4 Categories of Disney Cruise Rooms

When you begin planning your Disney Cruise, besides choosing the date & destination of your cruise, you will need to decide on a Disney Cruise Stateroom. There are four different categories of Disney Cruise rooms (and 10 types of Staterooms) to choose from.

For first-time cruisers , it can be hard to understand the differences in the rooms.

You will want to make sure you are aware of the differences in each type so that you make sure you have enough space for those you are traveling with.

Types of Disney Cruise Rooms

While all Disney Cruise rooms are a bit different based on category & type, you will be able to find that they do have many things in common.

Interior Stateroom (Disney Cruise Room for 4)

This means that you will have no view of the ocean.

It is the smallest & most affordable of the Disney Cruise rooms.

Standard interior rooms do not have the split bathrooms that exterior staterooms have.

Interior staterooms on the Disney Dream , Fantasy and Wish have a virtual porthole which is really cool!

One of the benefits (besides price) is that interior rooms usually do not have as much sway as other rooms because of where they are located on the ship.

Another perk is that no light to wake you in the morning, so you can sleep in as long as you would like without having any natural sunlight letting you know it is morning.

Oceanview Stateroom (Disney Cruise Room for 4)

With this type of stateroom, you will have a view of the ocean, but the window will not open.

There is usually a window seat area so that you can sit & enjoy the view. There are curtains for you to close when you need to have less light or need to get some sleep.

If you tend to get seasick, having a view of the water may help curtail the symptoms as it is said to help your brain deal with balancing the equilibrium.

Verandah Stateroom (Disney Cruise Room for 4)

Not only will you have a view of the ocean, you will get a small seating area outside of the stateroom.  

We always like this room because of the “extra” outdoor square footage.

Each room has a door that can be propped open to let in fresh air.

Another perk to having a veranda room is that you can place your wet swimwear out to dry.

Family Deluxe Verandah Stateroom (Disney Cruise Room for 5)

These rooms are a bit larger and give you extra seating!

 If you choose this room, you will find that it not only features a couch (that turns into a bed), but also has a chair. The extra seating is a nice addition.

Concierge Stateroom (Disney Cruise Room for 6 or 7)

Talk about luxury. These fancy Disney Cruise line staterooms have a separate bedroom area, and private balcony with their own private lounge area that is packed with cold water and snacks.

This extra space is great for big families who aren’t easily confined to one small room.

The private lounge gives you a quiet space to get away (without having to be far from your own stateroom).

What You’ll Find in ALL Disney Cruise Staterooms:

• Split bathrooms (in most staterooms) and privacy curtains between bed & bunks
• Throw Blanket
• FREE toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash & lotion)
• Post Cards & Notepaper
• A refrigerator
• A hairdryer
• Housekeeping services twice a day (morning; typically before lunch & evening turndown service)

*When trying to determine which Disney Cruise fits in your budget, you may find that there is only a small price difference between the inside cabins and those with a balcony on the Disney Dream, Fantasy & Wish ships while a much larger price difference between that on the Magic & Wonder regardless of number of nights or destination.

This is because there are far fewer balcony rooms on the Magic and Wonder, causing them to be more expensive.

10 Things You May Want to Know About Disney Cruise Staterooms

Are you wondering what your stateroom will be like on your Disney cruise ?  What does it have, what does it not have?  I am here to help!  Here’s 10 things you may want to know.

3. Bathrooms – Maybe even more important than beds! And I have more good news. The bathrooms are great! They’re small (small rooms remember), but they’re great. On all ships, with the exception of accessible staterooms and category 8A’s on the Dream and Fantasy, everything in categories 4- 10 have split bathrooms. Split bathrooms are genius! A split bathroom means there essentially two bathrooms which is so helpful with multiple people getting ready. One has a sink and toilet, and the other has a sink and tub/shower. You heard me bath loving people, Disney has a tub in their bathrooms. On most other lines, you’ll have to get to the suites before a tub is an option. In categories 8D, 8C, 8B, 4 and V on the Dream and Fantasy, there are actually round tubs! With rainfall shower heads! The V on the Magic and Wonder, and R, S and T on all ships have a whole ‘nother level of bathrooms and tubs. The tub in the 1-bedroom suites on the Dream and Fantasy is more like a small pool.

5. Storage – For a small room, it’s surprising how much storage there is! As I mentioned above, there is a lot of space under the bed for suitcases. Then there are two closets with some built in shelves, and a set of drawers and a shelf next to the closet. There are small end table type shelves with small drawers next to the bed. There’s also some space under the desk, as well as steamer trunks in some rooms on the Wonder (though these seem to be disappearing) and a nice dresser where steamer trunks used to be in some rooms. The Dream and Fantasy also have coffee tables that open up for even more storage! And finally there’s a desk with drawers and some cabinets over that. As with some of the other items, concierge rooms have even more storage space than normal rooms.

7. Desk – You’d probably like to know what is in your desk too! There are actually some handy things. There are hair dryers in the drawers so you don’t have to bring your own! For anyone that hates the vacuum cleaner type hairdryers in the bathrooms on the Magic and Wonder, they now also have hairdryers in the desk. In one of the drawers you’ll also find stationary, postcards, a pen, and room service menus. The room service menu is hidden rather well inside the large Disney Cruise Line book. The room service menu for breakfast foods is also in the drawer, but it’s printed on some paper door hangers. If you would like room service breakfast any night but the last night, you use this order form and hang it outside your door the night before. On top of the desk you will also find your Wave Phones if you use them. Underneath one side of the desk you will also find a small refrigerator.

9. Television – There are nice televisions in all the rooms, on all the ships. Some of the concierge rooms have three! They are all similar, but they are different based on which ship you are on. On the Magic and Wonder there are several channels, a few of which have Disney movies and new(ish) releases playing all day long. There’s also a view from the bridge, and an information channel showing where you’ve been, where you’re going, what’s the weather, etc. You’ll also find some popular network channels like ESPN, CNN, the Disney Channel and ABC when they are available. On the Dream and Fantasy, the TV’s have more features added, like an excellent selection of On-Demand Movies. There’s a channel with just about every Disney or Pixar animated movie ever made, a channel with new releases (I may or may not have watched Jurassic World through about 6 times in October onboard the Dream) and a channel of classics. The beauty of On Demand is that you can start and stop the movies every time you’re in the room. I don’t think we’re doing it right if we don’t have a Disney movie (Jurassic World totally counted) playing at all times when we are in our room and awake. You can also view your bill on your TV on the Dream and Fantasy, although it’s glitchy at times.

