See Tom Cruise in a rare photo with both his adult children, Bella and Connor

Tom Cruise posed for a rare photo with his adult kids Bella, 31, and Connor, 29 .

Though the picture is going viral now, it was posted on Instagram in December 2023 by former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks. 

“I was a little star-struck but played it cool and he said he was too,” Brooks wrote, in part. 

In the group photo, Cruise, 61, stands in the front row with Connor, who wears a blue vest. Bella smiles as she peeks her head over the shoulder of another woman.

It has been years since Cruise has been publicly photographed together with both Bella and Connor.

Cruise shares Bella and Connor with ex-wife Nicole Kidman. He is also dad of daughter Suri, 18, from his marriage to Katie Holmes.

Bella is an artist and “has been drawing ever since her wee hands could pick up a pen,” according to her website, where she sells tote bags, graphic T-shirts, and limited-edition prints. 

Connor, a former DJ, is an avid fisherman and won a tournament in 2022 after reeling in a 301-pound Warsaw grouper . 

Bella and Connor, like their father, are members of the Church of Scientology. 

In 2010, Cruise opened up to Esquire about the moment he became a dad through adoption.

“I remember that first night, just staring at Bella. I was checking her every second, just looking at her, feeling that immediate bond. I was probably looking at her so much that I was keeping her up,” he said. “I made a promise to her: All I can do is the best I can. But I’m not going to say I'm gonna do something and then not do it.”

“If I tell you we’re gonna have ice cream on Friday night, we’re gonna have ice cream on Friday night,” he continued. “If I say I’m gonna take your call anytime you need me, and I’m in the middle of something on the set, my world is gonna stop for you. I made that promise to all of my kids.”

Tom Cruise Is on Instagram -- See His First Photos!

The actor shared images from the sixth 'Mission: Impossible' sequel as well as the official movie title.

Tom Cruise has a new mission!

The 55-year-old actor is on Instagram and shared his first photos on Thursday morning that teased the sixth  Mission: Impossible movie. The first image is of a clapperboard that reveals the official title of the sequel, Mission: Impossible Fallout , and that it will be released in the summer.

"Get ready," Cruise captioned the pic. 

As for the second photo, the action star is seen wearing all black and hanging out of a flying helicopter. "We’ve upped the ante for the sixth #MissionImpossible," he wrote. "I can’t wait for you guys to see more."

While Cruise is new to Instagram, he's been a member of Twitter since June 2009. His profile reads: "Actor. Producer. Running in movies since 1981."

In August, it was revealed that Cruise was injured while filming the sixth  Mission: Impossible movie. While shooting a scene that required him to jump from a scaffolding onto the roof of a building, the actor fell short and smacked into the edge of the structure.

25 Things I’d Like to See From Tom Cruise’s New Instagram

Last week, Tom Cruise joined Instagram . This is something we all should’ve gotten a push notification about: legitimately megafamous, almost pathologically charismatic movie star Tom Cruise is now among the rest of us, clamoring for likes, comments, and #sponsored posts. Go ahead, scroll through your feed: There’s Tom Cruise, star of Risky Business , Oprah’s couch, and 1,000 Mission: Impossible s, right beside influencers, Glossier models, and Armie Hammer’s tracksuits . This feels like an extremely random, but welcome, milestone in these topsy-turvy times. We’ve known Tom Cruise for so long — and been curious about him for even longer — and now we’re right there, in his tight jeans’ pocket. Personally, I love it.

However, I am less than thrilled about the choices Tom Cruise has made since sharing his first photo, a snap of the Mission: Impossible 6 clapper, one week ago . In the days since, he’s given us a series of M:I 6 stills and two clips from his appearance on The Graham Norton Show . I expected more from a man literally famous for his movie-star stamina and tendency to forget about boundaries entirely. Where are the throwbacks? A family photo with his two kids with Nicole Kidman? Some smug Matt Lauer shade ? A hi-res video of him dancing to Yung Joc on BET ?

