snacks.

This extra space is great for big families who aren’t easily confined to one small room.

The private lounge gives you a quiet space to get away (without having to be far from your own stateroom).

Inside your desk on Disney Cruise

What You’ll Find in Disney Cruise Staterooms:

  • Split bathrooms (in most staterooms) and privacy curtain between bed & bunks
  • Throw Blanket
  • FREE H20 Plus toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner & lotion)
  • Post Cards & Note paper
  • A refrigerator
  • A hairdryer
  • Housekeeping services twice a day (morning; typically before lunch & evening turn down service)

Two NEW Disney Cruise Ships

*When trying to determine which Disney Cruise fits in your budget, you may find that there is only a small price difference between the inside cabins and those with a balcony on the Disney Dream, Fantasy & Wish ships while a much larger price difference between that on the Magic & Wonder regardless of number of nights or destination.

This is because there are far less balcony rooms on the Magic and Wonder, causing them to be more expensive.

Disney Cruise Rooms: How to Choose the Perfect Stateroom

Jill Robbins

Suppose you’re considering a Disney Cruise for your next family vacation. In that case, you’ve probably clicked around a bit on Disney Cruise Line’s website to find the perfect ship and route that aligns with when you want to go on the ultimate Disney vacation.

Perhaps you’ve made it to stateroom selection, and now you’re stuck. What to choose? Choices can be intimidating and confusing, especially when you’re making decisions about high-dollar vacations, and yes, Disney Cruises are among the most expensive cruise vacations out there. How do you decide what’s the best stateroom – or staterooms – for your travel party? Do you go cheap and put the savings into another part of your vacation, or do you play that YOLO card and splurge on the most expensive?

Only you can decide how much money you’re willing to part with, but hopefully, I can make the decision-making process a little easier by breaking down the different Disney Cruise staterooms.

I’ve sailed on four of the five Disney Cruise Line vessels : The Disney Magic , the Disney Wonder , the Disney Dream , and the new  Disney Wish . My family is booked on the Disney Fantasy  for spring break 2024, bringing us to what’s known in Disney Cruise Line circles as a Grand Slam.

We’ve booked a variety of cabins, from the least expensive inside stateroom to a concierge 1-bedroom suite. I prefer concierge – because of course I do – but our budget doesn’t allow us to drop that kind of money every time we go on a cruise. I’ve found something to love about all the Disney Cruise Line staterooms we’ve stayed in, so let’s take a dive into the different room types.

About the 10 Different Categories of Staterooms

Disney uses numeric categories to classify their staterooms. It can be confusing for newbies who read cruise stateroom reviews to try and decipher what “Category 1A or Category 7 means. I’ll provide a brief key below for reference:

  • 1A – Royal Suite
  • 1B – Concierge 2-bedroom Suite With Verandah
  • 2A or 2B (there’s some variation between ships) – Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite With Verandah
  • 3A – Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah
  • 4 – Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
  • 5 – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah
  • 6 – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah (Undersized, Obstructed View, or White Wall)
  • 7 – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom With Navigator’s Verandah
  • 8- Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom
  • 9 – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom
  • 10 – Deluxe Inside Stateroom
  • 11 – Standard Inside Staterooms

Essentially, the lower the category number, the more expensive the stateroom. When you’re on the Disney Cruise website browsing rooms, you’ll see the square footage listed, which includes the bathroom space as well as the verandah.

Concierge Rooms

Concierge rooms are not only nicer, more spacious rooms with more amenities but there are also extended services that go along with the extra room. Concierge services include shoreside services, such as assistance with booking shore excursions and onboard activities. Concierge guests also get an early booking window to get their first pick of activities and coveted extras like cabanas at Castaway Cay.

Concierge guests also get access to the ship’s Concierge Lounge. Lounge perks include private sundecks, near round-the-clock access to nibbles, bottled sodas, bottled water, juices, and specialty coffees, and an open bar in the evenings.

Concierge Royal Suite

Each ship has at least one Royal Suite. These luxe accommodations sleep six and have separate living areas and dining areas, and private hot tubs. The newest Royal Suites on the Disney Wish  are Sleeping Beauty-themed. If you want the highest of high-end and are prepared to pay the price, these suites are the ultimate experience on board a Disney Cruise.

I recommend booking with a travel agent who can help you navigate the availability of these suites. Since they’re in limited numbers, they tend to book up fast, so if you’ve got your heart set on staying in a Royal Suite, a travel agent has a better view of availability across the fleet.

One and Two-Bedroom Suites

These suites offer space to spread out at a more affordable price than the Royal Suite, although affordable is a relative term when it comes to concierge staterooms.

My family and I stayed in a one-bedroom suite on the Disney Dream,  and we enjoyed the extra space and privacy. The king-sized bed had pocket doors that separated our sleeping space from the rest of the room, and we had two full baths, one with an oversized bathtub. Our kids slept on a pullout couch and a Murphy bed in the living room.

Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah

The Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah is the least expensive concierge room. The room is very similar to a non-concierge oceanview stateroom with a verandah and is essentially a category 4 or 5 stateroom with concierge room decor and amenities and access to concierge services, such as the lounge and pre-arrival assistance. If you want the white glove VIP service but don’t need a bunch of extra room, this is the way to go.

Oceanview Staterooms

If you want to see the water from your stateroom, Oceanview is the stateroom for you. There are several categories to choose from here. The big decision to make is whether or not you want a balcony, AKA verandah. If you decide to go with a verandah, there are some nuances regarding views so if unobstructed ocean views are a must, make sure you’re reading carefully when you book or specifying exactly what you want when you talk to your travel agent.

Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms and Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom

When it comes to Disney Cruise Line staterooms, the word “family” is going to mean a larger room that sleeps more people.

Think of the oceanview as the middle-of-the-road choice between a room with a verandah and an inside room. The rooms have porthole windows where you can see outside and get that natural light. The oceanview stateroom is more money than the inside staterooms but not as costly as the verandah or concierge rooms, so, if you want to land somewhere between those two options, this can be a good choice.

The oceanview stateroom may also be a good compromise for parents of young children. Sometimes parents have the worry that their little ones are going to try and climb the balcony and fall overboard, so the oceanview sans balcony eliminates that situation.

The verandah staterooms do have high locks on the doors to the balcony, though, so it’s easy for parents to manage, safety-wise.

The balconies are about 45 square feet – not huge, but large enough for three to four people to comfortably stand on to look out. There are two chairs and a small table, quite comfortable to sit in and enjoy a drink or your morning coffee.

Oceanview Staterooms With Verandah

As you can see from the list above, there are many variations and multiple categories listed for rooms with a private verandah. The difference between the verandahs in Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah and Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah is going to be the size of the stateroom and the number of people it can sleep, five versus four people. Categories 4 and 5 have the same type of unobstructed verandah.

When you get into categories 6, 7, and 8 on Disney Cruise ships, you get smaller verandahs, potential obstructions, or a white wall verandah. Most of the verandahs are acrylic, where you can see ocean views even while seated. A Navigator’s Verandah is a mostly enclosed verandah that has a large, circular hole for viewing. The smaller or obstructed view verandahs will be priced lower than categories 4 and 5. The differences are very minor, so if you have an opportunity to save or your selection of verandah rooms is limited, consider how much time you’ll spend on the verandah and decide from there.

Inside Staterooms

Inside staterooms are the cheapest staterooms. Depending on availability, you’ll be able to choose from a standard inside stateroom and a deluxe inside stateroom.

Inside staterooms are exactly that – inside. There’s no porthole window or balcony to let in the natural light or ocean breezes.

Deluxe Inside Stateroom Vs. Standard Inside Stateroom

The big difference between standard and deluxe is that the deluxe has a split bathroom. The split bathroom means a toilet and vanity separate from the shower and second sink. It’s a great feature and allows someone to be in the shower without holding someone up if they need to use the toilet. The extra square footage in the deluxe – about 50 feet – is all the split bathroom.

We stayed in a deluxe inside stateroom on the Disney Magic . We initially booked the standard inside stateroom, but Disney upgraded us shortly before we left for the port, and we appreciated the extra space in the bathroom. Otherwise, I thought the inside cabin was just fine. I thought I would miss the verandah but didn’t. The dark cabin was great for sleeping. Also, many of the inside staterooms are on the lower decks. When we were in an inside stateroom on Deck 2, catching the stairs and bypassing the crowded elevators was easy.

Inside staterooms on the Disney Fantasy  and Disney Dream have a virtual porthole, which is a digital screen that shows real-time views of the ship’s exterior with the occasional visit from a Disney character. You can turn off the virtual porthole if you choose.

Standard In-Room Amenities

The Inside and Oceanview staterooms are all very similar, and the main differences between the stateroom categories are verandahs and split bathrooms versus single bathrooms. Regarding the available beds and storage space, there’s not much difference between non-concierge rooms.

The rooms typically sleep four, with a few sleeping five, so larger families or groups may want to consider adjoining cabins if not comfortable splitting up. When you enter the room, you’ll see a queen bed, a couch, a coffee table, and a combination desk/storage unit. There’s a curtain divider guests can use to close the bed off from the rest of the stateroom.

The couch converts into a bed, and there’s an additional bed housed in the ceiling. The stateroom attendant will convert the couch into a bed and handle the pull-down bed during nightly turndown service. Although the quarters are pretty close, this setup does well for a family of four, with the kids sleeping on the bunk beds and the parents sleeping on the queen bed. The curtain provides a small amount of privacy.

Staterooms have a small flatscreen TV that’s mounted on a swivel so they can be positioned to be seen from the bed or the couch. Although no one goes on a cruise to watch TV, there are a variety of channels that include information about the ship’s route and activities as well as Disney programming and news.

Bathroom Amenities

In addition to towels and soap, standard DCL bathroom amenities include shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, and soap. Concierge staterooms have elevated toiletries. The Disney Wish  provides bathrobes as part of the standard stateroom amenities but on the other ships, they’re only for concierge guests.

Storage Space

Storage space in a Disney Cruise Line stateroom is adequate but tight. If you have four people in a cabin, storage space is more at a premium, but unless you’re big over-packers, everyone has enough space to store their belongings.

There’s a bit of closet space – if you have a lot of hanging garments, I recommend travel hangers – and storage cubbies and drawers in the bathroom and the main part of the cabin. The under-bed area has room for suitcase storage.

Best Advice When Choosing Staterooms

Budget is going to be most people’s driving factor when choosing a stateroom. Depending on the length of the cruise, there’s usually a several thousand dollar difference between an inside stateroom and the cheapest concierge stateroom.