Hi I’m taking my adult autistic daughter on a Disney Cruise soon and wondering what kind of room is the accessibility room

Accessible rooms are booked on the Disney Fantasy cruise we want to go on to celebrate a big 50th anniversary with grandchildren, etc. Are there any grab bars in the bathrooms? Especially the shower/ tubs? Do the tubs have a side on them big enough to sit then swivel into the tub? Is there a lip on the entrance to the bathroom someone could trip on? Thanks for the help.

That’s a wonderful celebration, congratulations! We did the same with my parents on the Fantasy. There are not any grab bars in the standard rooms. The side on the tub is fairly standard size, so not very big. The sides of the tubs in the staterooms with a round tub is a little wider! That would be easier to get in, but it’s not a huge side. There is a lip to get into the bathroom that you could trip on if you weren’t expecting it. One bedrooms have a huge tub with no lip to get into the bathroom if that was doable for you!

What are the dimensions of the shower/bath? We are a tall (6’4) family of 3 and my spouse has a very large shoulder width. This is our first cruise and we are thinking about a room with verandah for the extra square footage.

I don’t know the exact dimensions, but they are not huge. Having said that, they are bigger than any other standard shower on any other cruise line I’ve been on. The shower width would be big enough for most people!

A category 4D and up would give you a round tub. It’s not a huge tub, but it would give you much more shoulder room for the shower!

What is the length of the sofa bed (ie: how tall can someone be before hitting their head on the arm)?

They are fairly close to standard twin size mattress length! The couch arms would be at either end making it feel a little smaller.

Actually, my growing teenager stretched out, and slept on it without any problems…I’m thinking it may even be an extra long twin?

We are sailing on the Dream in June and have a Category 5a stateroom. No coffee maker in the stateroom, right? What is the best way to get my early morning caffeine?

That is correct, Julie, no coffee makers. Order it from room service! You could order it the night before (most people report it stays hot in the carafe they deliver it in), or have it delivered the next morning. Order it the night before with the breakfast cards in the drawer. You can pick a time (within 30 minutes) you would like it delivered. If you would like specialty coffees, you could also venture up on deck to the Cove Cafe, but that will cost a little bit.

Category 11 inside standard staterooms do NOT have a split bathroom.

I always find there are a lack of shelves. I bring a folding set of shoe shelves that I can hang in the closet. And a pop up laundry basket is really helpful for keeping your room tidy.

While all D isney Cruise Line staterooms  are designed for comfort, some are more comfortable than others and may be worth the extra expense. What is a Disney Cruise Stateroom?

• The D isney Cruise Line staterooms  will be the rooms you sleep in on board the ship. They are also referred to as cabins or rooms. But for most of the planning process and time on the ship, you will know it as a stateroom. So no matter what stateroom category you choose, your Disney Cruise Line staterooms are your home away from home while on the ship. 

What is the Best Level to Stay on a Disney Cruise?

• No matter if it’s the  best deck on Disney Wish , or any other deck on a ship in the DCL fleet, the best deck to stay on is two decks below any of the restaurants. This is typically decks 8 and 9 on most of the ships. This is typically because the restaurants that are open for breakfast start setting up before the sun rises and you can hear chairs and tables slamming on the floor, or rather your ceiling. But staying on decks 8 and 9 offers easy access to upper decks where pools and recreation are. While also just a quick trip away from lower deck theaters and the main atrium.

Important to Know : While available on all ships, the Deluxe Oceanview Verandah room is one of the best  D isney Dream cruise rooms . Like the Family Verandah, it hosts enough space for you to feel comfortable while also allowing you a private space on the side of the ship to enjoy the views and fresh sea air. Important to Know : While not much changes about These  D isney Cruise staterooms , the private balcony for these rooms can vary quite a bit. While you will still have patio furniture and a great view of the ocean, it might be reduced in size or impeded in some way. However, some cruises say it’s a great way to save a couple of bucks while still enjoying everything there is to have in a Verandah room.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Navigator’s Verandah

Price : $2,700+

Important to Know : The least expensive D isney Cruise room with a balcony , the Navigator’s Verandah is a smaller and more enclosed private verandah for you to enjoy. Like the obstructed or undersized verandah, nothing will change about the room itself. I loved my experience with the Navigator’s Verandah as it gave me more privacy when using the balcony. It also adds a sense of security since the only open space is the round port hole. My favorite aspect of this room is that it is less expensive and also has less wind making it easier to enjoy a meal on the balcony.

Oceanview Staterooms

Deluxe family oceanview stateroom.

Ships : Disney Dream, Fantasy, & Wish

Size : 237 – 241 sq. ft.

Sleeps : 3 – 5 Guests

Price : $2,900+

Important to Know : Boasting more square footage than a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom, these spacious quarters feature one large porthole as your outlook to the sea. Depending on what room you receive and on what ship, you may even have two port holes in one room! While you can sometimes find these rooms on higher decks like 8 and 9, they are mostly located lower on the ship. The majority of these rooms are located on decks 5 and 6. These D isney Cruise cabins  are ideal for families who don’t need the private verandah. The rooms are essentially the same without the balcony!

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom

Size : 204 – 218 sq. ft

Price : $2,800+

Important to Know : With the same square footage as a Deluxe Inside Stateroom, this room type includes a delightful porthole window. Be dazzled by incredible sunrises and stunning sunsets through 1 or 2 portholes, all from the plush comfort of your room. If you’re looking to go on a Disney Cruise for a discount , you’ll find comfort in the Oceanview Stateroom. This room is ideal for guests who are just using their room as a place to sleep and want to fully enjoy everything the ship has to offer. While also providing natural light and still breathtaking ocean views.

Interior Staterooms

Deluxe inside stateroom.

Size : 204 – 214 sq. ft.

Sleeps : 3 – 4

Important to Know : Available on every ship except the Disney Wish, the Deluxe Family Inside Stateroom is ideal for guests looking to use their room simply as a place to sleep and store their belongings. While this room is by no means a  luxury Disney Cruise suite , it still is donned with incredible fabrics and comfortable bedding. On Disney Dream and Fantasy, these rooms also have “Magic Portholes”. These are LED screens in the shape of a circle showing the “ocean” outside. If you keep an eye out, you’ll see some of your favorite Disney Characters float (or swim) by!

Standard Inside Stateroom

Size : 169 – 184 sq. ft.

