Trip Flip was a travel show that aired on the Travel Channel in 2012. The show was hosted by comedian Bert Kreischer, and he was joined by two adventure-seekers: Jake Kaplan and Matt Haeger. Each episode of Trip Flip followed the trio as they surprised unsuspecting tourists with the adventure of a lifetime.

The concept of the show was straightforward. Bert, Jake, and Matt would randomly select two tourists who were visiting a particular location and ask them if they wanted to go on an adventure. If the tourists said yes, then the trio would immediately take them on a once-in-a-lifetime trip that they would never forget. The twist was that the tourists had no idea where they were going or what they were going to do. The show was essentially a chance for Bert, Jake, and Matt to showcase the wonders of the world and introduce viewers to some of the most exciting destinations on the planet.

One of the things that made Trip Flip so exciting to watch was the unpredictability of each episode. Since the tourists had no idea what kind of adventure they were about to embark on, each episode was filled with excitement, suspense, and surprise. The show took its viewers to some of the most exotic and exciting locations around the world, from the beaches of Hawaii to the glaciers of Alaska.

Bert road trips through Ohio with two adrenaline junkies. They slip and fly into a pool, soar through the sky in stunt planes, & play Polka music. Not sold on Ohio beforehand, they find that it's one of the hidden gems of America.

Wisconsin: Water Water Everywhere

Bert takes a couple from Arizona to Wisconsin where they sail the open seas and visit the nation’s largest water park. However, day 2 starts out a little shaky as one adventurer finds himself laying in a hospital bed. But after being released — and a major surprise — Wisconsin will be a place that Andrea and Ignacio will never forget.

Fiji: Sailing through Sea and Air

Bert finds a couple in a hot Kansas water park and takes them island hopping through Fiji on a stunning, luxurious 50' yacht with a private chef and a crew. They take a leap from 14,000 feet and dive down 70 more to explore a sunken ship.

Alabama: The Road to Talladega

Bert races through Alabama with a couple of bikers from Chicago. They participate in an Alabama tradition known as the Mullet Toss and then head north to partake in some bass fishing. Finally, they trek to a NASCAR Sprint Cup race to ride in the pace car, meet the drivers and stand in the winner's circle.

Utah: Strap In, Slot Out

Go big or go home! Bert takes a lucky couple on an extreme outdoor adventure in Utah. They jump into a crater, rappel down one of the largest arches in the world, and get shot through the air at 80 mph by a backyard slingshot.

Vietnam: Jamming, Junks & the Jungle

Bert treks through Vietnam with two buskers from Cleveland in tow. They sail the waters of Halong Bay, get their ears cleaned on the streets of Hanoi, hike through the jungle and sleep in a three million year old cave.

Japan: Bullets, Boats & Black Belts

Whale sharks and saki, what else can you ask for? Bert Kreischer takes a couple from Minneapolis to Japan where they ride go-karts in the street, eat fresh squid from a moving boat, learn karate from a true sensei, and get locked-up.

Tanzania: Lions, Tigers & Bert

Bert finds a couple in Arizona to take on a Tanzanian adventure. They drink goat's blood with the Maasai and go on safari to see big game. Then they jump on an ox cart and take a leap of faith on the ancient island of Zanzibar.

South Africa: Kicking & Screaming

Bert takes 2 international travel virgins to South Africa for an ultimate outdoor adventure. They leap off of a World Cup stadium, eat bunny chow with their hands and ask a healer to accurately predict their future with animal bones.

Get ready to shake your tail feather at Mardi Gras in New Orleans! Bert takes a couple on a quest for celebration — and beads — throughout the whole state of Louisiana, from swamps to the heart of the French Quarter.

Michigan: Pasties, Puppies & the Plunge

The freezing cold can’t stop Bert! Smack in the middle of the Michigan winter, he takes a warm-blooded Louisiana couple on a crazy outdoor adventure. From dogsledding to plunging into a freezing cold lake wearing practically nothing, the fun never stops.

North Carolina: From the Heat into the Frying Pan

Bert finds an adventurous spirit and a recovering couch potato to take to the South. But not all goes as planned when Bert get's hurt on a rappel. Will he continue on? Or will this Trip Flip couple go home disappointed?

