Chris Young To Kick Off 'Young Love & Saturday Nights Tour' — See The Dates

Chris Young is kicking off his Young Love & Saturday Nights chapter with a fresh list of headlining tour dates this spring, the country star announced on Tuesday (January 9). Young posted a list of tour stops one day after confirming long-awaited details about his next full-length record , his “largest album to date,” titled after his David Bowie -inspired single.

“New album and new tour, let’s go!” Young wrote in his Instagram caption as he shared details about his headlining “Young Love & Saturday Nights Tour 2024,” with special guest Bryan Martin . Tickets will be available Friday (January 12) at 10 a.m. local time. The tour kicks off in April in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with stops in Texas, Ohio, Arizona and other destinations. It wraps up in May with a show in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Young’s ninth full-length studio album will feature 18 tracks, including one that’s set to release on Friday, “Right Now.” Young Love & Saturday Nights will follow Famous Friends , the album Young debuted in 2021 with a deluxe edition releasing the following year. Young Love & Saturday Nights  is due on March 22.

“I’ve been living with it for so long, I’m so excited for people to actually be able to dig into it and hear all of it as a whole as opposed to one or two teaser clips,” Young said of his forthcoming album in a previous interview with iHeartCountry . “It’s always fun to post that stuff, but I want people to really dive into this album and enjoy the work that we’ve put into it.

“I know it’s gonna sound cliché, but this is one of my favorite projects I’ve ever made,” he continued. “If there was actually any inspiration for me being fired up and working on myself, it would probably be that the music is so good. I’m really, really proud of this project. I want people to hear it.”

by The AV Times Staff • July 15, 2022

chris young tour 2022 opening act

Since winning the “Nashville Star” television singing competition in 2006, Chris Young has amassed a string of accomplishments, including 5 billion on-demand streams, 13 million singles sold, 12 career No. 1 singles, 24 R.I.A.A. Gold/Platinum/MultiPlatinum certified projects and numerous ACM, AMA, CMA, and Grammy nominations, as well as wins for Performance of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards. These accomplishments landed him in the Top 20 of Billboard’s top country artists of the decade.

Nashville-based duo Kat & Alex embody classic country stylings and values, with a Latin twist. In 2021, the couple tied the knot, made their Grand Ole Opry debut, and released several new tracks to critical acclaim, including “Heartbreak Tour,” which The New York Times dubbed as “an earnest power country slow-burner.”

“As everyone knows, it’s been three years since we’ve been able to host our iconic AV Fair & Alfalfa Festival, and we are thrilled to be back,”  said Antelope Valley Fair Association President Drew Mercy. “Having the opportunity to host one of the most popular country stars, Chris Young, and up-and-coming artists Kat & Alex is only made possible by the tremendous generosity of the city of Lancaster.”

Chris Young/Kat & Alex concert tickets

Pre-sale discounted general admission tickets for the Chris Young/Kat & Alex concert are on sale now at AVFair.com . Tickets prices range from $50 for General Admission to $90 for Gold Circle seating. You live under a rock if you never heard of him. He is one of the best in my book. You dont know country if you never heard of him.

“Live under a rock” and “don’t know country” are two entirely different things. I had to look the guy up, and freely admit that I neither “know country” nor have any inclination to get acquainted.

This concert was great!!My daughter and I had a great time singing and watching all them on stage. The two things that were the most memorable the first one was when Chris Young performed Drowning in memory of Kane Brown's drummer that passed away and he asked us all to get out our phones. Seeing everyones phone lit up was amazing. The second thing was at the end when we got him to sing the song You! The concert was definitely worth it and I would go again.

COUNTRY STAR CHRIS YOUNG ANNOUNCES VENUE DEBUT AT RESORTS WORLD THEATRE AT RESORTS WORLD LAS VEGAS

Chris Young Photo

LAS VEGAS, NV (APRIL 2, 2024) – This summer, country music star and producer Chris Young is making his venue debut at Resorts World Theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas with a one-night-only performance. Off the heels of his most recent album release, Young Love & Saturday Nights , Young will take the Resorts World Theatre stage on Saturday, August 10, 2024, to present his new and long-celebrated catalog of hits. Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday, April 5, 2024, at 10 a.m. PT at AXS.com.