Cruise ships are so filled with activities and other things to do, and guests aren’t meant to spend a ton of time in their stateroom, so don’t think you’ll be shortchanging your experience if you book an inside stateroom. If you have a larger budget and prioritize that extra level of elevated service, concierge is a fun splurge.

I also recommend you look at a deck plan before you lock in a stateroom to see where you’ll be in relation to everything else on the ship. If your cabin is directly below the sun deck, you might be woken early by the sounds of the deck crew setting up the chairs for the day. If your cabin is near the elevators, you might hear lots of foot traffic, although the upside is that being near the elevators means it’s faster and easier to get around the ship.

Midship staterooms on a high deck are generally the most stable, so this might be a necessary choice if you’re prone to seasickness.

Travel Agents Can Be Excellent Advisors

When it comes to choosing a stateroom, a travel agent can be a great resource, especially if you’re a first-time cruiser. They’re familiar with the ships, deck plans, and what the passengers want and need, even when the passengers may not fully know.

They don’t call it the Disney DREAM for nothin’…

disney cruise ship rooms

The Disney Dream was the third ship to join the ever-expanding Disney Cruise Line fleet. (Seriously… have you heard that the NEW Disney Destiny was just announced ??) The Disney Dream introduced a new class of ships to the line — the Dream Class, of course! And if it’s YOUR dream to sail on this magical ship, then we hope you’ll join us as we explore everything you and your traveling crew need to know about cruising on the Disney Dream!

Disney Dream Overview

The Disney Dream took its Maiden Voyage with passengers on January 26, 2011. The Disney Fantasy, which followed with its first sailing in 2012, is the sister ship to the Disney Dream.

disney cruise ship rooms

So, in both its size and structure (with 14 Decks and 1,250 Staterooms) and passenger capacity (a whopping 4,000!), it is similar to the Disney Fantasy. That said, each ship boasts some of their own distinguishing features.

disney cruise ship rooms

These start right in the ship’s Art deco-inspired Atrium, where a golden statue of Admiral Donald Duck himself welcomes you aboard!

Of course, among additional varied features, the ship’s itineraries differ as well…

Disney Dream Destinations

The Disney Dream primarily offers Bahamian cruises departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida .

disney cruise ship rooms

However, the summer of 2024 holds something very unique in store for passengers on the Dream, as the ship is destined for Europe following a Transatlantic voyage from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona ! Sailings over the summer include Mediterranean (including the Greek Isles), British Isles, Western Europe, and Norwegian Fjords (with one sailing including Iceland) cruises.

disney cruise ship rooms

When the Dream returns stateside, she’ll depart again from Fort Lauderdale to offer Bahamian and Caribbean cruises, and select sailings will include a stop at Disney Cruise Line’s NEW island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point (and, of course, Disney Cruise Line’s beloved Castaway Cay )!

Disney dream entertainment.

Unique Disney Cruise Line entertainment kicks things off RIGHT AWAY as your cruise starts with a Sailing Away Deck Party!

When I say “unique” that’s because the pals joining you in the entertainment throughout the voyage are none other than Disney characters!

Select sailings also present Disney Cruise Line’s famous Pirate Night (complete with FIREWORKS at sea!). And don’t forget: your CREW is invited to don all the Pirate-y garb you can pack in yer suitcase, matey!

disney cruise ship rooms

When it comes to entertainment options, Disney Cruise Line is best known for its Broadway-style productions — presented in the Walt Disney Theatre — that tie in characters, beloved stories, and treasured music from the Disney films.

disney cruise ship rooms

The three shows that guests can enjoy on the Disney Dream are Beauty and the Beast , The Golden Mickeys, and Disney’s Believe.

Currently exclusive to the Disney Dream, Beauty and the Beast brings the “Tale As Old As Time” to you live on stage!

disney cruise ship rooms

In addition to seeing the characters and hearing the songs you already know and love from the animated film, this production also includes two new pieces written by Alan Menken and Tim Rice from the live-action film.

While Beauty and the Beast puts the focus on one Disney film, Disney’s Believe and The Golden Mickeys bring together oodles and oodles of Disney stories, characters, and signature songs!  In Disney’s Believe , which Disney shares is a “spellbinding musical about a workaholic father who reconnects with his daughter through a little Disney magic,” you’ll see familiar friends from Peter Pan, Aladdin, Cinderella, The Lion King , and The Princess and the Frog.

disney cruise ship rooms

The Golden Mickeys is “a dazzling tribute to the enchanting movies of Walt Disney” (and it includes a red carpet pre-show!). Featured Disney films include — but aren’t limited to — Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Toy Story 2.

P.S. You can pay a visit to Preludes before the show to pick up some popcorn (or perhaps a cocktail) to enjoy in the theatre!

Disney Dream Water Features

Passengers of all ages can make a BIG SPLASH on Deck 11 (and even a bit higher…) of the Disney Dream! Let’s start with that part that’s “a bit higher…”

We’re talking about the Aqua Duck , the water coaster that made its debut on the Dream!

disney cruise ship rooms

To ride, guests enter on Deck 12. From here? As the Disney Cruise Line website shares, you’ll take a 2-person raft on “a wet and wild journey up, down, around and off the side of the ship, through the Forward Funnel—on a daredevil 4-deck drop.”

Be aware, though, that there is a height requirement of 42 inches or taller to ride (and single riders must be at least 54 inches).

Water areas for all ages include Donald’s Pool on Deck 11, as well as a wading pool on Deck 12.

disney cruise ship rooms

Specifically for the kiddos is Mickey’s Pool , and Nemo’s Reef in particular is a splash area for those 8 and under.

disney cruise ship rooms

Mickeys Slide , however, can be enjoyed by passengers ages 4 to 14.

The Quiet Cove Pool is reserved for guests over 18 years of age only, as is the Satellite Falls wading pool, complete with a cooling rain curtain. In the same area, adult guests can enjoy a cocktail at the Currents pool bar (the Waves bar is another option), or step inside the Cove Café for a specialty coffee.

Disney Dream Staterooms

The Disney Dream offers four categories of staterooms: Inside, Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge. Many of the rooms feature Disney’s innovative split bathroom which allows more guests in a cabin the chance to get ready at one time.

disney cruise ship rooms

While each category boasts amenities such as premium mattresses and linens, a 22″ LCD flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, and a surprising amount of storage space, there are many more details to explore among the varying categories, so we’ve dedicated a page to those options here .

Disney dream dining.

As with all the other ships in the fleet, the Disney Dream presents a wide array of options, starting with a Disney Cruise Line signature: Rotational Dining!

disney cruise ship rooms

Rotational Dining means that guests have the chance to enjoy dinner at ALL THREE of the ships main dining rooms, each with their own theme and specialty menus on select nights. The best part is that, as you move to a different restaurant each evening, so do your servers! They “rotate” right along with you so they can get to know your group’s dining preferences.

disney cruise ship rooms

The three Rotational Dining restaurants on the Disney Dream are Animator’s Palate, Enchanted Garden , and Royal Palace.

Animator’s Palate is an innovative restaurant where the show is drawings coming to life on screens all around you. Undersea Magic immerses diners in the world of  Finding Nemo .

disney cruise ship rooms

Dinner at the Royal Palace features French and continental cuisine in the opulence of the classic Disney fairytales Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.

disney cruise ship rooms

At Enchanted Garden, guests enjoy their meal as the restaurant changes as flowers bloom and the “sky” fades from day to night.

disney cruise ship rooms

Be aware that Royal Palace and Enchanted Garden may also serve breakfast and lunch during a sailing, offering guests a full service option if they prefer not to dine buffet or quick service style.

A number of options are available throughout the day, as well. Cabanas hosts a massive buffet for both breakfast and lunch. Help yourself!

disney cruise ship rooms

Also on Deck 11, several Quick Service options serve classics like burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips and fries, pizza, and healthier fare like salads and sandwiches. These are all available at Flo’s Cafe , which is divided into three different stations: Luigi’s Pizza, Tow Mater’s Grill, and Fillmore’s Favorites.

P.S. Don’t forget to follow up any and all of that with some soft-serve ice cream at Eye Scream Treats!

Additional treats — including scoops from a Gelato Bar —  are available for extra purchase at Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats , a charming spot themed to Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph .

And did you know that ROOM SERVICE is available for breakfast or snacks 24 HOURS A DAY??  The vast majority of items are INCLUDED in the cruise price!

Disney Dream Adult Spaces

In addition to the Quiet Cove mentioned earlier, the Disney Dream offers more areas reserved just for grown-ups. These include the fine dining restaurant, Palo , which may be booked for dinner for an additional charge per adult.

disney cruise ship rooms

Additionally, the famous Palo Brunch is available for booking during sea days! This option is incredibly popular, so advance booking through your Disney Cruise Line account is recommended.

disney cruise ship rooms

Be aware, as well, that Palo does have a dress code. The Disney Cruise Line website states: “Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Also permitted is dress-casual attire with a polished look, such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts, dressy tops and lifestyle shoes. For brunch at Palo and Palo Steakhouse, dress shorts are acceptable. Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear and sports attire are not permitted.”

The Disney Dream is also home to Remy, another adults only option that adheres to a slightly more strict dress code than Palo: Jackets for men (or collared shirt for brunch) are required and no jeans, shorts, capri pants, sneakers, or open toed shoes.

The cuisine is exceptional French fare and reservations are required.

By the way, before or after your special meal, you might stop at Meridian , a lounge overlooking the back of the ship!

Ready to relax with a drink, or maybe even do a little dancing? Adults can pay a visit to The District , featuring several lounges, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere. District Lounge , for instance, is a relaxing piano bar, while Evolution presents late-night entertainment like dancing, games, karaoke, and comedy shows.

Pink is a Wine and Champagne Bar, while Skyline Lounge immerses you in a “sleek sky bar” boasting views of some of the world’s most iconic skylines!

Meanwhile, sports fans can catch a game at Pub 687.

Adults might also opt to participate in a Mixology Class or Beverage Tasting Seminar for an extra fee. Featured liqueur and cocktail options include — but aren’t limited to — rum, tequila and margaritas, whiskey, champagne tastings, and more!

Advance booking is highly recommended for these fun and VERY popular opportunities!

The Senses Spa & Salon offers a wide array of services and treatments. (And the Rainforest Room provides an especially relaxing oasis!) Select experiences are available for pre-booking, and you can stop by Senses to inquire about prices for the Rainforest Room and other treatments during your cruise. And the Fitness Center offers workout machines and classes.

And though this is not limited to adults, keep in mind that if you’d like to get a jog or two in, Deck 4 hosts a walking track!

