The central location of Dubai means that you can reach many European cities in a matter of a few hours. This not only reduces the cost of travel from Dubai to various European destinations but also helps you avoid the dreaded jet lag from long-haul flights.

Europe is a preferred destination for travellers from Dubai and other parts of the world because of its breathtaking landscapes, stunning architecture, dynamic culture and historic attractions. If you are planning a Europe tour from Dubai, here are some of the best European destinations from Dubai that you can add to your travel bucket list.

Aerial view of London City

The capital of England, London, is one of the most famous European holiday destinations from Dubai. You can reach the historic city in less than 8 hours on average from Dubai. Some of the iconic structures of the city include Westminster Abbey and the twin Baroque at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Not to mention, history buffs can head to the many museums and historic sites to get a unique glimpse into what was once the most prolific empire in the world.

Second on our list is the romantic paradise, Paris, the capital city of France. Famous for being home to the iconic Eiffel Tower that stands 1050 feet tall, Paris has much in the way of beautiful attractions. You can head to the Palace of Versailles, a magnificent exemplar of Baroque architecture, which is now a UNESCO world heritage site or sit by the alfresco cafes near the Seine for some freshly baked croissants and delicious platters of cheese. Other popular attractions to check out include Sainte Chapelle, Musée du Louvre and Notre Dame Cathedral.

The flight duration from Dubai to Paris is just over 7 hours, Many leading airlines including Emirates, flyDubai, Air France and more operate daily flights to Paris from Dubai. Up next is the culturally enigmatic Prague in the Czech Republic. One of the cheaper European destinations to visit from Dubai, you can catch direct flights to the city with airlines like Air Arabia. The history of Prague also goes back a thousand years, which means there is much to explore in the way of castles and museums in this city.  But what revellers like most about Prague are the vibrant nightlife, delectable cafes and thriving entertainment culture.

Prague

Our next destination pick for a Europe tour from Dubai is Amsterdam, the beautiful city of canals, cobbled stones and eclectic music festivals. The capital of the Netherlands offers everything from heritage sites to trendy cafes and restaurants.

Best time to visit Europe

Europe is stunning and worth visiting at any time of year, depending on your preferred weather, vacation plans, and interest in cultural activities. Although Europe is a year-round travel destination, the best months to visit are June to September. The sun is shining brightly, the beaches are wet, and the weather is pleasant. This is also the season for cultural festivals, galas, and even end-of-season fashion sales in most countries. Hikes, road trips, and adventure sports are also suitable throughout the summer. It has a diverse climate, but the majority of the continent experiences moderate weather, which is milder than areas of Asia and North America at the same latitude. The warm weather is due to the Atlantic Ocean winds that sweep through the continent.

Summer is the most common time of year to visit Europe due to the ideal weather, with visitors flocking to the continent in large numbers during the season. During the summer, the most popular tourist destinations in Western and Southern Europe are France, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Spain, Italy, and Greece.

Autumn is the European tourism shoulder season. The Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden are the best places to visit. Throughout the autumn season, Europe is brightened by a plethora of festivals. Many others include Spain's La Mercé Festival, France's Paris Nuit Blanche, England's Great Cornish Festival, Italy's Alba White Truffle Festival, Hungary's Cafe Budapest Contemporary Art Festival, among others.

Winters in Europe are notoriously harsh in terms of weather, with temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius in areas like Russia and Poland. Winter in Europe is the most enthralling season. Cities like Vienna, Rome, and Athens are at their most beautiful and have the best weather. You can go skiing, see the northern lights in Iceland, visit the glaciers of Norway, or travel to Russia to see the magnificent Christmas and New Year celebrations in Moscow's Red Square. It's also a fantastic time to go to an opera. At this time of year, flights and hotel accommodations are also very affordable.

Spring brings the continent an unprecedented natural appeal. After white winters, South Europe is the best place to look at with its newborn greenery. The best places to visit in Europe during this season are France, England, Scotland, Hungary and Ireland. The majority of reopening attractions and outdoor activities are back. It is also less expensive to travel to Europe at this time since tourism is a low period.

How to Reach Europe

Travelling to Europe by air is convenient and fast, particularly since several famous destinations such as London, Rome, Amsterdam, and Paris have direct flights from UAE. There are many connecting flights to other countries, such as Sweden and Denmark, which are generally less expensive. When booking flights to Europe, bear in mind that the high season, which though despite is summer, will make your entire trip very costly due to the high cost of flights and hotels during this period. Amazing experience, very fast paced . Sometimes you would arrive in locations during the night and leave early in the morning. Met amazing people and would do another trip there are some extra costs so best to factor this in as well. Would recommend.

