The Museo Dabawenyo, or also known as the Museum of the People of Davao, is one of the most known museums in the country. This building is formally known as the Court of First Instance and was restored and rehabilitated to showcase the diverse cultural heritage and the rich history of the city.

Within the museum, visitors can see stilt house replicas, weapons, and musical instruments used by indigenous people. It also houses a full gallery of antiques like armors, chairs, crowns, and lamps of Moro People as well as traditional Filipino clothing, Filipino bills, musical notes, clothes, and more.

The Dabawenyo Museum is located on Fr. Salga Road, which is on Pichon Avenue, only a few meters from the Bonifacio Rotunda and the Osmeña Park. It is accessible from 9 AM to 12 NN from Tuesday to Sunday and from 1 PM to 6 PM on Mondays.

Civet Coffee is made with the help of a civet, a cat-like wild animal that is native to the country, particularly in Davao. It eats the sweet coffee cherries and then poops the beans.

Located in the quiet town of Hinatuan in Surigao del Sur, the Enchanted River remains a mystery. Its true depth remains unknown, although divers have attempted to explore it in the past. Currently, it is open to tourist who wish to see its beauty in person.

The route requires trekking in the mountains to reach the view deck, where you can see the entirety of the lake, before descending to the lakeside community where the camping site is located.

Once in the campsite, you can enjoy the tranquility of the lake area. It’s also a nice experience to mingle with the locals and get to know their culture and lifestyle, swim and kayak at at the lake, and do stargazing at the clear, night sky. Pro Tip: Due to lack of light pollution, Lake Holon is a great place for astrophotography.

Location: North Cotabato

Asik-Asik Falls is a stunning sight to behold — streams of water running down a verdant mountain cliff, looking straight out of a storybook. This is definitely one of the top tourist spots in Mindanao that you should see for yourself!

This waterfall derived its name from the Hiligaynon word asik-asik (“sprinkle sprinkle”). It was already known by the locals but was only discovered by the public when a photo of it was submitted in a national geography contest in 2012. Since then, it has been one of the best tourist attractions in North Cotabato.

There is no water basin in Asik-Asik Falls, but you can sit in a boulder under the streams for a waterfall shower or swim in the river that runs beneath it.

Magpupungko Rock Pools was a popular swimming hole for locals. Over the years, it has risen to become one of the top attractions in Siargao.

Here you can find gorgeous natural pools surrounded by interesting rock formations. The water is so clear and refreshing that you’ll immediately want to dive in!

Magpupungko Rock Pools is located inside a resort. It has a modest in-house restaurant where you can buy food and drinks. Make sure to time your visit here because the tidal pool is only visible during low tide.

Sugba Lagoon is a beautiful lagoon with a floating cottage and restaurant, a diving board where you can jump directly to the water, and watersport rental facilities including kayak and paddleboard. It’s a great place for a swim, a kayaking tour, and generally a place to rest and enjoy the beauty of the island.

Location: Bucas Grande, Surigao del Norte

Sohoton Cove National Park is an otherworldly maze of lush islets and caves. It’s only an hour away from Siargao by boat, making it easily accessible as a day or overnight trip.

Here you can kayak in the Blue Lagoon with its clear blue water, venture deep in Crystal Cave or dive underwater to get inside Hagukan Cave, or take a dinghy into the stingless jellyfish lake. Don’t forget to visit the floating restaurant for delicious seafood and Filipino meals to replenish yourself during your adventure.

Location: Davao del Sur and North Cotabato

Rising over 2965 MASL, Mount Apo is considered the highest mountain in the Philippines. It spans across the provinces of Davao del Sur and North Cotabato.

Mount Apo features different landscapes, from streams and swamps to mossy forests and rocky terrains. Only experienced mountain climbers are advised to go here, as it is considered a major climb with a difficulty of 7/9. The climb from the trailhead to the summit and back usually takes 3 days.

The Philippines features countless beautiful beaches, and one of them is Dahican Beach in Davao. It features a crescent-shaped shoreline and big waves that make it popular among surfers and skimboarders. It’s also a nice option for people who just want to beach bum or get away from the noise of the city for a while.

The Sunken Cemetery is one of the top tourist attractions in Camiguin Island . Here you can see a unique vista — a giant white cross standing above the sea. It is said the the cross marks the resting place of the island’s first settles who were buried alive during the eruption of Mount Vulcan in the 1870s.

