Kelly Brianne Clarkson born in Texas in America, on April 24th, 1982 is an American pop and rock singer and songwriter, whose music career began in 2002.

Interestingly, the beautiful, blonde, American singer primarily craved a career in marine biology, however was later apparently put off when she watched the famous shark attack film ‘Jaws”. The Texas born girl, is the youngest of three children, her brother, Jason, actually appeared in one of her music videos.

Kelly Clarkson performed in several musicals in her hometown school, Burleson High School, including, ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ and, ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’. Additionally, she also impressively sang at her school talent show, to which she received a great response and was given lots of positive feedback. Subsequently this encouraged her to peruse singing lessons and classical training.

In 2002, Kelly’s primarily emerged on the public’s radar in 2002 through the talent show, American Idol, of which she won. This was her breakthrough and since, she has never looked back. Kelly became a worldwide pop symbol!

Since the show, Kelly has excitingly sold over 20 million albums internationally, achieving and astonishing 7 singles on the highly regarded, ‘Top 10’ on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Furthermore, she has released four powerful studio albums, with three of them going platinum.

Through all her success, Kelly has also achieved a whopping two American Music Awards, two Grammy Awards, two MTV Music Awards, and 11 Billboard Music Awards. Wow.

Live reviews

Delightfully quirky and ridiculously talented, Kelly Clarkson is a once in a lifetime artist. Her shows are high energy, but not overly produced with simple sets and a rockin’ band. From the second she steps on stage, it’s clear the audience is there for one reason and one reason alone: that voice. If you’re not there for the shear euphoria of listening to Kelly sing, you might feel a bit out of place with those around you. Be prepared to hoot and holler as she hits a high note or belts a verse to perfection.

Next to her voice, the best thing about Kelly is her “This is me. Take it or leave it” attitude. She is unapologetically herself. No drama, no frills. She has no problem letting the audience in on the Hair of the Dog sloshing around in her solo cup—a necessary evil to cure a night of drunk bicycle riding at a friend’s birthday party the night before. You might even get a story or two about group yoga sessions with the band. I watched her trip once at a show in Milwaukee and twist her ankle so badly roadies had to carry her off stage—but not before hilariously raising her hands in salute to Molly Shannon’s Mary Katherine Gallagher from Saturday Night Live. You know? “Superstar!”

Perhaps a throwback to her Idol days, Kelly tends to perform a lot of covers, but each one will blow you away. From haunting versions of Florence and the Machine’s “Heavy in Your Arms”, to soaring vocals on any number of Aretha Franklin tunes, to crowd pleasing radio hits like Fun’s “We are Young,” Kelly nails every note and every line with emotion and reverence.

Whether she’s the opening act or the main event, Kelly will bring it. She’s a must-see!

I'm 66 yrs old and have attended many concerts. I had seen Elvis on 2 occasions. Of all the concerts I've seen over my years there are only 2 entertainers that I wish the show would not end and that is Elvis and Kelly Clarkson! This show was so beautiful in so many ways. First of all her VOICE is second to none. Secondly she interacts with the audience with her sharp and funny wit and humor. Thirdly I thought it was wonderful that she brought her back-up singers out with her on the runways as well as the guitar and saxophone players. Fourth, she didn't have to have dancers in the background because she DIDN'T NEED BACKGROUND DANCERS!! They would have been a total distraction from her magnificent voice and personality.

To top it off, her emotions on "Piece By Piece" brought this old man to tears. My father left when I was 7 years old and I never heard from him again until I was 39 yrs old. I "felt" her emotions and I felt mine at the same time.

I cannot say enough about how this beautiful person singing to me touched my soul. Ok, this is getting mushy so I will quit but please tell Kelly thank you from the bottom of my heart - to hers.

Kelly Clarkson shot to fame after winning American Idol way back in 2002. She has since become one of the most successful talent show contestants ever, selling over an incredible 20 million albums. I saw her perform live at the O2 in London and, judging from the way she owned the stage and the confidence that oozed from her, you would never guess she came to fame through a talent show. She performs as if it were all she was ever trained to do. She is a natural performer and has an incredible voice live. Her vocals are incredibly powerful and emotive and she manages to hit some incredible notes. Her performance was so entertaining because many of her songs are very catchy and fun, and hence easy to dance to. Even her sadder songs are incredibly catchy. Furthermore, she has enough classics that almost everyone was able to sing along to every song. Hits such as ‘Stronger’, ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’, ‘Since You Been Gone’ and ‘Breakaway’ were all performed to the delight of the entire crowd.

