Jasmin Wagner became known in 1990 under the stage name "Blümchen" with German-language Eurodance songs. She is considered the most successful German solo artist of the 1990s and was also successful in Eastern Europe and Asia with English versions of her songs. She made her breakthrough with the song "Herz an Herz", which also contains rave and techno elements. She celebrated further successes with the songs "Kleiner Satellit" and "Boomerang". Lou Bega landed a world hit with his hit "Mambo No. 5" in the summer of 1999. Jenny Berggren from Ace of Base
Jenny Berggren, lead singer of the internationally renowned Swedish pop group Ace of Base and now a solo artist, enjoyed one of her greatest musical successes at the age of 19: the group's first two released songs "All That She Wants" and "Wheel Of Fortune" reached number one and two on the Danish sales charts. Then, in the early nineties, the album "The Sign" shot to the top of the worldwide music charts, selling over 25 million copies, making it the best-selling debut album of all time - a title that remains unsurpassed to this day. In total, Ace of Base have released four albums and a greatest hits album in less than a decade. The band sold more than 40 million copies of their albums. We are delighted that Jenny will be joining us on the 90s Super Cruise 2023 Vol. 2!
Mola Adebisi
Mola Adebisi is probably one of the most versatile people in the entertainment business. Known as a presenter of the music channel VIVA, he also shows his talent as a dancer and musician. With the song "Shake That Body" he promptly landed in the German hit list. In addition to his work as an actor and dubbing artist, Mola Adebisi is now also on the road as a DJ. Here he spins black music as well as 90s hits, offering a mix of different facets of music culture. With his impressive career as an entertainer, Mola Adebisi knows how to put his fans in the right mood. Look forward to seeing him live on the cruise of the 90s!
When you think of Whigfield, you certainly think of big hits like "Saturday Night", "Another Day" or "Sexy Eyes". It is not for nothing that the Danish singer Whigfield was considered an icon of Eurodance. Incidentally, she named herself after the surname of her English teacher. Reason enough for the artist not to be missing from the 90s Super Cruise Vol. 2 2023! We can hardly wait to celebrate with you on board to the anthems of the 90s.
With La Bouche, one of the most successful Eurodance duos of the 90s is coming to the 90s Super Cruise Vol. 2! The band received a total of eight gold and one platinum record and was very successful not only in Europe but also in the USA as well as Asia and Canada. The most famous hit is certainly "Sweet Dreams" from 1994, which should not be missing at any 90s party. The last album was a memorial album that, in addition to two unreleased songs, contained the hits of La Bouche as well as solo hits by Melanie Thornton, who died in a plane crash in Switzerland in November 2001. In 2017, the duo returned to the stage with their new singer Sophie Cairo. One year later, the single "Night after Night" was released worldwide, which was also supported by Frank Farian.
The story of Marie-José aka Loona began in the early 90s, when she pursued her dream due to a vacation job in Mallorca. With the music genre dance-pop, she made her breakthrough with the famous song "Bailando". For eight weeks "Bailando" was number 1 in Germany and Switzerland and brought Loona awards like gold, platinum and double platinum! Captain Jack
The German Eurodance band Captain Jack marked the 90s. Udo Niebergall founded the band in 1995 with frontman Franky Gee. The red cap and the uniform marked the Eurodance history of the 90s. The success is impressive: 40 million records sold, countless gold and platinum awards and hits like "Drill Instructor", "Soldier, Soldier" and of course "Captain Jack" contributed to this - catchy tunes guaranteed. Today, Bruce Lacy and Michelle Stanley cast the band and continue what started in the 90s. Look forward when it's "Hey yo Captain Jack" again!
At the 90s party on the high seas SNAP! cannot be missing. Known as the inventors of Eurodance, the music group shines with already 13 million records sold. Their debut album "World Power" alone has sold 7 million copies. The group captivates with a unique performance and quickly transports you to the 90s!
Texas, country dancing and desert are the things that first come to mind when you hear Rednex. The Swedish band transports everyone to another world. Striking with their unique style, Rednex was listed in almost every chart in the world with the song "Cotton Eye Joe". Even today they live up to their name on their live shows! Culture Beat
Torsten Fenslau founded the band Culture Beat in 1989. Later, with his brother Frank, they wrote German dance and pop history together. Alone the first single "Erdbeerbund", which is a mix of sensual lyricism and disco groove, whirled up the German and British charts in 1989. Culture Beat landed one of their most successful songs with their single "Mr. Vain". This was followed by 28 gold and platinum awards and numerous other music prizes. The addition of Jacky Sangster is another asset for Culture Beat: with her breathtaking voice and power, she will fascinate you as you cruise back to the 90s. The hip-hop duo Down Low was founded in Kaiserslautern in 1995 and landed in 1997 with the song "Johnny B." his biggest hit. The single "Once Upon a Time", released in 1998, continued the success. S.T.S.B fka Fun Factory
Marked by international success, the group S.T.S.B fka Fun Factory convinces since 1992 with a mixture of pop, dance, rap, techno and reggae music elements. Once started as a project, the group grew together more and more as a band and since then convinces their listeners with the use of different state-of-the-art studio technology, R&B elements and a lot of groove! They present their talent to their growing fan community at live performances in the USA, Europe and Southeast Asia. With S.T.S.B fka Fun Factory an incomparable stage show is guaranteed at the 90s party trip - with pure entertainment, lots of passion and positive vibes!
