Natalia Lafourcade (born February 26, 1984) is a Mexican pop-rock singer-songwriter and musician best known for her hit single “En El 2000”, hailing from Coatepec, Mexico.

Born the daughter of French-Chilean singer and musician Gastón Lafourcade, Natalia grew up singing, acting and playing a number of instruments during her time in school. At the age of 10 Lafourcade sung in a Mariachi group before joining a girl trio group named Twist in 1998. Three years later the singer was offered a spot in a new pop/rock group by Italian producer Loris Ceroni, however after appearing reluctant, Ceroni encouraged Lafourcade to go solo.

The musician and producer Ceroni subsequently produced the majority of Lafourcade’s debut, self-titled full-length released in 2003. Issued by Sony Norte, “Natalia Lafourcade”, is a genre-defying record that showcases the singer’s wide spectrum of influences, distinctive vocals and apt songwriting. The album has since been certified three times platinum, aided by the singles “En El 2000”, “Busca un Problema”, “Elefantes”, and “Te Quiero Dar”, and secured four Latin Grammy Award nominations.

Following the release, Lafourcade surrounded herself with drummer Alonso, guitarist Chanona, and accordion and keyboard player Yuno, who collectively became known as Natalia y la Forquentina. The band’s debut arrived in 2004 after being invited to compose a song for the film “Temporado de Patos”, for which Natalia y la Forquentina produced crafted “Un Pato”. Working with producer Emmanuel del Real, the group’s debut album “Casa” was released in 2005 marked by driving guitars and heavy drums. Despite not fairing as well as her solo debut, the record topped the Mexican Albums Chart, earned platinum certification and the Latin Grammy for Best Rock Album. The group supported the release by a year-long series of shows around Mexico, after which in 2006 Natalia y la Forquentina parted ways.

After moving to Canada for nine months Lafourcade recorded and released the EP “Las 4 Estaciones del Amor” in January 2009. Noted for its instrumental nature, the four-track record is themed around the earth’s seasons and raised the anticipation for the singer’s solo sophomore release. In May 2009 Lafourcade issued her second full-length album “Hu Hu Hu”, led by the single “Axul”. The record rose to No. 9 on the Mexican Album Chart and subsequently spawned the singles “Ella es Bonita”, “Cursus Melodias”, and “No Viniste”. The full-length “Majer Divina” arrived in September 2012 winning a pair of Latin Grammy Awards, followed by “Hasta La Ruiz” in March 2015.

Live reviews

If I'm honest, I almost didn't go to this show. I'm not Latino, I don't speak Spanish, and my date couldn't make it. But I'm a fan, so I went alone. The venue was an 800 seat synagogue, which is not where you might expect one of the biggest pop acts in Mexico to perform, but it's intimate and amazing. In a theater full of people that obviously were fans and knew her music, I somehow ended up seated between an older gentleman and another gentleman with his daughter that knew the venue, but not the artist. They came based on the venue and a blurb of her on the website. They were all very cool.

I was glad there was no opening act, because I just wanted to see Natalia. She is easily my favorite artist today, and one of my favorite of all time.

When she came on stage, the crowd erupted. I'm sure many had purchased tickets to her Lincoln theater show that was cancelled last year. (I'd purchased the VIP package for that show, so I was doubly heartbroken; but I understood Houston to Dallas to LA made more sense than Houston to DC to LA).

Natalia sang flawlessly. She did that little dance she does with her shoulders too. At times one could be forgiven for feeling she was singing directly to you, as I did several times. The music felt very liberating and personal. The set was light on her early work, which made sense because a lot of people here came to know her through her Grammy winning Hasta La Raiz. I purchased three or four of her cds since discovering her music on the 2015 Latin Grammys (and a good friend from Durango, Mexico also suggested her to me). I recognized all but three songs.

She started with a showcase of slow to mid-tempo songs, but as she picked up the pace, people stood up, waved a huge Mexican flag and moved to the area between the seats and the stage and started dancing. They were ready to party and she did not disappoint. I felt the room's connection to Mexico as Natalia served as the ultimate conduit. She spoke several times between songs, which added a more intimate feel to the show. Since I don't understand Spanish fluently, I can only imagine that she something about missing home and the delicious food, and perhaps some of the inspiration for her songs.

