Blink-182 Coachella 2023

Who Is Opening Blink-182’s 2023 Tour?

Megan Armstrong

Blink-182 is back like they never left. Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Tom DeLonge performed together for the first time in nine years at Coachella last month, including a last-minute headlining set , and Blink’s headlining reunion tour is underway.

The North American trek hits Madison Square Garden in New York on Friday, May 19.

Fans are ecstatic to experience Blink with DeLonge again — the setlist is a nostalgic dream — as he officially rejoined the iconic pop-punk trio last fall, but the tour openers also elicit excitement. Turnstile was announced when the tour was confirmed in October, but Blink-182 updated everyone on April 17.

“We are also excited to welcome Beauty School Dropout, Destroy Boys, KennyHoopla, Landon Barker, and White Reaper on select dates of our North American tour. See you soon!” the band wrote on Instagram .

The North American leg is scheduled to wrap at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on July 16. The tour’s European leg will run from September 2 to October 15 in Glasgow and Manchester, respectively.

Shows in Australia, New Zealand, Peru, and Mexico are slated for early 2024 after Barker’s finger injury caused a postponement . See all of Blink-182’s tour dates here .

Mark Hoppus Teaches Beauty School Dropout the Rock Star Ropes in 'Almost Famous' Video: Exclusive

Trending on billboard.

Most exciting for fans, though, is word that a new single, “EDGING,” is coming on Friday (Oct. 14), commemorating the trio’s first time in the studio in 10 years. In keeping with the barely-contained enthusiasm for the get-together, the eternally youthful Take Off Your Pants and Jacket stars released a promotional video for the tour in which a series of fans vow that they would “do anything to make them come”… to their hometown, is what they mean. Naturally.

The video features a preview of the hard-edged, “Edging,” with the lyrics, “I ain’t that cool/ A little f—ed in the head/ They’ll be hangin’ me quick when I’m back from the dead/ Get the rope, get the rope, get the rope, get the rope.” Tickets for the tour — which a press release teased includes performances at 2023 Lollapaloozas in Chile, Argentina and Brasil alongside Billie Eilish, Drake and Lil Nas X and the 2023 edition of the We Were Young fest in Las Vegas alongside Green Day and others — are slated to go on sale on Monday (Oct. 17) at 10 a.m. local time here .

The get-back comes after Hoppus, 50, revealed that he is writing a memoir that will cover his recent battle with cancer, as well as Blink’s road to success. Back in August, Hoppus said he was “ open to whatever ” for Blink after reuniting with DeLonge before his “brutal” chemotherapy sessions. “It’s actually better than it used to be. There was no agenda. There were no lingering grudges. It felt very back to what it should be: three friends sitting in a room,” he said.

The world tour will feature support from the Wallows in South America, Turnstile in North America, The Story So Far in Europe and Rise Against in Australia/New Zealand.

Blink-182 Reunite With Tom DeLonge, Announce 2023 Tour

Blink182s Mark Hoppus Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker

Blink-182 have reunited with founding member Tom DeLonge and announced a 2023 tour. The classic lineup of DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker will also release a comeback single called “Edging” on Friday (October 14). Check out the tour dates, which include North American shows with support from Turnstile, at the bottom of the page, and watch the characteristically juvenile announcement video below. The band will release a new album next year, according to a press release.

DeLonge started Blink-182 with Mark Hoppus in 1992. Their debut album, Cheshire Cat , arrived in 1995, followed by the “Dammit”-featuring album Dude Ranch in 1997. After original drummer Scott Raynor was dismissed from the band in 1998, Travis Barker came aboard in time to record the band’s multi-platinum 1999 album Enema of the State , which featured the hit singles “What’s My Age Again?” and “All the Small Things.”

Their first No. 1 album in the United States followed, 2001’s Take Off Your Pants and Jacket . In 2002, DeLonge and Barker released a side project as a duo, a self-titled Box Car Racer album. The following year, Blink-182 released a self-titled album before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2005.

DeLonge focused on his band Angels & Airwaves, which released their debut album in 2006, while Barker became a prolific session drummer, particularly in the worlds of pop-punk and hip-hop. In 2008, Barker was involved in a plane crash that led to the trio returning for a reunion tour in 2009. In 2011, Blink-182 released Neighborhoods and they continued to tour in the early 2010s before DeLonge departed the band in early 2015.

