The beauty of kapatagan, davao del sur.

Brgy. Kapatagan is one of the barangays of Digos City, the provincial capital of Davao del Sur. Digos City is an hour drive from Davao City, the main gateway of Mindanao. From Digos City, travel time to Barangay Kapatagan is approximately one hour, depending on the weather. Vans and habal-habal are the only two main transport systems.

(1) Always bring a jacket. It's cold there. 

(2) Wear appropriate attire if you wish to hike. 

(3) Dispose your trashes properly. 

(4) Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but memories.

Kapatagan is such a beautiful place. I remember when i was still a child, I used to catch small guppies, guramies, and even tilapias from the lake we now know as Lake Mirror... Now, every time i visit that place of my childhood, i would never miss standing amazed at the glory of the majestic Mt. Apo by the still shore of Lake Rosario, feeling the gentle breeze softly whispering peace to me...Try riding a bicycle up the hills of kapatagan and surely you'll have a great adventure cycling through vegetable gardens, fields of wild flowers, streams, lowly and chic houses along the road... How to get to Mt. Apo Highland Resort ( Camp@Tagan Lake Mirror and Hillside):

Fly to Davao City from major airports in the country. From Davao City, ride a cab or multi-cab to Davao Ecoland Terminal.  Get on a bus bound for Digos City.  From the city, ride a tricycle to old Digos terminal where you can take a van to Camp Sabros  in Kapatagan. Van fare is roughly Php 100.  At Camp Sabros, you can avail of the package tour to Mt.Apo Highland Resort for about Php 400 where you have the option to choose from 25 Things to Do in Kapatagan’s highland resort.

It was raining heavily at the time of our visit so the lake looks murky.

If you are in a large group, you can avail of the day tour package from Davao Crocodile Park (15-20 persons) for Php 600 per pax.  The van will take you to and fro Mt.Apo Highland Resort.

Jardin de Senorita is a lovely resort with lots of blossoming flowers and lovely pastel colored small houses making you feel like you are in “little Netherlands”.

This place is a perfect place for weddings and pre-nuptial pictorials. They have a restaurant that serve delicious foods. They also have dwarf houses for their guests who wanted to stay overnight in their place.

This farm has also a cafe where you can chillax with family and friends.

Sky Garden Cafe and Dine is an overlooking restaurant where you can enjoy lovely vista of the mountains and the beautiful nature around you. Geographically, this place is located at New Sitio Bohol, Managa, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.

We are including this on our list as its location is just near Kapatagan. The road going to this place is the road going to Kapatagan and just go ahead until you will see this place. It is easy to spot as they have a signage.

If using private vehicle, it is 2 hours drive from Davao City, 1 hour drive from Digos City and just 15 minutes from the town of Bansalan.

Do you love cactus or fond of collecting this kind of plant? This cactus farm will make your eyes twinkle with these lovely cactus of different varieties. This farm offers wholesale and retail services of their cactus plants and adenium.

If you are the more adventurous type, you can test your stamina and tenacity by taking the trails that needs toughness and physical endurance in going to these marvelous natural beauty that nature can offer.

Tudaya Falls

Tudaya Falls is one attraction of Kapatagan. However, going to the area is not the easiest. From the Jump-off area, you will have to trek a trail full of trees and bushes.

You will have to pass by muddy places and uncleared trails. However, being able to get to the falls is so exhilarating and worth it.

Virgin Falls

Virgin Falls, true to its name is unspoiled gem hidden in the forests of Kapatagan, Digos. You will have to walk a considerable distance going to the falls.

Traversing the trail going to the falls needs you to be careful as it can be slippery and muddy.

Finally arriving and getting close with the falls is so rejuvenating and worthy of the hardships you get through in getting there.

Lake Mirror

Lake Mirror is a lovely lake with bountiful flora and fauna located in Kapatagan, Digos. It is surrounded with trees and mountains. You can do fishing in the area and do camping and picnic with family and friends.

Lake mirror, as the name suggests mirrors the majectic Mt. Apo and the mountains and its greens in the valley of Kapatagan.

Another lake that is popular in Kapatagan is the Lake Rosario. An amazing view of Mt. Apo from the lake is so exciting and awesome.

How to Go to Kapatagan Digos

The nearest airport to Kapatagan is Davao International Airport in Davao City. From there, you can ride a taxi going to Ecoland then at Ecoland Bus Terminal, you can ride a bus going to Digos City, From Digos City, you can hire a single motor that will take you to Kapatagan.

However, this is not the most comfortable means of transportation.

If you want a comfortable way of going to Kapatagan, you may hire a car rental. This way, you can have many places to visit in the area.

If you have a private car, just go to Digos City and then head to Kapatagan.

Travel Guide: Things To Do In Digos City + 2D Itineary

My trip to Digos City was unplanned (or should I say, planned in haste). I went there to grant some favor requested by a friend of mine. But since it was going to be my first time, I decided to stay a bit longer, and so I spent a whole weekend there.

Because I decided to take some sleep after checking in at Avenue One Hotel , my “gala” started in the late afternoon on the first day. I went out at almost 6 o’clock in the evening.

Here’s how I spent my weekend in Digos City:

CONTENT AT A GLANCE

Dropped by the mall for dinner (GMall of Digos) and then roamed around inside to look for something interesting.

Gmall of Digos is the biggest mall in the city, it has great selections of restaurants. So, if you are visiting the city, you might want to consider this place for your food trip.

STROLLED THE MAIN STREETS

I like strolling around. I feel a different kind of freedom when walking around without any specific purpose or destination to go to. Talking to random people in the sidewalk, asking questions about items for sale, and asking for directions bring more local “feels” to me.

HAD A GOOD TIME AT PUBLIC PARK

Then, I ended up at the public park (just in front of a government building) and ate some street foods. I had a relaxing foot massage right at the same park as well (yeah, they also have an open massage area at the park – just like in Davao City)

BEER AND LIVE MUSIC AT Jjmuzikshop

Soon after my stroll at the park, I gave myself another treat. This time, I had some beer and watched live band performances at Jjmuzikshop.

After having some bottle of beer, I decided to call it a day. I needed some sleep for my planned activities for the following day.

VISITED KUBLAI MILAN’S ART WORK (THE LAND OF PEACE)

Visiting this place was a real treat – fresh and cool mountain breeze, ornamental plants and more refreshing greenery, and, of course, Kublai’s art creations. I could not find the best words to describe his masterpiece, so just take a look at some photos I have taken, guys. 😀

GOT REFRESHED AT DHEN YHO’S PLACE

BOUGHT PASALUBONG AT MERS

Dropped by a pasalubong center to buy some for my loved ones back home.

And that ended by weekend tour in the city.