Tu Si Sabes Quereme has been my jam since late spring and apparently I'm not alone. Her performances of this song were sensual and playful and had everyone on their feet singing along. I'm sure Despicito, or whatever, has many managers telling their clients it's time to crossover to the American market (I'm going to the upcoming Bomba Estereo and Vanessa De Mata concerts too), but Natalia's a once-in-a-generation artist; right up there with Aretha, Adele, and Brasil's Regina Elis. She proves it with each new cd. For my money, Tu Si Sabes Quereme is the song of the year and I hope it receives proper recognition from the academy.

She also sang Nunca Es Suficiente and Para Que Sufrir, which are now classics. And everything on Musas transports you "to a time in Mexico." Sometimes she joined the band and played guitar and the sitar/ukulele. Oh, I almost forgot to mention her band is tight, but standup bass player is ridiculous! He reminds me of Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, he's clearly a dude that likes the funk.

The only thing that could have possibly made the experience better would have been a meet and greet afterwards. I know that's a lot to ask, even for a small sold-out venue, but considering we don't get to see you often and your next visit here is destined to be at a much larger venue, it may have been a nice opportunity. Until then, I will enjoy my coffee mug and Musas t-shirt. Thank you for a wonderful time and best in life!

Natalia had her Houston concert at Scout Bar, which is in Webster, TX. Doors opened at 7pm, meet and greet was supposed to take place at 8pm but it took almost an hour to happen. Because of that delay, the concert begun around 10:21pm. Regardless of how long it took, the concert was pretty awesome. She is very talented and also the musicians that work with her. Everyone was filled with energy while her fans were enjoying, singing to her songs. I will definitely come back if she happens to tour in the US again (I kind of doubt that will happen soon) but I will be more than glad if she happens to show again in Houston. More than likely, if I happen to be in Mexico, I'll go and see her as she holds concerts in Mexico pretty often.

TALENTED. If you need to know anything about Natalia LaFourcade it is that she is absolutely and totally talented. She first appears on stage with just an acoustic guitar and her voice. Her beautiful, non-auto tune, not screaming at me, but signing like a bird- beautiful voice. Stunning performance.

Eventually her band joins her and they continually play their songs, jam style. Natalia and her band all seemed delighted to play. True musicians no side acts, dancers, or intermissions.

Loved all the songs, she closed the show with Ella es Bonita, than for an encore she sang Currucucu Paloma. Just phenomenal show. Absolutely blown away by the musicianship and the power of her beautiful voice.

I am heartbroken that the concert for November 11 of this year 2019 at Berkeley California was cancelled .. it was my 49 birthday and I bought VIP table 4 to take my 8 year old daughter and my aunt and uncle . Natalia's music is very special for me and has become very significant for my daughter Maddy who was upset but I made a promise to her to get tickets as good or better for when she can please come back to the San Francisco area . I hope i get lucky and I can take my daughter who speaks no Spanish but sings her songs .. this was going to be our first concert together ... we have had a rough year my little ones and I and I hope she makes up for the cancelled date :))

Brenda and I heard her music for the first time during Dia de los Muertos in Oaxaca City 2017, we were instant fans and adopted Tú Sí Sabes Quererme as "our song." It's been three weeks and we have not stopped listening to her songs, she is amazing. No Vivo por Vivi with Juan Gabriel is so enchanting in great part due to Natalia's serene vocals. We caught her show last week in Anaheim at the House of Blues and are catching her shows in Paris and Barcelona in February 2018. The show at the House of Blues was more like a cocktail party than a concert and we can't wait to experience that feeling again. If you have the chance, go to see her live, it's worth it!

I enjoyed the show. She was amazing. Great voice and music style. I did not like the Social Hall venue at all!!! First I did not get to meet her even though I paid for it. Somehow the meet and greet was at 7 pm and nowhere in my ticket did I see meet and greet 7pm, only doors open at 8 pm!! I did email and called Social Hall but never got a hold of anyone or response. And when I got there a little bit after 8 they did not try to accommodate at all they said we will call you. Seriously the list of meet and greet was less than 10 people and two of them were my boyfriend and I. I am truly disappointed with Social Hall venue.

The night was just amazing. Las Cafeteras which opened for Natalia were just awesome. They got the crowd all pumped up. I don't know much about them but I was extremely happy with their performance. I hope to see them again,Natalia choose well. As for Natalia Lafourcade she was beyond breathtaking. She is a wonderful, talented young lady. It was my first time seeing her live but I'm sure it won't be my last. I had a great time and wonderful experience last night. Can't wait to see her again. Her rendition of the old songs was beautiful. I loved everything about last night. Till the next time...

