Safari Kid USA

Afterschool programs.

Education begins and ends in school and within the confines of the classroom is a wrong notion. We at Safari Kid believe, education is an ongoing process, which neither begins at school nor ends at school. Safari Kid offers a well rounded, enriching comprehensive After School Program for all children in grades K-8. The thrust is in helping your child complete their homework packets, assess their respective strengths, capabilities and weaknesses too and at the same time create and work out a curriculum that’s customized for each child. Yes, we believe that teachers are like doctors and just as treatment is meted out as suits each individual patient, learning too has to be customized keeping in view individual potentials, weaknesses and interests. Children benefit from the weekly packets that reinforces and complements concepts taught in school as well as in Safari Kid. We also take pride in saying that our students get perfect scores in STAR tests (California State test, USA) and are the best among GATE (Gifted and Talented Education, USA) students, preparing kids for STAR and GATE tests happens to be among our prominent features.

Afterschool

Apart from giving students a strong academic foundation, we take care of all kinds of extra-curricular activities too. Our well-balanced program includes extra-curricular activities like Chess, Sports, Arts and Crafts, Public Speaking, Language coaching (Hindi, Spanish, Mandarin etc), computer classes at no additional cost (For Students enrolled in Our After School program). It’s not just about making these activities for children available; Safari Kid students get chances to display their skills too. For instance, they are always encouraged to participate in state
level chess tournaments, spelling bees etc.

The Safari Kid Annual Day Talent show, where kids get the chance to sing, dance, act and perform in many different ways before a full-fledged audience is an added highlight and serves as a confidence-booster to kids.

Bestow your trust in us and our team of accredited teachers; you lose nothing, your child gains a lot…

Our well-balanced Before/After School Program includes:

  • Customized Curriculum – Language Arts & Math
  • Public Speaking & Debate

  • Common Core
  • Geography & Spelling Bee

My grand daughter has been going here. So far, so good, no complaints. I was hesitant at first from reading some of the other reviews, but I had to experience it for myself. My granddaughter seems to like it, and the kids love her!!

Thank you for your kind words! It's our mission to provide a safe and inclusive space where children can learn, play, and grow. We're grateful for your support and feedback.

Photo of Geetha S.

We sent our daughter here to preschool, TK and summer camp over a period of slightly more than 2 yrs. Really nice campus with lots of play area and greenery right next to a church and Montessori. It is secluded and safe. Always felt safe sending our child here. When they resumed activities after being shutdown during the height of Covid, they maintained strict mask mandates, sanitization habits and social distancing. This was actually quite effective and is evidenced by the fact that their first Covid outbreak happened within a month of getting rid of the mask mandate, which was few months after kids vaccines were available. All staff are kind, nurturing and respectful. There was a change of ownership in mid 2022 and the new owner Seema is very enthusiastic and is determined to ensure the school performs at its best in all aspects. They are open to feedback and constant improvement. We also like the mix of kids from a variety of ethnicities giving our daughter a chance to develop friendships beyond racial and cultural differences. We have seen a lot of teacher churn over the 2 yrs but luckily all replacements have been able to maintain the quality. We wish the allergy standards are more strictly enforced in potlucks or parent sponsored birthday foods. All major holidays are celebrated well, so there is good community building and the weekly newsletter and updates on ProCare app are great. We will miss sending our daughter here. A great place for anyone looking to kickstart their kids education.

Yogesh, thank you for your kind words. We feel humbled and motivated to provide the best care possible for the young minds attending our preschool.

I had a wonderful experience with Safari kids daycare for my toddler. The staff is incredibly caring and attentive, and they go above and beyond to make sure my child feels comfortable and safe. The facility is clean, bright, and filled with age-appropriate toys and activities. The daily updates and pictures they send are a nice touch and help me feel connected to my child throughout the day. I highly recommend Safari Kids- Hayward to any parent looking for a nurturing and stimulating environment for their little one.

Thank you for your wonderful review!