There are very fews singers with the same universal appeal as Kelly Clarkson. Her melodic pop has made consistent appearances on charts on both sides of the Atlantic for the last decade and she has a number of modern 00's hits such as 'Since U Been Gone'.

The lady herself is also a wonderfully charismatic personality and this helps with the overall appeal as the whole audience cheers as one as she addresses them warmly. She is a vocal powerhouse onstage as she hits a whole variety of notes with ease and really throws herself into impassioned versions of 'My Life Would Suck Without You' and 'I Forgive You'. There is break in tempo for the downplayed 'Breakaway' which makes the whole venue suddenly feel very personal and Kelly's passionate manner make the performance rather moving. The pace is picked up though for a perfect finale of 'Since U Been Gone' and 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' which are two brilliant examples of pop done so right.

If you must know, I have a love-hate relationship with reality TV. American Idol was my first foray into an addictive series and I blame it all on Kelly Clarkson. In the 14 or so years since her season, I've loved everything she's released, yet never made the time to see her in concert. This year I righted that wrong.

We didn't come to see Kelly lip-sync while doing mediocre choreography, we came to here her SING, and she did just that. From her char-toppers to her current album's tracks, I sang everyone word for word. The hoarse voice the next day was well worth it just to be there to hear her ANNOUNCE HER SECOND BABY ON THE WAY!

Glad you waited for me to be there, Kelly. Twas an honor.

Kelly Clarkson is totally, absolutely, without question, a true TALENT. She has the vocal range to sing anything, and sing it wonderfully. I saw Kelly for the Meaning of Life tour because I really liked the album, but the real gems of the show apart from her bubbly personality and amazing voice is all the hit songs.

Kelly sang all her classics and they sound fantastic, it was really great. Plus she did a cover of idontwantobeyouanymore and it was really wonderful.

Kelly was really great, and I would see her again. Of all the pop-stars I've seen, Kelly completely blew me away with her voice, just so freaking great.

of course kelly was great but....

the show opened at 7 pm and she never hit the stage until 9-9:15...she was on till 11:00 but just tool long to sit for a night... why does everyone need a warm up for them.

The ticket is for kelly Clarkson not 2 hrs of unknowns...and Kelly needs a stylist for her outfits on stage - she is too beautiful to dress like she does on stage ...and the one girl in shorts

was dresssed so inappropriately for a stage act.

Where's the glitz and glamour. She looked like she was taking an afternoon walk in the park.

NO CLASS ....Kelly let me help you dress....

I thought that Kelly Clarkson was really good!! I liked how she sang some of her old songs and some of her newer songs. I also thought she was really engaging with the audience, and that is a really good quality to have. I also liked how she got emotional in the song Piece by Piece. It shows you how much that song means to her. So, overall I thought it was a fantastic show and I would definitely go again!!!

First time seeing her live...the lady is a phenomenal performer! She is and always be “American Idol’s, First Lady”!

She served a full plate of entertainment... I feel she could have omitted the moment with the wine, in light of the audience of impressionable young children who were among the fans.

5 Things We Learned At Kelly Clarkson's Barefoot And Beautiful 'Piece By Piece Tour'

A pop star in concert sparks opulent images of 19-year-old Britney Spears writhing around with a snake and Madonna imitating Marie Antoinette , tongue firmly planted in cheek. Kelly Clarkson performed at Radio City Music Hall without her shoes on.

[mtvn_player id="1733915" vid="1181673" autoplay="true"]

And while the casual move seemed inappropriate at first—maybe even a tad disrespectful—it was actually the polar opposite. Fans who attended Kelly's July 16 stop on her Piece by Piece Tour were in the presence of a pop star not afraid to get real, even raw, with her fans. And that's 10 times more thrilling than a silly little python.

With bare feet and an air of self-deprecation—"I'm so weird!" she quipped in between songs—Kelly delivered a thrilling hour-and-a-half set that was one part karaoke bar and two parts #TBT with sprinkles from her latest LP Piece by Piece . It was a show that both casual and diehard fans alike could indulge, not to mention droves of pint-sized tots. (Were they even born when Kelly made her 2003 debut? Who knows.)

