Anastacia (born September 17, 1968) or Anastasia Lyn Newkirk is an American pop, rock and soul singer-songwriter hailing from New York City, New York, U.S.

Born to a club-singing father and Broadway actress mother, Anastacia’s interest in singing and dancing began at an early age. Despite being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 13, Anastacia didn’t let this affect her ambitions and became a professional dancer by her teens, with appearances on MTV’s “Club MTV” and two music videos for Salt-n-Pepa including “Get Up Everybody (Get Up)” (1988) and “Twist and Shout” (1989).

She followed these appearances with vocal contributions on pop-star Tiffany’s album “New Inside” in 1990, Jamie Foxx’s debut “Peep This” and Paula Abdul’s third studio album “Head over Heel” (1995). Two years later in 2010 with the encouragement of manager Lisa Braude, Anastacia joined the MTV talent show “The Cut”. While the singer didn’t win the contest, she turned the heads of revered artists like Elton John and Michael Jackson and ended up signing with Daylight Records in March 1999.

Anastacia released her debut album “Not That Kind” internationally in 2000, which became an instant hit. The album reached the Top Ten in eight countries in Europe and Asia, selling over two million copies worldwide and produced the dance hit “I’m Outta Love”. Yet to make her U.S. debut Anastacia released “Freak of Nature” in June 2002 followed by her self-titled album in 2004 and the compilation “Pieces of a Dream: Best Of” in 2004.

Her next album “Heavy Rotation” released in 2008 which despite featuring producers Ne-Yo, The Heavyweights and Lester Mendez, failed to perform as well as its predecessors. The sound moves away from the notable pop rock towards something a little more ‘urban’, a sound direction Anastacia regrets allowing her record label pushing her in the direction of. The singer then successfully sold out 24 shows with fellow singers Chaka Khan and Lulu, who together also opened the 2009 Royal Variety Performance.

Anastacia has subsequently released “It’s a Man’s World” in 2012 a cover album of rock songs by male artists, and “Resurrection” in 2014. The latter proved to be a resurgence for the singer with another Top Ten UK album, “Resurrection”was met with both critical and commercial success.

Known as the little lady with the big voice, it’s no surprise that Anastacia wowed audiences with her powerhouse pop vocals. Starting her music career as a backing singer for artists such as Paula Abdul and Jamie Foxx, Anastacia ventured on her own musical career path in 2000 releasing her debut album “Not That Kind” and was a huge success going multi-platinum in Europe and achieved biggest selling song of the year with “I’m Outta Love” in Australia. Creating new sound known as ‘Sprock’ she fused soul with pop and rock to achieve her unique sound.

As well as her incredible vocal capacity, she has the ability to write incredibly catchy pop songs with a funky edge like “Not That Kind” and “Paid My Dues” whilst producing endearing straight front the heart power ballads like “Welcome to My Truth” and “Heavy on my Heart”.

With six albums worth of material to delve into, you can be sure that with 2 hour sets Anastacia will take you on an emotional journey full of heart and soul and bound to play a handful of your favourites.

Having a full band on stage really allows the songs come to life as she intended them to be. Playing to sold-out arenas, the rocky band and electric guitars hype up the crowd before Anastacia graces the stage in leather clad attire, and her instantly recognisable voice fills the huge arena welcomed by waves of screams and applause.

Accompanied by a trio of gospel backing singers as she roams freely around the stage waving to the crowd as she sings “Why’d You Lie To Me”. Joined on stage by energetic backing dancers the track gets a burst of Latin infused guitars as she samba’s across the stage.

The crowd goes wild for “Sick and Tired” clapping along to the beat, waving their flags and banners. Slowing the tempo right down, Anastacia takes to a stool to belt out “Secrets” with abstract video footage behind her. With a quick costume change, her signature tinted glasses make a return as she gets down to “Not That Kind” bringing a whole lot of sass.

Saving her best hits for last “Paid My Dues” and “I’m Outta Love” has the crowd on their feet dancing and singing along as Anastacia and her dancers turn up the energy to the max.

Anastacia gave fans an unforgettable night! As promised it was all about the music. A family show with great sympathy and interaction with the public.

The best known songs made ​​the audience vibrate as new songs from the new album "Resurrection". When she showed her rock side singing Guns n 'Roses and AC / DC, showed his grit and musical versatility.

I am a member of the official club fans in Portugal - COFAPT - and I emphasize the love and surrender of all members to Anastacia for years and the affect that the singer returns is indescribable.

There was a singer-public relationship when it decided to read and answer questions from the fans, looking always know where the fan was in the crowd, signing the paper and promising that it would be returned to the same.

Also reacted with affection returning and thanking the gifts sent to the scene.

The phenomenal music, the charisma of the musicians who accompanied her and the contagious joy of Anastacia gave fans a magical and unforgettable night.

