The safari is set within the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, in a secluded camp. The camp is set across two characterful spaces with 8 canvas safari tents, each with a comfortable double bed, private decking area, and a rustic desert charm. Individual toiletry amenities and shared bathroom facilities are also provided on site.

The Overnight Desert Safari experience includes a complimentary parking space for your vehicle, a BBQ dinner and cooked breakfast, and a variety of unique activities that will contribute to making your overnight stay a once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

Beginning at the DDCR entrance, the Arabian Adventures team will be on hand to greet you and transfer you to your overnight camp. Upon check out, you are welcome to take a short tour of the Reserve’s visitors centre at your convenience or begin the journey home with unforgettable memories.

Included as part of the Overnight Desert Safari experience are activities including a camel ride on an Arabian Camel, a walking night safari by torch light followed by fireside marshmallows, and endless wildlife spotting opportunities throughout your time on safari. Every Overnight Desert Safari experience is inclusive of a soft drinks package for each guest.

If you are looking to further enhance your Overnight Desert Safari, there are additional add-on options available. We offer upgrades from soft to premium drinks packages, as well as transfer options to and from your hotel or residence. Transfer options also allow guests to avail extra activities including a morning wildlife drive and a 4x4 dune drive.

• Comfortable clothing and suitable walking shoes are recommended for your time on an Overnight Desert Safari. We also recommend that you pack some warm clothing as the desert can get quite chilly after sunset, along with sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat
• Fresh linen and towels are provided in your tent
• The meeting time at the DDCR gate for self-drive guests will be: October = 17:45 November & December = 17:15 January 1st - 15th = 17:15 January 16th - February 28th = 17:45 March & April = 18:15
• While we endeavour to show you as much wildlife as possible, we cannot predict the movements of every species. Therefore, if some of the animals change their plans, we can’t guarantee you’ll spot them.
• Tent allocation remains entirely at the discretion of the Arabian Adventures team, however we will do our best to accommodate any specific guest preferences where possible
• Please inform our team of any existing medical conditions before joining us for your Overnight Desert Safari. Where necessary, we will work to make alternative arrangements for certain activities to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of all guests throughout the experience
• Please note, for expectant mothers and guests with existing medical conditions joining us with a package which includes transfers, the 4x4 dune drive will be omitted from their individual itinerary for their comfort
• Adults: 12+

• The Overnight Desert Safari operates a minimum age restriction of 5+. However, when the entire Overnight camp is reserved exclusively for private use, this minimum age restriction is lifted

Cancellation policy

• We understand that plans can change. If they do, please let us know at least 24 hours prior to your activity. We will not be able to process refunds for bookings cancelled less than 24 hours before your activity starts
• Full payment for your booking is required at least two days prior to your activity. If payment is not received before the expected date, we reserve the right to cancel your activity
• In exceptional circumstances, we may have to amend the Overnight Desert Safari schedule, or cancel the activity entirely. We reserve the right to amend and cancel activities in such circumstances, and will ensure we communicate any changes in advance where possible

Is the overnight desert safari suitable for solo travellers?

Absolutely! Both shared vehicle and private vehicle packages are available for solo guests, and accommodation can be reserved by solo travellers too.

How many people does each tent accommodate during the overnight stay?

The tent accommodation is designed to host a maximum of two adults and one child (aged 5-11).

Are special dietary requests accommodated during the stay?

We can accommodate special dietary requirements during your stay with us. All we ask is that you share these in advance, so we can prepare your request accordingly.

What is the entertainment schedule during the overnight desert safari?

A typical activity schedule for an Overnight Desert Safari includes

Are there any restrictions on carrying electronic devices to the overnight campsite?

Electronic items such as mobile phones are allowed on the campsite. How else can you get those Insta-worthy shots, right? Your accommodation won’t have any charging points however, so we’d recommend bringing a portable charging pack with you.

What safety measures are in place at the campsite?

The safety and wellbeing of our overnight guests is a top priority, and we have taken a variety of steps to ensure the overnight experience is comfortable and safe.

A comprehensive risk assessment has been conducted for our campsite facilities and activities, to ensure that potential risks are identified and effectively managed. While you’re camel riding, relaxing by the campfire, and sleeping – know that we have taken precautions to ensure your safety.

Although an emergency of any kind is highly unlikely, we understand the importance of being prepared. We have emergency procedures in place and have trained all our Safari Guides accordingly to put these into practice. Our Guides are also certified in First Aid and have access to first aid kits and defibrillators.

We have also taken steps to ensure fire safety at all times. Our campfire is carefully managed by our Safari Guides, and we have multiple fire extinguishers conveniently located throughout the campsite and the Guides are trained in their use. If the need arises to evacuate, our campsite offers an open plan layout with plenty of safe egress options.

