Shania Twain is a Canadian country music singer-songwriter originally from Ontario who is often affectionally referred to as "The Queen of Country Pop".

After Shania, real name Eileen Edwards graduated from Timmins High in June 1983 she quickly began her pursuit of a musical career after being involved with musicians and bands during her studies. She began experimenting with music yet following the tragic death of her mother and stepfather in a car accident she returned to her hometown to care for her younger siblings.

It was a number of years later that she released her solo album titled 'Shania Twain' through Mercury Nashville records which went on to chart at #67 on the US Country Charts. From this album, Shania's fame and success simply sky rocketed at an alarming pace that nobody could quite predict. 'The Woman in Me' debuted at #5 on the US charts and #6 in Canada, it featured a selection of country hit singles such as 'The Woman in Me (Needs the Man in You)', 'Any Man of Mine' and 'You Win My Love'. In total it featured six number one Country singles and two other top ten hits. It holds a two times diamond selling certificate in Canada and twelves times platinum selling in the States.

Her next album 'Come On Over' was an even greater success. It features two global hits of the 1990s, 'You're Still The One' and 'That Don't Impress Me Much' which charted around the world and turned Shania Twain into a household name. This album holds a twenty times platinum selling certificate in the US, a twelve times platinum in the UK and another double diamond in Canada. It is the highest selling Country album of all time. Shortly after the release of her 2002 album 'Up!' Shania was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame due to her huge musical success.

Her next album has been delayed for a number of years, she has since released a Greatest Hits package which featured three new tracks and in 2011 she reappeared with her first single in six years 'Today Is Your Day'. To date Twain has sold 85 million albums worldwide making her one of Country music's most successful female artists of all time.

Queen of country pop, Shania Twain, certainly knows how to put on a show. Currently a resident performer at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, Shania is a real crowd pleaser.

This May I paid the venue a visit and boy did I enjoy the show! The opening number is truly spectacular. Three electric guitars jam along to the intro ‘Man I Feel like a Woman’ as strobe lights flash against a backdrop screen showing fire and explosions. Slowly, giant letters spelling the name ‘SHANIA’ descend from the ceiling. Then comes the distinctive trumpet blare and Twain announces in her trademark sultry tones, ‘let’s go girls!’ Stunning! What an opening to get the crowd going!

The show continues in a similar vein, with equally pleasing renditions of ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ and ‘I’m Gona Getcha Good.’ This show is guaranteed to get you singing and dancing along. I especially enjoyed the chance to let loose to my favourite tunes from my ’90s childhood!

Twain managed to lend the show an intimate feel in the huge arena, chatting to the audience between songs. The country queen even throws her hat into crowd during the final number, inviting whoever catches it to meet her backstage after the show! Shania Twain’s Caesar’s Palace show is one of the most fun nights out I’ve ever had and I’d thoroughly recommend checking it out.

Watching Shania Twain perform live is like watching an icon. Perhaps because it is watching an icon. Shania Twain is, without a doubt, the queen of Country. Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Twain has made a massive name for herself in the music industry and is one of the most famous names in Country music. Her style is really more Country pop, and her songs are catchy and fun. Even her ballads are catchy and her voice is undeniably beautiful and authentic. She performed all her greatest hits, including the massive ‘Man, I Feel Like a Woman’ (which opened the show on a great note), ‘You’re Still the One’ and the highly anticipated ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’. The latter song was met with a tremendous uproar as the crowd went wild and started singing along so loudly and robustly that the entire venue was trembling with the force of it. Shania was accompanied with a team of brilliant musicians. The violinists were particularly brilliant. Shania herself owned the stage, running around and singing with such enthusiasm and confidence.

It's rumoured nothing impresses Shania Twain very much but luckily for her fans the live show impresses them plenty. The Canadian singer/songwriter is one of the world's highest selling female artists of all time with a universal appeal so as you can imagine, the touring obligations are pretty serious when you have a fanbase this large to reach.

Unfortunately her appearances in the UK are often dwarfed by her commitments to the States although when she does appear on the British isles, the fans turn out in force. She is an unarguable diva with a stage presence all of her own, she commands everybody else onstage including the musicians, the dancers and even some of the technical crew. Then you take a glance at the hit laced setlist and realise she has 'Man! I Feel Like A Woman' '(If You're Not in It for Love) I'm Outta Here!' 'Come On Over' and 'You're Still the One' to keep the crowds singing, dancing and cheering along with effortless ease.

