Four-time EMMY® winner Derek Hough announced today the 2024 dates for his Derek Hough Symphony of Dance Tour.  The 26-city cross country tour resumes April 16 in Tampa (FL) and concludes on May 19 in San Diego with stops in cities such as Orlando, Richmond, San Antonio, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.

From the mind of Derek Hough, Symphony of Dance is the first-national tour for the performing dynamo in four years following the sold-out successes of Derek Hough Live: The Tour, and Move Live on Tour and Move – Beyond – Live on Tour.  The show features high-energy choreography, stunning stage production, astounding versatility and Derek’s magnetic stage presence.  Fans will journey through a fusion of dance and music, as Derek explores styles ranging from ballroom and tap to salsa and hip-hop and everything in between.  Creative team and two-time EMMY® winners, Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo, also known as NappyTabs (Jennifer Lopez’s ‘All I Have’, Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour, GRAMMYs® creative direction), co-create, direct and supervise choreography for the tour.

All tickets previously purchased for the original dates will remain valid for the rescheduled shows. Presales for new dates and on sales for rescheduled dates start 12pm local time on February 14, with general on sale for the new dates in most markets following on Friday, February 16, at 10am local at www.derekhough.com . Emmy Award winning and New York Times Best-Selling author Derek Hough started dancing in his hometown of Salt Lake City, UT, at age 11. Just one year later, he moved to London to live and train with the top dance coaches in the world and attend the prestigious Italia Conti performing arts school where he studied theatre, music, and dance.

As a three-time Emmy Award winner and twelve-time nominee, Hough is the most nominated male choreographer in Television Academy history.  Hough has also appeared in film, television, and stage projects as an actor.  He made his feature film debut for director Duane Adler and producer Robert Cort in the feature film Make Your Move and had a recurring role on the ABC series Nashville and in High School Musical The Musical for Disney+ .  His stage performances include Radio City Music Hall’s Spring Spectacular co-starring alongside the Tony Award winning Laura Benanti and the critically acclaimed production of Footloose in which he starred as the male lead in London’s West End.  In December of 2016, Hough starred with Jennifer Hudson, Ariana Grande, Martin Short and Harvey Fierstein in NBC’s Hairspray Live!

In 2020, Hough joined the hit ABC series Dancing with the Stars as part of the judging panel alongside Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Toniolo.  A multi-talented entertainer and the only six-time champion in franchise history, Hough had previously performed on the show as a pro-dancer.  His mirror ball wins came with celebrity partners that included Brooke Burke, Jennie Garth, Ricki Lake, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Grey, Kellie Pickler, Amber Riley, Amy Purdy and Bindi Irwin.

In May of 2017, Hough joined Jennifer Lopez and Ne-Yo at the judges table for the NBC series World of Dance .  The show, which he was part of for 4 seasons, launched as the highest rated summer show in over ten years and was unparalleled dance competition that featured solo artists competing against duos and crews in all genres of dance, including hip hop, tap, ballet, break dancing, ballroom, and more competing for a million-dollar prize.

Hough can also add best-selling author to his list of credits.  His memoir Taking the Lead; Lessons from a Life in Motion  hit stands in August of 2014 and rapidly was named to the prestigious New York Times Best-Seller list during two non-consecutive time periods, a rare feat.

Hough completed his first solo national tour, Derek Hough Live: The Tour in 2019 during which he performed in nearly 60 cities around the country. Prior to that, Hough and his sister Julianne teamed for a live stage dance concert MOVE Live on Tour performing in 50 cities around the country, in 2015 they toured again selling out scores of venues on their 47-city outing.  In 2017 they again performed a sold-out tour of 48 cities around the United States with their show Move – Beyond – Live on Tour .

In 2021 and 2022, Hough headlined his residency Derek Hough: No Limit in the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas, Nevada.  The critically acclaimed dance-centric show at the Venetian Resort takes fans on a journey through a true fusion of dance and music, as Hough explores styles ranging from ballroom and tap to salsa, hip-hop and everything in between.

Hayley Erbert is returning to the dance floor after a trying health battle. The 29-year-old dancer and wife of Derek Hough will waltz together again on the Symphony of Dance Tour following her traumatic brain injury and subsequent surgeries. 