Important to Know : The smallest of all staterooms, the Standard Inside Staterooms are the best  D isney Cruise rooms  to stay in if you’re cruising on a budget. Although small, it is the perfect size for someone sailing by themselves or with one other person. Personally, even though it technically can sleep up to 4 guests, I wouldn’t recommend this room for anyone traveling with more than 2 people total. The space, while designed usefully, is small and can feel very cramped when getting ready for dinners or other events your sailing might have.

Best Disney Cruise Rooms FAQ

Q: Which is the Best Deck to stay on a Disney Wish Cruise Ship?

A: If you’re not staying in a Concierge-level stateroom, the best deck to stay on Disney Wish  is deck 9. On this deck, you will be only 2 decks below the main dining areas and pools. You could stay on deck 10 which is directly below the main amenity deck 11. But book your room with caution! If you stay directly under high-traffic areas, there is a chance you can hear people running around or the Crew Members preparing the restaurants at odd hours. 

Q: Which side of the Disney Cruise Ship to stay on?

A: This is up to you! There is no “bad side” of a Disney ship nor does it change the price you pay. The biggest difference in what side of the ship you stay on is what view you want to have while docked at ports of call. If you want the potential to see beaches and other ships, I recommend booking a room on the starboard (right) side of the ship. But if you’d like to be able to watch people running to the ship at the very last minute, a room on the port (left) side will be best for you.

Q: What is the Best Part of the Ship to stay on Disney Wish?

A: For all cruisers, but especially if it’s your first time sailing or you are prone to seasickness, the best location on Disney Cruise ship is to stay in mid or the middle of the ship. This is where you will feel less of the ship’s movement and more stability as you sail to your destinations. However, I have stayed in both the Mid and Aft (back) of the ship and had a better experience in the back!

Q: What is the most Luxurious Stateroom in Disney  Cruise Ship?

A: By far the most luxurious stateroom on a Disney ship is the Tower Suite on the Disney Wish and soon-to-sail Disney Treasure. This stateroom is a first of its kind and is a full two-deck room in the ship’s forward tunnel. On the Disney Wish, the room is themed to the animated film Moana . While on the soon-to-sail Disney Treasure, it is going to be EPCOT-themed! This will mark the first room themed after one of the Disney Theme Parks! How do you choose a Disney cruise stateroom? If you are new to cruising it can seem overwhelming at first when you are faced with the decision of which stateroom to choose.

Our guide to Disney cruise staterooms will help you to understand your choices and make the best decision for you and your family.

The first thing to realize is that whichever Disney Cruise stateroom you choose (with the exception of concierge) you will still have the same experience on the Disney ship as everyone else.

The same access to entertainment, dining, kids clubs, and all the other magical things about a Disney cruise.

However, the price you pay can be very different depending on which Disney cruise stateroom you choose. It is really important to realize this point.

If you are fine with a Disney inside stateroom, you will still have the same experience on the Disney ship itself, as those who have paid a lot more for a verandah.

The good news is that Disney cruise lines have some of the largest and best-designed staterooms in the industry. They are up to 25% larger than average cruise line cabins.

Disney cruise staterooms really are among the nicest and the best designed sailing the seas.

You may also have heard about the ‘split’ bathroom. Most of the staterooms on Disney cruises have a bath, sink, and shower which is in a separate room from the toilet and sink. This is a great concept for families sharing.

The design of the Disney cruise staterooms is a nice mix of comfort, practicality and of course, some very special Disney touches.

What Disney Cruise Staterooms Are Available?

There Disney Wonder and Disney Magic have the same basic design, as do the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

The classic ships of the Wonder and the Magic have 877 staterooms and a maximum capacity of 2456 passengers.

The newer Disney Dream and Fantasy have 1250 staterooms and a maximum capacity of 3500 passengers.

There are some differences between the two types of ships, so we will describe each in turn with the Disney Magic and Wonder first.

Inside Staterooms On The Disney Wonder and Disney Magic

Generally speaking, prices are the lowest for inside staterooms and these make them a good budget choice.

You will still have the same overall Disney cruise experience – you will just probably want to spend less time in your stateroom than those with a verandah.

We think that this has benefits as you will spend more time using the amenities and fabulous areas on the ship.

There are 2 types of Interior Stateroom on the Wonder and Magic:

Interior Stateroom Category 11A, 11B and 11C

These sleep up to 4 and are 184 square feet. There are 160 of these Disney Cruise Staterooms available.

Wondering what the A, B, and C mean? These relate to the location on board ship – we will talk about this more later.

All of the inside and outside staterooms sleep either 3 or 4 people maximum. There is a Queen bed and a sofa bed in all staterooms.

Some also have a pull-down bed above the sofa so they can sleep 4.

These are the only staterooms which do not have the split bathroom. We have stayed in this category and found it fine as a great choice when you are on a budget.

Everything is well designed, but it is compact.

If you think you are going to spend a lot of time in your stateroom this honestly is probably not a great choice.

However, if this is the only one that fits into your budget then our opinion is go ahead and book.

You still get to enjoy everything everyone else does on the ship – you just don’t pay as much!

Deluxe Interior Stateroom Category 10A, 10B and 10C on Disney Wonder and Magic

These are larger inside staterooms at 214 square feet. They do have the split bathroom so the toilet is separate from the bath and shower room.

There are 96 Deluxe Inside Staterooms available.

Oceanview Staterooms on Disney Magic and Disney Wonder Category 9A, 9B, 9C and 9D

These are the same square footage at 214 as the Deluxe Interior Staterooms. The difference is they have a window or porthole.

Navigator Verandah Staterooms on Disney Wonder and Disney Magic Category 7A

These are very popular staterooms and are usually the first to be completely booked. This is a design unique to the Disney cruise line as it is a mix of Outside and Verandah staterooms.

The stateroom is 214 square feet and the same design as the Oceanview cabin. The difference is an enclosed balcony of 54 square feet. There is a separate sitting area that looks a lot like a balcony but it not open to the outside.

The Navigator Verandah Staterooms sleep up to 3 guests.

They are not available on the Disney Fantasy or Disney Dream.

Deluxe Verandah Staterooms on Disney Wonder and Magic Category 5A,5B,5C and 6A

These are the same design as the Oceanview and are 214 square feet, with the addition of a verandah of 54 square feet. These sleep up to 4 guests.

This is the ideal choice of many Disney cruise guests as it offers the balcony.

