Your Luxury Safaris Expert
As featured in:.
Welcome to Tailormade Africa. Your luxury Africa safaris expert. We are an independent owner run company specialising in luxury safaris and trips to this unique and wonderful continent.
Clyde and Rob are two of the most knowledgeable and passionate experts of African safari with over 40 years combined experience. You will be working exclusively with the owners of Tailormade Africa from start to finish - pre, during and post travel. Our approach is simple, to be ethical and to benefit you (the guest), the hosts, local communities and the environment.
We would love to chat with you about your safari and travel dreams. Don't be shy, email us at [email protected] or call Clyde on +44 7809 726266 or Rob on +44 7791 360170 .
At Tailormade Africa we pride ourselves on being the leaders in customer service. We are also the luxury safari experts and our safari consultants have lived, worked and still travel extensively throughout Africa, bringing you the best of each safari destination.
There are so many African safari options it can often be overwhelming, whether you're travelling to Africa as a first-time safari goer or a seasoned safari enthusiast. If you're looking at honeymoon safaris, family safaris or luxury safaris holidays the best thing to do to avoid being overwhelmed is to call us now for an initial obligation-free chat to get to know you.
African Luxury Safaris FAQs
In our opinion, one of the highlights of a luxury African safari is the professional service you will come to expect. Your rangers and guides will be highly trained individuals with plenty of experience working in the bush. This means that you’ll learn that much more and be sure to enjoy seeing the world around you through highly skilled eyes.
There should be an element of remoteness which allows for lower annual visitors. This then leads to a greater quality game viewing experience. We also believe you should be able to reach your travel provider 24/7 as it the case with Tailormade Africa.
Planning is key for a successful luxury safari, but this can also be quite tricky as there are so many choices. Where would you even begin and how much time do you have to invest in this step? It is for this reason we encourage everyone to get in touch with us. We can help you save a bunch of time. This will also give you a chance to see what sets us apart, it starts with how we plan everything.
After the initial planning has taken place, we will work on your perfect itinerary. We will keep working on this until you are 100% happy with it. Then it is over to making sure you have all the essentials for your trip.
This will depend on what you have in mind. Most clients have a rough idea of what they are willing to spend. We will then help guide this process. Something to always keep in mind is the amount you will need to add in terms of flights, tips and gifts (but we will also guide you with this).
If we had to put a number to it, a rough estimate would be around $5,000 per person and could exceed $13,000. A factor that greatly influences this is the the number of days you will be on safari.
There are quite a few options in our opinion. It all boils down to the traveller's personality and ideas in terms of a safari. Big 5, gorillas, a cultural experience, desert or some sea? Maybe even a combination of a few or all of these?
- Popular, but at times could be a little crowded to our liking: the Serengeti and Ngorongoro in Tanzania, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, Masai Mara in Kenya, Cape Town, the Winelands and Private Reserves in South Africa.
- For sheer remoteness and wildlife numbers: Selous Game Reserve, Katavi & Ruaha in Tanzania all of which combine well with a trip to Zanzibar, Amboseli National Park & Lewa in Kenya, most of the parks in Botswana, Mana Pools & Gonarezhou National Parks in Zimbabwe
- For something a bit different and even life-changing: Volcanoes National Park & Akagera National Park in Rwanda for a gorilla and Big 5 combo experience, Samuru in Kenya, Etosha in Namibia, Makgadikgadi and the Central Kalahari for a desert safari and wildlife with a difference and finally Madagascar which has some wildlife found nowhere else on the planet.
Africa has a spread of safari countries both north and south of the equator which allows for dry months and great wildlife viewing all year-round. We recommend you visit Tanzania during January and February where the Great Migration is sure to leave you breathless, but do check with us beforehand because the migration is dependent on rainfall, which is different every year.
From March to April we recommend South Africa where you can visit Cape Town, sip on some of the best wines in the winelands and see the Big 5; Ethiopia where you can enjoy the Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and the desert-filled country of Namibia where the wildlife viewing is sure to surprise (and delight) you!
Madagascar and Zimbabwe are great from May to June. In Madagascar there are less tourists this time of year as it is low season, but temperatures are pleasant and landscapes particularly lush. In Zimbabwe, the drier weather draws animals to rivers and watering holes which is quite a sight to behold!
July and August are great for gorilla trekking in Rwanda or catching the Big 5 in the Akagera National Park. The Okavango Delta, Moremi and Chobe in Botswana are also incredible for animal-spotting during these winter months.
From September to October we highly recommend catching the iconic Masai Mara migration in Kenya which attracts a large number of predators including lions. Then, to end off the year, we recommend you visit Uganda over November and December and go gorilla trekking. There are no crowds in Uganda over this period so pricing, including trekking permits, is very competititve.
Our short answer is as long as possible, but rarely less than 14 days including flights. This is of course dependent on budget, how much leave time you have available and where your homebase is situated, as this will take up more or less travel time.
A short trip could be around 5 to 7 nights if it's from central Europe, UK, Middle East or the Indian subcontinent. For those flying from further afield like the US, Canada, South America, Far East, Australia or New Zealand 10 to 13 nights would be great, with 14 to 18 nights being ideal.
5 STARS ALL ROUND!

