LORNA SHORE Launch Music Video For New Single "Pain Remains II: After All I've Done, I'll Disappear"
September 29, 2022, a year ago
news heavy metal black death lornan shore
On October 14, Lorna Shore will unleash their fourth full-length, Pain Remains, via Century Media Records. Today marks the next chapter in the band's epic journey, leading up to the release of new album: "Pain Remains II: After All I've Done, I'll Disappear". Currently streaming on all digital platforms, the age-gated video (directed by David Brodsky // http://www.mgenyc.com) can be viewed below.
The band comments on "The Pain Trilogy": "'The Pain Trilogy' is a three-part tale focusing on the stages of grief and vulnerability and exemplifying it through a love story. The first song, 'Pain Remains I: Dancing like Flames' begins with the main character becoming enamoured by the person within his dreams. He decides to turn to this reality as a sense of purpose despite knowing that the closer he gets to his goal, the further it seems to drift away. This leads to the second song, 'Pain Remains II: After All I've Done, I'll Disappear'. This is the part where the person vanishes and the main character struggles to accept the pain. He as well wishes to disappear and seeks to throw it all away. Lorna Shore supports suicide prevention and support. We encourage all to speak to their issues and spark conversations that help and mend us all. National suicide prevention hotline: 800-273-8255."
Don't miss the final part of the trilogy that will unfold when the album is released on October 14.

Review: “pain remains” by lorna shore.
“This was the hardest record in our career that we’ve ever had to write. We were no longer in the underdog position. Because of the EP and ‘…Hellfire’, we knew we had to top ourselves. It was a different kind of pressure. For me. the mental struggle was being seen in a new light – we had to make sure that we weren’t going to be seen as some flickering flame. The biggest challenge for me was me being my own adversary. Overcoming my own self-doubt and feelings of self-worth. We’ve never wanted to be limited or meet someone’s expectations of what we’re supposed to be. That’s been the idea and the vision for the band for years. ” ~ guitarist Adam De Micco
After their previous struggles with vocalists it would have been easy for New Jersey Symphonic Deathcore brutes Lorna Shore to fade into the background, however the arrival of Will Ramos (ex- Monument of a Memory, A Wake In Providence ) in 2019 to tour the bands 2020 record “ Immortal ” injected a shot of adrenaline into the arm of the patient. A tour with Polish Death Metal pioneers Decapitated across Europe followed by subsequent EP “ …And I Return To Nothingness” and viral single “ To The Hellfire ” with its huge breakdown section continued the rejuvenation. That single alone has an incredible 34.5m Spotify and YouTube streams combined, something hitherto unheard of for an act of this nature and served as confirmation that not only did Ramos have the vocal prowess to go toe to toe with his predecessors but that he could spearhead the band into the future. So what next? The army of darkness marches on with “ Pain Remains “, produced, mixed and mastered by Josh Schroeder ( King 810, In Hearts Wake, Varials ) at Random Awesome Studios…
…for the most part, less is more when it comes to Deathcore but Lorna Shore have always been an exception to every rule in the book; 2017’s “ Flesh Coffin ” and 2020’s “ Immortal ” both clocking in at around the 45 minute mark so it should come as no surprise that “ Pain Remains ” is a three course meal of an album. An hour long with a 20 minute, three part title track that stretches over a 20 minute period may be a daunting prospect for some in an age where the 30 second sensation of social media is rife. But a true masterpiece is something that needs time and rewards over multiple listens with intricacies that the brain simply can’t cope with as it’s too busy enjoying what it just heard to take on board the current moment. That’s what Lorna Shore have created in “ Pain Remains “, a magnum opus of a record that begs for a giant auditorium of the finest magnitude to receive its performance as they once again outdo themselves in stunning fashion, taking Extreme Metal to fresh and dizzying new heights.