Disney Deluxe Family Stateroom With Verandah

These are a cruise rarity – a stateroom that sleeps 5. For most cruise lines you have to book a suite to have room for 5 but on Disney, these Verandah staterooms are great for larger families.

These Disney cruise staterooms are 250 square feet with a verandah of 54 square feet.

There is a Queen bed, sleeper sofa, and drop down above, with an additional drop-down bed that goes in front of the verandah door.

We have stayed in these staterooms multiple times and they offer great space for families of up to 5.

All of the Deluxe Family Staterooms with Verandah are on Deck 8 of the Disney Magic and Wonder and there are 80 available.

Inside Staterooms On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy

Again there are 2 different types of inside stateroom on the new ships. The great innovation on these newer ships is the Virtual Porthole in all of the inside staterooms.

The Virtual Porthole is a video screen that projects images of the outside of the ship. And if you watch carefully you may well see some Disney characters swim across the screen.

These staterooms are very popular, and often sell out more quickly than the Outside Categories.

Interior Stateroom Disney Dream and Fantasy Category 11A, 11B and 11C

These are 169 square feet and do not have the split bathroom. They have a Queen bed and sleeper sofa. Some also have the drop-down bed above the sleeper.

There are 131 interior staterooms available on Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream.

Deluxe Interior Staterooms on Disney Dream and Fantasy Category 10A

These are 204 square feet and sleep either 3 or 4. There are 19 staterooms so this Category tends to sell out quickly. These do have the split bathroom.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom on Disney Fantasy and Dream Category 9A,9B,9C and 9D

These Disney cruise staterooms are 204 square feet and have one or two small portholes. They sleep up to 4 guest and there are 91 available.

Family Oceanview Stateroom On Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream Category 8A,8B,8C and 8D

These Family Oceanview Staterooms sleep up to 5 guests and are 241 square feet. They have a Queen bed, sleeper sofa with drop-down bunk bed above, and an additional pull-down bed near the window.

These Oceanview staterooms have a large porthole window which can be used as a window seat.

There are 108 staterooms.

Deluxe Verandah Stateroom on Disney Fantasy and Dream Category 5A,5B,5C,5D,5E,6A,6B and 7A

These are the most plentiful staterooms with 499 to choose from onboard the Fantasy and Dream. They sleep up to 4 and have 203 square feet of living space and a balcony verandah of 43 square feet.

They have a Queen bed and sleeper sofa with some also having the drop-down bunk.

Family Verandah Stateroom On Disney Fantasy and Dream Category 4A,4B,4C,4D and 4E

These are 256 square feet of living space and a verandah of 43 square feet. There are 362 staterooms to choose from. They sleep up to 5 and all have a Queen bed, sleeper sofa with bunk above, and a drop-down bed near the verandah.

Concierge Staterooms On Disney Cruise Line

There are distinct differences between the classic ships the Magic and the Wonder and the newer ships the Fantasy and Dream.

The newer ships were designed to have more benefits for concierge guests than on the Wonder and Dream.

Both the Fantasy and the Dream have a concierge lounge and private deck.

The Disney Magic and Wonder do now how a concierge lounge which is converted from a former adults-only lounge.

Here are the extra benefits for Concierge Guests:

Early Embarkation . Concierge Guests are the first to board the ship. Also depending upon the cruise port of departure there may be a special Concierge waiting area or lounge in the port. Not much of a benefit except you will be assured you will actually get a chair!

Concierge Lounge This is a nice benefit on all Disney ships.

The Lounge on the Fantasy and Dream is open from 7 am to 10 pm and is always staffed by a concierge who will help you with anything you need.

There are snacks in the lounge as well – as if you don’t have enough eating options already. Alcoholic drinks are served and are complimentary at certain times. 

Concierge Guests Can Book Onboard Activities and Port Adventures Early

This can be a huge benefit for some activities which book quickly such as the cabanas on Castaway Cay. Really your only chance of getting these is if you are a concierge guest as they are in extremely high demand.

Priority Tender Boarding

This is a very nice perk with tender ports as concierge guests can have priority getting to shore on the tender boats.

The Concierge Sundeck is a very nice private area for concierge guests. It tends to be really quiet and there is never a problem getting a lounge chair.

Concierge Dining Choices are available so that you can have your meals served in your stateroom (except Category V on the new ships).

Disney Wonder and Magic Concierge Staterooms

The smallest Concierge staterooms on the Wonder and Magic are the Concierge Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah . They are 304 square feet and sleep up to 5 guests.

They are all on Deck 8 and are identical in size and configuration to the Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah which can be found on the same deck.

They have upgraded bedding and amenities. They were upgraded when the Concierge Lounges were added to the Classic Ships.

There are One Bedroom Suites that sleep up to 5 guests in 614 square feet of space. there are 18 of these on the Wonder and Magic.

Also available on the classic ships are Two Bedroom Staterooms with 945 square feet of space and sleeping up to 7 guests.

For the ultimate in luxury and space, guests can enjoy the Walt Disney or the Roy Disney Royal Suites . At 1029 square feet you have enough room for 7 guests.

Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream Concierge Staterooms

There are more concierge staterooms available on the new Fantasy and Dream than there are on the classic ships.

Disney realized the high demand and designed the new ships to accommodate more guests in concierge with better facilities.

Concierge Family Verandah Stateroom Disney Fantasy and Dream Category V

There are 20 Concierge Family Verandah Staterooms to choose from and each are 263 square feet with a 43 square foot balcony.

The basic design is the same as the Family Verandah Staterooms but with upgraded furnishings and bedding and of course access to concierge facilities.

These staterooms sleep up to 5.

Concierge One Bedroom Suite Stateroom on Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream Category T

There are 19 One Bedroom Suite Staterooms with 536 square feet of space and 86 square foot verandah.

There is a Queen size bed in the bedroom and a double sofa bed in the living area. There is also a single pull down wall bed in the living area.

The living area has a dining table and you can order from the dining room menus.

Concierge Royal Suite Stateroom on Disney Dream and Fantasy Category R

These are the most luxurious suites on the Disney ships and there are only 2 of them. They usually book on day one when booking opens.

The Suites sleep up to 5 guests in 898 square feet of space with an additional 883 square feet of the wrap-around curved verandah.

There is a master bedroom with a Queen bed. There is a pull-down wall double sofa bed and a pull-down single bed in the living area.

If you want the ultimate in luxury and have no budget considerations then this is the one for you!

Which Deck Is The Best on the Disney Fantasy and Dream?

This is a question which people spend a lot of time over but really it isn’t that big of a deal. The lower the deck the cheaper the price is the usual idea.

