I've seen 100's of concerts. Anything from metal to classical and Miranda Lambert is my favorite artist in concert. Her shows get better every time I see her. The shows are well produced but Miranda makes the show feel like you're all just hanging out jamming in the garage. She takes a large arena and makes it an intimate setting. The sound quality of her shows is second to none. You can even hear the high hat from the drummer!

Show was absolutely 100% awesome!! Miranda put on one helluva show. She sang a great mix of her older songs along with her new songs recently released on her Wildcard album. She was full of energy and kept the crowd involved during the show.

Maren Morris was before Miranda and she was also great. She also revealed that she was pregnant which was kinda cool.

If I had to rate this concert on a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 9.8 since I don’t believe anyone is ever perfect. If you haven’t seen her in concert, I would definitely recommend you purchase tickets and go see her energy packed show!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Miranda always has an amazing show and definitely makes sure her fans have a great time. Filling the “Little Red Wagon” for “Mutt Nation” was a pleasure. Miranda definitely cares deeply for dogs and her fans make sure they do their part to help fill that wagon with dog food, toys, treats and monetary donations. Miranda, thank you for all you do for Mutt Nation!!! We LOVE you!!!

Miranda Lambert , having just wrapped her twice-extended, 48-show Velvet Rodeo residency in Las Vegas, has signed with Republic Records.

The most awarded artist in Academy of Country Music history—including their top Entertainer of the Year honor—will also be supported by the Nashville-based Big Loud, including Country Radio promotion as well as other marketing efforts.

The announcement signals Lambert’s first new solo music since 2022’s critically acclaimed, GRAMMY-, ACM- and Country Music Association-nominated Palomino . “Wranglers,” arriving May 3, is her first track under the new deal.

The news arrives ahead of a highly anticipated appearance at the Stagecoach Festival this Saturday, April 27. Fans worldwide can join the excitement by tuning into the Amazon Music livestream of the seven-time CMA Female Vocalist and five-time ACM Album of the Year winner’s set. Fans can also listen to her full set on SiriusXM’s “The Highway.”

For Lambert, this marks a significant time to be a woman in music. As she said of her first Republic track, “‘Wranglers’ is a tale of a woman taking her power back. I think we can all identify with the character in this song, because we have all had a time in our life that we needed to find a way to find our strength and also get a little revenge on someone that did us wrong or hurt us.”

She continued about her new label, “Music is and always will be the thing that drives me, but having a new home has given me a hunger I didn’t realize I still had inside me. This song feels like it could be on the same record as ‘Gunpowder & Lead’; it has that same fury. I can’t wait to get out there with this new label and this new music… Monte Lipman and his team fire me up!”

When people think of country superstar Miranda Lambert , one of the things that first comes to mind is pyro — not because she has that huge a penchant for setting things off on stage (though it happens), but because of lyrical connotations going back to her first platinum single, “Kerosene.” When it comes to her own career, though, things have consistently gone too well to ever need to go into burn-it-all-down mode. As she’s subtle changed approach from album to album and single to single, Lambert has been all about controlled burns.

These career changes are worth putting stock in for anyone who cares about the genre, since, as Variety noted in reviewing her Stagecoach headlining set last month, “She has a strong a catalog as anyone in country music… Whoever the entertainer of the year may be at any given recent point [an award the ACMs finally granted her in 2022], Lambert has a strong claim on being country’s entertainer of the last two decades.”

Variety caught up with Lambert via phone during her latest business trip to Nashville to discuss her new affiliation with a New York-based powerhouse; the boutique label that she herself founded, Big Loud Texas; her triumphant Stagecoach festival appearance; and how, in her part of the world, tequila counts as a health food.

How would you describe your new single, “Wranglers,” in a nutshell?

The lyrics say, “She set it all on fire, and if there’s one thing that she learned / Wranglers take forever to burn.” I’ve worn Wranglers, but never thought about how flammable they are or aren’t.

Well, it turns out they’re not very flammable at all. [Laughs.] Don’t ask me how I know.

Since it’s your first release with a new label, it seems like a single that helpfully establishes some continuity — like, this is a Miranda we know and love. But one thing that is different about it is that it’s an outside cut.

