These airports are in close proximity to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, offering ease and convenience for cruise passengers.

Which Airport Do You Cruise Out of New York?

Manhattan Cruise Terminal, located in New York City, is a popular departure point for cruise vacations. When planning your trip, it’s essential to know which airport to choose for your arrival. The three closest airports to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal are John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), La Guardia Airport (LGA), and Newark Liberty International Airport (ERW).

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is situated in Queens, approximately 15 miles from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. It’s one of the busiest airports in the United States and offers a wide range of international and domestic flights. Travelers arriving at JFK can easily reach the cruise terminal by various transportation options, including taxis, private shuttle services, or using public transportation such as the AirTrain and subway.

La Guardia Airport (LGA) is another convenient option for those cruising from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. Situated in Queens, LGA is the closest airport to Manhattan, with a distance of around 10 miles. This airport mainly serves domestic flights and is well-connected to the city through taxis, private transfers, and public transportation.

Newark Liberty International Airport (ERW), located in Newark, New Jersey, is also a viable choice for cruisers. Although it’s slightly farther from Manhattan, with a distance of approximately 16 miles, it offers a wide range of international and domestic flights. Travelers can easily reach the Manhattan Cruise Terminal from Newark Airport using taxis, private transfers, or public transportation options such as AirTrain and subway.

All three airports provide numerous transportation options to and from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free journey. It’s advisable to plan your travel in advance and consider factors such as flight schedules, proximity to your accommodation, and personal preferences when choosing the airport for your cruise departure. Regardless of the airport you choose, you can rest assured that reliable transportation options are readily available to help you reach your cruise ship in a timely manner.

If you’re flying into JFK or LGA, you’ve the option of using a taxi, ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft, or a shared shuttle service to get to the cruise terminal. These options provide convenience and door-to-door service, but they can be more expensive, especially during peak travel times.

Alternatively, you can take public transportation from JFK or LGA to the cruise terminal. JFK has an AirTrain service that connects to the New York City subway system, which you can take to reach the cruise terminal. LGA has a bus service that connects to the subway as well. Public transportation is a more cost-effective option, but it may require some walking and navigating through the city.

However, given the distance between EWR and Manhattan, these options can be more expensive. Which Cruise Port Does Carnival Use in New York?

By Alice Nichols

If you’re planning a cruise with Carnival departing from New York, you might be wondering which port the line uses. Well, the answer is simple: Carnival Cruise Line departs from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, also known as Pier 88 or 90.

Manhattan Cruise Terminal

The Manhattan Cruise Terminal is located on the west side of midtown Manhattan. This terminal is conveniently located near many of New York City’s top attractions, including Times Square and Central Park. It’s also only a short distance from popular neighborhoods like Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen.

Getting to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal

One of the great things about departing from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal is that it’s easily accessible by public transportation. The terminal is located near several Subway lines, including the A, C, E, N, Q, R, and 1 trains. Additionally, several bus routes stop at or near the terminal.

If you’re driving to the terminal, there are several parking garages nearby where you can park your car during your cruise.

Cruise Lines That Depart from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal

While Carnival uses this terminal for many of its cruises departing from New York, it’s not the only cruise line that docks here. Other popular cruise lines that depart from this terminal include:

  • Norwegian Cruise Line
  • Royal Caribbean International
  • Princess Cruises
  • Holland America Line

The Embarkation Process at Manhattan Cruise Terminal

When checking in for your Carnival cruise at this port, expect a fairly streamlined process. After dropping off your luggage with a porter outside of the terminal entrance (remember to tip!), you’ll head inside to check-in for your cruise.

Once checked in and through security, you’ll wait in a comfortable lounge area until it’s time to board the ship. When your group is called, you’ll head to the gangway and board your Carnival cruise ship!

One killed, 10 injured when shuttle bus driver mistakes gas for brake at Hawaii cruise terminal

O ne person was killed and multiple others injured Friday when a shuttle bus driver in Hawaii mistook the gas pedal for the brake — plowing into nearly a dozen people waiting at a cruise terminal.

The 57-year-old driver had just dropped off a group of passengers at Honolulu’s Pier 2 terminal around 10:30 a.m. and had exited the bus when a bystander warned him that the car was rolling forward, the city’s police said.

The driver jumped back in the shuttle, but in the frenzy “pressed the gas pedal instead of the brakes and collided with two concrete barriers and eleven pedestrians.”

A 68-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries.

Four others — in their 50s and 60s — were hospitalized in serious condition, while a man in his 70s was listed as stable.

The remaining pedestrians were bandaged at the scene.

The youngest victim is in their 40s, EMS said.

Police said speed does not appear to be a contributing factor to the crash, and are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

Honolulu police could not immediately confirm whether the victims were tourists, telling The Post that the pier is located in a popular commercial area.

The investigation is ongoing.

Cruise passenger dies after shuttle bus crash

ABCNews logo

One woman has died and 10 others were injured after a shuttle bus crashed into the transportation area outside a Honolulu cruise terminal Friday, according to police.

The ship, Carnival Miracle, was on a 15-day journey, departing Long Beach, California, on April 6, according to Carnival Cruise Line. Nine of the people hit by the vehicle were cruise ship passengers.

"Sadly, one guest has died from her injuries. She was traveling with her husband, who was also injured and is expected to recover. Members of the Carnival Care Team are assisting the guests. Our thoughts are with the guests affected and their loved ones," Carnival Cruise Line said in a statement to ABC News.

A 57-year-old man was dropping off customers at pier 2 when a bystander told him that his vehicle was moving forward. He then jumped into the drivers seat, trying to stop the vehicle, but he accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brakes, colliding with two concrete barriers and eleven pedestrians, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Five pedestrians were transported to the hospital -- one of whom was later pronounced dead and four others are in good condition. Six other pedestrians refused treatment on the scene, police said.

According to police, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor in the collision and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.

The investigation is ongoing.