Disney Dream Kids Clubs and Experiences

But what about the kids? Oh, don’t you worry… there are specific areas on the ship dedicated to children, offering experiences tailored for ages from infants to teens!

The It’s a Small World Nursery is available for ages 6 months to 3 years old (save for the Transatlantic cruise, during which the nursery welcomes ages 1 to 3 years old).

disney cruise ship rooms

Be aware that the Disney Cruise Line website states that “Reservations can be made on a first-come, first-served basis during the open house on Embarkation Day or anytime throughout your cruise. Childcare at “it’s a small world” nursery! is available at an additional fee.” Disney also emphasizes that space is limited.

Meanwhile, Disney’s Oceaneer Club AND Disney’s Oceaneer Lab are available for children ages 3 to 10. The Oceaneer Lab specializes in learning while having FUN!

disney cruise ship rooms

The Oceaneer Club features activities such as character experiences, storytime, and play areas. (There are also specific guided activities for the littlest ones, ages 3 and 4.)

disney cruise ship rooms

On the Dream, the Oceaneer Club features the following playful spaces: Andy’s Room (that’s Andy from Toy Story ), the Disney Infinity Game Room, Pixie Hollow , and Star Wars : Millennium Falcon.

disney cruise ship rooms

Keep in mind that Youth Activities counselors are present at all times in these spaces. Parents will want to know that spaces for your child can be pre-registered via your Disney Cruise Line account, and registration may also take place onboard the ship.

Tweens (ages 11 to 14) can gather at the Edge to hang out, watch movies, play games and make friends during group activities with fun Disney counselors and more. And you want to know something really cool? Edge is located in the ship’s Forward Funnel on Deck 13!

disney cruise ship rooms

Vibe offers cruisers ages 14 to 17 similar activities geared to their age group, or simply a place to chill. It even boasts its own sun deck on the Dream.

We’ve got one more thing to mention, though it’s not a club, per se. For an extra fee, your little Prince or Princess age 3 to 12 can get a makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique .

disney cruise ship rooms

Disney Princess, knight, and sea captain-themed packages are available… and there’s an exclusive makeover for Pirate Party Nights!

But we’re STILL not done… because children ages 3-12 can partake in a special tea party with Disney characters. Children get gifts including a jewelry box, tiara, bracelet, necklace, a Cinderella doll, and autograph book. Alternatively they can opt for a package including a cinch bag, sword, shield, pins, Duffy plush, and autograph book. The Disney Cruise Line site will have pricing information available when you book via your Disney Cruise Line account in advance.

Disney Dream Activities

Still want MORE to do 😉 ? That’s good, because the Disney Dream has GOT MORE! D Lounge, for example, is the place to be for family fun with events like game shows and trivia, dance parties,  and more.

disney cruise ship rooms

Catch a movie on the big screen at the Buena Vista Theatre ! You might choose to watch a Disney animated classic, or maybe a Star Wars or Marvel flick. You never know… your sailing just might feature a first-run Disney feature film at sea! “Funnel Vision” on the pool deck shows movies on the big screen, too.

disney cruise ship rooms

You can find basketball courts and ping-pong tables on Goofy’s Sports Deck. (My personal favorite option here? It’s 9-hole MINI GOLF!)

Want to explore all sorts of areas on the ship while SOLVING A MYSTERY, to boot? Then get ready to play Midship Detective Agency.  You and your fellow detectives will interact with “enchanted art” in locations all over the ship to gather clues and crack a case wide open! In fact, there are 3 cases to solve (including, but not limited to a MUPPETS-themed caper), so you can play several times — on your own or with your crew — if you like!

disney cruise ship rooms

And let’s not forget that throughout your cruise, you can meet, hug, get autographs from and pose for pictures with your favorite DISNEY PALS!

disney cruise ship rooms

Sailing with you are the Fab Five (that’s Mickey and the gang), Disney Princesses, friends from Frozen , and more! Be aware that, while all Character Greetings are included with your cruise, select Greeting times may require advance booking.

Seasonal Sailings

Depending on the time of year, you may find that a special seasonal cruise is in store! For instance, select sailings on the Dream offer a Marvel Day at Sea !

disney cruise ship rooms

And all ships in the fleet present Halloween on the High Seas in September and October, while Very Merrytime Cruises sail in November and December.

Disney Cruise Line Navigator App

Whew! As you can tell, there’s a LOT happening on the Disney Dream! To keep track of what’s happening when and where, be sure to download the free Disney Cruise Line Navigator app before your cruise.

This is where you can easily find ALL of the activities mentioned throughout this post, book select experiences, check out menus for the ship’s dining locations, and MUCH more!

Disney Cruise Room Types And Categories Explained

Home >> disney cruise guides >> disney cruise room types and categories explained.

Disney Cruise Room Types And Categories Explained Featured Image

One of the toughest choices you’ll have to make early on when planning a cruise is choosing your room location and category.  You must decide on your preferred stateroom location.  Upper deck or lower deck, forward vs aft, near certain activity locations or off in a secluded location, near an elevator; there are plenty of options. And then there is choosing your room ‘type’.  Inside, outside, veranda, or if you want to splurge… concierge . If that is not overwhelming enough each type, has sub-categories. And of course, every choice you make will affect your Disney Cruise price.

This article will attempt to simplify, or at least explain, all the options.

Disney Cruise stateroom definitions

Inside staterooms – outside stateroom.

The typical Disney Cruise deck with staterooms will have 2 corridors running the length of the ship.  Each corridor will have a row of inside staterooms and a row of outside cabins for a total of 4 rows of staterooms. Not every deck is filled with staterooms.  Some decks will only have staterooms forward or aft and occasionally only have staterooms port or starboard.  And of course, some decks are filled will non-stateroom rooms.

Here is a typical deck layout

Disney-Cruise-Room-inside-outside.png Featured Image

Disney Cruise Stateroom Categories

Disney does not make it easy.  Disney Cruise staterooms are categorized with a number and a letter…the exception being concierge rooms which are categorized with a letter and a letter.

The number corresponds to the room type…with the lower number being the most desirable (meaning expensive) room.

Category Numbers

The letter part of the stateroom category is not as straight forward or consistent.  They range from A-E.  In general, they refer to how desirable the location is.  The stateroom on the upper decks tend to be the most desirable as well as the decks in the middle of the ship.

So on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy a category of 5A would be a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah on Deck 10… the highest deck with non-concierge staterooms and a 2B is a Standard Inside Stateroom on Deck 2.

There are 3 types of portholes in staterooms without verandahs… 2 real and one not so real.  All non-verandah oceanview rooms have either 1 large or 2 portholes (smaller on the lower decks).  On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy all the inside staterooms have ‘Magic’ portholes… a virtual porthole displaying ocean scenes… with an occasional Disney character swimming by.

Main Image

There are 3 major types of Verandahs.

  • The  standard verandah  features an open-air balcony skirted by an acrylic wall, allowing for a full view of the horizon even while seated.
  • The  whitewall verandah  offers open-air lounging with a solid wall from the deck to the railing. Most of these staterooms are located in the aft portion of the ship.
  • The  navigator’s verandah  is enclosed for greater privacy while still affording a stunning view and sea breezes through a large, open-air porthole above the railing

Verandahs differ in size and style depending on which ship your are on and location and some verandahs have obstructed views. On connecting verandah staterooms, the partitions can be opened to create an even bigger balcony.

Main Image

Sleeping Arrangements

The typical stateroom on a Disney Cruise ship sleeps 3-4 people.  There will always be a queen-sized bed and the couch converts to a single bed.  For the rooms that sleep 4 there will be a ‘bunk bed’ that folds down from the ceiling over the couch bed.  There will be a few family deluxe rooms that holds a 5 th person.  That bed will fold down from the wall.

Concierge and suite rooms can sleep up to 7 with 1-2 queen beds and a variety of configuration of couch, bunk, wall beds. Some of these rooms have split living spaces and the largest has 1781 square feet.

All these different configurations seem complicated and space consuming.  Do not worry.  You stateroom host will expand all the beds and make them in the evening while you are at dinner and in the morning turn it back into a regular room.

Main Image

Split Bathrooms

One of the most unique things about Disney Cruise ships are the split bathrooms.  A split bathroom is where the a bathtub and sink is in one room and the toilet and a sink are in another room. Standard inside staterooms have a traditional bathroom while almost every other stateroom has a split bathroom.

Pros and Cons of an Inside Stateroom on Disney Cruise Line

disney cruise ship rooms

It can be difficult to choose the right stateroom for your family. When my family of five sails together on Disney Cruise Line we prefer to book two staterooms, so cost is always a factor, but so is comfort and convenience. Each time we have cruised at least one, and sometimes both of our rooms, have always been an inside stateroom. These rooms have lots of benefits, but a few downsides as well.

Two Types of Inside Staterooms on Disney Cruise Line

An inside stateroom on Disney Cruise Line is a room that is on the interior of the ship, so they have no porthole windows or balconies. When you book an inside stateroom, you have two choices:

disney cruise ship rooms

  • Standard Inside Stateroom
  • Deluxe Inside Stateroom

The difference? A Standard Deluxe Stateroom has a single bathroom with a toilet, sink and tub/shower unit. While a Deluxe Inside Stateroom has a split bathroom configuration where one bathroom has a toilet and sink, and the other has your tub/shower unit and another sink.

This is a Standard Inside Stateroom Layout.

Layout of a Standard Inside Stateroom on Disney Cruise Line.

This is a Deluxe Inside Stateroom layout.

Layout of a Deluxe Inside Stateroom on Disney Cruise Line.

Pro: Inside Staterooms Cost Less

The main perk of an inside stateroom is the cost. If you aren’t as interested in scenic views or extra square footage, and mainly use your room to sleep and shower, then this might be the perfect room for you.

Con: You Will Not Have an Exterior View

Inside staterooms have no windows and no balcony doors (I read that in the voice of your Ghost Host from the Haunted Mansion ). So, you will have no private view of the scenery as you sail through the Caribbean or the shoreline of Alaska .

On some itineraries, I am fine with this, specifically on a Bahamian or Western Caribbean cruise – both of which I have sailed multiple times. However, there have been times when the view was worth every penny.

If this is a once in a lifetime cruise for your family, I recommend getting the balcony.

Pro: Magic Portholes

Your inside stateroom may lack a real view, but Magic Portholes (exclusively on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy ) offer real-time views of the ship, and from time to time special visitors like Mickey, Donald or Aladdin will sail or fly by your window.