Yeah. It was important to me on this record to cut some outside songs. I love so many songwriters in this town, and admire them so much, and there’s so many great songs laying around this town that may never find a home. So it was important to me to go digging for some gems around town and be asking my friends, “Send me songs.” People are writing great songs every day and they can’t all get cut, so I really wanted to make it a point. I love writing songs and pride myself on being a songwriter. But I also think about some of the really big hits in my set list, like “The House That Built Me,” and “Little Red Wagon” and “Mama’s Broken Heart.” I didn’t write any of those, and so if I wasn’t open to outside songs, I would never have found those songs that are staples in my career.

To talk about the biggest and freshest news in your career, signing with Republic, and there also being a Big Loud connection… Of course people in the business have been in suspense, because you had declared your free agency when you announced you were leaving Sony Nashville a year ago. Did you want to let people know you really were free of Sony, making that public so early in the process of moving on?

I really wanted to take my time to findthe right family and the right time, to be honest. I mean, 20 years is a long time to be in one place. And a lot of good things happened there; my career’s been spent on one label. But sometimes it’s time to move forward and do something different. You know, I took meetings with everybody, because I also love Nashville and I love the people here and I wanted to talk through it with all of my friends that I’ve met in the business. But Republic just felt really like something fresh with new ideas and a different way of doing it. Since I’ve been doing it for now 21 years, I’m all about fresh ideas. There’s a whole other world out there now from when I first started releasing music to now.

Republic is the most successful label in the business right now, so there’s the matter of, who wouldn’t wanna be associated with that…

Absolutely.

But was there anything you found especially appealing beyond obviously their huge record of success?

Honestly, Monte [Lipman, Republic’s founder-CEO] and the people, they’re super cool… We met at a bar in New York when I was doing some other work. And I’m sort of an honorary New Yorker because I married a New Yorker, so I’ve grown to love that city and love the people from it. We just hit it off. We spent like two and a half hours, the first time we met, really talking about music, and [talking with] someone that’s that passionate about music and what they do, it’s really inspiring. I’m all about relationships, and gut feelings, and people . When I had that initial conversation with Monte and Jim Roppo [Republic’s president-COO], I just loved what they had to say and I believed them. And I felt like they’re not just record executives; they’re not just the biggest label in the world. They actually really give a shit. And it’s awesome to see, because that’s not always the case. Sometimes it feels like it’s just a business. But with them, it felt about the music, about all their artists. And their whole team — I mean, they brought in 35 people to meet with me when I flew up there, people from every department. And then Big Loud was like, “We’re on board if you’re on board.” And I just felt really safe and inspired.

Republic’s very gradual move into country has been kind of an interesting thing to watch, because it’s mostly been through the Big Loud relationship. They signed Shania Twain before you, but Republic as a label hasn’t really been out there saying “We’re directly signing country artists” before now. And even Shania is kind of, in some ways, more of a pop artist.

She is. Well, she’s kind of in her own category.

So, you’re their first major country signing who’s really been dedicated to that market specifically. Everything that has happened with their affiliation with Morgan obviously had to have piqued their interest.

Yeah. And you know, I’m not one of those artists that it’s always an easy road with. You know, I really put the art first, and sometimes that takes a little longer. And they were willing to go down that path with me and keep it about the music. And I also appreciated that, because I see the passion and I see the excitement of them wanting to be in the country world, and I love being part of the ground floor of that.

What can you say about album plans and when that might be? And each one of your albums has such a strong identity. So, is there an identity for this album you can explain … and/or a release date?

Funny you should mention that, because one thing I really noticed about your Stagecoach set was, there was a lot of steel guitar on songs I didn’t even remember ever having steel on them before.

It’s my favorite instrument, as you can tell. And also one of my favorite guys in the world plays steel in my band, Spencer (Cullum). So I often just give him the rope and say, “Go for it.”

So with album plans…

Hoping for fall — that’s when we’re shooting for. The sooner the better, for me. I’m excited and ready, and that’s why I’m doing my call with you in the car (between meetings in Nashville).

I’ve got a meeting today for the Big Loud Texas label side of it, which is also really fun. I’m loving getting to learn that side of it and really kind of step into the role of being an artist (advocating) for the artist. Because I’ve been through pretty much all of it, so I can understand the phases and what goes on in an artist’s brain; I’m just there to help and it’s been really cool.

Anything you would say about releases that are coming through your label?