Fun Concert. Tons of ladies in the audience for a girls night out feel, still some guys though. Shania's male band members were on stage at times for that extra feel. You can't help but dance by a few songs. From her earlier days to mid-career hits and a few later, the pickings were getcha good. When it comes to props, she was "going up" and I enjoyed her outfit changes and some pre-recorded screen coverage of her beautiful in satin. "I feel like a woman!" It was a great concert to celebrate my birthday in my prime. Boots for myself would have enhanced mirroring the event!

I had the best time of my life she was everything I expected and more it was a present for my 65th birthday and I certainly wasn't disappointed I loved every minute of it it was absolutely fantastic I couldn't walk after it for a couple of days but it was worth it I've waited 20 years to see her and she was as good as the day she started out and just as beautiful can't wait to see her again could have stayed there all night and we just got home from New Jersey that morning love love loved it

She has NOT her style! From the moment she stepped out on stage she kept the momentum goin! The highlight was a polish guy proposed to his NOW fiancee twice once in Polish and then in English! They stayed "Up!" there for "You're Still The One" which is really sweet! From This Moment On was another beautifully song sung perfectly by the 1999 CMA Entertainer of the year! It's no wonder why she's Billboards #1 tour!

What an amazing energetic awesome concert!!! Shania was better than I ever dreamed she would be. She played for 2 hours straight playing a mix of old and new and sounded so GOOD in person!!! Her female drummer was HOT!! She can play with any guy out there hands down!!! I’ve been a Shania fan ever since she first came out years and years ago and this concert did nothing but make me a BIGGER fan!! 5 star rating easily

Absolutely fantastic show Shania had great stage prescene and interacted with the audience so well and she brought two audience members up on stage which made their night. Stage looked amazing with great props and lighting and Shania sang all her hits and a few more so brilliantly, she got the crowd on their feet and it was just electric. Enjoyed every minute. Thank you Shania for a brillaint memorable evening. X

It was an awesome show. I love the fact that she entered through one of the seating sections and surprised the audience. The stage was visually spectacular with huge LED box screens and a great drummer and musicians.

She had amazing dancers who were also back up singers. The music was great and as always Shania sounded and looked spectacular. Even my husband loved the song. ❤❤

made the evening memorable. Loved the way Shania "connected" with the audience. Just wish the musicians names and hometowns were shared. Even if it was credits that scrolled at the end. Entertainer of the Year award worthy performance!

Shania Twain, Officially a ‘Legend’

The Glastonbury Festival’s coveted “Legend’s Slot,” at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, was hers and she said she was ready for the “most extraordinary party of my career.”

On a recent Friday, Shania Twain rode a horse through rural terrain in Alberta, Canada, helping a neighbor relocate a herd of Angus cattle. As cows mooed loudly around her, the country-pop star multitasked, chatting on the phone about prepping for an appearance on a famous field an ocean away.

Twain recalled how she started to perform at age 8 in smoky bars where drunk men would sometimes heckle her. As a result, she developed stage fright and hated being in the spotlight until she was about 50, she said, so the idea of performing for more than 200,000 revelers at Britain’s biggest music festival would have been anxiety inducing.

But on Sunday afternoon, Twain, now 58, walked onstage at the Glastonbury Festival and did just that. Accompanied by a herd of equines (giant hobby horses, this time), Twain kicked off with “ That Don’t Impress Me Much ,” her 1998 megahit about dismissing romantic suitors. Within seconds, the vast crowd was singing along, dozens of women climbing up onto friends’ shoulders, their hands outstretched in front of them.

She was occupying the most coveted slot at Britain’s largest and longest-running music event, the so-called Legend’s Slot, at 3:45 p.m. on the festival’s final day, an appearance she said she expected to be the “most extraordinary party of my career.”

The musician who earns this prized booking — past performers have included Dolly Parton, Diana Ross and Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys — not only gets to hear tens of thousands of fans singing their music back to them, but also secures a large live TV audience, which typically results in a boost in record sales and streams.

In 2019, when Kylie Minogue played the slot, some 3.2 million viewers watched the performance live on the BBC . The Killers, who were one of the headliners, only attracted half that total.

This year, Twain competed for ratings with Glastonbury’s three official headliners: Dua Lipa, Coldplay (who on Saturday brought Michael J. Fox onstage during a performance of “Fix You”) and SZA.

