‘Tour of a Lifetime’ There are not enough superlatives to describe how superb our tour was with Kevin via Go Tours. I can declaratively say it was the very best trip of my life. I highly recommend this company without hesitation. Tracy, Cornwall Tour
‘Blooms, Brew and Brilliant Glenn’ Calling all flower lovers, tea lovers, history lovers & anyone who wants a day of beauty away from the bustle of London. The Cotswolds is your Xanadu, and GO-Tours your comfortable, air-conditioned chariot…I would rebook with GO-Tours for another adventure with Glenn even if it were just a tour of the local Sainsbury’s. Heather, Cotswolds Tour
‘A very pleasant tour of Wales’ We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Wales with Steve as our driver and guide. He was assiduous in his attending to the individual needs of our small group which made for a relaxed and friendly experience….We would unreservedly recommend this tour. David, Wales Tour
‘Excellent, Excellent, Excellent’ This trip exceeded our expectations in every way. We’ve toured by motor coach before, but this was a whole new (fun) dimension…I have nothing but praise for this little tour company. They work their butts off to give you a first-rate experience. United kingdom.
Regal. Charming. Scenic.
Comprised of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, the United Kingdom definitely has dozens of reasons worth leaving home for. Mountains, valleys, hills and dales, forests and gardens, oh and no less than 25 UNESCO World Heritage sites scattered throughout, are but a few. You will find a slew of cathedrals, castles, palaces and country houses spanning history. Centuries of inspiring the world, influencing the arts, and forming natural beauty have developed this land into one great nation.
Destination Must-See's
A world in a city is a common way to describe the metropolis of London, the capital of England. A cultural melting pot of over 230 nationalities, London is the financial, political and cultural capital of the UK. It is booming with activity and bursting with sightseeing treasures. You’ll find historic highlights from the haunting Tower of London to the ornate Buckingham Palace and more modern attractions such as the world-famous Harrods department store and the towering London Eye.
The capital city and second most populous in Scotland, Edinburgh has been recognized for its historic and cultural attractions. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK after London. Great shopping, historic architecture and great Scottish whisky are just part of its allure. Its greatest draw is Edinburgh Castle. This sprawling medieval castle and fortress sits atop Castle Rock in the city center, dominating Edinburgh’s skyline.
Giant’s Causeway:
At the foot of the basalt cliffs on the coast of Northern Ireland’s County of Antrim lies the stunning Giant’s Causeway. Travelers flock to this UNESCO World Heritage site to experience the 40,000 massive dark columns rising from the sea. The natural phenomena has sparked legends of giants and magic, but its unique geology points to volcanic activity from over 50 million years ago. The Giant’s Causeway is a beautiful sight and the experience of a lifetime.
Cornwall, a region located on a peninsula in southwest England, is comprised of many different towns and villages that feature beautiful beaches and picturesque coastlines. Bordered by the Celtic Sea and the English Channel, one of its most popular towns is St. Ives. This seaside port town just north of Penzance on the coast of the Celtic Sea is known as the art center of West Cornwall and has a sub-tropical feel and beautiful beaches.
Destination Must-Do's
England’s Lake District:
Lose yourself in the natural beauty of this mountainous region in northwest England dotted with tranquil lakes. One of the picturesque villages in the region is Grasmere, once home of and inspiration to the romantic poet William Wordsworth. Perhaps you will take a sail on one of the lakes and take in the peaceful backdrop of lush green mountains, serene shorelines and pristine calm waters dotted with tiny islands.
Stonehenge:
Walk in the footsteps of so many before you when visiting prehistoric Stonehenge. This mysterious rock formation dates back to the Stone Age and remains one of the world’s most famous sites. Standing in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, Stonehenge is perhaps the most important prehistoric monument in England. The experience of seeing this timeless monument is not to be missed – it will surely be a highlight of your visit.
This large, deep freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands extends approximately 23 miles southwest of the city of Inverness. Loch Ness is best known for the alleged sightings of the Loch Ness monster. While Loch Ness is not the largest Scottish loch by surface area, it is the largest by volume, with its deepest point at 755 feet. Along the shore, you will find the ruins of Urquhart Castle. This once mighty site rests on the headwaters of Loch Ness and dates back as far as the 13th century.