Choose from fourteen diverse destinations, when it comes to incredible scenery, africa is right up there with the best. boasting vast savannas, stunning beaches, dramatic mountains and amazing wildlife, this continent has it all. africa stirs up emotions in travelers like no place on earth, leaving them yearning to come back., key to destinations, south africa, sierra leone.
South Africa is often referred to as a world in one country and it certainly deserves this title. There are very few places on earth which offer such a diversity of landscapes, cultures, wildlife and activities. Whether it is safaris or cities, beaches or winelands, surfing or skiing that you are looking for, you can find it all here.
Madagascar holidays will leave you spellbound as you wander among giant baobabs and explore landscapes like no other on earth. Madagascar is an abyss of wildlife, birdlife, variant habitats and ecosystems. Madagascar also boasts wildlife found nowhere else on the planet.
Mauritius holidays have so much to offer, and we just love the capital city of Port Louis, which has an amazing local market where you can bring your senses to life through the smells of spices, the sounds of the vendors and the exotic flavours on offer.
The great thing about the Seychelles is that there are so many different islands which have beautiful hotels and resorts on them that there truly is something for everyone… and they will all have a beautiful beach for you to enjoy! Seychelles has a number of outstanding private islands that each have their own resort on them too, and these are ideal for those who want to really feel like they’re getting away.
A Kenya safari has become something of an institution over the years and is where the lavish and luxurious safari was pioneered and perfected. It is no surprise then that when tastes shifted toward the photographic safari in the 1950’s and 1960’s, Kenya was again at the forefront.
Botswana safaris are considered by many to be Africa's finest offering on the continent in terms of raw, unadulterated wilderness and most exhilarating experiences.
Tanzania is quite possibly the quintessential African destination. When it comes to safari, Tanzania really does have it all and it is certainly one of the most popular among our clients. It is the kind of place which experienced safari hands could easily visit four or five times, but it also makes for a fantastic first-time safari.
Whilst gorilla trekking is an absolute highlight at Volcanoes National Park, a safari in Rwanda offers so much more than this, with sightings of the big 5, breathtaking scenery and a fascinating history to discover in various destinations.
Widely regarded for many years prior to 2000 as the ultimate safari destination, Zimbabwe’s tourism recovery over the past 7 or so years has been incredible. The tourism industry as a whole and the countries national parks and wilderness areas remain one of the most well organised and managed in all of Africa and is a testament to the passion and commitment shown by all operators and stakeholders who stuck out the hard times.
Zambia is often referred to as the connoisseur’s safari destination. It is one of few places where you can still experience the Africa of old and much of it has remained pleasantly undeveloped. Due to the very adventurous and immersive nature of safari here, the country is generally suited to more outdoorsy travellers who may have been on a few safaris already.
Congo is one of Africa’s best-kept secrets. Remote in the best possible sense of the word, this is safari in the original sense of the word – a voyage into the unknown. A journey of exploration and discovery that will whet even the most jaded of travel appetites.
Sierra Leone is an undiscovered paradise that has been a dealt a poor hand. Tourism and investments were blossoming after the end of the civil war in 2002 and then, just as it was finding its feet, Ebola struck. However, the World Health Organisation has now declared it officially Ebola-free and Tailormade Africa is spearheading the campaign to develop eco-tourism in the country.
Visitors to Uganda are often surprised and taken aback by the shear natural beauty of Uganda’s diverse landscapes and the genuine friendly welcome from the people. From the mountainous rain-forests in the south, to the northern savannahs, to picture-perfect crater lakes Uganda is truly one of the most geographically remarkable countries in Africa.
Due to its arid nature, Namibia is one of the most sparsely populated countries on earth. The feelings of sheer space and freedom that can be felt here are unlike anything else you may have experienced before. This comes with an understanding that a safari to Namibia is mostly about spectacular desert scenery and wide open landscapes.