You can take a boat to reach the Sunken Cemetery or watch at the shore for its sunset views. You can also swim and snorkel around the area, where you can find colorful corals and fishes.

The Great Sta. Cruz Island, also known as the Pink Beach of Zamboanga , is a must-visit for beach lovers around the world. It is one of the few pink-sand beaches in the Philippines, whose color is caused by the presence of crushed red corals mixed with the sand.

This island is a great day trip from the city. It’s easily accessible, as it only requires a 15- to 20-minute boat ride from the port.

Tourist spots in mindanao agusan del norte province, 1. butuan national museum.

This museum located in Butuan City in Agusan del Norte was established in 1974 after the accidental discovery of some artifacts in the area. You can find different archaeological materials here and the most famous one is the  Balanghai  or the Butuan Boats that date from 4th to 13th centuries A.D.

2. MAGELLAN’S LANDING SITE

Also known as the Magellan’s Anchorage, historical site/park is believed to be where Ferdinand Magellan landed and made blood compact with an old leader in the province. It is located in Masao, Butuan City in Agusan del Norte and one of the favorite Mindanao tourist spots of those who want to learn about the early history of the Philippines.

3. malamawi island.

This beautiful, inhabited island is 1 km away from Isabela, Basilan. It’s a long stretch of white sand beach which is very relaxing and the perfect spot for escape in the city. It has become a popular Mindanao tourist spot now, so we recommend that you avoid visiting during peak seasons if you want to relax and enjoy the area by yourself.

BUKIDNON PROVINCE

4. kiokong white rock wall.

These huge walls inside the Kiokong Eco-Tourism project in Quezon, Bukidnon are known because of the “vertical bivouac” attraction. If you are looking for some serious adventure in Mindanao, don’t miss visiting Kiokong White Rock Wall and go hiking!

5. DAHILAYAN FOREST PARK

Dahilayan Forest Park is one of Mindanao Tourist Spots that is perfect for families and big groups. You can do a lot of activities here such as having a picnic, playing mini golf, trying Go Kart, Bumper Boat and many more.

They offer overnight stays in their relaxing rooms too if you want to spend the night in this relaxing but fun place! It is located at Barangay Dahilayan, Manolo Fortich Bukidnon.

6. KITANGLAD MOUNTAIN RANGE

This mountain range that dominates the northern central part of Bukidnon is famous because of its rainforest that has thousands of diversified wildlife species. The top five highest peaks in this mountain range are Mt. Dulang-dulang, Mt. Kitanglad, Mt. Maagnaw, Mt. Lumuluyaw, and Mt. Tuminungan.

Looking for a place to relax and cool down? Head on to Iligan City’s amazing Tinago Falls! Iligan City is just about an hour away from Cagayan de Oro and is truly one of the most breathtaking places to visit. If you enjoy trekking, then you’re in luck because it is quite a hike to reach Tinago Falls. 

However, we can assure you that once you’re there, you’ll immediately be stunned by its beauty! The water is really blue and cold, and you can go under the waterfalls by riding the raft. There are cottages just across the waterfall if you decide to stay for a while and bring some food. We definitely recommend you visit here and enjoy the lush nature!

8. SEVEN SEAS WATERPARK AND RESORT

This is a newly built recreational area and the first ever world class waterpark established in the country, so this is one of the Cagayan de Oro tourist spots to see. It has grown quite a name for itself and has been visited by many tourists and locals because of the many thrilling rides and slides such as the Cyclone and Abyss Tornado Ride.

The Seven Seas Waterpark can be found at Barra, Opol, so go ahead and visit this place where no one is too young or too old to have fun!

HOW TO GET TO SEVEN SEAS PARK AND ENTRANCE FEE

Its located in Opol just 10 kilometers North of Cagayan de Oro. It opens from 9 am to 5 pm. Prices for adults from Monday to Thursday 800 PHP and 1000 PHP on the weekends. Prices for kids below 4ft 500 PHP weekdays and 600 PHP on the weekends. Kids below 3 ft free entrance.

9. MAPAWA NATURE PARK

One of the most beautiful and breathtaking tourist spots in Cagayan de Oro is the Mapawa Nature Park. This forest park is located at Barangay Cugman, and it offers a wide variety of things to do such as climbing or swimming near the waterfalls, horseback riding, canyoneering and also cliff jumping if you’re feeling brave!