Prepare to step back in time in the English countryside. The Cotswolds are roughly 25 miles across and 90 miles long, stretching from Stratford-upon-Avon to Bath. The region is known for its small towns and villages with homes made from golden colored Cotswold stone and grass roofs that sit among lush greenery and rolling hills. Stratford-upon-Avon is perhaps its most famous town. Lying along the River Avon, it’s famed for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare, one of the world’s great playwrights. Be sure to make a trip to see the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
Expert Advice
Think “go to the right.” It is their natural flow of traffic even when it comes to walking. It is important to not only look both ways when crossing the street, but also when on an escalator, stand to the right. When walking down the street, stay alert and follow the flow – to the right.
Expect to be offered tea, a lot. The British love their tea and not only during afternoon tea, any time for any reason. But you should know there is a “proper” way to drink it. The rules are – sit up straight, do not blow on it, take small sips with your pinky down, and put the cup on the saucer between sips. Now you are prepared to sip away.
Bring a raincoat and umbrella, as it rains one out of three days in the UK. It does vary from region to region, but generally speaking, they are important items to have on hand at all times.

Essential Britain & Ireland
I’ve just returned from this fabulous tour! I highly recommend it. We had the greatest tour guide and bus driver. The itinerary was fascinating . You read about the itinerary before you go, but the reality of the itinerary far exceeded my expectation! We were blessed with great weather, too. We only had misty rain on two of the 10 days. I would probably change one of the hotels and one if the meals, but of those were fine. Others were just better! The excursions were great. I went on four out six of them. Did our own thing the last night in London. The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge was my favorite hotel and it was strategically located!
England, Scotland and Ireland end Dublin
Our tour was London, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, Liverpool, London. This was a bi-lingual tour with emphasis on Spanish - we are bi-lingual so not that much of a bother but non-Spanish speaking tourists would likely not enjoy this aspect. The English of the guides varied widely with the London guide Richard being beautifully fluent and knowledgeable in both languages. It's important to understand you will have multiple guides. We walked an average of 7 miles a day and covered nearly 1,500 miles by luxury coach. This kind of travel can be exhausting if you are not prepared. The first two days the buses arrived 2 hours late due to the Rail Strike in London. Now for the upside: The tour guides were great and kept everything on-task. They knew the areas pretty well and they were accommodating despite their challenged English. The hotels were way better than expected and included excellent breakfasts with lots of options - I would say 3.5 to 4.0 stars. Yes UK hotels can be quirky - like you might not have a huge bed and the shower faucet make take some time to figure out but they were excellently located. I cannot say enough about the general courtesy and service of the UK citizens - they generally put the USA to shame. From servers to museum guides everyone seemed genuinely happy to be working and accommodating of tourists. The food everywhere we went was great and well priced -- more affordable than expected. Still hard to find Coke on ice though! haha. The tour itself was comprehensive and the stops were breathtaking. The two ferry trips were a blast -- these are really mini-cruise ships. We came home exhausted but completely satisfied. We saw attractions we would have never seen like Alnwick and Caerfornan castles on our own that were incredible. Being able to stop in Liverpool was a real highlight and we paid on our own to do the Beatles sites and it was well worth it. (So was the Beatles museum). We would likely use Europamundo again, even if it was bi-lingual because they were so efficient and a great value.
Britain and Ireland Delight (Summer, 8 Days)
I really enjoyed the trip
Britain and Ireland Experience (12 Days)
Greg made this a wonderful experience. He is one of the most organised, & factually correct guides we could have hoped for. He had the ideal personality for this job, as everyone felt included and equally shared his time with every person on the trip. I was travelling alone and was not sure of how this would affect my experience. Greg made sure that everyone got the chance to sit with new people, which made the "getting to know you" so much easier. I believe that Greg hast he skills to go far in this industry and I sincerely hope that I will encounter him on a trip in The future. He took the time st the end of our trip to say a fond farewell over some drinks. Coming home from our Scottish entertainment is a memory I will never forget. Man we had some fun on this trip & it was all because of Greg.

Grand Tour of Britain & Ireland
Absolutely loved that I could enjoy this tour which provided great coverage of England, Wales,Ireland and Scotland. The driver was fantastic. The guide provided wonderful history of the places but would have liked a bit more information as we passed places of interest.
Britain & Ireland Explorer (Classic, 13 Days)
We had a great holiday and highly recommend insight tours . We had lovely hotels and a fantastic tour guide who was very knowledgeable with places and the history.
Best of Britain (11 Days)

The Best of Britain & Ireland
Met some lovely people and saw some amazing sights. Tour guide "Tom" was informative and coach driver "Clive" was great to all. Highly recommend going on this tour.