Of course, she sounded fantastic, but that's nothing new. Kelly has one of the most underrated voices in pop, and her pitch-perfect delivery throughout the evening—even during lyric flubs—was pretty awe-inspiring. However, the glittery rock-pop romp revealed other nuggets about Kelly—as a person and artist—that may surprise you.

She's unapologetically herself.

If the bare feet is any indication, Kel gives zero f—ks about what anyone thinks about her, and that's incredibly refreshing. Whether that's messing up parts of her set—"I was like watermelon-cantaloupe!" she joked after a slip-up—or thanking central air for saving her from sweaty hell, Kelly's transparency was both irreverent and endearing. No diva behavior in sight.

She's the queen of covers.

Kelly did an interesting rendition of Nick Jonas ' "Jealous," which was fitting because the sexy 22-year-old and she will tour together in Canada. Empress K also combined elements of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" with her own 2005 hit "Walk Away," a surprising mix that proved addicting and electric.

Her style is on point.

Body shamers , STFU. Kelly slayed in literally every outfit she wore on stage. And, for a rock show, that was actually quite a bit. In particular, Kel stunned in a figure-hugging black dress with an empire waist and plenty of dramatic flare. And, believe it or not, something about the no-shoes contrast was rather charming.

She rivals Taylor Swift in being amazing to her fans.

TSwift is famous for doing pretty fantastic things for her fans. But she's not the only singer going above and beyond for admirers. Kelly invited Chuck Rite , a fan and aspiring musician, on stage to perform a song solo. This was Kelly's way of giving Mr. Rite an open mic opportunity in hopes that he'll get discovered. How badass is that?

She's not afraid to get intimate.

The Piece by Piece Tour is full of frothy pop throwbacks like "Since U Been Gone" and "Miss Independent," but that didn't stop Kelly from getting serious when needed. A medley that included "Because of You" and "Breakaway" was hauntingly poignant, but it was her rendition of "Piece by Piece" that showed Kelly's heart on her sleeve. Fighting back tears, Lady Clarkson revealed the song is for people who grew up with bad fathers like her. Pretty heavy stuff, huh? And while the show's sadder moments added to its confessional feel, it was also Kelly's beer-and-banter demeanor. She transformed the bombastic Radio City Music Hall into a familiar neighborhood joint. For 90 minutes, it really was just you and her. And you can't put a price on a private show with your favorite singer.

Kelly Clarkson Cancels All Remaining Tour Dates on Piece by Piece Tour

Kelly Clarkson was forced to disappoint fans in the U.S. when she canceled a string of her American concert dates due to doctor-ordered vocal rest, and sadly, fans in the U.K. and Canada are now facing the same reality. Clarkson has announced the cancelation of all remaining tour dates on her Piece by Piece  Tour.

"I am truly sorry that I have to cancel the remainder of my tour dates,” Clarkson says via her official website. "I was so looking forward to sharing this tour with all my amazing fans in Canada and the U.K. Unfortunately my doctor is telling me I have to stay on vocal rest, but I am working hard to get better as fast as possible."

The the full list of remaining tour dates that have been canceled is below.

Clarkson has been wowing audiences on this tour not only with her own hits, but with unique covers of songs from a wide array of genres. She has let fans in each city suggest songs they would like to see her perform, and the star chooses one for the band to learn during rehearsal the day-of. This unconventional, but delightful addition to her tour has made for a fun, one-of-a-kind show for each date and made even more clear the artist’s pure talent. Clarkson’s covers have ranged from 'N Sync's  “Bye Bye Bye” to Bonnie Raitt’s “Love Me Like a Man,” and all have been impressive.

The tour cancelation may actually be a blessing in disguise for Clarkson, giving her some time to rest during some pretty significant changes both emotionally and physically. The “Invincible” singer let slip a few weeks ago onstage that she and husband Brandon Blackstock are expecting their second child , explaining that she was feeling a little strange and didn’t want the audience to wonder what was off.

"I just didn’t want you to think I was crazy or anything,” she quipped.

Clarkson and Blackstock have a 1-year-old daughter, River Rose, and the artist had hinted recently that she wanted the siblings to be close in age , so the pregnancy was not a total surprise to fans. Though no due date has been announced, it’s likely Baby No. 2 will make his or her appearance early next year.

