How to Make Your Own Easy DIY Disney Cruise Door Magnets

Melissa Mortenson

Taking a Disney Cruise is one of my family’s favorite ways to vacation and definitely one of the best cruises for kids . There’s something for everyone in our family to do and enjoy. As a mom, I have to say that it’s one of the few times on a family vacation when I feel like I have gotten a vacation too! Our kids loved the kids’ clubs when they were younger, and adored connecting with other teens in the Vibe club as they were older.

Disney Cruise regulars know that decorating their cabin doors is just one way to rachet up an already wonderful family vacation experience. Here, we tell you where you can buy these magnets. Even better, we offer templates and step-by-step guides to making your own super cute Disney Cruise door magnets so you can save money and make the decorations all your own.

Stateroom Door Decoration Tips for Your First Disney Cruise

Years ago, a clever person (I always wondered who it was) realized that the stateroom doors on a Disney cruise are metal and, therefore, magnets will stick to them. In the years since, decorating your door has become a beloved Disney Cruise tradition whether you’re sailing on the Disney Magic , Dream, Wish, Fantasy or Wonder.

Where can I get Disney Stateroom Door Magnets?

There are a lot of places that sell magnets designed for a DCL stateroom door. You can find them on Etsy or Amazon . You can also make your own magnets! It’s super easy, and you DO NOT need to be crafty to do this!

Making your own Disney Cruise Line magnets is a great way to save money for your vacation! We have a free printable template for you and the supplies to create the magnets are affordable (you might even have a lot of them around your house already).

What Types of Magnets Do You See on Doors on a Disney Cruise?

There are so many fun ways to celebrate on your Disney Cruise; door magnets are just one of them. If you’re on a special sailing like the Marvel, Pixar or Star Wars Day at Sea, you’ll see a lot of themed magnets on doors.

You’ll also see a lot of seasonal magnets for those on a Holiday or Halloween cruise. We cruised one year on Easter and there were a lot of cute Mickey Mouse magnets with Easter Bunny ears on doors.

You will often see several magnets on the door, with family names. This comes in handy if your teens make friends with other kids in the Teen Club. That way their friends can leave them notes on the small fish clipboard next to the cabin door.

Other Ways to Decorate a Disney Cruise Stateroom Door

In addition to magnets, you’ll also find small whiteboards and fish extenders on doors.

The whiteboards allow families traveling together in separate cabins to leave messages for one other. (We used them a lot when we traveled with our kids when they were teens since we let them roam the ship with their friends).

A fish extender is a bag or pouch (like a skinny over-the-door shoe organizer) hung from the metal fish next to each cabin door on a cruise ship. It has a pocket and people leave messages and treats for one another in the pockets.

Free Disney Door Magnets Printable

We have a fun — and free! — printable Mickey Door Decoration for you.

The free printable includes several Mickey silhouettes with different hats so you can make one for each member of your family.

Included are:

  • Simple Mickey Mouse
  • Minnie Mouse with Bow (in 3 different colors)
  • Pirate Mickey (swap out your other Disney magnet with this one on Pirate Night on the ship)
  • Sailor Mickey
  • Santa Hat Mickey (great for Holiday sailings)
  • Witch Hat Mickey (if you’re lucky enough to be sailing on a Halloween on the High Seas voyage).
  • “The ______ Family” Mickey – ready for you to personalize with letter stickers.

How To Make Disney Cruise Door Magnets

  • Cardstock or Printable Magnetic Sheets
  • Adhesive Magnetic Strips if using Cardstock
  • Letter Stickers
  • Lamination Machine (you can also have them laminated at an office supply store)

Print on magnet paper and cut out.

Print on Cardstock, Laminate, and add magnets.

This is the method I prefer. It’s more cost-effective as printable magnet sheets can be expensive. You are also more likely to run into printing problems due to the thickness of the sheets.

Lamination is inexpensive and easy, you can take the door magnets to your local copy shop to have them laminated, or use a home laminator. There are a lot of great ones on the market.

Also, using this method makes it easy to add letter stickers to your images to personalize your magnets.

How Do I Personalize the Magnets?

There are a few ways to personalize the Disney Cruise magnet template freebie that we have for you.

  • You can upload the PDF to an online graphics software (like PicMonkey or Canva)
  • If you have a machine like a Cricut, you can cut out letters from Vinyl and adhere them to the cardstock.
  • You can use letter stickers.

If you’re someone who’s not super crafty, I recommend going the letter sticker route. There’s not any technology to fuss with and you don’t need any special craft tools. Just a pair of sharp scissors.

What Free Disney Font Should I Use?

If you choose to customize your magnet using online software like PicMonkey or cut out a name with a Cricut machine, you’re going to want to use a fun Disney font!

If you want to go for classic Disney, I recommend Waltograph. You can also infuse a bit of other “Disney Magic’ into your design by using an Avengers-inspired font like Avengero. Or a Nemo-inspired font like Lost Fish.

How to Assemble Your Family Disney Magnets

Print out the template from our free download. The download contains several pages, you only need to print the pages with the images you’d like to use.

Step One: Print

Be sure to print the image on cardstock, so your magnet will hold up well!

If you want to personalize your magnet, you can use one of the options I mentioned above.

Step Two: Personalize

I personalized my magnets using letter stickers I got at the craft store.

SheBuysTravel Tip : Line up your letter stickers on a ruler first. Just place the bottom edge of the sticker on the edge of the ruler. You can rearrange the stickers and check the placement before you adhere them to your Mickey’s head.

When you’ve got the stickers in the place you’d like, adhere the stickers starting with the top, then gently pull away from the ruler from underneath.

Step 3: Finishing

To finish your customized cruise door magnet, simply run the image through a laminator and cut it out with scissors.

Adhere some magnet strips to the back so that they will stick to your stateroom door.

SheBuysTravel Tip : You’re going to need more magnets than you think you do! We also recommend taking a few extra adhesive magnet strips with you on your cruise in case any of the magnets fall off during transport.

If you have a hot glue gun, you can use it to adhere the magnet strips to the back. It will be a bit more secure than the glue that comes already applied to the magnet strip.

Where to Buy Disney Cruise Door Decorations

If you don’t want to DIY a cute set of Disney door magnets, don’t stress! You can easily buy some. Just make sure you order them with plenty of time for them to arrive before your Disney Cruise Line Vacation.

