PCB confirms Pakistan men's team FTP between 2023 and 2027

Player workload management, meaningful and exciting bilateral cricket, and preparations for the ICC global events were the cornerstones of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s strategy and philosophy while preparing the men’s Future Tours Programme 2023-2027, which was confirmed and unveiled today.

The PCB has scheduled around 238 days of international cricket during the four-year period comprising 27 ICC World Test Championship fixtures (13 home and 14 away), 47 One-Day Internationals (26 home and 21 home) and 56 Twenty20 Internationals (27 home and 29 away).

📢 Pakistan to host 10 Test playing nations for bilateral red and white-ball cricket between 2023 and 2027 📢 A breakdown of Pakistan Men's fixtures in ICC's latest Future Tours Programme 🏏 More details: https://t.co/bDfJty5AcR pic.twitter.com/GjxPeFfVX2 — Pakistan Cricket (@TheRealPCB) August 17, 2022

These include matches in the ACC 50-over Asia Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will stage in 2023 and 2025, respectively. The number of matches may increase depending on where Pakistan finishes in the ICC and ACC events between 2023 and 2027, as well as in the 2025 and 2026 three-nation ODI series.

The Future Tours Programme is prepared collectively by the ICC Member Boards. As such, the PCB will continue to work with its fellow Members and may include more matches and/or series, depending on the player availability and window for international cricket in the calendar.

In the ICC World Test Championship 2023-2025, Pakistan will play Tests against Australia (away), Bangladesh (home), England (home), South Africa (away), Sri Lanka (away) and West Indies (home), while their matches in the 2025-2027 championship are against Bangladesh (away), England (away), New Zealand (home), South Africa (home), Sri Lanka (home) and West Indies (away).

The three-nation ODI series has returned to Pakistan’s calendar for the first time since 2004-05. New Zealand and South Africa will join Pakistan in the tri-series in 2025, which will take place in the build-up to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, while England and Sri Lanka will participate in the series in October/November 2026.

The PCB has scheduled white-ball matches with one eye on the ICC global events.

While Pakistan will host the Asia Cup 2023 and triangular series in February 2025 in the lead up to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, respectively, it will play 11 T20Is against the Netherlands, Ireland and England in the build up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be jointly hosted by the United States and the West Indies.

Likewise, ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, Pakistan will play Australia in three home T20Is.

Apart from Australia, three other sides - Afghanistan, Ireland and Zimbabwe - will also play white-ball matches in Pakistan between 2023 and 2027.

Pakistan’s FTP 2023-2027 reflects that it will play hosts to 10 out of 12 ICC Full Member nations for the first time in more than two decades.

PCB Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain : “While finalising our Future Tours Programme 2023-2027 in a tight and densely-packed cricket calendar, we have given priority to context, quality and player workload.  We have also tried to find an appropriate balance across all the three formats so that these continue to co-exist meaningfully.

“I am sure that our cricket fans will be delighted to know that top-ranked and attractive sides such as Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies will visit Pakistan to compete in matches for the ICC World Test Championship. Additionally, Afghanistan, Australia, Ireland and Zimbabwe will also tour Pakistan for the white-ball matches, which means 10 of the 12 ICC Full Members will play cricket in Pakistan during the four-year period.  This is exciting!

“We are also mindful that our sides must be provided with the best preparation opportunities so that they perform strongly in ICC competitions. Accordingly, this has also been an integral part of our strategy around scheduling, as we have scheduled appropriate international matches in the lead up to the ICC events.

“Furthermore, and in line with our vision for triangular ODI series to contribute in increasing excitement and attracting greater audiences, we have so far scheduled two tri-series in February 2025 and October/November 2026, involving New Zealand and South Africa, and England and Sri Lanka, respectively. This is also something for the fans to look forward to.

“The certainty and clarity around our home bilateral fixtures until 2027 provides us the platform to put together a robust commercial programme, so that we can optimise the exploitation of our commercial rights. This will enable us to hopefully increase our revenues and channel these back into the further development of our cricket, all across from our grassroots talent hunt to our international playing facilities.”

Remember, Cricket Pakistan had posted last month about the next two FTP cycles citing the possibility of change going forward.

PCB Reveals Master Plan For World Cup 2024 With Revised Future Tours Programme For Pakistan

image-lk8c4ruu

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed the updated Future Tours Programme (FTP) for 2023-2025, including the addition of 10 extra T20Is against New Zealand. This decision aims to provide optimal preparation for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2024.

In consultation with Cricket West Indies (CWI) and New Zealand Cricket (NZC), slight modifications have been made to the FTP schedule.