Britain & Ireland Discovery (Classic, 22 Days)
Greg was one of the best guides we’ve experienced on tours we have taken. This was our first Insight tour and very pleased with his expertise!
Great Britain
The tour was excellent, the tour guide was great. My only concern was some added activities had an added cost. But when we got on the tour, they could only be paid with cash, not a credit card etc. you could not get cash with a credit card unless the credit card had a PIN. US credit cards usually don’t have PINs. The tour had no way to have us pay for the extras if we did not have cash or a card with a PIN.
Highland Fling
Tour was great overall! Alistair and Karis were great guides. One critique we would make: at certain points of the tour, Alistair mentioned: "outdoor style tours" (hiking trails, camping, etc). While we have no issue with these types of tours, the majority of our tour consisted of people over the age of 60 (possibly not the "ideal market" for those kinds of tours). When we booked the tour, we were unaware there was an option to book a hotel instead of staying in a hostel; my dad and I were both uncomfortable staying in a hostel room with women. After 2 nights in a hostel during the tour, we booked a room at a separate hotel.
- €75 deposit on some dates Some departure dates offer you the chance to book this tour with a lower deposit.
Celtic Highlights
Excellent guides and wonderful sites to visit! They know where to go and what to see!
What people love about UK And Great Britain Tours
Very nice itinerary ... jam packed days and evenings. I chose not to do any of the extra evening excursions that were offered so I was able to use the time to explore every overnight stop on my own. The tour guide was amazing... so full of knowledge about all the countries/areas we visited.
Guides were great and the tour was an excellent way to see lots of places in a short amount of time

Our Favourite Experiences
Belmond Safaris, Botswana
Botswana is high on our list for safari destinations given its abundance of wildlife, its varied environments; think wetlands, forested islands and dry savannah as well as a variety of safari options both on land as well as on the water.
We think Belmond have really cracked it with a portfolio of three unique safari LODGES, each with their own personality and character, dotted through the Okavango Delta, the Moremi Wildlife Reserve and the Chobe National Park.
Getting to any of the lodges is a breeze, connecting to Maun through Johannesburg, the lodges each have their own private airstrip. All three have a huge variety of activities on offer that enhance and go beyond the standard safari experience. From helicopter, horseback and canoe safaris to safaris by moonlight or on foot. Within the lodges you can look forward to incredible meals and beverages with coffee and a light breakfast before heading out on morning game drives followed by full breakfast and al fresco lunch overlooking the bush. Dinner is an epicurean affair with wonderful local and international fare paired with delicious South African wines.
As you’d expect the levels of service are exceptional across the lodges with guides always on hand to identify game passing the lodge. Let’s take a look at each of them.
Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge – As the name suggests, elephants abound around the lodge that features just 12 bedrooms raised up on wooden platforms, all with expansive decks. Rooms feature four poster beds, easy chairs, dressing rooms and a full bathroom. Be sure to enjoy a private boma (BBQ) and a dip in the pool overlooking the bush.
Belmond Eagle Island lodge – Having undergone a full refurbishment in 2016, the LODGE has reopened with spectacular luxury tented rooms complemented with private plunge pools and outdoor showers. The lodge is set on a private island amongst the ever-changing channels, tributaries and lagoons of the Okavango Delta. It’s an ideal base for water based activities as well as helicopter safaris to give an eagle eye view of the wetland landscape and its inhabitants
Belmond Khwai River Lodge – in the heart of the Moremi Reserve, the lodge’s decor harks back to the golden days of safari, with thatched rooms, claw footed copper framed baths and private wooden decks overlooking the reserve. There’s a wonderful swimming pool and for those in need of a little TLC it’s even possible to have a spa treatment on your deck
Belmond Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons
Nestled in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside Belmond Le Manoir as it is often known, is a bastion of culinary excellence boasting not only a two Michelin star restaurant by the eponymous Raymond Blanc but also a culinary school and expansive organic gardens.
Opened in 1984, the hotel is quintessentially British and is set in stunning landscaped gardens with a wonderful croquet lawn. The 32 rooms and suites are individually designed and are all inspired by Raymond Blanc’s travels and include, amongst our favourites Le Chinoiserie, a deluxe abode that has recently been totally transformed into an Oriental boudoir. Featuring hand painted silk wall paper and even its own private garden terrace it’s a true juxtaposition to Le Manoir’s inherent Britishness. Equally impressive is L’Orangerie, a beautiful one bedroom suite reminiscent of a French Chateau with a heated stone floor and its own private entrance perfect for a romantic getaway.
