Correct oil quantity for 3.6l

Hi have a 11 DJ RT 3.6l - changing my own oil/filter and trying determine how much new oil to add, my manual states 6qt or 5.2ltres, But I added amount of  5.5 litres and that gets me just to lower hashmarks on dipstick, I read eslewhere that engine takes 5.6litres?  where am to fill oil to,  top of hashmarks which would require additional 1ltre then  it would be over a total of 6.5litres - well above service manual quantity. (After changing I did run engine for 5 minutes before checking oil level)

Update: after car sat for 20 minutes I recheck the oil level and it was at the mid point of hashmarks, so I added a bit more to get to the 5.6ltr amount, which should put level at about 3/4 in safe zone, it appears my manual is wrong at 5.2ltre quantity

Hi, I've got the 2011 with the 3.6 v6 also.

I've noticed the same issue you've mentioned, and never really think about it much after closing the hood. When I use 6qts, It sometimes feels a bit low on the dip-stick.

I've got tired of buying extra quarts of oil only to use it half way, so ultimately my band-aid solution was:

Leave a tiny bit more residual oil in the pan when I close.  

By changing the oil it faster, and closing the drain plug  with a marginal amount of residual oil in the engine keeps the oil level in the 50% acceptable range when refilling with only 6qts. (5.6L)

i am going with the 5.6litre fill which puts the oil in the middle of the safe zone on dipstick 

But in reality if a person was to go by the manual, the engine would be under filled and possibly resulting in damage?

It takes 6 US quarts...works perfect

Thanks conversion of 6us quarts = 5.7litres , so that’s what I going with, just odd that the manual is wrong, maybe it was corrected in the new versions

How to correctly measure oil level ? Engine cold or hot ? Have to wait a few minutes ? On mine it barely reaches 1/4 of the safe zone on dipstick  after adding 6qt, engine hot.

I check with   engine  hot, sitting for 10 minutes and turned off, I just checked level and it was at the 3/4 level in the hashmarks , I had used 5.6 litres of oil  at change

I’ve noticed fill amount also seems a little low after oil change on my 3.6 as well.  Haven’t  put a level on my  engine compartment or waited over night for drainage, which in winter might help. I’m using the 5w20 factory spec oil .

i wonder if the filter gets saturated and holds absorbed oil   which throws the fill amount off.  

Containers also hold a bit of residual oil  , especially if using multiple quart containers in winter. Try propping up empty containers for 10 mins each and see how much oil seeps out, its surprising.

Try 6 ltrs you wont be disappointed

Atrium is a well and frequently used element in modern multifunctional buildings. A retrospective on atrium design and construction in the world will be given to illustrate how it changed and developed through the course of human history. Based on scientific papers, local and international standards a consolidated definition of the term is given. However, in modern days the term “atrium” has different definitions depending on a country and engineering discipline. For calculation and modeling analysis to find an optimal height of atrium roofing structure a hotel building design with four-sided atrium is taken with location at Dubna, Moscow Oblast. The roof of this atrium has partially glazed translucent cover. Five roofing shapes are taken for comparison: flat, single-pitch, double-pitch, butterfly, trapezoid. List of criteria is chosen for analysis with focus on thermal performance of the atrium cover and insolation & daylight factor for internal spaces of the atrium. Thermal performance calculations are made according to Russian standards & design requirements and using for a reference a skylights manufacturer open-source thermal performance data for a skylight window system. Insolation and Daylight factor are calculated for the abovementioned roofing shapes using computer-aided modelling software (DIALux). Based on the calculations and computer-aided modelling a set of data is obtained, after that it is processed and analyzed to define an optimal solution for atrium roofing based on given criteria.
