Alexisonfire announce 2023 Australian tour dates
The Canadian post-hardcore outfit will play their first Australian shows in six years in support of new album 'Otherness'
Alexisonfire have announced they will tour Australia for the first time in six years, playing four shows in February to support their new album, ‘Otherness’.
The Canadian post-hardcore outfit will kick their tour off on February 17 at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall, with a show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre following on February 20. The band then will play the Forum in Melbourne on February 24, and wrap up at Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on February 27.
Alexisonfire will be joined for all dates by Tasmanian punks Luca Brasi , who released their own latest album, ‘Everything Is Tenuous’, last year. Tickets for the tour will go on sale next Thursday (November 17) at 10am local time, with a Frontier Touring pre-sale kicking off on Tuesday (November 15). Find tickets here for Brisbane and here for everywhere else.
‘Otherness’, Alexisonfire’s first studio album in 13 years, arrived in June after being previewed with singles like ‘Sweet Dreams Of Otherness’ and ‘Sans Soleil’ . “As much as we love playing the old songs, we don’t want to be a nostalgia act. The only reason to come back is if we feel we still have something to say,” frontman George Pettit said when announcing the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Old Crows/Young Cardinals’.
“We spent so much time on the road thinking that if we stopped, people would lose interest. But when we went away, it only got bigger. We all carved new paths for ourselves, so coming back to Alexisonfire is a purely enjoyable creative venture. Something special happens when we get in a room together.”
After announcing their disbandment in 2011 and embarking on a farewell tour the following year, Alexisonfire reunited in 2015. Prior to announcing ‘Otherness’, the band released a string of standalone singles, including 2019’s ‘Familiar Drugs’ and ‘Complicit’, along with ‘Season Of The Flood’ in 2020.
Alexisonfire’s 2023 Australian tour dates are:
FEBRUARY Friday 17 – Brisbane, Fortitude Music Hall Monday 20 – Sydney, Enmore Theatre Friday 24 – Melbourne, The Forum Monday 27 – Adelaide, Hindley Street Music Hall

People got very excited when celebrated Canadian artist Dallas Green announced he was bringing City And Colour back to Australia for a series of theatre shows and festival dates in the early part of 2023.
Now it's time fans of his heavier work to get fired up, because Alexisonfire have today confirmed their first Australian tour since 2017, which will happen just after the City And Colour dates wrap up.
It's great timing, as the band have just recently released Otherness , their fifth album and first in 13 years.
It's an incredibly strong return from the band, who swore they wouldn't release any new music unless they felt it was really the right thing to do.
"As much as we love playing the old songs, we don’t want to be a nostalgia act," frontman George Pettit said in a statement.
"The only reason to come back is if we feel we still have something to say."
The band took a few years off at the start of the 2010s and were blown away to discover their popularity hadn't dwindled one bit while they were away. Most importantly, when they got back together, the magic was still there.
"Coming back to Alexisonfire is a purely enjoyable creative venture," Petit said. "Something special happens when we get in a room together."
Green recently got the chance to Take 5 on Mornings with Zan Rowe, picking a broad selection on songs that offered a great insight into the music that's been inspiring him of late. Hear it below.
When the band return to Australia in February, they'll play huge along the east coast and in Adelaide.
It's the eighth time they've toured here – safe to say those first shows were a little bit smaller than these ones – and anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing them in the past will attest to the consistent power of their performances.
As if this news wasn't exciting enough, they'll also bring Tasmanian punk favourites Luca Brasi along for the ride, making this an unmissable night of high quality, emotive punk rock.
Catch them playing the following shows. Tickets are on sale Thursday 17 November.
Friday 17 February – The Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane
Monday 20 February – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
Friday 24 February – The Forum, Melbourne
Monday 27 February – Hindley Street Music Hall, Adelaide

Alexisonfire will return to Australia for the first time since 2017 in February 2023, with the Tassie favourites Luca Brasi joining them on all dates.
The shows start on Friday, 17 February, at The Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, then loop to the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Monday, 20 February, Melbourne's Forum Theatre on Friday, 24 February, and end the run on Monday, 27 February, at the Hindley Street Music Hall in Adelaide.
These dates come after co-vocalist Dallas Green plays at Summersalt Festival and a string of solo headline shows as City And Colour. There are some significant gaps in the above touring schedule; here's hoping that anyone who misses out has extra dates announced!
Alexisonfire have toured Australia seven times, while Green has stopped here 18 times so far, with ten previous tours under his moniker, City And Colour. The Canadian group released their first album in 13 years, Otherness , in June this year.
From 2002 to 2009, the band was one of the most popular and influential post-hardcore bands going around. They released four albums that are platinum-certified in Canada: Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Canadian No.1 Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009).
Green, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Wade MacNeil , bellowing vocalist George Pettit, bassist Chris Steele and drummer Jordan Hastings will be welcomed back to Australia with open arms.

Admired by Australian audiences, on their eighth visit down under Alexisonfire will perform songs from their celebrated catalogue, along with tunes from their new record Otherness – never before heard live by local audiences.
Otherness is the first full length studio album in over thirteen years from the group Rolling Stone declared “put Canadian post-hardcore on the map”. Their most cohesive and self-actualized record to date, across the ten tracks of Otherness the band builds a “deliciously gritty record” ( Line Of Best Fit ).
“As much as we love playing the old songs, we don’t want to be a nostalgia act. The only reason to come back is if we feel we still have something to say,” frontman George Pettit insists. “We spent so much time on the road thinking that if we stopped, people would lose interest. But when we went away, it only got bigger. We all carved new paths for ourselves, so coming back to Alexisonfire is a purely enjoyable creative venture. Something special happens when we get in a room together.”
Between 2002 and 2009, Alexisonfire released four hugely successful studio albums, all platinum-certified in their native Canada; Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Canadian No.1 Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009).
The band’s legacy across Canada and the world cannot be overstated; from their 2001 inception in Ontario, five guys playing aggressive rock (with no less than three of them singing and screaming) grew to a hockey-arena headlining phenomenon while pushing and pulling between spirited guitar leads, melodic might, and emotional weight.
Dallas Green’s engaging croon; the urgent attitude of Wade MacNeil; the heavy bellow of George Pettit; all anchored by a mix of vulnerability, confidence, iconoclasm, and celebratory recklessness. As every Alexisonfire song persistently expands and contracts, bassist Chris Steele and drummer Jordan Hastings remain impossibly tight, locked into unrelenting swinging grooves.
Alexisonfire has blown audiences away at major international festival appearances over Northern Hemisphere summer, including Lollapalooza across South America, Canada’s Born & Raised Festival and a “flawless” Rage Against The Machine North American support.
This February, experience music at its best when Alexisonfire take the stage with special guests Luca Brasi for four mind-blowing live shows.

Definately going want to see them again. Very worth it
Took the stage with an incredible amount of energy and kept it through the entire show. Everyone was singing and moshing.
