Kids Cruise Activities — Ages 6 Months - 2 Years

Making our youngest voyagers feel right at home.

Princess welcomes babies, toddlers and preschoolers to the world of cruising with services and amenities that make life easier for their families as well. These young guests are welcome in Camp Discovery when accompanied by a parent. Mini-Suites and Full Suites offer full-sized bath tubs, and wash bins for showers are available. Staterooms with balconies are perfect for naptime. You can request high chairs, booster seats and cribs. We also provide complimentary jarred baby food. And fresh, pureed foods (fruits, veggies and rice) are available in the main dining room, specialty restaurants, and Horizon Court or World Fresh Marketplace.

Please note:  During voyages with a high number of families onboard, we will make all efforts to accommodate interested parties. However, participation in our program cannot be guaranteed. Hours of operation may change to better serve our guests.

Hours of Operation:  Sea days 9:00am to 12:00 pm | 1:00pm - 5:00pm | 6:00pm - 10:00pm. Port Days 8:00am - 5:00pm | 6:00pm - 10:00pm. Depending on the itinerary, port hours may be expanded. Check the schedule once onboard. The program is complimentary during port days and advanced bookings are not required.

Parents Night Out

Where kids can play while you're away.

Family cruises are all about connection, but “you time” is still an important part of your vacation experience. Rest assured, whether you've planned a day of exploring or a romantic night out, the group kidsitting at our Youth Centers offers your children between the ages of 3 and 12 plenty to look forward to. It's the perfect place for them to relax or play games with their friends. And the charge is just $5.00 USD per hour per child.

Dinner events exclusively for kids

Children and adults alike get the chance to enjoy dinner on their own with a variety of opportunities for kids to eat with their friends and Princess Youth Staff. They'll find kids-only dinners on select evenings, a teens-only dinner on a formal night in an exclusively reserved section of the dining room, as well as ice cream and pizza parties held throughout the voyage. Please be sure the Youth Staff members know about any food allergies your child may have.

Cruise Activities for Young Adults — Ages 18-20

Imagine a secret society. Only those invited can join. Guests ages 18-20 will learn the secret handshake and be granted a special code word to unlock an exclusive list of Club1820 events made just for them. No parents, no little siblings, no official hosts.

I am looking to plan a cruise for our family of 6 and have a few questions for you experienced cruisewrs with kids. We have four kids 11, 8, 4, and 2. I have read enough to learn that we need to book two connecting rooms but have some other general questions that I am hoping to find answers to before narrowing down our search.

Which cruise line is better for kids?

What ports are more kid friendly? Older 3 can swim butt not the 2yo. Don't want to have to travel by taxi obviously.

Have you found it is better to have an oceanview with kids or should we save money and go for inside? Do any balcony rooms have coonecting rooms or balconies?

How do they price for kids? When I pretend book a room for three (and multiply by 2) Is that an accurate price? Is there a kids price or is it the standard third person rate?

Any other tips/info that is important to know that I have probably not thought of yet?

Our work schedules allow is travel during nonpeak times, so that should help keep the costs down. Dh and I have cruised alone before and could get a past guest discount from Carnival. Thanks for any info. It is much appreciated!

Almost any of the "mainstream" lines will do nicely for a family. Disney, of course, is the king, but can be pricey. RCI and Carnival both have great kid's programs.

As far as ports...all are just as "kid-friendly" as another. It really depends on what you like to do onshore! Get a guidebook and read up on each port that you're thinking of visiting--it'll give you a better idea of what points of interest there are, how to get there, safety, food.....

If you book an excursion through the cruiseline, you won't have to worry about transportation--they'll take care of all that. But, if you just want to go to the beach or shop, that's almost always best done on your own. (That's where the guidebook comes in handy!!)

Some folks love interior room--no me! I want at least a balcony! There are "connecting" rooms with balconies--on some ships, you can get a balcony that connects to an interior (a good way to say a few bucks!) Not all ships allow the balcony divider to be removed, so while your room may have a connecting door, you'll still have 2 seperate balconies.

