Recent tour reviews

Periphery was FANTASTIC. They're sound quality and skill was f$&#@in' ON POINT. Everything was tuned beautifully and they just really have it their all. They have a great stage presence too, not missing a beat while guitarists are goofing off all over the stage- it was an all around great time. They were touring with Veil of Maya which they are apparently friends with, so there was great support for both groups and on Maya's last set Spencer of Periphery got on stage and screamed a few lines along with them. It was amazing! My husband has loved these guys for years and I always thought they were good, but it wasn't really my jam- after this concert I'm definitely a fan.

What a great show! Very technically good as far as sound and accuracy, which is very impressive for how precise the guitar parts are and the fact that there are three guitarists. The crowd was nuts, knew all the words! A good bit of push moshing, but nothing super aggressive. Most people were actually enjoying the show.

The periphery show was a total blast. All the bands that performed were exceptionally awesome. I brought my family to there first concert and i nust say they had an awesome first concert experience. I will definitely be taking them back to see these bands again. Great time.

Periphery Add Run of Fall 2023 US Tour Dates

Periphery Add Run of Fall 2023 US Tour Dates

Periphery have announced a string of Fall 2023 US tour dates in support of their latest album Periphery V: Djent Is Not a Genre .

Previously, the progressive metal band had only announced a pair of headlining dates — November 4th in Anaheim and November 18th in Worcester, Massachusetts — which will bookend the upcoming November trek. Periphery will play multiple two-night stands along the way: Denver (November 6th and 7th), Chicago (12th and 13th), and Baltimore (15th and 16th). Plini, Archspire, Thank You Scientist, Thomas Giles, and Mike Dawes will provide support on select dates.

A Live Nation ticket pre-sale for the newly announced dates begins Thursday (July 13th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster using the code LEGEND . General ticket sales begin Friday (July 14th) at 10 a.m. local time. Alternatively, you can purchase tickets to sold-out shows via StubHub — where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

Periphery have dubbed the outing “The Wildfire Tour” and will perform two unique sets for the aforementioned two-night stands. To give the band ample time, Mike Dawes will be the sole support act for those shows.

“This tour represents something we’ve wanted to do for a while now… play multiple shows in more intimate rooms, and offer up different sets,” stated Periphery’s Mark Holcomb. “We’ve always been vocal about making art for ourselves, but these exclusive shows are something catered to our most devoted fans. Whether you just started following us with P5 or have been with us since the early days, we hope you can make it out to one of the shows. It’s gonna be a blast!”

It's always cool when a band can sell a large amount of tickets for a show. They get to update the tour poster with that cool "Low Tickets" picture and it opens up the chances for even bigger tours or cooler support opportunities. So, I wonder what that means for Periphery because their Wildfire Tour '23 has had to of set some sort of record. Not only is the ENTIRE tour sold out, but a majority of the tour had the band in the same city for 2 nights. So, you're telling me that enough people bought tickets for Night 1 to sell it out, and then fans decided they needed more and went back again?! That just has to show the testament of the love and dedication of fans. I luckily got to experience this euphoric moment at Tannahill's in Fort Worth, TX with Periphery & Mike Dawes.

Mike Dawes got the show started. I didn't know what to expect. I know that Periphery is a heavy, djent band, so I was very confused when I saw just 1 person walk on stage holding an acoustic guitar. I thought "Oh okay. We got an acoustic intro. I bet the rest of the band will come on stage soon". As Dawes continued to play, I didn't see anyone else and realized it was just going to be him on stage. But, oh my gosh. Not only can Dawes play the absolute sh*t out of the guitar, but his ability to entertain the crowd and have fun was next level as well. The entire night was full of singing (both from Dawes and the crowd), laughter, and just all around good energy.

