The BP MotorClub and its super cheap joining offer makes it a decent roadside emergency option if you want amazingly affordable cover for a short period. The two plan options offer a good balance between roadside services, legal and travel benefits, and even include buying advice when searching for a new car.

The BP MotorClub covers drivers of standard cars, SUVs, motorcycles, light trucks, pick-ups, and Recreational Vehicles for the most common roadside emergencies, such as flat tires, running out of fuel, and towing. The service is available in most of the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. It provides some of the best roadside assistance services in 2021, and has a remarkably good sign-up offer right now.

Let's address the elephant in the room, right up top... yes, that is the BP MotorClub website. No, it isn't a well designed site, and it really doesn't inspire confidence in the service. The site for BRS , for instance, is light years' ahead, but look beyond the rough veneer, and BP's service is actually very good.

BP MotorClub review: What's covered?

Two plans are available - Silver and Premier Plus - and both offer lockout and winching services as standard. The differences come with the mileage and dollar values that are available, so the Silver plan offers up just 5 miles of road and towing service and an attached reimbursement of $60 , while Premier Plus ups these to 100 miles and $120 respectively. Premier Plus has a $240 dispatch guarantee as well, in case BP can't find help for you, and $500 trip interruption benefit, neither of which are available with the Silver plan. 

In addition to roadside support, all plans include a variety of additional vehicle- and travel-related services that can help save money, time, and frustration when handling other travel-related issues. Drivers can get reduced rates when renting vehicles and staying at hotels/motels, travel tools that help when planning trips, and even legal assistance like a guaranteed arrest bond should they get in trouble with the law for a motoring offence. They even offer a post-repair warranty, something not typically found elsewhere.

All of this helps make BP MotorClub not just a great choice for drivers on a budget, but also for those who are interested in more than just roadside assistance, and don’t necessarily want to use an app to get service.

BP MotorClub review: The fine print

If you live in California, sadly you are out of luck: BP MotorClub membership is available in all US states except for the Golden State. 

If you can and do join BP, coverage kicks in immediately upon signing up for membership; however, until you actually receive your membership card, you'll need to pay for any services used up front and will be reimbursed at a later stage. The RVs covered by The BP MotorClub are only those up to 2,000 pounds; the only service the BP MotorClub offers to RVs heavier than 2,000 pounds are jump starts and fuel deliveries. No boats or trailers are covered either, with Good Sam Roadside Assistance a decent alternative if you need protection for these. 

BP MotorClub review: Costs and ease of use

So you've been able to find the $1 required for the first month of membership, but what's next? Well, the Silver plan will set you back $7.60 per month, and the Premium Plus is $10.81 monthly, which means cheaper options are available through National General , for example. However, towing mileage and reimbursement aside, the differences between the two BP plans isn't that wide, and with both fairly comprehensive in what they cover, the Silver option offers a great deal of value if you're on a budget. 

BP MotorClub: Customer reviews and accessibility

The official BP MotorClub website design aesthetic is outdated, and it’s quite embarrassing for such a large company. But while the website is rudimentary to say the least, it's fair to say that the contact information you require is easy to find, and there's a teletype service for those who are hearing-impaired. However, the absence of an app, and the sheer datedness of the site, will undoubtedly see some potential customers turn their attention elsewhere straight away.

User reviews of BP Motor Club are extremely hard to find, so you'll need to make use of the sign up offer and judge for yourself whether you're willing to give the service a proper go. 

Should you choose BP MotorClub?

BP MotorClub offers a decent rescue service for motorists and some additional benefits that you won't usually find elsewhere. Admittedly, the outdated website will turn some people off in an instant, but if you're willing to give BP a chance - and with the first month of cover available for only a buck, it should be affordable - you might just find a service that is capable of meeting your needs.

HOUSTON – BP Products North America Inc., a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of BP p.l.c. (NYSE: bp) has reached an agreement to purchase TravelCenters of America (Nasdaq: TA), one of the country’s leading full-service travel center operators. The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory and TravelCenters of America shareholder approval, will be for $1.3 billion in cash.

TA’s strategically-located network of highway sites complements bp’s existing predominantly off-highway convenience and mobility business, enabling TA and bp to offer fleets a seamless nationwide service. In addition, bp’s global scale and reach will, over time, bring advantages in fuel and biofuel supply as well as convenience offers for consumers. It will provide options to expand and develop new mobility offers including electric vehicle (EV) charging, biofuels, renewable natural gas (RNG) and later hydrogen, both for passenger vehicles and fleets. 

Convenience is one of bp’s five strategic transition growth engines in which it aims to significantly grow investment through this decade. By 2030, bp aims for around half its annual investment to go into these transition growth engines. Over 2023-2030 it aims that around half of its cumulative $55-65 billion transition growth engine investment will go into convenience, bioenergy and EV charging.

The acquisition is expected to bring around 280 TravelCenters of America sites, spanning 44 US states nationwide, into the bp portfolio. These travel centers, which average around 25 acres, offer a full range of facilities for vehicles and fleet trucks, including more than 600 full-service and quick service restaurants, as well as truck maintenance and repair services. Around 70% of TA’s total gross margin is generated by its convenience services business, almost double bp’s global convenience gross margin.

bp yesterday announced plans to invest $1bn in EV charging across the US by 2030. 

As part of the transaction, TA will enter into amended lease agreements with Service Properties Trust (NASDAQ: SVC), establishing long-term real estate access. bp looks forward to continuing TA’s existing strong relationship with SVC. 

The acquisition price of $1.3 billion, or $86 per share, represents a multiple of around 6 times based on last twelve months’ TA EBITDA (4Q21 to 3Q22) i .  It is expected to add EBITDA for bp immediately, growing to around $800 million in 2025. 

It supports delivery of bp’s convenience and EV charging growth engine target of more than $1.5bn EBITDA in 2025 and aim for more than $4bn in 2030. bp expects the acquisition to be accretive to free cash flow per share from 2024 and to deliver a return of over 15%. 

Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC is acting as lead financial adviser to bp, Robey Warshaw LLP is acting as financial adviser to bp, and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP is acting as lead legal adviser to bp.

Ramenskoye Airport, also known as Ramenskoye Airfield or Zhukovsky Airfield, is an airport in Moscow Oblast, Russia located 40 km southeast of Moscow and near the town of Ramenskoye. It serves as a major aircraft testing facility since the Cold War years with the majority of the major Russian OKBs having facilities on the airfield. It is also now used by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and cargo transportation. This airfield was also used as a test site for the Soviet Buran Spacecraft.

Gromov Flight Research Institute

M.  M.  Gromov Flight Research Institute or LII for short is an important Russian aircraft test base, scientific research center located in Zhukovsky, 40 km south-east of Moscow. It has one of the longest runways in Europe at 5,403 m. LII's concrete surfacing covers the area of 2.5 million square meters. LII was used as the backup landing site for the Shuttle Buran test program and also as a test base for a Buran's aerodynamic prototypes.