FAMILY SAFARI
An Africa family safari makes an unforgettable holiday for the whole family, but especially for children as a child’s innate love of nature and animals comes to the fore and opens their eyes and minds to a very different world.

10 day birding tour, exceeded expectations
The Bespoke African safari is an outstanding operator. Starting from initial communication about itinerary, pricing, to being flexible with dates, to providing a customized experience that fit my needs and communicating all the necessary information. My assigned guide Arshley Brian was an extremely knowledgeable birder and keen naturalist and a very welcoming person, happy to share his knowledge, and I learned quite a bit from his knowledge of birds, mammals, plants, the landscape and Ugandan culture…

Best Trip of my Life
I hired The Bespoke African Safari to guide me through 2 weeks in Rwanda, Uganda and DRC summer of 2021. They were one of the few tour companies willing to take on such an itinerary during the pandemic but accepted the challenge and did an amazing job of making the adjustments needed in real time to complete a life changing trip safe and on schedule. I had two primary guides throughout my two weeks, Brian in Rwanda and Arshley Brian in Uganda. Both were extremely kind and knowledgable and…

Our Readers' Favorite 10 African Safari Tours in 2021
Scott Bay is a magazine editor specializing in travel, architecture, and gear. He was previously an assistant editor at Travel + Leisure . His work has also appeared in Wired , Architectural Digest , Wallpaper , Robb Report , Saveur , Daily Beast , and more.
This year's World's Best Awards survey was open for voting January 11 through May 10, 2021, as destinations around the world were lifting COVID-19 restrictions. Survey rules have always allowed readers to reflect on their travel experiences over a three-year period. We hope that this year's honorees will inspire your own travels as you get back out into the world.
A safari tops most of Travel + Leisure readers' bucket lists — a trip that many spend a lifetime daydreaming about , saving for, and eventually splurging on. On this type of adventure, travelers pull out all of the stops and have high expectations. One of the best ways to have that dream trip live up to expectations is to hire one of the best safari outfitters, as voted by the discerning readers of T+L.
Every year for our World's Best Awards survey , T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Readers rated tour operators and safari outfitters based on their staff and guides, itineraries and destinations, activities, accommodations, food, and overall value.
The safari companies favored by T+L readers owe much of their success to the talented advisors, who get to know their clients so they can create truly customized trips. "We couldn't have worked with a better group of people," one reader said of No. 5 winner Travel Beyond. "They were friendly, efficient, informative, and made sure our entire trip went smoothly. We never had a care."
Each safari outfitter also displays a deep connection to the national world and conservation efforts . Readers felt that No. 10 andBeyond particularly excelled in this area: "They have an excellent commitment to local communities, protecting wildlife and the environment." Another reader said of No. 9 Wilderness Safaris, "Their commitment to local communities and protecting wildlife is outstanding."
Read on to see the full list of T+L readers' picks for the best safari outfitters — all of which not only make spotting the Big Five easy but also arrange unparalleled perks and accommodations.
1. Micato Safaris
This company has been voted onto T+L's list of the world's best safari outfitters every year since the awards' inception — and for good reason. The family-run business has deep roots in Kenya, and its owners' love for the country (and continent) is evident in the way they operate. Each itinerary, whether private or with a group, is tailored to be the most luxurious, comfortable, and exciting adventure possible. Readers couldn't say enough kind words about their recent trips. "Never met tour guides or staff that were so friendly and knowledgeable about the animals and the locations and the culture," wrote one reader. "They seemed to have a sixth sense for anticipating our needs. It was really something." A few more touted Micato's reputation, with one saying, "Simply the best safari outfitter in Africa. Bar none."