Kelly Clarkson's Canceled Remaining  Piece by Piece Tour Dates:

When your all-star Detroit concert opens with none other than Miss Diana Ross gliding down the stage catwalk in an enormous cloud of orange chiffon singing “I’m Coming Out,” you are setting the bar high from the jump — especially if you’re kicking off an event with Eminem , Jack White , Jelly Roll, Common and many others.

But six years ago, the Ford Motor Company decided to save the building, and now, after years of painstaking renovation and restoration, the building has reopened as an “innovation hub.” In theory, the concert is in celebration of the station’s revival — but in reality, it was a declaration: Detroit isn’t back, says the sizzle reel — it never left. (The concert, called “Live From Detroit: The Concert At Michigan Central” and produced by Oscars and Super Bowl Halftime veteran Jesse Collins, will air on NBC as a one-hour primetime special on June 9 starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT.)

Big Sean performed at the 2018 groundbreaking ceremony where Ford declared their intentions, and he was back tonight, visibly stoked to be on stage in front of the old train station, and his set reflected that: 2024’s “On Up,” a song about his son, along with “Blessings” and closing with “Bounce Back,” an absolutely relevant Detroit almost-anthem. This was followed by a tribute to 79-year-old local hero Bob Seger featuring Melissa Etheridge, Fantasia, and Jelly Roll. Etheridge’s smoky alto worked well on the low-key “Mainstreet,” but Fantasia’s turned up for a Tina Turner-esque rendition of “Shakedown,” Seger’s 1987 contribution to the “Beverly Hills Cop II” soundtrack. And Jelly Roll’s “Turn the Page” perfectly captured the original’s pathos. The three finished the tribute with a joint version of “Old Time Rock and Roll” — a predictable but energizing cap on their set.

Veteran rapper Common appeared with Slum Village in tribute to J Dilla in a segment that was introduced by the late, pioneering hip-hop producer’s mother, Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey. Dilla passed in 2006 but his stamp on hip-hop is indelible and continues to unfold in current artists influence and his absence are still very real to his friends, fans, and collaborators, as evidenced by the emotional performance tonight.

Introductions tonight were handled by an array of popular local celebrities, sports figures, politicians —Governor Gretchen Whitmer made an early appearance before concluding with a verbal mic-drop, “Big Gretch, out!” — and Ford executives. Throughout the night, the train station’s iconic facade was creatively utilized as a backdrop, illuminated with lighting, special effects and tasteful implementations of pyrotechnics. The production was staged by Jesse Collins Entertainment, known for their work on large spectacles from the Super Bowl halftime show to countless awards shows. There was a clear roof over the stage just in case — the day before, a tornado had touched down in a nearby suburb during dress rehearsal — but Thursday night the problem wasn’t rain, it was wind so strong that the production could not fly the speaker columns or the video screens until the last few acts. Even with those challenges, the sound was stellar throughout Roosevelt Park, the grounds in front of the station where the free event took place in front of a crowd of approximately 20,000.

Techno City got its props during the set change before Jack White when DJ Skyy Jetta performed a tribute to genre pioneers the Belleville Three. Detroit is widely considered to be the birthplace of techno, and the genre’s history isn’t an afterthought here. Jetta’s brief but innovative set kept everyone moving as the anticipation for the end of the night approached.

The always color-coordinated White, who grew up not far from where he was now performing, turned Michigan Central blue as he told the audience he was going to play some songs that were written “a few blocks from here.” After opening with “Here My Train a’ Comin” (OK he didn’t write that one) and “Hotel Yorba,” he was off and running. White is gifted with the ability to fill any space, no matter the size, with wall to wall rock and roll, and his set tonight was colossal. “Seven Nation Army” had the entire crowd singing and clapping along; they could probably hear the noise in the traffic on the Ambassador Bridge that crosses the Detroit River to Canada, just beyond the station.

Any attendees who thought they were being smart and beating the traffic by leaving after White’s set probably regretted that decision when they got home. The between-set changeover took longer than others because it required making room for the entire Detroit Symphony Orchestra — who were there to accompany none other than Eminem, who executive produced the event. Every phone was held aloft the minute he walked onstage; his name wasn’t part of the official lineup, but attendees fervently believed he would be there anyway.