Some line charge full rates for kids, some discount them. Depends on the cruiseline!

Your best bet is to contact a travel agent (go to a real one in your town--not online) and talk to them. They can help you get the most for your money! And, you'll get borchures, deck plans....lots of stuff that you should have!

We had great luck with RCCL and our then 3 year old- Adventure Ocean was fantastic for him.

I'm not sure that all ports are kid friendly, but I'll leave it to others to discuss those that aren't. I can say that the ports on our Canada/New England cruise were extremely kid friendly. Portland had a great kids museum (Boston too- but we went whale watching which was really cool!), there was a steam train ride in Connecticut that was a big hit, and Tuffey the Tugboat and Amphibious boat rides in Halifax were made for kids, to name a few. I know that most think of the Caribbean or other warm destinations for cruises, but Canada/New England was a great family cruise. I would highly recommend it.

Personally I would pick one of the Freedom class ships on RCCL. They will have a small tot pool for kids in swim diapers. It is very small but at least the 2 year old will be able to swim!

We travelled RCL before with the kids (4 and 6 at the time). Adventure Ocean was amazing. They didn't even want to miss out of "camp" when we were at ports. We spent the extra money to get a balcony and a slightly bigger suite room as with the kids we thought (correctly for us) that we would be in the room more then if we were by ourselves. It was really nice to be able to sit on the balcony and relax while the kids had some down time in the room. Overall I saw the kids way less then I had expected. They loved the kids program and had lots of fun. We are booked on the Eurodam Feb 28, 2009 so we will see how it compares.

Our upcoming cruise is our second with 6, as my mom joins us!

We always cruise Carnival - price is usually the deciding factor.. but now it is the kids. They LOVE cruising and love the Camp Carnival activities.

We cruised on the Liberty last February, and had two Ocean View connecting rooms. This was a PERFECT set up for us! It really felt as if it was one big room. This year, we have side by side balcony rooms, and we are hoping that the balcony dividers will open so we can have some common area.

As far as ports go, my kids have enjoyed the Western side the best. Paradise Beach in Cozumel is a blast. The Taxi's in Cozumel are BY TAXI, not by person, so it is the same for a family of 6, as a couple. There are also VAN taxis.

In GrandCayman, Seven Mile beach is nice, as is Stingray City, which you may wish to split up and have the older kids go there.

No matter what you choose, cruising is sure the Best Family Vacation for our family!

On Carnival, the 2 year old will be able to go to the kids club, not so on RCCL. RCCL does have cabins that will sleep 4 though. You won't be able to book them on the internet though. It's best to go through a TA or RCCL directly.

By way of background, we have cruised with our three children (now 6, 7, and 8) since they were infants and have taken them on RCL, NCL, Carnival, Celebrity, and HAL.

If you want to be able to leave the two year old in the camp, your only choices are Carnival and NCL. On RCL and Celebrity, you can bring the two year old in and they have some activities every day, but you must remain present.

Our children are such fans of the kids programs, that the (literally) refuse to leave the ship! On our last Celebrity cruise, they went to camp at 9:00 a.m. and remained there until 10:00 p.m. and were begging us to pay for group babysitting so they could remain until midnight.

On port days on RCL, Celebrity, and Carnival you can leave them aboard while you take the baby with you. HAL does not offer that option. It has been too long since I went on NCL for me to speak with authority.

HAL and Celebrity have a markedly older crowd. Some grandmotherly types are sweet, some alte kakers do nothing but complain loudly about why you have brought young children (even well-behaved ones) on "their" cruise line. You can usually put the latter in their place by pointing out that you paid just as much for your children as they paid for themselves.

I prefer Mexico and the Caribbean in the winter. If you are worried about taxis for safety reasons, please note that I have yet to be on a cruise line tour bus that had seatbelts. In my experience you are more likely to get seatbelts in a taxi/van.