You would not only enjoy all the activities they offer but you could also have fun with nature surrounding you. When you visit Mapawa Nature park, you can just relax, go on a hike, or maybe even set up a camp in the forest. Just be sure to clean up after yourself. Leave no trace behind!

HOW TO GET TO MAPAWA NATURE PARK AND ENTRANCE FEE

The river trek package is 1300 PHP per person with the entrance fee, lunch and bottled water. The environmental fee is 50 PHP, camping is 100 PHP, horseback riding 200 PHP per one hour, swimming pool 75 PHP, Zipline 325 PHP, Trail Run Hike 300 PHP and View Deck Big 1000 PHP and Small View Deck 500 PHP.

It’s opened from 7 am to 5 pm everyday. It’s located in Barangay Cugman. You can get a jeepney until Mapawa Crossing and take habal-habal from there.

CAMIGUIN ISLAND 

10. mantigue island.

We love traveling in the Philippines and one of our favorite destinations in the Philippines is Mantigue Island in Camiguin. Mantigue Island is a paradise to discover and it’s not crowded yet! You can bring your snorkeling gear and avoid paying  200 PHP  rental fee on the island.

You can bring your own food to the island. Also, you can even buy fish in the market and they will cook for you for  100 PHP . There are available cottages for rent and you can buy snacks, sodas and beers.

DAVAO DEL NORTE PROVINCE

11. samal island.

Samal Island is officially known as the Island Garden City of Samal. It’s a beautiful island city where you can relax and have fun at the same time. You can go swimming, snorkeling, island hopping, sunset-watching, and enjoy 24/7 in Samal Island! It’s truly one of the best Mindanao tourist spots that you can’t miss!

DAVAO DEL SUR PROVINCE

12. davao city.

Apart from being an important hub for commerce and industry in the Philippines’ Mindanao region, Davao City is also an awesome travel destination with delicious food, breathtaking nature spots and beautiful people. In the 21st century, it is a wonderful example of a city that straddles two worlds: the old and the new.

Because of this, it has retained its reputation as one of the best Mindanao Tourist Spots. Some of the best Davao tourist spots that you should go to are Roxas City Night Market, Philippine Eagle Center, Davao Crocodile Park, and of course, the icon in the Davao – Mt. Apo.

13. MT. APO

Located in both Davao City and Cotabato Province, Mount Apo is the highest mountain in the Philippines. It rises 10,311 feet above sea level and is one of the country’s most challenging hikes. A typical climb takes about 2 to 4 days and climbers can choose from many different routes to and from its peak. Among the 7 trails to reach the top, the easiest one is Kidapawan Trail.

This mountain range extends through North Cotabato, Davao del Sur, Agusan del Sur and Misamis Oriental. Hiking during the summer is ideal just because the weather is more predictable during these months of April and May.

Before you can climb Mount Apo, you need to register at the Kidapawan Tourism Office and get your permit. You also have to be in tip top physical conditions to be able to climb this mountain. It isn’t a task to be taken lightly but it sure is a fun and rewarding adventure.

DAVAO OCCIDENTAL PROVINCE

14. balut island.

This volcanic island in Davao Occidental is also known as Malulong. There is a volcano in the middle part of the island called Balut Volcano. No need to worry if you want to visit this place because Balut Volcano has no recorded eruptions before.

DAVAO ORIENTAL PROVINCE

15. mati city.

Mati City is the capital of Davao Oriental. This city is one of the must-visit Mindanao Tourist Spots because there are a lot of things to discover and do here. You can go visit Dahican Beach, Sleeping Dinosaur Island, Mt. Hamiguitan, and many more!

16. CAPE OF SAN AGUSTIN

Cape of San Agustin is located in Lavigan in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental. This is composed of 3 lighthouses that serve as the guide of the fishermen in the area, which is the primary source of income for locals. 

17. MT. HAMIGUITAN

Located in Mati City, Mt. Hamiguitan is a 1620-meter high mountain with a diverse wildlife population. You can find (if you’re lucky) Philippine eagles and Nepenthes. It also has a protected 2000-hectare of forest area. This mountain is indeed a gem to Mindanao.

DINAGAT ISLANDS

18. dinagat islands.

The Dinagat Islands are actually a group of islands across Surigao Strait. To get here, you must remember that there are no direct flights going to Dinagat Islands. You have to onboard a flight going to Surigao City and then ride a boat bound for San Jose, the province’s capital.