Good itinerary, everything was organized very well. Laura, our tour leader, was on top of things throughout and we had a very good time, covering a lot of places in a relatively short time.

The Great Adventure

Eva and Rene were amazing tour guides. Disappointed that we didn't see the Eiffel Tower at night. Several times we were dropped in town at night with not enough time to get a meal before being taken to the hotel. Some hotels were out of town with nothing within walking distance. Thank you to Rene for arranging for a group of us to go to the Moulin Rouge.

Best of Central Europe Tour

Best of Central Europe

The Central Europe tour I was on with my daughter went beyond my expectations. I was nervous about having all that free time in new places but Eliza our amazing tour guide, gave us the best orientations and knowledge of all the places we visited. Sharing her local knowledge and her mastery of all the languages to help us fully experience and enjoy the countries we were in, made it perfect. The group size was good and she looked after us at every turn, especially on busy train stations and on arrival at new places. She helped us experience the local culture and food in each location, so we had highlights all through the tour. Highly recommend

The Best of Eastern Europe Tour

The Best of Eastern Europe

Excellent tour and with a small group it was easy to get to & enjoy everything. There were a couple of hiccups. More to do with local public transport and out of the hands of our CEO, Jakub. He took everything in stride though and went above and beyond to assist some of the group when they needed it My first group tour and I was pleasantly surprised. G Adventures did a stellar job with this tour and comments from other, who have done other G Adventures’ tours, members of group said they are generally good value

European Delight Tour

European Delight

We have multiple tour guides. All are very friendly and accommodating towards everyone's need.I am overall satisfied with the services that I received.I believe it could be much better if a seperate tour was arranged for big Indian group.I understand their limitations. But as a traveller i missed some of my opportunities to make my tour more enjoyable and exciting. There should be age limit also. And I would like to know about my fellow travellers prior to my tour.

All About Balkans (4 Star Hotels) Tour

All About Balkans (4 Star Hotels)

A well organized whirlwind of experiences! Each day introduced us to the most spectacular sights of a new country. At each stop, well educated proffessional local guides explained the history and social complexion of the people. We received a taste of each region and often wished we had more time to explore. This tour could have been twice as long but for limited vacation time. Simon, our Travel Talks representative, masterfully lead a diverse group of 40 through the Balkans using humor, knowledge, passion and compassion. He brought us together as cohesive group and we forged new friendships. Any issue arising was handled in a mannner that left all of us having fun and learning new things.

Zagreb to Athens: Adriatic & Ancient Capitals Tour

Zagreb to Athens: Adriatic & Ancient Capitals

Excellent tour with fantastic tour guide (Noddy). It's a tour aimed at younger (under 40) travellers, so the accommodation is mainly hostels and the pace is pretty fast but we still managed to spend a reasonable amount of time in each place. There was a good balance of history/culture and activities, and there is a lot of flexibility with the optional activities and free time to spend more or less time at the beach, museums, etc. Highly recommended as an introduction to the Balkans!

Baltic Experience Tour

Baltic Experience

First and foremost with these tours, the enjoyment and experiences can be enhanced by the guide you have and our guide for this trip was exceptional! There are a LOT of cobblestones to walk on this tour so sensible footwear is an absolute must. Every city visited had its 'Old City" which were paved with cobblestones. It was a fascinating tour of the history of this part of Europe from medieval times to present day. The days spent canoeing and trekking in the countryside offered a welcome break from the cities visited. Klaipeda and the day trip to the unique, World Heritage-listed Curonian Spit National Park was just one of the highlights of the countryside experience. A hillside of Witches was a unique collection of sculptured tree trunks depicting all manner of mythical witches and demons. Amazing to wander through this huge area with such an engaging local guide to share the stories and history of the area. Hiking and canoe through Aukstaitija National Park's dense forests and lakes provided an opportunity for not only physical activity, but also time to swim and stop to appreciate the wild flowers and other flora. Plants that are considered garden annuals here, grow wild amongst the grasses and forests of this area. But Riga was one of the most beautiful cities visited. Fragrant gardens, fountains, old and new public sculptures and the well preserved and restored art nouveau buildings, made this city enchanting and fascinating. The trip did consist of long journeys especially by bus from Warsaw to Berlin. It proved to be quite exhausting and could be well improved by a stay somewhere in between these two major cities. Overall, if interested in Russian and German occupation and the history of these Baltic countries and their struggle for independence then this is the trip for it.