Consequently, the two ICC World Test Championship (WTC) matches against the West Indies, initially planned for February 2024 in Pakistan, will now occur in January 2025. Similarly, Pakistan's tour to New Zealand, originally scheduled for January 2025, has been rescheduled to April 2025.

PCB Embraces New ICC Financial Model, Set to Double Its Revenue

Following their participation in three ICC World Test Championship matches in Australia from December 14 to January 7, Pakistan will travel to New Zealand for a five-match T20I series, acting as a catalyst for their T20 World Cup preparations.

These matches are set to take place from January 12 to 21. In return, New Zealand will visit Pakistan in April 2024 for five T20Is to fill the vacant window. Further details regarding the series will be disclosed closer to the time.

As a result of these additional fixtures, Pakistan will engage in a total of 19 T20Is in the build-up to the T20 World Cup, including matches against New Zealand, the Netherlands, Ireland, and England. Moreover, the PCB will organize its own intense HBL Pakistan Super League in February and March 2024.

The revised FTP for Pakistan's men's cricket team in the period of 2023-2025 features a comprehensive schedule. Notably, all Tests played during this period will contribute towards the World Test Championship.

The 2023-24 season encompasses tours to Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Australia, along with the ODI Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup in India.

For the 2024-25 season, series against Bangladesh, England, Australia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand, and Bangladesh are scheduled, including the T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies, the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, and various bilateral series.

Gulfishaa Avaan

As part of the men’s Future Tours Programme, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Wednesday the ten Test-playing nations that will come to Pakistan between 2023 and 2027. The PCB has scheduled 27 ICC World Test Championship matches (13 at home and 14 on the road), 47 one-day internationals (26 at home and 21 on the road), and 56 Twenty20 Internationals. About 238 days of international cricket will be played over the next four years (27 home and 29 away). Read out the complete details about PCB men’s Future  Tours  2023-2027.

PCB  men’s Future  Tours  2023-2027

The Future Tours Programme is made by people who are part of the International Cricket Council working together. So, the PCB will continue to work with its other Members, and more matches and series may be added if there is a good time for international cricket and enough players who want to play. In the ICC World Test Championship from 2023 to 2025, Pakistan will play Australia (away), Bangladesh (home), England (home), South Africa (out), Sri Lanka (out), and West Indies (home). From 2025 to 2027, they will play Bangladesh (away), England (home), New Zealand (home), South Africa (home), and Sri Lanka (home) (out). Pakistan will host all three countries in a One-Day International series for the first time since 2004-05.

In 2025, Pakistan will host a tri-series with New Zealand and South Africa before the ICC Champions Trophy. In 2026, England and Sri Lanka will join in for a similar series in October and November. The PCB has planned its white-ball tournaments around the international games held by the ICC. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be held in the United States and the West Indies in 2024.

Pakistan will host the Asia Cup in 2023 and a triangular series in February 2025 to prepare for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. In the same way, Pakistan will host three Twenty20 Internationals against Australia before India and Sri Lanka host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Four teams, including Australia, Afghanistan, Ireland, and Zimbabwe, will play white-ball matches in Pakistan between 2023 and 2027. Pakistan’s FTP 2023-2027 shows that it will host ten of the twelve ICC Full Member nations for the first time in more than 20 years.

PCB Releases Pakistan’s FTP 2023-25 Schedule

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released the future tour program (FTP) for Pakistan’s men’s cricket team for the season 2023-2025 on its social media handles. Pakistan is currently playing Sri Lanka away in a two-match test series that’s part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25. Pakistan’s FTP 2023-25 has 38 T20Is scheduled in it.

Asia Cup & World Cup Year

Pakistan has two major tournaments lined up this year with ACC Asia Cup 2023 scheduled to take place in both Pakistan & Sri Lanka in a hybrid model & then the ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled in India. Although Pakistan were the official host to stage this year’s Asia Cup but BCCI’s reluctance to send their team to Pakistan meant that the event followed a hybrid model.

It’s yet to be seen if the Government of Pakistan decides whether to send the men’s cricket team to India or not for the World Cup. A committee has been made to make the decision. ICC released the fixtures of the World Cup recently with Pakistan stipulated to kick off their campaign against Netherlands in Hyderabad on 6th October & the high-octane clash against the hosts India in Ahmedabad on 15th October.

After the World Cup in India, Pakistan will be travelling to Australia for a highly anticipated three-match Test series beginning in December. All the onus will be on Naseem & Shaheen to perform in the Aussies’ conditions.

PCB added an additional 10 T20Is against New Zealand as a strategic buildup plan for ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to give the best possible preparation to the players.