Have you found it is better to have an oceanview with kids or should we save money and go for inside? Do any balcony rooms have connecting rooms or balconies?

I consider oceanview cabins a complete waste. No one sits in one and looks out the window. Balcony cabins are nice, but very pricey. We had a GORGEOUS "Family Ocean View" one on our thirteen-day fall foliage cruise on Celebrity last October which actually had a huge verandah, almost as big as the room. We took it because the price for that cabin was only $200 more than the cost of two inside staterooms. Cruisecritic has an article on family friendly cabins. Check it out. Note that neither you nor your travel agent can access that inventory online. You (or your travel agent) must call the cruiseline to check availability.

There are cabins with connecting doors in all classes. If you and your spouse do not mind splitting up to sleep, you might consider getting a balcony cabin opposite an inside cabin. You combine the benefits of a balcony (nice for Alaska and the Caribbean) with the costs savings of an inside cabin which serves primarily as a bunk room.

There is no "kids rate". On NCL, children under two pay only the port taxes and fees. On MSC children under seventeen have the same deal as long as two people are paying the "adult rate". Almost invariably, you pay the standard third person rate. By chance, our next trip is to Alaska. Because she has more vacation time, my wife is traveling northbound on HAL from Vancouver in an inside cabin where the rate for passengers 3 and 4 was only $1.00 plus taxes and fees! I have never seen this before. [We are returning on RCL in two inside cabins with a connecting door. The FOVs on RCCL have only a window, and the cost of a balcony room was exorbitant. We would rather cruise twice as often than pay twice as much.]

If you can travel at off-peak times, you can get a great rate. Historically, we cruise during the dead time between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We usually get the lowest rates of the year. The school is good about giving the kids an "independent study" package of homework. The kids get the benefit of a cruise and the school still gets its money from the state. It gets tough supervising homework from 5-7, but we all cooperate to get it done.

In summer 2024, Caribbean Princess heads to Southampton for a series of European cruises before heading back to Florida.

10. MSC Meraviglia

Unless you're a hardcore cruise family, MSC Cruises might be the largest cruise line you’ve never heard of. One of the leading cruise lines in Europe, South America, and other parts of the world, MSC is working hard to get a foothold in North America by offering great deals on family cruises. These include kids ages 18 and under sailing free on select departures , and young children ages two and under always sailing free.

Family-friendly MSC Meraviglia launched in 2017 and it features seven different kids’ clubs for children from babies to age 17. Teens have their own space with a cinema, game room, and live stage. Families can play together in the vast entertainment area that includes an MSC Formula One Racing Simulator, a full-sized bowling alley with two lanes, an interactive XD cinema, a flight simulator, and a video games arcade. Teens have three different themed areas to engage with their peers.

The best cruise lines for families allow parents and kids to have fun together and apart while taking the stress out of group travel.

Our favorite family ships mix wow-factor activities with attractive kids clubs, plentiful and convenient dining and thoughtful touches like bathtubs and babysitting.

Disney Cruise Line

No one will be surprised that entertainment juggernaut Disney offers an amazing family cruise experience.

Disney Cruise Line ships are known for meet-and-greets with Mickey Mouse and Disney princesses, interactive movie-themed dining experiences and enormous kids clubs and play areas.

What might surprise the uninitiated is how good the line is at taking care of the whole family, not just the Mouse-obsessed little ones.

Disney thinks of all the little things that can help parents have a stress-free trip with kids in tow. From split bathrooms (allowing one family member to take a bath while another uses the toilet) to waiters who will cut up your child's food, Disney Cruise Line takes the pressure off parents.

While other cruise lines limit water play to kids who are toilet trained and drop-off child care to ages 3 and up, Disney caters to all kids with onboard splash areas and nurseries.

It also offers adults-only pool decks and restaurants, a nightlife scene and couples spa treatments to revive exhausted parents who haven't had a date in months.