Pro or Con? Inside Staterooms Have No Natural Light

This is a pro for some, and a con for others. For us, this is a big pro!

My husband works odd hours. This means his daily schedule is independent of when the sun rises or sets. Having no natural light in the room allows him to sleep in and relax a little longer each morning. We also have three young adult children who like to sleep in on vacation.

And Like Anna in Frozen , when the sun is up, I am up, so I have had some of the best sleep of my life in these darkened cave-like rooms. Talk about relaxing!

Pro: Two Rooms are Better Than One

Sure, our family of five could technically sail in a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom (with or without a verandah), but we prefer to sail in two rooms. Inside staterooms may be some of the smallest rooms on the ship, but when you combine two, you get excellent space for the money, and more importantly, two rooms means we get two full bathrooms.

And with three kids, no one has to share a bed.

Bunks lowered in Inside Stateroom on Disney Cruise Line. (Disney Dream)

Update: Inside Staterooms on the Disney Wish

At this time, Disney Cruise Line only lists Standard Inside Staterooms in the Disney Wish’s stateroom inventory . There are no Deluxe Inside Staterooms on the ship. These rooms are approximately 169 square feet – which is the same size as on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

The artist renderings of these rooms do not show Magic Portholes, though the deck plans do list them as a feature (which could be old programming from room features on other ships). Instead, over the queen bed, we see a painting depicting Cinderella’s approach to the ball at the castle.

Image of an Inside Stateroom on the Disney Wish (Disney Cruise Line)

Another notable difference is the location of the television. Instead of residing in a movable frame next to the desk, it is mounted to the wall next to the bed, which could make for uncomfortable tv viewing.

Image of an Inside Stateroom on the Disney Wish. (Disney Cruise Line)

The Standard Inside Staterooms have a three-piece bathroom that includes a tub/toilet with a glass door, toilet, and sink.

disney cruise ship rooms

While the bedding and decor are updated, the overall layout is similar, with a few notable changes. The closets have been moved next to the vanity/desks, and the bathroom door opens out to the main room area – not sure if that is a choice I would have made. But as an avid inside stateroom cruiser, I am excited to experience a cruise in one of these beautiful rooms.

Image of an Inside Stateroom on the Disney Wish. (Disney Cruise Line)

The Biggest Pro of an Inside Stateroom: The Disney Service Standard is the Same!

When you book any stateroom on Disney Cruise Line, you can expect the same gold standard of service. Your amazing Stateroom Host (or room steward) will visit your room twice a day for housekeeping, turn-down service and to replenish towels and toiletries. You still have the same access to shows, dining and all other on-board activities as guests booked in more expensive rooms.

As avid cruisers, we like that having an inside stateroom frees up a little extra cash to spend elsewhere on our vacation. That’s not to say we don’t splurge on a verandah from time to time, but we know that we are perfectly happy no matter the category of room we book.

Need help choosing the right stateroom for your family. This episode of the DCL Show will help.

Types of Disney Cruise Cabins Overview

disney-wish-stateroom

Choosing the  D isney Cruise best rooms that are the best fit for your family can make or break your time at sea. There is nothing worse for a vacation than having a room too small to enjoy and make feel like your own. Especially if it’s a multi-day cruise! On the Disney Cruise Line , guests have a choice of 4 major room categories to choose from. All of these come in different sizes, sleep a different amount of guests, and have designated floors you’ll stay on. While all D isney Cruise Line staterooms  are designed for comfort, some are more comfortable than others and may be worth the extra expense. Before we dive into the best Disney Cruise rooms, let’s go over some basic knowledge that you’ll need to start planning your perfect Disney Cruise cabin.

What is a Disney Cruise Stateroom?

  • The D isney Cruise Line staterooms  will be the rooms you sleep in on board the ship. They are also referred to as cabins or rooms. But for most of the planning process and time on the ship, you will know it as a stateroom. So no matter what stateroom category you choose, your Disney Cruise Line staterooms are your home away from home while on the ship.

What is the Best Level to Stay on a Disney Cruise?

  • No matter if it’s the  best deck on Disney Wish , or any other deck on a ship in the DCL fleet, the best deck to stay on is two decks below any of the restaurants. This is typically decks 8 and 9 on most of the ships. This is typically because the restaurants that are open for breakfast start setting up before the sun rises and you can hear chairs and tables slamming on the floor, or rather your ceiling. But staying on decks 8 and 9 offers easy access to upper decks where pools and recreation are. While also just a quick trip away from lower deck theaters and the main atrium.

Important to Know : Entering the next class of rooms onboard the Disney Cruise Line , the Verandah rooms are the most popular option. Its reasonable price point, access to the ship’s amenities, and private balcony make it the go-to room for many guests. On every ship, this is a serene setting to unwind in while at sea, this room type offers generous square footage and a private place to admire the view. The extra square footage can come in handy for larger families or families with more than two little ones.

Size : 246 – 268 sq. ft.

Sleeps : 3 – 4 Guests

Important to Know : While available on all ships, the Deluxe Oceanview Verandah room is one of the best  D isney Dream cruise rooms . Like the Family Verandah, it hosts enough space for you to feel comfortable while also allowing you a private space on the side of the ship to enjoy the views and fresh sea air. Making it the perfect room to watch the sunrise, bask in ocean breezes and, enjoy your morning coffee or an evening nightcap.

Important to Know : While not much changes about These  D isney Cruise staterooms , the private balcony for these rooms can vary quite a bit. While you will still have patio furniture and a great view of the ocean, it might be reduced in size or impeded in some way. However, some cruises say it’s a great way to save a couple of bucks while still enjoying everything there is to have in a Verandah room.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Navigator’s Verandah

disney-wish-navigator-verandah-stateroom

Price : $2,700+

Important to Know : The least expensive D isney Cruise room with a balcony , the Navigator’s Verandah is a smaller and more enclosed private verandah for you to enjoy. Like the obstructed or undersized verandah, nothing will change about the room itself. I loved my experience with the Navigator’s Verandah as it gave me more privacy when using the balcony. It also adds a sense of security since the only open space is the round port hole. My favorite aspect of this room is that it is less expensive and also has less wind making it easier to enjoy a meal on the balcony.

Important to Know : Boasting more square footage than a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom, these spacious quarters feature one large porthole as your outlook to the sea. Depending on what room you receive and on what ship, you may even have two port holes in one room! While you can sometimes find these rooms on higher decks like 8 and 9, they are mostly located lower on the ship. The majority of these rooms are located on decks 5 and 6. These D isney Cruise cabins  are ideal for families who don’t need the private verandah. The rooms are essentially the same without the balcony!

If you’re looking to go on a Disney Cruise for a discount , you’ll find comfort in the Oceanview Stateroom. Important to Know : Available on every ship except the Disney Wish, the Deluxe Family Inside Stateroom is ideal for guests looking to use their room simply as a place to sleep and store their belongings. While this room is by no means a  luxury Disney Cruise suite , it still is donned with incredible fabrics and comfortable bedding. On Disney Dream and Fantasy, these rooms also have “Magic Portholes”. These are LED screens in the shape of a circle showing the “ocean” outside. If you keep an eye out, you’ll see some of your favorite Disney Characters float (or swim) by!

Size : 169 – 184 sq. ft.

Important to Know : The smallest of all staterooms, the Standard Inside Staterooms are the best  D isney Cruise rooms  to stay in if you’re cruising on a budget. Although small, it is the perfect size for someone sailing by themselves or with one other person. Personally, even though it technically can sleep up to 4 guests, I wouldn’t recommend this room for anyone traveling with more than 2 people total. The space, while designed usefully, is small and can feel very cramped when getting ready for dinners or other events your sailing might have.

Best Disney Cruise Rooms FAQ

f-a-q

Q: Which is the Best Deck to stay on a Disney Wish Cruise Ship?

A: If you’re not staying in a Concierge-level stateroom, the best deck to stay on Disney Wish  is deck 9. On this deck, you will be only 2 decks below the main dining areas and pools. You could stay on deck 10 which is directly below the main amenity deck 11. But book your room with caution! If you stay directly under high-traffic areas, there is a chance you can hear people running around or the Crew Members preparing the restaurants at odd hours.

Q: Which side of the Disney Cruise Ship to stay on?

A: This is up to you! There is no “bad side” of a Disney ship nor does it change the price you pay. The biggest difference in what side of the ship you stay on is what view you want to have while docked at ports of call. If you want the potential to see beaches and other ships, I recommend booking a room on the starboard (right) side of the ship. But if you’d like to be able to watch people running to the ship at the very last minute, a room on the port (left) side will be best for you.

Q: What is the Best Part of the Ship to stay on Disney Wish?

A: For all cruisers, but especially if it’s your first time sailing or you are prone to seasickness, the best location on Disney Cruise ship is to stay in mid or the middle of the ship. This is where you will feel less of the ship’s movement and more stability as you sail to your destinations. However, I have stayed in both the Mid and Aft (back) of the ship and had a better experience in the back!

Q: What is the most Luxurious Stateroom in Disney  Cruise Ship?

A: By far the most luxurious stateroom on a Disney ship is the Tower Suite on the Disney Wish and soon-to-sail Disney Treasure. This stateroom is a first of its kind and is a full two-deck room in the ship’s forward tunnel. On the Disney Wish, the room is themed to the animated film Moana . While on the soon-to-sail Disney Treasure, it is going to be EPCOT-themed! This will mark the first room themed after one of the Disney Theme Parks! We can’t wait to see this new ship and all it has to offer so make sure to check back for more updates!

Essential Guide to the Disney Wish Staterooms

Posted on Published: 05/02/2023

Dinsey introduced its fifth ship in the fleet, the Disney Wish, in 2022. This ship is in a brand new class, the Triton class, with some major design differences from the Dream class and the Magic class of cruise ships. While the stateroom categories and general layouts will seem familiar to some guests, there are some distinct differences. Here’s our essential guide to the Disney Wish staterooms, which should help you make a decision on what to book.

Disney Wish docked at Castaway Cay with small beach in the foreground (Disney Wish staterooms post)

I’ve had the opportunity to sail on the Disney Wish twice now, and have enjoyed it. The first sailing was a four-day cruise that was extended to six due to Hurricane Ian in the Caribbean, so I had plenty of time to thoroughly explore the ship.

The Disney Wish offers 1,254 staterooms (including 53 concierge staterooms and 23 concierge suites) and can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers (depending on stateroom occupancy) and 1,555 crew members. The number of concierge rooms on this ship surpasses the past ships, which can make booking some experiences a little more challenging if you don’t have this type of room.