A funny moment was when a fan sent a packet of potatoes onto the stage and she saved.

Anastacia is a unique, fun, warrior, powerful woman. And her voice is simply wonderful. I also want to emphasize the generous sympathy of backing vocals that were after the concert with the fans.

Vocal powerhouse Anastacia was a staple appearance on the global charts in the early to mid-00s. The Chicago singer/songwriter had a varied amount on success during the beginning of her career until her third album fell off the charts altogether in the US and she struggled to come back. However the UK audiences were far more supportive and her latest aptly named album 'Resurrection' became a top 10 hit.

There is no wonder that Anastasia looks utterly blown away by the deafening cheers as she steps out in London, perhaps not realising in how high acclaim the UK audiences hold her. She performs a setlist comprising of all the hits including a spurring rendition of 'Sick and Tired' which seems even more momentous as Anastacia talks about her battle with cancer and Chron's disease beforehand. The new material sounds powerful and has not lost the blues inspiration that first allowed Anastacia to stand out on the pop circuit. The largest cheers are received for 'I'm Outta Love' and 'Left Outside Alone' which remain as iconic as ever. It is clear to see that the performer has had almost as good a night as the adoring audiences.

Great concert. Turned out this was the first night of her Evolotion Tour 2018. For an artist of Anastacia's pedigree, kicking off in Tivoli Vredenburg Utrecht was pretty modest and low key.

Sick & tired and Paid my dues stood out for me. Two young female dancers added to the show, the band was solid.

Didn't really rate the keyboards singer filling in the vocals when Anastacia was off stage for yet another costumechange. Unenviable task. Who isn't going to come off second best in that situation?

Concert wasn't that long. Took her a while to get on stage (21h15, scheduled 20h30), she was off stage quite a bit and after one encore it was over. Shade over 1h30 total length?

Entertaining evening nevertheless. Just love that powerful voice, very personal with the audience and time to frequently pose for all the folk holding up their smartphones too. People at the very front will have got some gems of pictures!

She was definitely the boss tonight!

The concert was really amazing. Anastacia has so much power and energy! She makes all the time jokes and it's so funny. An example is, the chair where she wanted to sit on was too high for her and she lean over the chair with her upper body to put it down and it looks really funny and then she said "oh I know I'm really sexy"

Anastacia always involve the audience to sing with her. She almost dances all the time and the audience was jumping up to the songs. Anastacia also sing slow emotional songs like pieces of a Dream, where she has an unbelievable voice in the high tones. Totally Anastacia is a wonderful, funny, inspirational talented women who makes every joke with e.g. one of the Fanily (she called the fans so) started with "We are Fanily...I've got all my freaks with me" and then the Fanily started and all the others of the audience sang it. That was really cool. It's worth it to see Anastacia live on stage!

Anastacia at Uni-Halle Wuppertal last sunday night: Amazing... ANASTACIAzing! I am not quite objective when reviewing this concert, because I had the opportunity to give her a cute butterfly musician miniature, and she breathed me a kiss then. Anastacia was top motivated to get on stage and play and sing. Unique voice. All the hits are performed. Close interaction with her audience. A fine band (with dancers, backing singers), simple but very effective stage and light design. Good sound, even in a multi-purpose arena. Anastacia proved in Wuppertal that she is an absolute must hear, must be seen live.

Words are not enough to express my feelings when I came out of the show. Thank you Anastacia for brightening up what has been a very sad few weeks. You are right, we will keep doing what we like doing and when we want to. You never fail to entertain, on the many occasions I have seen you, I always feel uplifted when I come out. THANK YOU Anastacia. THANK YOU. Xx

The location was chosen perfectly and we were very happy since I bought the tickets that we were going to see and listen live to her, but the actual feeling is more than I can describe with words.

This was the finest performance and a joy to behold of every artist out there. A magical experience. This is the tenth time I've seen her live, and due entirely to health reasons, probably my last. Anastacia has saved my life 3 times, once in a dream twice, owing to depression for real. And I have yet to meet her to thank her.

Words are a bit impotent, to describe her concert and I'll be brief. Let's just say she and all her fellow talented performance friends had the entire audience standing and dancing and singing (myself included of course), which included a pregnant woman (with twiins she told me) dancing next to me!! Wonder-full night !!!

There are very few singers in the universe who embed that utterly unique tone you instantly, undoubtedly recognise. That captivating, spine tingling, soulful, big voice that warrants a superstar status.

ANASTACIA IS

A SUPERSTAR.

‘Resurrection’. A strong and interesting word. It is the translation of her name in Greek. It is description of something that is re-born. ‘Resurrection’ is fittingly the title of her sixth studio album. Anastacia has been on a long journey both in life and with her career in music. Sometimes you have to lose your way to find yourself again, overcome challenges, experiment, but if you’re focused enough you’ll find your way back. You’ll resurrect everything that went off track. If anyone knows how to find their inner strength, focus and not give up, it’s Anastacia.