There can be hundreds of dollars difference between the same design stateroom if one is on a higher deck.

We have sailed on many of the decks and decided it really does not make any difference to your enjoyment of your cruise.

The advantage of the lower decks is they are nearer to restaurants, shopping, and the theatre.

The higher decks are closer to the pools, the spa and the adult areas – and of course the buffet.

The general idea of cruise ships is that the lower, midship rooms are more stable so if you think seasickness may be an issue .

But we have sailed on rough seas on the Disney Wonder on Deck 8 and really not been affected at all. This just depends on your personal preference.

Another consideration is what is above your stateroom. In our opinion, this doesn’t matter that much on the Disney ships.

We have sailed on Deck 8 of the Disney Wonder many times and it is true that you can hear some activity, sometimes, on the pool deck above.

But we have never found it loud enough to be a problem.

Do You Really Need A Balcony Stateroom?

The simple fact is that balcony staterooms cost more than inside or outside ones. The difference can be quite considerable.

If you can afford it then definitely choose the verandah stateroom.

It is nice to sit outside on your own balcony overlooking the ocean or getting excited about your port arrival. On cruises to Alaska, Europe and The Panama Canal a balcony is particularly nice.

But if the choice is a balcony cabin or waiting to book the Disney cruise because you need to save up more, then I would choose an inside stateroom and go on a cruise!

Where Are The Disney Cruise Staterooms To Avoid?

This is always a big question for anyone going on a Disney cruise. If you start to research this there are a lot of opinions about things to avoid.

Most people say to avoid staterooms under the pool deck – but our experience on Disney ships is that this really isn’t good advice.

We have stayed many times on Deck 8 of the classic ships and have experienced only very occasional noise from the pool deck above.

If you are still concerned about this then avoid the lowest decks because of possible noise from the anchor when arriving at tender ports (so likely to happen only once on your cruise) or engine noise.

We have never experienced this but have read many reviews and some guests do seem to experience it.

Really there aren’t any bad staterooms. One of our most enjoyable Disney cruises was when staying on Deck 2 in one of the least cost staterooms available.

We heard no noise, felt no motion, and had a great time.

What About Single Travelers On A Disney Cruise?

There are certainly many people who travel on Disney cruises as singles. Unfortunately, they will pay as much for a stateroom as 2 guests though – Disney does not give a price concession to singles.

There are sometimes singles lunch events on Sea Days but Disney is not concentrating on the single market.

We would love to see more encouragement of single cruisers but for the moment we guess that Disney really doesn’t need to pursue this market.

How much does a Disney cruise really cost?

With everything that's included on the sailings, you might be wondering how much a Disney cruise costs — and if you can afford one.

Cruises with Mickey Mouse and his pals range in price depending on many factors such as the embarkation port and destination, departure date, length of the cruise and cabin type you book. No matter which cruise you book, it will be pricey, like any Disney vacation. You'll have to determine what value you put on experiencing the "magic" of Disney.

To me, it's worth a lot. I've experienced all five ships in the Disney fleet and have sailed seven times to destinations around the Caribbean and the Mediterranean .

Here, I'm sharing how much a Disney cruise costs per ship and itinerary, any extras that are worth the additional fees and how to save money on a Disney cruise.

How much does it cost to go on a Disney cruise?

Let's be honest: A cruise on any Disney ship isn't cheap. Factors like cabin type and category, sail date, destination, length of cruise, traveling party size and if you're on a themed cruise can impact the overall cost. If you're trying to keep your costs lower, your best option is to pick a cruise on an older ship (Disney Wonder, Disney Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy) or pick a shorter cruise length.

The cheapest Disney cruise we found cost $1,000 for an inside cabin for two people on a two-night sailing on Disney Wonder in Australia. That's $250 per person per night.

If you're looking for a cheap Caribbean or Bahamian sailing, consider a three-night Bahamas cruise on Disney Magic starting at $1,500 for an inside cabin for two people. This also equates to $250 per person per day. Add in drinks, specialty dining, souvenirs and other expenses, and you can expect to spend around $2,500 in total.

On a recent sailing on the Disney Dream , my family of three and I spent five nights at sea in a balcony room and paid a grand total of $4,514.06. This total included everything from the cruise fare and pre-night hotel stay to parking and spa services.

Some examples of starting prices for each ship and its major itineraries for an inside cabin or a balcony cabin are listed below so you can get a sense of pricing across the fleet. Prices are based on double occupancy.

Disney Magic

One- to three-night Bahamas: inside cabins, $1,500 to $2,500; balcony cabins, $1,900 to $3,300 Four-night Caribbean and Bahamas: inside cabins, $1,800 to $3,200; balcony cabins, $2,300 to $4,000 Five- to six-night Caribbean and Bahamas: inside cabins, $2,200 to $4,400; balcony cabins, $3,000 to $6,600 Seven-night Caribbean: inside cabins, $2,700 to $3,300; balcony cabins, $3,800 to $4,900

Where do Disney cruises sail from?

Disney Cruises depart from 15 different ports around the world, but the major ones to think about from the U.S. include:

• Fort Lauderdale
• Port Canaveral, Florida
• Galveston, Texas
• New Orleans

The major international ports Disney Cruise Line sets sail from include:

• Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
• Melbourne, Australia
• Southampton, England
• Brisbane, Australia
• Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada

Depending on the cruise you pick, getting to and from the home port can be easy or take a little longer — and that can impact the total cost of your Disney cruise.

For instance, many people drive to Fort Lauderdale or Port Canaveral if they already live in the southern U.S. Driving can save money versus flying, and you might not have to stay in a pre-cruise hotel if you can drive right to the port.

You will have to pay to park at the port or at a third-party parking lot. While the off-site parking lots are often cheaper, you will need to think about how to get to and from the ship, tipping the porter or driver, plus the added time to get from your car to the ship.

On the other hand, if you are taking a cruise from an international destination or flying to a domestic home port, your costs automatically go up because of flights for your family, a pre-cruise hotel, meals before the sailing, and transportation to the ship and back to the airport.

What's included in the price of a Disney cruise?

You might pay a lot for a Disney cruise, but you get a lot for your money. The cost of a Disney cruise covers your onboard dining and most nonalcoholic drinks, an abundance of entertainment for kids and adults, onboard activities and transportation between cruise ports. Even most entertainment and food on Disney's private island Castaway Cay (and upcoming private island destination Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point) is part of the fare.