With songs like “Getting Older” as an ode to his father, and “All Dogs Go to Heaven” dedicated to man’s best friend, Young Love & Saturday Nights is emotionally, sonically, and stylistically different from anything Young has ever released. The album also capably demonstrates Young’s confidence as a producer, with his hands-on approach being both heard and felt in every song.

With a chart-topping career spanning more than a decade, fans can also expect to hear beloved favorites like “Tomorrow,” “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song),” and “Neon” among others. Young’s level of focus, attention to detail, and traditional country ballads influenced by his Tennessee roots are sure to translate into an unforgettable performance at the stunning Resorts World Theatre. To purchase tickets visit AXS.com or for more information on this performance at Resorts World Theatre, visit rwlasvegas.com/ .

The 5,000-capacity theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas, exclusively programmed and operated by Concerts West / AEG Presents, is a state-of-the-art, multi-level venue designed by the award-winning international design firm, Scéno Plus. The intimate venue, with the furthest seat only 150 feet from the stage, features unparalleled comfort, unobstructed sightlines, and an unmatched spatial audio experience through more than 200 L-Acoustics speakers powered by L-ISA Immersive Hyperreal Sound technology.

For the second year in a row, Resorts World Theatre was named the world’s highest-grossing venue under 5,000 capacity on Billboard ’s Annual Top Grossing Venues list for 2023. Based on reporting from November 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023, the 5,000-seat venue scored No. 1 on the 2023 year-end boxscore chart.

ABOUT CHRIS YOUNG Chris Young is a study in contrasts and dualities. He’s frequently complimented by music press as being a country “traditionalist” — with good reason — but he’s equally fond of pushing against stylistic boundaries. He’s an old soul with songs that express deep wisdom as well as youthful rambunctiousness. He’s got a mind for the music business and one of the nimblest voices in Nashville, but he knows when to let art speak on its own terms. Somehow, he makes it look effortless. “I still love what I do,” says the Tennessee native, who’s notched 13 career Number Ones and more than two dozen R.I.A.A. certified projects. “I love creating music and I love making it and the fact that I get to do that for a living is a pretty incredible thing.”

After pushing through the deflating Covid-era remote songwriting trend and scoring one of his biggest hits alongside his pal Kane Brown with 2020’s “Famous Friends,” Young again embraced working without restrictions and reveling in those extreme contrasts of his artistry. The result is Young Love & Saturday Nights , Young’s ninth studio album and a bold statement that he’s one of the most versatile and durable talents of his era.

At 18 songs, the project is Young’s most ambitious release yet, the result of countless writing and listening sessions. Instead of chasing trends, Young turns things up — emotionally, sonically, stylistically. The ballads hit harder, the rowdy tunes are more raucous, and the anthems hit new highs. “This is what this album felt like it needed to be for me,” he says. “It’s a little louder, a little more raw. Even the stripped-down songs are heavier.”

The title track flips the iconic guitar riff from David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel” into something new — a story of wide-eyed love and freedom about a young woman who “loves his southern drawl from north of Atlanta, that Silverado he got parked outside” that maintains the spirit of the original. Written by Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley, and Josh Thompson with Bowie getting a posthumous credit for the riff, it showed up in Young’s listening session with zero explanation. “I had no idea what it was. The minute it started, I’m like, ‘Are they playing me “Rebel Rebel” right now? That’s weird,’” Young recalls. “Then I realized it was an entirely new song.”

Young tackles mortality and aging with a grace and sincerity that belies his years. “Getting Older” is dedicated to his father, Mike Harris, who has a “mind just like a wellspring full of lessons.” Young had been trying to write something along those lines, but it turned out that Johnny Clawson, Dave Fenley, and Kyle Sturrock beat him to it. The moment Young heard the song, he asked to cut it. “It’s really, really special,” he says. “It’s one of those where you hear it and you’re like, ‘Damn, I wish I wrote that.’”