Lionel Richie, who was the event’s “legend” in 2015, said in an email that after decades spent headlining dark theaters, taking the stage on an afternoon was unique because he could see the huge crowd’s every emotion. He added that many festivalgoers had dressed up to look like him, and at one point, an apparently nude fan crowd-surfed in a canoe. As fans sang along to every word, “I had to remind the audience that this was my show,” he said.

On Sunday, Twain sometimes seemed shocked by the crowd. At one point, she spotted three women who appeared to be wearing Shania Twain masks and reacted with amused surprise. Like Richie, she was struck by her ability to see her audience clearly, noting she could look out “right to the tents” on the hill. “It’s really moving,” she announced.

Twain said in the recent interview that she was aware of the importance of Glastonbury in British culture. Her team — some members are British — had explained that the event is like a temporary city that magically appears in the countryside each year and can, at times, feel almost spiritual. When they’re not watching pop stars perform, Glastonbury attendees can visit a stone circle, take dance classes or chant for peace.

“The way I look at it, is it’s a real cultural experience for everyone that goes,” Twain said, “and I plan on going early so I can take that in.” (That included bringing along rain boots to traipse through the grounds’ often muddy terrain. Attendees this year were lucky and encountered mostly dry conditions.)

When Michael Eavis, a dairy farmer, started the festival at Worthy Farm in 1970, it was a far more low-key affair. Tickets for the first event, headlined by Marc Bolan and what was to become T. Rex, cost 1 pound, about $1.20. Eavis gave the 1,500 attendees free milk from his cows.

As the festival grew, Eavis said in a recent email, he booked a host of acts that he regarded as legends, including Curtis Mayfield and Tom Jones. But it wasn’t until after the 1994 festival that the Sunday afternoon slot was earmarked for a special performance.

That year, Eavis said, he booked Johnny Cash to play at teatime. The country singer’s set ended up going down so well, Eavis said, that he “made sure we had someone in that slot every year after that.”

Emily Eavis, Michael’s daughter who now co-organizes the event, said in an email that she thought the “Legend’s Slot” had such impact because it took place on the festival’s final day, after attendees had spent five days “living here in these fields,” and were looking for a last party before returning to everyday life.

Twain was perfect for that moment, she added: “Shania just has the songs that connect when you have over a hundred thousand people in that Sunday afternoon, tired and emotional.”

Ahead of her trip, Twain said it was a surreal honor that she was now, in Britain at least, an official “legend.” She doesn’t see herself as a so-called “heritage act,” though, because she still wants to write new songs and collaborate with younger stars, including Harry Styles . “I want to learn new things and see my own creativity broaden,” she said. “I feel very unlimited.”Looking ahead to her set, she said she knew her job was to “take on the vibe of the festival,” and entertain. “This isn’t just another show,” she said. At Glastonbury, “the audience is the show.”

On Sunday, there were moments when that was the case. When Twain sang “You’re Still the One” while sitting on a stool, a large part of the crowd — many wearing cowboy outfits, or leopard print — crooned the track’s romantic lyrics while looking at friends, only occasionally glancing up at the stage.

And as Twain prepared to finish her set with “ Man! I Feel Like a Woman! ,” she clearly knew the audience had been waiting to belt the track’s feminist chorus. “This whole song is all about you,” she told the crowd. “You’ve just got to let it out,” she added, “and tell me and everybody around you how you feel.” Then she let everyone sing for her.

One fan in a cowboy hat, Erin Stewart, 30, called the show “absolutely life-changing.” She said she had been listening to Twain for 25 years and always considered her a legend. But finally seeing Twain perform live “was magical,” Stewart said: “I can die happy now.”

Shania Twain is a country music artist. In the late 90s, she rose to superstardom with four albums and a greatest hits collection. Her new album is called NOW and is released September 29, 2017. This will be her first album of new songs since 2002 and is supported by the singles “Life’s About to Get Good” and “Poor Me”.

In 2018, Shania Twain headed out on the NOW tour! This was Shania’s first major tour in years. It began in May of 2018.

For the end of 2019 and all of 2020, Shania Twain announced her Let’s Go Las Vegas residency show. She performed in the headline slot on the America Music Awards in support of the upcoming tour. Unfortunately, those shows had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. She did return for a few limited concerts and shows instead.