Where to go
Botswana is one of the best African safari destinations for adventure travellers. The landlocked country offers endless opportunities to experience wildlife like never before. You can go on a mobile safari expedition and discover the most untouched parts of Botswana as you follow the game. You can also take a helicopter ride and marvel at the beauty of the Okavango Delta from above.
Zimbabwe enthrals with incredible safari experiences. Hwange National Park is one of the best places in the world for viewing large herds of elephant while Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools is a UNESCO-protected national park filled with wildlife, including some of the best predator-spotting opportunities.
Rwanda is among Africa’s most magical destinations – and one of the few places in the world where you can encounter mountain gorillas. These giant primates can be found in Volcanoes National Park. In Akagera National Park you can see lions, leopards, giraffes and more.
One of Africa’s best known safari destinations, Tanzania is filled with a breathtaking array of wildlife across its multiple natural reserves such as Singita Grumeti. The East African country also offers unparalleled wildlife experiences in Serengeti National Park during the Great Migration.
South Africa is home to one of the oldest and most impressive national parks in the world. Kruger National Park is where you can spot the Big Five and many other species of African wildlife. South Africa is also one of the best safari destinations for families and first-timers.
A gateway to Africa, Morocco offers a myriad of unforgettable travel experiences. Set off on adventures of all kinds exploring vibrant medinas in Fes, buzzing bazaars in Marrakesh, breathtaking mountains in the High Atlas and the awe-inspiring desert landscapes of the Sahara.
Namibia is filled with innumerable sights. Its otherworldly landscapes consist of sweeping dunes, dramatic views and unspoiled nature. Home to a rich population of cheetahs, Namibia offers matchless wildlife viewing. It is also a destination that is great to visit all year round.
Kenya is one of the best safari destinations in the world. It is home to the world-renowned Maasai Mara National Park where the Big Five and other animal species roam freely. It’s also where you can see the magnificent Great Migration and its dramatic river crossings.
The diverse African nation of Zambia is home to the powerful Zambezi River and Victoria Falls. Take a helicopter ride above the waterfall or opt for an adventurous dip into the Devil’s Pool. Zambia also offers incredible safari experiences. Kafue National Park, one of the biggest in the world, offers remarkable game viewing opportunities, with big concentrations of predators and other wildlife species.
Uganda is made up of dense forests, pristine landscapes and abundant wildlife. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is where you can get up close to endangered mountain gorillas, and in Queen Elizabeth National Park you can spot tree-climbing lions. Uganda hosts the highest concentration of primates on Earth.
Known for wide, long stretches of coastline, Mozambique is nothing short of mesmerising. It offers turquoise waters abounding in sea life and a fascinating mix of cultures. Mozambique has a more authentic feel than many other Indian ocean retreats, with a more relaxed, uncomplicated luxury and authentic experience than one finds elsewhere.
With everything from white-sand beaches to epic waterfalls and hiking trails, Mauritius is a destination that keeps on giving. It is also an island brimming with a medley of culture. Delve into the country’s history and local traditions, discover the diverse cuisines and explore its laid back coastal villages.
The Seychelles
There is no beach destination more pristine than the Seychelles; the ultimate island escape or an idyllic finale to your safari. This nation archipelago of 115 islands has five marine national parks, abundant biodiversity in its land and marine wildlife, spectacular coral reefs for diving and snorkelling, and is one of the world leaders in sustainable tourism matched with unparalleled glamour and luxury.
The African island of Zanzibar, paired with its Arabian history, makes for an excellent safari add-on. With intriguing architecture evident in the main town, Stone Town, you will be able to experience a mix of culture and landscape with pristine beaches and crystal clear waters.