Hoppus and Barker discussed DeLonge’s departure in an interview with Rolling Stone at the time, saying that after the band signed a recording contract and booked a studio for album sessions, Hoppus and Barker received emails from DeLonge’s management announcing that he was leaving the band. “To be honest, I wasn’t that surprised because his attitude leading up to that had been not excited and not interested,” Hoppus said. Barker called DeLonge “disrespectful and ungrateful” to have his manager break the news and not call them himself. “Why Blink even got back together in the first place is questionable,” Barker said.

Following DeLonge’s departure, Blink-182 hired Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba. They released two albums under that lineup: 2016’s California and 2019’s Nine . The band toured consistently in the late 2010s, too, and was booked to perform at the famously doomed Fyre Festival.

During his time away from the group, DeLonge has continued recording with Angels & Airwaves. He has notably committed much of his time to the study of aliens, UFOs, and conspiracy theories. He founded the company To the Stars Academy of Arts & Sciences in 2015 and was the executive producer behind the History Channel series Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation . In 2020, the Pentagon declassified UFO videos that DeLonge’s company had previously shared.

In the recent past, Barker has become something of an omnipresent cultural and tabloid figure. He has collaborated with Post Malone, Machine Gun Kelly, Willow, and XXXTentacion, to name a few. In May 2022, he married Kourtney Kardashian.

Since 2019, Hoppus has been hosting the Apple Music 1 radio show After School Radio . In 2021, he revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer; later that year, he said he was cancer free . In an August 2022 interview with People , Hoppus revealed that DeLonge and Barker visited him before he started chemotherapy. “It was the first time that all three of us were in the same room in, like, five years,” Hoppus said. “It’s actually better than it used to be. There was no agenda. There were no lingering grudges. It felt very back to what it should be: three friends sitting in a room.… Everybody’s in a really great place right now.”

Blink-182 reuniting for massive 2023 world tour, new song coming Friday

The group also has a new single coming Oct. 14.

Blink-182 announced their biggest tour ever, with Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker reuniting for the first time in nearly 10 years.

After wiping their website and Instagram clean yesterday, seemingly in preparation for some big news, Blink-182 has come through with a major announcement: Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker are reuniting for a massive 2023 world tour.

The trio have also made some new music: Their new song, "Edging," will be out this Friday.

The band made the announcement in a very on-brand double entendre-filled video .

The tour starts in Latin America in March 2023 with the band Wallows as the opening act. North American tour dates start May 4 in St. Paul, Minnesota, with the band Turnstile opening.

That leg of the tour wraps up July 16 in Nashville, Tennessee. The band will then head to Europe in September with The Story So Far as openers, and Australia/New Zealand in 2024 with Rise Against on the bill.

The tour also includes an Oct. 12, 2023 appearance at the When We Were Young festival, and appearances at Lollapalooza Argentina, Lollapalooza Chile and Lollapalooza Brazil.

Tickets go on sale Monday, Oct. 17, 2022 at 10 a.m. local time at blink182.com.

The band's return to the stage is significant, considering its members have been dealing with a lot in their personal lives: Bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus has been continuing to recover from his 2021 cancer battle, while drummer Travis Barker was hospitalized earlier this year with pancreatitis.

Blink-182 Reunite With Tom DeLonge for Massive World Tour and New Music

Mark Hoppus lied. Back in August, after Tom DeLonge shared a photograph of his former Blink-182 bandmates, tagging both Hoppus and Travis Barker , the bassist and singer took to social media to insist that the band wasn’t reuniting, much to the dismay of their fans. But the band announced today that not only is Blink-182 back with a massive world tour , but DeLonge will also return to the lineup for the first time in nearly a decade. And to top it off, they are releasing a new single, “Edging,” out Friday.

The band made the announcement in true Blink-182 fashion — with a raunchy, suggestive social media post that could give someone a very wrong impression if it were to be played too loud in public. “We’re coming. Tour’s coming. Album’s coming. Tom’s coming,” they wrote alongside a minute-long announcement visual.