Country music icon Shania Twain made her Glastonbury debut in the Legends slot on Sunday afternoon, yet many fans were left issuing a plea to festival bosses as she took to the stage

Shania Twain took to the Pyramid Stage in the iconic Legends slot - yet many fans watching at home had the same complaint.

The country star made her Glastonbury debut on Sunday afternoon and kicked off her set in front of thousands of fans with her iconic hit That Don't Impress Me Much. However, many fans watching from home were not so impressed as she took to the stage. Music fans were left begging festival bosses to make a huge change due to the sound quality.

Many fans slammed the performance for sounding "flat". Taking to X to share their thoughts, one person said: "Is it me or does Shania sounds bloody terrible #Glastonbury." Another added: "#Glastonbury Well that didn't impress me much, flat as a pancake." Someone else commented: "This isn't impressing me much. #Glastonbury."

A fourth urged: "C'mon #Glastonbury sort the sound out for #Shania. She's a trooper,so she's keeping on keeping on, but she deserves better than this!" Someone else asked: "are her in ears not working or is she just having one live? #Glastonbury." One concerned fan commented: "Is Shania unwell? She sounds like she's really struggling with her vocals here. A shame. #Glastonbury #Glastonbury2024."

One fan commented: "Shania Twain and Cyndi Lauper both thrown under the bus by the Glastonbury sound engineers. Looks like neither of them could hear themselves so we’re out of time. Also the sound mix is generally dreadful." Another echoed: "Tapping in to defend Shania Twain She can really sing live, as someone who stood this close to her. Something is just not working for her here…" Someone else fumed: "What the hell is going on with the sound at Glastonbury this year? They’ve done Shania Twain dirty here #painful."

A viewer added: "I can only assume the sound system at Glastonbury is faulty because Shania Twain sound like me.." Someone else pointed out: "Cyndi had similar problems yesterday. Don't the organisers do the sound properly for female artists?" Another shared: "Same thing was happening with cyndi lauper it’s like it’s lagging behind." One fan guessed: "It’s her inner ear monitors , she can’t hear her band is guessing the timing."

Someone else shared: "People need to learn how live music works. Shania Twain was clearly having in ear issues for the first couple songs. Fingers in ears and on the battery pack constantly. Third song it got sorted and she was in tune and in time. But nope judgements already been made."

On Saturday, pop star Cyndi Lauper had a similar experience as she performed at Glastonbury. The hitmaker behind Girls Just Want To Have Fun opened with her 1980s track The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough, while dealing with mic issues that appeared to be improving by the end. Cyndi also had a solo moment with the recorder during her second track. However, Cyndi experienced a mass walk out after performing her huge hit Girls Just Want To Have Fun. The singer noticed people were heading away from the stage after her hit song, with a Mirror reporter at Glastonbury spotting Cyndi looking visibly upset.

The country music icon, 58, is following in the footsteps of Diana Ross , Johnny Cash and Kylie Minogue , who have all played the same coveted position over the years. Speaking of getting the gig, Shania said she’d "been hearing about it for years" and was waiting with baited breath.

"My manager said, 'I wouldn't be surprised if that comes up,' but it's an invite that feels like a once-in-a-lifetime thing. I was on the edge of my seat until it became a reality. Other people who have played the slot, like Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton, are musicians I'm heavily influenced by and look up to," she told Radio Times .

Glastonbury day 5 highlights from technical difficulties to SZA’s headline act

Glastonbury Festival’s final day has come and gone with sound issues galore and a divisive closing night headline act from SZA.

The American singer-songwriter SZA’s festival debut was affected by sound problems which negatively impacted her microphone quality and vocals.

The singer also faced a small crowd compared to the previous headliners, Dua Lipa and Coldplay , and she struggled with fierce retaliation on social media after a set with no guest cameos and little interaction with the crowd.

SZA followed a busy line-up throughout the day but many other singers struggled with their sound system set-ups as well.

Shania Twain brought her all for the Legends slot earlier in the day but fans pointed out vocal troubles also plagued the country legend. It comes a day after Cyndi Lauper also suffered from technical issues and wardrobe difficulties.

Meanwhile, Janelle Monae roused the crowds with a passionate speech about standing up for ‘marginalised people’ as she celebrated Pride month.

And Avril Lavigne took packed-out crowds on a nostalgia trip with her Other Stage Glasto set singing hit tunes such as Girlfriend and Complicated.