"I am so excited to announce that I have been cleared to rejoin the Symphony of Dance Tour and I will be dancing when the tour begins on April 14," Hayley shared on Friday's Good Morning America .

A smiling Derek added, "We cannot wait to dance together again on stage and be back with all our fans and thank them, thank you all for the amazing support that you have shown during this time."

"What a blessing (and surprise) it is to be able to be back on stage dancing with my love after such a crazy past four months," Hayley captioned an Instagram video. "My healing journey has been nothing short of extraordinary and being able to dance again is igniting my soul in all the ways; speeding up my recovery even more. I am so appreciative of the doctors who have supported me in my decision to dance again and my team of specialists that have been assembled to assure that my health and safety is priority. I cannot wait for you all to see this show! It was so meaningful when we opened last year and now, after everything that has happened, it is truly even more special. 🤍"

Hayley was  rushed to the hospital  on Dec. 6 after she became "disoriented" during a performance on the couple's tour stop in Washington, D.C. She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel, which required an emergency craniectomy. That injury ultimately led to another  invasive and painful surgery , which replaced  a large portion of her skull .

Derek paused the dance tour in the wake of his wife's struggles, and shared with ET in February that he initially wasn't sure whether Hayley would be able to return to the dance floor. 

"She's doing amazing," he told ET at the time. "She really is. I can't say enough, I really can't, how inspiring she is."

He added, "She's doing better each day. There are still some things we need to sort out, but even now, when I look back at where we were just a couple of months ago to where she is now, it's miraculous. It really is."

Prior to the couple's announcement, Derek told ET of the upcoming return to the tour, "Her presence will always be there. We're not really there yet to see what the involvement is physically, but yeah, she's always there." 

As for what Derek is most looking forward to when the show returns, the 38-year-old  Dancing With the Stars judge previously said, "I just love it. I love seeing people face to face. I love giving them big hugs and dancing with them and answering their questions. I feel like even that was really helpful during this whole process."

Hayley Erbert announced Friday that she will be rejoining husband Derek Hough on their “ Symphony of Dance ” tour. She is returning just four months after an emergency craniectomy.

The tour will resume April 14 in Melbourne, Fla. “I am just so excited to get back out and dance again after having something so traumatic happen,” Erbert said in People .

Hough is being cautious. “We’ve had extensive conversations and tests and results from different doctors,” Hough said. “Every kind of doctor that you can think about, from our original surgeon who did the surgeries to new people in our lives and they are very supportive.

“She’s all clear and we’re all just amazed by her and can’t wait to go out there and put on a great show,” he added.

Erbert was stricken in December 2023 after the couple’s tour performance in Washington D.C. She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel after she had become disoriented.

Erbert underwent a cranioplasty surgery to replace a portion of her skull.

Hough, who postponed tour dates after his wife’s surgery, announced the rescheduled dates in February, though without a commitment that Erbert was set to rejoin him.

Dance icon Derek Hough has officially returned to the national stage with his dazzling Symphony of Dance tour. This tour promises a fusion of music and dance that will mesmerize audiences. Hough recently posted a video showing the trio in a studio experimenting with tunes and sounds. The video received praise from fans of the DWTS judge as well as the retired pro dancer, Ballas.

Hough’s meticulous preparation for the tour began with the re-recording of the music from scratch. The setup featured a recording studio filled with high-quality instruments, demonstrating Hough’s commitment to creating a mesmerizing soundscape.

Derek Hough 'Symphony of Dance' Tour Dates Announced Following Successful String of Shows

Derek Hough is dancing his way throughout the United States as it was announced that he would be embarking on his fourth music and dance tour. Titled "Symphony of Dance," the national tour will see the Emmy-winning dancer and singer on his ambitious 56-date tour in the country.

According to a press release , Hough will be doing what he does best - blending music and dance in a "high-energy choreography, stunning stage production, and astounding versatility. As always, the beloved dancer's magnetic stage presence will be there.

He will journey through a "true fusion" of dance and music - exploring realms of ballroom, tap dance, salsa, hip-hop, and everything in between. Unbeknownst to many, Hough is also a great singer, apart from being gifted with two great dancing feet!