The tour begins March 11 in Latin America with support from Wallows and spans through April 2. In May, the North American leg supported by Turnstile will begin in Minnesota. The band will make stops in Chicago, Montreal, Brooklyn, Hershey, San Diego, Austin, Atlanta, and more before wrapping in Nashville on July 16. The Story So Far will accompany Blink-182 on the European leg beginning Sept. 6 and concluding on Oct. 15. In February 2024, the band will head to Australia and New Zealand with Rise Against.

General sale begins Monday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. local time via the official Blink-182 website . Blink-182 will also headline Lollapalooza 2023 alongside Billie Eilish and Drake in addition to the 2023 edition of We Were Young Festival alongside Green Day and more.

Blink-182 Reunites with Tom DeLonge for Massive 2023 World Tour, New Album and 'Edging' Single

Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge are back together for the first time since 2015 with new music and an extensive string of concerts across Latin America, North America, Europe and Oceania

Get ready to Take Off Your Pants and Jacket , because Blink-182 is back in its most iconic form.

Blink-182 surprised fans on Tuesday with the announcement of its first new music and world tour featuring members Mark Hoppus , Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge since 2015 with a cheeky video teasing "Edging," the alternative rock band's new single, out Friday.

Posted to social media, the announcement video features Blink-182's signature suggestive humor as a series of everyday individuals seemingly anticipate the band's return. "If I'm being totally honest, I can't stop thinking about them coming," says a woman lounging in a beach chair, before a green-haired, heavily pierced and tattooed punker asks later in the clip, "Could you imagine all three of them coming?"

At the end of the video, text revealing the upcoming tour, album and single appear onscreen while what sounds like a clip from "Edging" plays in the background. "I ain't that cool / A little f---ed in the head / They'll be hanging me quick / When I'm back from the dead / Get the rope," sings the band.

"Edging" marks Blink-182's first new single featuring the complete trio since DeLonge, 46, exited the band in 2015 to focus on his other project, rock band Angels & Airwaves, formed in 2005. Earlier this year, he fueled rumors of his triumphant return, posting a black-and-white throwback photo of the band, which he helped form in 1992, tagging the group in the caption.

However, Hoppus later took to his Discord channel to set the record straight regarding DeLonge's rumored return to the group. "There is no news to share. There is no announcement," wrote the bassist and vocalist before noting a celebratory occasion for the band, which formed in August 1992. "Today is 30 years of blink-182!"

At its 1992 inception, Blink-182 consisted of co-founders DeLonge, Hoppus, 50, and Scott Raynor, who exited the group in 1998. Barker, 46, entered during the making of Blink-182's breakout 1999 Enema of the State album, and they released music and performed as a trio through DeLonge's 2005 exit. Since then, Hoppus and Barker have created music and toured with Matt Skiba, who's seemingly now left the band.

Kicking off on March 11, 2023, at the Imperial GNP festival in Tijuana, Mexico, and continuing its Latin American leg through early April, the reunion tour will go on for nearly a year, featuring North American shows from May through July, European shows from September through October, and a string of dates in Australia and New Zealand in February 2024.

The band's opening acts include Wallows in Latin America, Turnstile in North America, The Story So Far in Europe and Rise Against in Australia and New Zealand.

Earlier this year, Hoppus told PEOPLE that Barker and DeLonge paid him a hospital visit following his stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma diagnosis in April 2021. "It was the first time that all three of us were in the same room in like five years," said the rocker, who's now cancer-free. "It's actually better than it used to be. There was no agenda. There were no lingering grudges. It felt very back to what it should be: three friends sitting in a room."

blink 182 tour opener 2023

Blink-182 Concert Review: A Striking Rock Show at Fenway Park

As the sun set over Boston’s beloved Fenway Park on July 23, Blink-182 let their signature juvenile humor ring out across the stadium through a selection of their greatest hits and songs off their newest album, “ONE MORE TIME….” With rich instrumentation, youthful banter, and a plethora of fireworks, the band put on a nostalgic performance honoring their past and present.