Africa’s First Quiet Park: How Namibia is Redefining Solitude-Driven Luxury Travel
Adelle Bell
Safari Travel Planner
Author: Adelle Bell
Published: 20 August 2024
In a world increasingly dominated by noise and distraction, a new trend is emerging among discerning travelers: the pursuit of genuine solitude.
Africa, long celebrated for its expansive landscapes and pristine wilderness, has just gained global recognition in this niche space thanks to Namibia .
The iconic Southern Africa safari destination’s NamibRand Nature Reserve has been awarded the status of a Wilderness Quiet Park , making it Africa’s first contribution to a select group of locations worldwide that preserve the rare luxury of natural silence .
The Rise of Quiet Parks: A Global Movement for Preservation
The concept of Quiet Parks was pioneered by acoustic ecologist Gordon Hempton , whose mission began with the “One Square Inch of Silence” initiative in 2005.
What started as a small-scale effort has since evolved into Quiet Parks International , a global non-profit dedicated to safeguarding Earth’s most pristine soundscapes.
These parks are distinguished by the absence of human-made noise, offering an immersive experience where nature speaks through the rustling of leaves and the whisper of the wind across their natural landscapes.
The NamibRand Nature Reserve now stands among only four other destinations worldwide to receive this Wilderness Quiet Parks recognition, joining iconic sites like Glacier National Park in the United States and Zabalo River in Ecuador.
This milestone not only highlights Africa’s potential as a destination for solitude seekers but also underscores the continent’s growing role in sustainable, conservation-focused tourism.
What Makes NamibRand a Wilderness Quiet Park?
Spanning over 200,000 hectares and nestled between the Namib-Naukluft National Park and the Namib Sand Sea World Heritage Site, the NamibRand landscape is striking.
Known for its “red dunes, fairy circles, and open desert vistas”, it offers visitors a rare opportunity to experience nature in its purest form as NamibRand’s appeal goes beyond its visual allure; it’s now a sanctuary of silence .
The reserve’s strict conservation measures have preserved this quietude for decades. Guest accommodations are limited to just one bed per 1,000 hectares, ensuring minimal human presence.
Development is restricted in designated wilderness areas, the reserve is also celebrated for its exceptionally dark skies, earning it the title of an International Dark Sky Reserve at the Gold Tier level in 2012. For stargazers and those seeking a deeper connection with nature, this is a destination like no other.

Edward Alant, Field Recordist, shared his experience of the quiet at NamibRand stating, “I was mesmerized by the peace and tranquillity of the ever-changing landscape during my time at NamibRand. The dunes are alive and moving – recording in the desert gives you an appreciation of the complex challenges faced by so many reserves across the African continent. When I listen to the recordings, I can relive the moments, walking through the deep sand, setting up my recorder in an Acacia tree, and taking a few minutes to listen…
“A Wilderness Quiet Park Award symbolizes the effort expended by the owners and management of NamibRand to preserve the integrity of the natural ecosystem. I was privileged to spend a few days with the NamibRand Team and highly recommend anyone considering NamibRand as a destination,” Edward concludes.
NamibRand reviews on Tripadvisor echo this sentiment. A recent visitor in June described it as, “an extraordinary lifetime experience.” Vumbrimu states, “The NamibRand Nature reserve is one of the few remaining truly unspoilt places on earth. It is utterly beautiful, and the solitude is a deeply spiritual experience. To walk in the pan under a full moon, and braai under the bright Namibian stars in the quiet evening was a wonderful experience and great privilege…Difficult to convey in words. Good for the soul.”
The Luxury of Silence: Why Quiet Travel is Trending
As luxury travellers increasingly seek more meaningful and mindful experiences, the demand for genuine solitude is on the rise. It’s no longer just about escaping to remote locations; it’s about immersing oneself in spaces that offer a sense of peace, stillness, and disconnection from the digital world.
Luxury brands like Singita for example have seen a significant increase in interest for experiences centered around solitude.
The company has seen wellness evolving to emphasize access to vast, undisturbed spaces for “meaningful opportunities to just disconnect.”
Designed to take guests to uncharted destinations, they’ve taken a holistic approach to spiritual, physical, and mental wellness by “creating serene sanctuaries integrated through every aspect of the guest’s stay.”
These experiences are rooted in the psychology of disconnection, where travelers find renewal in silence and solitude.
Singita CEO Jo Bailes states, “The modern safari traveler wants to learn about other cultures and connect with nature and people.”
“Luxury has become synonymous with privacy, personalization, and the space to create meaningful experiences that foster connection.”
Planning Your Visit: Experiencing Africa’s Quiet Spaces
For luxury travelers interested in exploring these tranquil retreats, there are several ways to enhance the experience:
- Stargazing and Dark Sky Experiences : NamibRand’s clear, unpolluted skies make it an ideal location for night safaris, guided stargazing, and astrophotography sessions .
- Immersive Walking Tours : Consider joining guided walks with expert field guides who help you tune into the subtle sounds of the wilderness, from the wind in acacia trees to distant wildlife calls.
- Private Glamping and Secluded Lodges : Stay at eco-lodges or exclusive-use camps that offer the privacy and solitude luxury travelers seek. Accommodations are designed to be unobtrusive, blending into the landscape while offering high-end comforts.
- Wellness Retreats in Nature : Many of these destinations are now integrating wellness programs that include meditation, yoga, and spa therapies, providing a holistic approach to mental, physical, and spiritual rejuvenation.