The overture begins with the dark orchestrations of the cinematic “ Welcome Back, O Sleeping Dreamer ” before the illusion is shattered by the insane percussion of Austin Archey, which takes blasting to a whole new level, accompanied by the throat splitting vocals of Ramos. The onslaught is both brutally savage and arena filling at the same time, a seemingly impossible juxtaposition, especially with the Slam inspired vocal parts at the climax. The swirling darkness continues with “ Into The Earth ” which has some clever melodic touches in the synths offering momentary respite from monstrous insanity of the guitar work and the plague winds emanating from the mouth of Ramos. There are times when he is so much more than simply a vocalist; his throat effectively an instrument in its own right when the lyrics become unidentifiable. Melancholic orchestrations of the rampaging “ Sun//Eater ” make for a tale of self immolation underpinned by an almost overwhelming sense of sadness before a huge breakdown section pummels you into submission, the contrast between light and dark never being further apart despite both existing in the same space at the the same time. A stunning solo in the final third is evidence is simply the Chef’s Kiss.
If there was a point that you ever thought a breakdown couldn’t get bigger, then Lorna Shore continue to defy the odds of that in “ Cursed To Die ” which again stuns with an insane Technical Metal solo that is as warm and enchanting as the fires of hell itself. The shortest cut on the album still approaches the five minute mark with consummate ease, taking the work of other genre titans like She Must Burn and Shadow Of Intent and using it to fuel their collective fires. Stepping from Deathcore brutality into Black Metal tinged stylings “ Soulless Existence ” offers up something brooding without dulling the ache, taking the atmospherics into another realm of existence entirely with a stunning theatrical presence. Lorna Shore aren’t a band you listen to. They’re a band you experience. The epic magnitude of the album beggars belief and when “ Apotheosis ” brings the walls around you crashing to the ground with it’s tectonic plate shifting rhythmic gymnastics it feels like the darkness is making why for a light so bright it will burn your retinas. Then “ Wrath ” burns the flesh with the searing heat of Ramos’ larynx threatening vocal while hypnotising guitars from Andrew O’Connor and Adam De Micco intertwine, the pulsating leads and solos leaving you awestruck.
The first seven tracks make for a gargantuan beast of a record in their own right but the final three part title track deserves a paragraph of its own. Spanning a third of the albums play time, it could be an EP in its own right and the flamboyance, verve and zest which Lorna Shore show across this trio alone is jaw dropping. “ Dancing Like Flames ” has a haunting cinematic soundscape of orchestration upon which the harrowing lyrical narrative plays out, a brave almost clean vocal moment is brave but perfectly placed in conveying the emotion of the piece before “ After All I’ve Done, I’ll Disappear ” commences. Make no mistake, this isn’t three single songs but one cut into three and they flow together as effortlessly as a river does to the sea. The transitions are incredible, taking their lead from the likes of Michael Kamen before the fretboard smouldering extended solo of “ In a Sea of Fire ” blows the mind. A final breakdown opens a chasm in the Earth from which Ramos summons forth a demon to burn our World as the ache of the pain subsides for a fleeting moment. How Lorna Shore are going to find it within themselves to outdo this incredible piece of brutal majesty next time around is going to be the biggest challenge they face in their collective careers because “ Pain Remains ” is something very special [9.5/10]