The successful German hip-hop and dance band C-Block had their breakthrough in 1997 with the debut single "So Strung Out", which made it into the top 10 in Germany and Switzerland as well as the Austrian top 20 in 1996. The formation around the two rappers and former US soldiers Mr. P and Red Dogg celebrated further success with the singles "Time is Tickin' Away", "Summertime" and "Eternal Grace". DJ Judge is one of Germany's most versatile DJs and has been active in the music business for over 25 years. Way more than 3,000 club and festival appearances in Germany, Austria and Switzerland speak for themselves. For over 10 years he has also been active as a 90s video DJ and provides a distinctive and seamless mix of the MTV and VIVA music videos of the 90s.
Jay Frog (Member of Scooter)
Jay Frog, member of cult band Scooter, will bring the 90s techno world to life at the 90s Super Cruise Vol. 2. German techno and EDB band Scooter, fronted by H.P. Baxxter, was internationally famous and successful in the '90s. German DJ and music producer Jay Frog continues his career. With his unique remixes and tracks he will entertain you at sea and make the ship shake.
Steve Cypress
Unfettered for more than 20 years, Steve Cypress is one of the best and most sought-after DJs in the world. He is especially known for his unique mashups & bootlegs. DJ Alex Weick
Early he made his hobby his profession. The likeable DJ, who is always up for a good time, began his career at the age of 18 in regional discos in the Rhine-Main area. DJ Quicksilver
Behind the name DJ Quicksilver are the two producers - Orhan Terzi and Tommaso De Donatis. Their tracks can be found in the charts again and again. With their second single "I Have A Dream / Bellissima" they made a breakthrough. 1.400.000 copies were sold in Germany and England! The many golden records on their walls prove the impressive success. Also with their remixes, like with the Faithless hit "Insomnia", the duo recorded successes. Their skillful hands they will also put on the DJ booth at the 90s party at the 90s Super Cruise Vol. 2 and thus provide a proper mood.
"Ihr seid so leise" (You are so quiet): With this debut single, Aquagen catapulted into the German techno charts, for which they also received a gold record shortly afterwards. After further hits like "Partyalarm", the dance music duo was also able to make a name for itself internationally and establish itself in the dance and techno scene. You can also look forward to an entertaining cinema evening and enjoy a film highlight on the high seas! Would you like to put your voice to the test? No problem, at the karaoke show you have the opportunity to do so! The Silent Party has become an integral part of every AIDA cruise. You decide yourself which music is played on your headphones. As you can see, there is a lot on offer on board the 90s Super Cruise Vol. 2!
AIDAluna - our party location on the high seas!
For the second edition of the 90s Super Cruise, we're staying true to AIDA's so-called "Sphinx design class," which is most notable for its imposing glass theatrium in the middle of the ship. Just over 2,000 passengers can be accommodated on the cruise ship, which was built at the German Meyer Werft shipyard and has eleven different cabin categories.
At the very beginning of the event cruise, toast to unforgettable days in one of the twelve bars and cafes . For example, in the Anytime Bar, where a tempting selection of exotic cocktails, delicious long drinks or a cool beer is ready for you. Here our DJs will turn night into day for you. In good weather, you can even dance under the stars and later watch the sunrise at the railing with a cocktail in your hand. You'll also find your own wine bar and ice bar on board.
Design your vacation culinary according to your taste. Eight different restaurants take you through the best cuisines in the world. In the market restaurant, the Italian "Bella Vista" and the "Wide World" restaurant you serve yourself at the extensive buffet. In the specialty restaurants "Almhütte" and "Best Pizza at Sea" the meals are also already included in the tour price and you will be served at your seat. Star hours for gourmets can experience you in the A-La-Carte restaurants "Rossini" (Gourmet), the Buffalo Steak House as well as at the Sushi bar, where exquisite courts are served to you.
Whoever wants to recover from the diverse 90 social program on board in between, will find the right retreat in the 2,300-square-meter spa area. Held in the ambience of an Indian wellness temple, you can choose the right one for you from a wide range of different treatments and pampering packages. In addition to a steam, aroma and Finnish sauna, the light-flooded wellness oasis offers a whirlpool, an experience shower, various resting options and a glass roof that can be opened.
Who would like to recover actively, has on AIDAluna an almost boundless choice. In the gym, state-of-the-art equipment is available, and various workshops and a variety of courses are offered. On deck 12 there is a dedicated jogging track with a magnificent view, and an outdoor area invites you to play various ball sports. And the ports of call can also be explored sportily on a bicycle excursion.
Variety and entertainment are offered not only by the aforementioned ship areas and our 90s Super Cruise Vol. 2 program. Whether with roulette, black jack, poker or at the slot machines - even with small stakes you are in the game in the onboard casino. Where can shore excursions and courses be booked?
Optional programs can be booked before the trip under MyAIDA or on board for a fee.
By when do the cabins have to be vacated on the day of departure?
The cabins must be vacated by 08:30 on the day of disembarkation at the latest.