While the Disney Wish is slightly larger in gross tonnage (GT) than the Dream class ships, the number of passengers is about the same. The restaurants, activities, and amenities on the Wish are different from the other ships, making it really fun to explore even if you are very familiar with the cruise line.

Types of Staterooms Rooms on the Disney Wish

The general types of staterooms on the Disney Wish are similar to the other ships. The most popular type of room is a verandah stateroom, which is how Disney refers to those rooms with balconies.

There are 1,254 staterooms, which include 53 concierge staterooms and 23 concierge suites. In this number, there are 1,133 outside staterooms (with 948 verandah staterooms and 185 oceanview staterooms), and 121 inside staterooms.

When booking your stateroom, you may find an option for GTY (or a guaranteed stateroom to be assigned). With this type of room, you’ll save some money, but won’t be able to choose your stateroom location. You will, however, be at least guaranteed a specific category of room.

Otherwise, you can choose your specific stateroom right when you book. It’s a good idea to take a look at the layout of the ship before you book so you’ll have a good idea of where to stay.

On this particular ship, there are only two elevator banks – with one in the aft and one in the forward. There are no midship elevators on the Disney Wish. Prices generally vary a bit based on location.

Accessible rooms are also available. You’ll want to choose a specific accessible stateroom when booking

Here are the various Disney Wish stateroom options:

Standard Inside Stateroom – these rooms can either sleep three or four. There’s a queen bed and a single convertible sofa. Those rooms that accommodate four also have an upper berth pull-down bed (making bunk beds over the sofa). As the name implies, these are interior rooms with no exterior views.

Oceanview Staterooms – these rooms do have a view, but not a verandah. Instead, you’ll have a porthole that you can look out of to see the ocean.

Within this category, there are regular staterooms as well as deluxe family staterooms. The deluxe family staterooms can sleep 4 to 5 – some of them have a pulldown Murphy bed in addition to the convertible sofa, upper berth pull-down, and queen bed. Be sure to confirm the configuration before you book.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – this is the most popular room type on the Disney Wish. It includes a queen bed, a convertible sofa, and an upper berth pull-down bed. These rooms have a verandah, which is a nice balcony where you can enjoy some time watching the ocean. Verandahs also add some extra space because you’ll be able to go outside right from your room.

If you need more room or have a family of five, there’s also a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. There are fewer of these but they are great because they also have the pull-down Murphy bed in addition to the other bedding options. I like these rooms for families with older kids because they may not want to sleep in the top bunk.

The Disney Wish also offers concierge staterooms. These rooms offer concierge benefits which include the following. These are great amenities but do come with an extra cost:

  • Ability to book activities and premium dining in advance – 130 days before your set sail date
  • A dedicated concierge to assist with booking activities
  • Priority boarding at the port to save time with shorter lines
  • Dedicated concierge sun deck (can be great on a hot day when lounge chairs are hard to come by)
  • Access to the concierge lounge which offers food throughout the day as well as an open bar in the evening

Here are the types of concierge rooms: Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – these rooms have 1 king bed, a convertible sofa (single), an upper-berth single pull-down bed, and a single pull-down Murphy bed. Note that while these rooms have upgraded touches, they are still staterooms and not a suite.

Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom – Some of these sleep four, while others sleep five. The rooms that sleep five have the same bed configuration as the Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, and the ones that sleep four just don’t have the pull-down Murphy bed.

These rooms don’t have verandahs and instead have floor-to-ceiling windows that look out into the ocean.

Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Verandah – these rooms sleep five with one bedroom with a king bed and a separate living room area with a double convertible sofa and single wall pull-down bed. There are two full bathrooms in these rooms including one bathroom with double sinks. There’s also a wet bar with sodas and water as well as a walk-in closet.

Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Extended Verandah – these rooms are the same as the one above, but have a larger, extended verandah.

Concierge 1-Story Royal Suite with Verandah – there is one of these concierge suites, located on Deck 10. It offers two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a walk-in closet in each bedroom, a verandah with a hot tub, a wet bar with soda and water, a living area, and a dining area.

Concierge Wish Tower Suite – the most exciting stateroom on the Disney Wish is the one-of-a-kind Concierge Wish Tower Suite. This two-story, Moana-themed suite is located on decks 14 and 15 in the funnel. It has private elevator access.

The Tower Suite offers a two-story living area, a spiral staircase, two main bedrooms, a children’s room, a combo library/bedroom, four and a half bathrooms, two walk-in closets, a wet bar stocked with soda and water, and a dining area. It’s an extremely luxurious suite, and there is only one of them on board the Disney Wish.

Closet in a Disney Wish stateroom showing open shelves

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

Most families will find that the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah is the perfect combination of amenities and cost for their vacation. While it isn’t nearly as luxurious as the suites, this stateroom category is great for a family of three or four.

These rooms include the popular split bathroom that other Disney ships offer. While each of these bathrooms has a sink, one has a toilet and one has a shower. This is perfect for families because two people can be getting ready at the same time.

This room also includes a cooler (similar to a refrigerator), a television, lots of USB outlets and standard outlets, a hair dryer, a safe, a desk, and a closet. While I’d prefer standard drawers for clothes, the Disney Wish has more open shelves. You may want to bring packing cubes which can be a great way to keep your clothes organized.

FAQ about the Disney Wish Staterooms

Yes, unless you book a GTY stateroom, you’ll be able to choose the deck and location of your room. Some locations and decks may be a little more expensive than others.

It really depends. Most people like central locations, but there are no midship elevators on the Wish. Top decks are also popular, but you may want to be closer to the kids’ clubs.

There are connecting rooms available. You can see them on the deck plan when you book to make sure you are choosing connecting options. You can also ask your stateroom host to open the verandah, if you have one.

Yes, there are suites available within the concierge category, and some of these have a separate room.

If you aren’t going to spend too much time in the room, you can save money by getting one of the cheaper room types. However, I love having the ocean view, and enjoy spending time outside.

Disney Wonder Staterooms – What You Need to Know

Sharing is caring!

Which are the best Disney Wonder Staterooms? If you are planning to sail on a Disney Wonder cruise it is important to make the right choice of stateroom for you and your family.

I have sailed many times on Disney Wonder and have booked many different types of staterooms.

Here is the ultimate insider Disney Wonder stateroom guide with pictures so that you know what to expect.

  • Disney Wonder Staterooms Guide

tippingonadisneycruise

Disney cruise lines are known for their larger-than-average staterooms.

However, before you can make a choice you need to know what Disney Wonder staterooms are available.

The Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic are both the same basic design of ship.

This means that the stateroom descriptions and categories are almost exactly the same for both Disney Wonder and Magic.

What are the Different Types of Disney Wonder Staterooms?

What is standard in each disney wonder stateroom, disney wonder standard inside stateroom, disney wonder deluxe inside stateroom, disney wonder deluxe oceanview stateroom.

  • Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with Navigator's Verandah

Disney Wonder Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

What is a white wall verandah, disney wonder deluxe family oceanview stateroom with verandah, disney wonder secret staterooms, disney wonder secret porthole staterooms, disney wonder secret verandah staterooms, disney wonder concierge staterooms, disney wonder concierge deluxe family oceanview stateroom with verandah, disney wonder concierge 1 bedroom suite with verandah, concierge 2 bedroom suite with verandah, disney wonder concierge royal suite with verandah.

There are 9 different categories of staterooms on the Disney Wonder.

These are Categories 11 to 4 for Staterooms and 3 Categories for Disney Wonder Concierge Staterooms and Suites.

The staterooms are also divided into subcategories according to which deck they are on and for some according to the view they have from the window or balcony.

disneywonderstateroom

So you will see categories 4 to 11 with letters after the number.

The letters go from A to E with A being the higher of the subcategories.

Higher decks are seen as more desirable so they will usually be in a higher-priced subcategory.

Obstructed view staterooms will usually be in a lower subcategory.

You will see that most of the staterooms have what is known as a ‘split bathroom’. What this means is that there are 2 separate rooms.

One has the shower over a small bath and separate sink vanity.

The other has a toilet and another sink vanity.

There are certain amenities that you will find inside each Disney Wonder stateroom:

Beverage Cooler . We use the term beverage cooler rather than refrigerator as it isn’t actually particularly cold. It will keep things cool but not chilled. If you need to chill beverages just ask your cabin steward for ice.

An ice bucket and four small glasses are found as standard in your stateroom.

disneycruiseglasses

If you want wine glasses ask your cabin steward or bring them from one of the Disney Wonder bars.

There is plenty of closet and drawer space in your Disney Wonder stateroom.

disney cruise ship rooms

There is an adjustable-height coffee table along with a large desk and a small backless stool that fits underneath the desk.

There is plenty of desk space.

In the drawer, you will find the card which you would leave out to order breakfast room service .

You will also find some postcards and other stationery.

disneywonderdesk

The desk space is very generous for a cruise stateroom.

We always find that we have a lot of electronics on there to charge!

Remember that power strips are prohibited on a Disney cruise.

disney cruise ship rooms

There is an electronic safe located in the closet.

It is big enough for passports and valuables, but not large enough to hold a laptop.

disneywonderhairdryer

You will find 2 hair dryers in the Disney Wonder staterooms.

Avoid the one in the bathroom.

It is fixed to the wall and gets incredibly hot.

It also reminds me of something from the 80s!

The hairdryer you will want to use is located in one of the desk drawers.

It is fine, but many guests will want to bring their own.

Each Disney Wonder stateroom has its own adjustable thermostat.

You will also find a desk phone . The desk phone is useful for calling Room Service and Guest Services.

There is a flat-screen television in each Disney Wonder stateroom.

It is mounted on a flexible arm so it is movable to an extent.

The Disney Wonder stateroom television has a number of channels including of course Disney Channel.

Since the Disney Wonder dry dock, it does now have the interactive television which the Fantasy and Dream have.

So if you want to catch up with a Disney movie now is your chance!

However, make sure that you look out for the stage shows which are shown every day.

There is also a useful map so you can see where you are at sea and how fast you are sailing.

There is a very thick privacy curtain that separates the living from the sleeping area.

This is a really nice feature as it can make it a lot easier to travel with others in your Disney Wonder stateroom.

Most of the Disney Wonder staterooms have what is known as the split bathroom . This is where there are 2 rooms for the bathroom.

One has a toilet and a sink.

The other has a small bathtub with a shower and an additional sink.

This split bath design is very popular and makes it a lot easier to share a stateroom with other people!

One of the very nice features of all Disney Wonder staterooms is the complimentary Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap, and Body Lotion.

This was always the H2O brand but this is being discontinued so we are not sure what the replacement will be.