Today marks the next chapter in the epic journey of Lorna Shore, leading up to the release of new album, Pain Remains (due to be unleashed October 14th via Century Media Records): “Pain Remains II: After All I’ve Done, I’ll Disappear”. Currently streaming on all digital platforms, the age-gated video (directed by David Brodsky // http://www.mgenyc.com ) can be viewed HERE !
The band comments on “The Pain Trilogy”: “‘The Pain Trilogy’ is a three-part tale focusing on the stages of grief and vulnerability and exemplifying it through a love story. The first song, ‘Pain Remains I: Dancing like Flames’ begins with the main character becoming enamored by the person within his dreams. He decides to turn to this reality as a sense of purpose despite knowing that the closer he gets to his goal, the further it seems to drift away. This leads to the second song, ‘Pain Remains II: After All I’ve Done, I’ll Disappear’. This is the part where the person vanishes and the main character struggles to accept the pain. He as well wishes to disappear and seeks to throw it all away.

For the New Jersey quintet, 2020 signaled the pandemic and cancelled tours. The following year presented the band with a staggering creative challenge in the form of the song, “To the Hellfire” (currently at 11M+ views on YouTube, 22M+ streams on Spotify), from their hugely well-regarded EP …And I Return to Nothingness. Yet, through it all, they upped their sonic ante with their upcoming album, Pain Remains, that not only aligns with everything Lorna Shore has hinted at, but it also exceeds that – brutally and magnificently. “I’m a firm believer in the butterfly effect,” says guitarist Adam De Micco. “While you can try and boil it down to one song or one moment in a song, that’s just one moment in a career with a lot leading up to that.” “‘Hellfire’ was a big, viral moment for the band, but we are way more than just a viral 30-second breakdown band,” adds drummer Austin Archey. Clocking in at just over an hour, Pain Remains is as far-reaching in scope as any modern extreme metal album. It thinks big, pushing beyond preconception or musical boundaries. Lorna Shore Pain Remains
Our readers will likely be very familiar with the recent history of Lorna Shore . The reasons for their current level of success should be relatively obvious to anyone who has been paying attention to the trends that are prevalent in modern metal, as their breakout single "To the Hellfire" was a prime example of cramming every possible trope into one crowd-pleasing tune. You can't blame the band for giving people what they want to hear, but each subsequent single has seemingly failed to make the same impact (if the huge disparity in Youtube view counts and Spotify plays is any indication). Any attempt to break away from the formula that blasted them off into the hype-osphere might be too risky at this point, but Lorna Shore clearly wants to spread their wings a bit on their second LP for Century Media , Pain Remains . Unfortunately, every forward step is hampered by a strict adherence to the most regressive aspects of their style.
The songs on Pain Remains are largely composed of the same elements that made up the entire previous EP . ..And I Return to Nothingness , and often feature a similar sequence of events: epic symphonic intro, lightning-fast pedal note riff, initial breakdown that precedes the slower chugging. Many of these sections just seem redundant with the band's prior works. If there are any truly new sounds on this album, they are somewhat lost in the exaggerated chaos of the compositions. It's possible that this record offers a few more direct nods to classic black metal tonality than before, but these moments are typically cut short in favor of sugary melodicism or more ultra-dissonant breakdowns.
The most memorable parts of Pain Remains occur when Lorna Shore sticks with one idea long enough to let it properly develop. "Soulless Existence" in particular flows quite naturally and operates at a much more measured pace. "Apotheosis" utilizes hypnotic repetition of its triumphant main riff to great effect, but our inevitable descent into knuckle-dragging territory feels even more forced here than usual. The same could be said of "Wrath", in which distinct black metal minor chords come to a screeching halt for yet another slamfest. These tritone palm-mutes are so consistently gimmicky and interchangeable that they really drag the album down in spite of any slight progression since the last EP. By the time you get to a few admittedly dark riffs and mournful melodies in "Pain Remains III", it feels less like a glorious ending than it should; it's all too little, too late.
Although Pain Remains ' production adheres to an expected standard of modernism, its blasted-out mastering job will have you reaching for your volume knob...to turn it down. The mix doesn't fare much better, entire passages of rhythm guitar vanish in favor of overblown synth strings and choir. Lead guitars soar over everything volume-wise, but their silky smooth tone robs them of attack. New bassist Michael Yager 's lines are barely noticeable, but that's probably a symptom of the instrument's role in the music itself rather than an engineer error. Effects are plentiful, industry standard, and add little to the actual substance of the tracks. Whenever electronics are combined with orchestral sounds, it is entirely too reminiscent of cheesy action movie trailers ("BRAAAM").
Bottomline : Lorna Shore seems to be reaching for epicness on Pain Remains , but they mostly fall flat due to overindulgence. While the band's stylistic hodgepodge, artificially huge sound, and Will Ramos ' incessantly over-the-top vocals are certainly nothing new for their fans, some longtime supporters might still end up preferring a quick jaunt through Pain Remains ' singles to the hour-long marathon of the full album. However talented the members of Lorna Shore may be, their over-reliance on cheap tricks is becoming less forgivable with each improvement they make in other areas.

Lol Belgium seething. Didn't Austin Powers teach you anything about how people feel about you guys? Go sniff some Neurosis clone foreskins since your country is only capable of producing that. Nobody wants those anywhere else, so by all means keep importing that US sound.

Ok mr neckbeard ^ Enjoy ur slipknot and ur trailer. remember to back up the shitter, sometimes it gets stuck.
This site normally gives out 8s for everything. I'm surprised to see a score so low.
^ Because they are morons who don't appreciate great Metal. They just like mainstream crap like In flames and those kiddy bands.
^Yup true like most of the people on this thread are morons.
The ominous photo of the band is hard to take seriously when their seemingly gender neutral singer has his hair crimped, off to the side, and pink
Lorna Shore blew up this comment section lol. With that said, I don't mind them. I do miss CJ the ass grabbing slut monster though. Hate the player, respect the game. I'm gay.
Absolute f*cking crap
LOL at Lorna Bore members getting salty over honest opinions
Not to mention the worst hairstyle ever
^ Because they are morons who don't appreciate great Metal. They just like mainstream crap like In flames and those kiddy bands. This is the funniest comment I've ever read in everything ever. there's no way this wasn't written by a 14 year old who just found out Slayer last year.
Whoever wrote this review is just simply pissed they aren't Will Ramos. Sorry you suck.
Lol garbage
Some bands have some jams but not a full blown discography, some bands don't miss a lick. if you can't take what you like from every sub genre and decide that people are playing what they want or what makes them money, it makes you a bummer to talk to at parties. Appreciating heavy music should supersede shit talking.