Flip the Strip Season 2 Release date on HGTV – Cast, Story, Trailer

Flip the Strip Storyline & Synopsis

The first episode of the series will show Stone and her often-untidy colleagues working together to create a simplified home to homeowners Melissa and Kelsey who are unable to agree on the vision they have for their common space. Each of them has an individual renovation task to take on: Patterson serves as the project manager; Black is a meticulous painter; Cleary is a carpenter and Wills-Martin is an exhibitor or “do-it-all” expert.

Through the six, one-hour episodes, viewers can watch as the crew gets into the work while uttering lots of “Aussie-isms” along the way. The “Flip the Strip” crew will also exercise more than their muscles, each one having a unique remodeling role to play. They’re collaborating together with designer Kelly Stone “to turn their clients’ homes that are cookie cutters into a glamorous desert oasis.

“Flip the Strip” focussed on Hotties Ben Cleary, Dan Paterson, Liam Black, and Malik Wills-Martin. They’re classified as “headliners by night and expert tradesmen by day,” who had all worked in home and construction prior to their entry into the male-centric revue. Furthermore, every one of the four handsome men is assigned roles to perform for the house renovation.

New Series Featuring 'Australia’s Thunder From Down Under' Stars Comes to HGTV

These steamy construction gurus are ready to 'Flip the Strip.' Here's what you need to know.

The sweltering Las Vegas heat is nothing compared to the smoldering stars of the male revue stage show Australia’s Thunder from Down Under .

This steamy foursome will launch their home renovation business in HGTV’s newest series, Flip the Strip , which premieres Monday, July 10 at 10|9c .

Headliners by night and expert tradesman by day, Ben Cleary , Dan Paterson , Liam Black and Malik Wills-Martin will work with celebrated interior designer Kelly Stone to turn their clients’ humdrum homes into glitzy desert oases. The six, hour-long episodes will feature over-the-top casino-inspired style, including decadent chandeliers, imaginative bar setups, custom statement balustrades and one abstract art piece involving paint and a shirtless dancer that must be seen to be believed. Along the way, the guys will drop some “Aussie-isms” into their vernacular that will illustrate the ups and downs of each renovation.

“Between Ben, Malik, Liam and I, we have a ton of experience in the construction industry from our time before joining the cast of Australia’s Thunder from Down Under ,” says Dan. “We are here in the United States to perform, but we also want to try our hand at building a business and deliver the best possible renovations to our clients.”

In addition to their dancing skills, each of the guys will have a renovation role to play. Dan doubles as the project manager; Ben is a skilled carpenter; Liam is a talented painter/finisher; and Malik is a demo and “do-it-all” ace. In the first episode, Kelly and the foursome will work together to create a beautifully cohesive space for homeowners Melissa and Kelsey, who are at odds when it comes to the design of their shared home. The team will update the dark kitchen and build out a Vegas-worthy entertaining area complete with a new bar and custom fireplace, all while making it dog-friendly for the couple’s three Golden Retrievers.

HGTV is bringing the stars of sizzling Las Vegas stage show Australia’s Thunder From Down Under to the high-stakes world of home renovation in the new series, Flip the Strip .

Headliners by night, construction gurus by day, dancers Ben Cleary , Dan Paterson , Liam Black and Malik Wills-Martin will work with celebrated interior designer Kelly Stone to make clients' home design dreams a reality. The series will include six one-hour episodes premiering on the network in late summer 2023 .

News1 then reported as of April 27 (KST) that most of the cast, excluding those with additional personal schedules, were preparing to return home. Some were scheduled to enter through Incheon International Airport on the morning of April 27.

However, the crew—including the responsible production director—remains under investigation for the charge of filming without prior permission. The billed fine for the unauthorized filming is reported to be around ₩100 million KRW (about $72,600 USD).

As the cast has not been released, it remains unknown as to what specific filming activity has been deemed problematic.

Meanwhile, the news has K-Pop fans relieved about the idols getting cleared—though most are baffled that the production crew would attempt  “their usual thug sh*t” on an official shoot.

Trump promised big plans to flip Black and Latino voters. Many Republicans are waiting to see them

N EW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump says he wants to hold a major campaign event at New York's Madison Square Garden featuring Black hip-hop artists and athletes. Aides speak of Trump making appearances in Chicago, Detroit and Atlanta with leaders of color and realigning American politics by flipping Democratic constituencies.

But five months before the first general election votes are cast, the former president's campaign has little apparent organization to show for its ambitious plans.