Teens might roll their eyes at the ever-present Mickeys, but Disney Cruise Line does not ignore its older kid guests. Tweens and teens get their own cool hangouts, Edge and Vibe, with video games, foosball and hip seating areas.

Additionally, first-run movies and Broadway-caliber musicals, waterslides, teen spa treatments and grab-and-go food options (and free room service) keep older kids busy and happy.

Disney Wish and soon-to-debut Disney Treasure feature sports areas for free play and competitions attractive to this age group.

Royal Caribbean

With some of the biggest ships at sea and an amusement park-like private island in the Bahamas, Royal Caribbean is one of the best cruise lines for active families.

Want to try surfing, sky diving, rock climbing, laser tag, go-karts or zip lining? Families don't have to leave the ship to get their adrenaline highs.

Even the sedentary pursuits are high-octane on Royal Caribbean. Broadway musicals, festive parades, water acrobatic performances and ice skating shows wow the crowds on sea days.

Expansive play spaces for kids include separate clubs for teens and tweens, plus drop-off nurseries for babies.

Parents can sneak off to the adults-only solarium or thermal suite while the kids live it up at cruise camp.

After a hard day of play, worn-out families can refuel at a variety of restaurants, including burger and milkshake mecca Johnny Rockets, Italian and Mexican eateries and an all-day buffet.

Family cabins and connecting staterooms give larger families their needed space. The Ultimate Family Suite on Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas, Spectrum of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas can sleep eight, but parents and kids alike might be tempted to stay up late playing air hockey, scrambling up the climbing wall, soaking in the private outdoor hot tub or watching the giant TV.

When Icon of the Seas debuts in 2024, the new megaship will offer an entire section of the ship devoted to family-friendly accommodations and an outdoor dining-and-play space targeted at parents with young children.

Carnival Cruise Line

Practicalities first: Carnival Cruise Line is an affordable and convenient cruise line for families who don't live the jet-set lifestyle. With home ports all around the U.S., Carnival puts its ships within driving distance of many Americans.

A variety of short-cruise destinations, affordable-yet-spacious inside cabins (they can sleep four) and lots of onboard attractions and restaurants included in the fares combine to make it one of the best-value cruise lines afloat.

Carnival doesn't dub its fleet the Fun Ships for nothing. The whole family will have a blast on board, whether you like getting down to live music, busting a gut at family-friendly comedy shows, getting soaked at an onboard water park or eating green eggs and ham with Dr. Seuss characters.

The cruise line also embraces simple pleasures like free-flowing soft-serve ice cream and pizza and a day spent lounging by the pool.

Families don't need to pull out their wallets to feed ravenous teens or sugar-fueled children. Guy Fieri burgers and barbecue, burritos for breakfast and lunch and Shaquille O'Neal's fried chicken are all included in your cruise fares. No one's going to make you dress up for dinner, either.

Carnival ships have plenty of cabins that can sleep four or five passengers, but its newest ships truly treat families right. Book a Family Harbor cabin or suite and get access to a family lounge stocked with all the essentials — snacks and coffee, games, Wi-Fi, movies and a concierge to make bookings so mom and dad can spend more time playing with the kids.

MSC Cruises

The underdog on our list, MSC Cruises might not be a household name yet, but any cruise line that has a partnership with Lego should be on every family's radar.

As the Mediterranean line grows its U.S.-based fleet, it is staying attuned to the needs of traveling families.

Case in point: Larger family groups don't have to cram into one cabin or be scattered across the ship. Instead, they can select from a variety of connecting cabins that can accommodate up to 10 people.

His eldest children will likely be among the fans watching their father's impressive feat. However, his youngest child may not share the same enthusiasm.

The Top Gun star reportedly shares a close bond with his son Connor, who resides in a Scientology community in Clearwater, Florida, and often accompanies his father on promotional tours worldwide. This is quite different from his strained relationship with his daughter Suri , who was seen enjoying the New York sunshine earlier today.