As a rule, we encourage all guests to act in a respectful and mindful way throughout their time with us. We discourage any behaviours which could disrupt any wildlife or compromise personal safety in any way. With this in mind, while we do not prohibit any specific items, we ask our guests to make reasoned judgements about what they bring into the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.

11 Adrenaline Pumping Adventurous Things to do in the UAE

From skydiving the Palm in Dubai to the world’s longest zipline in Ras Al Khaimah, these are the best adventurous things to do in the UAE!

When it comes to adventurous things to do in the UAE you’re almost spoiled for choice.

There’s sand dune bashing in Abu Dhabi, sky diving over the Palm in Dubai , kayaking through the mangroves in Umm Al Quwain and that’s before mentioning the world’s longest zipline in Ras al Khaimah.

The hardest thing is choosing which is the best adventure activity for you. The one thing that’s guaranteed is you’ll have an amazing time!

I recently travelled around the UAE with Rotana Hotels on the hunt for some of the best adventure activities in the Middle East and I had such an amazing time.

One of the things I loved about the UAE is how easy it is to get around. It sounds like doing all 7 Emirates in 8 days is a lot, but most of them are really small.

In fact, I travelled from Sharjah to Amjan, then from Ajman to Umm Al Kuwain, before ending up in Ras al Khaimah all in a day. That means if you’re looking for some adventurous things to do in the UAE, getting from Abu Dhabi or Dubai really isn’t a problem.

So, as a bit of inspiration for you for your holiday, here are the best adventures in the UAE!

Adventurous Things to do in the UAE

Desert safari, abu dhabi.

I’m guessing most of you won’t know what a desert safari in Abu Dhabi entails.

Basically it’s like being on the craziest roller coaster ride ever bouncing around at 50kph, all with sand blasting everywhere.

For a solid hour I laughed and screamed as my driver Ali took me up steep sand dunes and along tight narrow ridges. At times I’m not too sure how the car didn’t roll off the side of a sand dune, but if you’re looking for that fear factor then this activity certainly has that.

You can go sand dune bashing all over the UAE but desert safaris in Abu Dhabi are considered the best. Also, with desert safari tickets costing around £45 per person it is amazing value for money.

As for things to do in the UAE, this is definitely one of my favourites . You can probably tell that from my video with Lonely Planet!

WB World, Abu Dhabi

Warner Bros World in Abu Dhabi only opened on the 25 th July so it’s one of the newest attractions around. When I went to WB World it was deserted. Okay, so I went on a Monday afternoon but I didn’t have to queue for ANY rides which was amazing.

My two favourite areas were ‘Metropolis’ (with the Superman ride) and ‘Gotham City’ (with the Scarecrow and Riddler rides) and I genuinely felt like a big kid again going on rides.

WB World is completely enclosed so you can visit any time of the year. Also, being indoors in the air condition is a welcome break from the scorching summer sun.

Tickets to WB World cost 295AED (£60) and it is well worth visiting for an afternoon while in Abu Dhabi.

Also, just over the road from WB World is Ferrari World , home to the world’s fastest rollercoaster. This goes from 0 to 240 kph in just 4.9 seconds – mental.

Taking on the world’s longest zipline, Ras al Khaimah

While I was travelling through the UAE I knew I had to take on the world’s longest zipline. Talk about a bucket list activity!

Located up in the mountains of Jebel Jais, the world’s longest zipline is 2.8kms of adrenaline fuelled fun. Also, you fly at speeds of 140-160kph which is just crazy when you think about it.

Once you hit top speed though you can relax a bit and take in the gorgeous views of the mountains. Saying that, I don’t think I stopped screaming for a solid two minutes.

Tickets with Toro Verde costs 325AED (£66) and it takes up a whole afternoon. Add in the viewing platform and a drive through the rough and rugged desert of Ras al Khaimah and I think its very good value for money.

Oh, and they even throw in a certificate to prove you’ve done it at the end!

Skydiving the Palm, Dubai

If there’s one iconic image that screams ADVENTURE at the top of your lungs it’s skydiving the Palm in Dubai.

I was speaking to someone about this recently, and even though staying on the Palm is amazing, you never know you’re staying on a palm tree. The only way of really getting that perspective is from up above which means a helicopter ride or skydiving.

Even though skydiving the Palm is expensive (you’re looking at around £450 for the experience), you are skydiving in one of the most unique locations in the world.

Nothing can quite beat that feeling of free-falling through the air as the image of the Palm gets bigger and bigger with every passing second.

Put it this way, it’s an experience you won’t forget anytime soon!

Kayaking through the mangroves, Umm Al Quwain

When it comes to kayaking in the UAE, the one place everyone raves about is Umm Al Quwain. This is because you can kayak out to the mangroves really easily and it makes for a fantastic adventure in the UAE.