His campaign removed its point person for coalitions and has not announced a replacement. The Republican Party's minority outreach offices across the country have been shuttered and replaced by businesses that include a check-cashing store, an ice cream shop and a sex-toy store. Campaign officials acknowledge they are weeks away from rolling out any targeted programs.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has struggled to navigate a messy transition into the November election , plagued by staffing issues, personal legal troubles and the “Make America Great Again” movement's disdain for “ identity politics .” There are signs of frustration on the ground, where Republicans believe Trump has a real opportunity to cut into Democratic President Joe Biden’s advantages with voters of color.

“To be quite honest, the Republican Party does not have a cohesive engagement plan for Black communities,” said Darrell Scott, a Black pastor and longtime Trump ally who co-founded the National Diversity Coalition for Trump in 2016. “What it has are conservatives in communities of color who have taken it upon themselves to head our own initiatives.”

On-the-ground organizing has long been a hallmark of successful presidential campaigns, which typically invest tremendous resources into identifying would-be supporters and ensuring they vote. The task may be even more critical this fall given how few voters are excited about the Biden-Trump rematch.

But in Michigan, a pivotal state that flipped from Trump to Biden four years ago, several party officials confirmed that the Republican National Committee, overhauled by Trump allies after he clinched the nomination in March, has yet to set up any community centers for minority outreach. Office spaces to house the centers have been offered up by community members, but staffing has been an issue, said the Oakland County GOP chair, Vance Patrick.

“We’ve got all these carts but we have no horses yet,” Patrick said. “So, it’s all about making sure we have staffing when we open up these offices.”

In Wayne County, home to Detroit, local Republican officials say they are trying to figure it out on their own.

“It’s me setting up events or people just reaching out to me,” said Rola Makki, the outreach vice chair for the Michigan GOP, noting she hasn’t seen any minority outreach centers open in spite of claims to the contrary by Trump’s national campaign team.

In recent years, the RNC invested big in community centers and minority outreach based on the belief that real relationships with voters, even those who typically do not support Republicans, would make a difference on Election Day. Since taking over the RNC in the spring, however, Trump's team has dramatically scaled back such efforts.

“Traditionally, Republicans have not been effective in their efforts to persuade Black and Hispanic voters to vote for our party,” said Lynne Patton, a senior adviser on the campaign overseeing coalitions work who has worked closely with the Trump family for decades. "But this is yet another reason why President Trump was adamant that his hand-picked leadership team assume control at the RNC and spearhead a unified effort to embrace the historic defection being witnessed within Black & Hispanic communities from the Democrat party and ensure it's permanent.”

The campaign hired a national coalitions director last October. But the staffer, Derek Silver, left in March without explanation, according to two people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share internal discussions. Silver did not return multiple requests for comment. No replacement has been announced.

Trump's advisers reject criticism that they are not doing enough organizing or spending to reach minorities. James Blair, the campaign's political director, said the campaign would not “broadcast” its spending or staffing levels, “but I assure you, it's enough to ensure President Trump’s historic surge in support amongst Black and Hispanic voters sticks in November and beyond.”

Patton said Trump’s political team is laying the groundwork for a robust minority outreach program, although largely in private.

“We are speaking with Black leaders, we are speaking with small-business owners, we’re speaking with famous athletes, hip-hop artists, some of whom I think you’d be surprised if you knew who was talking with us right now,” Patton said in an interview. “These are people who are expressing openness to supporting President Trump both publicly and privately.”

She said the campaign is weeks away from rolling out any specific programs. The delayed timeline stands in stark contrast to the early outreach during Trump’s 2020 reelection bid. He started his coalition efforts, including “Latinos for Trump” and “Black Voices for Trump” programs, in the summer and fall of 2019, respectively.

Trump's team insists he will improve his standing with voters of color, perhaps the most steadfast segment of the Democratic base, regardless of the strategy. Advisers believe the campaign has momentum with both African Americans and Hispanics, especially younger men, and note that Trump has proved he can win in his own way, disregarding traditional rules of politics.

Polls show that many Black and Hispanic adults are dissatisfied with Biden. According to polls by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, Biden's approval among Black adults has dropped from 94% when he started his term to 55% in March. Among Hispanic adults, it dropped from 70% to 32% in the same period.

An April poll by the Pew Research Center confirms the problem is especially acute among younger adults. In this poll, 43% of Black adults under age 50 said they approve of Biden, compared with 70% of those age 50 and older. Among Hispanics, 29% of younger adults said they approve, slightly less than the 42% who said that among those 50 and older.

