I had one of the best times on this all day near 12 hour trip with PR Tours! Our tour guide was Cruz. Overall he was very nice and helpful during the tour. We chose to do the El Yunque/BioBay combo tour. First you're picked up directly from the hotel around 9:30 am. They come straight to the lobby. You will be in a rather small shuttle and depending on how large your group is it may get cramped and stuffy in the shuttle vehicle. Lucky for me we had a great group that was a lot of fun. We really bonded in such a short period of time. First stop is El Yunque national rainforest. On the drive to the rainforest you watch a film that previews some of what you will be seeing in person and gives some historical info. Cruz brought us up to the very highest part of the rainforest so that we could hike mostly downward which is a hell of a lot easier and less strenuous. I recommend water shoes for the hike. You will stop at a waterfall and get a chance to swim around which was definitely the highlight of the day! After you leave El Yunque you stop at a strip mall of authentic Puerto Rican food stands. You eat (own expense) for about an hour and then go to a really nice beach for another hour and a half. After that you will be driven to the marina where you will start your kayaking. At this point the BioBay is run by a separate company. So I can't really include them in this review. All I will say is that the BioBay is not what you think it is if you have ever googled pictures of it. That's definitely not what you will be seeing on this tour. After you return from kayaking your original tour guide drops you back off at your hotel. All in all it's an exhaustive 12 hour day but it is an amazing experience and well worth the money!

I literally just returned from this tour with Erik as our tour guide. Me and the wife couldn't be happier with our choice. Not only was it cheaper than what other tours offer, but Erik was very informative and was full of energy. He goes out of his way to snap group pictures like we were a family. Honestly, yes he is strict on time, but that's because there's a schedule he needs to follow because other groups have to be accommodated for the biobay tour. Anyways, I wouldn't hesitate to book another trip with Erik and PR fun tours. -TJ

We went on a rainforest bio bay combo tour yesterday. This was a tremendous experience. Our guide Erik was knowledgeable and friendly. Swimming in a waterfall is great but that water is COLD! Be sure to bring some water shoes. Tip: request the combo tour! It's an all day experience that gives you a little of everything. Morning in the rainforest, hiking and swimming in a waterfall. Afternoon sitting on a beach. Evening kayaking under the stars in a bio bay.

In short, this is the most amazing experience I have ever had in my life. If you do NOTHING else while in Puerto Rico, you HAVE to do the Bio Bay tour. We hopped in the kayaks right before sunset and were paddling through the mangroves as the sun was going down. Since I was on this trip solo, one of the guides offered to do all of the paddling and told me to just relax and enjoy. No complaints here! The warm and salty air, the swishing of the paddles through the water... it was incredibly relaxing. We (he) paddled until we reached a lagoon at the end of the mangroves. It was pitch dark by this time. There was no moon, but more stars than I've even seen. Some of the group members even saw a shooting star pass by overhead. As we stilled our kayaks and gathered them closely into a group, these little tiny shrimp started jumping into our kayaks. As we put them back in the water, it started to glow each time we touched it. My guide told me to cup some of the water in my hands and blow on it. It started to sparkle and shimmer as if there was glitter in it. Then he told me to take some and pour it on my arm; again it sparkled and shimmered like a heavenly glitter as it ran down. As we all dragged our hands and paddles through the water, streaks of beautiful electric blue illuminated the path they followed. The trip back was almost a surreal experience as our kayaks and paddles carved a bright blue path through the dark mangroves. It was a simply magical experience.

I arranged the El Yunque rainforest tour in PR for our trip last September. The yelp reviews about Eric were so amazing that I HAD to book him too! The reviews didn't lie!!! The tour was amazing because Eric made it that way. Sharing stories and telling us about the history of Puerto Rico. The trees the plant names the fruits the flowers.. There was not a question Eric couldn't answer and as we climbed, walked, and swam he was with us the whole time taking photos, holding bags... Just going above and beyond what a general tour guide does.