SZA defended amid brutal backlash as she headlines Glastonbury’s closing night

After an evening littered with technical difficulties and small crowds, R&B artist SZA has faced mounting backlash to her closing night set on social media.

She told crowds at the end of her set that she was ‘so nervous’ to be here tonight.

The Kill Bill hitmaker performed on the Pyramid Stage for the final night of Glastonbury.

But many on X have labelled the performance ‘completely rubbish’ and questioned why she was chosen as the headliner.

However, fans have sprung to the singer’s defence. The festival has previously suffered criticism for its lack of female headliners and diverse line-ups.

SZA has taken Glastonbury 2024’s closing night headline slot on Pyramid Stage, only filled by two Black female artists prior to her including Beyonce in 2011.

After a hugely popular performance at BST Hyde Park last night the acclaimed singer is running through her greatest hits for the Glasto crowd.

Although some have pointed out that the crowd seems thinner than normal for such a prestigious spot.

SZA fans have shared their absolute dismay as the star’s microphone continues to muffle her voice during closing night set on the Pyramid Stage.

‘I’m really sorry, but I can’t understand a word that is coming out of SZA’s mouth. Why is nobody changing the microphone? Did this cause the late start?,’ @philscully posted on X.

SZA has kicked off her Sunday night headline set on Pyramid Stage but those on the ground and watching don’t he live stream have noticed issues with sound quality.

This has also impacted prior artists at the festival including Shania Twain earlier today.

The American R&B artist , 34 has won four Grammy awards and been nominated a whopping 34 times for her impressive neo-soul discography.

She has released two studio albums, three EPs, one live album, and 44 singles (11 of which as a featured artist).

Her stage name is inspired by rapper RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan. The last two letters in her name stand for Zig-Zag and Allah (she grew up Muslim), while the S means saviour or sovereign, interchangeably.

Her second album SOS came out in 2022 and topped the Billboard 200 for 10 weeks as well as producing her chart-topping single Kill Bill.

She has also collaborated with artists such as Justin Timberlake, Drake, Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzo, and Maroon 5.

Acclaimed American artist SZA has become a global name in the music industry, with her chart-topping alt R&B songs.

SZA’s actual name is Solána Imani Rowe and for those wondering how to pronounce the stage title, it is SIZ-uh.

The star opened up about the meaning behind the pseudonym in an interview with InStyle in 2018.

According to the singer, it is an ‘acronym derived from the Supreme Alphabet [an alphanumeric code developed by Clarence 13X,] if you’re familiar with Wu-Tang and RZA [an American rapper].’

She continued: ‘So each letter stands for a different ideology and theme. The S stands for Sovereign or Self, Savior; the Z stands for Zig-Zag-Zig, which is enlightenment and acknowledgement of one’s self; and the A stands for the most high of all [Allah].’

Glastonbury fans get a sneak peek of SZA’s ornate stage set-up ahead of headlining debut

Glastonbury is about to finish with a flourish as SZA gears up for her Sunday night headline set on the Pyramid Stage.

The Grammy winner’s stage is set to take festivalgoers on a visual – as well as an auditory – journey.

Most of the stage is filled with large brown, wooden-like, round structures that offer a rustic style. They are paired with stalactite-shaped objects, in a similar dusty brown colour, hanging from the top of the stage and scattered throughout.

The Snooze hitmaker’s Glastonbury set comes after her performance at BST Hype Park yesterday where she teased a new album to fans.

Two Door Cinema Club got Worthy Farm bopping as they took to the Other stage.

Returning to the festival, the Northern Irish electro-pop band and indie icons played the penultimate performance on Sunday.

Nigerian singer Burna Boy opened his Pyramid Stage set with echoes of a Western theme, complete with a jean top and brown leather jacket.

He has a prop building on stage, named Burna’s Saloon, cacti, a screen displaying ‘wanted signs’ and what appears to be a plastic life-sized horse as he sings the track Tested, Approved & Trusted.

The Afrobeats singer promised the audience at Glastonbury that he would take them to a ‘Nigerian party’ on the festival’s closing night.

He said they had ‘probably never been to a Nigerian party’ before launching into Gbona, featuring rapping and an infectious tune.

The Nigerian singer, 32 – real name Damini Ogul – really worked the crowd as he told them to jump and down and shouted ‘Glastonbury!’ at points during the track Kilometre.