Is smoking allowed on private balcony?
No, smoking is not allowed on the balcony. Smoking is only permitted in the marked areas on board.
Is internet included?
An internet package can be booked in advance via MyAIDA or on board. Here you can choose between packages with different MB (from €19.90), an internet flat rate (€19.99 per day) or a social media flat rate (for €3.49 per day). All prices can be found in the "Ship" tab on the "View detailed" view of the voyage.
Where do the evening concerts take place?
Three big open air concerts are planned on the pool deck. If the weather conditions do not permit a concert on the pool deck, the Theatrium is available as a venue.
Is there a meet and greet?
There will be autograph sessions from various artists. The exact times and locations can then be found in the daily program.
Can a drinks package be booked?
Since this is a short trip, AIDA does not offer any beverage packages. Table drinks with the main meals in the buffet restaurants are included (table wine, beer and soft drinks). You can see the drink prices in the "Ship" tab on the detailed view of the trip.
Can I select a fixed cabin number?
Yes, a fixed cabin number can be booked for an additional charge of CHF 55 per cabin.
Are there prices for children and young people?
Children between 2 and 14 years pay CHF 219 p.p. from the 3rd bed. Children from 0-2 years travel free in the cabin of the adults.
Can a transfer from the train station to the ship be booked?
A transfer can be booked via MyAIDA.
Can I redeem my AIDA travel credit?
Since this is an event trip organized by e-hoi cruises, the AIDA travel credit cannot be redeemed.
When can I log into MyAIDA?
Access to MyAIDA is possible as soon as the transaction number from the shipping company is available. This happens a few months before departure.
Is it possible to reserve a parking space?
You are welcome to book a parking space through us. Here is also a shuttle to the port terminal and back included. The price for an outdoor parking space is 95 €, an indoor parking space costs 135 € per car.
Is there a group discount?
We are happy to offer you a group discount. You get 3% when booking at least 5 cabins, 5% when booking 8 cabins and 7% when booking 12 or more cabins.
Is a deposit required?
A deposit of 20% of the travel price is due when booking. The final payment of 80% is due no later than 48 days before the start of the trip. Of course, with every booking we also give you our security certificate, which protects your holiday money.
What happens if the trip has to be canceled due to official orders?
If your trip has to be canceled at short notice due to official orders - e.g. another corona wave etc. - we guarantee you a prompt and full refund of your travel costs within 14 days. Of course, we also give you our security certificate with every booking, which protects your holiday money.
I am an AIDA Club member - do the benefits apply on this trip?
Since this is an event trip organized by the organizer e-hoi cruises, the club benefits do not apply to this trip and no points can be collected.
Where can I find the programme schedule?
You will find the exact programme with all times and places as well as opening hours of the restaurants etc. in the AIDA today on your cabin.
During the day there will be numerous programme items such as pool parties, sports classes or meet & greets, the start of the concerts in the evening is scheduled between 7.45 and 8.30 pm.

Mola Adebisi ist wohl einer der vielseitig begabtesten Menschen im Entertainmentbusiness. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Moderator des Musiksenders VIVA ist er außerdem Tänzer, Schauspieler, Synchronsprecher, DJ und Musiker. Auf der 90s Super Cruise legt er Black Music sowie 90er Hits auf und bietet so eine Mischung aus unterschiedlichen Facetten der Musikkultur. Durch seine beeindruckenden Erfahrungen als Entertainer weiß Mola Adebisi, wie er seine Fans in die richtige Stimmung versetzt.
Marie-José, besser bekannt als Loona begann Ihre Karriere Anfang der 90er Jahre, als sie aufgrund eines Ferienjobs auf Mallorca ihrem Traum nachging. Mit dem bekannten Song „Bailando“ gelang ihr schließlich der Durchbruch im Dancepop. Acht Wochen lang war der Song auf Nummer 1 der deutschen Charts und brachte ihr Auszeichnungen wie Gold, Platin und Doppelplatin! Weitere Songs wie „Parapapapapa“ und „Vamos a la Playa“ folgten in den letzten Jahren und sorgen für jede Menge gute Laune.
Captain Jack
„Hey yo Captain Jack“! Wer kannte nicht die deutsche Eurodance-Band Captain Jack? 1995 gründete Udo Niebergall die Band mit dem Frontmann Franky Gee. Bekannt für die rote Kappe und die Uniform sackte die Band unzählige Gold- und Platinauszeichnungen ein. Heute besetzen Bruce Lacy und Michelle Stanley die Band.
„Texas, Country-Dance und Wüste“ denkt man als erstes, wenn man Rednex hört. Doch die Band kommt eigentlich aus Schweden. Mit ihrem einmaligen Stil war Rednex mit dem Song „Cotton Eye Joe“ in fast allen Charts der Welt gelistet. Noch heute machen sie ihrem Namen auf ihren Live-Shows alle Ehre, auch auf der 90s Cruise!
Lazy aka Mr. President
Lazy Dee, T-Seven und Lady Danii waren in den 90ern die Erfolgsgruppe schlechthin. Der Song „Coco Jambo“ ist damals wie heute ein Riesenhit! 1995 erhielt die deutsche Musikgruppe aus Bremen mit dem Song „Up´n Away“ Gold.