The rainforest is beautiful, the beach was refreshing, and the bio bay was a lot of fun. I will separately review the bio bay kayaking tour since that was run by a separate company. What you pay for on a tour versus hiring a driver is a positive experience with excellent customer service and a fun tour guide. For that I would give this tour 1 star. Our tour guide Eric was inexcusably rude and condescending to me. He suggested we get breakfast in Plaza Colon which my group did. We didn't know that it would take more than 35 minutes to order sandwiches to go at the cafe there - this would have been good info for Eric to give us if the 9am start time was so strict. Eric berated me (and only me, not the whole group) before 9am for our group not being ready to go. Yes, we weren't ready at 9am, but that does not excuse how Eric talked to me or my group. We felt treated like children and not like customers. He told me the reason for his outburst was that we were picking up another group - I talked to them and they were expecting to be picked up later and didn't feel inconvenienced at all. He was condescending the rest of the trip, especially to the women. He kept commenting on the race of people on the tour. Eric misstated some of the facts he told us, and when people corrected him, he ignored them. My group would have preferred if the hike was a little longer or more challenging but for a combo tour it was a good sample of El Yunque. The restaurant we stopped at had very limited choices, especially for vegetarians / vegans or people that don't want to eat deep fried food. It was more of a street food vendor than a restaurant. I would recommend going to see El Yunque, Luquillo beach, and the bio bay - but not with this company! I am only giving this tour 2 stars because they were able to accommodate my large group with short notice after our other plans fell through. Edit: What lovely customer service from the owner that continues to berate clients. Why would you want to risk being treated so poorly when there are many other tour companies available?

Thank you very much for your review and it's true the Rainforest, beaches and the Biobay are very amazing places to visit here in Puerto Rico and we visit all of these activities in one day. Here are some tips of what not to do when you book a tour on a group tour : First off when your pick up time is set for 9am you need to be where your pick up location is set, not inside a restaurant ordering food because you are not responsible enough to get up early and have breakfast and be ready for your pick up not when I call you and ask where are you you say we are here waiting for you which you where not then make excuses as to why your late and why we have to wait for you to finish eating then a 1/2 hr late then arrive to your pick up location and give more excuses and then say (Well I thought this is a private tour and yell at me for this I said you owe myself and our other guests an apology for making everyone else's pick ups late as well and no the other guests where not happy with you either and because you booked everyone under your name and you are the only contact and your in charge of making sure you and your friends are where they are supposed to be at the time given basically when you act like children you will be treated as children and there was no out burst you obviously can't follow instructions or you do not care about anyone else other than yourselves. It's amazing to me how you talk about what your friends would have preferred a more challenging hike or a vegan restaurant ? You had breakfast a non vegan restaurant during your pick up but that wasn't important to you at that time but very important later in the day and where we do stop for lunch has many vegetarian options including rice and beans and it's not street vendor food it's a real restaurant. As for misinformation it seems to be you are very misinformed because my degrees are in history and tourism and I don't give misinformation so when your corrected when we are discussing FACTS about Puerto Rico and it's history and explaining the different types of people and there native roots perhaps listing to your Tourguide instead of trying to talk over him might be a better option you might learn something new but that was not going to happen because you came with your own agenda and not willing to be on a tour with other people which brings me to my last point, I wonder why your other tour was canceled and that's why you booked with me ? It's seems you have a few more problems other than you can't find a vegetarian dish !!!!!

Speaking as a hotel concierge on the island, I can assure you that PR Tours is the most responsible, knowledgable and client-centered tour company I have ever worked with. The independent owner/tour guide's name is Erik, and no matter what I can always count on him to give the hotel guests the type of excursion they are looking for. Professionally, Erik is reliable and always communicative with important details such as pricing, pick-up time, things to bring and appropriate dress. A huge FYI to visiting tourists, many tour guides are NOT certified! If you have the opportunity of meeting Erik by booking a tour, you will see his certifications on his official badge. This is very important to how your experience will play out while on a tour. A knowledgable guide is better than one wasted money on. You can contact him through either phone, text or email and are guaranteed a response in no more than 30 minutes tops. Wow! What a breath of fresh air in comparison to other companies I have tried calling 10+ times in the past while trying to book a guest! An extra invisible 6th star for his nifty, live online booking featured on his website. By far, the easiest and most efficient way of booking on the island. If you already know which tour you are interested in booking (such as the Bio Bay. Who doesn't already have the expectation of visiting the bay?), then that is your immediate opportunity to get set up. Since I'm using the Bio Bay as a reference, I will also note that this excursion is almost (..almost!) impossible to book without a 2 week in advance reservation. However, Erik always has 14 spots pre-reserved and available EVERY NIGHT for the bio bay. People, if you are debating between companies, look no further. You have found a goldmine! Enjoy! And other concierge, meet your dream-come-true, hassle-free, easy-to-book tour company. At last!

Had THE BEST experience EVER doing the El Yunque Rainforest Tour. Our tour guide Eric was beyond amazing- he is SO passionate and knowledgeable and FUN! We had no idea what to expect...and to wake up at 7 am after partying on vacation to hike all day---I was like---ummmm I don't know if I can do this. I almost stayed home. I was still half asleep when I got into the van and then it was just instant laughs and fun. The good vibes continued all day. There were 5 girls in my group, another couple (C&C) and a group of 3 other girls. Everyone got along great! Another guy joined our group and we loved him too. Eric started the tour with a background history of El Yunque. I am usually not a tour person- I like to do my own thing and if I'm on a tour- I'm like: let's get to the exciting part already....I don't like to sit and listen...BUT Eric was SO entertaining and informative I found myself hanging on to every word. And then when it was time to do the actual hike- he explained as we went along, took some great behind the scenes pics and when we got to the waterfall- was very helpful in taking pics as well. We made it to the end and stopped a great authentic spot for what was my fave food the whole trip....and pina coladas. This was the best part of my vacation and I just want to thank Eric for making it so special for us!