Blink-182 opened the night with the classic “Feeling This,” a pop-punk song exploring the fiery but short-lived emotions of lust and passion within a relationship. Tom DeLonge, on vocals and guitar, and Mark Hoppus, on vocals and bass, took turns singing the track’s verses and chorus, with fans eventually joining in. “Feeling This” set the energy for the rest of the show, promising a night of boisterous fun and lively music that the rest of the set certainly delivered.

Following up with “The Rock Show,” Blink-182 gave their drummer, Travis Barker, time to shine. Barker gave an exhilarating and skilled performance on the drums, at times overpowering Hoppus and DeLonge but bringing the intensity of a true rock show. The fireworks throughout the song as Hoppus sang the repeating refrain, “I fell in love with the girl at the rock show,” made the show a celebratory event, tying together where the band has been and where they’re going.

Hoppus and DeLonge frequently took breaks for crowd work, ranging from jokes about the Boston cream pie and puns about Dunkin’, to making unserious proclamations that it’s “your fault your parents got divorced” and dedicating songs to the women of Boston “’cause they’re hot.” While their humor was reminiscent of a high school boys’ lunch table, it was classic Blink-182 and embodied the spirit of “What’s My Age Again?,” one of their most popular tracks and an anthem for immaturity.

This exploration of the past continued with “Carousel,” a track from their debut album “Cheshire Cat.” The song is a marker of the band’s origin, which DeLonge made sure to point out after citing criticism he has gotten for getting too deep with telling stories during the show.

“Instead of doing a story, I’m thinking we should play one of the first songs, if not the first song, we ever wrote as a band,” DeLonge said, while introducing “Carousel.”

A track about reflecting back on the ease of school days and the difficult transition of growing up, “Carousel” grapples with the loneliness and loss of community that comes with being a young adult. DeLonge’s powerful vocals alongside Barker’s drumming and Hoppus’s bass brought the angst and frustration that was key to the song.

blink 182 tour opener 2023

This meditation on the past was also present in several of the tracks they performed from “ONE MORE TIME…” as the band returned to their pop-punk sound with more introspective subject matter. “ANTHEM PART 3” looked back on old mistakes with lyrics, detailing that “this time, I won’t be complacent / the dreams I gave up and wasted.” “MORE THAN YOU KNOW” leaned toward a more metal sound, with DeLonge screaming out the song’s chorus, and explored feelings of pain and numbness.

Barker’s drumming was a literal high point of the show, as he and his drums were raised in the air during the drum solo of “Not Now” before coming back down three songs later at the end of “Down.” His solo was electric, and his drumming was truly a driving force throughout the set — though Barker shone just as well alongside the melodic vocals and fiery guitar riffs of Hoppus and DeLonge.

Toward the end of the show, the band returned to some fan favorites from their discography. “First Date,” a track recounting the nerves of going on a first date coupled with the excitement of wanting to stay in that moment, saw the return of another round of fireworks and clips of the audience projected onto the three big screens behind the band. The repeating lyrics, “Let’s make this last forever / forever and ever,” and the song’s dynamic instrumentals brought a surge of energy as the night ended.

Blink-182 makes sure to include an element of surprise at each of their shows. The band has previously used the instrumental bridge of “Dammit” to cover songs, including Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” in New York and recently Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” at Lollapalooza. In Boston, the band returned to a classic they’ve done during their early years of performing “Dammit” live: “No Scrubs” by TLC. A track about the struggles of growing up, “Dammit” is still beloved by fans today and a fitting inclusion on the setlist for a band that snubs expectations of maturity in favor of the amusement of youth.

blink 182 tour opener 2023

The history of Blink-182 is a long and tumultuous one, with several breakups, reunions, and a host of tragedies. Yet, the connection between Hoppus, DeLonge, and Barker has withstood the test of time, and their encore song, “ONE MORE TIME” hammered that message home. The song reflects on Hoppus’s battle with cancer and Barker’s plane crash in 2008, affirming that it shouldn’t take near-death experiences to bring them together. Paying homage to their song “I Miss You” with the lyrics “I miss you, took time, but I admit it / It still hurts even after all these years,” Blink-182 ended the show on a touching note.