If you want a set of personalized magnets I recommend Etsy . There are several sellers there that will customize your magnet set with names or dates.

You can also find several styles of magnets on Amazon .

This really works for people? I was so excited when I discovered Avery Magnet Sheets before our first disney cruise in February, but when we boarded the boat and started to put them on our door they all immediately fell to the ground. Tried putting them on other peoples doors and no luck either. We bought some tiny magnets from the gift shop and those stuck nice and good. I assumed magnet paper just wasn’t very good and tossed them out. What did I do wrong? Could I have demagnetized them in my luggage by stacking them on top of each other? Xray machine?

Hi Matt, I’m so sorry you had that problem. Ours stayed on the door, except for one small one that my daughter had bent in the middle. I’m not sure if stacking them could have demagnetized them but I did separate each of ours with paper so you never know. We also drove so ours didn’t go through an x-ray machine. I’m sorry I can’t be more help but I’m not exactly sure why they didn’t work.

No worries, I appreciate the response. I guess we’ll just have to go on another until we find ones that stick 😉

Hi!! What size did you make the full size Mickey/Minnie heads?

They were just big enough to fit on a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Unfortunately we are moving and they are packed away or I would measure them (usually we keep them on the fridge).

What type of printer did you use with the Magnet paper? Also, did you have to laminate these or are they good right after printing?

I just used a regular printer (I have the HP Envy) and set it for thick paper. Once I printed them, I cut them out and they were good to go…no laminating necessary. Have an amazing cruise!!!

Hi- I need help wtih the minnie… I’m trying to upload it into Canva and it’s saying it can’t upload a PDF, but that’s how it saved nad I can’t change. Advice?

I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner! You may have already figured it out but you’ll have to find a program that converts your Minnie to JPG. I don’t know if this works for you but I can also use my printer to scan something to a memory card and select whether I want it saved as a PDF or JPEG. If you can do that with your printer, that would probably be easiest. Good luck!

No, concierge staterooms on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have wooden doors. Using glue, tape or any adhesive, including removable gel adhesives is prohibited as it will damage the door.

How to make Disney Cruise Door Magnets with the Cricut Maker.

If like me you are a crafter you will know you can cut a multitude of materials with the Cricut Maker and one of those is Magnetic Print And Cut Paper! I discovered this after a year of loving my Cricut Maker, but print and cut has revolutionised how I craft.

So here goes, step by step, how to make Magical Disney Cruise Door Decorations?

In Cricut Design Space start by selecting 3 circles.

Resize the circles to create a Mickey shape, it takes a bit of perfecting but use your eye and you will get there eventually.

Once you are happy with your shape, right click select all and weld the shape together to create a Mouse template.

How to create Mickey Door Magnets for Disney Cruise

Right click and duplicate until you have several black Mouse shapes.

For Mickey, slice a circle in half and colour this red. Then select a new circle, resize and shape to a small oval and colour it yellow for buttons and duplicate.

 Mickey Door Magnets

Once you are happy with Mickey right click and flatten.

For Minnie and the pirate bandana, choose your bow or bandana shape in design space. If you can’t find one, choose an image of a pirate, ungroup and delete unwanted images.

Colour the bow/ bandana to the correct shade of red.

Minnie Door Magnets with Cricut Maker

Now select a circle for the polka dots. Resize colour the circle white and keep duplicating over the bow/ bandana until you are happy. I find it better to resize every now and them to create a variety of sizes.

Once you are happy right click and weld the dots to the bow/bandana.

Now position over your Minnie/Mickey shape and flatten.

To create the AHOY, search in design space, also search for Mickey, simply overlay, recolour and then flatten.

Lastly you can add your name or create mini name discs. Or you can personalise with a white marker once cut out.

Once you are happy with the size of your images you can send to print and cut on magnetic paper.

When you set sail on a Disney Cruise , part of the fun is most definitely decorating your door!! Many many cruisers decorate their doors on a Disney Cruise!

disney cruise door decorations diy

Disney Cruise Decoration Ideas

Similar to how campers decorate their campsites, many cruisers decorate their cabin doors! We have seen many cruise door decorations on many different cruises, but Disney Cruise Line ships definitely seem to take the cake.

You can decorate your stateroom door with magnetic decorations (all doors on Disney Cruises are metal, minus the wooden doors on concierge staterooms on the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy and Disney Wish). Scotch tape would work too, if your decorations do not have magnets on them.

Our fellow Disney cruisers had door decorating down to a science!

Common Cruise Door Decorations

Some of the most common cruise door decorations on a Disney Cruise:

  • Dry erase board
  • Magnets (store bought and DIY)
  • Fish Extenders (these hang on the fish hook NEXT to your door)
  • Signs or pictures hung on the door with tape or Command Strips

Where to buy personalized magnets for your cruise

One of our favorite things to take on a Disney Cruise are personalized Disney Cruise magnets. I actually make our own magnets. I use my Silhouette Cameo to cut them, design them in Canva or PicMonkey, and laminate them before placing some adhesive -backed magnets on them.

You could also use printable magnet paper and print your own images on simple magnets using your home printer.

If you don’t have the time or the desire or the know-how you make your own magnets, you can find a wide variety of them for sale! Etsy has hundreds of personalized Disney Cruise magnets to purchase.

You can also search online for blogs that offer printable magnets.

Decorations can be a fun way to show off your favorite characters, any special occasions you’re celebrating like birthdays and anniversaries, etc. If you don’t care about having personalized Disney Cruise door magnets, look for Disney magnets (or cruise ship, beach, etc magnets) at the Dollar Tree and on amazon .

We took these pictures on our family vacation on the Disney Magic.

Can you tell what time of year these cruise door pictures were taken? If you guessed Halloween, you are correct! This was on our Halloween Disney Cruise to Bermuda! (Disney calls these cruise itineraries “Halloween on the High Seas.” Many cruise doors reflected the Halloween theme.

I made up these free printable Mickey-inspired signs that you can save, print and personalize for YOUR Disney Cruise! You can even save them to your computer and open them in a photo editing software (for example Photoshop or PicMonkey ) and add your text before you print.

There are 3 designs to print on – you can have any or all that you’d like!

I recommend printing them on white cardstock. To reinforce them even more, you might want to run them through a laminator (I have this one !).