The hotel’s famous restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner and offers a plethora of dining experiences with tasting menus and wine pairings changing regularly depending on seasonality.
Belmond Le Manoir has also curated a luxury events calendar with happenings throughout the year ranging from lunch with Raymond Blanc to music festivals, wine tastings and carol services at Christmas time.
The hotel is just 30 minutes from Heathrow and 40 minutes from London’s Marylebone station so ideal for a weekend break or for a first stop on a UK itinerary.
Belmond Jimbaran Puri
The island of Bali is no doubt a popular Indonesian hot spot however few hotels integrate local culture with refined luxury as well as Belmond Jimbaran Puri. Located on the crescent of Jimbaran Bay, the hotel is ideally placed for exploring southern Bali with temples and markets all within easy reach as well as the bustling restaurants and bars of Seminyak and Legian.
Set amongst palm groves and mature gardens, the hotel gives way effortlessly to the beach with a huge swimming pool and beachfront restaurant just steps from the soft sand. Of course for those interested in surfing or learning to surf there are fantastic opportunities right in front of the hotel or just a short drive away at the famed Uluwatu.
The exclusive pool villas scattered amongst the gardens are split across two buildings with a private pool and indoor and outdoor bathroom and are the ideal spot for honeymooners or families who crave privacy. Be sure not to miss afternoon tea in your villa!
Whilst we would thoroughly recommend the Nelayan restaurant with their fine dining take on Indonesian favourites, a quick stroll along the beach brings you to rows of local eateries brimming with fresh seafood. Settle back with the sand between your toes, lobster and prawn platter on the table and watch the world go slowly by.
One of the favourite moments from our stay was arriving back at the hotel after dinner and relaxing on loungers on the beach, cocktail in hand surrounded by fire lanterns illuminating the gentle waves.
Belmond afloat in France
The French waterways in summertime are quite simply stunning. Meandering through sleepy medieval villages and flowering fields aboard your private luxury barge is one of life’s great experiences. Spend a week or more slowly making your way through the Languedoc, enjoying private wine tastings, exploring local markets or just relaxing beside your onboard swimming pool whilst a private chef and crew look after your every request. For the more active we’ll even set you up with bikes to explore the tow paths and villages dotted along the canals.
Belmond Hotel Monasterio
A converted 16 th Century monastery, the Belmond Monasterio is located in the very center of Cuzco, the heart of the ancient Incan Empire. The hotel is set around a peaceful courtyard laden with wild flowers and a 300 year old cedar tree. Few experiences are more special than having breakfast in its shade before a day exploring the city.
With rooms ranging from superior rooms to one bedroom suites, space and comfort are of particular emphasis at the Belmond Monasterio. All rooms are unique and individually designed combining luxury with antique artwork and dark wooden furniture. To ensure ultimate comfort for all clients, there is even the option to have supplementary oxygen piped into the room to combat any possible effects of the moderate altitude of Cusco and guarantee a brilliant nights sleep.
With two restaurants on site and a host of Peruvian eateries in close proximity, enjoy Andean cuisine at its finest either al fresco or in the fine dining Illary.
Step outside the hotels impressive front doors and you will find yourself just a few yards from Cuzco’s ancient Cathedral and ancient square. It truly is the ideal base (and bubble of luxury) from which to step out and learn about Incan life in the Andes.
And for those heading to Machu Picchu the train Belmond Hiram Bingham train will whisk you up the Sacred Valley, whilst you sip champagne and enjoy your brunch, to the foot of the ancient ruins.
An Indonesian Idyll
Just a 50 minute flight from Bali, the island of Sumba is a totally untouched oasis of pristine forests, deserted sandy beaches and crystal clear tropical waters. Nihi Sumba, winner of the ‘World’s best hotel’ 2017, boasts a selection of individually designed villas, each different in their layouts and location yet all exuding understated luxury. They seamlessly combine indoor and outdoor living and all offer your own swimming pool.
A stay at Nihi Sumba really is an experience in itself. There’s a huge selection of activities to suit all ages and interests
Perhaps Nihi Sumba’s most unique attribute is it’s access to a totally private surf break. This perfect wave can only be surfed by guests of the hotel and what’s more they will only allow 10 surfers per day to take on the fantastic break.
Another of our favourite experiences has to be the Spa safari where the day begins with a 90 minute walk through Sumba’s countryside passing through untouched local villages and verdant paddy fields. Arriving at the hotel’s spa outstation you are treated to beachfront breakfast followed by a full day of unlimited spa treatments, broken solely by refreshing dips in the sea.