europe tours from dubai

Outstandingly rich in history, culture, art, gastronomy, architecture and natural charm, Europe is a continent like no other. Its small size, compared to other continents, in no way limits its vast offering or colourful diversity, bringing truth to the expression “good things come in small packages”. For thousands of years, countless empires, from outside and within, fought to claim their place in European soil, causing borders, customs and rule to continuously change. Society evolved through it, with the ancient Greek and Roman eras giving way to the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution. As a result, present-day Europe is a melting pot of culture, ripe with history. Ancient relics and artefacts fill museums, paintings and sculptures decorate art galleries, and buildings from every architectural style line the streets of every major European city. Urban life, though different from town to town, is nothing short of fascinating. Summer sees people flocking to beaches and parks, joyful of the good weather, while open-air coffee shops and pedestrian boulevards come alive with tourists and street performers. Winter calls for more sheltered activities, with plays and opera shows inviting people to the theatre, boutique malls filling with happy shoppers and cosy restaurants delighting the palate of anyone hungry for traditional cuisine. Venture into the countryside, and picturesque little towns dot the ever-shifting landscape, as lush green forests give way to snow-capped mountains, winding rivers cut through jagged canyons, and vast plains lead to rocky cliffs and beaches. There is no end to the amazing natural, cultural and historical allure of Europe. Whether it’s the Gothic architecture of Prague, the nightlife of Belgrade, the ski slopes of Bulgaria or the stunning beaches of Turkey, Greece or Montenegro, Europe is undoubtedly a destination where dream holidays come true.

Storm dumps record rain across desert nation of UAE and floods Dubai’s airport

Vehicles sit abandoned in floodwater covering a major road in Dubai on April 17, 2024. (Jon Gambrell/AP)

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The desert nation of the United Arab Emirates attempted to dry out Wednesday from the heaviest rain ever recorded there after a deluge flooded out Dubai International Airport, disrupting flights through the world’s busiest airfield for international travel.

The state-run WAM news agency called the rain Tuesday “a historic weather event” that surpassed “anything documented since the start of data collection in 1949.” That’s before the discovery of crude oil in this energy-rich nation then part of a British protectorate known as the Trucial States.

Rain also fell in Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. However, the rains were acute across the UAE.

The flooding sparked speculation that cloud seeding — flying small planes through clouds dispersing chemicals aimed at getting rain to fall — may have caused the deluge. But experts said the storm systems that produced the rain were forecast well in advance and that cloud seeding would not have caused such flooding.

Several reports quoted meteorologists at the National Center for Meteorology as saying they flew six or seven cloud-seeding flights before the rains. Flight-tracking data analyzed by The Associated Press showed one aircraft affiliated with the UAE’s cloud-seeding efforts flew around the country Monday.

The National, an English-language, state-linked newspaper in Abu Dhabi, quoted an anonymous official at the center on Wednesday as saying no cloud seeding took place on Tuesday, without acknowledging any earlier flights.

The center did not respond to questions Wednesday from the AP.

The UAE, which heavily relies on energy-hungry desalination plants to provide water, conducts cloud seeding in part to increase its dwindling, limited groundwater.

Jeff Masters, a meteorologist for Yale Climate Connections, said the flooding in Dubai was caused by an unusually strong low pressure system that drove many rounds of heavy thunderstorms.

“You don’t need cloud seeding’s influence to account for the record deluge in Dubai,” Masters said.

Scientists also say climate change in general is responsible for more intense and more frequent extreme storms, droughts, floods and wildfires around the world. Dubai hosted the United Nations’ COP28 climate talks just last year. Rising temperatures and other effects of global warming long have been viewed as a threat to life in the already-baking region.

The rains began late Monday, soaking the sands and roadways of Dubai with nearly an inch of rain, according to meteorological data collected at Dubai International Airport. The storms intensified around 9 a.m. local Tuesday and continued throughout the day, dumping more rain and hail onto the overwhelmed city.

By the end of Tuesday, more than 5.59 inches of rainfall had soaked Dubai over 24 hours. An average year sees 3.73 inches of rain at Dubai International Airport, a hub for the long-haul carrier Emirates.

At the airport, standing water lapped on taxiways as aircraft landed. Arrivals were halted Tuesday night, and passengers struggled to reach terminals through the floodwater covering surrounding roads.

One couple, who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity to speak freely in a country with strict laws that criminalize critical speech, called the situation at the airport “absolute carnage.”

“You cannot get a taxi. There’s people sleeping in the Metro station. There’s people sleeping in the airport,” the man said Wednesday.