For anyone who doesn’t know the challenges Anastacia has faced, there have been a few. It was just recently in April 2013, she was diagnosed with breast cancer for the 2nd time in her life 10 years after her first battle. Some would have crumbled, fallen at this hurdle but Anastacia refused to let it get the better of her.

“THE BIG ‘C’ HAS A DARK CLOUD, PEOPLE AUTOMATICALLY THINK DEATH. I DIDN’T.”

In the back of her mind she knew this day might come, so as much as one can never really prepare themselves for such news, she researched her options and was certain of her plan. Not a light decision to say the least, but she was to undergo a double mastectomy and rid her breast cancer once and for all. This process would be intense and require ‘time out’ for recovery, but until the day of the operation she found solace in writing a journal of songs. A cathartic approach, something to focus on. She was ready to find herself again, speak out to the world through her music, her resurrection.

Her personal changes and challenges went hand in hand with the hurdles occurring in the music industry. A world that has taken a beating but fought back. No one can live without music. No one can live without the fight to survive. Everyone faces challenges and writing this album was Anastacia’s opportunity to share her experiences and turn them into words of encouragement.

“SOMETIMES I WONDER IF MY PURPOSE ON THIS EARTH IS TO BE A ROLE MODEL. LOOK AT MY CHALLENGES AS A GIFT, AND MY VOICE AS TOOL.”

The day Anastacia found out she had cancer again she had just arrived at the studio with writer/ producer Jamie Hartman. The phone rang, she simply listened, solemnly nodding and absorbing the shattering news. Not an easy thing to hear. Jamie, shocked of course instantly instructed her to go home. You can imagine the baffled look of disbelief across his face when Anastacia broke her silence and looked up at him:

 “Are you kidding me? No way am l going home, lets write a damn song!”

…and so they did!

“I WASN’T PLANNING ON GOING ANYWHERE. NOT FROM THAT SESSION AND CERTAINLY NOT FROM LIFE.”

That was the day the song ‘Stay’ was born. The first chapter of her road to recovery.

Wow. What a song. A pure transition from the up-tempo tracks you’ll have been bobbing your head to, a fine example of how this album taps into every emotion with the perfect balance.

“The music industry has changed immensely since l started out and l’m only just now really learning how to change with it.”

In 2000 Anastacia had her first hit with ‘l’m Outta Love’ which became the biggest selling single of the year from her first studio album ‘Not That Kind’. She went on to thrive success with a further 6 studio albums that threw her into that very superstar status we talk of, having sold over 30 million records to date.

15 years after her breakout hit, Anastacia will released her ‘Ultimate Collection’ on November 6th. The ‘Collection’ sees the superstar return to her native label home of Sony Music, the label that were instrumental in catapulting Anastacia to global stardom, where she debuted and released her breakout smash hits including ‘I’m Outta Love’, ‘Left Outide Alone’ and ‘Paid My Dues’. The album also includes her new single ‘Take This Chance’.

On reuniting with Sony and her ‘Ultimate Collection’, Anastacia says, “I feel so blessed and humbled to be experiencing this exciting next chapter of my life. The idea for my 'Ultimate Collection' is to include something for everyone. I'm eternally grateful to be reunited with Sony, the record label that made all of this possible from day one. 15 years later I'm back, I'm home and I couldn't be happier”.

From then till now, she has lived, learnt and reflected.

And found her again you most certainly did.

Following the album release, Anastacia made several TV appearances, events and announced the duet with Spanish band, Auryn, called "Who's Loving You" and an European Tour, named 'The  Ultimate Collection Tour' .

Then in 2017, another album – another tour! After a successful two leg ‘Ultimate Collection’ tour in 2016 and 2017 Anastacia has also been on stage in 2018/19, touring throughout Europe, where she performed her new album ‘Evolution’. 

At the end of 2019, Anastacia made her musical debut in the role of the Killer Queen in the legendary Queen musical 'We Will Rock You'.

Anastacia announces 25th anniversary ‘Not That Kind’ tour

Anastacia is heading out on a European tour in 2025 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her debut album ‘Not That Kind'.

Released in 2000, the album features the hits “I'm Outta Love”, ‘Not That Kind', “Made For Lovin' You” and ‘Cowboys and Kisses'. The tour will see the singer visit Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Ireland, The Netherlands, France, Belgium, Ireland and the UK.

Speaking of the tour, Anastacia says, “I am beyond excited to be on the road again in Europe and blessed to get to come and perform in so many gorgeous places to my very special family. I didn’t get to do a tour for my first album which makes this all the more special. I can’t believe it’s been 25 years since ‘Not That Kind’, we will be sure to celebrate in true Anastacia style. It’ll be one big anniversary party. I can’t wait to see you all there!”