Disney Cruise Line Staterooms

We kept hearing even before we left that Disney does cruises the best.  As I researched more into this, I learned that it wasn’t just because of the top notch service and accommodations, but also because of the interaction encouraged between guests!  Of those, there are parties to attend, mixers, classes to take and fun Disney cruise door decorations and fish extenders in the ships dorm areas!  The doors on the Disney ships are magnetic and people purchase or make their own Disney cruise door magnets to put on the outside of their door.  For us I loved the idea of using Disney cruise door decorations as a way for our kids to easily locate our room and participating in the fun!  In our hallway nearly every single door was decorated and many people purchased some very pretty magnets from ETSY stores.  However, there were a ton of other people who made their own using Disney printables, using a pretty similar process as we did!

Get the Free Disney Cruise Door Magnets Printable

I was hoping to make our door interactive for folks to create their own combinations of characters or just dress up the Mickey Mouse head however they would like!  It was the Halloween cruise so a Frankenstein type character creations would be a really fun Disney cruise door decorations.  First I created the files in Silhouette studio by finding images on Google, tracing them and making files.  I had to do some creative work here and figured that I would save you the effort and offer the SVG, PDF, and JPEG files for you to download.  Just click here or on the photo below to access the files!

You can see how nice they printed out below.  After I printed them out I decided to cut them out by hand.  If you have a silhouette, you can also trace and cut them out that way, but I forgot to use the print marks so I just cut them myself.  It really only took about 10 minutes, so that wasn’t a big deal.

Now Get to Work on your Disney Printables

Once they were all cut out, I laminated them.  With my laminator , I had to cut them out prior to laminating because the lamination seals around the paper and not on the paper.  Depending on how your laminator works you may only have to cut them out once.

After the Disney Cruise door magnets were laminated, I had to re-cut them out by hand, this actually went much quicker because it didn’t have to be perfect and the lamination was clear so if I didn’t have my corners perfect, you really couldn’t tell!

DIY Disney cruise door decorations

We did end up having to add extra magnet pieces to each of the magnets because we were one of the ONLY doors on the entire ship that had been demagnetized!  We didn’t realize this until after we added more magnets and it still didn’t work.  Totally threw off the fun idea of “Frankensteining” the Mickey Mouses! I will tell you that the magnets stuck just fine to other doors before we added more magnets and then they stuck even better, it was just our door that was not magnetic!

Luckily our awesome neighbors had painters tape and came in and saved the day helping ensure our Disney cruise door magnets stayed attached!  We were able to stick our little guys up and although people couldn’t move them around and play with them, they still looked very cute!  I wish the lighting wasn’t so hard, but you get the gist!  If you are interested in purchasing any of the supplies to make your own, you can shop my links below!

I didn't think the doors were magnetic, just steel. Were you perhaps in concierge? Thos doors have wood panels over the steer making it harder for the magnets to stick, and those flexible magnet strips/sheets are very weak magnets. We're going on our first Disney cruise in February on the Fantasy. I'm planning to add strong earth magnets to overcome the distance from magnet to steel door. Thanks so much for sharing your printables!

Sunday 18th of August 2019

Hi! Not in concierge, We were on Deck 2 and all the doors around us were magnetic, just unfortunately not ours. We tried our magnets on everyone else's doors with those magnet strips and they worked great :) Our door just failed lol.!

Hi, I love the magnets and will be making them soon, thanks! Do you also have an article on how you made your fish extender in the picture? Thanks.

Hi Laura, Your magnets are great! I will definitely make them before my cruise. Do you also have a webpage on how you made your fish extender that is shown in the picture? It looks fantastic and I wanted to try to make that also, thanks.

I have not actually written that post yet. It is in my drafts waiting to be published. However, basic instructions are that I purchased this (https://amzn.to/2W5KOmQ) and then I purchased fabric and ribbon to cover the front of the pockets using hot glue. Before I affixed anything, I used heat transfer vinyl to cut out our names and the mickey and minnie heads and then ironed those onto the grey fabric, then used hot glue to attach the grey fabric to the pocket organizer, then I used the ribbon to finish off the edges. Thanks!

Decorating Your Stateroom Door with Custom Magnets

If you have ever been on a Disney Cruise you will most likely remember seeing door decorations.  If not, then you will be in for a surprise when walking the hallways.  Some stateroom doors are fully covered, while other just have a Disney Vacation Club Welcome Home magnet.  All the stateroom doors on the ships are metal except for the concierge rooms on the Dream & Fantasy which have a beautiful wood laminate.  The white stateroom doors make a perfect canvas to display your custom door magnets.

Disney Magic Stateroom 6634 Door Magnets

There are many ways to create door magnets, of course there’s always my way .   (See that, It’s October so I stuck in a Haunted Mansion reference!)  When I first started making door magnets I looked at a handful of options including magnetic inkjet paper , but I was not happy with the end results.  If you looked over any of my cruise photos , you already know I prefer vibrant images.  After trying a few different methods I found a method that worked, and best of all it is quite cheap.

Step 1: Creating A Graphic

The first step is coming up with a design.  First, determine how large of  a magnet you want to have on your door.  I try to keep to an 8×10, 5×7, or a 4×6 canvas size, as it makes for easier printing. However, the final graphic and be any size, such as this wine bottle graphic.

Door Magnet Ratatouille June 2016

For each cruise we create one large magnet on an 8 inch by 10 inch canvas.  Sometimes the design is based on a theme like Halloween, or Valentines Day. Other times, as was the case of the Little Mermaid magnet, it was a request from my daughter.

Door Magnet August 2010 Disney Wonder

We also have bumper sticker sized magnets with each of our names featuring some of our favorite Disney characters.

Door Magnet Character Nameplate - Emily

To make the individual magnets with each of our names I found a bold font that I liked and collected clip art of our favorite characters. Using Photoshop I placed the characters and applied the necessary masking.

Door Magnet Names Photoshop Screenshot

It is completely up to you, if you want to personalize the graphics with your name.  I’ve found that unpersonalized magnets have the tendency to grow legs, and disappear.  For  example, we’ve had some of the small Pascal magnets disappear.

So, what if you are not the artistic type?  Check out some of the Disney online fan sites/forums.  There are a few great designers that have a catalog of design templates available, and will be happy to customize them just for you, FREE of charge (see rules below) .