Anticipation aside, it was an enormous, emotional performance that began with “Houdini” (and brought back Jelly Roll to sing the song’s sample from Aerosmith’s “Dream On”), “Sing for the Moment,” “Welcome 2 Detroit” — guest appearance by Trick Trick included — before finishing up with “Not Afraid.” This wasn’t any kind of vanity appearance — at the end of a night like this, Eminem hit the stage and delivered with all of his energy and intensity.

“Detroit, we up,” he announced at the end of “Not Afraid.” “We love you. Our city’s up. Let’s fucking go!” There was pyro. There were fireworks.  Michigan Central turned Ford blue, and the crowd headed out towards Michigan Avenue. (Head here for a full recap of Eminem’s set .)

This is Why Kelly Clarkson Moved Her Talk Show from LA to NYC

The host and Coach of The Voice explained her mindset behind the major move.

kelly clarkson tour canada

The Kelly Clarkson Show   relocated across the United States in 2023, with Season 5 finding a new home in New York City after filming in Los Angeles since its premiere.

How to Watch

Check your local listings for The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Fans never tire of  Kelly Clarkson 's infectious humor and bubbly personality, and the studio shakeup has been an exciting remix of the beloved daytime's rhythm. With several daytime Emmys under her belt, Clarkson continues to dazzle and delight with her mesmerizing  Kellyoke performances  and interviews — only now in a venue as legendary as she is.

Where is The Kelly Clarkson Show filmed?

The Kelly Clarkson Show   has been filmed at the historic 30 Rockefeller Center, in studio 6A in front of a studio audience, ever since Season 5's September 2023 premiere.

Joining 30 Rock mainstays such as  Saturday Night Live ,  The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon , and  Late Night with Seth Meyers , the Manhattan landmark has become Clarkson's new home away from home.

"There's nothing like witnessing the American Idol winner's powerful vocals in person,"  NBC Insider  reported . "As she hit those seemingly impossible high notes that filled the room, I actually heard audience members gasp all around me. It was like we were at our very own private Kelly Clarkson concert."

Kelly Clarkson is thriving in New York City

Clarkson made an appearance on  Late Night with Seth Meyers   during her first week of Season 5. Meyers — who was a guest on the premiere episode of  The Kelly Clarkson Show  in Season 1 — asked Clarkson how  she's been enjoying The Big Apple  so far.

"I love it," The Texas native gushed.

"I didn't really realize the underground vibe," of 30 Rock, she added. "There's so many restaurants. There's a whole world underneath."

Clarkson was later announced as the host of the  2023 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting , a fitting gig for the powerhouse vocalist. She was joined on the evening by fellow icons  Barry Manilow , Chloe Bailey, Seth McFarlane,  John Legend , Cher,  Keke Palmer , and the Radio City Rockettes, to scratch the surface of the night's mythic lineup.

This is Clarkson's first time living in NYC, a move that Clarkson revealed  her children, River Rose, 9, and Remington, 7 , were luckily totally on board for.

Kelly Clarkson on Late Night With Seth Meyers episode 1430

"The thing they just got excited about, they've been to a show before, but not since we've lived here. And it was a long time ago. So they saw Lion King the other night. And then I saw Lion King three times yesterday because they re-enacted the entire thing," Clarkson told Meyers before adding that River Rose and Remington were also apparently fascinated by Times Square at night.

"It keeps you busy. There's so many things to do all the time," Clarkson said.

Why did Kelly Clarkson move from Los Angeles to NYC?

In the same interview, Clarkson explained why she decided to take  The Kelly Clarkson Show   to the east coast: "I really needed a fresh start, on a personal note."

The "Since U Been Gone" singer also clearly doesn't regret her choice. "I don't know if I've ever done the show this happy before," she told Meyers.

Clarkson expressed a similar sentiment in a recent interview with  USA Today .

“I knew I needed a fresh start and couldn’t be in LA. I really wanted to be in Montana, but you can’t really do a show from there quite yet," she told the outlet. "So I was like, ‘The only other option would probably be New York.'"

She also talked about future plans for the show.

“We’re definitely going to be on the streets and doing different things that we weren’t capable of in LA because it’s so spread out," she explained. "People that watch daytime television want to laugh and cry at a beautiful performance. They want to be inspired."