I want to start off by saying I am a very understanding person but somethings are just not acceptable. I enrolled my 2nd grader in Safari Kid afterschool program because I needed help with afterschool care. The place was nice and lots of happy kids I saw, however I'm not sure what happened yesterday that caused such negligence. I spoke with the director last week we outlined details for pickup and I felt comfortable. My sons first day, I prepped him to look out for the director (she told me she would be getting him on the first day so she would be able to give instructions to the following teachers that would do it thereafter) and he was excited. I didn't hear anything from her that first day and I called to see if she needed anything and basically just to confirm. But no answer, I did leave a message though. At 2:51 - 6 minutes after school let out I got a call from them saying they went to school and school had let out hours ago. Confused -I said excuse me ? She proceeded to confirm the school and said the wrong school ! I work in SF it's up to an hour drive that's why I needed their help. So now I'm upset because I'm in traffic and who knows when she will be there to get my son, I had to call the office to inform them of the mess up. And after all this I finally get back to Hayward and go pick up my baby, the director didn't mention anything, not an apology or anything. Just pulled out papers prepared for me to pay tuition and I had to stop her there. NO APOLOGY NO EXPLANATION NO NOTHING? won't be back don't take your kids here I know they child care subsidy helps a lot of parent pay for this child care but keep looking. They don't REALLY have a heart or I feel like I would have at least gotten a heartfelt apology. Seemed more upset she was losing $650 a month for my kid. Distasteful! Negligent! UNACCEPTABLE!

Photo of Iris B.

I want to start by saying, Thank You! My husband and I are two full time working parents with very limited outside help, The director and her teachers has treated my child as their own! It is a great feeling knowing your child is being properly cared for while you're at work. My daughter (2 1/2yrs) old is very clingy to me, very spoiled as she is the youngest, so I thought it would take her awhile to adjust, but, to my surprise she absolutely LOVES going to school!!! She say's "bye mommy" anytime I am dropping her off with a huge smile on her face! This review is long overdue as my child has already been attending for a few months now and she has already advanced to the next level! Thank you for the continue love and care that you all have giving to my child, words cannot express my gratitude!

Photo of Penney L.

Absolutely the best! Great great place. We've been sending our son here for only a relatively short time but are already seeing such positive growth...he loves going to school and is really blossoming! The teachers and the Director Ms. Seema are all so very kind and caring and provide a safe and nurturing environment. They have a great curriculum as well and a clean, bright facility with lots of age appropriate toys and materials. Highly recommend. They really go above and beyond to make sure kids are cared for and comfortable at school.

Photo of Twinkle P.

I have a 3 year old and he is in Pre-K Safari Kids Hayward. It is a diversified school with great teachers who not only looks after toddlers but also works on them individually per the child's need. Seema who is the owner/director is continuously working on improving the overall environment for kids. The Teachers also don't let the kids leave unless they recognize the pick up person. Safe for my kid.

Photo of Sharon C.

My daughter started the toddler program at Safari kids in August. While my husband and I do work from home, i felt that my child needed time to bond with other children and activities instead of screen time. I was very worried about my child adapting to a new place, people, and other kids. The first week I would call/email Ms Henna throughout the day. She was crying the first week, but always assured me she is doing well and will send me photos of her day. Now, my daughter is talking so much and saying a lot of big words. She knows her shapes, colors, and numbers all before turning 2. I am happy I chose Safari Kids. I would highly recommended this school for your kids.

Sharon, appreciate the kind words. I'll pass this along to my staff who give it their best to care for the kids.

Biden's new student loan forgiveness plan could help 30 million borrowers. Here's who would qualify.

President Joe Biden once again is trying to deliver widespread student debt forgiveness, with a new plan unveiled on Monday that could help about 30 million borrowers erase some or all of their college loans.

The latest attempt at broad debt relief comes less than a year after the Supreme Court blocked Biden's previous attempt to help student borrowers, when the court's  June 2023 ruling denied up to $20,000 in forgiveness to roughly 40 million Americans.

Biden, who had made student loan relief a major campaign pledge, unveiled the new plan on Monday, describing it as potentially "life changing" for millions of Americans. About 43 million people are carrying $1.7 trillion in student debt, a burden that some borrowers and their advocates say hampers their ability to buy a home or achieve other financial milestones.

"While a college degree still is a ticket to the middle class, that ticket is becoming much too expensive. Much too expensive," Biden said an event at Madison College in Madison, Wisconsin. "The ability for working and middle-class folks to repay their student loans has become so burdensome that a lot can't repay it for even decades after being in school."

Here's what to know about Biden's new plan and who would qualify.

How is this plan different from the one struck down by the Supreme Court?

The new plan relies on a different law to provide debt relief to student borrowers.

The previous plan relied on the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions Act, or HEROES Act, a pandemic-era stimulus package. The Supreme Court ruled that law didn't provide the Biden administration with the authority to forgive student debt.