Because of its beautiful, pristine beaches, the islands are quite crowded during peak seasons so make sure you plan your trip ahead. Some of the beaches in Dinagat Islands that you can visit are Biray-biray, Cab-ilan, and Bita-og. 

LANAO DEL NORTE PROVINCE

19. maria cristina falls.

Maria Cristina Falls is a gem to Lanao del Norte. It is called the Twin Falls as the flow is separated by a rock at the brink of the waterfall. It is truly a majestic view that will captivate you!

MAGUINDANAO PROVINCE

20. the grand mosque of cotabato.

The Grand Mosque of Cotabato is known to locals as The Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque. It’s the largest mosque in the Philippines and you’ll be amazed how beautiful this mosque is. The mosque is located in Barangay Kalanganan II, Cotabato City. 

NORTH COTOBATO PROVINCE

21. asik-asik falls.

Asik-Asik Falls is also called Dulao Falls by the locals. It’s situated in Sitio Dulao of Barangay Upper Dado, Alamada, North Cotabato. It is a beautiful waterfalls where water emanates from a spring covered with green plants and rocks. One of the beautiful Mindanao tourist spots that you can’t miss.

HOW TO GET TO ASIK-ASIK FALLS

Going to Asik-Asik Falls is not that easy because you have to endure an almost 2-hour bumpy motorcycle ride for  700 PHP . It already includes going back to Midsayap. Oh, and the adventure doesn’t stop there because you still have to go down from the 376-step stone stairs to finally see the waterfalls. It’s worth it anyway!

SARANGANI PROVINCE

22. gumasa beach.

Because of its stunning beauty, Gumasa Beach can be compared to  Boracay  in Aklan. It’s even called the “Boracay of the South” because of its similarity with the famous beach- white, fine sand with crystal blue waters. It’s definitely one of the must-visit Mindanao tourist spots!

SOUTH COTABATO PROVINCE

23. lake sebu.

This natural lake is located in Lake Sebu municipality within the Alah Valley Region. Because of its ability to provide irrigation to the provinces of South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat, this is one of the country’s most important watersheds and considered a gem to the Mindanaos.

24. LAKE HOLON

This picturesque lake in T’Boli, South Cotabato is one of the beautiful places in Mindanao that you should go to. Ever since it has become famous in Mindanao, tourists keep on coming here. The adventure going to Lake Solon is indeed worth it because once you see the pristine waters and beautiful views in the lake, you’ll surely feel rewarded and relaxed!

SURIGAO DEL NORTE PROVINCE

25. siargao island.

Siargao is probably one of the most famous and most-visited among the Mindanao Tourist Spots in this blog. There are several beautiful beaches to go to such as Daku Island, Guyam Island, Naked Island, Alegria Beach, and many more! You can go swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, kayaking, beach hopping, and surfing in these beautiful beaches with clear blue waters.

26. SOHOTON COVE

Sohoton Natural Park was an amazing place to discover combining the beauty of the place with the adventure of the caves, snorkeling and amazing drone shots.

You will have different options for this tour. This time we decided to join an organized tour from General Luna. Prices were 1800 PHP for locals and 2000 PHP for foreigners and they included an amazing lunch and the fees of Sohoton Natural Park, Daku, Naked Island, and Guyam Islam.

The departure to Sohoton National Park was at 7 am and it took 2 hours to get to Sohoton Natural Park. Once there, we got a guide and a small boat to go around the jellyfish sanctuary but it wasn’t the season and we couldn’t see jellyfish. The landscape was great and you can do snorkeling there. This activity lasts around 20 minutes.

We also got a boat and a guide to explore the caves in Sohoton. We did two caves with crystalline water and the last one included a jump. The visit to the caves took around an hour and when we were back they prepared an amazing lunch for us with pork, fish, vegetables and fruits.

After lunch is the worst part of the tour 2 hours sailing and it was a little bit wavy until reaching Naked Island, Daku and Guyam. For these three islands, they allowed us 30-40 minutes each to finally go back to General Luna at 5 pm.

27. LAPSAY LAGOON

Lapsay Lagoon is part of a huge protected sanctuary in Barangay Tinago, Surigao del Norte. Aside from this lagoon where you can go snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, boating, rafting, and trekking, there are also mini islands and caves that you can explore in the sanctuary.