Oli P. ist seit mehr als 20 Jahren im Showbusiness. Mit seinen zahlreichen Talenten ist er unter anderem als Schauspieler, Moderator und Sänger tätig. Mit dem Cover des beliebten Herbert Grönemeyer Songs „Flugzeuge im Bauch“ gelang ihm der musikalische Durchbruch. Er belegte mehrmals Platz 1 in den deutschen, österreichischen und schweizerischen Charts!
Erkan & Stefan
Lust auf eine „brontale“ Comedy-Show? Die Comedy-Legenden Erkan und Stefan alias John Friedmann und Florian Simbeck prägten die Sprache der 90er Generation. Ob als Synchronsprecher bei „Findet Nemo“ oder mit 3 eigenen Kinofilmen, das Duo war auf der Bildfläche nicht mehr wegzudenken!
Culture Beat
1989 gründete Torsten Fenslau die Band Culture Beat. Mit seinem Bruder Frank schrieb er deutsche Dance- und Popgeschichte. Culture Beat landete mit ihrer Single „Mr. Vain“ einen ihrer erfolgreichsten Songs. Es folgten 28 Gold- und Platin-Auszeichnungen sowie zahlreiche weitere Musikpreise.

Der Name des Schiffes ist eine Kombination aus AIDA & sol , was sowohl im Spanischen als auch im Lateinischen Sonne bedeutet. Auch wird der Name mit dem römischen Sonnengott Sol oder der germanischen Sonnengöttin Sol verbunden. AIDAsol weckt damit die Sehnsucht nach einem perfekten Urlaub unter scheinender Sonne und stellt das sonnigste Lächeln der Meere dar. Den aktuellen Standort sowie Bilder der Bugcam findet Ihr hier .
Die AIDAsol gehört, wie ihre Schwesterschiffe AIDAblu, AIDAmar und AIDAstella , zur Sphinx-Klasse der neueren Generation und wurde in der Meyer Werft in Papenburg gebaut. Mit einer gewaltigen Größe von 71.304 GT (Gross Tonnage) bietet das Schiff Raum für rund 2.194 Passagiere. Ihr Hauptmerkmal ist das Theatrium (eine Kombination aus Theater und Atrium), welches in der Mitte des Schiffes angelegt ist und somit den gesellschaftlichen Mittelpunkt des Schiffes darstellt.

Das Showtheater an Bord der AIDAsol heißt Theatrium. Die dreistöckige Arena zeichnet eine wunderschöne Glaskuppel und zwei riesige, beidseitige 3-Deck-hohe Panoramafenster aus. Anders als bei anderen Showtheatern auf Kreuzfahrtschiffen, ist das Theatrium kein abgeschlossener Raum, sondern Teil der jeweiligen Deckgestaltung.
Das Programm im Theatrium ist vielfältig und bietet Programm und Spaß für jeden Geschmack. Während hier tagsüber unter anderem Lesungen und Vorträge stattfinden, zieren abends Shows für die ganze Familie , Musical-, Rock-, Pop- und Artistik-Shows, mitreißende Tanz- und Gesangs-Vorstellungen und Soloauftritte die Bühne. Alle Shows sind exklusiv für die Reederei entwickelt worden und werden auch nur auf diesen aufgeführt.
Zwischen den Shows im Theatrium gibt es das Format „Prime Time“. Hier moderiert der Entertainment-Manager des Schiffes durch eine bunte Mischung aus Information, Boulevard und Talk.
AIDA ist vor allem für seine rauschenden Themenpartys bekannt. Die größten Party-Events finden auf dem Pooldeck statt. Außerdem ist die Anytime Bar mit ihrem Außendeck eine wichtige Party-Location.

Für Familien ist diese Fahrt eher weniger geeignet, auch wenn das Schiff, die AIDAsol an Programm und Ausstattung für Familien keine Wünsche offen lässt. Da Kinder die 90er Jahre nicht miterlebt haben, ist dieses Thema für sie wenig interessant. Da sind andere kurze Routen mit mehreren Häfen und mehr Ausflugsmöglichkeiten deutlich besser geeignet.

Review of aida cruises.
AIDA Cruises (aida.de) is a German cruise line brand, British-American owned and based in Rostock Germany . Founded originally as Deutsche Seereederei, in the 1960s the company entered the cruise industry.
Note: In January 2022 was sold AIDAmira to Ambassador Cruise Line . In June 2022 was sold AIDAvita . In January 2023 was sold AIDAaura (left the fleet in October 2023).
Company History and Changes
In 2000, AIDA Kreuzfahrten was purchased by "P&O Princess Cruises". After 2003's merger of Carnival Corporation and P&O Princess (forming Carnival Corporation ), AIDA's executive control was transferred to Costa Group (responsible for Carnival Group's European brands). On June 7, 2015 ( AIDAcara 's birthday), AIDA celebrated the company's 20th anniversary. AIDA was the first to offer year-round cruises leaving from Germany.
The company's current President is Felix Eichhorn.
Until 2023, Costa Group's and Carnival Asia's CEO was Michael Thamm. As his position was not filled, AIDA's and Costa's presidents now report directly to Josh Weinstein (Carnival Corporation's CEO).