Belmond Hotel Cipriani
Perhaps one of the most well-known hotels in Europe, Belmond Hotel Cipriani is adjacent to St Mark’s Square yet a world away from the crowds, situated on the private island of Guidecca just across the Grand Canal. A true oasis of tranquility the hotel provides understated sophistication with more than a touch of La Dolce Vita.
Rooms and suites are spacious, bedecked in Italian marbles and sumptuous fabrics. Most have either a terrace, balcony or private terrace overlooking the hotel’s manicured grounds, its mini-vineyard or the canals.
The stunning outdoor heated swimming pool is the centrepiece of the hotel, an ideal place to cool off during the hot summer months so be sure to schedule in some time to relax whilst in Venice. The hotel also hosts a plethora of activities including, amongst our favourites, exploring the canals by kayak or custom-made water-bikes. For the historians, here at Lux, we can organise privately guided tours of the city perhaps with a stop off along the way at the little visited island of Burano. And at the end of a long day exploring Venice, the hotel’s bar, make the best Vespa Martini and Bellinis around.
Of course it comes as no surprise that the restaurants and bars at Belmond Hotel Cipriani are of exceptional quality. It’s a special experience to enjoy your breakfast al fresco overlooking one of the world’s most famous waterways. Enjoy dinner at the hotel’s fine dining restaurant Oro, one of the finest restaurants in all of Venice and deservedly awarded a Michelin Star or perhaps if you fancy more casual fare, the over water Cip’s Club is relaxed yet elegant and the ideal spot for a long supper on a summer’s evening.
There are regular shuttles over to St Marks from the hotel’s private dock so you are never far away from the historic Palazzos, the canal side restaurants or a glass of Prosecco.
Belmond Napasai
On the unspoilt north coast of the Thai island of Koh Samui, Belmond Napasai is a beachfront oasis set amongst 17 acres of pristine gardens and palm groves. The hotel is a sanctuary with a stunning infinity pool built into the hillside, just a few steps from the private beach and crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Thailand.
With 45 standalone villas (all with private balconies and sea views) dotted across the gentle hillside and 14 one to four bedroom oceanfront residences, Belmond Napasai offers space and privacy in abundance. We simply adore the residences with their stunning infinity pools lapping the ocean’s edge, perfect for a private dinner or family get together.
There’s a multitude of activities for all ages; from cooking classes to the spa famed for its traditional Thai massages. For the more active, the beach is the starting point for a range of unique experiences including private boat excursions to the surrounding islands and coastline or snorkelling and scuba diving in the aqua marine waters. And for a true Thai experience we’d thoroughly recommend an elephant safari.
Belmond Napasai also has a host of dining options at the fine dining Lai Thai and the toes-in-the-sand casual beach restaurant so no matter your mood you’ll always be able to enjoy the finest Thai fare.
Easily accessible, Belmond Napasai is a mere 25 minutes drive from Koh Samui airport and there’s plenty of opportunities to get out and explore all parts of the island including its pristine interior covered with jungle and rainforest that’s bursting with life.
Kiwi adventure
The unique Minaret Station is a spectacular luxury lodge set in the Southern Alps of New Zealand’s South Island accessible only by helicopter. We’ve gotten to know a couple of the resident guides so whether you’d prefer heli-skiing, fishing, jet boating or flying to a remote mountain top for a private gourmet lunch, we’ll ensure that every experience is tailored specifically to you. Of course we will leave you plenty of time to relax around the wonderful lodge and your private cabin (complete with its own hot tub of course) before enjoying a delicious dinner using only the best local produce.
Twenty minutes from the main island of Tahiti, the Brando is one of the most secluded yet luxurious hotels on earth. A perfect idyll made up of 12 deserted atolls, the Brando provides a sanctuary for a host of wildlife from hatching turtles to rays, coconut crabs and sea birds. With just 35 magnificent beach front villas each with their own infinity pool you are ensured total privacy. What’s more the food is of the highest caliber – Guy Martin, the two Michelin starred chef from Paris has his very own outpost on the island with a menu mirroring his flagship restaurant in Paris. By day kayak between the islands and explore the deserted atoll making sure to take a swim in the picture postcard ‘billionaires swimming pool’. It certainly doesn’t get much better than this.