There’s also “All Dogs Go to Heaven,” a powerful ode to man’s best friend. Young, who adores his own canine companion, Porter, a six-year-old German Shepherd, wrote it with a friend who was grieving the loss of his pet. “That song is going to mean a lot to people. I don’t have any kids, but my dog might as well be my kid,” says Young.

Of course, Young still excels at producing sexy, swaggering songs, a stylistic hallmark of his since “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song).” New tracks like “Call It a Day” and “Don’t Stop” continue that approach while bringing lived-in tenderness and sensitivity. “You’ve gotta be careful, because I’ll try to turn every song into that,” Young says. “Sometimes a sexy song can come off as too corny or too aggressive if you’re not careful. There’s a very fine line you have to walk, but I’m never going to stop cutting them.”

Young goes farther than physical intimacy by exploring different phases of relationships on the album. Some of them, like “Million Miles,” are about painful memories, while “What She Sees in Me” is, in Young’s words, “like a first dance at a wedding song.” Others find complicated spots somewhere between. “Right Now” imagines a couple of people still trying to define where it’s all going. “You’re in that in-between phase of a relationship going, ‘It’s late, I can’t sleep. I’m wondering where you are and you’re wondering where I’m at. Let’s not wonder about it anymore. Let’s be in the same place,’” Young says.

Even when love has run its course, Young has an interesting way of looking at it. The closing song “Down,” which surges with Springsteen-like intensity, looks back in gratitude for a relationship that burned bright while it lasted. “It’s like, ‘Hey we knew this wasn’t going to last, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t amazing while it did,’” he says.

Young Love & Saturday Nights also capably demonstrates Young’s confidence as a producer. He’s inhabited the role in various ways since he and Corey Crowder recorded 2015’s I’m Comin’ Over on their own, not knowing if the label would even like it. “It ended up blowing up and being one of the biggest records I’ve ever done,” he says. It’s a little-known fact that Young is quite the studio geek with specific, hands-on opinions on how he wants his records to sound.

That level of focus and attention to detail can’t be overlooked in Young’s career longevity. He signed his record deal with Sony Music Nashville at the age of 20 and has seen numerous trends come and go, all of which he and his team have navigated without losing sight of what makes him unique. He says it’s key to be always aware of what’s happening, but not let it dictate the decisions. “I’m gonna keep doing this and I refuse to take no for an answer,” he says. “I want to have my music heard and I’m going to stick around until as many people as possible get a chance to hear and experience it.”

It’s a savvy balance of understanding the marketplace as well as being able to trust one’s gut when it’s pulling in the opposite direction. It’s the kind of thing Young has shown he can do extremely well, although having an abundance of dogged determination doesn’t hurt either. Thankfully, Young has both things going for him. “The business has changed many times over the course of my career, and you’ll fall victim to not being aware,” he says. “But at the end of the day it’s still about making the best record you can.”

Chris Young On Opening for Alan Jackson: ‘I Was Just Very Grateful’

chris young tour 2022 opening act

Chris Young just had the opportunity of a lifetime, when he was invited to open for Alan Jackson earlier this month, as part of Jackson’s farewell Last Call: One More For The Road Tour . For Young, it was a full-circle moment for him, who grew up idolizing the Country Music Hall of Fame member and his music.

“My first tour was Martina [McBride] , as far as a tour, you’re in amphitheaters,” Young shared with Everything Nash and other outlets at a recent media event. “My second was Alan. I’ve always been an Alan Jackson fan. They asked me if I wanted to do it. It was a no-brainer. I was like, ‘What would you like me to do, Mr. Jackson, sir?’ I mean that from a lot of perspectives.”