Reports suggest that the Hollywood actor hasn't seen her since his contentious split and custody battle with actress Katie Holmes in 2012. It's believed that Tom's religious beliefs led to the dissolution of their marriage as Katie had concerns about raising Suri within the Church of Scientology.

As a result, the father and daughter are reportedly estranged, reports the Mirror . However, Tom's other adopted children, who are often overlooked, continue to hold high positions within the Church of Scientology.

Unlike Suri, the elder two distanced themselves from their mother Nicole Kidman but maintain a close relationship with their father. Isabella and Connor Cruise were adopted by Tom and Nicole in 1992 and 1995 respectively.

When the Hollywood power couple divorced in 2001, they shared joint custody. However, when their mother moved back to Australia, the children chose to stay in LA with their father.

Tom Cruise raised his children, Bella and Connor, within the Church of Scientology, and they have risen to become prominent figures within the controversial religion. "Connor and Isabella grew up in the church of Scientology, they've been members since they were kids," an insider disclosed to PEOPLE in 2019, noting that like their father Tom, they are "completely dedicated Scientologists just like Tom."

Nicole Kidman has experienced a distant relationship with her children due to her supposed status as an "SP" [Suppressive Person], which has led to them keeping their distance from her. In a 2007 GMTV interview, Nicole lamented that her children "don't even call me 'Mom'" and expressed her dislike for being referred to by her first name.

In a heartfelt admission to WHO magazine in 2018, Nicole said: "They have made the choice to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them. And I am an example of that tolerance and that's what I believe - that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I'm open here."

She emphasized the importance of unconditional love for a child, stating: "I think that's so important because if that is taken away from a child, to sever that in any child, in any relationship, in any family - I believe it's wrong. So that's our job as a parent, to always offer unconditional love."

Despite her efforts, Nicole's relationship with Bella and Connor has been fraught; she was notably absent from both of their weddings. Reports suggest that Nicole was not aware of Bella's marriage to British IT consultant Max Parker in 2015 until after the fact.

While Tom Cruise also did not receive an invitation to Bella's wedding, he was informed about the event and reportedly paid for it. Bella continues to live in a three-bedroom house in Croydon, south London, even turning down Tom's generous offer to reside in his $428,000 penthouse when she first moved to the UK full-time in 2017. The insider further added that Connor "worships the ground his father walks on" and said: "First, Tom would never even consider inviting Nicole to Connor's wedding because she's considered a 'suppressive person' by the church - and, second, he doesn't want her there."

Despite everything, Nicole never gave up on her "lost babies" and began reconnecting with them since the lockdowns started in 2021 during the coronavirus pandemic. Bella has now achieved 'auditor' status in the UK branch of the church, which means she can now interrogate other Scientology followers using an e-meter - a type of lie detector.

Tom Cruise conceded in a 2013 deposition that Scientology played a critical part in the discord with Suri. When pressed by lawyers if Holmes divorced him partly to shield Suri from Scientology, Cruise confirmed, "That was one of the assertions, yes."

In reports surfacing in 2016, it came to light that Cruise may not have seen Suri for three years, allegedly due to Scientology doctrines disallowing contact with 'nonbelievers'. Despite this, insiders explained to Page Six that he had the opportunity to visit Suri, citing that "celebrities get to break all the rules".

Reports suggest that Tom Cruise is a stranger to his 18-year-old daughter, who is reportedly about to move into her dorm at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As part of their divorce agreement, Tom agreed to pay Katie Holmes $400,000 per month until their daughter turns 18, and also cover "medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs."

An insider revealed to the Daily Mail: "Suri does not know her father anymore and she has not spent time with him in a decade. She does not go to see his movies and he has no part in her life."

Following her recent high school graduation, it was reported by several outlets that Suri had changed her last name from Cruise to Noelle - a nod to her 45-year-old mother, whose middle name is Noelle. Page Six posted a picture of the supposed graduation program, highlighting the name 'Suri Noelle', as credited to celebrity news agency Backgrid.