Kasbah Tamadot
Just an hour outside Marrakesh in the tranquil foothills of the Atlas, Kasbah Tamadot feels more like a private home than a hotel. It’s the ideal place to gather the whole family or a group of friends to spend time together. Explore local Berber villages, ride camels along dried up river beds or simply relax by the stunning infinity pool. By night the roof Depending on the time of year we can also arrange a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the majestic peaks of the high Atlas.
North Island
A jewel in the Seychelles crown, North is as close to perfection as you are likely to get. With just 11 presidential villas scattered along a picture-perfect beach and an island teeming with giant tortoise, a visit to North is a must. Although you may never want to leave your expansive villa, explore the island with you own off road golf buggy, stop off at honeymoon beach – a private enclave that is reserved exclusively for one couple or family at a time. The culinary offering is out of this world with breakfast cooked freshly for you in your villa and a dining concept of eat anywhere, anytime and anything meaning that you will never be bound by a menu or time of day. Scuba diving is amongst the best in the word and the staff the friendliest and most hospitable that we have experienced anywhere.
Afloat in Cambodia
Exploring the remote lower reaches of the Mekong Delta offers an incredible insight into Cambodian and Vietnamese rural life that few outsiders have been privileged to experience. We have teamed up with Aqua Mekong, a luxurious cruiser with just 20 cabins to take you from Tonle Sap in southern Cambodia towards the bustling metropolis of Saigon in Vietnam all the while enjoying the finest Indochinese cuisine and privately curated shore excursions. Look forward to meeting teenage monks as they begin their journeys towards enlightenment, cycling along the shores of the gently meandering river and gaining a true insight into the culture of this remote part of South East Asia.

What Our Members Say About Us
The best way to show you why you should join our consortium is to show you what our members say about it. Here our just some of their opinions and to see more, visit our testimonials page.
Most important to us is the opportunity to “have our say”
"We have been members of Elite Travel Group for 20 years now and it is one of the best decisions we ever made. The commission levels help improve our bottom line and the social/training events are invaluable in both improving product knowledge and networking. Most important to us is the opportunity to “have our say” at members’ meetings and the fact that Elite leaves us the freedom to use the operators that best fit our business model. Elite is the perfect example of the best things coming in small packages!"
The levels of commission and benefits have far exceeded expectations
"On an annual basis, as part of managing the business whilst Kinver Travel Centre was a member of Independent Options, I compared commissions and benefits with other consortia, like you do an energy or telephone account. In November 2014, the decision to move to Elite was made, as commissions with Elite would improve the bottom line. Now we are in our second year as a member of Elite and have never looked back. The levels of commission and benefits have far exceeded expectations, whilst all the events and activities provide excellent net working opportunities. All helps to make Kinver Travel Centre a competitive profitable business: thank you Elite."
A pleasure and a honour to be a member.
"Big isn't always beautiful! Elite - great people, great consortium, a pleasure and a honour to be a member."

The local elections are set for Thursday, May 2, providing an opportunity for people across the nation to voice their opinions on local government. However, voting can seem intimidating to some, particularly with new roles introduced for this year's elections.
Moreover, the voting systems vary depending on the election you're participating in, so you might notice differences in your ballot paper for the local elections compared to the general elections.
To assist you in navigating through all the voting information available, we've put together a concise guide for anyone looking to participate in the elections.
Read more: Photo ID warning issued to voters with just hours to go until May 2 election deadline
When will the polling stations be open?
Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on May 2. The Electoral Commission has confirmed that if you're still queuing to vote when the polls officially close, you're guaranteed entry and the right to cast your vote.
Typically, polling stations are situated in public buildings such as schools, leisure centres, and churches. If you're uncertain about where to find your local polling station, you can get in touch with your local authority's election office.
Do I need to bring my ID to a polling station?
Yes, recent regulations have been implemented which require you to present a valid form of photo ID to vote at a polling station. Accepted forms of photo ID include:
- Passport issued by the UK, any Channel Island, the Isle of Man, a British Overseas Territory, an EEA state, or a Commonwealth country
- Driving licence or provisional driving licence issued by the UK, any Channel Island, the Isle of Man, or an EEA state
If your photo ID is out of date, it can still be used as a valid ID for voting as long as the picture still looks like you and has the same name you used to register to vote.
What happens when I arrive at the polling station?
When heading to your local polling station you will be provided with ballot papers with will have a list of all the candidates standing for election in your area on it. For a local election, you will have the option to choose as many candidates as there are seats available for your area which will vary in number.
What if I can't travel to a polling station?
If you are unable to or don't want to head to a polling station there is also the option to vote by post, but you must have applied for this in advance and it will be too late to do so now if you haven't already.