Entertainment

Most of the entertainment on board is included in the overall cost of your sailing. On your cruise, you can experience Broadway-quality shows inside the Walt Disney Theater, watch first-run movies from Disney's production companies (like Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars), listen to live music and participate in game shows in the adults-only lounges. Most itineraries feature a deck party with a fireworks show.

Kids can meet and play with their favorite Disney characters and participate in activities like karaoke. Family-friendly sun decks with pools, waterslides, splash zones and wading pools are also included in the cost.

Disney Cruise Line is known for its rotational dining evening dinner service. Families rotate through three onboard restaurants throughout the sailing, and your service team moves with you. Each of the rotational dining options is included in your cruise fare. One of the restaurants will be open for drop-in, sit-down meals during breakfast and lunch as well. Complimentary room service is available 24 hours a day.

On the upper decks, quick-service food stations, soft-serve ice cream and a buffet are available. Every Disney cruise also includes unlimited coffee, tea and soda.

Accommodations

Almost every cabin across the Disney fleet features Disney's distinctive split bathroom concept. One of the bathrooms has a vanity, sink and tub-shower, plus another bathroom with a vanity, sink and toilet. Each room also has a small refrigerator, safe and hair dryer.

Every child ages 3 to 17 will have access to Disney's kids clubs on board. Youngsters ages 3-10 can enjoy Disney's Oceaneer Club and Disney's Oceaneer Lab . Tweens ages 11-14 have access to Edge, and teens ages 14-17 can chill out in Vibe.

Each kids club has dedicated counselors and a host of activities every day. The best way to see the list of activities is to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and scroll through the daily agenda. You can flag activities your kids want to attend, so you can get to the kids clubs before they start.

Adult-exclusive activities

Disney cruises are packed with family-friendly programming, but adults can find spaces and events geared just for them in the adult-only nightclubs and lounges on board. Live music, interactive games and shows are only some of the nightly activities.

Additionally, adults have a dedicated pool and hot tub area that includes a bar and coffee shop. (Drinks cost extra, but access is free). For those looking to stay fit while onboard, access to the fitness center is also included.

Castaway Cay

On most Bahamas and Caribbean sailings, you'll stop at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay . At the island, your family can enjoy the family beach or adult-exclusive beach (for those 18 and older).

Use of towels, beach chairs and shade umbrellas are complimentary, as are waterslides and splash zones. Live music and character appearances take place around the island. Kids and teen club activities are available on Castaway Cay — again, at no extra charge. Runners can participate in the Castaway Cay 5K and get a finisher medal.

When it's time to eat, three spots serve an included barbecue lunch, complete with soft-serve ice cream. Coffee, tea and fountain drinks are also included at Castaway Cay.

To get around the island, you can walk or use the complimentary trams.

Are there any extra Disney costs?

Even though many activities, dining options and entertainment are included in the cost of your cruise, you will find things to pay extra for on a Disney cruise. These may or may not be worth it for your family, depending on your budget and interests. Below is a list of things not included in your overall cruise fare.

Some of the cutest Disney activities are also ones that cost extra. Kids who want more time with the Disney characters might be interested in the Royal Court Royal Tea — a tea party with characters for kids ages 3 to 12. According to planDisney (Disney's online resource for vacation-planning tips) , the cost is $220 per child and $69 for anyone 13 and up. Each tea party includes a selection of tea and a two-course meal; every child gets an assortment of gifts.

Kids can also play dress-up and get a full regal or pirate (only available on Pirate Party Nights) makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, found on every Disney ship. Depending on the package you booked for your child, expect to pay $100 to $450 for each makeover.

Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy both have a virtual sports simulator that requires a reservation and a fee. You can play various sports, from football to golf, for either 30- or 60-minute time blocks. Cost varies based on time, sport and number of people playing.

Specialty dining and cocktails

Four specialty dining restaurants are offered across the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Exclusive to Disney Wish (and coming soon to Disney Treasure ) are Enchante and Palo Steakhouse. Expect to pay $60 to $205 plus an 18% auto-gratuity for a meal at Enchante; Palo Steakhouse is $50 for a prix-fixe meal, but an a la carte menu is also available.

On the four other Disney Cruise Line ships, Palo is also $50 for prix-fixe and offers an a la carte menu. An 18% auto-gratuity is also tacked onto your bill.

On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, Remy is also available, with the dessert experience starting at $65 without the 18% auto-gratuity, while brunch and dinner are $80 and $135 respectively, plus an additional 18% auto-gratuity.

On all ships, themed bars and lounges sling drinks. Because there's no drink package available through Disney Cruise Line, you will have to pay for each drink individually. The planDisney panel says the average drink can range from $6 to $20.

If you're looking for specialty coffee, tea or hot chocolate drinks, look for the Cove Cafe on all ships; there are also specialty counters off of the atrium on Disney Dream, Fantasy and Wish. These drinks cost anywhere from $5 to $8, depending on your order. You can also order alcoholic drinks from the coffee bars, which run the typical cocktail prices.

Outside the Walt Disney Theater or near the movie theaters on board each ship, you'll also smell the buttery goodness of freshly popped popcorn. You can buy the popcorn for an added fee to take into the shows with you. Additionally, there are some specialty popcorn buckets available for purchase on each ship; you can refill them for a discounted price every time you want to munch on the salty snack. (Specialty buckets purchased off the ships at a Disney resort or theme park are not eligible for a discounted popcorn refill.)

Additionally, each ship offers beverage-tasting seminars where you can learn how to make and taste a variety of cocktails in a given category. Seminars can range from $40 to $70 and last about an hour.

While crew gratuities on Disney Cruise Line are not included in the overall cost, some can be prepaid before you step onboard. These include gratuities to your dining room server, assistant server and head server, plus your cabin host. Disney recommends a gratuity of $14.50 per night per person, including infants and children in regular cabins. It's recommended that those in concierge cabins and suites pay $15.50, with the extra going to your cabin assistant host.

Gratuities that are not included can be paid on board. Such gratuities include anything extra you would like to give to your service team, tips on alcoholic beverages in the dining room, adult dining locations, room service and the spa. The concierge lounge team is also not included in prepaid gratuities for concierge guests, and Disney recommends $8 per night per guest.

Keep in mind that an 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar tabs across the ship and for spa services. To make it easy while on the ship, you can charge all your gratuities to your onboard account.

