Okuma Nomad saltwater rods is the only rod you need when planning your exotic fishing trip. These rods allow you to create two rods in one. What is extremely unique about this rod series is that the rod comes with two different action tips allowing you the versatility to fish different scenarios depending on what fish are biting and the conditions you are faced with. The innovative and extremely durable European Spigot ferrule design and look different, but it has been tested giving you all the feel and power of a one piece rod that comes in three sections for easy transportation. Since I want to take my Accurate TwinSpin, spare spool (one 80 lb one 65 lb spectra) and some poppers, etc to TSL Panama this summer, I decided to buy a travel rod. After reading a real good review last year here and reading the very good narrative on Charkbait (and after being happy with my Okuma Cedros Jigging rod) I ordered the heaviest one (30-60 lb rated) from Charkbait. http://www.charkbait.com/cs/csrods-Okuma.htm . It is in three (3) pieces plus you get an extra tip section of a different action, Alps seat, plus a soft case. Free shipping, no tax..total $179.00  

Whats your point? I twisted a Okuma spinning reel in half while fighting a big tuna I am not a fan of there reels for sure. Have no experience with there rods.  

Duh? Then why post? If you have no experience with Okuma rods what is YOUR point??? If you read this link you will find a real positive field test. http://2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/showthread.php?t=296501&highlight=nomad . Plus if you look at Charkbait you will read about them too. (By the way....that little knob deally on the front of a spinning reel lets you back off the drag setting so as not to destroy your next reel with a big fish or pull the hook on him.)  

just ordered the cedros spinner 80 and their heavy jigging rod. But you are going to have to wait till about May before i will get a chance to try it out. Coleman  

..... I bought the same one and broke the SOB in half fighting a YFT and the center of the butt stripped out causing the reel to spin around everytime I turned the handle. The stainless eyes are pretty tough though. It not worth the price unless you just have to smuggle it in somewhere.  

Guys, I did not mean anything personally. Sorry you took it that way. I did not understand the post. Where you just telling us about a rod you ordered, where you asking about the rod. It did not really say. I just stated what happened with a reel we used while top water fishing. We did not have to much drag, we where using 65lb power pro and it was a 150class tuna. I also said I had no experience with the rod.  

No problem Yes I have ordered it. I have found the narrative descriptions at Charkbait very good before and way better than other online sites. And before when I emailed them about another Okuma (Cedros) jigging rod a real person immediately sent me back a page of personally written information about the rod. I will use provided tackle for offshore Tuna etc., but I want my own TwinSpin outfit for the near shore lure fishing. And, having traveled a lot with gun cases, and once with a rod tube, I just did not want to take a big tube for my Calstar. Just go to the Charkbait link and read about the Alps reel seat, the joint connectors, etc., for this heavy rated travel rod. Lifetime warranty. For everything you get for $179 I don't think I can go wrong......like McGolfer says "there is no limit on tackle"  

Rod has arrived. The Okuma Nomad heaviest travel spinning rod just arrived. My office inspection analysis....tough glass rod fitted with much fine metal and no cheap plastic....I am very satisfied . And the sections go together very nice. The scale of this rod is perfect for a large reel like my big TwinSpin. I viewed Mark's Charkbait.com video on the "european spigot ferrules" and how not to "Ape" them together too tight. Other than spending waaaaaaaaay more than $179 I don't think you can beat this.  

Just thought I would weigh in on Okuma. Give you my experience. Reels, no experience with their rods. Bought a reel at Academy years back when I was kingfishing out of a Blue Wave. Don't remember the exact model, but think it was something like an Invector 30. Worked fine on kings for a season. I wash and clean my tackle pretty well after exposurer to saltwater. Second year the reel started to peel. Chrome coming off the star drag, reel handle, etc. Drag started to fail/weaken. Hammered down the drag and it was marginal. Kids or novice neighbor never knew the difference. Vowed to never purchase another one and knew I needed to spend a little more on offshore equipment. Needed a big spinning reel as I was just getting into tuna fishing 6-7 years ago. The one I had was shredded by the horse eyed jacks at Falcon. On SRMO.com they had Okuma Avenger 80 spinning reels. Normally $89, discontinued for $39. Against my previous experience, I made the purchase. I have have caught quite a few yellowfin on this reel, including the 2nd place YF in the 2008 Texas Legends. It weighed over 96 at the dock, but about 103.5 on a rocking boat. Pretty smooth drag for some substancial runs. My tackle budget has changed since I don't have an offshore boat and don't try to outfit an entire boat. I would not hesitate to use the Okuma as a backup or a primary on any of our GOM tuna. Some Okuma products are junk, some are pretty good value. Not sure, but they may have some different design engineers on the spinning line vs the conventional. SSNJOHN

I bought a brand new Okuma fishing pole and damaged some guides before I even had the opportunity to use it. I found Khahn after some internet research. He did an excellent repair job on the fishing pole, and it looks perfect. I have used it several times, and it works flawlessly. His price was very fair and the work was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend his shop. He was working on some very nice looking custom rods when I stopped by. Thank you Khahn!

This Guy sucks at building Surf Rods maybe his boat rods are ok but I wouldn't do it.

I had a bass fishing rod that had the guide insert on the tip fall out. Because it's a custom rod I wanted to fix it. Khanh replaced the entire tip for a very reasonable price. The job was very clean and it looks just like new. One downside was that it took a week longer than estimated. I realize he's a one man shop and I wasn't in a rush, just would've liked a more accurate estimate. Overall I would contact him again for repairs.

Needed some repair work done on a couple of well used Calstars. Pricing and turnaround time were more than reasonable and rods came out like new. Would highly recommend Khanh Customs to any serious angler.