The bright blue river in Hinatuan is indeed enchanted. Did you know that it is believed to be the home of spirits? Locals believe that the spirits are the one who take care of the river, making it aqua blue and deep.

Different types of fish swim in this deep blue river. It is a scenic spot for swimming. Take note that life jackets are required when swimming in the Enchanted River.

29. BRITANNIA GROUP OF ISLANDS IN SAN AGUSTIN

8. The Sunken Cemetery

The Sunken Cemetery is one of the most prominent tourist attractions in Mindanao. This magnificent yet intriguing destination is located just off the coast of Cagayan de Oro. The reason? Many are scared they heard Mindanao. Mindanao is relatively safe. I had visited numerous tourist spots in Mindanao, and I didn’t experience any problems for each of my travels. Of course, every traveler must exercise the necessary precautions when visiting a new place, including all places in the world.

In line with the above, we recommend the following if you plan to visit any tourist spots in Mindanao.

• Research. Before your trip, it is imperative to research the place before hitting the road. You should know if there is a pending advisory at the place. Learn the bus schedules, especially the last trip, etc. Many daring tourists meet some accidents because they miss the last bus and are forced to sleep on the street or at the terminal.
• Contact the Local Tourism Office. This office will give you sound advice on where to go or whether to go in certain seasons.
• Avail the services of accredited tour operators. Let’s face it: you need a guide in some places, and you cannot do it alone.
• Get some travel insurance. Just a few more bucks will surely save you from any unforeseen accidents.
• Check and recheck the information you get online. Not all travel bloggers who wrote about the place have been there. This is one of the reasons why I put my pics on my blog pages as much as possible to show the readers researching that I had been in the place.
• Ask. Try to be friendly and talk to the locals when you reach the place. They can provide you with priceless pieces of information and tips.

DOT expo to showcase Mindanao attractions

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) -- Northern Mindanao will open its doors to one of the biggest travel and tourism events in Mindanao as the Department of Tourism (DOT)-10 hosts the 2nd Mindanao Tourism Expo (MTEx) 2024, showcasing Mindanao's best attractions, from April 26 to 28, at the Limketkai Center Atrium in this city.

The expo will bring in the different regional offices of DOT in Mindanao, which include the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), as they showcase the different travel and tourism sites in their respective regions as a way of promoting and showcasing the island of Mindanao as a safe tourism haven and a myriad of world-class tourism products capable of competing with the best tourism destinations globally.

“We want to lose the stigma of being afraid to come to Mindanao. That is why this program, the Mindanao Tourism Expo, was born because we need to promote Mindanao [tourism] as a whole,” said DOT Marketing and Promotion Division Head Juan Carlos Valentino N. Baclig.

He added that Tourism Sec. Maria Esperanza Christina Garcia Frasco is expected to grace the event. Aside from the secretary, various tourism stakeholders coming from different regions of the country are expected to join the three-day expo.

DOT-10 is optimistic that the MTEx 2024, which is taking place in the region, will enhance the tourist influx in the region in the upcoming months, enabling the department to meet its tourist arrival targets. Pre-pandemic 2018–2019 saw the region record around 3 million tourist arrivals, but the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country, causing the number to drop to 650,000. However, by 2023, the number of tourist arrivals began to increase, with an estimated 2.5 million tourists visiting the region.

“Hopefully, by the third and fourth quarters of this year, we can see an increase in the number of tourist arrivals after the expo. Just like the first expo in Davao, our tourist arrival increased after the first MTEx, from 1.6 million in 2022 to 2.5 million in 2023,” Baclig said. 

In addition to the attractions, there will be a placement for pasalubong items and a distribution of taste samples. Also, tour operators and hoteliers will be giving away discounted rates on packages and rooms.

“There are also raffle prizes at the end of each day during the travel expo, which are round-trip tickets up for grabs: 5 domestic and 1 international travel,” he said. 

Aside from the display coming from Regions 9–13 and BARMM, DOT-10 shared that Regions 1–8 will also feature their respective tourist destinations, hotels, and pasalubong products.