EPIC! That's how I can describe the Natalia Lafourcade show in LA last night. With an absolutely stunning backdrop of skyscrapers in the evening lights, Natalia and her band, quite simply, killed it. The musicianship was flawless. Every song was performed with sincerity, a passion I've not seen in years of catching many a concert. Her voice was commanding, yet she could have been singing directly to you. Love how she mixed in some old favs into the whole Musas concept. Can't recommend her show enough. Viva México, Viva Veracruz, and Viva Natalia!

Natalia is an amazing artist, her smile, her music, her sweet voice and her energy on stage make her a truly special performer that is improving with age. He radiates on stage and she connects with her fans Spanish or English speaking alike. Personally I believe she will eventually become a legend in her craft and especially in Mexico.

Pier 17 as a venue is not organized it took 45 minutes to go in and the sound at times left a lot to be desired.

Natalia Lafourcade, Mexican singer: ‘Reggaeton must have something that I just don’t understand’

One of the most fascinating and successful latin american folk performers, lafourcade reached a point in her career where she needed to stop and take a breather. to find herself, she returned to the garden of her childhood home in veracruz, along the gulf of mexico.

Natalia Lafourcade

That guava tree in their garden wasn’t just an ordinary tree. Natalia Lafourcade’s parents had just split up and her mother needed money urgently. Then, that tropical tree — with its simple, oval leaves — began to bear unusual fruits. “We had little money and the tree kept us going. Every summer, there were enormous quantities of guavas growing… We had to lay out a net to catch them all. Then, my mom made jam, cakes and sweets out of the fruit. And we sold them,” recalls Lafourcade, 39.

Back then, the now-famous singer — who was born in Mexico City — was a two-year-old girl who felt a magical connection with that tree. “It taught me a life lesson: we need to pay respect to the land.” The guava tree was in the garden that belonged to her mother, Carmen, who inherited the family home in Veracruz, along the Gulf of Mexico. Lafourcade spent her childhood there, surrounded by flowers. Today, three decades later, she has returned to live in this property, where nature showed her all its love and gave her family a second chance. Hence the title of his latest album: De todas las flores [Of all the flowers].

“When I decided to record it, I felt that it was time to return to this inner garden, to my musical world. I wanted to recover my own language,” the Mexican composer explains. She is one of the most successful Latin American folk singers of this century, having won three Grammys and 15 Latin Grammys. With a career that has only lasted a little over a decade, Lafourcade set an international standard, admired by musicians from all walks of life.

Natalia Lafourcade

In the house in Veracruz — which stirs so many feelings for her — Lafourcade composed many of her latest songs. “As soon as dawn breaks, I’m already surrounded by trees and birds. At all times, nature is giving me a concert. The rain is wonderful. The air smells clean. You feel like going for long walks and taking bike rides,” she says with a sigh. Lafourcade listened to this natural concert more carefully than ever during the pandemic, when she was confined to the land of her childhood. She has now decided to return to her roots.

“There was a stage in my career during which I knew that I had to start my engines, not stop them. I had to push to get things. But that fast pace became too much for me. I started to feel like I was on automatic pilot,” she recalls. “In the middle of all that, I was separated from my partner for a while. There was a lot of sadness… I had to let myself hit bottom,” she says, gesturing with her hands to show herself sinking into an imaginary hole.

“I had spent my whole life without any alone time. The pandemic [made me stop]... It gave me time. At first, I didn’t know how to relate to [such a different] lifestyle. I had to explore and find that part of me. When you hit rock bottom, you start building the process of going back up again.”

She remembers the moment in which she began to overcome this existential crisis, after getting back together with her partner and travelling to Veracruz. “Spring had arrived.”

Lafourcade’s spring is reflected in her new musical work. She talks about the album as if it’s a journey. “It makes the listener emerge feeling different,” she explains. It has influences from cumbia, bossa nova, folklore, Mexican ranchera, popular Peruvian songs… “There are no direct references, but a Simón Díaz, a Violeta Parra, a Roberto Cantoral, an Elis Regina can pass through there,” she laughs. And there’s something more local, from the land to which she has returned, the land that saw her grow up. “The air of Veracruz. This air, to me, is like the freedom and spiritual madness of a record like John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme . I wanted to transfer that trance into my album.”