They ended up getting a taxi to near their home some 18 miles away, but floodwater on the road stopped them. A bystander helped them over a highway barrier with their carry-on luggage, the bottles of gin they picked up from duty-free clinking away.

Dubai International Airport acknowledged Wednesday morning that the flooding had left “limited transportation options” and affected flights as aircraft crews couldn’t reach the airfield.

“Recovery will take some time,” the airport said on the social platform X.

Emirates said the airline had halted check-in for passengers departing from Dubai itself from 8 a.m. until midnight Wednesday as it tried to clear the airport of transit passengers — many of whom had been sleeping where they could in its cavernous terminals.

Passengers on FlyDubai, Emirates’ low-cost sister airline, also faced disruptions.

Paul Griffiths, the airport’s CEO, acknowledged continued issues with flooding Wednesday morning, saying every place an aircraft could be safely parked was taken. Some aircraft had been diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central, the city-state’s second airfield.

“It remains an incredibly challenging time. In living memory, I don’t think anyone has ever seen conditions like it,” Griffiths told the state-owned talk radio station Dubai Eye. “We are in uncharted territory, but I can assure everyone we are working as hard as we possibly can to make sure our customers and staff are looked after.”

Egypt’s national carrier, EgyptAir, also temporarily suspended flights between Cairo and Dubai due to the bad weather.

Schools across the UAE, a federation of seven sheikhdoms, largely shut ahead of the storm and government employees were largely working remotely if able. Many workers stayed home as well, though some ventured out, with the unfortunate stalling out their vehicles in deeper-than-expected water covering spots on some roads. That included parts of the Sheikh Zayed Road, a 12-lane highway through downtown Dubai.

Authorities sent tanker trucks out into the streets and highways to pump away the water. Water poured into some homes, forcing people to bail out their houses.

The country’s hereditary rulers offered no overall damage or injury information for the nation, as some slept in their flooded vehicles Tuesday night. In Ras al-Khaimah, the country’s northernmost emirate, police said one 70-year-old man died when his vehicle was swept away by floodwater.

Khatm al-Shakla, an area near Al Ain in Abu Dhabi, saw 10 inches of rain Tuesday, the most anywhere in the country, officials said.

Authorities canceled school and the government instituted remote work again for Wednesday. Dubai later closed schools for the rest of the week.

Rain is unusual in the UAE, an arid, Arabian Peninsula nation, but occurs periodically during the cooler winter months. Many roads and other areas lack drainage given the lack of regular rainfall, causing flooding.

Meanwhile in neighboring Oman, a sultanate that rests on the eastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula, at least 19 people were killed in heavy rains in recent days, according to a statement Wednesday from the country’s National Committee for Emergency Management. That includes some 10 schoolchildren swept away in a vehicle with an adult, which saw condolences come into the country from rulers across the region.

A meal served on Emirates Business Class

Flying business class can be a real treat. And with Emirates, the experience is unparalleled, featuring exceptional service, comfortable seats and top tier in-flight food and beverage. Generally considered one of the best airlines to fly overseas, Emirates offers top tier business class, comparable with (or better than) first class on countless other airlines. A winner of several travel and service awards, Emirates offers outstanding business class, from pre-boarding to de-planing. Here’s what you need to know before booking a seat.

Distinguishing Between Emirates Business Class And First Class

Emirates First Class is the top tier service, offering private suites, caviar, in-flight showers, a set of pajamas and more amenities like private transfers to the airport. Emirates Business Class is also a luxury ticket, with lie back seats, multicourse meals, champagne , personal care kits and more.

What You Can Expect In Emirates Business Class

Emirates operates two types of aircraft with Business Class, Emirates A380 Business Class and Boeing 777 Business Class . Both experiences are quite similar. Seats recline into a fully flat bed with a soft, comfy mattress, pillow and a cozy blanket. White table clothes are laid out on tray tables for meal service, and an in-seat mini bar is available at all times. Large flat screens offer entertainment and a communal lounge and bar allows passengers to mingle with drinks, snacks and canapes.

Price Ranges For Emirates Business Class

Emirates flights vary in price by destination, time and seat class. A Business Class seat on Emirates typically starts at $3000. Some economy seats can also upgrade to business class before boarding, for a lower fare. For deals, check out Emirates featured fares . Currently, an economy class ticket from Newark (EWR) to Athens (ATH) starts at $701 and a business class ticket starts at $4337.

How To Purchase An Emirates Business Class Ticket

Emirates business class tickets can be purchased directly from Emirates or through credit card loyalty programs and third party booking platforms. American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Capital One miles, and Citi ThankYou points all transfer to Emirates. Several partner airlines, including Air Canada, TAP Portugal and United Airlines allow you to credit miles to an Emirates account.