Young’s relationship with Jackson extends beyond touring. Young released his It Must Be Christmas album in 2016, which included Jackson singing with Young on “There’s a New Kid in Town.” It’s a song that Young first heard on Jackson’s 1993 Honky Tonk Christmas album, which featured Keith Whitley on the song. But for Young’s album, the Tennessee native asked Jackson to sing Whitley’s part.

“That was one of the most special things I got to do, because I love Christmas music …  That first Alan Jackson Christmas record, it wasn’t Christmas at my house unless you heard that,” Young shares. “And actually, he doesn’t know this, but the first song I ever learned to play on the guitar was ‘Chattahoochee.”

chris young tour 2022 opening act

Young is by now a veteran on stage and at live music events, but he still took plenty of notes while Jackson was performing

“I went out after my show and watched all of his set, and just geeked out,” Young recalls. “He’s just not only a legend, but if you look at him only from a songwriting perspective, people would aspire to have a quarter of the talent. The stuff that he has written by himself — people don’t really look at liner notes anymore on albums, but it’s incredible.

“I was just very grateful that I got to be a part of that tour, because people still have his music, but he’s going to be missed on the road,” he adds. “People want to see him play. The fact that he’s doing that is absolutely amazing. Not just for him, but for all the artists that get to look up to him.”

Last Call: One More For The Road will be Jackson’s final tour. The 65-year-old revealed in 2021 that he had been  battling Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease , a rare degenerative nerve condition that affects Jackson’s mobility. Jackson quietly dealt with the illness for several years before going public with the news.

“I have this neuropathy and neurological disease,” Jackson said on the  Today Show . “It’s genetic that I inherited from my daddy … There’s no cure for it, but it’s been affecting me for years. And it’s getting more and more obvious. And I know I’m stumbling around on stage. And now I’m having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone, and so I just feel very uncomfortable.

“It’s not going to kill me. It’s not deadly,” he added “But it’s related (to) muscular dystrophy and Parkinson’s disease.”

Health issues aside, Jackson is also ready to spend more time at home, and with his family.

“I’ve been touring for over 30 years – my daughters are all grown … I’m enjoying spending more time at home,” Jackson said when discussing his final tour. “But my fans always show up to have a good time, and I’m going to give them the best show I can for this Last Call.”

The remaining dates on Jackson’s Last Call: One More For The Road can be found at AlanJackson.com .

Chris Young Tour Opening Acts Help Liquid Neon Glow

Chris Young kicked off his first headlining tour with a sold-out show at Nashville's famed Ryman Auditorium last week. The singer-songwriter invited Thomas Rhett and Joanna Smith to join him on the Liquid Neon trek, and says he couldn't be happier with his opening acts.

"One of the cool things about being in charge of the tour is getting to pick who you take out," Chris told The Boot and other reporters at a recent media event. "I know there were a lot of people that wanted Thomas Rhett to come out with them. There are a lot of tours going on, especially in November and December. I obviously have a connection with him, not only through me and him doing shows on the road, but also, I've written a lot with his dad [ Rhett Akins ]."

In fact, Chris's current single, "I Can Take It From There," was co-written by Thomas, along with hit writer Ben Hayslip. "I obviously love his new single, 'Beer With Jesus,'" Chris explains. "I really love his writing ability and what he's been able to do so far. I think he's got a long career ahead of him."

Chris is also excited to have newcomer Joanna Smith out with him, having pursued her after hearing only a demo of one of her songs. "I was actually sitting on my bus, talking about ... the fall [tour]," he recalls. "It was way early in the year. My head of promotion played me, 'We Can't Be Friends.' I said, 'Damn, that's good. Can we get her? Can she come out and open?' I just kind of said it as an aside."

The singer-songwriter thinks his two opening acts perfectly round out the trek. "That's always another thing to think about, being in charge of your tour. I want something that's going to be different hits throughout the show. I want people to really pay for a ticket and get the experience of it. I think it's going to be really cool having both of them. They're different, and I love their music, so I'm happy to have them out on the road."