Terrible experience. Total waste of money. I booked the rain forest + kayak bio bay tour. You figured that paying $150 + taxes (comes up to almost $180 you would have something decent. No. The tour guide Jose picked us up around 9am. The weather was bad. cloudy and rainy and they didn't cancel the tour. They won't cancel it for anything because they obviously just care about the money. With rain was impossible to see any birds or any animals in the forest. we couldn't bathe in the waterfall because of the rain too. The path was muddy and very slippery. So we just walked around while Jose spoke about many types of bamboo and showed pictures on this phone on how good this tour was a day before when you could actually have enjoyed something. It was raining buckets! We weren't offered even a single cup of water from 9am to 230pm! At 230pm we stopped to eat in a place were there was just one " restaurant". So we didn't have much of a choice. The food was ok though. while we ate the van was broken into and some of the tour guide's belongings were stolen. We went to a little beach nearby while Jose went to the police station. After that we went to the bio bay. The surroundings smelled bad. The kayak tour started very well with a beautiful scenery but the main attraction was such a disappointment. In the ad picture the person is paddling and you see the glowing of the plankton. When we got there they made us line up side by side in our kayaks and put a cover on top of us. The tarp was wet and stinky. We had to squeeze our arms in between the kayaks and hit the water to see the glowing though the glass bottom of the kayak. We did that for about 10 min and left. It was high tide and we had to go against the current which for inexperienced people was very challenging and dangerous. When we came back to land around 930pm they provided some chips and water (finally after 12 hrs). All guides were very polite. But it doesn't change the fact that the tour is really bad. To me everything was a huge false ad. I lost one precious day of vacation and lots of money that I could've done something way better. Actually anything would have been better than that. **don't go**

"News Flash" You booked a Rainforest tour I'm not exactly sure what you had in mind but we delivered. Yes when Booking for our amazing El Yunque National Forest Tour its the wettest rainforest in the World and yes that means RAIN !!! And lots of it over 200 inches a year and yes we do hike down to the waterfall Note I said walk down this is because the trail is 2 miles long to the waterfall we are following the river once arriving at the waterfall for swimming and relaxation as your guide will hike uphill back to get the van as you our guests continue to follow the path through the forest to the other parking that is down the mountain from where we started this way it is much easer for you our guest and of course we provide on our vans bottle water and fresh fruit and yes we to explain about all the animals and the history of the forest. And yes we were victims of a van break in and Jose who had all his things stolen gave chase and was able to get our guests property safe and of course you can imagine how bad he felt yet we was still able to fulfill his duties and make our tour time for the amazing Biobay tour of course we are the only ones on Glass Bottom Kayaks here is the secret look down inside your kayak and there it is !!! And yes we use a giant tarp to cover all the kayakers this is how we bock out light pollution. As your tourguide and driver all of which I'm very proud of Jose and proud to have him as a employee of my company And the other 9 people on the tour with you had a great time that because they came to have fun ....... Erik Proud owner !!!

On our last trip I tried to plan a lot while I was in TX but a lot of websites were very vague and other sites, once you called no one picked up. So it was hard to get reservations planned out in advance. Thus we had to visit our concierge the very first day. He was a lot of help but all of his contacts for booking tours were all sold out for the time we would be in Puerto Rico. That is where Yelp on the fly came into play. I was still really wanting to visit the bio-luminescent bay, and our concierge suggested just driving down there and hoping to coordinate with a company. I did not want to take that risk. Lucky for me I was able to find PR Tours with Erik. Erik is very responsive via phone calls and text messages. He was able to confirm everything and put my mind at ease. Even though we had rented a car his tour was all inclusive with transportation. At first we were a bit sad, but by the time he drove down there we were glad we did not drive. It was late and we would have been very tired. My only complaint was the kayak tour itself. On this particular night they were short staffed? So Erik stayed on shore to watch our belongings. The person he teamed up with was very informative, but did not allow for us to play in the bay very much. It's like you gotta fight all the way out to the bay, then you sit in a circle for awhile where the guy tells you about the stars and science. It was interesting, but I just wanted to see the glowing! Overall, Erik was the most responsive tour person I was able to contact while in PR.