Cara Delevingne has been having a blast at Glastonbury 2024 and just yesterday was spotted at The Last Dinner Party’s set with Anya Taylor-Joy alongside the rest of the indie rock band’s fanbase.

British actor Florence Pugh has been spotted at the five-day Worthy Farm Festival and has been up to plenty of mischief as she catches various music sets.

As Rolling Stone UK interviewed Shaun of the Dead creators Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright to mark the film’s 20th anniversary, she stumbled upon the trio and quickly got involved.

‘Sorry, waving to Florence Pugh,’ Edgar told the interviewer after getting distracted by someone off-screen.

R&B artist Janelle Monae followed on from Shania Twain on Glastonbury’s main stage with her acclaimed discography including hit songs such as Lipstick Lover.

During her set, the star took a moment to celebrate Pride month which has come to an end.

‘Happy Pride,’ she exclaimed to the crowd.

The Grammy nominee continued: ‘You know, I see a lot of free-ass motherf**kers in the crowd tonight.

‘This is for all of you who were called weird, and odd, and you decided to embrace the things that make you unique even if it made others uncomfortable. You are here today and I’m so proud of you. I’m proud of me too.’

Later in the set, she expanded on her message to cover a whole range of geo-political issues.

‘We have the best community and it’s not because we look the coolest and we are the coolest, it’s because of the way we protect other marginalised people,’ she said.

‘Now more than ever it is clear we are gonna have to protect us. No politician, but we the people will have to show up.

‘I’m proud during this Pride month to stand with you as you fight back against genocide, as you fight back against the criminalisation of homeless people, as you bring in laws to protect our bodies. “Our body, our choice” as you fight for those laws to be protected.

‘As you stand with our Muslim brothers and sisters against Islamophobia. We protect the LGBTQIA+ rights, we protect black history in schools, we protect the poor. These are our people and we know injustice, we know it and so when we see it we gotta keep calling it out,’ she concluded to the cheering crowd.

Avril Lavigne has started her Glastonbury Other Stage set with the perfect nostalgia tune, Girlfriend, as thousands gathered to hear the American singer.

She’s also singing other classics such as Complicated.

Fans are also praising the singer’s knockout performance, saying there is a ‘mad rush’ as festivalgoers come to see her set.

Many viewers are even switching over from the England match to catch her set on the BBC livestream.

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson sets up TV for Glastonbury fans to watch the Euros match after ban

It may be the final night of Glastonbury but music is not the only thing of festivalgoers minds.

England are playing Slovakia tonight in their first round-of-16 game with many Glasto attendees scrambling to find somewhere to watch the match.

Luckily Louis, 32, came prepared and was spotted setting up a TV among the crowd to give people the best view.

Hairstylist Lou Teasdale shared a snap of the unconventional set up on her Instagram story.

Glastonbury bosses previously confirmed they would not be airing the match officially.

‘In previous years, we have endeavoured to show notable matches on big screens where possible, particularly on days before the main stages have opened.

However, with England and  Scotland ’s Last 16 matches potentially clashing with headline sets at this year’s Festival, the decision has been made that as in 2014 and 2016 should England or Scotland qualify from their groups, their Last 16 matches will not be shown at the Festival,’ they said at the time.

Regardless, people are certainly finding ways to watch it whether on iPhone or iPad.

Coldplay headlined Glastonbury for a record-breaking fifth time on Saturday night with an unforgettable set.

Who is closing Glastonbury 2024 as we enter the final evening of musical festivities?

The five-day Somerset festival is coming to a close after phenomenal headline performances from Dua Lipa, Coldplay and Shania Twain in the Legends slot.

As the evening draws in, American singer-songwriter SZA is the closing headliner with plans to take to Pyramid stage at 9:30pm tonight.

The Grammy-winning artist will make her Worthy Farm debut tonight, just one day after blowing crowds away at BST Hype Park.

She is best known for hit songs such as Kill Bill, Snooze and Saturn. She released her second album SOS in 2022 which peaked at number two in the UK charts,

On the Other Stage, The National will start their performance at 9:45pm.

Meanwhile, Justice will take over West Holts Stage at 10pm, James Blake will appear at Woodsies at 9:30pm and London Grammar will hit the Park Stage at 9:15pm.

Talking about the clash to the BBC, lead singer of London Grammar, Hannah Reid, said: ‘So, The National and SZA are two of my favourite acts ever but I have a child now, so I might have to just go home and take care of him.