If you want to bring something home from your trip — whether from a port of call or from the onboard shops — you'll want to budget for that extra cost. Souvenirs off the ship can range from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars, depending on what you buy. Be prepared that some shops will only take local currency; purchases at Castaway Cay shops will be charged to your onboard account.

On the ship, easy-to-transport souvenirs included trading pins, magnets and apparel. These can range anywhere from $20 to $75. Other more expensive onboard souvenirs include jewelry, luxury brand purses and wallets, and art.

How do I save money on a Disney cruise?

If you're reeling from sticker shock, know you can find many ways to save money on a Disney cruise. Here are a few of my favorite money-saving tips.

Letting Disney choose your cabin can be a great way to get a deal on the cruise. These are known as guaranteed rates, and they are the cheapest fares in each category. All you have to do is pick your room type, such as inside, ocean view or balcony, and Disney picks which specific room number you get. This works best if you don't care where your room is on the ship.

If you're looking for a room upgrade , but that's not a make-it-or-break-it deal for your family, consider waiting to upgrade your room until you get to the port. If your cruise still has rooms available, you can ask at check-in about a room upgrade for a discount. The cost will be relative to the room type you originally booked and the room type you want to upgrade to. Sometimes, you can even upgrade to a concierge room or a suite, but you will need to get an early port arrival time to potentially score one of those upgrades.

Disney Cruise Line has one of the most generous alcohol policies of any big-ship cruise brand. At the start of your cruise, you can bring up to six cans of beer or two bottles of wine per person over 21 years old. Then, at each port, you can restock and bring the same alcohol allotment per person over 21 onto the ship to store in your room and enjoy. You might find that beer and wine are cheaper in port than on board — a smart way to save on your drinking expenses.

Are Disney cruises cheaper or more expensive than other cruise lines?

Other family-friendly cruise brands include Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises. While all of the family-friendly brands have pros and cons, picking the right one for your family can come down to a matter of cost. Disney is almost always the most expensive.

For example, we priced out a three-night weekend cruise departing on the same dates for Disney Wish and Royal Caribbean 's soon-to-debut Utopia of the Seas. We found that Disney was almost $500 more expensive for the same weekend, cabin type and length of sailing. Utopia of the Seas came out to $2,850.10 for two people staying in a balcony cabin, while the Disney Wish cruise, also in a balcony room, cost $3,337.20.

What Disney does best — and why many people choose to cruise with the brand — is it provides a high level of service to families, even those in the least expensive cabins. The crew on Disney ships goes above and beyond to make your vacation easy. I've seen everything from dining staff cutting kids' food and taking children to the bathroom to room hosts ensuring parents know about the parental locks on balcony doors (so kids can't just wander outside without an adult).

The extra amenities that Disney offers — such as Broadway-quality shows, character experiences and larger standard cabins — all bring the overall cruise cost up.

Disney also has a smaller fleet than all its family-friendly competitors, meaning there is less cabin inventory to sell. Plus, its ships generally carry fewer passengers. For example, Disney Wish, Disney's biggest ship, carries 4,000 people at full capacity; Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas can carry 7,600 guests at capacity. The low inventory combined with the high demand for Disney cruises means that Disney can charge higher fares and still fill ships.

Bottom line

Cruise fares with Disney can change based on factors like room type, travel party size and sailing date. The minimum price you can expect to pay for a cruise to the Caribbean or Bahamas starts at $1,500 for an inside cabin for two people on Disney Magic.

Disney Cruise Line includes a variety of dining experiences (including room service), soda, character meet-and-greets and Broadway-caliber entertainment in its fares; it also allows passengers to bring alcohol on board in every port of call. For these reasons, you don't necessarily have to spend much on board to have a fantastic vacation. The cruise can be a good value depending on the extras you choose to add.

The real question is whether you want to spend more on the base cruise fare to immerse yourself in the world of Disney versus paying less for another family-friendly cruise line.

I've Been on 7 Disney Cruises, Here Are the Best Things for Adults to Do Onboard

• I’ve been on seven Disney cruises and have sailed on all five Disney cruise ships.
• You might be surprised to learn there are a ton of adults-only spaces and activities onboard and during shore excursions.
• I’ve discovered that even adults traveling without kids can have a great time on a Disney cruise.

Disney Cruise Line vacations are one of my favorite ways to travel. I’ve been on seven sailings with Disney and have been lucky enough to cruise on all five ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Even though Disney is known for its family-friendly cruises where kids are allowed to be almost anywhere, there are some secluded spots on Disney’s cruise ships where children are strictly not allowed.

If you’re sailing with kids, the line’s kids club (called the Oceaneer Club) is available on every ship in the fleet and is a fun place for them to hang out under supervision while you enjoy an adults-only experience. But with so many adult-centric spaces and activities onboard and on land, you may want to consider booking a Disney Cruise without kids too. Here are my favorite things to do and places to be on a Disney Cruise for adults.

Indulge in a Spa Day at Senses Spa and Salon

The spa is a quiet oasis on every Disney cruise ship where you can truly sit back and relax without a care in the world. DCL’s Senses Spa and Salon offers everything from couples massages to facials and body wraps.

One of my favorite hidden gems of the spa is the Rainforest Room. This area is available in every Senses Spa fleet-wide and you can book a pass for the day or for the length of your cruise. I always book a length-of-cruise pass because it allows me to come and go from the spa at my leisure, and I’ve found that I go for at least an hour every day of the sailing, even on port days. Passes do fill up quickly, so try to get to the spa the moment you get onto the ship to ensure you get the pass that you want.

The Rainforest Room features a series of showers that have different water pressure, temperature, and lighting effects, plus sound and smell to give you the sense of being in an actual rainforest. There are also saunas and heated tile loungers. On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder , the Rainforest Room is fully enclosed with no view of the ocean. On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy , the space has a wall of windows that look out to the ocean near the heated loungers, plus two dipping pools. If you’re sailing on the Disney Wish , the Rainforest Room also has a private outdoor space with hot tubs, swings, and loungers—and an ice room so you can feel like Elsa singing “Let It Go.”

Dining Experiences on Disney Cruises for Adults

If you’re 18 or older and looking to get away from the main dining rooms for a date night or other special occasion, you can make a reservation at one of the four adult-exclusive dining options on your Disney Cruise ship. 

On the Disney Magic , Disney Wonder , Disney Dream , and Disney Fantasy , Palo is an adults-only restaurant specializing in Northern Italian dishes. Dinner at Palo is a treat for pasta lovers, with dishes like potato gnocchi, penne arrabbiata, and butternut agnolotti.