The new plan turns to an older law, the Higher Education Act, which allows the Secretary of Education to "compromise, waive or release" federal student loans. It's through this mechanism that the Biden administration is tackling its new debt relief program.

Who will qualify for debt forgiveness under the new plan?

There are 5 major groups of borrowers who could benefit under the new plan.

  • 2.5 million borrowers who have been in repayment for 20 years or more.

The Biden administration said people with only undergraduate debt could qualify for forgiveness if they first began repaying their loans at least 20 years ago, or on or before July 1, 2005. Borrowers with graduate school debt would qualify if they first began repaying their loans 25 years ago, or on or before July 1, 2000.

Borrowers don't have to be enrolled in an income-driven repayment plan to qualify, the White House said. Both direct loans and direct consolidation loans would be covered.

  • People with debt who attended "low-financial-value programs"

College is supposed to provide its graduates with the skills to achieve higher-income careers, but there are some programs that have left people in debt but without a marketable degree, such as some offered by for-profit colleges like the now-defunct Corinthian Colleges .

The new plan would cancel student debt for loans from colleges or programs that lost their eligibility to participate in the Federal student aid program or were denied recertification because they cheated students, the White House said. Borrowers who also attended colleges that don't provide "sufficient value," such as leaving grads without the ability to earn more than a high school grad, would also be eligible for relief.

  • People experiencing hardship in paying back their loans.

Borrowers who are experiencing hardship that hampers their ability to repay their loans could also qualify for forgiveness. Although the White House didn't specify the financial threshold for qualifying under this pathway, it said this could cover borrowers at high risk of defaulting on their student loans or who are grappling with issues like medical debt.

  • 25 million borrowers whose balances ballooned because of interest.

Some borrowers have seen their balances grow due to a financial issue called "negative amortization," in which a person's loan balance keeps growing despite their consistently making payments. Under the plan, roughly 25 million people who have experienced this issue could get up to $20,000 of their interest canceled.

  • 2 million low- and middle-income borrowers who qualify for forgiveness but haven't applied.

The plan would also provide debt relief for about 2 million low- and middle-income borrowers who qualify for programs like Public Service Loan Forgiveness or income-driven repayment plans but haven't applied for them.

"No application will be needed for borrowers to receive this relief if the plan is implemented as proposed," the White House said.

What are the next steps to getting the plan approved?

The Education Department said it plans to release a formal proposal in the "coming months." That would usually be followed by a public comment period of 60 days. Then if the rule is finalized by November 1, it would usually take effect the following July — in this case, July 2025.

But the Higher Education Act authorizes the education secretary to fast-track rules for "early implementation" in some cases. The Biden administration recently  used that power  to accelerate student loan cancellation offered through a new federal repayment plan. Invoking that authority could allow Biden to start canceling debt later this year.

When could the new plan go into effect?

That's not known yet because the plan has to get pass some additional hurdles before becoming effective, as noted above. Asked by reporters when U.S. student loan recipients might see their interest balances canceled, officials said the forgiveness could happen starting "early this fall."

Could the plan be challenged in court?

Yes, conservative opponents are expected to challenge Biden's plan in court.

Republicans have repeatedly fought Biden's plan for student loan cancellation, saying it's an unfair benefit shouldered by taxpayers who repaid their loans or didn't go to college. Opponents say the Supreme Court was clear that widespread loan cancellation must come from Congress.

Separately, seven states, led by Missouri, filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday challenging Biden's  SAVE Plan, an income-based repayment program that was introduced last year. The new lawsuit largely mirrors another suit  filed last month  by Republican attorneys general in 11 states, led by Kansas.

The suit doesn't directly challenge Biden's newest plan for cancellation, but its architect, Missouri's attorney general, separately threatened to bring action against that plan, too.

If Biden's plan faces a lawsuit, courts could order the administration to halt cancellation until legal questions are sorted out. That scenario could leave the plan on hold beyond the November presidential election. Even if it survives legal challenges, a Donald Trump victory would spell almost certain doom for Biden's plan.

Every generation deserves a fair, healthy future – from kids, to parents, to grandparents. It’s why we’re supporting families, one of the many things that we are doing in Budget 2024 to build an economy that helps every generation get ahead.

Children deserve to have the best start in life. But today, nearly one in four children in Canada do not get enough food. That impacts their health and their opportunities to learn and grow. Higher grocery prices are making it hard for parents to afford to put enough good, healthy food on the table. Study after study has shown that when kids eat well, they do better in school. And when kids do well, that sets them up for success. Everyone deserves a fair shot at success, and we believe that fairness means we support each other at every stage of life – and that starts from childhood.