The Future of Sustainable Luxury Travel
As more travellers recognize the luxury of silence, Africa’s role as a symbol of how the future of luxury travel is being defined.
By protecting these quiet spaces and promoting sustainable tourism practices, destinations like Namibia are setting a new standard for what positive impact experiences mean in luxury travel: immersive, responsible, and deeply connected to the environment.
“This accolade underscores our dedication to preserving the tranquility of NamibRand and promoting responsible tourism practices. We hope this designation will inspire others to appreciate and conserve our natural world,” said Nils Odendaal, CEO of NamibRand Nature Reserve.
NamibRand’s recognition might only be the beginning. South Africa’s Bergplaas Nature Reserve is currently under evaluation for the same Wilderness Quiet Park status, signaling that more African destinations may soon join the global quiet park network.
The reserve, located in the Western Cape, is known for its dramatic mountain scenery and vast, undisturbed spaces, making it an ideal candidate for this status.
As the movement for quiet preservation gains momentum, Africa’s vast and varied landscapes offer immense potential. Namibia’s achievement is more than a milestone for the continent; it’s a symbol of how the future of luxury travel is being redefined. In a world where noise is constant, the ability to experience pure, natural silence is now one of the ultimate indulgences.

Top Hot Air Balloon Safaris in Africa
Here’s what you can expect on a Hot Air Balloon Ride in Africa .
The older we get, the more our never-ending bucket list sneaks up on us, and it seems to get longer every year. The fact that many people consider taking a hot air balloon ride to be a must-do on this daunting list is virtually a dead giveaway.
Why not make your trip even more memorable by taking a hot air balloon ride over some of the most stunning landscapes in the world since you've traveled all the way to Africa to witness the incredible scenery and richness of wildlife?
The destinations provide perfectly beautiful views, and offer you guided nature walks, thrilling land-based game watching on the savannah in vintage safari vehicles, and a hot air balloon journey to cap off your discovery. In order to see the Great Migration, these safaris offer you the best options.
What can you expect?
You should be ready for an extremely early wake-up call because hot air balloon rides typically take off at sunrise! You will be picked up at your hotel and transported to the launch site by a representative of the business you have selected. When you arrive, your pilot will start the balloon as you are given a safety briefing on the ground.
It's time to board! As soon as everyone is inside the basket, the balloon will start to gently ascend. Before you know it, you'll be in the air, just in time to enjoy the magnificent sunrise from your bird's-eye perspective.
For an hour, you'll float through the air above the treetops with the endless savannah plains in front of you, keeping a look out for wildebeests, elephants, lions, and other animals in their natural habitat below.
What's best? When you land, the experience doesn't end! Back on solid ground, you'll be treated to a freshly prepared champagne brunch served in the African bush, replete with beautiful china and linens.
Here are some great places in Africa to have this incredible experience:
1. The Serengeti and the Maasai Mara, Tanzania/Kenya
The great plains region of East Africa, which includes the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya and the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania , is well established for tourists and offers a large selection of balloon safari companies as well as some traditional safari landscapes and wildlife. One of nature's most magnificent sights, the great wildebeest migration, may be viewed from the air in this region, along with the accompanying gazelles, zebras, lions, and hyenas. Even a remote possibility exists of seeing the Big Five in an hour from the air! In other parts of East Africa, the enormous Selous Game Reserve and Lake Manyara National Park, both in Tanzania, offer a variety of balloon safari companies as well as breathtaking scenery to view.