Disney cruise line reveals new ship 'disney destiny' with famed characters from the marvel universe.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- If you're one of the millions of Americans planning to take a cruise next year, you should know Disney Cruise Line just announced the details for its newest ship, the Disney Destiny .

"Like Loki, the next Disney Cruise Line ship is destined for glorious purpose. When the Disney Destiny sets sail, the heroes and villains-inspired ship will offer unique opportunities for families to interact with famed characters and stories from the Marvel Universe with all-new spaces and experiences," The Walt Disney Company describes.

Disney Imagineer and creative director for the ship, Beth Burkhardt, joined Eyewitness News to give viewers a first look. The ship will include adult-only spaces like a spotted, Cruella DeVille-themed piano lounge, as well as spaces designed specifically for kids.

"The heroes and villains theme of the Disney Destiny provides the perfect platform for us to collaborate with Disney Cruise Line on all-new, Marvel-inspired experiences guests won't find anywhere else on land or at sea across the multiverse," Brian Crosby, executive, Marvel Experiences Development, said. "We're honoring some of our classic heroes like Black Panther and Spider-Man on board, and we're celebrating the larger-than-life personalities of the Avengers as inspiration for one-of-a-kind venues. This will be a must-do for all true believers!"

The Disney Destiny will sail to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale starting in November 2025, but Bookings open this September.

Producer Reveals Tom Cruise Stunt At Paris Olympics Had A 'Weird Inspiration'

New details about Tom Cruise ’s stunt at the 2024 Paris Olympics are coming to light.

The “ Mission: Impossible ” star closed Sunday’s ceremony in true Hollywood fashion by leaping into the Stade de France and hopping on a motorcycle, before a pre-taped clip showed him skydiving toward the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles and the 2028 Olympics.

While the feat seemed most inspired by the stunt-laden “Impossible” franchise, former “ Late Late Show ” producer Ben Winston told The Hollywood Reporter that this symbolic passing of the baton was instead influenced by a 15-year-old bit — from Conan O’Brien .

“I liked the idea of doing the bulk of it in Los Angeles but with an amazing open in Paris,” Winston said Monday . “This is such a weird reference, but remember when Conan O’Brien started on ‘ The Tonight Show’ and moved from New York to Los Angeles?”

“He did a really fun sketch going cross country,” he continued about O’Brien’s hilarious 2009 opener . “That has always stuck with me. So I was like, ‘How do Tom Cruise and all these incredible athletes take that flag from Paris to L.A.?’ It’s a weird inspiration.”

Winston recalled learning that “there’s this tradition of a 12-minute show” to symbolize the Olympics’ journey from one host nation to another and immediately thinking: “Well, it would be the coolest thing if we snatched the flag, and we could get Tom Cruise to do it.”

While he originally planned to have a masked stuntman pull off the more dangerous moments, Winston said filming the closer — which had onlookers in the Hollywood hills believe they were filming the next “Impossible” movie — went even better than expected.

“Tom’s feedback was, ‘I love the idea, only we’re not doing a stuntman in a balaclava. I’m going to be the one who jumps off the roof, and I’m going to be the one who drives through Paris,’” he said Monday. “Obviously, that’s better for me.”

Cruise clearly succeeded in his ongoing mission to become the most death-defying A-lister in town, and notably grabbed an Olympics flag from gold medalist Simone Biles and LA Mayor Karen Bass after abseiling into the packed Paris stadium.

While he’s certainly pulled off similar stunts before and promoted “Top Gun: Maverick” (2022) with dizzying flying lessons for former “Late Late Show” host James Corden , the feat of insuring Cruise was likely just as difficult as the Olympics stunt itself.

“It was definitely a consideration when we were doing the ‘Top Gun’ stuff for ‘The Late Late Show,’” Winston told THR. “It was like, ‘Well, who does the liability lie with — the show or Tom?’ I still don’t know the answer on this one.”