Step 2: Printing Your Door Magnet Design

This is the easiest part of the process, printing your graphic.  Just treat your graphic like a digital photograph you want to get printed, and upload or take the file to to your local one hour photo center.  I always select glossy prints, even though they are susceptible to fingerprints.  The photo lab will print your image/graphic just as they would any other photograph. (note: while I’ve never had an issue printing, but you may encounter a shop that will not print Disney graphics. Just go to another location.)

Step 3: Printed Graphic to Finished Door Magnet

This entire process came about one day when I found a roll of Magnetic Adhesive Sheets at the craft store.  I buy the the larger 1’x2′ rolls, but they also come in smaller sizes.  You can usually purchase a roll for less than $10 at Michaels with a for a 40% off coupon often offered in the weekly  Michaels online ad .

Start by unrolling the magnetic sheet to flatten it out. You might need to reverse roll it to get it to lay flat or put a book on it for a few minutes.  Then, peel back just enough of the protective sheet on the magnetic paper and place your first picture.

At this point I put a sheet of paper on top of the printed photo to protect the image, and used a rolling pin to get out any air bubbles and make sure there was good adhesion. Similar to the way a roller is used when laminate counter-tops are installed.

The last step is to trim your graphic from the magnetic sheet.  An Exacto knife works great for this job as the magnetic sheets are quite easy to cut in fact they can easily tear so be careful.

#1 DO NOT use tape, or any other adhesive on the stateroom door. (Click here to read about the policy change April 2013) The most updated policy can be found on Disney Cruise LIne’s website here and I would also recommend cross referencing the prohibited items list if you are planning to go above and beyond a simple door magnet.

#2 DO NOT use tape, or any other adhesive on the stateroom door. Yes, I repeated this rule.  Do not do it, widespread use of tape could lead to a ban on all door decorations.  That would not be cool.

#3 DO NOT pay for design work that use any Disney related graphics!!!!  The only exception is buying officially licensed graphics, such as a scrapbook page or even the door magnets DCL is selling in the gift shops.

#4 Have fun

Last year we stayed in a Concierge room on the Fantasy. We made magnets for the door which stuck to the metal door in our garage just fine but didn’t stick to the wood laminate door on the ship. I had read that they DO work on those doors but none of the ones that we made or bought would stay on the door 🙁

' src=

Magnets don’t stick to wood. Ever.

' src=

If the magnet is strong enough it will work as the doors are still steel beneath the laminate.

' src=

Maybe because it was a “concierge” room the door being wood/wood laminate was probably the problem because we’ve stayed on The Dream & The Fantasy both on deck 7 and had no trouble with our magnets staying on.

' src=

I read somewhere that the magnets had to be really strong to stay on the doors. I bought the magnetic laser paper at Hobby Lobby that has a magnetic strength of 1 which sticks to my fridge just fine but I am worried they won’t stick to our ship door. I ended up going and buying additional magnets with a stronger strength just in case I have to hold them up another way. Hopefully one of those will work out. I hope I didn’t just waste a bunch of money for nothing! Does anyone have any input on this? Thank you!

Tammy, we have never had an issue with magnets sticking to the stateroom doors. The only issue would be if you are staying in concierge on the Dream & Fantasy as those doors have a wood veneer over the steel door.

Thanks, Scott! We are going on the Magic so hopefully we will be fine.

Hi I am computer illiterate and came across this blog in hopes of finding a magnet making tutorial using graphics already created, please help!!

' src=

You’ll need sheet magnet. We have white magnet and self adhesive magnet.

' src=

I printed my graphic on photo paper then encased it in clear plastic with my heat sealing machine (Hobby Lobby). I then cut the peel and stick sheet magnet to fit my graphic. It holds on the door with no problem.

' src=

We used the magnetic computer paper from Office Depot to make magnets for our door. Sadly, most of them slid down (not magnetic enough) and those that didn’t slide would fall off every time we shut the door. 🙁 Our plan is to re-use them next time but add stronger magnets. We will first add felt to the magnets though, so they don’t scratch up the door.

' src=

FYI – Inkjet magnetic paper (Avery or other brands) work nicely on non-concierge staterooms in the Dream and Fantasy, however, they don’t work as well in the older ships (Magic and Fantasy) due to the additional coats of paint. I have a feeling that folks will have more problems on the Magic after the dry dock as I’m sure all the doors will have another fresh coat of paint.

Fantasy? That isn’t an older ship. Did you mean to say Wonder?

' src=

Scott, what fond did you use for the individual names, and how close did you change the leading?

' src=

Have you ever used Neodymium Magnets, or know anyone who has?

I have not use them however I’ve seen them used. Just have to make sure they don’t slide and scratch the paint.

' src=

Does the roll of magnets thin strips work on the disney fantasy door!

Magnet strips will, as long as you have a large enough strip to hold up the item on the door so it will not slide down or pop off when the door closes.

Use a whole back sheet magnet. 20 mil thick should do.

I use full sheet as graphics sometimes curl. With the full sheet covering the back of your graphic it sticks well and lies flat. No worries of did-I-put-enough-strips-on, they work beautifully.

' src=

Hi Scott – How can I contact the owner of the “Door-Magnet-Reimagined-Magic-October-2013” as I would like to have it updated for a January 2015 cruise, if possible. Thank you.

The original design for this door magnet was a print by Don “Ducky” Williams. I modified the base image to create the custom door magnet.

Scott, would happen to have a template of the Disney Dream door? We will be taking a cruise the end of August. I recall from an earlier cruise that the security peep hole is below the large porthole cabin number. I’ve made a Donald Duck magnet; the sailor hat above and his duckbill below. I need to cut a circle so the bill fits around the peephole and need placement template.

Sorry, I do not have a door template.

' src=

Do you know where can I find the ship logo font (Dream, Fantasy, Magic, Wonder)? Thanks!

' src=

I would like the the ship logo as well….. Wonder

Hello, I am interested in making some magnets for my door. Can anyone tell me what program they use to do this. Also what tidbits of info do I need to know to make this a success for me. Thanks Charles

I use Photoshop, but there are many different and even free applications that you can get to create designs.

Have you used any of the free apps or know anything about any of them

I have not, but I didn’t not want to suggest buying/subscribing to Photoshop just to design one door magnet graphic.

' src=

how big are the holes where the numbers are, if you want to add ears to turn it into a mickey head?

' src=

hi Scott what size should the magnets be? For example the one that says Mickey head you have with the horse above is that an 8×10? thanks

The Mickey head with the Headless Horseman started out as an 8×10 and was cut to the shape.