The Trump campaign’s developing outreach strategy relies on using his celebrity and bombastic personality to create viral moments in communities of color that his advisers believe will have more impact than grassroots organizing or paid advertising alone. Advisers point to Trump's appearances at an Atlanta Chick-fil-A , a New York bodega and a New York City police officer's wake as examples of the strategy.

His allies argue that increased frustration about crime, inflation and immigration may win over some voters of color who have previously been less receptive to Trump’s record and divisive rhetoric.

“Communities of color aren’t leaning toward the right, they’re leaning toward Trump,” said Scott, the pastor and close Trump ally who is calling on the RNC to ramp up and reform its efforts. Scott said Black voters support Democrats because of the party's longtime outreach to the community, which the GOP has not matched, and said the 2024 election presents an opportunity that the party shouldn't waste. “Trump is the draw; Trump is the magnet.”

Biden has been spending millions of dollars on ads targeting Black and Latino voters in key states. That's in addition to dozens of new office openings in minority neighborhoods. All the while, Biden's team has frequently sent out Vice President Kamala Harris, the nation's first Black female vice president, and other prominent leaders of color.

The Democratic president's campaign points to record-low minority unemployment rates and education policies such as funding for historically Black colleges and universities and student loan forgiveness, as well as Biden's stance on civil rights policy.

“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans proudly admitting that they have no real strategy to reach Black voters because they believe all they need is rap concerts and free chicken is only surprising if you haven’t paid attention to Trump’s fraudulent relationship to Black America for years,” said Jasmine Harris, the Biden campaign's director of Black media, who described Trump as “a fraud” who "takes every opportunity available to him to demean our community.”

After the publication of this story, Patton responded to the critiques from the Biden campaign.

“No one is proudly admitting a ‘non-plan’ plan. That is simply desperate deflection from a deep blue party hemorrhaging Black and brown voters due to destructive immigration policies and billions in foreign aid that continues to put minority Americans last," Patton said. "To the contrary, we are rolling out the largest, most comprehensive and strategic coalitions effort the Republican Party has ever undertaken and have detailed that plan to top surrogates, grassroots allies and even media outlets to great reception.”

Trump's personal legal troubles may also be complicating his plans.

Campaign officials believe they should wait to come out with new initiatives until the conclusion of Trump’s New York criminal hush money trial, which is expected to extend deep into May, if not longer.

In the meantime, there are visible signs of a lack of investment in swing states. AP reporters visited the sites of several former community outreach centers that have now been shuttered.

In Allentown, Pennsylvania, the GOP vacated its Hispanic outreach office in January 2023, a few months after the midterm election, according to the landlord, Hem Vaidya. He said the office, which he recalled as a busy place, was staffed by Hispanic workers.

Republican officials recently approached him about renting the same space again, but he declined because they only wanted it for eight months. The storefront is now occupied by his own check-cashing business.

In Wisconsin, the RNC closed a Hispanic outreach center in Milwaukee after the 2022 midterms and it will soon be home to an ice cream shop, according to Daniel Walsh, leasing agent for the property.

Matt Fisher, a spokesman for the Wisconsin Republican Party, said the state GOP continues to operate a Black outreach center in Milwaukee. As for targeting Hispanic voters, the state party and RNC are still weighing how to approach that task.

In suburban Atlanta, one RNC community outreach center focused on outreach to Asian American voters was shuttered and later was reopened as a sex shop. AP reporters confirmed the venue's change in ownership, which was originally reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Republican strategist Alice Stewart, a veteran of several GOP campaigns, said she is confident the Trump campaign will ultimately do what is necessary.

“But the key is they can’t just talk about minority outreach,” she said. “They have to do it.”

How to Cast, Screen Mirror Your iPhone or Android Phone to Your TV

Sending videos and your phone's apps to your TV is easy, but the steps could vary depending on a few factors.

Shared streaming video can be cast from an iPhone to an Apple TV when using SharePlay in FaceTime.

I recently took a vacation where I wanted to fire up Paramount Plus to watch a few competitive reality shows with friends, but I really didn't want to log in to the app on our Airbnb's television. I didn't want to deal with plodding in my login details using a remote, nor did I want to risk accidentally staying logged in for the vacation home's next guests. Luckily, my  phone  had the  streaming service  ready for viewing on the go, and we figured out how to connect my iPhone to the TV and used AirPlay .