Hough famously played Corny Collins on "Hairspray: Live!" on NBC along with Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, and Kristin Chenoweth, among many others. He also appeared in "Footloose: The Musical" in a West End staging at the Novello Theatre in England. Growing up, he also has an extensive background in playing instruments such as the piano, drums, guitar, and bass.

Hayley Erbert Returning to Husband Derek Hough’s ‘Symphony of Dance’ Tour 4 Months After Surgery

Hayley Erbert is returning to the Symphony of Dance tour with her husband, Derek Hough , four months after her emergency brain surgery.

Erbert, 29, told Good Morning America on Friday, April 5, that she’s “so excited to announce that I have been cleared to rejoin the Symphony of Dance tour and I will be dancing when the tour begins on April 14 in Melbourne, Florida.”

Hough, 38, also celebrated his wife’s return. “We cannot wait to dance together again on stage and be back with all of our fans,” he added. “Thank you for all the amazing support that you have shown during this time. So we cannot wait and see you very, very soon.”

Following the official announcement, Erbert took to social media to share more insight with fans.

“What a blessing (and surprise) it is to be able to be back on stage dancing with my love after such a crazy past four months,” Erbert wrote via Instagram . “My healing journey has been nothing short of extraordinary and being able to dance again is igniting my soul in all the ways; speeding up my recovery even more.”

Erbert continued: “I am so appreciative of the doctors who have supported me in my decision to dance again and my team of specialists that have been assembled to assure that my health and safety is [the] priority. I cannot wait for you all to see this show! It was so meaningful when we opened last year and now, after everything that has happened, it is truly even more special. 🤍”

In December 2023, Hough announced that his wife experienced a medical emergency following the duo’s tour performance in Washington, D.C. “She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy,” he wrote in an Instagram statement.

At the time, Hough, who married Erbert in August 2023, noted that she was in “stable condition.”

Hayley Erbert is ready to put on her dancing shoes again and get back onstage.

The professional dancer, 29, happily announced alongside her husband, Derek Hough, in a video posted on his Instagram Story Friday that she has been medically cleared to go back on tour.

“I am so excited to announce that I have been cleared to rejoin the Symphony of Dance tour, and I will be dancing when the tour begins on April 14th in Melbourne, Fla.,” she said in the clip.

Hough, 38, added, “We cannot wait to dance together again on stage and be back with all our fans, and thank them. Thank you all the amazing support that you’ve shown during this time. We cannot wait.”

Erbert further reflected on her recovery in a separate post on Instagram Friday that showed her rehearsing the tour’s dance routines with her husband.

“What a blessing (and surprise) it is to be able to be back on stage dancing with my love after such a crazy past four months,” the “Dancing with the Stars” troupe member wrote.

“My healing journey has been nothing short of extraordinary and being able to dance again is igniting my soul in all the ways; speeding up my recovery even more.”

Erbert thanked her team of doctors who “supported” her decision to dance again, adding that they made sure her “health and safety” were a priority.

In December 2023, the pro dancer underwent emergency brain surgery after she “became disoriented and was taken to the hospital” during a Symphony of Dance tour stop in Washington, DC.

“She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy,” Hough explained on Instagram at the time.

She also had to shave all of her hair off , as her scars healed from the invasive procedures.

All the while, Hough stayed by his wife’s side and praised her publicly for her strength .

The “DWTS” judge gushed on a red carpet in Feb. 13, “She’s unbelievable. When I married her, I knew she was strong, but I really didn’t realize how strong she really was until now.”

He then added, “She really is a miracle. I don’t really throw that word around lightly, but she really is.”

The couple tied the knot last August in a romantic ceremony at a redwood forest in California.

Hayley Erbert is returning to the dance floor four months after her emergency craniectomy.

The pro dancer, 29, announced Friday that she will be rejoining husband Derek Hough on their Symphony of Dance tour, set to resume April 14 in Melbourne, Fla. "I am just so excited to get back out and dance again after having something so traumatic happen," Erbert told PEOPLE .

"Dance has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember and so I'm just really excited to get out there and do what I love and also to see the people that have supported me throughout this entire healing journey," she added.

While Hough is "grateful" for Erbert's swift recovery, he noted that they remain mindful about not rushing anything. "We've had extensive conversations and tests and results from different doctors," Hough said. "Every kind of doctor that you can think about from our original surgeon who did the surgeries to new people in our lives and they are very supportive."