That’s why we’ve made generational investments like the Canada Child Benefit, which provides families with up to nearly $8,000 per child, per year, to provide the essentials their kids need. And since 2015, 650,000 children have been lifted out of poverty, meaning Canada’s child poverty rate has fallen by more than half.

And when it comes to helping kids, especially vulnerable kids, we’re going to keep going.

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced a new National School Food Program . With an investment of $1 billion over five years, the Program, included in Budget 2024, will launch with a target of providing meals to 400,000 more kids every year, beyond those served by existing school food programs. For moms and dads, it will mean the peace of mind that your kids are taken care of and do not go hungry. For kids, it will mean healthy meals – helping them learn, grow, and reach their full potential. This is a generational investment in the future of our kids, and we’re going to work with provinces and territories and Indigenous partners to ensure every child has the food they need.

The Program will be a safety net for the kids who need this support the most. The lack of access to food disproportionately impacts children from lower-income families and from racialized and Indigenous communities. With this program, we’re getting healthy food on the plates of growing kids.

This includes investments for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities as well as Self-Governing and Modern Treaty partners, many of whom have some of the highest rates of food insecurity in Canada. Investments will also support capacity building and engagement with Indigenous partners to co-develop culturally appropriate solutions. These partnerships will aim to tackle food insecurity by advancing Indigenous-led solutions and will further our work on reconciliation.

The new National School Food Program will also help provinces, territories, and Indigenous partners expand their existing school food programs to make sure more children across the country can enjoy the healthy meals they need. The Program is good for parents and kids, and it’s good for the economy as well. It will help take pressure off of families and invest directly in the future of our kids, while improving children’s health, education, and well-being.

Last week, we announced measures to protect renters and create more affordable child care spaces. This is on top of our actions to improve health care and dental care, strengthen pensions, and increase access to medications – making sure that, no matter your background or income, you have what you need to be healthy. We all depend on Canada’s future success. And Canada’s success depends on the youngest generations being healthy, doing well, and being set up to succeed.

“The National School Food Program is a game changer. The Program will take pressure off of families, invest directly in the future of our kids, and make sure they’re able to reach their full potential – feeling healthy and happy. This is about fairness and doing what’s right for our kids to get the best start in life.” The Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada
“Since 2015, we’ve reduced child poverty from 16.3 per cent to just 6.4 per cent in 2021 – lifting 650,000 kids out of poverty. Today, the rising price of groceries is making it tough for families, especially Millennial parents, to afford the food their kids need. To make sure every kid gets their fair chance at a great start in life, we’re launching a $1 billion National School Food Program to help another 400,000 kids get the food they need to thrive.” The Hon. Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance
“We’re creating a National School Food Program because kids learn better on a full stomach. This Program will have an incredible impact, supporting parents with the higher cost of groceries, and giving children every opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.” The Hon. Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development

Quick Facts

  • The Government of Canada’s Budget 2024 will be tabled in the House of Commons by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
  • Restore generational fairness for renters, particularly Millennials and Gen Z, by taking new action to protect renters’ rights and unlock pathways for them to become homeowners.
  • Save money for more families and help more moms return to their careers by building more affordable child care spaces and providing training to early childhood educators across Canada.
  • Nearly one in four children do not get enough food, and that has a real impact on their opportunities to learn and grow. According to studies, students who consistently consumed a nutritious breakfast attained higher grades in reading, math, and science compared to their peers who seldom or never did.
  • reducing hunger, food insecurity, and health inequities;
  • supporting students’ attendance, academic outcomes, and achievement;
  • supporting families by reducing food costs and the time required to prepare school lunches; and,
  • supporting local farmers, local economies, as well as sustainable food systems and practices.
  • Giving families more money through the Canada Child Benefit to help with the costs of raising children and make a real difference in the lives of kids in Canada. The Canada Child Benefit, which is providing up to $7,437 per child in 2023-24, is indexed annually to keep up with the cost of living and has helped lift more than half a million children out of poverty since its launch in 2016.
  • Delivering an early learning and child care system across all provinces and territories, which has already cut fees for regulated child care to an average of $10-a-day or less in over half of all provinces and territories, and by 50 per cent or more in all others.
  • Improving access to dental health care for children under the age of 12 through the Canada Dental Benefit , and soon for children under 18 with the Canadian Dental Care Plan , because no one should have to choose between taking care of their kids’ teeth and putting food on the table.