NO KIDS ALLOWED: What You Need to Know Before Setting Sail on Virgin Voyages’s Adults-Only Cruises  

My favorite meal at Palo is brunch, which is an impressive a la carte menu, but you can order as much as you want from the menu. Highlights of the meal for me include the wood-fired pizzas, house-made lasagna and chicken parmesan, and the wide range of desserts. Brunch is typically only served on sea days on the ships, so be sure to plan accordingly. You can book brunch through the Disney Cruise Line app before your sailing, or head straight to the restaurant when you get onto the ship to see if there’s any availability. 

Remy is the second adults-only dining option on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy . The French restaurant is inspired by the movie Ratatouille and features a menu created by Lallement of Enchanté and Chef Scott Hunnel from Walt Disney World’s Victoria and Albert’s restaurant. After dining here on a recent cruise, I can say that Remy is worth the cost. 

SET SAIL: 7 Best Disney Cruises for Families in 2024  

Dinner starts out with a complimentary champagne cocktail called “Collette” after the female chef in Ratatouille . The restaurant has a seasonally rotating menu with ingredients from around the world, so adventurous eaters will be delighted to sample things they may not have tried before. Remy also offers a five-course dessert experience and a champagne brunch on sailings that are four nights or longer. 

On the Disney Wish

If you’re sailing on the Disney Wish , you have the option of booking Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement , which is inspired by the Disney animated movie Beauty and the Beast . The French-inspired menu is a feast for the senses. If you can’t get in for dinner, you can also try booking the Champagne brunch (which is a prix fixe meal) or a five-course dessert menu. 

Alternatively on the Disney Wish , you can try Palo Steakhouse , which is a new take on Disney’s signature adults-only Italian Restaurant Palo. Inside the steakhouse, you can choose from incredible Italian dishes and prime cuts of steak, including Japanese Miyazaki beef. Palo Steakhouse also offers a decadent brunch menu.

Some of the family-friendly rotational dining restaurants on the Disney Wish are perfectly suited to adult sensibilities as well. The dining room in 1923 serves up sensational California-inspired dishes in an elegant atmosphere, for example, and Worlds of Marvel is huge fun for super hero fans of all ages.

Bar Hopping During the Day or at Night

Craft cocktail fans, be sure to take time to try out all of the bars on Disney Cruise Line. Each one has a fun theme, and even though during the day they are used for family activities, after dark each space is adults-only. Each ship also hosts a variety of daytime cocktail classes that you can book, which is a great way to try a few drinks and learn a bit about bartending.

Disney Magic Bars

One of the newest spaces on the Disney Magic is Soul Cat Lounge , which is themed after the New York City jazz club from the Disney movie Soul . Inside, live music plays and there’s a small dance floor for those who want to feel the rhythm. The bar is known for its city-inspired cocktails like Manhattans and martinis.

Other bars on the Disney Magic include Fathoms , which is where you’ll find all of the adults-only games and activities at night; Keys , which is the piano bar; and O’Gills Pub , where sports play during the day and beer and Irish whisky is served late into the night. 

Disney Wonder Bars

If you’re sailing on the Disney Wonder then you’re privy to four adult-exclusive bars once the sun goes down. The French Quarter Lounge is themed after The Princess and The Frog and has a fun Mardi Gras vibe. The Crown and Fin Pub is where you should go for live sports and live music. For drinks with a show, head to the Cadillac Lounge , where you can sip on cocktails while singing along to iconic songs played by a live pianist. Azure is where most of the fun takes place each night with game shows and dancing into the wee hours of the morning.

Disney Dream Bars

The Disney Dream is my favorite and probably the best Disney cruise ship for adults (in my opinion) because its overall feel is perfect for me and my family. The ship has an entire adults-only bar area called The District, where there are five lounges and nightclubs: Pub 687 , District Lounge , Evolution , Pink: Wine and Champagne Bar , and Skyline . Of these bars, Skyline is my top pick because every few minutes the large “window” shows off a new destination city like New York, Hong Kong, and London.

If I really want to get away from everything, I head up to Meridian , the adults-only bar between Remy and Palo. Here, craft cocktails are expertly mixed, and a great view of the ocean wake is always on deck. There are also two outdoor patios on either side of the bar where you can enjoy your drink in complete peace. 

Disney Fantasy Bars

Similar to the Disney Dream , Disney Fantasy has an enclosed adults-only district where multiple bars and lounges can be found. During the day, this space is used for family-friendly trivia and games, but at night crew checks to be sure there are no kids running around. The Disney Fantasy also features Meridian, so be sure to check it out between Palo and Remy.

Disney Wish Bars

The Disney Wish doesn’t have all of its adults-only bars clustered together like the other four Disney Cruise Line ships, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less fun to bar-hop. Keg and Compass is the sports bar onboard and The Bayou is known for its live music. And Star Wars fans are going to want to get reservations for Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge , where intergalactic drinks and otherworldly oddities are found. My favorite bar on the Disney Wish is Nightingale’s , which is themed after Cinderella , hosts nightly piano sing-a-longs, and has drinks to please just about everyone in your family.

Pools on Disney Cruises for Adults

Each of the Disney cruise ships has an adults-only pool area. On the Disney Wish , the adults-only area features the cruise line’s first infinity pool. On the Disney Dream and Fantasy , the Quiet Cove Pool is a large pool with a swim-up bar and a whirlpool spa; there’s also separate wading pool where adults can enjoy the water, sunshine, and sounds of the ocean going by on deck 13. If you’re sailing on the Disney Magic or Disney Wonder , the Quiet Cove Pool has a large pool plus two whirlpool spas. 

Adults-Only Port Adventures

You’re in luck if you plan on getting off of the cruise ship at any of its ports of call because there are some adults-only port adventures (what Disney calls excursions) to try. For example, in Antigua you can take a three-and-a-half-hour tour of the island where you’ll see local villages and the only working Georgian dockyard in the world, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Alaska, you can take a ride through Victoria, British Columbia , to see the Empress Hotel, Antique Row, and more, plus enjoy afternoon tea at the Empress Hotel. 

Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay

If your cruise includes a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay , you can take the tram over to Serenity Bay. This adults-only beach has everything for a perfect beach day, from chairs and umbrellas to hammocks and a bar. Serenity Bay is also home to its own BBQ lunch spot, so you don’t have to walk to Cookies (on the kid-friendly side of the island) to have a meal.

The Disney Destiny will sail its maiden voyage from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on  Nov. 20, 2025 .