AIDA continued its long-standing partnership with the shipbuilder Meyer Werft ( Papenburg Germany ) and ordered two new large-sized vessels (AIDAnova 2019, AIDAcosma 2021), each with 2500 staterooms and max pax capacity 5200.
As a pioneer in the ship cruising industry, AIDA also sets an example for environmental protection through its technology upgrades and innovations. By initiating the "Green Cruising" concept, AIDA became the world's first cruise company to operate a new generation of LNG-powered ships using 100% LNG (liquefied natural gas), thus eliminating emissions of sulfur oxides and soot particles.
AIDA ships cater to German-speaking cruisers and are renowned for their casual service and youthful style. German is the language that is the primary spoken on all AIDA boats, because most pf the company's customers are German-speaking (germans, Swiss, Austrians). They tend to be young and active, as AIDA's seagoing "club resorts" offer many amenities and facilities attracting younger vacationers.
On all AIDA vessels. dining is entirely open-seating and takes place in two or three complementary self-service restaurants. Being without MDRs (main dining rooms), the ship's buffet is the conceptual substitute. Passengers tired of the buffet meals can alternatively try the a-la-carte-priced restaurants pampering with high-quality gourmet cuisine and an elegant atmosphere.
On June 24, 2023, on three ships (Nova, Perla, Prima) AIDA introduced the Soulkitchen. The a-la-carte-priced restaurant has a 3-course menu with plant-based vegan dishes (including meat and seafood alternatives) and organic beverages (coffee, tea, fresh juices) as well as non-alcoholic wines and spirits.
AIDA emphasizes the ultra-casual travel experience. AIDA aims also on fitness and wellness activities in the popular AIDA Fit & Fun and Spa, and on the expansive decks. There is lively entertainment at night in the theatre. The well-patronized lounges and bars create an easygoing, festive atmosphere.
All AIDA liners have on their top-deck Freikorperkultur (FKK Bereich) - a fore-located Nudist Deck. This is a generously-sized outdoor area where naked passengers can enjoy sunbathing protected from the gaze of curious suitors. The special FKK deck area is located forward on the ship's top-deck. In most cruise ports, and especially in countries where the local culture doesn't allow nudism in public spaces (for example, Muslim countries), the ship's FKK deck can be accessed only in swimwear. On most AIDA liners, the FKK deck has 1 (or 2) whirlpools / hot tubs.
HELIOS-Class ships (newest)
AIDA's newest class of cruise vessels (succeeding the Hyperion-Class ships AIDAprima and AIDAperla) is called "Helios-class".
These are LNG-powered ships produced by Meyer Turku , with GT-tonnage 183,900 tons and passenger capacity 5200 (lower berths / 6600 max). The first of the newbuilds ( AIDAnova ) was delivered in December 2018, the second ( AIDAcosma ) in April 2022.
On February 27, 2018, Carnival Corporation signed a shipbuilding contract for a 3rd unit for AIDA (delivery in 2023). This was the 98th cruise ship order for the industry's global fleet (order book 2018-2026). However, in June 2021 was announced that the newbuild ( Carnival Jubilee ) will be assigned to the CCL-Carnival fleet .
Each vessel has 21 cabin categories (including Penthouse Suite, Family and Single-occupancy staterooms), 17 restaurants (including self-serve, a-la-carte priced, 5x specialty), sports deck / deck 16 (water park with 1 slide, mini-golf course, ropes course), pool deck (will retractable glass roof and beach-club complex), 2-deck / 2-level Promenade Deck (connected via stairs).
In July 2015, Carnival Corporation signed a shipbuilding agreement with Meyer Werft for the construction of all 4 new class vessels. Of these 4 new cruise liners , 2 are for Costa Cruises and the other 2 for AIDA. The 4-vessel contract was part of a previously announced larger shipbuilding order with Fincantieri (Italy) and Meyer Werft for all 9 new vessels with scheduled deliveries between 2019 and 2022. Costa ships were built in Turku Finland , AIDA ships - in Papenburg Germany .
Managed by Costa Group, the combined Costa-AIDA fleet became Europe's largest. In 2014, one out of every two cruise ship tourists in Europe sailed on either AIDA or Costa ship. In 2015, Costa Group had 20 offices in 14 countries, around 27,000 shipboard employees and total passenger capacity of 68000+ berths (fleetwide).
AIDA Evolution (fleet modernization program 2025-2026)
In February 2024 was announced the company's largest fleet modernization) drydock upgrade and refurbishment program "AIDA Evolution".
The project was for the 3x SPHINX-class units (Diva, Bella, Luna) with each drydocking taking ~6 weeks. AIDAdiva is scheduled for drydocking in 2025-Q2, AIDAbella - in 2025-Q3, and AIDAluna - in 2026-Q2.
By this project, the three vessels will be completely overhauled, refitted and upgraded with new technologies and equipment and systems. Interior upgrades include refurbishment (complete redecoration) of all passenger staterooms, new Suites, revamped public spaces (carpeting, walling, artworks) more dining options/new restaurants and bars, new fun-themed activity and lounge zones catering to families with children, exclusive areas and services catering to Suite guests. The Theatrium will be enhanced with new seating arrangements and a color scheme.