‘But yeah, it’s funny for me, those two clashes. I’m going to be trying to focus on our own show, while seeing if I can like hear SZA and The National floating over on the breeze.’

Shania Twain pulls slot back from brink of disaster after sound troubles throughout set

The country singer just wrapped her Legends slot performance on the main stage with viewers praising her set.

The chart-topping country musician had a shaky start after many people pointed out sound issues severely affecting her vocals.

The set improved, and grew louder, over the course of her time on stage with the artist concluding her performance with her best-known single Man! I Feel Like A Woman.

After she finished up, fans flocked to social media to praise the singer despite her historic vocal issues due to Lyme disease (which left her fearful she would never sing again).

‘Shania Twain… INCREDIBLE, ended on the best way it possibly could ending with Feel like a women, getting the crowd all involved with it just incredible, so good,’ @scottthfc23 added.

Shania Twain says she has been faced with ‘lots of unusual things’ while at Glastonbury

The Legends slot singer shared why the community setting at major music festivals like Glastonbury is so ‘life-changing’.

‘I find moments like this very life-changing because when you are in a community setting like this you are faced with lots of unusual things,’ she told the thousands-strong crowd.

She continued: ‘Like when am I gonna shower, or how do you make it to pee when you’ve been standing out there – basic things, human things.

‘I think we can all relate to each other very much when we congregate over something we really love.

‘We help each other with the practical things and we put all the bull s**t aside. There’s no room for bulls**t in this environment and I really think that’s beautiful.’

She then went on to sing her 1997 hit From This Moment On.

Shania Twain sings title track from ‘album that changed her life’ after topping UK charts

The hit singer got the crowd involved in a sing-along for her lead 1997 single Come On Over.

‘Most of us have actually been listening to my music for [over] 27 years and this is the title track from an album that changed my life in 1997,’ she told the crowd.

She continued: ‘I don’t know what you were doing in 1997 but I was definitely finishing up this album and hoping for the best. It has some good advice in the lyrics.’

She then encouraged the crowd to sing with her as she kicked the tune off.

The album spent 11 weeks at number one in the charts in the UK and was the best-selling album of 1999 after an initial slow start.

After a couple more songs, she added: ‘I’m overwhelmed being here in so many different ways, just seeing your energy… thank you so much!’

Shania Twain praises ‘really, really special’ crowd as Legends slot gets underway

Country singer Shania Twain has shared a heartfelt message to the thousands of fans attending her Legends slot at Glastonbury.

After her first few songs (which contained some sound troubles), Shania shouted out to the crowd: ‘Glastonbury, how can I get closer to you?’

She then tried to climb down the side of the stage being ‘careful’, coming to the front portion before carrying on, saying: ‘This is amazing because I can see everything, everyone, every flag, I can see the whole city of Glastonbury up here. It’s really really special, I wanna say, it’s such an honour to be invited.’ 

Reacting to fans in the crowd wearing masks of her face, she then said: ‘What is this I’m seeing in front of me, these are like, masks? Show me – these aren’t Shania faces, are they? And I see a lot of cowboy hats, leopard prints – I feel and I see your support, thank you so much for having me!’

Before going into a rendition of her song Up!, Shania roused the crowd by saying ‘When you’re having a really shitty day, think back to this day at Glastonbury!’

She later added: ‘I can see all of you, all the way to the back right up to the tents and it’s really moving.

‘My greatest joy is making music and sharing it with all of you.’

Although those on the ground confirmed her voice started pretty quiet, her mic has since been turned up.

Shania Twain brought not only country music but country fashion to Glastonbury on June 30, where she performed wearing black rhinestone cowboy boots with a minidress and cowboy hat.

The Canadian star took to the Pyramid stage at the English music festival dressed in a striking ensemble fit for a massive audience of country fans. She wore a form-fitting black sequined minidress complete with fishnet tights. She further embraced the edgy monochrome aesthetic with a pair of black gloves. For part of her performance, Twain added a splash of color with a dramatic ruffled pink cape, made of layers of ruched fabric folded in ways that resembled the petals of a flower.

Twain’s sartorial pièce de résistance was a pair of heeled cowboy boots. The black leather shoes were a traditional cowboy boot height, coming up below her knee and featuring a curved V-shaped silhouette at the top. Aligning with the design of her hat, the shoes were bedazzled with shiny stones, which decorated an embroidered floral design. The shoes also included a pointed toe and a square block heel that lent Twain a few additional inches.