While we fortunately had access to a television with an Apple TV box, that's not strictly necessary anymore. Many TVs now ship with built-in support for AirPlay, Chromecast or Miracast, all of which let you wirelessly connect your phone to a television. The trickiest part isn't whether you can connect your phone to your TV, because you probably can. Instead, you'll need to know which wireless casting connection your phone supports, and make sure the TV you want to connect to also supports it.

We'll divide out how this works, based on whether you're using an iPhone or an Android phone. We'll also point out when you'll be using AirPlay, Chromecast or Miracast to make the connection, depending on what device you have.

iPhone supports AirPlay and Chromecast

Apple's iPhone devices have two ways of connecting wirelessly to a television. On a system level, an iPhone can use AirPlay to cast media from video and music apps to any device that also supports AirPlay. This originally was exclusive to the Apple TV, but AirPlay now supports many televisions made by Samsung, LG, TCL and Vizio, along with Roku's streaming devices. Odds are if your device supports the Apple TV app, somewhere in its settings is also support for AirPlay. 

You can access AirPlay in one of two ways. If you're using a supported app like Paramount Plus, you'll want to tap the AirPlay icon represented by a TV with a triangle. You can also access AirPlay from your phone's Control Center by tapping the icon represented by two rectangles, and then picking the device you're casting to. Using the latter option, you can also mirror your phone's screen to your TV to display apps like Instagram or TikTok that don't include AirPlay from within.

The biggest exception to this Apple TV rule for finding AirPlay are Google's Chromecast devices and televisions that run the Google TV operating system, but the iPhone also supports Chromecast. Similar to using AirPlay from a media app, you'll tap the Chromecast icon represented by a rectangle with three wavy lines. You'll then tap the device you want to cast to. The biggest difference between how AirPlay works on the iPhone and Chromecast is that you won't be able to mirror your iPhone's display over Chromecast.

Certain apps like YouTube will blend these casting options together for convenience. When tapping Google's Chromecast button, a submenu will let you choose between using AirPlay, Chromecast or linking directly to your TV's YouTube app using a code.

And if you want to connect your iPhone to your television using an HDMI cable, Apple also sells a Lightning-to-HDMI adapter that allows for screen mirroring without using AirPlay.

Android always supports Chromecast, sometimes supports Miracast

Android phones don't support AirPlay, but they sometimes support two wireless casting options that connect to nearly any television.

First, all Android phones include Chromecast support. So if your TV has Chromecast built-in or has a Chromecast streaming player attached, you'll be able to connect your phone by tapping the Cast icon from an app or screen mirror using the Google Home app. You can also set up a Screen Cast shortcut in the quick settings drop-down panel, which will provide an even faster way to quickly cast to your TV. CNET's Nelson Aguilar has put together a guide for this, which you can check out here .

Ready For is a software interface that lets you connect your phone to a TV or monitor.

And while it's not supported on every Android phone, Samsung and Motorola both make Android phones that support Miracast for screen mirroring. These features are labeled as "Smart View" and "Ready For" respectively, and will let you connect your phone to televisions or displays that support a setting that's often labeled "Screen Mirroring." What's unique about Miracast is that many Windows PCs also support this style of casting, and during my recent trip that came in handy in order to play some Jackbox games.

An additional note about Samsung's Smart View and Motorola's Ready For is that both support connecting your phone to a television using a USB-C to HDMI cable, should you have one on hand. This could be particularly helpful if you're trying to do a more data-intensive activity on your phone, such as connecting to your TV in order to use your phone more like a computer.

More tips about wirelessly connecting your phone to a TV

Even though many televisions and streaming devices support one or more of these methods, it's still entirely possible that when traveling you won't have a perfect match. For instance you might have an Android phone, but the TV in your hotel room only supports AirPlay or blocks access to the HDMI port. But for home use, now that many televisions support multiple connection options, there's a good chance you can set up a method that works for day-to-day viewing.

You'll also want to keep in mind that much like with video streaming, your network could also affect how effective a wireless connection will be to your TV. Where possible, you will want to have your phone as close to a router as possible, which will help with the connection. If your video quality degrades while streaming, you may also want to turn casting off and on again to reset the connection.