Well, I don’t have any names I can say yet, but we’ve got some really cool things up our sleeve, and Dylan Gossett is our flagship artist and he’s killing it out there. I’m real thrilled to watch his star rise, and it happened really fast and I’m so thrilled that it’s part of what we’re building. I mean, our label is about a legacy of the outlaw movement that came from Texas that inspired all of us — not just country music, even. You know, Willie inspired everybody , I’m pretty sure. So I just feel like Jon and I want to keep that legacy going, and we’re glad to be a tiny part of it.

Can you talk about headlining Stagecoach, and how bringing Reba on for a surprise coda to your set came about?

This is my fifth time to play it — I headlined it three times — but I think it’s really grown as a brand. And country is taking off in a great direction right now, and I know country music has had spurts where it’s not been as popular and then it gets a surge. And so I’m glad the surge is happening now and I’m still in it, you know what I mean? But I also felt pressure for Stagecoach. I wanted to deliver. I thought to myself, who (could be a guest)…  My husband was asking me, “Who’s your dream, on your wishlist?” And I’m like, “Well, Reba is number one.” He was like, “Well, then just ask her.” So I did., and she said yes, and it was awesome. Reba and I haven’t got to do much together in the past, but obviously she’s a hero. She’s such a pro and she’s so sweet, and we had a blast together and I feel like it felt really right.

A co-headlining tour someday would be a big deal, if you were both willing and able.

Sending that out into the universe. I love that idea.

It’s bittersweet. I felt like it was one of those things where it’s time, all of a sudden. We loved it so much and we had a blast, but then it felt like, all right, it’s time to go back on the road now and do our normal things. But it definitely is an adjustment. Vegas is pretty cushy. You’re in one spot, and that’s just not how it’s been for 20 years. So we really enjoyed having downtime and time to be a person, versus living on the road.

We haven’t announced our tour yet, but we’re routing it right now [for next year]. It’s good because we’re playing a lot of shows this year, but we’re kind of easing back into the road, so it’s not like a super-shock. Because Vegas, like I said, spoils you a little bit. But I’m excited to go back on the road and to support this record. There’s something magical about going to these small towns and finding the people that are just like you that relate to your music and being in their environment. There is something that keeps us doing it. I mean, we stay in this business until we physically can’t, and I think that’s the draw, is the fans.

You’ve had a lot of endeavors on the entrepreneurial level — the Wanda June Home collection, the Idyllwind clothing and boot line, and being the first female star to open a branded bar on Lower Broad in Nashville, Casa Rosa. Do you always want to keep a corner of your mind dedicated to business opportunities and where to expand your brand that way?

Yes. I think that’s a natural progression. And I’ve learned a lot; we’ve made mistakes along the way, and then we’ve had some great ideas. Across the board, I feel like we stick to our gut and stick to what is really authentic to me. Because that’s what I’ve done in the music and that’s what leads this whole thing, because none of that would happen without the music working. So that’s what I put most of my energy into. But I also feel like I want to be an inspiration to other women, and the success in the music business I’ve worked really hard for has led me to be able to do these other things. And also, it’s a bigger plan than me. Because I probably can’t tour forever, like, physically, or maybe would not want to at some point in my life. And so building these things around what the music has built feels like the right thing to do to keep my brand and my legacy going as an artist.

This isn’t an entrepreneurial effort per se, but you have an endorsement now with Lone River, which is something you haven’t done much of. Why that was appealing. It’s easy to imagine some reasons: based in Texas; run by a woman [founder Katie Beal Brown].

I admit that I got thrown off because, being from California, I saw “ranch water” and I thought, “That seems like a very clean living sort of thing for Miranda to put her brand to.” And then I figured out what probably everybody else knows — or certainly everyone in around Texas would know: that ranch water does not actually mean water.

I mean, it’s healthy. They say tequila is the best drink you can drink if you want to be healthy. So we’re onto something.

Get your hemp necklaces and nag champa ready, because Miranda Lambert is about to embark on the “Livin’ Like Hippies” tour come January, and even if you’re fair to partly cloudy on Ran Ran herself, she’s assembled a pretty badass lineup of openers that represent a who’s who of cool independent acts that may coax you off your couch of nothing else does.

Opening all tour dates for Miranda will be mainstream traditionalist Jon Pardi , and ahead of him will be a revolving door of interesting acts that will get an opportunity to play in front of probably some of the biggest crowds of their careers. At various ports of call, Brent Cobb, the Turnpike Trubadours, Luci Silvas, The Steel Woods, Sunny Sweeney, Charlie Worsham , and the recently signed to Warner Music Nashville Ashley McBryde will all enjoy the better catering of a major tour as they play in front of arena crowds.

