chan brother turkey tour review

Booked a 15 days group tour package to Europe for my family of 4 in a NATAS fair with Chan Brothers. Selected this agency thinking that it is a big name in Singapore and should be reasonablely good, turned out to be a big disappoinment and there were many unhappy incidents during the trip; the following was the most serious one.

When we returned from the cruise an hour later, a few of us found that several of our shoppiong bags had gone missing from the coach! The tour leader said that he was at the coach and did not notice anything. A tour participant, however told us that he spotted the tour leader vomitting at the side of the coach, believed to be after drinking while waiting for the group to return from the cruise and the front door of the coach was opened at that time!

Tons of excuses from Chan Brothers with the classic 'you left the bags on the coach at your own risks', and 'our tour leader has informed you not to leave the bags unattended', etc. Fact is that no such reminder was made and the coach was loaded with bags, all on the seats during the incident. The strange thing that many of us asked was why was an optional evening tour organised at the end of a day of heavy shopping?

After several months of follw up with Chan Brothers, they finally agreed to give a $150 'discount' to each of the participants with lost items; the amount was no where close to the value of the items lost. We indicated to Chan Brothers that this amount was unacceptable as a compensation. Chan Brothers refused to answer any subsequent emails on the matter.

Have any one encountered similar incidents with Chan Brothers and managed to receive a satisfcatory compensattion or resolution? Thanks!

There were many more less severe incidents duirng the 15 day trip, will share more later.

I'm terribly sorry to hear of your troubles. It certainly leaves a horrible impression of your holidays.

Have you contacted your local consumer authorities?

Also, you may wish to post this on your local Singapore forums, as they are local based operators there. You may receive futher feedback by doing so.

A crisp pork knuckle pairs perfectly with an ice-cold beer — and where better to get your fix of malt beers than in the city of Bamberg in Franconia? Sip on (or gulp, if you wish) Bamberg’s famous smoked beer — malted barley is dried over an open flame to achieve its dark hue and distinctive smoky flavour.

Carb lovers will also appreciate munching on maultaschen , or German ravioli. Originally found in the region of Swabia, the hearty dish is accentuated with various herbs and spices for an explosion of flavours with every bite.

Best for:  Affordable community-oriented trips

As many of us know, the whole novelty and beauty of travel stem mostly from the company you go with. Tours organised by your neighbourhood community centres know this all too well, focusing on the communal aspect of travel.

Expect tours to include a multitude of social events intended to strengthen existing ties while creating new ones. You can never have too many friends!

While there aren’t any trips listed on its website at the moment, always keep a lookout for the next “social-cation” around your estate or at your nearby community centres.

Best for:  Celebrity tours and personalised holiday trips

A recognised name in the travel industry, Chan Brothers has long been known for its extensive network of vacation spots as well as refined travel itineraries. Travel everywhere and anywhere with Chan Brothers, as they have tour packages that cover a multitude of continents and states. Its recent addition brings you to the  Lofoten Islands  where you’ll chase down the elusive Northern Lights with a professional photographer to immortalise the moment. Chan Brothers has also built itself a reputation for its celebrity-led tours, having collaborated with radio DJs and Mediacorp stars like the acclaimed host Guo Liang.

Best for:  Ease of personalised booking on their website and mobile app

Dynasty Travel is probably one of your best bets if you’re looking for an intimate vacation with your loved ones. Best for : Celebrity tours and cruises

While New Shan Travel’s variety may leave us wanting more, you cannot fault them for the dedication and passion they have put into their existing packages. We strongly recommend its 7-day tour to UAE with legendary getai singer and host Lee Pei Fan as she accentuates UAE’s magical ambience with her convivial personality.

For $2,388, you’ll get to visit a multitude of places designed to showcase only the best that  UAE has to offer . A desert safari tour, a stroll down Dubai’s Bluewaters Island, a round of thrilling rides at Dubai’s theme park and much more, this tour is packed with a flurry of action and a whole load of charm.

Best for:  European tours

SA Travel has arguably the most diverse and comprehensive continental tours to offer, with over seven luxurious tours catered to just Europe alone. Take a stroll alongside the rustic countryside in Switzerland, drift through a flurry of snow on a snowmobile sledge in Finland or indulge in the splendour of a German gothic castle, SA Travel has everything you’ll need to fuel any desires for a meaningful and authentic vacation.

