Fantastic Journey (Arcade)

Fantastic Journey is the original arcade version of Gokujou Parodius ("Fantastic Parodius"). It was later ported to many other platforms in Japan, such as the Super Famicom and PSP. The arcade version, plus its PlayStation and Sega Saturn ports, were only localized in Europe.

Unused Music

There are two unused music tracks, both of which also have duplicate copies used as placeholders. They are "Je Te Veux" and "Habanera" from Carmen , and were possibly intended to be stage and boss themes, respectively.

Regional Differences

Title screen, miscellaneous.

  • The localized English version altered some of the in-game sprites. Notably, the Megaphone weapon's nonsensical Japanese text was replaced with some equally nonsensical but different English text. Sadly, this means you don't get to kill enemies with "A²+B²=C²" in the European release.
  • The ending quotes (which vary for each character) are still in Japanese, but they added an overlay on the bottom of the screen with English text, which is the same for all endings.
  • Additionally, in the European Sega Saturn and PlayStation versions, the Eagle enemy was slightly recolored.