will periphery tour again

Periphery took the stage to a roar of applause. Before I talk about the show, I need to start with this: Damn. I initially wasn't all that familiar with the band. I worked a small tour and the drummer of the band had 1 tattoo: the Periphery logo. I remember asking him if the band was that impressive to be his first and only tattoo. After playing me some of their songs, I was convinced. Obviously, he isn't the only one that feels this way about the band. Because not only was Periphery just in Dallas the night before where they sold out the Echo Lounge & Music Hall , but they were able to sell out Tannahill's in Fort Worth on a Friday night. You may not know this, but Friday nights in Fort Worth, especially around this time of year, are almost always full of people going to the bars, holiday events, and the rodeo. So, you're telling me that while competing with all that, the night was still sold out?! That is absolutely mental.

will periphery tour again

Periphery has been around since the early 2000's and have been perfecting their craft and sound ever since. Speaking of sound, the sound coming from the stage was next level. It basically shook you to your core and rearranged your insides to spell the word "Djent." The crowd was going absolutely next level as Periphery continued to bombard them with some of the crispiest playing I've ever heard. I don't care who you are, djent is the best. Stop lying to yourself when you say it is not. The crunchiness of the guitar and bass tones, the beautiful duality of the drum fills with "that" crash (you know the one), and vocals that go from a sing-a-long melody to melting your face off. I was right about dad rock, I was right about crabcore, and I'm right again! With nonstop moshing, some circle pits, and over 1,000 fans screaming their hearts out, I'm surprised the venue was left standing.

CONCERT REVIEW: Periphery’s Triumphant Return to The Netherlands

Periphery , the progressive metal powerhouse, made a long-awaited return to The Netherlands to entertain their fans with a captivating performance showcasing their latest album, Periphery V: Djent Is Not A Genre . The venue buzzed with anticipation as the band embarked on a 1-hour and 15-minute musical journey, blending new tracks with beloved classics like Marigold and Blood Eagle .

The evening commenced with a powerful start, featuring three lengthy songs from their 2023 album, kicking off proceedings with the versatile Dracul Gras , followed by the album opener Wildfire and fan-favourite Atropos , filling the initial half-hour with a display of Periphery’s instrumental and vocal prowess. Although not without a few imperfections, Spencer Sotelo ‘s impressive vocal range shone through, adding an extra layer of depth to the band’s performance.

Visually, the stage was brought to life with dynamic lighting, courtesy of light pillars that illuminated the room and strategically deployed smoke machines enhancing the impact of intense moments, such as the breakdowns in Blood Eagle and the aforementioned track Wildfire , which always happens to be one of the band’s heaviest songs.

Disappointment struck when the highly anticipated acoustic rendition of Scarlet was omitted from the setlist, leaving a void that was not filled by a substitute. Nevertheless, the setback did little to dampen the overall enjoyment of the show. Periphery’s comfort on stage was palpable, with band members frequently engaging with the audience, taking moments between songs to chat and acknowledging their camera guy, Matteo, who diligently captured the energy of mosh pits and elated front-row fans.

The setlist boasted a well-curated mix, featuring tracks from nearly all their albums, with the exception of the latest one, Periphery V , which dominated the night as expected, aligning with the tour’s focus on promoting this particular release.

The musicianship displayed throughout the night underscored Periphery’s extraordinary talent and versatility. Each song, old or new, served as a testament to the band’s ability to seamlessly navigate a range of musical styles. The live rendition of Periphery’s catalogue showcased the depth of their artistry, leaving the audience in awe of their skill and dedication.

Curious about what the show looked like? Take a look at the gallery right below and let us know if you are attending a Periphery show in the near future.

Paul Conversano , aka Ravenscoon , has been undeviatingly dedicated to his fanbase via an exemplary online presence backed by his ever-evolving skillset that doesn’t shy away from crossing genres or mixing ideas. Whether supporting major acts like Liquid Stranger and Excision or throwing down jam-worthy sets at festivals such as Sonic Bloom , Deep Tropics , and Bonnaroo , he has continued to take inspiration from a surplus of sources and drive them home into well-produced creations that fans love.

Following a boom of prosperous creativity that began last March, Ravenscoon is excitedly announcing his first headlining tour alongside his multi-part debut album, PERIPHERY . After an intense editing process with dozens of potential tracks to initially choose from, this album is confirmed to be a four-part release running concurrently with the fall tour schedule. Comprised of 18 tracks, each piece ( BODY , HEART , MIND , and SOUL ) is intended to connect with the previous to convey a tenacious story about the layers of consciousness that form the human experience.