AIDA cruise ship robots
An innovative AIDA and Costa program implemented the latest cyborg technology in both fleets. Humanoid robots (named Pepper) greet and guide passengers upon embarkation. They also assist them throughout the voyage by providing information and tips on shipboard dining, entertainment, pre-scheduled daily events, shore excursions/tours.
Peper robots communicate in 3 different languages (English, German, Italian), to move fluidly and even to interpret human emotions by analyzing voice tones and facial expressions.
The new technology was first tested on AIDAstella where Pepper learned to engage with passengers and crew. The first set of robots were introduced on Costa Diadema and AIDAprima in April 2016. By the end of summer 2016, Pepper robots were added on all AIDA and Costa liners.
Unlike other ships, AIDA's off-duty (human) crew are allowed to mingle with passengers.
AIDA's LNG-powered liners
The AIDAprima ship's first successful test run for LNG supply was in Hamburg Germany on May 7, 2016. While berthed, the ship was successfully provided with LNG at all the itinerary's ports of call (Hamburg, Rotterdam, Le Havre, Southampton, Zeebrugge).
The company's statistics show that an AIDA vessel spends ~40% of its operating time in ports. Compared to using conventional marine diesel (0,1% sulfur content), by using LNG the vessel's emissions are considerably reduced even further - Sulfur oxides (SOx) and soot particles are eliminated (while in port), nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions were reduced by up to 80%, carbon (CO2) emissions were lowered by 20%.
The AIDA ships (produced by Meyer Papenburg ) are 100% LNG-powered. AIDA invested in research and testing of LNG technologies since 2015.
In 2013, AIDA collaborated on LNG hybrid barges with Becker Marine Systems. The innovative and flexible solution is used on ships moored in Port Hamburg. Since May 30, 2015, AIDA's ships (starting with AIDAsol) have been regularly bunkered/supplied with LNG at Hamburg's Hafencity Terminal.
AIDA ships use just 3 liters (0,8 US gallons) of fuel on average per person on board for a 100 km (62 ml) trip. This was confirmed by an independent expert study in 2012. Thanks to the use of new technologies and the economical handling of resources, additional progress was made.
The company's statistics for 2016 (over 2012) showed 9% less energy used per person on board, reduced water consumption per person on board (by 7,2%) and reduced CO2 emissions (by 7,7%).
In August 2019, AIDA contracted the Candian stock-listed company Corvus Energy for delivery and installation fleetwide of the world's largest ship battery-package ESS (Energy Storage System / air-cooled system with patented single-cell thermal isolation). Orca ESS (Corvus Energy's biggest battery pack) has capacity 6100 kW per hour - or double the capacity of currently largest battery-packed ( electric ) ferries . Battery power is combined with the vessel's powerplant and propulsion. AIDA's other partners for this project are ABB Marine & Ports (producer of Azipods/electric propulsion units) and Siemens AG (Europe's largest industrial manufacturing company).

(Coronavirus crisis) passenger shipping pause 2020-2021
Due to the COVID pandemic, AIDA suspended its entire fleet's passenger shipping operations (all liners) canceling all voyages with pre-scheduled departures in the period March 14, 2020, through late-April 2021. Operations temporarily resumed on October 17 with AIDAblu (7-day Mediterranean from Civitavecchia-Rome, through Nov 28) and fleetwide on November 1. However, on Oct 29, due to Germany's imposed public life and travel restrictions, AIDA canceled all voyages through Nov 30. AIDAperla and AIDAmar were scheduled for 7-day ex-Gran Canaria roundtrips (in the Canaries) starting December 5, but the program was canceled. AIDAprima's Dubai 2021 winter program was canceled.
Initially, as exceptions were announced the ships Perla (Aug 12, from Hamburg), Diva (Aug 15, from Warnemunde-Rostock) and Prima (Aug 15, from Kiel). However, these departures were canceled as the flag-state (Italy) delayed its approval for the restart. Eventually, AIDA extended its passenger shipping pause through August 2021 (fleetwide thru August).

- On July 9, 2020, AIDA announced that will restart operations with three liners and cruises to nowhere (portless itineraries with roundtrips from Germany). AIDA's "nowhere ships" were AIDAperla (August 12 / 3-nights from Hamburg), AIDAmar (August 12, from Warnemunde) and AIDAblu (August 16 / 4-nights from Kiel). Bookings were opened on July 9.
- In June 2021 was canceled AIDAcosma's 2021 program (Arabian season from Dubai and Abu Dhabi) and the Canary Islands deployment (7-day roundtrips from Tenerife and Gran Canaria).
- In July 2021 were canceled the winter 2021-2022 programs of AIDAaura (South Africa from Cape Town), AIDAvita (including 2x 43-day roundtrips from Hamburg to the Caribbean and Bermuda), AIDAmira (Aegean Islands from Heraklion Crete).
- IMPORTANT: On June 23, 2021, Carnival Corporation (shipowner) announced that AIDAcara has been sold (to a Russian buyer). The 1996-built (as Clubschiff) boat left the fleet after 25 years of service. Cara was AIDA's first-ever vessel.