If you’re looking to explore what the entire continent has to offer, do consider its  Treasure of Europe tour . For $3,789++, you’ll get to visit Paris, Frankfurt, Cologne, Amsterdam and more!

Interestingly, they also offer a rare private trip to Bhutan, informally known as the happiest country in Asia and a cultural gem.

Best for:  South East Asia tours

While the destination options by WTS Travel aren’t as varied as some of the other agencies on this list, WTS Travel does possess a niche speciality in South East Asian travel that is unrivalled.

With beloved vacation spots like Batam, Bintan, Thailand and Malaysia, these family-friendly packages are perfect if you’re looking for a quick fix for your wanderlust.

Opt for their  Resorts World Genting tours , which include a hotel stay at one of its deluxe hotels with a free-and-easy itinerary to do whatever and whenever. Similarly, its Batam and Kepri Coral Island tours provide comprehensive insights into the resort island, including visits to a Kueh Lapis factory, an exclusive showcase of the Pondok Wisata cultural dance and even an opportunity to feed sharks.

Best for:  Luxury tours to exotic destinations

ASA Holidays has long established itself as a pioneer in luxury travel, with an extensive travel experience that has spanned for decades. Describing itself to be “good old wine in a new bottle”, this agency constantly reinvents its packages to fit contemporary travel desires, while retaining an invaluable sense of professionalism that can only be attained through accomplished expertise.

The travel possibilities here are seemingly endless, with both curated and free-and-easy tours for you to choose from. Meander the aqueducts in a romantic gondola in Venice, wander the fashionable streets of Milan or witness the glory of France from the peak of the charming Eiffel Tower, the tours by ASA Holidays are designed to be both sensational and unforgettable.

Travellers looking for more exotic locations are in for a treat as well, as ASA Holidays is but one of the few travel connoisseurs that have destinations like Siberia and Iran.

Pricing wise, you should expect to pay a premium price for the quality of its group packages. A  14-day trip around Italy, Switzerland and France  starts from $3,088 (not including tax) and a  12-day trip to England and Scotland  can go as high as $4,788 (not including tax).

If you’re looking for a personalised itinerary, they also have free-and-easy tours that are as affordable as $138.

Chan Brothers to take legal action for live-streamed statements about private Europe tour

chan brother turkey tour review

SINGAPORE – Chan Brothers Travel, one of Singapore’s biggest tour agencies, on Monday said it would take legal action against “public figures” for statements made on Facebook.

Chan Brothers did not name the individuals, but netizens on public forums made the connection to getai performer and digital content creator Wang Lei and his entourage, who recently conducted a live stream making complaints and allegations against a travel agency.

In its statement, the agency said it had received feedback on a private Europe tour it organised for “some public figures”.

“We actively sought to address their concerns and invited them to meet in person upon their return to Singapore, so that we could deal with matters in the aftermath directly and thoroughly,” said Chan Brothers.

These parties, however, took to “multiple Facebook live streams” to make statements about the trip, the agency added.

Wang, who has 1.4 million followers on Facebook, had gone live on the social media platform on July 16 at 8.29pm, with an accompanying caption in Chinese that said he would be talking about the travel agency behind the tour.

In the almost 30-minute live stream, which was carried out in Hokkien and Mandarin, the 62-year-old, flanked by three women, including getai singer Anderene Choo and comedian Tay Yin Yin, made several allegations against the travel agency, but did not name it.

Later, two men also joined the live stream, which had more than 280,000 views as at Wednesday evening.

A subsequent Facebook post the following day indicated that he had been on a 16-day tour around Europe and had travelled to Italy, Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria.

Chan Brothers said it had made “careful consideration” and sought legal advice before deciding to move forward with action.

“As we must be accountable to our stakeholders and customers, our firm response is crucial for a fair resolution and to set an example for responsible digital conversations,” it added.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, a representative of Chan Brothers Travel said the agency has already commenced legal action, but was advised not to disclose specific details about the case so as not to interfere with the legal process.

“On the one hand, we appreciate the importance of being able to express our thoughts freely on the Internet,” said the representative. “After all, we depend on open dialogue and feedback to constantly improve our services.”

“But on the other hand, we felt a strong need to protect the brand we have worked hard to build, from false and unfair allegations by anyone, which can tarnish our reputation and mislead the public,” he added.