The DOT-10 invites everyone to attend the 2nd Mindanao Tourism Expo and enjoy Mindanao's beauty. The department also urges the public to help promote Northern Mindanao and the Philippines, as well as to continue to support and patronize tourist establishments that are DOT-accredited. (JAKA/PIA-10)

I am MAD launches ‘Love the Volunteer Vibes’ in Davao City

SPREADING the true spirit and positive vibes of volunteerism, nonprofit I am MAD (Making A Difference) Volunteers Inc. launched its newest campaign catchphrase “Love the Volunteer Vibes” at its annual volunteer reunion and 14th-anniversary celebration held recently in Davao City.

Dubbed ‘MAD Meet,’ this year’s gathering of volunteers took a major leap as it was held for the first time in Mindanao, at the serene Davao Bamboo Sanctuary and Ecological Park—the event’s venue partner.

“Hosting this year’s MAD Meet in Davao marks one of our organization’s greatest achievements, as it breaks away from our traditional Luzon-based gatherings since the inception of the annual reunion of volunteers,” said Big Jay Lagang, MAD Meet Davao convenor and chief of volunteers for countryside operations of I am MAD.

Under its new banner, “Love the Volunteer Vibes: I am MAD to the 14th Power,” the organization hopes to express an amplified level of positivity and enthusiasm associated with engaging in volunteer work.

Furthermore, the latest theme also supports the country’s “Love the Philippines” campaign as it has been a trademark of I am MAD to visit local tourist spots after each outreach program. This year, I am MAD is set to conduct its flagship program MAD Camp in at least 12 schools across different provinces and explore seven tourist destinations for its MADventure initiative.

Lagang, a dedicated member of I am MAD for nearly a decade and presently serving as a news anchor/reporter at People’s Television Network (PTV) Davao, expresses hope that both existing members and newcomers will wholeheartedly embrace and embody the spirit of “Love the Volunteer Vibes” that this kind of event fosters.

Celebrating milestones, recognizing volunteers

Meanwhile, aside from unveiling its latest campaign and plans for 2024, the two-day reunion also highlighted the organization’s accomplishments in 2023, including its 11 MAD Camps around the Philippines, MAD Talks Padayon—a volunteerism and mental health forum, MADx—an employee engagement program for corporate partners, and its newest social enterprise—MADventure, among others.

Through these accomplishments that reflect the organization’s commitment to helping and inspiring young people to be a part of nation-building, I am MAD was likewise recognized by the Department of Education as one of its “MATATAG” Agenda partners.

Filled by the serene ambiance of bamboo-inspired architecture seamlessly blending with the lush surroundings at Davao Bamboo Sanctuary and Ecological Park, the evening culminated with volunteers radiantly adorned in earth-tone outfits during “Star MADgic Night: Gawad I am MAD.” This event celebrated and honored the dedicated volunteers who contributed to the successful conduct of I am MAD programs, initiatives, and engagements throughout 2023.

Some of the special awardees and raffle winners received gift certificates and other tokens courtesy of its sponsors — Power Mac Center, The Loop, Alaska Milk Corporation, Wino Travel Services, WinoPay, Mik Dizon & Alex Garrow, Meat Outlet, The Dağlí’s Creations, ENGR MD HUB, and The New Channel.

Call  for volunteers, donors

To invite more volunteers and join its call to “ Love the Volunteer Vibes ,” the MADmates (volunteers) also shot a call-for-volunteers music video to entice more young people and professionals alike to engage with I am MAD and its advocacies.

I am MAD is encouraging everyone to be part of its upcoming MAD Camp volunteer opportunities this year in the following areas: Davao Occidental, Dinagat Islands, Romblon, Southern Leyte, Davao del Norte, Iloilo, Aurora, Oriental Mindoro,  Palawan, Cebu, Bataan, and Rizal. Recognized by the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards Foundation, MAD Camp is the organization’s flagship outreach program that spans three days. Volunteers gather to facilitate values formation activities aligned with the Department of Education’s core advocacies and to engage school children aged 10-12 in tasks aimed at promoting positive Filipino traits. The group typically stays at the beneficiary school for the duration of the camp, with the final day reserved for local community immersion and exploration.

Every MAD Camp is supported by a fundraiser called BIDA Eskwela  (Bigay Ayuda para sa Eskwela) in which funds collected will be used to provide each student participant a “Bag of Dreams” with school supplies and other tokens. This year, the organization is pushing for the “ Piso mula sa Puso para sa Pangarap ko ” theme aiming to secure donations for as little as one peso. With such a small amount, I am MAD believes the collective efforts of everyone will make a big difference. Donations can be made through bit.ly/bidadonate .
