Das European Darts Matchplay ist das zehnte von insgesamt 13 Turnieren der PDC European Tour. Es findet vom 30. Juni bis 2. Juli 2023 in der Arena Trier, Deutschland, statt.

Luke Humphries wurde 2022 in Trier einmal mehr seinem Spitznamen gerecht. �Cool Hand Luke� drehte im Finale des European Darts Matchplay 2022 einen 0:4-R�ckstand gegen Rowby-John Rodriguez noch zum 8:7-Sieg. Der 27-j�hrige Engl�nder fuhr damit bereits den vierten Triumph auf der European Tour ein und verwehrte dem �sterreicher seinerseits den ersten Turniererfolg. Madars Razma und Stephen Bunting schafften es in die Vorschlussrunde, Gabriel Clemens und Lukas Wenig erreichten als beste Deutsche die Achtelfinals.

Die besten 16 Dartspieler der PDC Pro Tour-Rangliste sind automatisch für den Wettbewerb qualifiziert und gemäß ihrer Platzierung für die zweite Runde gesetzt. 32 weitere Teilnehmer werden über eine Kombination von Qualifikationsturnieren ermittelt.

Alle Spiele werden auf der Bühne ausgetragen. Die gesetzten Spieler greifen am Samstag, den 1. Juli in das Geschehen ein. Sonntags finden die dritte Runde, die Viertel- und Halbfinale sowie das Finale statt.

Alle Spiele bis zum Viertelfinale werden im Format Best of 11 Legs gespielt, das bedeutet, dass derjenige gewinnt, der zuerst sechs Legs verbuchen kann. Die Professional Darts Corporation gab 2018 für die Halbfinals und das Finale eine Verlängerung der Distanz bekannt. Die Vorschlussrunde wird nun Best of 13 Legs gespielt, das Endspiel im Format Best of 15 Legs.

Live coverage of all 2023 European Tour events will be streamed through Viaplay in the UK, the Netherlands, Poland and all Nordic & Baltic countries, and through DAZN for viewers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Coverage will also be shown on PDCTV (excluding Germany, Austria and Switzerland) and through bookmakers' worldwide.

PDC European Tour Order of Merit: Josh Rock and Michael van Gerwen among risers in top 10

Josh Rock moved into the top five on the PDC European Tour Order of Merit after surprisingly winning the Dutch Darts Championship last weekend.

Rock was too strong for Jonny Clayton in the final of the Euro Tour tournament in Rosmalen and collected the top prize of 30,000 pounds. It earned him a rise from seventeenth place to fifth. 'Rocky' only has to surpass Luke Littler, Rob Cross, Luke Humphries and Martin Schindler. By the way, the first three players were absent from Rosmalen last weekend.

Behind Rock, Michael van Gerwen is the new number six on the PDC European Tour Order of Merit. The 35-year-old went down 7-6 against Clayton in front of his own crowd in the semifinals after squandering a 4-0 lead. Ryan Searle and Jonny Clayton also emerge into the top 15 after their runs this weekend sitting in 12th and 13th. Ritchie Edhouse, Joe Cullen and Chris Dobey technically conclude the top 15.

At the end of the season, the 32 best players in the rankings will compete in the European Championship in Dortmund. This tournament is scheduled from Oct. 24 to 27.

PDC European Tour - East Europe Qualifier entries for ET10-13 now open

Player entries for the remaining four East Europe Qualifiers on the 2023 PDC European Tour are now open. The European Tour sees 13 tournaments taking place across the continent in 2023, with the Interwetten German Darts Grand Prix (ET4) set to be held in Munich over the Easter weekend following three successful events so far.

Germany will play host to eight European Tour events this year, while there will also be visits to the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Hungary and the Czech Republic. The East Europe Qualifiers for ET10 and ET11 in Trier and Jena respectively will take place on Saturday June 3 at the Smile Club in Budapest, Hungary. The Hungarian capital will also play host to Qualifiers for ET12 in Budapest and ET13 in Hildesheim – both of which will take place on Sunday June 4. The East Europe Qualifiers shall produce one player for each event, subject to eligibility. Players with the following nationalities are eligible to enter: Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo. As of January 2023, players from Russia and Belarus may only enter subject to certain special conditions which can be obtained from the PDC in advance of an entry being made.

Entries, free for Associate Members and £105 per event for new players, are now open for the last four East Europe Qualifiers, with players able to enter through  the PDC Entry System . 

New players must register their details at  this link . Following your registration, you will receive an email to confirm that you are available to enter tournaments, and at this stage you can login to make your entry to the relevant events. This verification may take up to 48 hours.

The remaining dates for further Host Nation Qualifiers will be announced in due course.

Important Note: PDPA Associate Members must enter the Host Nation Qualifier for any event in their home country, therefore Hungarian citizens must compete in the Host Nation Qualifier for ET12.