- IMPORTANT: On June 14, 2022, was announced that the 20-year-old AIDAvita (2002-built) will not resume operations, being sold (to an undisclosed buyer) and leaving the fleet.
All affected bookings received full refunds, including on prepurchased through AIDA packages and services. For the period, all the company's employees had the options to either remain onboard or leave the vessel and return home (without terminating the job contract with AIDA Kreuzfahrten). All affected bookings received 110% refund in FCC (future cruise credit). The FCC can be used for rebooking on any cruise ship/itinerary (fleetwide) with departure through December 31, 2021. The FCC is redeemable for MyAIDA (pre-purchasing shore excursions, onboard specialty dining and wellness services) or can be transferred to OBC (onboard credit).

Following the deliveries of the "Japanese" ships AIDAprima (2016) and AIDAperla (2017), for the first time in its history, the company had booked 2+ million Germans.
AIDA operates the German vacation cruising market with modern vessels and 140+ different itineraries visiting 250+ ports worldwide.
Signature destinations include Bermuda, the Caribbean-Bahamas, Eastern and Western Mediterranean (including Greece, Turkey, Egypt), North Africa and Spain's Canary Islands, Northern Europe (UK, Iceland, Baltic, Norwegian Fjords), North America (USA-Canada), Transatlantic crossings (RepositionCruises.com), Red Sea, Southeast Asia,
Mediterranean voyages usually depart from Palma de Mallorca (fly-cruise packages). Most Northern European voyages depart from Germany (Hamburg and Kiel).
As of 2023, AIDA offers 5750 shore excursions globally, of which ~780 emphasize sustainable tourism.
Summer 2023 Northern European deployment
For the summer 2023 season, AIDA launched new itineraries for the ships AIDAnova, AIDAmar, and AIDAdiva.
AIDAnova (from Kiel ) operates the 7-day “Baltic Sea from Kiel” or the 14-day “Norway and Baltic Sea” voyages with departure dates between May 6-October 21, 2023. Call ports include Norway's Oslo and Kristiansand , and Denmark’s Copenhagen and Skagen .
AIDAmar (from Warnemunde-Rostock ) operates 9- and 10-day roundtrips to Scandinavia and Norway, visiting 3 Nordic capitals ( Stockholm , Oslo, Copenhagen), along with Aarhus , Gothenburg/Goteborg , and Visby . The new Norwegian voyages visit 3 different fjords - Eidfjord , Olden , Vik/Vikoyri , as well as Bergen , Gothenburg, Kristiansand, Skagen.
AIDAdiva's schedule (from Warnemunde-Rostock) runs from May 6 to October 14, 2023. On 4 departure dates (May 6, July 8, August 5, September 2), the boat sails around Norway visiting Vik/Vikoyri (Sognefjord), as well as 4- and 5-day roundtrips in the Baltic Sea. Along with the popular Copenhagen, Gothenburg, and Stockholm, tourists can visit Poland's Gdansk-Gdynia , Denmark's Fredericia or Bornholm (maiden ports for AIDA. The four 7-day “Sweden, Poland & Denmark” voyages (departures July 1, July 29, Aug 26, Sept 23, 2023) remain unchanged. Both the 7-days and the new 4- and 5-days itineraries can be combined into B2Bs/back-to-back cruises .

Following the summer Mediterranean season, AIDAcosma starts voyages around Spain's Canary Islands and Portugal's Madeira from November 2023 thru April 2024. The 7-day roundtrips are from Gran Canaria / Tenerife .
AIDAprima is homeported in Dubai / Abu Dhabi to visit Muscat (Oman) and Doha (Qatar) or Bahrain and Sir Bani Yas . The 7-day itineraries can be booked combined (as 14-day B2Bs).
AIDAbella and AIDAblu are deployed in Asia. AIDAblu visits the Indian Ocean islands Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles, La Reunion. AIDAbella from Singapore visits Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, the Philippines. In March 2024, AIDAbella's Easter Voyage (21 days) visits Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam, and Japan (5 ports are maiden for the ship and 3 are new for AIDA / Kochi , Nagasaki , Tokyo ).
In the Caribbean, 3 ships ( AIDAdiva , AIDAluna , AIDAperla ) visit the Netherlands A-B-C islands (Aruba-Bonaire-Curacao), Costa Rica, Mexico, and Panama. AIDAdiva alternates on a route to Mexico, Belize, and the Lesser Antilles. An embarkation is possible in 4 ports (Barbados, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Martinique).
AIDAmar 's 43-day roundtrip from Hamburg to the Caribbean features a New Year’s Eve visit to Bermuda.
AIDAsol starts a world voyage from Hamburg in October 2023. From February 2024, 3 “Winter in the far north” itineraries are included in the program.
AIDA's winter 2024-2025 schedule has 380 departure dates and popular destinations like the Caribbean, the Canary Islands, Far East Asia, as well as Europe's most traveled regions - the Mediterranean and the Baltic.

AIDA's winter 2025-2026 season groups voyages visiting destinations in the Caribbean, South Africa, Spain's Canary Islands, the Orient/Red Sea, the Indian Ocean islands (Seychelles, Mauritius, La Reunion, Madagascar) and Northern Europe.
