Persona 5 strikers: how to find (& defeat) every dire shadow.
Dire Shadows, a darkness pointed out by the Oracle within Persona 5 Strikers. Here is where they are and how to beat all eight of them.
There are many strange and interesting enemies throughout Persona 5 Strikers including the Dire Shadows. There are eight of these in total, spread across the Jails within the world. Each of the eight is aggressive and must be fought, but first players will need to be able to find them.

Each of the five once found will have certain weaknesses and affinities attributed to them. The eight are named the Dark Sun, the Harlot of Desire, the Killer Teddy Bear, the Snake King, the Sun's Emissary, the Wandering Reviver, and the War-Hungry Horseman. They are spread between the Jail of the Abyss, Okinawa Jail, Osaka Jail, Sapporo Jail, Sendai Jail, and Shibuya Jail.
The Locations of the 8 Dire Shadows in Persona 5 Strikers
The Dark Sun is located within the Jail of the Abyss near the Path to the Abyss. He appears as a strange half-man half-orb after being hit. Much like other enemies throughout the game, players will need to facilitate the fight by starting it. Once started the character will change into their true form as well. Luckily, once the player is close enough their team members will let them know what is standing in front of them.
The Dark Sun is weak to Ice , Bless , and Curse attacks. He is also strong against Psy , and Nuclear damage. Players who want to take the Dark Sun on should avoid taking Noir and Queen with them. Instead, make sure to bring along Fox and Sophie, along with anyone else that fits within this dynamic.
Harlot of Desire
The Harlot of Desire is located inside the Sapporo Jail, near the Clockwork checkpoint. She'll be standing at the center of a four-way stop intersection. Once hit, she'll appear as a tall woman with a snake coiled around her body.
The Harlot of Desire is weak to Psy, Nuclear, Bless , and Curse damage. They have an affinity for Fire, Ice, Electric , and Wind . Players should consider taking Noir, Queen, and Sophie within their party. However, they should avoid bringing Panther, Fox, Skull, and Mona, due to their attacks not being very effective against the Harlot.
Killer Teddy Bear
The Killer Teddy Bear is located near the Bunkamachi West checkpoint within the Shibuya Jail. This large black teddy bear is much more than he lets on to the passing children. The Killer Teddy Bear is weak to Electric , Wind , and Curse . He also has an affinity for Psy and Nuclear. With this in mind, the player should avoid bringing Noir or Queen with them, and instead make sure to take Skull and Mona.
The Snake King is located within the Sendai Jail near the West Garden checkpoint. This tall dark naga looks quite a bit thinner than the original wide form he takes in the courtyard. The Snake King is weak to Fire, Ice, and Bless . While he has an affinity for Electric and Wind . Due to this Sophie, Panther, and Fox would be good companions to take along the ride. Just make sure to leave behind Skull and Mona.
Sun's Emissary
The Sun's Emissary can be found in the Kyoto Jail by the Fox Couple checkpoint. This large black raven looks very different from the original drone that it was disguised as. The Sun's Emissary is weak to Fire, Ice, and Nuclear. However, he has an affinity for Electric and Wind. This means that players should avoid taking Skull and Mona. Bringing Panther, Fox, and Queen instead.
Wandering Reviver
The Wandering Reviver is within the Okinawa Jail at the Northern Lab checkpoint. This cloaked woman stands in a room full of cargo and shipping containers. She is weak to Fire, Electric, and Wind. While she has an affinity for Bless and Curse. Players should consider taking Panther, Skull, and Mona as they will work the best against the Wandering Reviver. They should also avoid bringing Sophie.
War-Hungry Horseman
The War-Hungry Horseman is in the Osaka Jail near the Mt. Chashiro checkpoint. Changing from a strange robotic dog to a full horseman and horse riding on the rooftop. He is weak to Electric, Bless, and Curse. He has an affinity for Fire and Ice. This makes bringing Skull and Sophie essential. Players should also make sure not to bring either Panther or Fox.
As with every fight, players should prepare for each one appropriately. Focus on bringing lots of medicine, both for restoring HP and SP . Players may even want to grab a few revive and status curing items as well. As each enemy has different weaknesses and strengths players should also grab personas for the Joker that focus on attacking their weakest points and bolstering against their strongest.
Once players defeat their first Dire Shadow they will earn the Who Dares Win trophy. After defeating all eight, they will gain The Most Daring of Them All trophy. Remember that Dire Shadows are separate entities from the Powerful Shadows, and there won't be requests to have them defeated in the first place.

Persona 5 Strikers: Every Dire Shadow Location And How To Defeat Them
Here's a guide on how to find and defeat all of Persona 5 Striker's Dire Shadows — some of the hardest mini-bosses the game has to offer.
Quick Links
Shibuya jail dire shadow — killer teddybear, sendai jail dire shadow — snake king, sapporo jail dire shadow — harlot of desire, okinawa jail dire shadow — wandering reviver, kyoto jail dire shadow — sun's emissary, osaka jail dire shadow — war-hungry horseman, jail of the abyss dire shadow — dark sun, tree of knowledge dire shadow — heavenly punisher.
Persona 5 Strikers offers a variety of optional bosses and some of the hardest to defeat in the game are known as Dire Shadows. You'll be introduced to Dire Shadows on your first visit to Sendai Jail, where Oracle will point one out to you. However, you won't be able to tackle it at this point. These tough enemies should only be fought at the end of the game when your party is suitably leveled.