I’m elated to present my Periphery tour with robust, talented, and diverse support from almost two dozen acts from dubstep to wave. My most comprehensive vision yet, this tour promises to captivate and inspire – and showcase a vast amount of emotional bass music. Ravenscoon

Ravenscoon to Embark on Debut Headline ‘The Periphery Tour’ at Iconic U.S. Venues

Around the same time that ‘periphery’ is being released, ravenscoon is hitting the road this fall with his first headlining tour of the same name..

The experimental bass producer announced that his debut album , ‘Periphery,’ is dropping later this year in four separate parts. With eighteen tracks total, Ravenscoon has been working on the concept album since 2019. ‘The Periphery Tour’ is finally bringing his vision to fruition with his first headlining tour.

Watch: Craziest Wave Ever Surfed on a Hydrofoil Kite?

Hydrofoil kite surfing is about as fringe as it gets.

Just on its own, hydrofoil surfing is on the periphery of traditional surfing, although it's undeniably rising in popularity. Then throw a kite into the mix? That’s a rarity.

And so, with that in mind, it’s sort of tough to gauge the following claim – is this the craziest ride ever on a hydrofoil kite setup? Who knows. But it’s gotta be up there.

Let’s break it down.

The surfer (is this even surfing?) goes by the name of Cash Berzolla. He hails from Maui – good place for wind sports – and he competes on the GWA Wingfoil Tour, which is apparently a thing, and sorta like the World Surf League’s Championship Tour. Except, of course, there’s kites and hydrofoils and a variety of disciplines like “slalom” and “big air.”

By the looks of it, this wave came from the GWA Wingfoil Tour event on the island of Sal, which is part of the Cape Verde archipelago, and off the west coast of Africa. From the event recap , it sounds like Cash scored a perfect 10 – no word if it was this wave or another one – and placed second in the event overall.

Related: Surfer Lands First-Ever Foil 540 Rodeo Flip, Kelly Slater Stirs Controversy (Video)

On the wave, Cash hits the lip with his hydrofoil. But instead of returning back down the face of the wave, he lingers – similar to a floater in traditional surfing, or even a skater grinding the coping of a pool, bowl, or ramp. His foil even disengages for a moment, seeing Cash hover above the water, before the foil catches again, and he recovers.

Then, he ditches the kite, and tucks in for a tube. Is that allowed? Who knows. Who cares. It’s pretty radical for any wave-riding discipline.

Craziest wave ever ridden on a hydrofoil kite?

Craziest one we’ve seen.

Cameron Young sets 40-year PGA Tour record no one would ever want

Young finished solo second at the PGA Tour’s Valspar Championship over the weekend, marking yet another runner up.

Share All sharing options for: Cameron Young sets 40-year PGA Tour record no one would ever want

Cameron Young, PGA Tour, Valspar Championship

Cameron Young was the only player in the Valspar Championship field to shoot in the 60s all four days. Yet, he came up two shots short of Peter Malnati .

His solo second finish is the seventh of his short PGA Tour career. He now has the most runner up finishes without a win on Tour since 1983.

The two players who held the record before Young were Colin Montgomerie and Briny Baird, with six apiece.

Young stood on the 18th tee in need of a birdie to tie Malnati. Instead, an errant drive put him in a tough position where he would ultimately bogey and clear the way for Malnati.

“Yeah, it was just a bad time for a pull. Trying to hit kind of the same, similar one that I hit off of 16. Not quite as dramatic of a cut, but just kind of started it on the wrong side of the wind, and it’s blowing pretty good off the right. So, yeah, just a bad time for a bad one,” Young said after his round.

For the most part, his driver has been his best club this year.

Young is one of the best drivers on the PGA Tour right now. He ranks No. 18 in strokes gained off the tee. However, the rest of his game can be a hit or miss. The 26-year-old ranks No. 113 in strokes gained putting, which left him short of the title on Sunday.