But as long as your phone and television can connect with one of the above methods, you should otherwise be free to stream any movies or music from your phone onto your TV.

First of all, you should know that flipping cars in A Dusty Trip is much simpler than flipping a van, but the process is still the same:

• To begin with, you must push the car to the edge of the asphalt road because there is a small ledge. Hold down the right mouse button and push the car until it is sideways near the road edge.

If you don't succeed on your first or even tenth try, don't worry. The process of flipping a car is indeed complicated and requires practice . Accept the fact that the vehicle will ignore some of your pushes, while other kicks will completely throw your car off the road, after which you will have to start from the beginning. The fact is that this is a bit of buggy physics in the game.

However, this is not always bad. After all, if you push a car lying on its side to the edge of the road, you only need a few light touches to put it on its wheels.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has struggled to navigate a messy transition into the November election , plagued by staffing issues, personal legal troubles and the “Make America Great Again” movement’s disdain for “ identity politics .” There are signs of frustration on the ground, where Republicans believe Trump has a real opportunity to cut into Democratic President Joe Biden’s advantages with voters of color.

“To be quite honest, the Republican Party does not have a cohesive engagement plan for Black communities,” said Darrell Scott, a Black pastor and longtime Trump ally who co-founded the National Diversity Coalition for Trump in 2016. “What it has are conservatives in communities of color who have taken it upon themselves to head our own initiatives.”

On-the-ground organizing has long been a hallmark of successful presidential campaigns, which typically invest tremendous resources into identifying would-be supporters and ensuring they vote. The task may be even more critical this fall given how few voters are excited about the Biden-Trump rematch.

But in Michigan, a pivotal state that flipped from Trump to Biden four years ago, several party officials confirmed that the Republican National Committee, overhauled by Trump allies after he clinched the nomination in March, has yet to set up any community centers for minority outreach. Office spaces to house the centers have been offered up by community members, but staffing has been an issue, said the Oakland County GOP chair, Vance Patrick.

“We’ve got all these carts but we have no horses yet,” Patrick said. “So, it’s all about making sure we have staffing when we open up these offices.”

In Wayne County, home to Detroit, local Republican officials say they are trying to figure it out on their own.

“It’s me setting up events or people just reaching out to me,” said Rola Makki, the outreach vice chair for the Michigan GOP, noting she hasn’t seen any minority outreach centers open in spite of claims to the contrary by Trump’s national campaign team.

In recent years, the RNC invested big in community centers and minority outreach based on the belief that real relationships with voters, even those who typically do not support Republicans, would make a difference on Election Day. Since taking over the RNC in the spring, however, Trump’s team has dramatically scaled back such efforts.

“Traditionally, Republicans have not been effective in their efforts to persuade Black and Hispanic voters to vote for our party,” said Lynne Patton, a senior adviser on the campaign overseeing coalitions work who has worked closely with the Trump family for decades. “But this is yet another reason why President Trump was adamant that his hand-picked leadership team assume control at the RNC and spearhead a unified effort to embrace the historic defection being witnessed within Black & Hispanic communities from the Democrat party and ensure it’s permanent.”

The campaign hired a national coalitions director last October. But the staffer, Derek Silver, left in March without explanation, according to two people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share internal discussions. Silver did not return multiple requests for comment. No replacement has been announced.

Trump’s advisers reject criticism that they are not doing enough organizing or spending to reach minorities. James Blair, the campaign’s political director, said the campaign would not “broadcast” its spending or staffing levels, “but I assure you, it’s enough to ensure President Trump’s historic surge in support amongst Black and Hispanic voters sticks in November and beyond.”

Patton said Trump’s political team is laying the groundwork for a robust minority outreach program, although largely in private.

“We are speaking with Black leaders, we are speaking with small-business owners, we’re speaking with famous athletes, hip-hop artists, some of whom I think you’d be surprised if you knew who was talking with us right now,” Patton said in an interview. “These are people who are expressing openness to supporting President Trump both publicly and privately.”

She said the campaign is weeks away from rolling out any specific programs. The delayed timeline stands in stark contrast to the early outreach during Trump’s 2020 reelection bid. He started his coalition efforts, including “Latinos for Trump” and “Black Voices for Trump” programs, in the summer and fall of 2019, respectively.

Trump’s team insists he will improve his standing with voters of color, perhaps the most steadfast segment of the Democratic base, regardless of the strategy. Advisers believe the campaign has momentum with both African Americans and Hispanics, especially younger men, and note that Trump has proved he can win in his own way, disregarding traditional rules of politics.