When I asked a friend (who recently — and also quite randomly — texted me to say that she still thinks Tom Cruise is pretty hot) what she expected from Tom Cruise’s Instagram, she suggested the following: “Dance videos and him appreciating black women the way robert de niro does.” That’s a good start. But there’s so much more we should be asking for. Below, I’ve outlined 25 things that I, personally, need from Tom Cruise’s Instagram.

1. I would like Tom Cruise to test my accurate theory that he gives better performances in movies when he’s wearing full bangs ( Risky Business , American Made , and Magnolia because he had long hair) than when he has short hair ( The Mummy ).

2. A video of himself eating micro-livestock .

3. Enough running! How about a photo of a brisk, early morning fast walk?

4. A video of himself dancing to “ Bootylicious .”

5. Pages from the Top Gun sequel that will certainly happen and is not just a diversion tactic that comes up whenever Tom Cruise gets bad press.

6. A Bible study, for real this time .

7. Live commentary of The Arrangement .

8. “You can’t handle the truth!” in varying pitches, on a loop.

9. “Show me the money!” in varying pitches, on a loop. (Personally, I’d like to see this one as different kinds of whispers.)

10. A video of himself listening to Cardi B’s verse on “Motor Sport,” really vibing to “Why would I hop in some beef? When I could just hop in a Porsche.” And then cut to Tom Cruise saying, “Porsche. There is no substitute.”

11. A photo set of his empty mantle, increasingly zoomed in with each photo. Caption: That’s where my Magnolia Oscar should be.

Tom Cruise Celebrates 38 Years Since the Original Top Gun : 'It's Incredible to Look Back'

'Top Gun' producer Jerry Bruckheimer told PEOPLE in March that Tom Cruise has been pitched an idea for a third 'Top Gun' movie that "he liked"

Tom Cruise is celebrating nearly four decades of taking to the skies.

On May 13, the actor-producer, 61, shared photos from the set of 1986's original Top Gun on Instagram in honor of the film's 38th anniversary.

The photos show behind-the-scenes pictures of him on set with the movie's director Tony Scott , who died in 2012 at 68, as well as a photo of him sitting with the film's cast in its air-hangar-turned-classroom set.

One throwback photo shows the actor smiling during a conversation with producer Jerry Bruckheimer . Another shows Cruise filming 2022's Top Gun: Maverick as he stares at the famous still of him and costar Val Kilmer shaking hands at the end of the original movie.

"It’s incredible to look back on the thirty-eight years of Top Gun ," he wrote in a caption. "To the fans who have been with us since the start, there wouldn’t be a Top Gun Day without you."

Cruise's original Top Gun movie was an immediate hit when it hit theaters May 16, 1986. The movie follows his character Pete "Maverick" Mitchell as he attends the U.S. Navy's Fighter Weapons School, better known as Top Gun. The movie costarred Anthony Edwards, Kelly McGillis and Kilmer, 64, as Maverick's chief rival and eventual ally Tom "Iceman" Kazansky."

Top Gun was the highest-grossing film at the domestic box office that year. It won one Academy Award , for Best Original Song, at the 59th Oscars in 1987, among four total nominations.

Decades later, Cruise regrouped with producer Bruckheimer, 80, to make a sequel, Top Gun: Maverick , which similarly captured audiences' imaginations as the highest-grossing movie of 2022 domestically and made $1.5 billion worldwide. The sequel sees Maverick return to Top Gun to train a new generation of pilots — including characters portrayed by Miles Teller and Glen Powell , among others — for new missions with the Navy.

Many have speculated about the franchise's future given the smash success of Maverick . The Hollywood Reporter reported in January that a third Top Gun movie was in development . In March, producer Bruckheimer told PEOPLE he is working on putting a new entry together.

" We pitched Tom a story he liked . But he's a very in-demand actor and he's got a lot of movies lined up, so we have to wait and see," he said.

Along with the message and photos, Tom Cruise also retweeted an official video from the official Top Gun Twitter account celebrating the blockbuster film's latest anniversary – with a special focus on the full legacy of the franchise and clips from both the original movie and the years-later follow-up. It even ends with a salute from Cruise's Pete "Maverick" Mitchell that feels like a salute to fans for decades of love:

Tom Cruise Is Dapper In A Suit At ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Premiere: Photos

Tom Cruise arrived in style at the May 4 Top Gun: Maverick world premiere! The 59-year-old actor touched down on the USS Midway in San Diego, California, in a helicopter adorned with the Top Gun: Maverick  logo. He looked as handsome as ever as he posed on the red carpet wearing a smart-looking black suit, matching vest, and black dress shoes. A white dress shirt and gray tie completed his look.