Dire Shadows should not be confused with the Powerful Shadows that feature in requests , as Dire Shadows are strong enemies that appear in Jails without any request. Defeating your first Dire Shadow will earn you the "Who Dares Wins" trophy, and defeating all Dire Shadows earns you the "The Most Daring of All" trophy. Whenever you go near one, Oracle will warn you of its presence, and they also feature tell-tale electricity on their bodies. For all the information you need on where to find these Dire Shadows and how to defeat them, we've got everything you need right here.
Updated January 5, 2022: We've revamped this guide to it more readable and have added more images so you know exactly where to find each Dire Shadow.
Travel to Shibuya Jail and head to the Bunkamachi West checkpoint , then move towards the location marked on the map above to find the Dire Shadow in Shibuya Jail. It takes the form of a normal humanoid guard shadow with a baton.
Affinities And Weaknesses:
Prepare your party before engaging the Dire Shadow — take Skull and Mona with you, but don't take Noir or Queen, as their elemental attacks won't help you out. Ensure that Joker has some decent Personas equipped that are Electric, Wind, or Curse-based.
At the start of the battle, be sure to buff your party members and try to debuff the Killer Teddybear if you can. This boss will mainly use Psy and Physical attacks, so just keep an eye on your party's health and heal up as necessary.
Use Baton Pass to switch between characters and charge your Show Time gauge a bit quicker so you can fire it off on each character as it becomes available. Make sure Joker has an Electric, Wind, or Curse-based Persona equipped when using Show Time with him.
Enter Sendai Jail and head to the West Garden checkpoint . This Dire Shadow is the first one you would have been introduced to during the main storyline. It can be found in the location marked on the map above. It takes the form of a large humanoid shadow with a bazooka.
Prepare your party beforehand. We recommend taking Sophie, Panther, and Fox , as they all have Personas with elements that the Snake King is weak to. Sophie can also double up as a dedicated healer. Don't take Skull or Mona. Ensure that Joker has some decent Personas equipped that are Fire, Ice, or Bless-based.
Make sure you buff your party and then cast some debuffs on the Snake King . This boss uses a lot of Electric moves and can inflict shock, so keep an eye on your party members for status ailments. As you have Fox casting Ice-based skills with you, if you manage to Freeze the Snake King, you should follow up with a Physical attack to get a Technical hit.
Make good use of Baton Pass to charge your Show Time gauge a bit quicker and use this special move whenever you can. Make sure Joker has a Fire, Ice of Bless-based Persona equipped when using Show Time with him.

Head into Sapporo Jail, travel to the Sapporo Clocktower checkpoint, and then move towards the location marked on the map above to find the Dire Shadow. It takes the form of a humanoid soldier shadow with a gun.
Set up your party before beginning the battle. Noir, Queen, and Sophie are all good choices, as the Dire Shadow is weak to their Persona's elements, plus Sophie can double up as your dedicated healer. Don't take Panther, Fox, Skull, or Mona as their attacks won't be as effective. Ensure that Joker has some decent Personas equipped that are Psy, Nuclear, Bless, or Curse-based.
At the start of the battle, buff your party and then cast some debuffs on the Harlot of Desire . This boss has a lot of weaknesses, but she also has a lot of strengths too. Watch out for her elemental attacks as they can inflict various status ailments. Having Noir in your party is helpful as she has Amrita Drop.
There are lamp posts that you can use for Phantom Dash attacks should the boss be close enough, so use these whenever you are able to. Don't forget to use Baton Pass so you can make the most of Show Time on all your characters. Ensure that Joker has Psy, Nuclear, Bless, or Curse-based Persona equipped when using Show Time with him.
In Okinawa Jail , go to the Lab: North checkpoint and towards the location shown on the map above to find the Dire Shadow. It takes the form of a humanoid soldier shadow with a machine gun.
Prepare your party before battle by taking characters that will deal the most amount of damage. Take Panther, Skull, and Mona with you , and Mona can also double up as your healer. Don't take Sophie. Take some Fire, Electric, and Wind-based Personas for Joker.
When the battle begins, buff your party and cast some debuffs on the Wandering Reviver. There is some scaffolding that you can drop on the boss as a Phantom Dash move to deal some extra damage, providing they are stood in the right place. If you manage to inflict a status ailment, follow up with a suitable attack to get a Technical hit if possible.
Use Baton Pass and utilize Show Time on all of your characters as soon as it becomes available. Ensure that Joker has a Fire, Electric, or Wind-based Persona equipped when using Show Time with him.