2. The Okavango Delta, Botswana
The Okavango Delta in Botswana has year-round greenery and is a home for wildlife and birdlife. Here, hot balloon safaris can be scheduled through your lodge or from Maun, the region's tourist hub. When traveling in a hot air balloon over Namibia's Namib Naukluft desert, you may observe the 300-meter-tall Sossusvlei sand dunes, which spread for hundreds of miles. Along with the beautiful environment, the area is home to a variety of animals that congregate near water sources, including the chance to see the fabled Namib Desert elephants. The massive Busanga Plains, which are home to enormous herds of grazers, several large predators, and jaw-dropping vistas, are found in Zambia's Kafue National Park. Hot air balloon tours above the Cape Winelands are available in Cape Town , South Africa, whether you want to take a break from or extend your stay on a safari. This provides a bird's-eye view of the stunning wine-growing regions, where vineyards stretch in every direction.
3. Sossusvlei, Namibia
The oldest ballooning business in Namibia is Namib Sky Ballooning. Long before the first lodges at Sossusvlei opened, Eric and Nancy Hesemans' family-run business, which is based in the Congo, began in 1991. When making reservations for a hot air balloon flight in Namibia , Info-Namibia bases its decision on Namib Sky Ballooning's professionalism and years of experience. Despite a 27-year routine, the four pilots' enthusiasm - including that of the Hesemans' son Denis—during each flight is impressive. Namib Sky has a lengthy history and has completed more than 60.000 successful balloon flights in the desert.
Since the wind carries the hot air balloon, it also determines where it will land. The lodging where the passengers will be picked up receives the pilots' decision about where to take off in the afternoon before the trip. As a general rule, you will be fetched either at your accommodation or at a prearranged meeting place 45 minutes before sunrise.
Just before dawn, you set off to experience an incredible sunrise from the balloon a few moments later. You will get the opportunity to see the Namib Desert come to life during the course of the following hour.
An exquisite breakfast buffet with sparkling wine is waiting for you at the remote landing site. A genuine "Out of Africa" encounter. The pilot will give you your flight certificate before driving you back to the designated pick-up points in a beautiful area.
4. Tarangire National Park, Tanzania
A hot air balloon ride in Tarangire provides the pinnacle of the African safari experience. You are a part of nature as you soar above the Tarangire on your African trip as the sunrise colors the plains pink. Your journey is determined by the prevailing winds, so no two flights are ever the same. In the early morning, game gather in large numbers along the silver ribbons of the Tarangire River and its tributaries. Herds of elephants, their suede-gray skins contrasting with white scimitar tusks as they look up at you from the safety of scrubby acacia woodlands, are also visible. In the distance, you may be able to make out the blue outline of the African Rift Valley Escarpment.
You might float low over a baobab to divert a Verreaux's Eagle Owl with a four foot wingspan that is settling down after its nocturnal hunt or see eye down onto a long-necked, knob-headed giraffe. You might also drift over dotted min-knolls of giant termite mounds, their black shadows lengthened in the morning light.

5. Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya
One of the best parts of visiting the renowned Masai Mara is floating through the air in a hot air balloon at dawn and taking in the peace as the vast grasslands spread out beneath you.
Wildlife may be spotted as you soar above the savannah, river, and woodlands. Upon landing, you'll be welcomed with a bush breakfast before taking a game drive back to camp. There are many hot air balloon companies in the Masai Mara , which is a popular game reserve.

6. Namibia – Sossusvlei & Namib-Naukluft Desert
You can view mountains, deserts, and an area covered in acacia trees at Sossusvlei. Visitors are attracted to this area by the sparse but lovely terrain. The best view of Namibia's clear skies and breathtaking scenery comes from above, though. A great place to see desert animals in its natural habitat is the Namib Naukluft Park.