The composer is deeply interested in Mexican sounds , but also appreciates tunes that are from farther away. “There’s a lot to study and explore. You just have to look at Spain, with its flamenco and folklore. There is so much! [Spanish music] has a peasant influence. When I hear it, it makes me want to learn more. And when you study music, you feel that your personal world is getting richer,” she says. And adds: “The song tells you where to go. The song dictates the way.”

Her path has a direct connection to her childhood — to that remote time of contemplation of nature. Her songs see her revise Mexican folklore in a contemporary style, in albums such as Mujer divina [Divine Woman] (2012), Hasta la raíz [To the Root] (2015), Musas [Muses] (2015) or Un canto por México [A Song for Mexico] (2020).

“Composing songs synthesizes my impressions of life; it’s an outlet,” she says. “My friend and collaborator David Aguilar told me that it was important to capture this early stage of my life, because it was honest and pure. Because it was me.”

Natalia Lafourcade

Lafourcade’s first musical steps go back to when she was very little. She was 10-years-old when she went on stage for the first time. Her father, Gastón, came from the world of classical music and her mother was very fond of three artists in particular: Armando Manzanero, Violeta Parra and Mercedes Sosa, from Mexico, Chile and Argentina respectively.

“However, when I heard rancheras [Mexican country music], I really liked it. I started singing it at school. I sang [songs by] Juan Gabriel and José Alfredo Giménez,” she recalls. Her passion for singing was so great that she convinced her mother to take her to bars, where she could go on stage to perform her rancheras.

“My mom was a little scared of taking me [to those places], but she supported me. She bought me a pink dress, combed my hair and put some flowers on me.” Young Lafourcade sang every Saturday and there was no night that she didn’t enjoy it.

However, she didn’t know that she lacked technique until, one fine day, in the bathroom of a pub, both Lafourcade and her mother were made aware of it: “A lady grabbed me in the bathroom. My mom was there, too. She told us: ‘If the girl continues to sing like this, she will lose her voice. She sings with her throat; she doesn’t know how [to use her chest and stomach] and, on top of that, her voice is changing. It’s going to break. She has to take singing lessons.’ The lady sang with a mariachi band. I’m very grateful to her.”

Lafourcade began a long search for teachers. “I had no idea what I wanted to do. My only musical reference was what I had seen on television. I knew that I wanted to sing and that I wanted to be on television, because that was what I saw.”

“I got into the school singing group, where we sang everything, songs by Alicia Villarreal, Mecano, Selena, or Luis Miguel.” Yet, nothing satisfied her. The young singer became obsessed with getting on TV. “I wanted to go directly to Televisa (a major channel). My parents didn’t want it… My father didn’t even want us to drink Coca-Cola! He was the total opposite of pop and commercial culture. But I was so stubborn that I called the station every week to get them to give me a chance. My mother, after seeing the phone bill, realized that I was serious. She put me in a good music school. In the afternoons, I went to dance and acting classes. I started to learn more.” At the age of 15, Lafourcade joined a choreographic pop group that she prefers not to remember. “That was a horrible time,” she laughs.

Natalia Lafourcade

She made her musical debut at the age of 18, with an album that bore her name: Natalia Lafourcade (2002). There’s an introduction in which she sings in English and sounds more like a jazzy singer, somewhat retro. Then, a special voice emerges — one that was eagerly applying itself to Mexican alternative pop. She was an artist in search of an identity.

By the time she released works such as Hu hu hu (2009) and Mujer divina [Divine Woman] (2012) — a tribute to Agustín Lara — Lafourcade had already achieved success in Mexico. She became a star. More importantly, many music lovers saw a singer-songwriter who was here to stay. And then came Hasta la raíz (2015), a huge hit, which created a mini-revolution in Latin American music. She won four Latin Grammys, as well as a Grammy for best alternative album — a milestone before the powerful American industry. As Julieta Venegas had done before, Lafourcade set a new standard. With an honest and deep voice, she managed to combine the worlds of folklore and pop, as if they flowed in a single stream. Since then, her goal has always been to be free, like those birds that fly over her garden in Veracruz.

“I feel like an outcast. Out of place. Sometimes, I don’t see how I fit into the times that we live in,” she confesses. She represents an alternative path to the reggaeton and urban music that dominates Latin America. Her path has a distinct personality, where the basic sounds are combined with pop, jazz and bolero. “I do this because [the sounds] attract me. They remind me of a more romantic way of living, with greater contemplation.” Her delicate, dreamy and evocative songs draw wonderful threads from the past to the present. Everyone can find different meanings in her songs, depending on what they’re thinking or how they’re feeling.