Nevertheless, he is 8-of-8 in cuts made this season, including finishing third in the DP World Tour’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic. Young also had a T4 at the Cognizant Classic.

The former Wake Forest Demon Decon has earned over $14 million in his brief career.

Sunday saw him climb up the leaderboard after beginning three shots behind Keith Mitchell, the 54-hole leader.

Looking for his first TOUR win Cameron Young gets a share of the lead @ValsparChamp . pic.twitter.com/T8WlWM7L8P — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) March 24, 2024

However, bogeys on the 2nd and 18th kept him from forcing a playoff with Malnati.

“I think I kept myself in it mentally really well today,” he said. “I hit a couple of shots I was really proud of late... But I think I handled my own thoughts really well and, for me, that’s a big win regardless of the outcome.”

When will the young star get over the hump? This record Young currently holds isn’t one anybody playing on the PGA Tour wants. Seven runner-up finishes in 60 events means he is finishing inside the top two 11.7 percent of the time.

Of course, the money is nice, but getting that PGA Tour win on the resume is surely the goal.

Bruce Springsteen 'literally couldn't sing at all' while dealing with peptic ulcer disease

will periphery tour again

Bruce Springsteen 's bout with peptic ulcer disease made him doubt whether he'd ever sing again.

The Boss said as much on SiriusXM's E Street Radio with Jim Rotolo in an interview that aired Thursday.

“I had the stomach problem and one of the big problems was I couldn't sing,” Springsteen, 74, said. “You sing with your diaphragm. You know, my diaphragm was hurting so badly that when I went to make the effort to sing it was killing me. So I literally couldn't sing at all. That lasted for two or three months.”

In September, the legendary rocker announced the E Street Band's shows that month would be postponed so he could treat his symptoms from peptic ulcer disease. A few weeks later, he rescheduled shows for the remainder of the year.

“During the course of it before people told me 'Oh, it's going to go away' and 'You're going to be OK,'" Springsteen told the radio station.

“You're thinking like, 'Hey, am I going to sing again?' This is one of the things I love to do the best, the most, and right now I can't do it. I found some great doctors and they straightened me out, and I can't do anything but thank them."

Things may have been straightened out, but not before Springsteen's health issues came to a head at the Foxborough, Massachusetts, and East Rutherford, New Jersey, shows in late August and early September.

“The last four shows, I was playing really ill,” Springsteen said. “So that was Foxborough, which was a great show, and the three Meadowlands shows, which were all, really, the band playing at its best and in front of a great New Jersey audience and a great Boston audience. But I was really not well.

“I had a little medication in me that got me up there and kept me up there for the rest of the night. You know, once you’re onstage, you’re letting it go, no matter what. You’re playing as hard as you can and they ended up being great shows. But I knew, when I came off after the last Meadowlands show, that’s the last one while I’m sick.”

Bruce Springsteen 2024 setlist: Every song he sang at the world tour relaunch in Phoenix

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's rescheduled 2024 shows mark 'a new tour'

The Springsteen and E Street Band tour last year was marked by several postponements.

Two shows at Citizens Bank Ballpark last August were postponed due to the Boss “having been taken ill,” according to Springsteen's social media handles. Three other 2023 shows — March 9 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio; March 12 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut; and March 14 at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York — were also postponed due to an undisclosed illness.

All the shows have been rescheduled .

The 2023 tour was also marked by the illness of band members due to COVID-19. Steven Van Zandt, Nils Lofgren, Jake Clemons, Soozie Tyrell and Lisa Lowell all missed shows.

“When we first started that tour, every night somebody else was out. So I go into soundcheck and I have to find out who's missing and then I have to rearrange the stage or all of the arrangements of the songs to cover for that person,” Springsteen said. “Eddie Manion stepped up and covered for Jake Clemens on the saxophone. I brought Anthony Almonte to the front when Steve (Van Zandt) couldn't make it. Nils (Lofgren) couldn't make it another night. Susie (Tyrell) missed another night, Lisa (Lowell) — I mean it was just one after another.

"The only thing, we were blessed was Max (Weinberg) didn't fall. Garry (Tallent) didn't fall. Your rhythm section. And our two keyboardists were there. So as long as we had those people we could do a show.”