You used to get individual small bottles which were replenished each day. However, Disney cruise lines have announced that this will be discontinued for environmental reasons and will be replaced with toiletries in a dispenser.

If you are fortunate enough to be sailing in a Disney Wonder concierge stateroom you will have complimentary Elemis products. You can also find these in the spa changing rooms.

Disney Cruise Packing Guide Essentials

Things You Must Not Do In Your Disney Cruise Cabin

These are Category 11 staterooms . Each is 184 square feet. Each has a Queen size bed with a single convertible sofa bed.

There is a privacy divider between the main sleeping and the living area.

disney cruise inside stateroom

There is also a bathroom.

The standard inside staterooms are the only staterooms not to have a split bath arrangement.

Each Standard Inside Stateroom sleeps up to 3 or 4 guests.

They are located on Decks 2, 5, 6 and 7.

Here is a video of a Disney Wonder Standard Inside Stateroom so you can see exactly what to expect.

Unfortunately, the Disney Wonder Inside Staterooms does not have the virtual porthole which the inside cabins on the Disney Fantasy and Dream have.

This is a very popular feature, but it could not be retrofitted on the classic ships.

I expect that you will see a virtual porthole on the new Disney ships , the first of which will debut in 2021.

I would highly recommend this category of stateroom if you are looking for a way to save money. Typically these are the least expensive staterooms on the Disney Wonder.

Don’t get me wrong, space is pretty tight.

Particularly for 3 guests.

I wouldn’t want to sail with 4 adults in one of these Inside cabins as I think that would be a very tight fit.

However, with adults and children, it should be just fine.

The storage space is so brilliantly thought out in a Disney stateroom. There is plenty of hanging space and drawers.

Do I miss the split bathroom? I think to be honest I really do. However, I found that I used the showers in the gym a lot. This has the advantage of the availability of some very nice free Elemis products in the shower.

The Deck 7 Disney Wonder Inside Staterooms are the most desirable.

It is easy to get to the pool deck and the buffet. I particularly like the staterooms on Deck 7 aft as you can use the quieter aft elevators or even the “hidden” back stairs to easily get to the buffet.

If you are looking for an inside stateroom with quite a bit more space then at 214 square feet then the Category 10 Deluxe Inside Stateroom would be a good choice.

Each Deluxe Inside Stateroom sleeps up to 4 guests and has a Queen bed with a single convertible sofa. If the cabin sleeps 4 it will have a pull-down bunk over the sleeper sofa.

These Disney Wonder Deluxe Inside Staterooms feature the very popular split bathroom.

disneywondersplitbathroom

These staterooms are located on Decks 1, 2, 5 and 7.

I would prefer not to be on Deck 1. However, if you think that you may be prone to seasickness this may be a great choice as there is less movement the lower you are on the ship.

Deck 5 is a great location if you want to be close to the kid’s clubs . I am not sure how I feel about Deck 5 staterooms now my kids are older.

Because of the design of Deck 5, there aren’t many staterooms.

Obviously, there aren’t any mid-ship staterooms either because that is where the kid’s clubs and the atrium are. Deck 5 was fine, but I am not sure I would choose it.

I was allocated a Deck 5 stateroom as a Guarantee so saved a lot.

My personal preference is Deck 7 as you are close to the pool deck.

However, the higher you are on the ship, generally the higher the price.

disneywonderoceanview

These are the same size and design as the Disney Wonder Inside Staterooms.

However, the difference is that they have either one large or two small windows.

The Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms are all Category 9 and have 214 square feet of space.

They have a Queen and a single sleeper sofa. There is a split bathroom.

disney cruise ship rooms

Oceanview staterooms are on Decks 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7.

The staterooms on Deck 1 have the smaller windows and therefore not such a good view.

I am not a fan of Deck 1, but I know many others are.

Often you will get a lower price for a Deck 1 stateroom so it could be a good choice.

Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with Navigator’s Verandah

These Staterooms are a unique design to Disney cruise ships. It is a very unusual design and very popular with guests.

They have an enclosed private verandah, so you have more space and view.

However, you do not have any true outside space.

The window does not open.

Disneycruisesandiego

There are just 26 of these true Navigator’s Verandah staterooms on Disney Wonder and Magic.

They are very popular and tend to be booked quickly.

The Disney Navigator’s Verandah cabins are classified as Category 7 staterooms.

All are located on decks 5, 6, and 7.

There are another 4 staterooms (6134, 6634, 7120, 7620) which are category 7 and are described as Navigator’s verandah staterooms, but they do not have the enclosed verandah.

They have verandahs with obstructed views as they are located on Deck 6 aft and wrap around the hull.

They can be a good choice though if you are aware of this, and want to save some money instead of going to a Category 6 or 5 Verandah stateroom.

The Navigator’s Verandah staterooms are 268 square feet including the verandah.

They sleep up to 4 guests and have a Queen Bed with a single sofa bed.

They also have a split bathroom.

These staterooms are 268 square feet. This includes the verandah.

All Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with Verandahs have a Queen size bed and a single sleeper sofa.

They sleep 3 or 4 guests. The staterooms that sleep 4 have a bunk that pulls down from the ceiling.

All of these Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms are classified as either Category 5 or 6.

disneywonderstateroom

There are 114 Category 5 Staterooms on the Wonder and Magic and they are all of Deck 7.

Category 6 are on decks 5 and 6 and has slightly larger verandahs.

I have stayed in this type of stateroom and it is probably my favorite.

I really wouldn’t have any particular preference for any particular Deck. The price generally increases the higher the deck.

I would usually choose Category 5E.

These Disney cruise balcony staterooms have a white wall verandah.

They are usually the lowest priced of the Disney Verandah staterooms for this reason alone.

disneywonderwhitewallstateroom

All the other balconies have plexiglass and are see-through.

You can, therefore, see the ocean when you are sitting down.

If you have a white wall verandah your view of the ocean is restricted when you are sitting down.

disneywonderwhitewallverandah

As you will see from this picture of the Disney Wonder white wall verandah stateroom balcony you can’t see much of the view unless you are standing up.

disneycruisepackingtips

This is the conventional plexiglass balcony so you can see the difference.

On my last cruise, this saved me around $450 for 5 nights over having a standard verandah.

For me, the minor inconvenience was worth the saving.

Category 5E does have some of the largest balconies on the Disney Wonder.

This is because this is the point where the ship curves around.

Disney Wonder Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah Review

These are all Category 4 and are located on Deck 8.

These Disney Wonder Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah are a great option for larger families.

This is because they sleep up to 5 guests. This is rare for a cruise ship stateroom to sleep so many guests in one cabin.

Each Family Oceanview balcony stateroom has a Queen bed and a convertible sofa with a pull-down bed over it.

There is also a pull-down Murphy bed at the end of the stateroom, across the balcony door.

You can see my complete review of the Disney Wonder Family Oceanview Stateroom if you click here .

The design of the room makes great use of the space available.

However, access to the verandah is a little difficult when the pull-down bed is still down.

When I say difficult I mean you have to climb on the bed and then open the door to the balcony!

Your steward will move this for you each morning and evening though if you are using it for a 5th guest.

The bathroom is just the same split design as most of the other staterooms on the ship.

It is particularly useful to have this split bath design when there are 5 of you in this cabin! That is a lot of people competing for the shower in the morning.

You may have heard that there are some staterooms on the Disney Wonder which are a great value as they are sold as a lower category.

These staterooms definitely do exist on the Disney Wonder. The reason they are sold as a lower category is that they don’t quite fit into the description and Disney cruise lines feel that it would be unfair to put them in the general category.

disneywondersecretstaterooms

For instance, a stateroom may be categorized as an inside stateroom because it has a porthole with an obstructed view.

Therefore it wouldn’t be fair to charge full price for an ocean view as your view is blocked by something.

These secret staterooms are limited and highly sought after.

These secret porthole Disney Wonder staterooms are sold at Category 10 Inside Staterooms, but they do have a porthole with an obstructed view.

You can take a look at this video to see a typical secret porthole stateroom. As you will see, the obstruction here is that of the ship’s lifeboats.

It is a great choice as you do get somewhat of a view as well as being able to enjoy the natural light in the stateroom.

This shows Disney Wonder stateroom 5024.

Most of these Disney Wonder secret porthole staterooms are located on Deck 5.

This is the Deck with the Kids Clubs and so this makes them particularly suitable for families with young children.

You are also very close to the Buena Vista Theater on Deck 5.

The Deck 5 secret porthole cabins are 5020, 5520, 5022, 5024,5522, and 5524.

If you are looking for connecting staterooms then 5022 and 5024 connect, as do 5522 and 5524.

There are just two secret porthole cabins on Deck 6 of the Disney Wonder. They are 6006 and 6506. These staterooms on Deck 6 offer the least obstructed views.

On Deck 5 you are best with 5020 and 5520 as they have the least obstructed views. 5022 and 5522 are next.

You will have the most obstructed views in 5024 and 5524.

If you want these secret porthole staterooms you do need to be quick. Usually, they are amongst the first to be booked when cruises are released.

Category 7A on the Disney Wonder is one to look out for.

These four staterooms are known by insiders as the “Secret” Verandah staterooms.

These secret verandah cabins are numbered 6134, 6634, 7120, and 7620.

There are 2 on each side of the Disney Wonder and they are usually priced as the cheapest category of Verandah stateroom.

The reason why they have a Category all of their own is that they have an obstructed view.

I think they offer excellent value as the obstruction is minimal.

If you are saving hundreds of dollars off a Disney cruise but still getting a balcony I think it is an option well worth considering!

Here you can see a video of a secret verandah stateroom. This is on the Disney Magic in the video, but this is identical to the stateroom on the Disney Wonder.

If Concierge is in your budget I would highly recommend that you give it a try.

disney wonder concierge lounge

There are now 4 Categories of Concierge Stateroom on Disney Wonder.

These range from restyled Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah to the Walt Disney Suite.

disney wonder concierge deck

Concierge guests have access to upgraded amenities in their stateroom.

This includes upgraded down duvets, Elemis products, a Pillow Menu, Plush Robe, and Slippers.

The main attractions, of course, are exclusive access to the Concierge Lounge and Sun Deck.

This is a relatively new category of stateroom on the Disney Wonder.

These used to be Category 4 Family Oceanview with Verandah Staterooms.

However, when the Disney Wonder went into dry dock a selection of mid-ship cabins on Deck 8 got the upgraded decor treatment.

disney wonder concierge cabin

The biggest change was the makeover of concierge staterooms.

disney wonder concierge family stateroom

Guests of these rooms have all the perks of Concierge. The price went up accordingly!