Following three ICC World Test Championship matches in Australia from 14 December to 7 January, Pakistan will travel to New Zealand for five T20Is, which will kick-start their T20 World Cup preparations. These matches will be held from 12-21 January. The schedule is:

  • 12 Jan – 1st T20I, Auckland
  • 14 Jan – 2nd T20I, Hamilton
  • 17 Jan – 3rd T20I, Dunedin
  • 19 Jan – 4th T20I, Christchurch
  • 21 Jan – 5th T20I, Christchurch

In turn, New Zealand will make a return visit to Pakistan in April 2024 for five T20Is to fill the vacant window. To schedule the additional T20Is, the PCB, in consultation with Cricket West Indies and New Zealand Cricket, has made slight changes to its Future Tours Programme 2023-2025.

The two ICC World Test Championship fixtures against the West Indies, originally planned in Pakistan in February 2024, will now be held in January 2025. Likewise, Pakistan’s tour to New Zealand for three ODIs and five T20Is, originally scheduled in January 2025, will now take place in April 2025.

No ODI for Almost a Year

Pakistan’s FTP 2023-25 raised a lot of concern among several prominent journalists who asked the PCB for the lack of ODI’s in the schedule. Pakistan team will not be playing any bilateral ODI cricket from the series against Afghanistan from August 2023 (subject to confirmation) to November 2024. That’s more than 12 months & is un-just for players in their prime like Imam ul Haq, Fakhar Zaman & Babar Azam.

I still don’t understand the logic behind playing 38 T20Is in the course of two years. Understandably, you want to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 but the next bilateral series is scheduled in November 2024, which completely baffles me. Especially considering you are hosting ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Feb-March 2025.

ODI’s Scheduled before ICC Champions Trophy 2025 = 09 + Tri-Series with NZ/SA

T20I’s Scheduled before ICC T20 World Cup 2024 = 19

Just had a look at Pakistan’s revised men’s FTP. After the World Cup 2023, Pakistan won’t play ODI cricket for a year! 😮 — Mazher Arshad (@MazherArshad) July 18, 2023
If the Afghanistan series isn't scheduled, Pakistan will not play any bilateral ODI series till November 2024. Pakistan's next ODI series will be against Australia after 18 months, followed by series against Zimbabwe and South Africa. Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).

At michigan state university, george perkovich gives lecture on nuclear policy at frib laboratory.

George Perkovich, the Ken Olivier and Angela Nomellini Chair and vice president for studies at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace , gave a lecture on 20 March at the FRIB Laboratory. Perkovich’s lecture is part of MSU’s Distinguished Nuclear Policy Lecture series. As part of his visit, Sean Liddick, associate professor of chemistry at FRIB and in MSU’s Department of Chemistry, and FRIB associate director for experimental science, hosted Perkovich on a tour of the facility and discussed FRIB’s history, progress, science, and technology along the way.

The “Does Nuclear Arms Control with Russia and China Have a Future?” abstract states: “Nuclear arms control for the foreseeable future will be hindered by polarized politics that impact compromise with foreign adversaries and internal opponents, and by the emergence of new technologies and multi-party rather than bilateral strategic contests. This presentation will explore how these processes confound military planners, political leaders, and diplomatic negotiators in each country who would have to figure out what sorts of arms control bargains are desirable and acceptable. History suggests ways to overcome these obstacles, but the pathways to be navigated today are more challenging.”

Perkovich, who oversees Carnegie’s Technology and International Affairs Program and Nuclear Policy Program, works primarily on nuclear strategy and nonproliferation issues, cyberconflict, and new approaches to international public-private management of strategic technologies. He is the author of the prize-winning book, India’s Nuclear Bomb (University of California Press, 1999), and co-author of, Not War, Not Peace? Motivating Pakistan to Prevent Cross-Border Terrorism (Oxford University Press, 2016).

Perkovich’s short-form writing has appeared in leading international journals and newspapers. He has advised many agencies of the U.S. government, and testified before both houses of Congress. He has been a member of the National Academy of Science’s Committee on Arms Control and International Security, the Council on Foreign Relations Task Force on Nuclear Policy, and was a principal adviser to the International Commission on Nuclear Nonproliferation and Disarmament, a joint initiative of the governments of Japan and Australia. He served as a speechwriter and foreign policy adviser to Senator Joe Biden (D-Del.) from 1989-90.

The Distinguished Nuclear Policy Lecture series is a partnership between  Michigan State University’s James Madison College and FRIB that brings global policy experts to campus for talks about the political and scientific communities. This lecture series brings together experts and scholars from diverse backgrounds to discuss issues related to nuclear policy, arms control, and non-proliferation. The lectures provide insights, analysis, and perspectives on the current challenges and opportunities in the evolving field of nuclear policy.