And if it seems like you have been hearing about Top Gun   for a while, it’s because you have. The movie, starring Miles Teller , 35, Jennifer Connelly , 51, Jon Hamm , 51, Glen Powell , 33, Lewis Pullman , 29, Ed Harris , 71, and Val Kilmer, 62, was filmed between 2018 and 2019. The original premiere date of June 24, 2020 got pushed back four times amid the coronavirus pandemic. The movie is set to premiere in theaters for the public on May 27.

Top Gun: Maverick  is the long-awaited sequel to the original 1986 Top Gun  film. Tom will reprise his iconic role of Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell alongside Val Kilmer, who will return as Maverick’s rival, Commander Tom “Iceman” Kazansky. Apparently, Tom had a huge helping hand in making sure Val came back for the sequel. “He said, ‘We have to have Val, we have to have him back. We have to have him in the film,’” the film’s director, Jerry Bruckheime r, 61, told People in August 2021. “He was the driving force. We all wanted him, but Tom was really adamant that if he’s going to make another  Top Gun , Val had to be in it.”

Meanwhile, Jon, who plays Vice in the movie, said the wait will be worth it for fans. “This is a movie that you want to see in theaters. It feels like a welcome back to the theaters, after a couple years of pause that we were all on,” he previously told Entertainment Tonight . “I think when people start seeing this in the theaters, and they see it big and loud, and they understand what kind of experience it is, they’re gonna forget about the last two years.”

The premiere comes weeks after Tom was spotted in South Africa while filming the latest installment of Mission Impossible , which he originally starred in in 1996. Photos of him looking just as he did when he was filming the original Top Gun showed him smiling at and applauding fans who sang the movie’s theme song.

Katie Holmes is celebrating her mini-me daughter Suri Cruise 's birthday with some rare pictures.

To celebrate her daughter turning 15 on Sunday, Holmes, who is famously private about the teen, posted three Instagram photos of Suri taken throughout the years. Homes shares the teen with ex-husband Tom Cruise , to whom she was married from 2006 to 2012.

In one of the pictures, Holmes cradles her look-alike daughter in arms. In another, Suri smiles for the camera while giving mom a big hug.

"Happy 15th Birthday Sweetheart! I love you!!!!!!!!" Holmes wrote in the caption. "I can’t believe you are already 15!"

Though Holmes is known for keeping her daughter out of the spotlight, the "Dawson's Creek" star, 42, opened up about bonding with Suri during the coronavirus pandemic  in her November cover story for Vogue Australia .

"Hobbies such as sewing, painting and writing became new hallmarks of satisfaction and having had time at home to just be," she wrote. "To listen. To live for a moment in time without the pressure of results and instead appreciate the natural rhythms of mother and daughter was the most precious gift."

Holmes also recalled how spending time with a friend with a young child made her reminisce about raising Suri.

Isabella "Bella" Kidman Cruise , 30, posted a rare snap of herself to Instagram Sept. 17 to mark the end of the season. The photo showed Bella gazing at the camera while wearing a white ensemble and some layered necklaces—with her captioning the picture, "What a summer." 

While the artist often shares her work with her social media followers, she doesn't upload pictures of herself as frequently. In fact, her last selfie appeared to be in March, when she gave a peek at her new ‘do . And while fans are used to seeing Bella's parents up on the big screen, she seems to prefer staying out of the limelight—with her last public appearance being in 2021 when she attended an art exhibition in London hosted by  Courtney Love . 

Nicole and Tom are also protective when it comes to the privacy of Bella and her 28-year-old brother  Connor Cruise —who the stars adopted while they were married from 1990 to 2001—and have said little about them publicly.

"I'm very private about all that," the  Moulin Rouge  actress told Australian outlet  Who  in 2018. "I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150 per cent that I would give up my life for my children because it's what my purpose is."