Each of these Concierge staterooms is exactly the same in layout as the Disney Wonder Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah.

These are now known as Category V.

These are the Category T staterooms that sleep up to 5 guests and have 614 square feet of space.

These suites have a separate bedroom with a Queen size bed and a separate living room with a double sofa bed.

All the suites also have a pull-down twin bed. Some are in the living area, others in the bedroom.

A great feature of the suite is that it has 2 bathrooms. The verandah is very spacious at double the width of standard verandahs on the ship.

disney wonder one bed suite

All of the Disney Wonder Concierge One Bed Suites are located on Deck 8.

They are very popular and are usually amongst the first categories to book.

At 945 square feet, which includes the triple-wide verandah, these beautiful suites give you plenty of space. Each suite is in Category S.

They have 2 bedrooms which each have a Queen size bed.

The living area has a double sofa bed. There are walk-in closets, a wet bar, a DVD player, and a total of two and a half bathrooms.

One has a jacuzzi tub.

Again these suites book up very quickly. There are 2 suites on the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic both of which are located on Deck 8.

They sleep up to 7 guests.

If you want the ultimate in luxury then Category R Royal Suites will certainly make you very happy!

There are only two suites on each ship and they are named the Walter E. Disney Suite and the Roy O. Disney Suite.

Both are located on Deck 8.

Each suite sleeps up to seven guests in unrivaled comfort. They have two bedrooms.

One has a Queen bed and the other has two twin beds and two pull-down beds.

disneywonderroyodisneysuite

There is a large living room with a wall pull-down bed, dining area, wet bar, and walk-in closets.

The suites have 2 and a half bathrooms (one with a jacuzzi tub).

With 1029 square feet of the total area including the verandah you are going to have a lot of space to enjoy.

What a wonderful, descriptive article! Thank you! We have our first cruise EVER booked for the Wonder to Alaska in September (we live in Vancouver, so it’s easy access to the ship) we have a deluxe ocean view stateroom booked (My husband, Eight year old son and myself) and I am wondering if the rooms get stuffy at night while sleeping? Since we cannot open the window for any fresh air. Is this something you can advise on?

Wednesday 6th of March 2024

Thank you! I am very glad that you enjoyed the article. A Disney cruise to Alaska is such a great choice - you are going to love the experience! I have sailed in every type of stateroom on Disney Wonder, including the oceanview and have never thought that the staterooms get stuffy. Enjoy your cruise!

Hi Alison -- you've answered many of my questions, as I'm ready to book Disney Alaska (Wonder) and can't decide on a room type. I'm leaning toward a Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms w/Verandahs; you mention that Deck 7 / Category 5E have white wall verandahs which require standing to see views. That doesn't work for me . . . short in stature. You go on to mention that, "All the other balconies have plexiglass and are see through." Could you please tell me on which Deck(s) and in which Category the plexiglass verandahs are located? Many thanks for your help!! :)

Tuesday 20th of April 2021

You will find the plexiglass balconies on Decks 5,6, and 7. There are also limited Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah on Deck 8 - these tend to be the most expensive as there aren't many of them and they Sleep 5 so are very popular. The aft verandah staterooms on all decks have a white wall - so be careful to not select one of these. The booking system or your travel agent, will tell you which these are.

Which Disney Cruise Ship is the Best? Everything You Need to Know.

Wondering which Disney Cruise ship is the best? We’re breaking down all your options when sailing on Disney Cruise Line.

With so many different Disney Cruise Line ships to choose from, how do you know which is best for you and your travel party?  We’ve got you covered! In this guide we will break down what is offered on each ship, what amenities are special to any particular Disney Cruise Line ship, and more.

Which Disney Cruise Line Ship is Best?

Choosing a ship all boils down to personal preference, but let’s start by giving some basic background on each of the five (soon to be six) Disney Cruise Line ships. First is the Disney Magic , which had its maiden voyage in 1998. Next is the Magic’s sister ship, the Disney Wonder which first set sail in 1999. Over 10 years later, Disney Cruise Line debuted its third ship – the Disney Dream , in 2011.

The sister ship to the Disney Dream is the Disney Fantasy , which set sail one year later in 2012. The newest Disney Cruise Line ship is the Disney Wish , which had its maiden voyage in 2022. And the sixth ship, the Disney Treasure , is set to sail for its first time in 2024.

Different Options on Each

Now, each ship is unique in its way, offering different amenities, entertainment options, sit-down restaurants, and more. But, we do want to note that every Disney ship includes character meet and greets, activities such as trivia, drawing classes, alcohol seminars, cooking seminars, and more. And that’s not even mentioning pools, an adults-only section, adults-only restaurants, and Senses Spa.

They all also host “Mickey’s Sail-A-Wave Party!… A Bon Voyage Celebration” which is performed on deck on the first day of your voyage, and every Disney Cruise Line ship has a Pirate Night featuring a deck stage show and fireworks presentation. With that being said, let’s dive into each ship and try to figure out which one is best for you and your party.

Disney Magic

With a capacity of just over 2,700 passengers and 875 staterooms, this Disney Cruise Line ship is a bit on the smaller side compared to other ships in the fleet, but that doesn’t mean it is short of offering entertainment, food, and other amenities. Its decor is considered an Art Deco design.

Photo courtesy of Disney Parks Blog

The Disney Magic holds nightly entertainment in the Walt Disney Theater, which includes Broadway-style shows – but there are some shows that you won’t find on any other cruise ship, and only on the Disney Magic, including Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story  and Tangled, the Musical .

Rotational Dining Restaurants

The three main dining halls on the Disney Magic are:

  • Rapunzel’s Royal Table: Celebrate Rapunzel’s birthday with a German-inspired feast.
  • Animator’s Palate: A version of Animator’s Palate is offered on every ship.
  • Lumiere’s: Themed to Beauty and the Beast , which means it, of course, features French cuisine.

The Disney Magic typically sails to the Caribbean, but during certain times of the year also sails to the Bahamas, Canada, New York, and Europe.

Who Is It Best For?

This comes down to personal preference. This ship is a bit on the smaller side, so the atrium and the pools may feel a bit more packed compared to other ships, such as the Disney Wish or the Disney Fantasy, so that is something to take into consideration. Plus, if you are looking for a shorter, tropical vacation, we recommend going on the Disney Magic for a four-night voyage to the Bahamas.

Disney Wonder

Next on the list is the Disney Wonder. While this is the sister ship to the Disney Magic, there are both similarities and differences offered on board.

Screenshot from video by Kathleen Lee

For starters, the capacity is the same as the Magic – just over 2,700 passengers and 875 staterooms, however, the design is a bit different than the Magic. While the Magic has an art deco design, the Wonder has an Art Nouveau design. Regarding entertainment offerings, the Broadway-style shows offered include The Golden Mickeys , Disney Dreams – An Enchanted Classic , and Frozen, A Musical Spectacular.

The three main dining halls on the Disney Wonder are:

  • Tiana’s Place: Dine with Tiana and listen to live jazz music, while enjoying a classic southern Louisiana-inspired menu.
  • Animator’s Palate: On the Wonder, Animator’s Palate teaches voyagers about the evolution of animation while enjoying their meal. The experience here is different than on other ships.
  • Triton’s: The Little Mermaid -inspired restaurant serving French cuisine.

The Disney Wonder offers a variety of itineraries which include stops in Alaska, the Mexican Riviera, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and passages through the Panama Canal. On Alaskan voyages specifically, the Disney Wonder also hosts a Frozen -themed evening, where there’s a special Frozen stage show and voyagers dress up as their favorite character from the animated movie.

Again, this all comes down to personal preference but we say that The Disney Wonder is best for those looking for a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. Sailing to Alaska is like nothing else you have ever experienced, (I know because I was lucky enough to have done it).

Plus, for those “Frozen” fans, having an entire night dedicated to the animated film is pure magic.

Disney Dream

With a capacity of 4,000 passengers and 1,250 staterooms, this Disney Cruise Line ship is almost double the size of the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. Its decor is considered golden art deco but one of the best parts about the Dream is that in the atrium, a stunning chandelier made up of Swarovski crystals dangles from the ceiling, which is covered with 24-karat gold plating!

Regarding entertainment offerings, the Broadway-style shows offered include “The Golden Mickeys” (like on the Disney Wonder), “Beauty and the Beast,” inspired by the live-action remake of the classic animated film, and “Disney’s Believe.” The Disney Dream also offers Marvel Day at Sea on select sailings.

The three main dining halls on the Disney Dream are:

  • Animator’s Palate: What makes Animator’s Palate on the Dream different than the Magic or the Wonder is that the entertainment offered during your meal features Crush from “Finding Nemo” who will speak to Guests at their tables.
  • Enchanted Garden: This restaurant is inspired by the gardens of Versailles.
  • Royal Palace: This is considered the upscale restaurant on the Disney Dream, and is themed to the Disney Princess films and features a French and American-inspired menu.

One thing to note is that the restaurants on the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy are nearly identical.  The Disney Dream currently offers three, four, and five-night sailings to the Bahamas and the Western Caribbean stopping in Cozumel and Grand Cayman – plus it sails to Disney’s private island Castaway Cay.

If you are looking specifically to sail to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, we recommend either the Disney Dream or the Disney Fantasy. The main difference between the two is that the Disney Dream offers shorter sailings, while the Disney Fantasy offers longer sailings (such as seven nights.)

Disney Fantasy

With a capacity of 4,000 passengers and 1,250 staterooms, this Disney Cruise Line ship is the same size as its sister, the Dream, and almost double the size of the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. Similar to the Dream, the Fantasy also has a stunning chandelier in the atrium, but what makes this one different from the one on its sister ship is that this chandelier features a stained-glass peacock-inspired design. The overall design is considered art nouveau.

The Broadway-style stage shows offered on Disney Fantasy are Frozen, A Musical Spectacular, Disney’s Believe (just like on the Dream), and Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular. Plus, Disney Fantasy offers Pixar Day at Sea, which is exclusive to this ship.

The only difference between the dining halls on the Dream and the Fantasy is that the Royal Palace on the Dream is called the Royal Court on the Fantasy. Otherwise, the restaurants offer the same menus and the same sit-down restaurant designs/styles.

  • Animator’s Palate
  • Enchanted Garden
  • Royal Court

While the Disney Dream offers a Western Caribbean itinerary, the Fantasy offers an Eastern Caribbean itinerary, with stops at Mexico, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands. The Fantasy also sails to Disney’s private island Castaway Cay.