Enter Kyoto Jail, travel to the Fox Couple checkpoint, and then head west past the Daughter Fox shrine into the most western portal . In the next area, take the portal on your left that opened up when you prayed at the Fortune Shrine during the storyline. This will take you directly to the Mother Fox Shrine where the Dire Shadow is, which takes the form of a flying drone shadow.
Make sure you sort your party before taking this Dire Shadow on. Take Panther, Fox, and Queen with you. Panther and Queen have a few healing skills each, but make sure you take a healing Persona with Joker to be on the safe side. Don't take Skull or Mona as their attacks won't be effective. Make sure that Joker has a Fire, Ice, or Nuclear-based Persona with him.
Buff your party at the start of the battle, and throw some debuffs on the Sun's Emissary too, if possible. There are Fox Statues in the arena that you can use to perform Phantom Dash attacks from, so make the most of these. Watch out for status ailments such as shock, and heal up as needed.
Don't forget to utilize Baton Pass and use Show Time whenever possible, making sure that Joker has a Fire, Ice, or Nuclear-based Persona equipped when you use it with him .
Head into Osaka Jail, travel to the Mt. Chashiro checkpoint, and then move towards the location marked on the map above to find this Dire Shadow, which takes on the form of a large canine shadow.
Prep your party accordingly, so take Skull and Sophie with you and avoid using Panther or Fox . Sophie can double up as your healer, but you could always take Mona to fulfill this role too. Make sure Joker has some suitable Personas with him that are Electric, Bless, or Curse-based.
Buff your party as soon as the battle begins and throw a debuff or two at the War-Hungry Horseman . There are some Psycho-Energy orbs here that you can use for a Phantom Dash move, they are Psy-based, so they won't hit a weakness but they still count as some nice freebie damage. This boss will use Fire-based attacks, so watch out for the Burn status ailment, and heal your party as needed.
Make the most of Baton Pass and use Show Time whenever it's ready. Just ensure that Joker has an Electric, Bless, or Curse-based Persona equipped when you use it with him.

In the Jail of the Abyss , simply begin at the entrance and then move your way to the location marked on the map above. This Dire Shadow takes the form of a large humanoid shadow with a bazooka.
Set your party up to tackle this Dire Shadow's weaknesses. So, take Fox and Sophie with you for certain, but avoid taking Noir and Queen, as their attacks won't be effective. Make sure that Joker has an Ice, Bless, or Curse-based Persona with him.
Buff your party as soon as the battle starts and try and get in a couple of debuffs on the boss . There are some Phantom Dash items you can use in the battlefield area, such as poles that you can spin on, providing that Dark Sun is close enough to be hit. If you managed to Freeze the boss, follow up with a Physical attack to get a Technical hit. Dark Sun will mainly use Nuclear attacks, so keep an eye out for any status ailments that you need to cure.
Use Baton Pass to switch between your characters, which will cause the Show Time gauge to charge a bit quicker too. Make sure Joker has an Ice, Bless, or Curse-based Persona equipped when using Show Time with him.
Enter the Tree of Knowledge and travel to the Path of Yearning checkpoint. This Dire Shadow can be found right next to the checkpoint and it takes the form of a large humanoid shadow with a gun.
This is the very last Dire Shadow! Prepare your party for battle — it's best to take Mona, Noir, and Queen with you . However, don't take Sophie as her elemental attacks won't be effective. Mona can also double as your healer, but make sure Joker has a Persona capable of healing with him too. Joker should also have Wind, Psy, and a Nuclear-based Persona with him.
Make sure you buff your party at the start of the battle, and try and land some debuffs on the boss too. Most importantly, the Heavenly Punisher can cast Hama, which poses a threat as there's a chance it'll be instant death to whoever it hits. Try and avoid this attack whenever you see it coming. This boss also uses a lot of really heavy-hitting physical attacks, so you need to really watch your party's health here and make sure you revive characters as soon as they die. Make sure you are avoiding as many of its attacks as possible.
Don't forget to use Baton Pass to switch between your characters and use Show Time whenever possible. Make sure Joker has a Wind, Psy, or Nuclear-based Persona equipped when using Show Time with him.

Guide on How to Defeat all Dire Shadows in Persona 5 Strikers
Dire Shadows are powerful Personas encountered in Persona 5 Strikers (or Persona 5 Scramble) . Unlike normal shadows, these enemy shadows are way over-leveled for your party to defeat immediately. Best Personas to Fuse
In New Game Plus, these Dire Shadows will respawn when you play the game in Risky or Merciless difficulty.

Not sure if it’s a merciless thing but the rewards I’m getting are different then those that are listed. Each dire shadow has been giving me weapons for allies in order of character (Ryuji, Morgana, Ann, Yusuke, etc;) pretty sure they give the best weapons for each corresponding character.
they are, actually. The merciless painful pasts also give special weapons
Archangel can be fought on 8/28, before the game has ended BTW
Already corrected. Thanks!
If you fight them again you can also get an accessory that nullifies an affinity, good for covering weaknesses.
I cannot find archangel where he spawns on 8/28. Am I missing something?
either you fought him earlier or youre looking in the wrong area? enter the jail and teleport to the path of yearning. the shadow should be on your right as soon as you spawn. i just checked right now and thats what i see
Do these dudes respawn? I used Mona in my party, but now he dies off a ton, and I wanna use Wolf, but I gotta grind him now.
They only respawn on merciless which is ng+ exclusive
Thanks for this information, Jordan. Already added this to the guide.