Best High-Yield Savings Accounts Of 2024

Best 5% interest savings accounts of 2024, the airport and pre-boarding experience.

Every airport is a bit different, but all business travelers will be entitled to lounge access with an Emirates business class ticket. Lounges typically offer a warm buffet of food, snacks and beverages, plus an open bar, comfy seating, WiFi and views of the tarmack. In Milan (MXP), business class and first class passengers can board the aircraft directly from the lounge.

Is Emirates Business Class Worth It?

If you’re looking for a top tier business class experience, Emirates business class is certainly worth the price. Fares can be comparable to other airlines, but passengers can expect a higher quality of service, food and beverage and comfort. If you can afford the fare, have enough miles or points to cash in for business class, or are booking on a corporate card, treat yourself.

Can I travel to Dubai right now? Travel safety and consumer rights explained

Passengers wait for their flight after a rainstorm hit Dubai, causing delays at the Dubai International Airport

Holidaymakers have been warned of travel chaos in Dubai , with heavy downpours causing delays and cancellations throughout United Arab Emirates airports.

The UK Foreign Office has told tourists heading to Dubai to be aware of ‘severe disruption’ due to the extreme weather, which saw the country battered by the most rain it has recorded in 75 years.

Over 142mm of rain fell on Dubai International Airport – the second busiest in the world – over the last 24 hours, more than the average annual amount of 94.7mm – and flooding in the transport have left thousands of Brits struggling to get home .

Some airlines have diverted flights or cancelled them altogether, while authorities have urged anyone planning to travel to Dubai to exercise caution.

If you’re heading to the UAE destination, here’s what you need to know.

Can I travel to Dubai right now? Latest advice after airport floods

People wade through submerged streets at flooded area as heavy rains negatively affect daily life in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Whether you can get to Dubai at the moment will depend on your airline, but even if your flight is still running, it’s likely your travel plans will face disruption.

In a statement, Dubai Airports explained: ‘It’s challenging for departing guests to reach the airport and arrival guests to leave the terminals due to the significant flooding and road blockages, resulting in limited available transport options.

The authority claims recovery will ‘take some time’ but urges guests to check the status of their flight directly with the airline before heading to the airport, and to allow ‘significant extra travel time’.

A further announcement on X made last night (April 17) read: ‘We advise you not to come to the airport, unless absolutely necessary. Flights continue to be delayed and diverted. Please check your flight status directly with your airline.

Passengers crowd at the Dubai International Airport due to flight cancellations and delays in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

‘We are working hard to recover operations as quickly as possible in very challenging conditions.’

This morning, check-in for Emirates and flydubai has reopened at Terminal 3, and Terminal 1 arrivals have restarted. However, it’s still being stressed that only those with confirmed bookings or departure confirmations from their airline should go to the airport.

⚠️We advise you NOT to come to the airport, unless absolutely necessary. Flights continue to be delayed and diverted. Please check your flight status directly with your airline. We are working hard to recover operations as quickly as possible in very challenging conditions. — DXB (@DXB) April 17, 2024

Access roads around the airport are still being cleared too, so although availability of taxis is improving, it’s likely it’ll take longer than usual to get to and from the airport.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office advised British travellers: ‘Check with your airline before traveling. Contact FCDO if you are in the UAE and in need of emergency support.’

Your rights if Dubai flights are cancelled or changed

If you’re already at the airport, restaurants are open and accepting meal vouchers (which will be issued to those experiencing delays of more than four hours). You may also be provided with accommodation or transport if you’re re-routed to the next day.

People wait for transportation amidst floodwater caused by heavy rain on Sheikh Zayed Road highway in Dubai, United Arab Emirates,

Due to the major disruption, this may not have been possible, so the CAA recommends passengers keep the receipt for ‘reasonable’ costs (like food and accommodation) they pay for themselves and claim for reimbursement later.

If you have been delayed for more than five hours and no longer wish to travel then you’re entitled to a refund from the airline, and if you missed your connection flight because your first flight was delayed, you are also entitled to a flight back to your original departure point.

However, once you take a refund or choose to travel later than the first available flight, the airline no longer has any obligation to provide you with food, drink or accommodation.

Under UK law, airlines sometimes have to provide compensation if your flight arrives at its destination more than three hours late, but this depends on what caused the delay. Since these disruptions aren’t the airline’s fault, they fall under  ‘extraordinary circumstances’, meaning you aren’t eligible for compensation.