The Livin’ Like Hippies tour will grace a total of 23 cities, and is named for a line from Miranda’s song “Highway Vagabond” from her recent album The Weight of These Wings . The tour might act as a victory lap after Miranda walked away with a ton of nominations for the CMA Awards in November, and is a strong contender for having a big CMA night. Lucky Washington state and that guy Eugene!

That’s where I’m located and I just about fainted from excitement reading this.

Yeah, but not that lucky. I don’t think Turnpike has played up here in 3 years. Not one show. And as much as this is a great show, it probably means even more time until Turnpike headlines up here again.

Awesome! This is exactly what I want to see from some of the more Mainstream Country/Americana acts! Was really happy when Stapleton brought Margo Price and Brent Cobb with him to New Hampshire. Hopefully Miranda adds more dates to this tour for next year.

Tigger- What do you make of Ashley McBryde? She’s got some good stuff out there imho.

Ashley McBryde is the real deal. Her songs are awesome, and she has put in the hours in the bars. Good for her for getting an opening slot with Miranda Lambert.

I’ll probably have something on her soon.

I haven’t seen her in concert for years because every time she came through these parts she was with a Kenny Chesney or Jason Andean. I’ll definitely end that drought this tour!

This is great! I will definitely be at the OKC show. Last time I saw Sunny Sweeney was at the Blue Door in OKC. Max capacity is aprox. 50 souls. I’ll be seeing her at the same place Dec. 2nd. Chesapeake’s max capacity for concerts is 17, 000. Quite a jump, there! I’m nervous and excited for her! wow! 👍

I saw Miranda here in the UK as part of her Highway Vagabond Tour and she puts on a good show. Apparently she’s a bit temperamental though. For example, the show I went to see in Manchester was great but when she played Glasgow a few days later, there were reports that she seemed disinterested, didn’t really speak to the crowd and stormed off without coming back for the encore. I heard similar reports from her Platinum Tour so, if you book tickets, just hope she’s in a good mood.

So the show you saw was good but ya “read” others didn’t have a great show. Ah always fun to be In the rumor spreading group. The Scotland show that she stayed after and gave autographs/took pics w/ people. That show? Man what a diva. The show that SOME people blew out of proportion b/c someone’s fan base got on twitter and started stuff. Encores aren’t ALWAYS not a given. Great audiences get them. Ok off my soapbox. Once again hard to be a female artist.

I mean not really rumor spreading, videos exist (of the Scotland show) of the lack of encore. I saw it on one of her fan sites.

I have to agree with you on the encore aspect. When did encores become a given at almost every concert? An audience really should earn an encore from the performers.

With the high price of tickets,food,drink and merch, the audience “earn” an encore as soon as they sit in their seats

The Troubadours deserve huge crowds. They’ll melt some faces that were not prepared to be melted.

I’m kind of worried about them. It’s an opener for the opener spot on the tour (maybe 20 min) I’m not sure how many people will even make it in. A big arena 1/2 full with disinterested patrons …. I’ve been there.

That’s a good break for Jon Pardi. Gets him in front of more eyes. Build off of his radio success.

I’m really excited very cool group. Glad Ashley McBryde got a deal but Warners sucks. WB is we’re talented female artists go to die, see Ashley Monroe, Brandy Clark, Aubrie Sellers to name a few. Anyway ❤️ Sunny, Troubadours, Charlie, Ash, etc.

Actually (& maybe sadly) warners one of the better mainstream labels out there. They actually allow their artists to put out albums, and work even the females hard to radio.

Warner releases albums w/ little to no promotion. Where is the radio push? If Esposito wanted, he could leverage Blake to get radio to play these ladies. No Blake free tickets/interviews unless they (Brandy Clark, Ashley Monroe or Aubrie Sellers) get airtime. It happens all the time but nothing from Warner. But no! I agree-Warner is where great talented songwriters go to die.

But not just women. They use Blake as their cash cow to push out album after album and won’t let him develop as an artist and record his own songs. #1’s all they care about. Brett Eldredge is doing his own promo via SM no help from WMN. Raelynn actually wrote a really good album and got screwed over same with Ashley.