' src=

Sadly I don’t have knowledge of Photoshop or have a printer in decent condition. It can print out a grocery list and that’s it.

Where would you suggest I buy a magnet package? I’d love to get a Christmas one. We’ll be on the Merry Christmas cruise in early Dec. ’15.

Any help is really appreciated!

' src=

What types of magnets do you recommend? I have seen all sorts of recommendations and concerns over the different options. I thought I still had a whole roll of magnetic tape in my office, but can’t find it. So, I have to buy something and don’t want to spend a fortune. BUT, don’t want them falling off the door.

John, I am still a big fan of the magnetic sheets mentioned in the article. Finding Michaels coupons are your best bet.

' src=

Just wondering for anyone that has sailed on the Wonder recently; have you had any prob;ems with the sheet magnets sticking?

' src=

What do they mean by Disney graphics not being used?

' src=

Scott – Would you consider making a headless horseman magnet for a “donation” wink wink? If you are interested, please let me know!

No, but if you send me an email on what you need I will do it for free.

' src=

I would love for someone to make me some peronsalized Halloween deco for our cruise next September 2017. I’m happy to print them and laminate but I’m kinda not to savvy on the photoshop and creating images etc. ??

' src=

What is the diameter of the inside circle of the porthole on the stateroom door?

' src=

Is there someone who can make the rectangular name template for me please? Thanks!

' src=

Thankyou to everyone on here. Shame that I had to cancel our Disney Halloween cruise for 2021 (first cruise ever), but we will go in 2022 or 23 and this has answered all my questions about magnets for our door. Very helpful.

Decorating with Disney Cruise Door Magnets and Decorations

Posted on Published: 01/10/2024

If you are going on a Disney Cruise Line cruise for the first time, you may not realize that many cruisers decorate their stateroom doors with Disney Cruise door magnets. The stateroom doors are magnetic, and with just a little bit of work, you can put together some great things to decorate your Disney Cruise Line stateroom door and make it stand out.

Disclosure: Affiliate links within. Purchasing and/or clicking on some of the links in this post may result in a commission paid to us. I’ve been on one media cruise as well as two cruises as part of Disney Social Media Moms (as well as many cruises at my own cost), but all opinions are my own.

Decorating your stateroom door is a fun way to celebrate your family vacation and an easy way to spot your stateroom door. If you are traveling on the Disney Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Wish, Disney Wonder, or Disney Fantasy , here’s everything you need to know about Disney Cruise stateroom door magnets.

Why Make or Buy Disney Cruise Door Magnets to Decorate Your Door?

Cruise door decorations aren’t required at all. I’ve cruised a few times without them, because I’d either forgotten to pack them, or I didn’t realize they were an option. Disney cruise door magnets make it easier to spot your door among a sea of doors, and they are so fun to look at.

My kids love looking at all of the Disney Cruise door decorations as we walk through the hallways. It’s a great way to decorate your room and make it feel like your own. But it is completely optional, and you’ll see other doors that aren’t decorated among the sea of decorated doors.

How Do You Find Graphics For Your Disney Cruise Door Magnets or Where to Buy Disney Cruise Door Magnets?

Thinking about doing a Disney cruise door magnets DIY? You can certainly create your graphics, especially if you are familiar with using PicMonkey, Canva, or Photoshop.

Or, for a partial DIY, there are many different Facebook groups with designers offering fun free printable Disney door magnets. Just search Facebook for the different groups.

You can also choose to purchase custom graphics from the many sellers on Etsy that offer them. Some of the sellers offer digital files that you need to download, while others will ship you the magnets already made.

Make sure that you look at the item descriptions carefully. If you are getting custom-made magnets, you’ll want to make sure that you order them with plenty of time for them to arrive before your vacation.

What Types of Disney Magnets Do People Use?

If this is your first Disney Cruise, you may wonder what stateroom door magnets most people use. The sky’s the limit! I’ve seen so many wonderful creative stateroom door decorations.

Many people make a magnet for each family member. You could choose each family member’s favorite character as an inspiration for their magnet.

Others make a magnet for each cruise that they’ve been on – adding a new one with travel dates for each new cruise. It’s fun to add the cruise itinerary to these magnets too – especially for those ships with lots of different itineraries.

When we traveled on the Disney Fantasy a few years ago, it was on my son’s birthday. So we had a big Happy Birthday magnet for him on the door. We save all of the magnets from each sailing and reuse them.

So now that we’ve been on seven Disney cruises as a family, we have a pretty big collection! If you plan on saving them and reusing them, I’d recommend making smaller magnets so you’ll have room for all of them as your collection grows.

As my kids have gotten older and are less excited about magnets, we’ve focused more on purchasing completed magnets from Etsy sellers. I typically buy a new one for each sailing.

In recent years, I’ve seen such creative doors that even go beyond just magnets. I’ve seen Haunted Mansion themes, lollipop boards, Christmas lights, and other creative themes. I’d encourage you to get as creative as possible – but just be sure to stay within the rules and don’t do any damage to the doors.

How To Make Disney Cruise Door Magnets

Many of the resources listed above will provide you with a digital file to print out yourself and make into a magnet. While some people choose to print them directly on magnetic paper sheets, I prefer a stronger magnet. I have found that the magnet paper sheets aren’t very strong, and can often fall off the door.

I print out the graphics on regular printer paper, laminate them with my laminator , cut them out, and then attach magnets. I put all of my custom stateroom door decorations in a folder to keep them from bending.

Don’t forget to take them off of your door when you leave – we’ve almost forgotten them a few times! It’s always sad when you remove them and see a plain door again. I usually do it the night before I leave so I don’t forget.

The entrance to the Disney cruise port

Where to Buy Disney Cruise Door Magnets

If you’d prefer not to do any DIY, there are still plenty of options. I’ve seen Disney magnets in the shops on board, but that’s not always a guarantee. Plus, you’ll probably want something a little more unique and original. I’d recommend searching on Etsy for magnets that you don’t have to print.

You can also purchase a selection of personalized magnets on Amazon . Just make sure that you know if you are getting an electronic file or a physical product in the mail.

White Board for Your Disney Cruise Door

Wondering what other things to put on your Disney cruise room door? A whiteboard is great to have, especially if you have family members headed off in different directions. You can easily leave notes on the board.

