There is plenty of space for family time in the 20 sq m standard cabins with a balcony and the generous 28 sq m family cabins for up to five people. The A-ROSA Kids Club has its own dedicated rooms on board. Many outdoor and dining areas invite the passengers to enjoy watching the landscape passing by. Parents can take a dip in the 23 sq m pool and kids will love their separate children’s pool on deck. The spacious spa and wellness area provides nothing but relaxation. There are also a variety of leisure activities on board.

Family vacation on the A-ROSA SENA

The A-ROSA SENA is a true paradise for families. There is room for up to five people in the spacious family cabins – with plenty of storage space, maritime bunk beds and two bathrooms. Right next door is the Kids Club, which is open at any time and offers a diverse entertainment program for kids and teens.

Sustainable Measures Onboard A-ROSA SENA

In June 2022 A-ROSA’s newest fleet member, A-ROSA SENA, entered service on the Rhine. The truly unique E-Motion Ship features a hybrid propulsion system, which means it has both diesel and electric engines. A large battery enables the so-called peak shaving and temporarily purely electric driving. This allows A-ROSA SENA to dock in ports almost silently and without producing local emissions.

A-Rosa expands excursion programme for 2022 

Guests can choose from hundreds of excursions across six categories.

A-Rosa River Cruises has added more than 120 options to its shore excursion programme for the 2022 season. 

The line now features more than 500 choices for guests, in six different categories. A new Exclusive Tours category has been created for 2022, featuring more than 90 individual or private excursions with personal chauffeurs and tour guides. 

These additions sit alongside A-Rosa’s existing tour categories – Bike, Discovery, Adventure, Family and Gourmet, which have also all been expanded for 2022. Guests can add optional excursions either before departure or once on board. 

Commenting on the new excursion programme, UK and Ireland managing director Lucia Rowe said: “We know that holidaying now is all about making memories with loved ones, and our new excursion programme is packed full of incredible experiences to suit all types of guests. We’ve worked hard to offer more variety than ever before and I am sure guests will be surprised by some of the amazing things you can do whilst on a river cruise.”

About A-ROSA

A-ROSA has been offering river cruises on a first-class level with a "modern" finish for 15 years. The cruise line welcomes you in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with spacious and bright cabins and with varied and fresh cuisine. The casual atmosphere is emphasised by the fact that no particular dress-codes or seating times are expected . Various activities and wellness on board as well as interesting country programs complete the range at A-ROSA.

The A-ROSA Alva was built in 2018 in the Neptun shipyard in Rostock (Germany) and has 63 outside staterooms. In 2019 she started her first trip on the Douro. 126 guests can be accommodated on 4 passenger decks. The crew of the A-ROSA Alva is very friendly and will do everything to make you feel welcome on board.

A-ROSA Alva staterooms

Almost all staterooms on the A-ROSA Alva are outside staterooms. The staterooms on deck 1 (category S and A) have small windows and are approx. 12 sqm in size. On decks 2 and 3, the staterooms (category C and D, approx. 13 sqm) have a lowerable panoramic window that can be used to create a French balcony. Also on deck 3 are the suites (category F, about 29 sqm), which include an extra-large balcony. In the staterooms on deck 1 and 2 there are two beds that are put together to form a double bed. All staterooms are equipped with a full bathroom with hairdryer, a TV, sn air conditioning, telephone and safe. On the second and third deck, some of the staterooms also have a chair and a small table. On each deck there are two staterooms with connecting doors that can also be used as family staterooms. The balcony suite also has seating areas, daylight bathroom, a walk-in closet and other included services such as a butler service. 

Atmosphere on board of A-ROSA Alva

On the ships of A-ROSA you feel like you are in a very good hotel: the furnishing is modern and elegant. Bright colors, large panoramic windows and a spacious salon create a lot of space so that you can relax, enjoy and experience a lot on your vacation. The guests are often a little younger than on river cruises from other providers. During the holidays, families also like to travel with A-ROSA every now and then. The dress code is sporty and elegant and you can dress in a way you are comfortable with. Guests pay their bills in Euro. 

A-ROSA Alva restaurant

The "market restaurant" offers open table times and large buffets. This means that you can eat flexibly within the opening times, when you want and with whom you want. There are no reserved tables. The buffet offers varied dishes with lots of fresh, regional products. At some stations, meals are freshly prepared for you live in the form of show cooking. Mineral water is included with meals. Coffee and tea are free in the afternoons; Coffee specialties are to be paid for.

Entertainment, sports & relaxation

The cosy lounge on deck 3 offers a beautiful view; Here you can order from an extensive bar menu (not included in the tour price) and just let your mind wander while enjoying the view. A-ROSA offers a varied daily program. You can find all the important information on this in the A-ROSA Journal, which you will find it on your stateroom door the evening before. Lovers of peace and quiet don't miss out here either: through the large windows of the A-ROSA Alva, you can see the landscape go by while you are in the sauna. There is also some modern fitness equipment. A cosy relaxation area invites you to relax between the sauna sessions. There are also two very nice rooms for massage/wellness treatments with a view outside (treatments for a fee). There is also a whirlpool on the sun deck, which invites you to relax. For the more active, the ship has a mini golf course on the sundeck.

A-ROSA Alva shore excursions

A-ROSA has drawn up an extensive land program. Basically, A-ROSA offers you four categories of excursions: adventure tours, discovery tours, bike tours and pleasure tours. You can book all excursions on board. There are mostly sightseeing trips, trips to castles, wineries and other sights in the area. Boat trips or walks are also on the program. The tours are operated by local agencies.

“My life has gone between bolero and salsa, and I say it in that order because the first thing I started singing was bolero,” he remembered. “I started singing bolero because I suffered a very strong love disappointment… at the age of 6,” Santa Rosa continued, making the audience burst in laughter.

With the idea of winning over a girl, he said, the singer teamed up with a buddy who also sang and played the guitar.

“I thought, ‘When I start singing, that girl is going to go crazy for me’. Well, guess what? I went out to sing on the first school program that I could, and the girl didn’t even look at me. But she gave me a profession, and thanks to that, you and us we are here tonight.”

On his third occasion at the Radio City Music Hall, this time as part of his Auténtico Tour , Santa Rosa recalled his long history with New York City, where he began playing as a teenager in the 1980s at the Corso nightclub as part of Willie Rosario’s orchestra, and where he recorded his iconic 1995 live album En Vivo Desde El Carnegie Hall .

“Tonight we come to give you everything here at Radio City Music Hall, which is an iconic place in New York City and the United States,” he said with a smile. “This is our third time on this stage and we are happy about that.”

The orchestra, whose talent was matched by their grace and elegance, includes veteran musicians such as musical director and trombonist Georgie Torres, pianist Luis Marín, bongo player Rafael Echeverría, backup singer Gino Ramírez and trumpeter Rebeca Zambrana, many of whom have been playing with Santa Rosa for decades. They all spread their enthusiasm with amusing choreographies, and Santa Rosa took the time to introduce each one of them with great affection and admiration.

With an uninterrupted and successful decades-long career, Gilberto Santa Rosa continues to be one of the undisputed references of salsa. His Auténtico Tour began last year in Puerto Rico and arrived in South America in February. His U.S. stint continues next week in Charlotte, N.C., and also includes stops in cities such as El Paso, Houston, and Dallas, before moving on to Europe. (For a full list of dates, click here ).