"She's all clear and we're all just amazed by her and can't wait to go out there and put on a great show," he added.

Erbert was rushed to the hospital in December 2023 after the couple's tour performance in Washington D.C., where she was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel after she had become disoriented. Erbert underwent a successful cranioplasty surgery to replace a portion of her skull and has been on the mend since.

She shared a health update in February and said she has a "new outlook on life." "To this day, I still have really good days and I have really bad days — emotionally and physically sometimes — but I'm doing so much better every single day," Erbert said. "Truly there is so much progress every day, and I'm so grateful for that."

Hough, who postponed tour dates in the wake of his wife's surgery, also announced the rescheduled dates in February, though it was unclear at the time if Erbert was set to rejoin him.

The former “Dancing with the Stars” pro donned a light blue suit with a floral pin while Erbert wore a light blue dress with a floral pattern at the bottom of the skirt.

The event marked the red carpet return of Erbert after she was rushed to the hospital in December 2023 during a performance because of a bleeding in her skull. Erbert was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma due a burst blood vessel and had to undergo a craniectomy, a surgery that removes a portion of the skull.

In the months since her health scare, the couple have shared updates through her recovery, including her return to dance.

On April 5, Erbert and Hough announced on social media that she would be returning to the “A Symphony of Dance” tour, which includes new and rescheduled dates.

Hough shared a video announcement on his Instagram story with Erbert, telling fans that she was “cleared to rejoin” the tour when it kicks off again on April 14 in Melbourne, Florida.

“We cannot wait to dance together again on stage and be back with all of our fans and thank them,” Hough added. “Thank you all for the amazing support that you’ve shown during this time. We cannot wait and we’ll see you very, very soon.”

In an Instagram post, Erbert also reflected on her monthslong journey to recovery and her return to dancing, calling it a “blessing” and a “surprise.”

“My healing journey has been nothing short of extraordinary and being able to dance again is igniting my soul in all the ways; speeding up my recovery even more,” she wrote in part in the caption.

Erbert also expressed her gratitude to her doctors and team of specialists for their help in return to dance while ensuring that her “health and safety is a priority.”

“I cannot wait for you all to see this show!” she concluded her post. “It was so meaningful when we opened last year and now, after everything that has happened, it is truly even more special.”

What happened to Hayley Erbert

Hough first shared news of Erbert's hospitalization on Dec. 7. At the time, he said she was hospitalized after she became disoriented at the end of their tour performance.

“She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy,” Hough wrote, adding that she was in stable condition.

Hough posted a video on Instagram on Dec. 15 of him and his wife, who was wearing protective head gear, walking hand in hand. A rendition of Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars” is playing in the background.

“As you all know, the past week has been a challenging journey for us due to a life-threatening event that suddenly came into our lives. It was a time filled with uncertainty and fear, going from living our dreams onstage, to a nightmare in an instant,” he began. “But today, we are filled with hope and relief as we share with you an update.”

“(Hayley’s) recovery process has been nothing short of a miracle,” he wrote. “She still has a ways to go with another surgery, hopefully in a few weeks, to insert a skull implant to replace the piece that was removed during the craniectomy.”

The dancer continued by thanking everyone for their support and the medical care that his wife received.

“It’s been a profound reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly things can change. But, it has also shown us the incredible strength and resilience that lies within us and the power of having a supportive community around us,” he wrote, adding that they cannot express enough gratitude for everyone’s support, messages, prayers and “undeniable loving energy we have both felt during this time.”

He added that while this isn’t the holiday season either of them envisioned, “it’s one that we’re incredibly grateful to have. We look forward to cherishing these moments with a deeper appreciation for life and the people in it.”

What is a craniectomy?

A craniectomy is a surgery that removes a portion of the skull — in Erbert's case it was to address the blood pooling around the brain.

An intracranial hematoma occurs when a blood vessel splits in the brain and blood pools in the skull, according to the  Mayo Clinic . It often occurs after a traumatic event, such as a car crash, fall or accident.

A day after the incident, Hough had shared a brief update, telling his followers that his wife was “now on the long road of recovery.”

On Dec. 20, Hough shared that his wife was going in for surgery "to replace a large portion of her skull that was removed during her craniectomy."