In years past, silver, gold, and platinum Castaway Club members received a small whiteboard as a gift, but I haven’t seen a whiteboard as a gift in a while.

@Jillian, I got magnets at Michaels. It was a while ago, but they are something like this: https://www.michaels.com/pro-mag-magnetic-strips-.5in-x-4in/10579052.html

We have a cruise planned soon on the Fantasy. I read somewhere that not all doors are metal that some are wood. I had planned on ordering magnets, but not sure what I can place on a wood door? Thanks!

Tuesday 3rd of March 2020

Hi Lisa, I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure the wood doors are in the concierge area. If you have a wood door, I don't think there's anything you can put on it, but I'm not entirely sure.

We are planning a Disney cruise and my question is ... can I attach a ribbon or fabric bow to my Minnie door decoration?

Sure, I would just make sure it doesn't make it too heavy so the magnets don't hold.

Sunday 12th of July 2015

Hi, leaving on a cruise 7/19, just wondering if the door decorating has to be Disney related? Are we allowed to put spirited college or local football team logos on the door? Just asking because everything I've seen up until now has been Disney related on the door, and I don't have time to buy Disney magnets at this point :( Thanks!!

Easy DIY Disney Cruise Door Magnets

Disney Cruise Door Magnets - Finished Decorations

I just returned from my very first Disney Cruise thanks to the 2017 Disney Social Media Moms Land & Sea Celebration. As I was preparing for the trip, I found out that one of the fun ways cruisers add a little Disney magic to a Disney Cruise Line experience is to decorate their stateroom doors. Ever since someone discovered that the doors aboard the ships are magnetic, the Disney crafting faithful got to work making elaborate magnet creations to express their Disney style.

Disney Cruise Door Magnets - Disney Wonder

The easiest way to get something amazing for your Disney Cruise Line door is to order from a creative seller on Etsy ( Cocoabeans was a favorite of many Social Media Moms attendees). But time and budget don’t always allow for that. I know that plenty of crafty folks with nice color printers and fancy Cricut machines at home can make some impressive designs on their own too.

But what if you don’t have any special equipment or particularly impressive crafting skills and want to quickly make your own? Well, that was me as I got ready for my trip. Luckily, I discovered you can still have a cute decorated door too! With just a week to go before my trip, I made a quick jaunt to Michael’s to get supplies to make some decor for my family all in a single afternoon to prove it could be done (note that Amazon has a lot of these supplies too).

(Trips With Tykes uses affiliate links.  See our full disclosure policy here .)

Here’s how to hack a few cute and easy magnetic door decorations for a Disney cruise on the cheap.

Disney Cruise Door Magnets Supplies

Disney Cruise Door Magnets - Supplies

  • Mickey-inspired color patterned cardstock (red, yellow, black & white): $.49 x 4 for 4 sheets

Disney Cruise Door Magnets - Cardstock

  • Magnetic sticky paper : $2.99 x 2 for 2 sheets of magnetic paper

Disney Cruise Door Magnets - Magnetic Paper

  • Alphabet stickers : $3.99 for 2 sheets
  • Disney & cruise scrapbook stickers : I already had a ton of these in my house so there was no added costs, but sets can be found for $.99 and up.
  • Mickey head template to trace: I seriously used a Mickey pancake mold we happened to have in our kitchen. But you can easily print something out from the internet to trace if you don’t have a Mickey head shaped item in your house.

Disney Cruise Door Magnets - Mickey Pancake Mold

Total Cost : $12-20.00 depending on supplies you already have on hand

Instructions to Make Disney Cruise Door Magnets

  • Use the Mickey head template to trace Mickey shape on the back of your cardstock. Cut out Mickey shape carefully.
  • Use the Mickey head template to trace a matching Mickey shape on the back of the magnetic paper & cut out.
  • Peel off paper to expose sticky backing of magnetic paper and attach to the back of your cardstock.
  • Add stickers – letters, Disney designs, or cruise-themed choices – to the front of your cardstock to complete the design!

The final product was pretty darn cute and made us happy every time we returned to our stateroom on the cruise (plus it made our door easy to recognize). It’s a DCL tradition that was fun to participate in and didn’t require a ton of packing space or time, so I’d highly recommend giving it a try.

Disney Cruise Door Magnets - Decorated Stateroom Door

Disclosure: I was invited to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Land & Sea Celebration in 2017. Disney provided me and my family with discounted conference admission, tickets, and lodging. Disney and its conference sponsors also provided me with additional gifts during the event. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

How To Make Special Disney Cruise Line Door Magnets

August 26 by Janet 20 Comments

Some Disney Magic On Disney Cruise Line Ships

Disney cruise door magnets.

Are you going on a Disney Cruise Line cruise ? The first time we cruised Disney, I noticed that people decorated their cabin doors . I felt a little left out 🙂

Turns out, the cabin doors (except Concierge-level on the Dream and Fantasy) are magnetic. Over the years, the number of people decorating their doors has grown to where more doors are decorated than are not!

(This post may contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase from one of my links, I may receive a commission or credit at no additional cost to you. For more info, please read my  Affiliate Information Policy .)

For many cruises now, I have created personalized Mickey head magnets for our door. I also created other magnets and dry erase boards.

Note that Disney will not allow any tape or adhesive stickers or door hangers. You have to use magnets . The inside of the cabins is also magnetic so you can use magnets to hold papers and notes .

Steps To Create a Mickey Head Magnet

Create your magnet in word.

To create your Disney cruise magnet, first, select an image you want inside the Mickey outline. Be careful not to violate any copyrights. Save the image on your computer and remember where you saved it.

Click the Mickey outline below and right-click to save to your computer in the png format it is in.

Open Word to a new document . Click the Insert tab. Click Pictures and locate your character image and select it. You now have a Word document with your image in it.

Insert picture making cruise door magnets. DIY Disney cruise door magnets. Mickey head magnets.

Expand the image to the size you want to use.

Right-click on the image and select Wrap Text and Behind Text . Save the document.

Open the Insert tab again and click Pictures. Browse to the location where you saved the Mickey head outline and select it . Save the document.

Right-click the Mickey head outline and select Wrap Text and select In Front Of Text .

Resize either or both pictures until you have the Mickey head as you want it. Save the document. I also lowered the Word document zoom so I could see it all on one page.

Making cruise door magnets. DIY Disney cruise door magnets. Mickey head magnets.