Nicole also shares daughters  Sunday Kidman Urban , 15, and  Faith Kidman Urban , 12, with husband Keith Urban , and Tom is the father of 17-year-old daughter Suri Cruise , who he welcomed with ex-wife Katie Holmes .

Tom Cruise joins Instagram to promote 'M:I 6,' but here's what we really want him to post

On the heels of ex-wife Nicole Kidman’s Instagram debut, Tom Cruise has joined . For a split second, that sounded exciting as we rushed to the photo app to see his first post. Would it be: a nearly nude bathroom selfie like Kim Kardashian’s latest ? A video of him using the giant lips filter that all the celebs have been loving? A #healthie of his latest workout? Nope. It was two photos promoting his next film, Mission: Impossible — 5,678 . (Or, more accurately, M:I — Fallout , the sixth installment in the series.)

Clearly, we were a bit disappointed. Despite being one of the biggest superstars in the world, Cruise doesn’t have much of a social media footprint. He’s been on Twitter for a few years, but it’s largely a vehicle to promote things. The most personal messages are posted by “TeamTC,” which means maybe he signs off on them, but probably not. We can’t imagine his famous fingers awkwardly typing: “New exclusive Edge Of Tomorrow videos are almost here. Learn how you can help unlock them.”

Most of the posts don’t even pretend that they’re from him. This one talks about the “work & training Tom puts in2 action roles.”

The last time he posted, prior to today, on Twitter and Facebook, was September. And it was to promote a project.

The thing about Instagram, though, is it’s supposed to be a snapshot of a moment in someone’s life. Twitter is about the character count, but the ’Gram tells a visual story. While Kidman was a late adopter of Insta , preferring Facebook instead, she started off with a bang on Jan. 9, the morning after the Golden Globes. The Big Little Lies star shared an amazing personal photo after shutting down a Globes party. (Go, girl.) She’s since given her 476,000 followers a first look at her glam prior to the Casting Society of America Awards , some couple cuteness with hubby Keith Urban , and even an inspirational quote on MLK Day . We’re all in for that stuff.

Similarly, Will Smith joined recently — on Dec. 14 — and we aren’t sure how we lived without him before that. His first photo was a duck-lip selfie , and he’s also given us glimpses of life with Jada , took us courtside at the Australian Ope n, and the throwbacks . Oh, the throwbacks . It’s clear why he already has 5.7 million followers.

May we put a little bug in Tom’s ear by asking him — and his team — to step it up. While he’s pulled in a whopping 634,000 followers in just hours (sorry, Nic!), it’s not cool to join Instagram just to promote a project. That’s lame. He should do it to show his real life, which has been closely guarded since his abrupt split from Katie Holmes in 2012. So here are our thoughts on what he probably won’t post but should:

1. Take us through the halls of the Scientology Centre. We all know he’s a bigwig in the controversial organization. If it’s all on the up and up, as he’s maintained, show us what it’s really like. Like, Instagram Stories it hard. Pull back that curtain. Selfie with David Miscavige — or, better yet, Miscavige’s wife . Go live behind the scenes of the Sea Org. Is Leah Remini wrong? Prove it.

2. Show us who he’s dating. The thrice-married Cruise is never single. (Remember when he reportedly auditioned Sofia Vergara to be his new lady?) Who’s the lady in his life these days? Show us the love notes he sends her — like A-Rod and J.Lo . Post a couple selfie in the back seat of his car on the way home from date night.

3. Let us see his time with Suri. There’s speculation about whether or not he still sees his daughter with Holmes . End it. Show us their cute bowling adventures , like Katie does. Or baking sessions . We’d eat it up.

4. Make light of his infamous couch jumping. An amazing #TBT would be Cruise posting his Oprah couch jump. Or, better yet, reenact it — as a Boomerang. Yesssss .

There’s so much else we’d like to see — family moments with Isabella and Connor, a peek at his fighter plane (has he renamed it from Kiss Me Kate?) and shots behind the gates of his many mansions, a funny #TBT of his ultrasound machine collecting dust in a corner, and a silly shot of a fake prosthetic butt just to make us laugh.