7. Magaliesberg, South Africa
The Magaliesberg Mountain Range spans across two of our provinces, Gauteng and the North West, just a short drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria. It's a lovely getaway from city life where you may have lots of adventures and create memorable experiences that are out of the ordinary. These mountains formed over two billion years ago, making them almost 100 times older than Mount Everest. Despite their age, however, you can stay young at heart by exploring their valleys, climbing their cliffs, and cooling off by their waterfalls. What better way to see one of the most diverse World Heritage Sites than from a hot air balloon? Panoramic views of the surrounding ecosystem and the Cradle of Humanity are undoubtedly thrilling.

8. Drakensberg, South Africa
One of Southern Africa's most stunning geological features is the Drakensberg Mountains , which span 700 miles through two nations and five provinces of South Africa. One of the many hiking trails in the Drakensberg region is the ideal way to take in the area's breathtaking landscape, which is known across the world. Not to miss - hot balloon safari - without a foray into the clouds, a safari in South Africa will fall short of perfection.

With your visit to the best treks – you surely can’t miss Mount Kilimanjaro .
In the Kilimanjaro National Park , Mount Kilimanjaro is located in northern Tanzania. It is spread throughout a 100 kilometer by 65 kilometer region. Shira, Kibo, and Mawenzi are the three volcanic cones that make up the mountain, which is a dormant volcano. The tallest free-standing mountain in the world and the highest mountain in Africa are both named Mount Kilimanjaro. The main summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, known as Uhuru Peak, is 5,895 meters (19,341 ft) high. Mount Everest is slightly more than 2,950 meters (or 8,848 meters) higher than Mt. Kilimanjaro, at 29,029 feet. On the Kilimanjaro, climbers who take the quick routes get to the top in 4-5 days. Due to the likelihood of altitude sickness, Mount Kilimanjaro is a challenging and very dangerous peak to walk. One of the Seven Summits, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa (i.e. highest mountains on each of the seven continents). Although it is possible to obtain special authorization from the Tanzanian government to bring children younger than 10 years old on a Kilimanjaro expedition, the minimum age to climb Kilimanjaro is ten years or older.

Tips for taking a Hot Air Balloon Safaris in Africa –
● It's best to try to make your balloon safari reservations at least two weeks in advance during the busy season.
● Look around before making a decision because some hot balloon safaris come with accommodations if you're planning your vacation alone.
● Wear layers of clothing so you may take some off or add more as needed because it will be cold in the morning and the air will be high.
● Since you will be going to and from the balloon, sandals and open-toed shoes are not advised. You should wear a pair of cozy sneakers.
● Watch for any games you're particularly interested in seeing, and if you do, ask your driver or tour guide to take you there on the way back to your hotel.
● Ask the business running the balloon safari what is included. After landing, there will usually be a brunch and transportation to and from your lodging.
● For the photography enthusiasts: As always, your chances of taking the "perfect" picture increase the more photos you take.
● Use a fast shutter speed, turn on whatever auto-image stabilization your camera offers, and/or raise your camera's ISO to avoid any blurring or tremor effects that may result from aerial shooting.

Frequently Asked Questions on Hot Air Balloon Safaris in Africa
1. Is hot air ballooning safe?
Even though each sport carries a unique set of risks, hot air ballooning is usually regarded as one of the safest ways to fly. Furthermore, the emphasis for this action is always passenger safety.
2. Is it cold on a hot air balloon safari?
Early morning flights are chilly on the ground, but once you're in the basket, it will warm up. It's best to layer your clothing so you can add or take away layers as the weather changes.
3. How many people fit into the basket?
This is dependent on the size of the balloon and the provider you choose. Smaller hot air balloons may only have room for 4 to 8 passengers, but some larger balloons can carry up to 16 or more. Before making a reservation, get in touch with the airline you intend to fly with if you'd prefer a private or intimate experience.
4. What to wear on a hot air balloon safari?
Although it will be chilly in the morning, the temperature will increase throughout the day. For this activity, warm layering clothing, a windbreaker, a hat, and long pants are ideal.
5. How much does a hot air balloon safari cost?
Several variables, such as the season and the location, will have a big impact on the price. Consequently, you should expect to pay more in popular safari destinations like the Serengeti, the Masai Mara, and Kruger National Park.