If you want text on your magnet, click Insert Text Box . I picked Simple Text Box.

Move the text box to the area where you want text. Enter your text . Save the document.

Select the text box and the Format tab. Select Shape Fill and select No Fill .   Save the document.

Select the text and change it to the color you want. Save the document.

Making Disney Magnet for Cruise Line door. DIY Disney cruise door magnets. Mickey head magnets.

Tilt the text box if you want to.

Save the document. You now have a ready to print the document .

Take note that I suggest saving your document a lot. This comes from experience 🙂

Making cruise line magnets. DIY Disney cruise door magnets. Mickey head magnets.

Print the document you created. I use card stock because it is heavier. It just makes the magnet a little more stable but regular paper will also work.

Laminate and Cut Your Printed Mickey Head

Use a personal laminating machine or go to an office supply and have the magnet document laminated.

I personally have this  Scotch Thermal Laminating machine.

The machine comes with 20 letter-size sheets, or you can buy a pack . The machine is affordable and you would be surprised how many things need laminating 🙂

After laminating, carefully cut around the Mickey head outline, leaving a little laminating edge.

I usually run the magnet through the laminating machine one more time after cutting to be sure the edges are sealed. I just find this easier – but you can cut the design paper first, laminate and then cut again.

Your door magnet is almost ready !

The Last Preparation Step

The last thing you need to do is attach magnets . I usually get ones like these strong magnets , or you can use adhesive magnetic strips.  The magnet choice is yours, but I will tell you that I see ones on doors that slide down the door from opening and closing, so stronger magnet the better 🙂

You are now ready to start your door display !

We are going on a cruise with my niece. I have made designs and put in a word document. I am going to print on card stock then laminate. What do you recommend using for magnets and attaching to the cut outs/ designs ? Thank you for your time.

March 19 at 3:20 pm

Betty Jean, Disney Cruise is so so much fun! And I’m glad you were able to make door decorations. I have used different types of magnets and they all seem to work pretty well. I have used the kind that come in a roll and you cut them. It just seems that you have to use more of them than you might want to. Then I’ve also bought small round more heavy duty magnets and they work great, usually only need one per decoration. I would love to see what you have created 🙂

March 23 at 12:26 pm

How big did you make the magnet for around the door porthole. I can’t find a size for that anywhere?

March 23 at 7:57 pm

Shelley, I will have to do some checking and will get back to you. 🙂

March 23 at 8:09 pm

Shelley, Thank you for reading my post! The room number porthole is approx 7.5 inches in diameter. Just be sure your design has at least that opening. I would love to see what you make!

Thank you for the instructions! I’m struggling to save the template as a .png file…it’s only giving me an option to save as a WEBP file, which I’m unfamiliar with and my computer can’t open in Word. Any advice?

September 3 at 7:53 pm

Katie, Thank you for contacting me! Sorry I am a little late replying. I am not sure why it wants to save as a WEBP file – does the same when I try to download it. Try this link Mickey Head . If you still cannot get it, send me your email address and I will send as an attachment. Janet

Katie, I also have used https://convertio.co/webp-png/ (a free web app) for file conversions. It works great!

I came across your info through a youtube video I watched that used your design. After following your instructions I created 11 of them for our upcoming family cruise. I LOVE THEM!!!! I saved so much money doing them myself. I can’t thank you enough. I wish I knew how to upload the pictures so I can share them with you.

September 3 at 7:46 pm

Belle, You made my day!! So someone used my idea and created a youtube video? I am much more comfortable writing than being on camera, so good for them! I would love to see your creations. If you could take a picture and send it in an email to [email protected] that would be great! It is great that you saved money making them – that’s my way to go 🙂 When is your cruise? We are going on the Wish at the end of this month. Thank you for your kind comments! Janet

January 24 at 8:40 pm

Hello, I have tried to insert a picture in the Mickey head. I have done a bit in Word and am a bit familiar with it. The Mickey head is opaque and I can’t choose to have no colour inside. Then the picture I want to insert is covered. I have saved as a png, so I don’t think that is the issue. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance Joanne

Joanne, I am not sure what is happening. Would you send me the picture you are using and let me see if I can get it to work? You can send it to [email protected] . Thanks, Janet

DIY Disney Cruise Door Decorations + My Favorites I Found on Etsy

By: Author Tessa Smith

Posted on Last updated: June 2, 2020

This post contains affiliate links.

I took my daughters on a Disney Cruise last August. We loved it so much that we immediately booked (while still on board) another Disney Cruise. We leave next week and I am so excited about it! One thing we did not do for our last cruise but decided we could not miss out on it this time is door decorations. My 5 year old loved walking around the ship and pointing out the different door decorations that we found. She enjoyed reading all of the names on them and looking at pictures that were put up. There are tons of options on Etsy and Amazon , but my girls love being crafty (even though their mama really isn’t). So we went ahead and decided to make our door decorations this time.

Disney Cruise Door Decorations

Making your own door decorations for a Disney Cruise is pretty simple, especially if you are crafty! All you need is some construction paper , scissors, markers or crayons, and glue. Be sure to bring tape with you when you cruise so you can easily stick them to your door. If you are better with crafts, you can always grab sheets of magnets and work with those. If you have a Cricut than you are good to go!

Disney Cruise Door Decorations

My girls are 4 and 5 and wanted to make the door decorations for the whole family – and who am I to stop them! They turned out pretty cute if you ask me – hey, it’s the thought and effort that counts, right? They are so excited to show these off on our cruise!

Disney Cruise Door Decorations

You can pick up a white board or cork board to stick to your door too! People will leave you notes or draw fun pictures. We plan to bring a magnetic white board along with us!

All of the below photos were taken in November of 2016 on a Disney Merrytime Cruise on the Wonder so that is why you will see holiday themed doors mixed in. There are several ways people make these decorations. Most often people use their Cricut  or Silhoutte Machines and follow patterns similar to the ones found in this thread on Disboards. They laminate them and then use heavy duty magnets to make them stick to the door. Per Disney rules , “You are welcome to place magnetic signs on your stateroom door. Though, please note that Concierge staterooms on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have wooden doors. You may not affix items to your stateroom doors using tape or any adhesive, including removable gel adhesives, as this can damage the doors’ finish.” There are fines for damaging the doors. The second most common way, and what I did to save time, was to purchase them from Etsy. There are many sellers so do a search. I got the Jedi and Fantasmic ones from  Ashalinaballerina  and was very happy with them.