Noughties legend Anastacia has announced she’s making a comeback with a massive UK and European tour for a special 25th anniversary.

According to The Sun , the American singer, 55, will be performing hits to mark her landmark 2000 debut album, Not That Kind , which turned her into an international sensation.

Heading on tour next year, Anastacia will be performing the album – including the iconic I’m Outta Love , which continues to be a party-starter and club classic to this day.

Starting in Barcelona next March, she’ll arrive in the UK in April, performing 13 dates across the country.

Promising one hell of a party, Anastacia said of the tour: “I am beyond excited to be on the road again in Europe and blessed to get to come and perform in so many gorgeous places to my very special family.

“I didn’t get to do a tour for my first album which makes this all the more special.”

“I can’t believe it’s been 25 years since Not That Kind ,” she added.

“We will be sure to celebrate in true Anastacia style. It’ll be one big anniversary party. I can’t wait to see you all there!”

Anastacia has become known for her catchy pop hits with an RnB flare and distinctive gravelly singing voice.

Her other hits include Left Outside Alone , Paid My Dues and Freak of Nature .

In the years since Not That Kind first dropped, she’s released seven more albums - including one dedicated to cover songs from male artists called It’s A Man’s World , and 2023’s Our Songs , which saw her perform English-language interpretations of German hits.

Her songs are often based on personal experience, with Paid My Dues based on her experience within the music industry, and 2010 track Pendulum coming from her divorce from husband Wayne Newton.

Newton was a bodyguard and they met in 2006, before getting married in 2007.

She’s sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

However, the star has been troubled with health issues throughout her career, including Chron’s disease, which she was diagnosed with at the age of 13.

She also had a public battle with breast cancer twice, resulting in her getting a double mastectomy in 2013.

The star has since dedicated a lot of her time and public work to raising awareness and finances for cancer research.

Anastacia Announces NTK25 Tour to Celebrate 25 Years of Music

T he fabulous news that will please fans of music all over the world – the famous singer Anastacia announced the #NTK25 Tour in March 2025. Last month, the Left Outside Alone hitmaker won ‘The Masked Singer Australia after fooling the judging panel under the guise of The Vampire.

Tickets for the ‘I’m Outta Lockdown Tour’ are on sale from Friday, November 26.

Anastacia announces I'm Outta Lockdown 2022 tour and chats new music: "I had a lot of happy accidents - I didn't really know what a hit song was"

Say what you want about early 00s pop diva Anastacia , but the title of her upcoming tour - 2022's I'm Outta Lockdown, announced today for dates across the UK and Europe - is superb.

The title, of course, riffs off Anastacia's debut single and one of her biggest hits in the UK, and it was apparently thought up by Anastacia herself after she went a little loopy in the first lockdown.

"It was a joke," she tells OfficialCharts.com, "[In lockdown] I was out of Dove soap. And I started singing I'm Outta Dooooove and I thought when this is over, I could call my tour I'm Outta Lockdown.

"I might need to change a couple of the other songs too," she says on the theme of the tour, "How about Left Inside Alone?" 

The new tour comes a little late to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her debut album Not That Kind (a Number 2 hit on the Official Albums Chart) thanks to the global pandemic, but the 22nd anniversary of anything in the music industry is something to be celebrated.

"At this point, you're very grateful to have more than one [anniversary]," Anastacia tells us. "Even going into double digits, it's a beautiful thing. And since lockdown, music matters more and live music matters even more, because it was taken away."

For British pop fans, Anastacia was a chart staple during the first few years of the brand new millennium, and songs like I'm Outta Love, One Day In Your Life and Left Outside Alone have not only become radio staples, but the kind of songs that are played at parties and at weddings - the kind of pop hits that seem fundamentally British, even if the woman singing them isn't. 

"[Those songs and their effect] was not on purpose," she says on her legacy. "I had a lot of happy accidents. I didn't know half the way what a hit song was, if it was a hit song, if people would even enjoy it."

It's safe to say they did. Anastacia has secured three UK Top 10 singles in her time, as well as six Top 10 albums. And going out on the road again, some of the old classics might be getting a new shine to them in 2022.

"[My relationship to the songs] hasn't changed," she tells us, "but I don't know whether to throw some interesting things into the songs, because they  do have two decades behind them."

Don't worry, though, the production of I'm Outta Love will remain untouched (to prove this, Anastacia performs the song for us via Zoom) as it is "a one hit wonder with one lane."

Plus, there will be new music on the way next year too, and it will definitely be uptempo and in the vein of her old hits.

"Oh for sure," Anastacia laughs. "It's going to be what you want. It's my recipe! I might as well feed my people!"