In addition to writing and performing hit songs like “You’re Still the One,” Twain is recognized for her taste in fashion; she’s sported an assortment of eye-catching footwear throughout her career. As the iconic country artist she is, she knows the value of a good cowboy boot; she likes to make a statement in an embellished pair, like these rhinestone boots she showed on TikTok in 2023 and revealed as part of her “Queen of Me” tour wardrobe. She also wore animal print platforms on stage last year to complete an entirely animal print ensemble, which was a reference to her 1997 “That Don’t Impress Me Much” music video.

Twain even has multiple songs referencing shoes, including “Shoes” and “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?”

Shania Twain , one of the bestselling artists in country music history, takes to the stage at Malahide Castle in Dublin on Friday, June 28th. She last performed in Ireland in September to a sold-out crowd at the 3Arena. Our four-star review described the night as “an array of self-empowerment and self-validation songs that shove male chauvinists out the door with a boot to the butt”.

Twain’s blend of country and pop music has led to career hits including You’re Still the One, Man! I Feel Like a Woman!, I’m Gonna Getcha Good! and her biggest cross-over smash, That Don’t Impress Me Much.

What time should I arrive?

Gates open at 4pm with the show scheduled to start at 5pm.

Who is the support act?

Rag’n’Bone Man, aka British bluesman Rory Graham, will open the show.

Are there any tickets left?

At the time of writing there are still some tickets available on Ticketmaster.ie . Buy tickets from accredited sources only.

How do I get there – and home again?

Malahide Castle site map

The concert entrance, via Hogan’s Gate, is about a 15-minute walk from Malahide Dart station – the organisers recommend public transport, given the likely congestion and parking problems (clampers and tow trucks will be operating) for anybody who drives to the concert. Make sure to plan and book your return travel in advance – it’s a long walk back to the city.

Dart, train and bus: The Dart will be running services to and from Malahide Dart station. There will be a direct bus service to Custom House Quay, Dublin 1, after the event from the Dublin Road, offered as a single or return service. You can pre-book and find more information at marathoncoaches.ie .

Concert Express is operating a single-journey bus service into Dublin city centre following the event. There will also be a return service to Ratoath that serves Ashbourne and Swords. You can pre-book and find more information at ConcertExpress.ie .

By car: There is limited car parking available at Malahide Castle. To avoid disappointment concertgoers are strongly advised to book parking as soon as possible through the Evntz app.

Illegal parking in areas surrounding Malahide Castle and in local estates will be subject to clamping or being towed.

• Driving from the south: Take the M50, leave the motorway at junction 3 (signposted M1 Belfast/Airport), continuing on to the R139. At the roundabout take the second exit, continuing on the R139 for 2.6km. Turn left on to Malahide Road/R107. Continue for 4.2km, then take a right on to Back Road. Follow the signs for the car parks, which will be on your left.
• From the north: Take the M1, leave the motorway at junction 4 (signposted R132 Swords/Malahide/Donabate). Keep right, merging on to the R132. At the roundabout take the second exit, keeping on the R132. At the next roundabout take the second exit, staying on R132. Take a slight left, merging on to the Swords Road/R106 and continue for 2.9km. Turn right on to Dublin Road/R107, continue for 700m and then turn left on to Back Road. Follow the signs for the car parks, which will be on your left.

What’s the story with security?

Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult over 25; bring your passport, Garda age card or driving licence as evidence of your date of birth.

Allow time for security checks on the way in. Bags larger than A4 size will not be permitted and all bags may be searched, and this can be time-consuming so consider going bagless for easier entry. There will be no cloakroom or storage facilities. No umbrellas, alcohol, garden furniture, selfie sticks, flares, glasses or cans, among other items, will be allowed into the event.

There will be a strict no-alcohol policy on all transport and private buses travelling to the venue.

It is also important to note that the event may feature strobe lighting, lasers and pyrotechnics.

Can I take photographs at the concert?

Yes, but only with a smartphone or small camera. Professional cameras with a detachable lens and any other recording equipment are banned.

What’s the weather forecast?

At the time of writing, Friday is expected to be dry but dull, with temperatures between 14-17 degrees. As this is an outdoor event, dress appropriately and be prepared for inclement weather, but remember – no umbrellas.