Decorating Cruise Doors: A Complete Guide

Ideas & rules – everything you need to know about cruise ship door decorations.

If you’ve been on a cruise lately, you’ll likely have seen a variety of magnets, signs, or even full banners across stateroom doors. Cruise door decorations are a trend found on almost all family-friendly cruise lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, and of course Disney Cruises.

Why decorate your stateroom door + a few ideas

There are so many reasons people might choose to add a little personalization on their cabin door during a cruise vacation! Sometimes it’s as simple as quickly identifying which cabin is yours. Elaborate decorations might be used to celebrate a life event or holiday.

These are a few common reasons people participate in door decorating on a cruise ship:

It helps you to recognize your room/cabin

With the size of ships now, the chances of getting lost in finding your stateroom are pretty good! People use cruise cabin door decorations to mark their cabin and quickly identify it. Then there are those who tend to indulge too much and after an evening of breaking even on the drink package, a door magnet or small decoration will help you know when you’ve arrived — at the right cabin!

Stateroom Door decorations To celebrate a special occasion

Celebrate a birthday, anniversary, retirement, or any other special occasion with a fun door decoration on your cruise cabin. Walk through the halls of most cruise ships and you’ll see people of all ages being announced on their door!

Cruise Door Decorations to Celebrate a holiday

Christmas is a great time to take a cruise and an even better time to decorate your cabin door for the festive season! On a recent MSC Cruise on the MSC Meraviglia, we couldn’t believe the number of door decorations we saw with so many creative takes on the holidays! It was great fun!.

But don’t limit the door decorating to Christmas, we’ve seen both large and small decor for Valentines Day, easter, and especially Halloween.

You can leave messages on your cabin door

Fun + Practical, use a decorative magnet wipe board and announce to your travel mates where you’ll be. Want even more fun and live on the edge a little? Leave a dry-erase marker tied to the board and see other passengers get creative with your message board. Be warned, this is risky! 🙂

Cruise door magnets and banners.

The easiest way to add a little fun to your cruise cabin door is simply getting magnets you love. There are magnets for everything available on Amazon and Etsy, or even design your own and have them made! The ideas are endless. Additionally, this is the safest way to go when trying to adhere to cruise policies about flame-retardant materials.

Other passengers go all out with banners and foil letters that can be adhered with command strips or even double-sided magnets.

Can You Decorate Your Stateroom Door on All Cruise Lines?

While some cruise lines encourage decorating and personalizing your cabin door, others have decided to rule the practice out. Norwegian Cruise Line & Virgin Voyages explicitly prohibit door decorations (though some people still do it).

Cruise line rules about decorating cabin doors by each cruise line

Some cruise lines promote door decorating fun and sell decorations to guests, however, there are some important rules to decorating your door! Here’s a list of rules for each cruise line.

Can you decorate a cabin or stateroom door on Disney Cruise Line?

Yes, you can! Decorating a stateroom door on a Disney Cruise is a great family activity as well as a great roll call or group cruise activity!

Disney Cruise Line door decoration rules

You may not affix items to your stateroom doors using tape or any adhesive, including removable gel adhesives or command strips.  Over-the-door hanging organizers are prohibited. Light bulb strings are not permitted.

The recommended door decorations for Disney Cruises are magnetic only… but it’s important to know that not all doors are magnetic.  Concierge staterooms on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have wooden doors.

Can you decorate a cabin door on Carnival Cruise Line?

Yes! you can decorate your stateroom door, but there are rules about what’s allowed and what’s not.

Carnival cruise door decoration rules

Carnival cruise line has put out the most extensive rules about decorating your cabin door. Some people may feel like these rules are too restrictive, but the fact that Carnival actually embraces the concept as well as they do, it’s no surprise there are rules.

Rules are updated on occasion and it’s good to read the Carnival website about  decorating your stateroom door and stateroom here .

This is what Carnival allows, and doesn’t allow for cruise door decorations:

  • All decorations must be fire retardant from the factory (not sprayed with fire retardant material after the fact).
  • Only decorations on the actual door, not in the hall or on the frames & walls.
  • Magnets and command strips only – no tape.
  • Nothing is allowed on the balconies (which is no surprise)
  • Nothing can be hung to restrict airflow or lights.

Most importantly – what I see violated sometimes, is the fact people hang string lights. This is a no-no. Not even battery-powered fairy lights are allowed.

When in doubt, Carnival Cruises sells door decorations directly, but here are a few tips on Carnival Cruise Line door decorations.

Can you decorate your cruise cabin door on Princess Cruises?

Princess is not necessarily the first cruise line that would come to mind to embrace creative door decor as the clientele trends older and there are fewer children (normally). There are no rules against decorating your cabin door on a Princess Cruise, but following the general guidelines of no adhesives and using items that are fire-rated will keep you from getting in trouble with the cruise line.

Generally speaking, most passengers on Princess Cruises, should they do a door decoration, it’s usually a simple magnet to help identify a cabin or a small magnetic celebration door sign. I’ve yet to see elaborate door decor on a Princess ship the way you might on a Disney ship.

Can you decorate your door on Royal Caribbean?

Following basically the same guidelines set out by Carnival, RCCL allows door decorations as long as they’re not hazardous or stuck to the door with tape or adhesives.

Norwegian Cruise Line door decoration rules

Stateroom stewards have been instructed to remove all decorations and place them inside the room. A real bummer, right?

The reality is, while NCL published a policy against cruise decorations in 2019, there are still plenty of people who put magnets on their doors and they go ‘unnoticed’. Much more than magnets, however, will likely get the decorations removed. Just know that it’s officially against NCL rules to decorate a door, but it seems that the cabin stewards have some discretion.

The below photo was from a Norwegian ship. So while they have rules, how they are applied or adhered to will vary. Just be prepared to have your treasures removed since it’s the official policy on NCL.

Can you decorate your cabin door on Virgin Voyages?

If you ask around about door decorating on Virgin Voyages , you’ll find that most people don’t participate and some travel agents have even said it’s against Virgin policy (we can’t find it in writing, though we’ve tried to confirm). On a couple of Virgin Voyages cruises, we saw only 2 doors that had anything on them and they were simple magnets. If in doubt, contact Virgin directly, just know it’s not a common practice with this cruise brand.
