Local stories, traditional Dalmatian food and authentic Dalmatian spirit
Join us on our guided food, history, and culture tour in the 1700 years old Diocletian Palace in Split, Croatia. Enjoy local stories while strolling through almost 2 millennia-old streets of the Roman palace and tasting some of the best this Mediterranean pearl has to offer.
We’ll start with a famous Pazar (Greenmarket) where you will taste some local ‘’arancini’’, almonds in sugar to sweeten your morning. After it, with a glass of local wine, we will have some tasty Soparnik, a unique dish protected by the UNESCO world heritage organization. While we stroll down the streets of the ancient city, we will enjoy some traditionally made prosciutto and then continue to the chocolate shop that even has a Guinness record for the largest chocolate bar in the world. Sweet for sweet, up to the oldest bakery to try the famous rafiol cake.
Whenever you are in Split, you shouldn’t miss the Fish market of Split called Peškarija. It is the second oldest in Europe, with original benches more than 120 yrs old. There we will teach you how to eat salted anchovies, something that is traditional marenda – Dalmatian brunch.
And there it is – a food tour like it should be – tasty, yummy, and full of flavors. The unique gourmet adventure, where you will learn about local lifestyle, and Mediterranean cuisine, and taste traditional Dalmatian food.
This unique Split History and Gastro tour will make your stay in Split just perfect.

Join me on this delicious Split food tour to not only taste the history but the food and lifestyle of people in Dalmatia! We explore the Diocletian’s Palace with all its major highlights- the Substructures, the emperor’s mausoleum and Jupiter’s temple. As we stroll further along, we will make stops at these places: Chocolate boutique , Pastry shop “Bobis” , Green Market and finally a café where we can enjoy a drink.
Hire Jelena Vrancic to show you around
There’s a reason I’m listing this #1. She’s everything a tour guide should be. And you need someone to explain the complexity and history of Diocletian’s Palace. And if you are spending a few nights and love good food, spending time with a local that will direct you to all the cool places is one of the best investments you’ll make.
Barry, New York City tour guide
Elite tour guide
Thoroughly enjoyable and deeply informative walking and foodie tours of Split and Trogir – including Jelena’s secret route onto the walls of the Diocletian Palace for a very privilege cityscape view – supplemented by more Pre-tour advice, and a far higher level of responsiveness, than anybody else I’ve come across in Croatia.

Informative and tasty tour of Split
My husband and I had the pleasure of spending some time in Split during our vacation in October. The day started out with a steady and hard rain but Jelena was undaunted, we switched some things around and made the best of it. By the middle of the day the sun was out and we had spent some quality time with the sights, history and food stuffs of Croatia. We ended the day at the Mestrovic gallery having been exposed to an amazing artist, overlooking a gorgeous view. It was the best of a tour guide experience, learning about a country through its food and culture with an accomplished and flexible guide.