Even though I didn’t see any turtles while kayaking in Umm Al Quwain, it is very common to see them in the area. However, I did see flamingos though which was a huge surprise. I never thought there were flamingos in the UAE but I was completely wrong about that.

I went kayaking from UAQ Marine Club which is like an adventure club with loads of activities to choose from. Best thing about this is they’ve got a pool so you can go for a relaxing dip after kayaking.

Hiring a kayak is fairly cheap (100AED, £20) and I’d really recommend this to anyone passing through Umm Al Quwain.

Parasailing, Fujairah

You can’t have a proper beach holiday without going parasailing!

The beaches at Fujairah are among the best in the UAE so while I was staying at Fujairah Rotana Resort & Spa I just had to go parasailing.

The thing that’s unique about the beaches at Fujairah is you’ve got the mountains in the background and they are just so beautiful.

I love parasailing because it’s so peaceful and relaxing once you’re up in the air. Also, we got dunked a couple of times in the water for good measure!

Jet skiing, Ras al Khaimah

Jet skiing is another one of those classic beach holiday activities that I love.

While I was staying at The Cove Rotana Resort I picked up a jetski for the morning and zoomed along the coast.

Every time I go jet skiing these days it’s with my girlfriend on the back and she hates it when I go fast. From the sound of her screams I always know I push it too far though, so this really is an amazing adventure activity to do in the UAE.

The architecture at the Cove is really famous in Ras al Khaimah and people refer to it as ‘the Santorini for the UAE; I think the best way of seeing this architecture if from a jet ski because then you get a real sense of the size and grandeur.

Hit the slopes at SkiDubai

When things get a little hot in Dubai (read: every day) then make sure you head to Ski Dubai . If you haven’t heard of this place yet you can probably work it out – it’s a huge ski dome in the middle of the desert.

Yes, when it’s 50+ degrees outside you can play in the snow at -2 degrees. And we’re talking about real snow here people not just a dry ski slope!

Even if skiing isn’t your thing then there’s still plenty for you to do at Ski Dubai.

The Polar Pass gives you access to the ski dome where you can go bobsledding, tobogganing, go in a zorb or ride the ski lift to the top of the slopes.

For me, I absolutely loved Ski Dubai. It is so surreal at first going from the blazing heat outside to the freezing cold inside, but it is an amazing experience and definitely a must on any trip to Dubai.

Go diving at Martini Rock

Okay, so the diving isn’t the *best* in the UAE but it’s much better than I thought!

Just off the east coast of Fujairah, Martini Rock is probably the UAE’s best dive site . This place is home to an abundance of marine life and you’ll see things like  broomtail wrasse, cuttlefish, lionfish, and even a few turtles poking around the area!

Dubai launches air taxi service: Passengers can reach various spots in the city in 10 minutes

Dubai: The RTA air taxi service that will be operational by the end of next year promises safe and fast mobility between the major cities in the Emirate. It would cost at least 350 dirhams per person to travel in the aerial taxis. A US-based aviation company will be running the project. The air taxis have been designed to allow the passengers to enjoy scintillating aerial views of Dubai. Moreover, the service promises a smooth and easy ride without getting stuck in the heavy city traffic. The authorities say that the air taxi would significantly reduce the travelling time between two places in Dubai by 70%. It would take at least 45 minutes to up to an hour to travel from the Dubai International Airport to the Palm Jumeirah by road. However, it would only take 10 – 12 minutes to cover this distance in an air taxi. Each air taxi can accommodate up to four passengers and a pilot. Besides, there is ample space for baggage too.

These air taxis have been designed to provide smooth and uninterrupted rides for the people of Dubai. As it flies at a height of 500 – 1000 metres, it is safe too. However, the height at which it flies would depend upon the distance of the journey. The air taxi may fly at an altitude of 1000 metres in long-distance journeys while it would be flying at just 100 – 500 metres if the trip is short. A pilot who possesses a commercial flying licence would be flying the air taxis after completing a 6 – 8 week long unique training program. The training would ensure that the pilots are skilled in navigating the air taxis safely and efficiently. Passengers can book air taxi rides using the mobile application that was developed by Joby Aviation. Moreover, they could also reserve a ride in Uber while using the app. The air taxi would take off even if there was only one passenger.

The authorities said that the air taxis could be charged from zero to 100% in just under ten minutes. The ground staff would connect the air taxi to the charging points as soon as the air taxi lands in the vertiports. Meanwhile, the plugs would be removed quickly before the air taxi gets ready for take-off with a new set of passengers. Interestingly, air taxis have been designed as a fusion of helicopters and aeroplanes. These would have the take-off manoeuvres of a helicopter while promising the comfortable flying experience of an aeroplane.