Polls show that many Black and Hispanic adults are dissatisfied with Biden. According to polls by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, Biden’s approval among Black adults has dropped from 94% when he started his term to 55% in March. Among Hispanic adults, it dropped from 70% to 32% in the same period.

An April poll by the Pew Research Center confirms the problem is especially acute among younger adults. In this poll, 43% of Black adults under age 50 said they approve of Biden, compared with 70% of those age 50 and older. Among Hispanics, 29% of younger adults said they approve, slightly less than the 42% who said that among those 50 and older.

The Trump campaign’s developing outreach strategy relies on using his celebrity and bombastic personality to create viral moments in communities of color that his advisers believe will have more impact than grassroots organizing or paid advertising alone. Advisers point to Trump’s appearances at an Atlanta Chick-fil-A , a New York bodega and a New York City police officer’s wake as examples of the strategy.

His allies argue that increased frustration about crime, inflation and immigration may win over some voters of color who have previously been less receptive to Trump’s record and divisive rhetoric.

“Communities of color aren’t leaning toward the right, they’re leaning toward Trump,” said Scott, the pastor and close Trump ally who is calling on the RNC to ramp up and reform its efforts. Scott said Black voters support Democrats because of the party’s longtime outreach to the community, which the GOP has not matched, and said the 2024 election presents an opportunity that the party shouldn’t waste. “Trump is the draw; Trump is the magnet.”

Biden has been spending millions of dollars on ads targeting Black and Latino voters in key states. That’s in addition to dozens of new office openings in minority neighborhoods. All the while, Biden’s team has frequently sent out Vice President Kamala Harris, the nation’s first Black female vice president, and other prominent leaders of color.

The Democratic president’s campaign points to record-low minority unemployment rates and education policies such as funding for historically Black colleges and universities and student loan forgiveness, as well as Biden’s stance on civil rights policy.

“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans proudly admitting that they have no real strategy to reach Black voters because they believe all they need is rap concerts and free chicken is only surprising if you haven’t paid attention to Trump’s fraudulent relationship to Black America for years,” said Jasmine Harris, the Biden campaign’s director of Black media, who described Trump as “a fraud” who “takes every opportunity available to him to demean our community.”

After the publication of this story, Patton responded to the critiques from the Biden campaign.

“No one is proudly admitting a ‘non-plan’ plan. That is simply desperate deflection from a deep blue party hemorrhaging Black and brown voters due to destructive immigration policies and billions in foreign aid that continues to put minority Americans last,” Patton said. “To the contrary, we are rolling out the largest, most comprehensive and strategic coalitions effort the Republican Party has ever undertaken and have detailed that plan to top surrogates, grassroots allies and even media outlets to great reception.”

Trump’s personal legal troubles may also be complicating his plans.

Campaign officials believe they should wait to come out with new initiatives until the conclusion of Trump’s New York criminal hush money trial, which is expected to extend deep into May, if not longer.

In the meantime, there are visible signs of a lack of investment in swing states. AP reporters visited the sites of several former community outreach centers that have now been shuttered.

In Allentown, Pennsylvania, the GOP vacated its Hispanic outreach office in January 2023, a few months after the midterm election, according to the landlord, Hem Vaidya. He said the office, which he recalled as a busy place, was staffed by Hispanic workers.

Republican officials recently approached him about renting the same space again, but he declined because they only wanted it for eight months. The storefront is now occupied by his own check-cashing business.

In Wisconsin, the RNC closed a Hispanic outreach center in Milwaukee after the 2022 midterms and it will soon be home to an ice cream shop, according to Daniel Walsh, leasing agent for the property.

Matt Fisher, a spokesman for the Wisconsin Republican Party, said the state GOP continues to operate a Black outreach center in Milwaukee. As for targeting Hispanic voters, the state party and RNC are still weighing how to approach that task.

In suburban Atlanta, one RNC community outreach center focused on outreach to Asian American voters was shuttered and later was reopened as a sex shop. AP reporters confirmed the venue’s change in ownership, which was originally reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Republican strategist Alice Stewart, a veteran of several GOP campaigns, said she is confident the Trump campaign will ultimately do what is necessary.

“But the key is they can’t just talk about minority outreach,” she said. “They have to do it.”