WMN is stuck in 2010. They don’t know how to effectively promo artists and it shows in their artists dated fanbases and inability to stream.

They had a big radio push for both raelynn & wmm. It seems like you think if a label waves its magic wand, radio plays songs & pple become stars.

I’m surprised she’s playing large venues considering how below average her tickets sold on some dates on her current tour

I was thinking the same thing when I looked at the capacity of some of the venues on this tour. I hope she does well with tickets sales but I’m just not sure it will happen.

Don’t discount the draw Jon Pardi could have on these shows. He’s logged two #1’s here recently, and may have a 3rd here shortly with “Heartache on the Dance Floor.” I think that’s working into the calculus, especially since he will appeal to a lot of the same fans. I wouldn’t call it a co-headliner, but Pardi is quickly becoming a serious star. His album continues to sell strongly as well.

Yup think they’re counting on Jon to draw in the crowds. Interesting that he is the opener while performing better than Miranda currently.

These large venues are idiotic though. Half the venue is blocked out seating and stage. That was one of the complaints from fans of her European tour. 2000 seats available in an 8000 capacity venue.

Pardi performs better on radio but lets not get crazy thinking she should open for him? 2 radio hits and one album? Really? Miranda sold out the shows I attended earlier this year. Seems like the usual dump on Miranda group is out once again. She has never been apart of the play smaller venues to get SOLD OUT on the website. I have also really liked that all of her tickets are the same price. No VIP package crap, trying to make her fans pony up more and more money.

Boxscores don’t lie. Miranda is far from selling out shows. Her tickets aren’t the same price either. She has premium floor tickets all the way up to 4 for $24 ticket deals as well as groupon sales. Miranda is well known to play bigger venues with smaller ticket allotments than the venues capacity so that they can work the sold out angle. That was one of the main complaints about her Glasgow show, she didn’t connect with the audience because half the venue was blocked out. Her show at the Iventim only 2500 tickets went up for sale. It’s wasn’t a sellout and the venue holds 8000+

That was also the issue here in Texas when they tried to put her into arenas. They couldn’t even fill the floor and first level. She cancelled with vocal issues. Ask Trigger. It’s not dumping on Miranda to try and figure out why they’re going for these large venues. It costs her and her team money. We should be able to discuss these things without Miranda fans with chips on their shoulders crying victim.

Cool tour, seems to be somewhat of a trend. Several of these artists also opened for Tim & Faith. Interesting to see how much time openers, Pardi & then Miranda get. I’d be surprised if Pardi gets less than an hour.

That Brent Cobb is something else. He was great opening for Chris Stapleton but wow did he kill at during AmericanFest. Love these openers. I hope she gets back to Austin soon.

Turnpike in Tacoma! I’d go just to see them. Miranda is icing on the cake. Pardi is ok too, but it’ll be bathroom break time when he starts dusting off his boots.

Lucie Silvas has one of the most interesting musical backgrounds I can imagine. She wrote songs for The Saturdays, had a #1 hit duet in Netherlands with Marco Borsato (who is a huge star there) and the last few years has been venturing into country music. Letters To Ghosts is definitely one of my favorite country songs in some time.

Glad she is getting recognition.

Miranda Lambert & Morgan Wallen to Headline 2023 Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam

Reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year Miranda Lambert joins previously announced superstar Morgan Wallen as two-of-the-four headliners for the 11th Annual Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam, organizers just announced on the festival’s Facebook .

Scheduled for June 1-4, 2023 at Frank Brown Park in beautiful Panama City Beach, tickets for next year’s festival are currently available at GulfCoastJam.com .

“Miranda headlined one of our very first Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam festivals, and we’ve been working like crazy to get her back ever since,” said Executive Producer Rendy Lovelady. “She is an entertainer who leaves it all on the stage every time she performs, and we’re excited to add her to our amazing 2023 lineup.”

Listed by Billboard as one of “The 10 Best Country Music Festivals,” the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam is the largest music event in the southeast. Organizers added an extra day this year to commemorate the festival’s 10-year anniversary. The fourth day was such a success, the decision was made to make the additional day a permanent part of the schedule.

“Sky Boxes, Side Stage and Super VIP are already sold out for 2023, and we’ve only announced two-of-our-four headliners,” said Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam COO Mark Sheldon. “We’re encouraging Jammers to purchase passes and book accommodations soon, because this is going to be an incredible weekend of music!”