“I strongly believe all the prayers that have been sent with the intention and love of Hayley’s recovery have helped so much. I can’t thank you all enough,” he wrote on his Instagram story.

Derek Hough and his wife shared an emotional video on Instagram on Feb. 5, where Erbert recalled her experience after having a craniectomy.

“In the beginning of December, I had an emergency craniectomy. Then a couple weeks later had a cranioplasty,” which according to John Hopkins Medicine is a surgery “repair of a bone defect in the skull resulting from a previous operation or injury.”

“And here I am today,” the dancer said. “It’s been quite the journey. There’s been so much that has happened in two months. Lots of emotions, lots of ... all the things.”

Hough, on his end, praised his wife’s perseverance and strength. “She really is a miracle,” he said.

Erbert continued sharing how she’s feeling, saying, “To this day, I still have really good days and I have really bad days, emotionally and physically sometimes. but I’m doing so much better every single day. Truly there is so much progress every day and I’m so grateful for that.”

Getting teary-eyed, she also touched on all the love and well wishes she had received while in the hospital, before showing off her shorter haircut and scar.

“It’s what helped me heal,” she said. “It’s what helped me stay positive throughout the entire experience.” 

Hough then said, “It’s a new year, it’s a new haircut.”

Erbert added, “A new scar, a new sack of fluid on the side of my face, which is supposed to eventually go away.”

“I also got a new skull, but yeah, also a new outlook on life,” she said. “Life is so precious and, just spend time with the ones you love. Hold them close because you never know what can happen.”

The video message comes over a month after the “Dancing With the Stars” judge posted to Instagram on Dec. 21, the day after Erbert underwent a surgery to replace a portion of the skull removed during a craniectomy.

At the time, he said the latest operation had “been successfully completed as planned.”

“This surgery marks a significant milestone in my wife’s recovery journey, and your support has played a crucial role in getting us here. We are filled with hope and optimism for the future, knowing she is on the path to a full recovery, surrounded by such a loving community,” the Instagram caption reads, in additional gratitude expressed to the doctor who saved her life earlier this month and completed the latest surgery.

Hayley Erbert Returns to Red Carpet 4 Months After Craniectomy with Derek Hough

The event appearance marks the end of a day that began with Erbert announcing that she was cleared to join Hough again on the Symphony of Dance tour

Hayley Erbert  made her first red carpet appearance since her  emergency craniectomy four months ago.

On Friday, April 5, the So You Think You Can Dance  alum, 29, and her husband, Derek Hough , attended an exclusive cocktail reception hosted by Dana Walden and Alan Bergman to celebrate the official launch of Hulu on Disney+ .

Erbert looked elegant, wearing a white puff-sleeve dress with floral detailing. Hough, 38, opted for a light blue suit and a colorful lapel pin.

The event appearance marked the end of a day that began with Erbert announcing that she is cleared to join Hough again on the  Symphony of Dance tour .

After a tour performance in Washington, D.C., in December 2023, the dancer was  diagnosed with a cranial hematoma  from a burst blood vessel.

Following the craniectomy, she  underwent cranioplasty surgery  to  "replace a large portion of her skull," and the tour was postponed.

"I am just so excited to get back out and dance again after having something so traumatic happen," Erbert told PEOPLE.

To perform together on the tour that will kick off in Melbourne, Florida, on April 14, Hough tells PEOPLE they've "had extensive conversations and tests and results from different doctors."

"She's all clear, and we're all just amazed by her and can't wait to go out there and put on a great show and an emotional show," Hough said, noting that Erbert has an "amazing team" surrounding her that is making sure she is "good and healthy."

Erbert shared with PEOPLE that apart from getting to dance on tour again, it now holds an even more special meaning.

"Dance has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and so I'm just really excited to get out there and do what I love and also to see the people that have supported me throughout this entire healing journey," she said.

The professional dancer echoed similar sentiments while sharing a clip from their rehearsal on Instagram .

"What a blessing (and surprise) it is to be able to be back on stage dancing with my love after such a crazy past four months," Erbert wrote. "My healing journey has been nothing short of extraordinary and being able to dance again is igniting my soul in all the ways; speeding up my recovery even more."