Springsteen is viewing the 2024 tour as a new tour and not an extension of the 2023 tour. That means more flexibility with the setlists, he said.

“There will be some things from last year's tour that will hold over some of my basic themes of mortality and life and those things I'm going to keep in the set, but I think I'm going to move around the other parts a lot more. So there’ll be a much wider song selection going on," he said.

Springsteen and the E Street Band relaunched the tour March 19 in Phoenix; the tour has 52 shows scheduled through November 2024.

Bruce Springsteen details how his tour has evolved

“Viva, viva Las Vegas!” Bruce said at the start of the call.

During the 12-minute conversation, Bruce revealed whether The E Street Band will change their setlist during this year’s tour, shared how it felt returning to the stage in Arizona , and reflected on his tour act has evolved .

“I think we’re approaching [the 2024 World Tour] like it’s a new tour,” Bruce said. “There will be some things from last year’s tour that will hold over; some of my basic themes of mortality and life. Those things I’m gonna keep set, but I think I’m gonna move around the other parts of the set a lot more. So there’ll be a much wider song selection going on.”

He also looked back at his health problems last year that caused him and the band to postpone their world tour.

“When I had the stomach problem, one of the big problems was that I couldn’t sing,” Bruce said. “You sing with your diaphragm. My diaphragm was hurting so badly that when I went to make the effort to sing, it was killing me. So I literally couldn’t sing at all. And that lasted for two or three months, along with just a myriad of other painful problems. During the course of it – before people told me, ‘Oh no, it’s going to go away and you’re going to be OK’ – you know, you’re thinking, ‘Hey, am gonna sing again?’ This is one of the things I love to do the best, most. And right now, I can’t do it.”

Fortunately, Bruce’s voice is back – and so is his world tour! Check out the remaining tour dates below.

Breakthrough TOUR title eludes Cameron Young once again

Finishes second at valspar for seventh tour runner-up.

Change Text Size

When will Cameron Young win on the PGA TOUR?

It’s a question he’d prefer not to speculate around, but his runner-up at the Valspar Championship marks yet another close call for the uber-talented, elite-driving Wake Forest alum.

Young finished solo second at the Valspar, two strokes back of Peter Malnati, for his seventh career runner-up finish on TOUR without a victory. Young, 26, has been known for some time as one of the best players yet to win on TOUR, and this week furthers that narrative.

Young shared fifth place into the final round at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course, but he surged into serious contention with birdies on Nos. 11, 12 and 14 on a Sunday defined by leaderboard volatility. He shared the lead with Peter Malnati (11-under) with two holes to play Sunday, facing an 18-foot birdie try at the par-3 17th hole. But Young missed, Malnati made birdie in the group behind, and Young pulled his tee shot well left at the par-4 finishing hole – leading to a nearly stifled angle for his approach where he did well to get onto the green, but then three-putted from 51 feet. Malnati closed with a par for a two-stroke victory at 12-under 272.

Cameron Young regains share of lead with birdie on No. 12 at Valspar

Young admitted his final tee shot was “a bad time for a pull,” but he took positives from the week overall, his third top-10 in eight starts this season. He’s 8-for-8 in made cuts as well, as his high-potential game continues to build consistency.

“I think I kept myself in it mentally really well today,” said Young, who carded rounds of 69-69-68-68 at the Copperhead Course. “I hit a couple shots I was really proud of late … I think I handled my own thoughts really well and, for me, that’s a big win regardless of the outcome.”

Young’s runner-up resume is eclectic: 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship, The Genesis Invitational 2022, 2022 Wells Fargo Championship, The Open Championship 2022, 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic, 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, and now the 2024 Valspar Championship. He has finished runner-up across various course styles and conditions, in different times of the year, and now in four consecutive years.

The solace: he’s close, and a breakthrough seems inevitable. He’ll keep plugging away.

“Honestly, I realized I wasn’t going to win pretty quickly, and I have a four-hour drive home with a 1- and a 2-year-old,” Young said afterward. Safe to say his mind will be elsewhere before long.