“ Reggaeton is a reflection of our current culture . Millions of people connect with this kind of music. It must have something that I just don’t understand. There’s a language, an era, whether it’s right or wrong, I can’t say for certain. It’s not up to me to decide. I respect [different genres of music] a lot. I just know that, if I [joined that trend], everyone would look at me strangely. People who know me know that I’m always going against the tide; although, now, the tide and I are going together.”

Natalia Lafourcade

The currents have led her to De todas las flores, an album that hides one of the most painful compositions in the life of its author. The song Muerte [Death] is dedicated to her nephew, Nicolás, who died at the age of 38 in the mountains. “He died in his space. He loved nature. He left a letter written in which he said that the only thing he would give up his life for would be the land,” she says. The song came to her in a “very brutal” way. “I feel like he needed me to do this song, to give it to his mom and sing it to her. I didn’t write the song. He did it, he dictated it to me,” she explains.

Nature is always present in her life, like the flowers that are laid out on Day of the Dead in Mexico . Flowers with strong scents and many petals, adorning the altars. “Marigolds are my favorites. Also the bougainvilleas, which are very warlike, or the orchids, which are exotic, very feminine, erotic. In Mexico, we call orchids volcano flowers.”

All these colors represent hope and can be found in the Veracruz garden where Natalia Lafourcade now spends her days. “There’s nothing better than knowing that this garden will always be there for me, because it’s mine.” And adds: “Life doesn’t go flat. There are always changes and movements. Everything is transforming, little by little, like flowers.”

Natalia Bryant credits Kobe Bryant for sparking her love for Taylor Swift

Natalia Bryant , the eldest daughter of the late Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Bryant , has recently shared her admiration for pop sensation Taylor Swift . In a candid interview with E! News’ The Rundown at the Revolve Festival, the 21-year-old revealed the origins of her Swiftie status and how it has become intertwined with cherished family memories.

Natalia quickly credits her parents when asked who sparked the Bryant family’s genuine love for Taylor Swift. “Both my parents, absolutely,” she affirmed, shedding light on a shared affinity for Swift’s music within her household. Recalling her earliest connection to the iconic singer, Natalia excitedly revealed that she had discovered her original concert t-shirt from Swift’s inaugural tour. “I actually found my original concert t-shirt from Taylor Swift’s, like, first concert. I still have it,” she added.

The Bryant’s at Tailor Swift’s concerts

In 2015, Swift and Kobe shared the Staples Center stage. The special moment between the singer and the basketball legend player was a surprise for Swift in which the late athlete appeared with a banner that read, “Most sold-out performances.” 2018, the family also attended Swift’s 2018 Reputation concert in Los Angeles alongside Natalia and her late sister Gianna .

Tragically, the Bryant family was struck by unimaginable loss in 2020 when Kobe and Gianna Bryant, along with several others, perished in a helicopter crash. Despite the heartache, Natalia admires Swift’s music amidst the grief.

In 2023, Vanessa Bryant brought the memory of her late husband to the SoFi Stadium on Thursday for the Taylor Swift concert.

The philanthropist took to social media to share photos of her experience at the concert and the unique, customized denim jacket she wore to watch Swift perform. Natalia was also in attendance.

However, despite her deep-seated fandom, the University of Southern California student shared she has missed a chance to exchange friendship bracelets with the 14-time Grammy winner.

About Dinamo Elektrostal

Moscow’s Dinamo Elektrostal are gearing up for their fifth EHL season having frequently picked off impressive wins but have yet to top their particular group in their previous attempts.

They did get the best of arch rivals Dinamo Ak-Bars in both the Russian Cup and the Prometheus International tournament to show they are knocking on the door.

There has been a reasonable level of turnover from 2020 with Anton Noshin, Evgenii Mokrousov, Aleksei Godenkov and Ivan Zuikov joining the newly formed TsOP Moskomsport outfit. Danill Karagodin, Mikhail Nekludov and Ilya Larikov have all retired.

Their replacements are mostly youngsters with Dmitry Zheleznyakov, Aleksei Samylkin, Petr Agapov, Ilia Bartenev, Andrei Gribanov and Oleg Kulakov joining their line-up.