African voyages offer safari tours in the Table Mountain ( Cape Town ), the Cape of Good Hope, deserts, and beaches. Cape Town's tours feature street food events, microbreweries, foodie tours, and affordable Michelin-starred restaurants.
AIDA's winter 2025-2026 Caribbean voyages are scheduled for a 3-ship fleet ( AIDAperla , AIDAblu , AIDAsol ).
In the Arabian Gulf/Red Sea is deployed AIDAprima (homeported in Dubai USA ). Destinations include the UAE/United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman.
In the Canary Islands and Madeira are deployed AIDAcosma and AIDAmar .
In Northern Europe/Baltic Sea, AIDAnova ship from Hamburg visits Norwegian and Western European metropolises (November 2025 through April 2026) including Arctic Norway's Northern Lights experience.
(animal cruelty) The Faroe Islands cruise boycott
In mid-July 2016, AIDA became one of the three cruise ship companies (together with Disney and Hapag-Lloyd ) that banned Faroe Islands (a Danish territory) as a destination part of their North European itineraries.
The boycott is due to the island nation's traditional mass slaughter of pilot whales each year. The protected by Denmark gruesome practice of killing whales is called “Grindadrap Grind". Locals use motorboats to drive a pod of whales into a harbor. The defenseless animals are dragged to the shallow water and brutally slaughtered by locals armed with knives (16-19 cm / 6-8 inch long) while their families cheer them on. The killing party even rip out baby whales from their mothers.
The Faroe Islands have a population of about 50,000 and kill each year over 1,000 pilot whales. You can see the cruise ship schedule of Torshavn - Faroes most visited port. All cruise lines with scheduled visits to the Faroes are accused of supporting the brutal whaling practices. Whaling is still officially approved and carried out by the "civilized" countries Japan, Norway, and Iceland, killing over 2000 whales each year and trading in whale products.
AIDA's response was to the new "Faroese Pilot Whaling Act" by the local government, which continues to allow pilot whales to be culled or massacred. It also empowers local authorities to imprison (for up to 2 years) people found guilty of impeding these whaling activities - despite all the international condemnations.
Sea Shepherd and Greenpeace are among the largest organizations taking direct actions against the "Faroese Pilot Whaling Act". Most of the available online haunting images of slaughtered whales lying in a sea of blood are released by these organizations.

Benefits for our loyal guests: aida club.
We reward loyalty to AIDA! What was previously our frequent traveler program became the AIDA Club in 2011. This bonus program rewards days spent on board with attractive club benefits. Our guests don’t even have to register: After only ten days’ cruising within a five-year period, they automatically start to enjoy various complimentary benefits. With a greater number of days, for example we award on-board vouchers, invite guests to participate in club meetings or give them the chance to enjoy exclusive culinary highlights. Frequent travelers also receive their own personal log-in details for the AIDA Club portal. By the end of 2011, the AIDA Club already had 650,000 members, and in 2012, we are aiming for 800,000. Our online information platform for members has also been very well received. By the end of 2011, almost 117,000 members had registered there. By the end of 2012, we would like to increase this figure to 150,000 and encourage members to be proactive in helping to shape the club.
The virtual world of AIDA
We recognized the importance of social media as a tool for communication and interaction early on, and today we are very well established in this area. Almost 200,000 fans “liked” us on Facebook in 2011, and we’re aiming for 350,000 “likes” in 2012. In addition to the latest news, video clips and information about AIDA, we also provide our Facebook friends with an attractive platform to interact with us directly. The “ AIDA Weblounge ” online community represents another important component of the virtual AIDA world. Fans and AIDA friends can meet here to discuss all travel-related subjects. Captains, club directors and guests blog directly from our ships and post their vacation photos. The increasing number of users confirms the success of this community. At the end of 2011, there were already more than 68,000 members. From the beginning of March 2012, we want to give 300,000 AIDA Club members access to the web lounge. By the end of the year, we’re therefore expecting user numbers to increase to around 90,000. The content shared by users provides valuable assistance to those interested in a cruise as they plan their next dream vacation. In this way, the community offers real added value to both our fans and our potential guests. Naturally, we are also active on YouTube, Twitter and Google+, providing information about vacationing with AIDA.
Protection of guest data
Responsible handling of our guest’s personal informations is a matter of course for us. We therefore only collect, process and use personal data in compliance with statutory requirements, first and foremost the EU Data Protection Directive and Germany’s Federal Data Protection Act. It is a fundamental principle for us that personal data is only further processed with our guests’ prior personal consent. Employees who deal with customer data are given training on applicable legislation and our guidelines by our data protection officer. The privacy statement and privacy guidelines are binding for all our employees. In 2011 we expanded our existing privacy policy to the new statutory requirements.
TÜV Süd certifies AIDA Cruises’ compliance with data protection regulations. In the report period for 2011, there were no infringements of any regulations.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital
There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.
How to find the right boat?
There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.
Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.
This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.
Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such option offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).
If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.
Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.
How to buy tickets?
Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.
“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!” wrote (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.
Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.
Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.
Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.
Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as this offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.
This website (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other website sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.
Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.
“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.
There are two main boarding piers in the city center: Hotel Ukraine and Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.
Where to sit onboard?
Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.
The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.
Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.
There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