Though the show was largely a walk down memory lane, Blink-182 celebrated not only where they’ve been, but also where they’re going. Despite an array of childish displays and songs declaring “no one should take themselves so seriously,” the band seems to have grown from their mistakes and refocused on the music, delivering a striking performance for fans new and old.

blink 182 tour opener 2023

Roisin Kelly / 24 August 2024

blink-182 at Reading Festival, 23/08/2024

The pop-punk trio delivered an emotionally charged, outrageous and nostalgic set that celebrated their 30-year career

blink-182 took the Reading crowd on a journey through their 30-year career. Splicing in an eclectic collection of their biggest hits from over the years and delivering a night that was nostalgic, outrageous and emotionally charged. “It’s f***ing awesome to be back here at Reading, we’ve been coming here since the early 2000s. Through all the highs and the lows… We’re back here.” frontman Mark Hoppus shares with the sweeping Reading crowd. Between their pop-punk anthems and their signature “your mum” jokes, this sentimentality and reflection was a predominant theme of the night. Whether you found them in the 90s or 00s, or you’re part of the resurgence that’s discovering them now, blink-182 make everyone feel something real. That sentiment is evident from the show’s opening chords. The trio arrived on stage to a deafening cheer and launched into ‘Feeling This’, the first single from their self-titled 2003 album.   Following ‘Feeling This’, the band gave fans exactly what they came for, going straight into anthems such as ‘The Rock Show’, ‘Man Overboard’ and ‘Aliens Exist’. Catchy hooks and sing-along lyrics are blink-182’s bread and butter. The band’s ability to write a pop-punk earworm is second to none, and hearing them live makes blink-182’s legacy and longevity undeniable. They bait the crowd with their blatant ridiculousness, repeatedly calling themselves the best band in the world and bringing up Britain’s colonising history with the States. They know their wind ups, silly and facetious. As always, they aim to tease fans and completely outrage the proper.

@ticketmasteruk @blink-182 killing day 1 of Reading 🔥 @Reading & Leeds Festival #readingfestival #blink182 #leedsfestival ♬ original sound – Ticketmaster UK

The band’s synchrony and tightness was something to behold. Travis Barker’s drumming prowess goes without saying, but both Mark and Tom’s vocals were impressive – even with Tom revealing he’d been sick this week. Although, in all fairness, a little extra nasality probably isn’t going to harm Tom DeLonge’s schtick.

Of course, blink-182’s foray into the emo genre, ‘I Miss You’, was an absolute crowd favourite. The drama and delivery of ‘Not Now’ matched the space-rock direction that Tom would take his side project Angels and Airwaves.

Throughout their tumultuous career – and their dysfunctional band politics – blink-182 had many side projects. Paying homage to this history with short snippets of +44’s ‘When Your Heart Stops Beating’ and Boxcar Racer’s ‘There Is’ was a moving touch for the long-time fans of each and every blink iteration.   The trio saved their biggest bangers for last. Sending the crowd into a frenzy with ‘What’s My Age Again’, ‘First Date’, ‘All The Small Things’ and ‘Dammit’ closing out the show – the final of which, Mark added a playful Spice Girl’s interpolation. But the band have always loved to make their fans laugh, and then make us cry. That bittersweetness was in full force with their encore track, ‘ONE MORE TIME’. Released in 2023, ‘ONE MORE TIME’ is the band’s letter of love, reflection and forgiveness to each other. Mark and Tom’s emotions were palpable. The encore performance was accompanied by a stirring montage of music videos and clips of the trio goofing around over the years. The show celebrated blink-182’s legacy and acknowledged the turbulent journey it took for the band to be here, reunited and performing on the main stage at Reading in 2024. ‘ONE MORE TIME’ was a beautiful way to sum that up while also serving a poignant reminder to all of us; tell your friends you love them.

The world has changed a lot since blink-182 were topping charts. Surprisingly, in 2024 blink-182’s boyish humour didn’t feel offbeat. It was silly, self-deprecating and self-aware. And with all of their nostalgic sonic angst, blink-182 transported me back to a simpler, freer time. A time without every moment of our lives captured on cell phones. Or the sensation you’re always being watched, need to appear cool and the resulting anxiety. I haven’t screamed lyrics or danced without inhibitions at a show like I did to blink-182 last night, in years.
