Prime Circle are a South African rock band, operating out of Johannesburg. The band has released six studio albums to date and achieved multi-platinum-selling status in South Africa. After notching up six studio albums, several chart-topping singles, a string of awards and countless sold-out gigs, Prime Circle have earned their status as South African rock royalty. Now they are also making strong inroads into the European market, gigging intensively and being playlisted on German radio – and to crown it all, the band is headlining major German rock festivals. In mid-2016, Prime Circle's single Ghosts reached the top 150 of Germany’s weekly airplay charts. This came on the back of performing at mega-events such as Rock im Revier, Rockavaria and Rock in Vienna in Germany and Austria alongside Iron Maiden and Iggy Pop, to promote their first official European release, Let the Night In – Deluxe Edition. Prime Circle were also the headline act at the Kieler Woche, the world’s leading sailing event, as well as Hamburg Harley Days – the biggest annual Harley Davidson gathering in Germany. They also took their powerful live act to football audiences at the UEFA Champions League Festival in Milan. Between July and September, Prime Circle were booked to open as special guests for Berlin superstars The BossHoss during a succession of German festival dates. And in August, the band was invited to headline the Rock Auf Der Berg Königstein and the Pflasterfest in Hameln, also in Germany – an outstanding achievement and a fitting tribute to their persistent hard work and dedication. Formed in Witbank, Mpumalanga, in 2001, Prime Circle have demonstrated unparallelled staying power with a dynamic signature sound that continues to evolve in exciting, progressive directions. The five members have shown it is possible to be a successful and enduring South African rock act by constantly challenging themselves while exploring new geographical and musical horizons. Their six albums – Hello Crazy World (2003), Live This Life (2005), All or Nothing (2008), Jeckyll & Hyde (2010), Evidence (2012) and Let the Night In (2014) – have all reached gold or platinum status, morphing in style from commercial, anthemic radio hits to a harder, edgier sound. Prime Circle have won several South African Music Awards for their albums and music videos, including Best Music Video of the Year at the SAMA XXI category as well as nominated for the MTV Africa Music Awards for Best Pop & Alternative Act and Best Music Video of the Year for their single DOORS off their album Let The Night In. The band was also nominated for Best Artist in African Rock at the All Africa Music Awards. Over the past few years, they have taken their well-crafted tunes and powerful live energy to international markets while not forgetting their massive South African fan base. They have toured extensively throughout Europe, including the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Spain and Switzerland – as well as Germany, which is fast becoming the band’s second home. Says singer-songwriter Ross Learmonth: “Without the fans, we would be nothing. And I don’t ever want to do anything else. Creating music for a living is a privilege, and we never forget that.”

Prime Circle: The World We Know

Join legendary South African rock band, Prime Circle, for an epic evening of musical fun as they embark on their 'The World We Know' tour. This is the first tour since the departure of their lead singer, Ross Learmonth, at the end of 2023.

Despite this major change, the band eagerly welcomes fans, both old and new, to enjoy their classic hits with new lead singer Gavin Edwards, who came runner-up in the very first season of South Africa's 'The Voice', at the helm.

Supporting the band as they embark on this new musical chapter is rock band Cantrel, which is comprised of Prime Circle's own pianist, Neil Breytenbach and his son, Jesse.

What a night we had in Dingwalls (Camden, London) last night.

This little venue is intimate and allows you to get really close to your favourite artists. Hats off to German opening act, Segard. The crowd took to them immediately, where warm up acts usually get ignored by those who paid to see the main act play. It did not matter that Segard sang in German at all (think Rammstein), they rocked! The crowd soon got swept up in their energy and gave them a loud ovation after each song.

The break between the two bands was getting a bit long, as Prime Circle's soundcheck took longer than the restless audience expected. All was forgiven the moment Ross and the boys took to the stage. They opened with the title track of their new album, Let The Night In. There is a huge difference between Prime Cirlcle in the studio and Prime Circle "live". They were loud and blasted us with a good mix of crowd pleasers from previous albums and tracks off the new album.

Highlights for me were: Breathing, Our City, She Always Gets What She Wants, Evidence and the "dancey" I Am.

When we left at 11pm, it felt like my ears were bleeding! Does it make me a masochist that I ENJOYED every minute of my "punishment"?

Hailing from South Africa, Prime Circle is one of those bands that have toured and toured relentlessly, working so hard, since their formation in 2001. They have shared a stage with some of the biggest bands in the world such as Metallica, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Rasmus, Simple Plan and more, touring around the globe for the last decade.

None of this is much of a surprise when you see them live. They have such energy and charisma almost as soon as they walk out on stage. They love what they do and it completely shows. They’re also very thankful when they’re on stage. You’d think that that kind of thing would wear off a band. They launch into their first song “Evidence” which is lead by a power chord driven riff. They play all of their biggest songs tonight, giving the audience exactly what they want, under this atmospheric light show. All the aesthetics are adding up, as they finish with their song “Breathing”. Great fun, great night indeed.

What an amazing show! I've seen Prime Circle perform many times and have never been disappointed. The performance at The Assembly on 31/7/2015 was fun, entertaining, lively and truly rocked. This is why they are my favourite band.

Not forgetting Reburn who I saw for the first time that night. SA music really is of a high standard. #proudlysouthafrican

Spain’s leader in Senegal concludes West Africa tour aimed at tackling irregular migration

DAKAR, Senegal (AP) — Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has met with Senegal’s president as part of a trip through three West African nations aimed at tackling irregular migration to Spain’s Canary Islands. More than 22,000 people have disembarked on its shores since January, according to Spain’s Interior Ministry, more than double the number of irregular arrivals for the same period last year. Among those making it to the Canaries are thousands of young people from Senegal and other West African countries who are seeking better job opportunities abroad. Sánchez began his tour in Mauritania on Tuesday where he announced that Spain will provide temporary work opportunities in Spain to Mauritanians. He was in Senegal on Wednesday and Thursday.