As mentioned above, if you are looking specifically to sail to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, we recommend either the Disney Dream or the Disney Fantasy. Again, the main difference between the two is that the Disney Dream offers shorter sailings, while the Disney Fantasy offers longer sailings (such as seven nights.)

My personal preference is the Disney Fantasy. I enjoy the longer sailings as you get to know your Crew Members on a more personal level, and you have more time to explore and enjoy everything that is offered on the ship.

Disney Wish

The Disney Wish is not only the newest ship, but also the biggest in the fleet. It holds 5,000 passengers and has 1,254 staterooms, including a 2-story Royal Suite with a Verandah! Plus, the Wish is the first Disney Cruise Line ship not to feature Mickey as Captain. Instead, you are led by Ms. Minnie Mouse! The entire ship is themed to being the “castle on the sea” meaning everything is inspired by the Disney Princesses, specifically to Cinderella. The atrium is called the “Grand Hall” and it features a stunning chandler, complete with little Disney Easter Eggs.

The Disney Wish offers a sail-away party, however, it has a different name and the premise is slightly different than the one on the other ships. The “Set Sail on a Wish” is offered on the first day of each sailing. The Broadway-style stage shows on the Disney Wish are Disney Seas the Adventure starring Minnie and Goofy, The Little Mermaid , which is brand new to the ship, and Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular”  similar to the show on the Dream and the Fantasy.

Arendelle on the Disney Wish. Photo by Danny Shuster

One of the offerings aboard the Disney Wish that is not offered on any other ship is the Kiss Goodnight.  The Disney Wish also has Disney’s first-ever at-sea coaster called the AquaMouse. All three main dining halls on the Wish are different than the other four ships.

On the Wish you will dine at:

  • Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure with Norwegian-inspired dishes.
  • Worlds of Marvel – “Avengers: Quantum Encounter”: A restaurant experience with food inspired by the different locations and organizations of the Marvel universe.
  • 1923: This restaurant has two dining rooms, the Walt Disney Room or the Roy Disney Room, which both feature sketches, props, and other items representing animated Disney films.

In addition to the unique restaurants, the Disney Wish also offers the first-ever “Star Wars”-themed bar. The Disney Wish offers three- and four-night voyages to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

The Disney Wish is perfect for those who are looking for a more upscale theme and a unique experience, as this ship offers a variety of amenities and restaurants that cannot be found on any other ship. Plus, with shorter sailings, this ship is good for those who are looking for a long weekend away or to have a split stay with Walt Disney World.

Disney Treasure

And last, but certainly not least, is the soon-to-be Disney Treasure. Slightly smaller than the Disney Wish, the Disney Treasure holds 4,000 passengers but still has 1,254 staterooms. The theming to the Disney Treasure will give off an ”adventure” vibe, with blue and gold color scheme inspired by Agrabah.

Haunted Mansion Parlor concept art. Photo Courtesy of Disney

The Broadway-style show that is only offered on the Treasure will be a brand-new production called Disney The Tale of Moana. The Treasure will also have the pre-existing Beauty and the Beast and Disney Seas the Adventure show.  The Disney Treasure will also have its own version of the AquaMouse.

The Disney Treasure will have two of the same restaurants as the Wish once it sets sail, but it will have one unique restaurant as well.

  • Plaza de Coco: A Coco-themed  restaurant exclusive to the Treasure and features a Mexican-style menu.
  • Worlds of Marvel: Similar to the restaurant offered on the Wish.
  • 1923: Just like on the Wish, you may dine in either the Walt Disney room or Roy Disney room.

Special to the Treasure, there will be a Jungle Cruise-inspired bar and a Haunted Mansion-inspired bar – which you won’t find on any other ship.

The Treasure will offer 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings.

For those looking for a unique Disney Cruise Line experience and a full-week vacation, the Disney Treasure will be a great cruise ship to choose.

Disney Cruise Line in a Jiffy: What is a Magical Porthole?

Some Disney Cruise Line staterooms include a Magic Porthole. Magic Portholes, variations of which may be called virtual portholes on other cruise lines, are essentially computer screens fashioned to look like a window. On DCL, you can find Magic Portholes on most inside staterooms on the Dream and the Fantasy. Disney’s other ships do not include this feature.

disney cruise ship rooms

Found in inside staterooms, those with no real porthole or window looking to the outside world, the Magic Porthole provides an illusion that you are seeing outside. For some guests, this can help ease a sense of claustrophobia they might otherwise have when staying in an inside cabin. The default view “out” the Magic Porthole is a view from the outside the ship, at approximately the location you would see if your room did have a window. Adding to the magic, periodically you might see that view enhanced by animation, such as a Disney character waving to you. Some guests are so enamored of the Magic Porthole animations that they prefer inside staterooms to larger cabins with actual portholes. (Click photos to enlarge.)

disney cruise ship rooms

Don’t worry if Magic Portholes aren’t your thing. You can turn it off at any time to darken the room or just to have a break from the view.

Disney Wonder: A Complete Guide to What’s On Board

by Morgan Flaherty | Jan 23, 2024 | Cruise Itineraries , Disney Cruise Line , Disney Wonder

Discover the staterooms, dining options, entertainment, and more that await cruisegoers sailing on the Disney Wonder.

Planning to set sail on a cruise aboard the Disney Wonder? The second Disney Cruise Line ship first set sail in 1999, a sister ship to the original Disney Magic . On board, you’ll find stunning entertainment, fun characters, and fantastic dining to enjoy. We’re taking you through a full guide of everything you’ll find on the Disney Magic!

About the Disney Wonder

  • Entertainment

DLR Magazine Annual Digital Subscription

Wdw magazine annual digital subscription, wdw magazine monthly digital subscription.

The Disney Wonder had its first sailing in 1999, making it the second ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The Wonder is a sister ship to the original Disney Magic, with a similar layout and design.

The ship had its maiden voyage on August 15, 1999, originally sailing three- and four-night cruises to the Bahamas. Within the past decade, the itineraries for the Wodner have changed. Now, the ship sails on various itineraries with stops in Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and more. In fall 2023, the ship made history by beginning a new itinerary in Australia, sailing out of Sydney with stops in Auckland, Brisbane, and Melbourne. The ship eventually made its way back to Hawaii, with plans to return to Vancouver in 2024.

Onboard the ship you’ll find Broadway-style shows such as Frozen, The Golden Mickeys , and Disney Dreams , with restaurants inspired by The Little Mermaid , and The Princess and the Frog . In total, there are 11 decks to explore on the Disney Wonder, and we’re sharing a bit more of what you can find below!

Where Does the Disney Wonder Sail?

For 2024 and 2025 sailings, the Disney Wonder departs from ports in New Zealand and Australia, as well as San Diego, California, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Vancouver, Canada. The ship will offer cruises through Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Australia, and the Pacific Coast to enjoy, anywhere from two to fifteen nights.

Staterooms on the Disney Wonder

In total, there are 875 staterooms on the Disney Wonder, about two-thirds of what you’ll find on the newest ship, the Disney Wish. When it comes to choosing accommodations, you can choose from Concierge, which is the largest accommodation with a private verandah. Or, you can choose a non-concierge room with a private verandah, the second largest room available. There are also Oceanview rooms offering a porthole or two, as well as Inside Staterooms with no view outside.

Inside Staterooms

On the Disney Magic, you’ll have one inside stateroom option: a Standard Inside Stateroom . There is no exterior or ocean view to be found in these rooms, but they do sleep up to four adults in total. Your two options are:

  • Deluxe Inside Stateroom
  • Standard Inside Stateroom

The Deluxe Inside Stateroom has more square footage than the Standard Inside Stateroom , with 214 sq. ft. versus 184 sq. ft. Both types of rooms can sleep up to three or four, with a queen bed, single sleeper sofa, and upper berth pull-down bed available. The Deluxe Inside Stateroom also comes with a “split bath,” meaning there’s one bathroom with a vanity, sink, shower, and tub, then a half bathroom with a vanity, sink, and toilet. By comparison, the Standard Inside Stateroom offers one full bathroom with a vanity, sink, shower and tub.

Oceanview Staterooms

The Oceanview Staterooms offer a few of the sea from your room through one or two portholes. While these won’t have a deck for you to go outside, you will be able to enjoy some stunning views from a generously sized window overlooking the ocean. There’s just one option for this type of room:

  • Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom

The Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms come with either one large porthole window or two smaller porthole windows. Each room sleeps up to three or four, with a queen bed, single sleeper sofa, and upper berth pull-down bed available.

Verandah Staterooms

If you want to spend some time gazing at the beautiful ocean views, you’ll want to consider a room with a private verandah . There are two choices on board the Disney Magic:

  • Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
  • Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

The Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah  has a queen bed, a single sleeper sofa, and an upper berth pull-down bed, meaning it sleeps three or four people. For a larger group, you’ll want the Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah , which sleeps up to five with a queen bed, single sleeper sofa, wall pull-down bed, and upper berth pull-down bed. Both options come with their own private verandah.

Being a Princess is Exhausting – Mermaid Solid Color Tote

Being a princess is exhausting – mermaid watercolor tote, dlr castle by sunset art quality poster with hanger, issue 95 – once upon a time, concierge staterooms.

The Concierge rooms are the Disney Magic’s most luxurious accommodations. T here are four  types of concierge staterooms :

  • Concierge Royal Suite with Verandah
  • Concierge 2-Bedroom Suite with Verandah
  • Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Verandah
  • Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom

The Concierge Royal Suites have art deco décor, with two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a verandah, a living room, a dining salon, and more. They can sleep up to seven, making this ideal for larger families or groups. The 1-Bedroom Suite has a separate bedroom, 1.5 bathrooms, a verandah, a living room, and a wet bar, and can sleep up to five. The 2-Bedroom Suite has two separate bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a verandah, a living room, and can sleep up to seven. Finally, the Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom sleeps up to five and also comes with a private verandah.

Dining on the Disney Wonder

Just like all of Disney Cruise Line’s ships, the Disney Wonder comes with a variety of different dining options. Whether you are looking for a full meal, a character dining experience, or just a quick bite to eat, you’ll find it on board the ship.

Like all other Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Wonder offers rotational dining for dinners. This style of dining allows you to try each of the main restaurants onboard during your sailing, though you can choose to skip a night or two of rotational dining and secure a reservation at a different restaurant not included with your sailing instead (at an additional cost). Additionally, you can choose to order room service. Here’s a look at all of the dinner options on the Disney Wonder :

  • Tiana’s Place
  • Animator’s Palate
  • Palo Steakhouse (reservations required)
  • Royal Court Tea (reservations required)

Aside from rotational dining, you’ll also find casual dining onboard that does not require a reservation:
