Terrible! Cancelaron mi vuelo y los de mi flia faltando 4 días para el viaje. No nos han dado opciones de rebooking y solo dieron opciones de dar un bono y reintegrar dinero, para lo cual tenemos que pagar 50Euros y esperar de 4 a 6 semanas según ellos pero se que puede demorar mucho más. Aun no sabemos que vamos a hacer!!! Nada recomendable!!!

Great. Always find the best price at Travel Up with clear descriptions of how many and what kind of beds are in each room!

“Sad to say I would never use them again”

Sad to say I would never use them again. I had to change the date within 72 hours because of a work meeting. When I tried to rebook our hotel, the price was now $900+ more for the same 7 days. I checked directly with the hotel and their rate was $560 less than Travel Up. I told Jacob to match it or cancel it. After a few more blah blah emails from Jacob, I finally got canceled. A rip off and not at all a nice experience.

No flight booked!

I booked with travel up in November, for a flight on March 30th. There were several “schedule changes” leading to me not having a seat on my flight just two weeks before I was due to go on my trip! I had received e-ticket confirmation, yet when I emailed 2 weeks before my flight to ask how I could check in (I needed an AirNZ reference number which I didn’t have), I was told there was no space on the flight. I asked them 3 times to find an alternative flight for me that would arrive the same day, but they could not. They said they could reimburse me 90%, so I went ahead and booked with a different company. However, when I pursued the refund - they told me there were now flights available for my selected date, so I was no longer eligible for the refund. This was 4 days before my trip. I spent HOURS on the phone to customer services, who were incompetent to say the least. Eventually I got through to a manager who told me a waiver might be able to be granted, and 4 days into my holiday, I got my refund. Though an OK outcome, I still lost over £100 for Travel Ups error. The company caused me an incredibly stressful few weeks leading up to my trip.

Your situation was indeed unfortunate, and we deeply regret any distress it may have caused. There were multiple schedule changes made by the airlines shortly after you booked your flight. As one of our representatives explained, rebooking passengers under such circumstances requires obtaining a waiver code from the airlines. We approached the airlines multiple times, but due to the Easter holidays, they were short-staffed, which regrettably caused delays in securing an alternative solution. We sincerely apologise for this delay. Regarding your claim that our incompetence cost you £100, we would like to clarify that we pursued a refund from the airlines and did our best to recover the full amount for you. However, some parts of the ticket are non-refundable, which is beyond our control. Additionally, as clearly stated in our terms and conditions, an administrative fee is applied whenever a refund is processed. While we are relieved that you eventually received a refund, we acknowledge the frustration and inconvenience you faced. Your feedback is important to us, and we are committed to improving our processes to prevent such issues in the future. You charged me £14.73 for a business…

You charged me £14.73 for a business debit card. Without first requesting if I was okay with it. This is daylight robbery.

Please be notified the card transaction fees are imposed by the financial institutions and are only applicable on business or specific cards. At the time of booking, before you proceed with the payment, dropdowns were displayed along with the percentage of fee deduction, so you can choose the type of card accordingly. The banking system we use has identified the transaction as a company/cooperate /commercial card. Unfortunately, we cannot refund the charge as the banking system has recongised the transaction as related to a business. Once the payment is submitted, the different mode of payment cannot be modified, and it is always the card holder’s responsibility to select the card wisely. Thank you for your co-operation. I have never been so disrespected like…

I have never been so disrespected like I have with this company!!! Do not book with them!!!!! Extremely unprofessional employees!!! False information!!! And are not willing to help !!! I got hung up on 4 times!!!! With no explanation to why my reservation was pending!!! Then after getting hung up on 3 more times they told me I couldn’t make same days reservation and they’ll issue a refund in 2 days!!!!! No where on the website does it say “no same day reservations” they refuse to put a supervisor the refuse to listen to me. I was left with no money and my kids and In the streets!!!! I’m am sooo upset!!! Don’t book from here!!!! Save your self!!!!

Overcharged and felt betrayed.

I checked the ticket price on Skyscanner. I choose the airline and price. It took me to travel up.com The price shown on Skyscanner was around £970 but travelup charged me £1034. It is so deceitful. I was so disgusted. I will never use this site again. I Would be staying away from this Travelup.

All good until you need the help of the customer service team!

I have used Travel Up before with no issues. However on this occasion the airline we were due to travel with cancelled our flight and offered us an alternative flight that was a full 48 hours after our original flight. The customer service I received from Travel Up on this occasion was pretty poor. They were slow to respond, their emails were riddled with mistakes (on one occasion they nearly booked me on a flight that was going to be 3 days after our original departure date by mistake!), there was an unacceptably long delay with sending through my updated e-tickets. This all meant that it took a full week for my updated flights to be sorted which caused me a huge amount of stress not to mention wasted time in repeated emails and phone calls. In a nutshell, they are good enough when everything goes smoothly, but if there is an issue with your flights and you need the support of the customer service team, then woe betide you!

BEWARE! BOOK DIRECT WITH THE AIRLINE!

BEWARE! Booked a flight for seven people, realised I had booked the return date incorrectly, one day out. I emailed travelup within 10 minutes of booking and called them straight away to change it over. They wanted £75 per person to change the date despite the flights costing the same on both days. They discounted it down to £150 for the seven and sent me a 30 minutes link telling me that after that they won't change it and they won't be responsible anymore. Extremely poor customer service, hidden charges, basically a con company praying on people's mistakes. Over 4k in flights, yhe worst customer service I have ever experienced and I'm not even close to boarding yet! Hopefully the tickets actually show up and the plane doesn't leave without us! BE WARNED! BOOK DIRECT WITH THE AIRLINE!

Worst Travel Agent with a lot of hidden terms...

Travel Up is the worst company with numerous hidden terms and conditions. They refuse to provide refunds even when the British Airways refunded it. I booked a British Airways flight that got delayed, and I canceled it as it was eligible for a refund. Although the airline confirmed the refund, Travel Up did not issue it. Instead, they offered me a £20 voucher for a £250 ticket. Avoid using Travel Up at all costs; they are nothing but scammers.

Charged when airline cancels flight.

If the airline cancels, they will keep £50 of your refund as a "cancellation fee". They did it to me and it's written explicitly in their T+Cs. Book direct instead: For all bookings. Please note, the booking fee you pay to us when placing your booking (please see clause 7.6 for more information) is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of your chosen Travel Arrangements together with an administration fee of £50 per booking (unless you have purchased a service pack, in which case the administration fee payable will be as per the terms of your chosen service pack).

Legit company but with small friction

Yes, I received our e-ticket. Some small problem when I used my debit card instead of credit card as I do not want to be charged extra when paying by credit card. I carefully selected visa (0% charge) but still got charged 2%! Phoned and emailed them and was told I selected the wrong option but will be refunded in 3-5 working days (hopefully). Small hassle that I have to phone and create an email. Overall not too bad. Then I phoned again If I can book seats. My call was transferred to another department, spoke to a guy who was like puzzled when I ask if I can reserve seats, then took my booking number, put me on hold for a long time and never came back to me. My call went to voice mail afterwards. Typical style when you phone companies and staff don't want to go extra mile to help you (they put you on hold forever until you give up)

Is TravelUp Legit? Check Out What We Found!

In our opinion, after receiving complaints from people scammed by TravelUp personally, we do not recommend booking your trip with TravelUp.

TravelUp is a tour and travel company that offers many holiday packages. They claim to provide one-of-a-kind vacations for those who want a fast-paced and exciting vacation, as well as those who want something more leisurely and relaxing.

They also state they offer a one-stop solution for your holiday to any imaginable destination in order to provide their customers with a broad selection of holiday destinations.

TravelUp is based out of the UK and was founded in 2004, and has grown remarkably fast. They have even been nominated for several awards in the last few years, including Best Online Retailer and Best Flight Booking Website by the British Travel Awards in 2019 and their CEO picking up the EY Entrepreneur of the Year's Scale-Up award for London and the South region.

The agency has an IATA accreditation, providing approval to promote best practices recognized across the aviation industry worldwide. In addition, its package holidays are protected by its ATOL license (ATOL 7227) in the United Kingdom and its ARC license within the United States of America.

Many customers are unsure whether TravelUp is legit or not, so we have done some digging to find out more about this company. We have looked at their website content and customer reviews to see if any red flags have been raised that might cause concern.

Is TravelUp Legit?

What do the customers say?

The first place we went to look for information regarding TravelUp was review sites, such as Trustpilot and Feefo. These sites are popular places for people to find companies' customer reviews. Reviews on these sites can be extremely helpful in determining if a company is legit or not, so we decided to take a look.

On Trustpilot, TravelUp has an average rating of 4.2/5 stars. This is a pretty good score at first glance. There are thousands of people who have posted reviews on this site. While most of the ratings are positive, there were still some troubling things that came up.

What can we tell from the reviews?

Customer reviews with options ranging from sad, ambivalent, and happy

The first thing to note is the customer reviews posted on the internet. These are a great indication of how a company operates, what kind of people they attract, and whether or not their claims about providing certain services are legit. Of course, it does need to be taken with a grain of salt, too, as we have had a personally great experience with many companies that have a host of negative reviews. Nonetheless, it helps get a fuller understanding of the business.

After going through these reviews, we found that a few recurring themes appeared to be raising some red flags.

First, many customers are unhappy with their customer service, claiming they can take days or even weeks to respond. One customer claims they had trouble contacting the company, and another states that their e-mails were constantly ignored. Many also mention being left waiting on the phone for long periods or holding forever before they were able to speak to someone.

Another recurring theme is that customers feel misled by what they say they will offer. Several people claim unexplained charges on cancellation, such as a £50.00 charge, even though the customer booked a Free Cancellation service. Many complain that they didn't receive the benefits they were promised with their package holiday. This seems to be a common problem, so it would be worth checking out what you are getting before booking a trip through TravelUp. One user even claimed to have found TravelUp's prices double that of other companies for the same holiday.

Lastly, we noticed from reviews that many customers complain of being offered different prices for similar trips at other times. This seems to be a sign that TravelUp may not be as transparent as they claim, and you should always make sure you are getting the best deal available before agreeing on anything with them.

What can we tell from their website?

The website is a great place to look for information about a company you want to investigate. If their website is professionally put together and seems pretty trustworthy, it might be safe to book with them. On the other hand, if their website is a bit shoddy or doesn't look professional, it might indicate that the company itself isn't as trustworthy as you would hope.

TravelUp's website is simple and easy to navigate, the UI/UX is good but not exceptional. Some users have suggested that they find it hard to navigate. For example, if you select a hotel, then decide that you don't like it and want to go back to the list. It recreates the list from scratch, which can be inconvenient and frustrating for some people. This issue can be solved by opening up each hotel in a new window/tab, but the website does not allow you to do so, which is problematic. And half of the hotels shown are 20km away from the city you are looking in. It limits your options.

The site does not make it obvious who is running the company. No information is given on the people on board, which some users found troubling, especially those with customer service issues. The lack of precise contact details can also be a problem if you need to get in touch with them quickly.

Loving Couple Planning Vacation Trip

While the website isn't terrible, certain things do stand out. TravelUp claims to have the best deals on flights, hotels, and package holidays but is that true? Many of their customers have had issues with their customer service and the actual services.

Their website is easy enough to navigate, but some users suggest it can be hard to find specific information if you are unsure where it is.

So, what's the final consensus? It seems as though TravelUp is a company that pays close attention to its marketing but has not been able to live up to those promises.

If you find a deal that's way too good to miss out on, make sure to get in touch with them before booking anything. Check for customer reviews and any other sources of information that you can get your hands on.

The company appears to be legit, so if you want to give this start-up a shot, then take the plunge. But, to be fair to TravelUp, sometimes things go wrong in a business, and they learn from it and improve over time, so if they've lasted this long, maybe they will reach new heights as a company.

In the end, Hunter Biden and his army of pricey lawyers got tripped up by their own arrogance and overconfidence.

In Joe Biden’s home state, where the Biden name is feared and the Biden family has been royalty for 50 years, a jury of 12 ordinary Delawareans sitting in a courthouse in Wilmington judged the evidence honestly, ignored the intimidating presence of the first lady and found the president’s son guilty on all three felony gun charges.

For once, a Biden has been held accountable, although the gun charges were the least serious of the crimes considered by investigators in the troubled five-year financial probe of Hunter in Delaware.

The first son now faces a felony tax fraud trial in California in September but even there, the charges just skim the surface of the evidence and the links to Joe Biden’s corruption that investigators were blocked from pursuing.

Can’t cover it up

Hunter, 54, assumed his father’s power would protect him, as it has all his life.

But he could have avoided the jury’s verdict and the collateral damage to his father’s presidential campaign if only he had accepted for once some minimal responsibility for his wrongdoing, if he had not instructed his lawyers to demand blanket immunity and threaten prosecutors with “career suicide.”

Hunter still has not admitted ownership of the laptop that formed the backbone of the prosecution case as Government Exhibit 16.

That’s the same laptop Joe Biden lied about when he told the American people before the 2020 election that it was a “Russian plant,” the same laptop that the “Dirty 51” former intelligence officials lied was Russian disinformation, the same laptop that Facebook and Twitter tried to hide by censoring the New York Post.

They went to such lengths because they knew that what was on that laptop was so detrimental to candidate Biden that it would cost him the election.

Now they refuse to admit their lies because that would mean admitting that they interfered with that election.

But now that the evidence has been laid bare in court about Hunter’s chaotic, crack-addicted life during his father’s vice presidency, it is impossible for the president’s protectors to avoid the truth of why the Chinese and Ukrainians paid his son millions of dollars.

They weren’t paying for Hunter’s business acumen.

They were paying for his father’s favor.

Whistleblowers win

There would have been no guilty verdict, no gun trial, no indictment on tax fraud, and not even last year’s ill-fated sweetheart plea deal if two IRS whistleblowers had not risked their livelihoods to do the right thing.

For IRS Supervisory Agent Gary Shapley, it was a bitter irony to hear special counsel David Weiss thanking Attorney General Merrick Garland Tuesday for giving him the “independence” to pursue the investigation into Hunter.

That independence only came after Shapley and his fellow IRS whistleblower Joe Ziegler lawfully told Congress last year about the obstruction and slow-walking of the investigation under then-Delaware US Attorney Weiss. Garland testified to Congress that Weiss had full authority to pursue charges against Hunter, but that wasn’t the case.

Weiss passively allowed Biden appointees in California and Washington, DC, to refuse to partner with Delaware to bring charges, and then he allowed the statute of limitations to run out on the most serious allegations from 2014 and 2015.

Only when Shapley and Ziegler blew the whistle did Weiss and Hunter’s lawyers stitch together an absurdly generous plea deal that fell apart under the scrutiny of an honest judge in Delaware.

Only then did Garland grant Weiss the independence of special counsel status so he could do damage control.

Shapley and Ziegler went back to Congress again after Hunter testified to the Biden impeachment inquiry in February, providing the House Ways and Means Committee with evidence that the first son lied under oath at least three times.

Their evidence formed the basis for a criminal referral to the DOJ last week by House Republicans recommending the prosecution of Hunter and his uncle James Biden for lying to Congress. Another test for Garland.

‘The right thing’

“This is what happens when people do the right thing,” said Shapley of Tuesday’s guilty verdict.

“This is what happens when you shine light on the darkness. But it shouldn’t have required two people to risk their livelihoods.”

Hunter’s tax trial in September, just weeks before the election, poses a greater political risk to the president because the indictment includes evidence from 2014 and 2015, which covers the Burisma years when Hunter was paid $1 million a year by the corrupt Ukrainian energy company while his father was vice ­president.

It covers Joe ordering the Ukrainian government to fire the honest Ukrainian prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Burisma.

The pressure on Hunter to take a plea deal will be enormous.

The president will likely spin Hunter’s gun conviction as a testament to his own integrity and humble acceptance of the jury verdict, in contrast to Donald Trump’s complaint that he is the victim of a two-tiered justice system.

But nobody buys Joe’s claim that he will not use his power to pardon his son. If his presidency has taught us anything, it is that his “word as a Biden” is ­worthless.

Great website to book for your airfares

Easy to use although the price changed when I was paying for my booking, so I rebooked and the price came out the same as before. Despite the glitch, this travel site is great and you pay a much lower fare and from past experience help is always available when you call them.

Have used travel-up before... fantastic service at a great price

3-5 day waiting period for a refund is a myth.

Waiting for a refund that has not emerged After booking and immediately cancelling the flight because of the 20hr stopover that was not visible pre booking. Please be careful. On enquiry the TravelUp operator was not polite and I have been fobbed off. If the payment doesn't come within the next 2 days ( up to 4 days AFTER the waiting period for refunds) I will let Trust Pilot know.

DO NOT USE TRAVELUP!

I return flight from Bangui with Ethiopian Airlines was rescheduled at the last minute so I was unable to join the flight. Ethiopian granted a refund for the sector which had to be reimbursed to me via Travelup who booked the ticket. Travelup are refusing to reimburse me for the funds due, claiming only a small amount is available and that most of it goes in 'admin fees' to issue the refund. This isn't in the terms of either Ethiopian or Travelup! Avoid booking flights with this company, just pay more to go with someone reputable!

Terrible & Unreliable Customer Service

I hope writing here will make the customer service respond to my query. I purchased a multi-stop ticket with TravelUp and, the next day, called to change my ticket as I can no longer travel to Cairo. I spoke with customer service four times, and each time I was told I would receive a call back within two hours. Unfortunately, no one has contacted me, and I feel completely ignored. This is a very frustrating experience, and I urge you to rectify this issue immediately.

There has been a lot of criticism of President Ruto's foreign travel. In the last 3o days, he has been to the USA and Korea and is about to go to Italy for the G7 meeting.

Some of this criticism is misguided.

He is flying the flag for Kenya and is putting Kenya on the international map. He has secured investment commitments such as the $500 million committed by South Korea for the Konza technocity.

In the last year, Kenya has spent Sh12 billion on domestic travel compared to Sh6 billion on international travel. We are spending far more on jaunts by local politicians than on trips by the President.

But appearances matter.

The substantial tax rises in the Finance Bill are not popular with voters. It would look better if the President tightened his belt on foreign trips. 

He does not need to travel with a huge entourage. Ruto travelled with 31 people (not counting his wife and her people) to the USA. Did those governors and MPs really need to be there with him?

So let President Ruto continue his trips abroad but let him cut down on the people who travel with him.

Naperville sun opinion | vickroy: my father wasn’t a rich man but what he gave me can’t be calculated in dollars and cents.

Men who sacrificed for their country, men who advanced science or society, men who served on boards, volunteered or changed the world — all while being dads.

Of course, these fathers deserve every accolade. But so do the bootstrap dads who maybe started with nothing, who maybe didn’t finish high school, and whose definition of heroics was to simply work hard, dream big and learn from their mistakes.

My dad was a worker, a hard worker. Not because he enjoyed truck driving but because his family needed every dime, and then some. He always took the overtime and, often, had a side gig on weekends.

Most of my early memories of my dad are of him leaving for work or coming home exhausted. He always wore a cap and he always carried a thermos. He was tired, even in his 30s.

It seemed he was always toiling at something and brow-beating us to do the same. Much the way parents today bury their kids in sports or music activities to keep them from walking on the wild side, he buried us in work.

How we handled our work spoke volumes about our character. If our task was to sweep the floor, we swept it with gusto.

He’d wake us early on Saturdays to clean the house or the garage or help him repair whatever damage a houseful of kids had caused that week. There was always something to be done. And, yes, when there wasn’t time to do that work right, there was always time to do it over.

While my friends were lounging in front of TV cartoons or out riding their bikes, we were working. Even when he wasn’t home, there were chore lists to be completed.

Sometimes we hated him for that.

But every now and then, he’d call us to pile into the car because we were heading to Playland or the roller rink or the zoo. He insisted we have a swing set, a dog and a backyard pool, even though he really couldn’t afford any of it.

After my grandmother moved to Florida, we began annual treks to Daytona Beach. A few times, my dad organized a caravan of friends and relatives — a fleet of station wagons — who made the journey south, stopping at Hen Houses, Lookout Mountain and Rock City.

I loved those trips. Fun seems so much more restorative when it’s sandwiched between tasks.

As soon as we were old enough, he began to nag about the importance of paid work. All six of his children were employed by age 15.

It seemed we were often berated for not working hard enough. “You can’t leave at 9 and get there at 9,” he’d say. Or, “Don’t do extra, you might make something of yourself,” which of course implied we weren’t enough already.

For most of my youth, I resented what seemed like the weight of the world on my shoulders. Much later in life he confessed that work was the only way he knew to keep us from getting into trouble, to keep us from repeating some of his mistakes.

Once, during my turbulent adolescence, he caught me at a local park with some questionable friends, some of whom had sneaked beer out of their homes. He had no problem breaking up the group, embarrassing the heck out of me and threatening to rat out each of my buds.

I was mortified. Later, he came to my room, sat down and told me about some of the horrors he’d seen happen to people who were careless.

He told me about his dream for me to go to college, to “make something of myself.” He also told me then that he’d once had dreams too. That he wanted to someday live in a big house on a hill. Stupid mistakes, he said, get in the way of your dreams.

He said he knew I was smart enough to not let that happen but he wondered if I was strong enough to not let others influence me to the extent that it would happen anyway. True friends, he said, elevate you, they make you better and they absolutely keep you safe.

It made me think. And that is the greatest gift my father gave me — the ability and the willingness to be thoughtful.

Growing up, my father often got lost in the mix of his very large family. He wandered onto questionable paths early. He was a still a child when he began raising a family of his own.

He often fumbled. But he also said, “Smart means learning from your mistakes.”

He was wise in that sense. He also was brave and funny and compassionate and never, ever above apologizing. He was often a mediator for family troubles, even standing up to his own brother during the elder man’s bouts of alcoholic rage and abuse.

When my mother was ill and in a nursing home for nearly a year, he was at her side every single day, even after his car was towed because he’d parked in a snow zone.

He was quietly generous, often when he couldn’t afford to be. Again and again, he made room in our tiny bungalow for relatives in need. After he passed, I found stacks of receipts of donations he made to the church, to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, to the American Cancer Society, to local politicians and to family members.

Hard as he worked for so long, he never got that big house on a hill. His final chapter was spent in a nursing home, a cold, impersonal place where many of the employees not only didn’t care about him, they didn’t seem to care about their work, which for him was the greater sin.

I wish there could have been a better way. I wish he’d made an end-of-life plan and that immobility hadn’t forced his hand. I wish he’d gotten his dream house.

Mostly, I wish the world had not been such a hard place for him. But I am oh-so-grateful that he made it softer for me. I had opportunities my father only dreamed of, partly because of luck but mostly because I knew how to work hard.

My dad did what every generation of parents tries to do: He elevated the opportunities for those who came next.

He was a good dad.

And that’s deserving of praise.

E-ticketing is a 'paper-less' way to book flights. Once you've made your booking, it's stored electronically in the airline reservation system. Travelup will send you a confirmation email with your booking reference number, which serves as a receipt for your e-ticket. You will NOT receive a physical 'e-ticket' or paper tickets to present at the airport. We recommend that you take a printout of your confirmation email with you, although many airlines won't ask to see this.

When you check in at the airport, just show airline staff a form of identification along with your booking reference number and they'll issue you with your boarding pass. A booking reference number (also known as a PNR number or a Flight reference number) is a 6-character combination of numbers and letters, eg YG9TY4.

With e-ticketing, some airlines require you to pre-select the form of identification you will present at the airport, during the booking process. If so, you must take this form of ID with you to check-in. However if we don’t ask you to pre-select your form of identification during booking, all you will need is your passport or the credit/debit card you booked with, and your booking reference number.

Can I change the details of my booking?

Yes, details can be changed on a booking, however what can be changed, and the costs involved vary depending on what has been booked.

If you wish to amend a booking / order or wish to enquire if a specific change can be made, then please fill in the Contact Us form and submit your change or enquiry. We will then be able to check the booking details and get back to you as soon as possible to advise if the amendment is possible and if it will incur a refund or additional charge, typical amendment fees start from £75 pounds in addition to the charge levied by the supplier, all fees will be advised prior to any amendment occurring.

Can I pre-book my flight seats?

Unfortunately not all airlines will let you pre-book your flight seats, however if you have specific needs and require certain seating arrangements this can be done directly with the airline. Our reservations team will be able to provide you with a reference number for your airline seat booking.

How do I cancel my Flight ticket?

Lower priced tickets are mostly non-refundable, but in some cases airlines will charge a cancellation fee if you wish to cancel your booking. In addition Travelup will charge an administration fee of £75 per person. For this reason we recommend that you take out adequate travel insurance before booking. All cancellations must be sent in writing to [email protected] or via post.

My name is spelt incorrectly on my flight ticket, what can I do?

It is not possible to change your name on an airline ticket. The ticket will have to be cancelled and a new ticket will need to be issued (cancellation penalties will apply). When booking, please review your information carefully and ensure that the name of each passenger is entered correctly. If there is a minor error after you have placed a booking, please use the Contact Us form to alert us of the correct spelling. We will need to contact the airline to request a name change and we cannot guarantee that they will be able to make the change.

How long does it take to process a refund for my Flight?

Most tickets are non-changeable/non-refundable. If you would like to cancel your booking or have an enquiry please email us by filling in and submitting the Contact Us form. Refunds can take 8-12 weeks if we need to speak with the airline.

ESTA regulations for USA travel

All passengers travelling to the USA under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) (ie can enter America without a visa) require an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). This includes all passengers in transit who are using the VWP to change planes in the USA en-route to another country.

U.S Customs and Border Protection have changed the procedure in applying for an ESTA and real-time approvals are no longer available.

Obtaining online authorisation (known as an ESTA) can be done online at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov . Filling in the form should take about 15-20 minutes. International travellers applying for an ESTA for travel to the United States should apply as soon as possible and no less than 72 hours before departure. Note, travellers don't need to have firm travel plans to apply for authorisation but are required to state where they are staying during their trip.

It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure they have made their application and have the authority to travel beforehand.

Once this information has been successfully submitted, it will be run against appropriate law enforcement databases. If granted, ESTA authorisation will be valid for two years (or until the traveller's passport expires) as well as for multiple entries to the USA. For each new visit you must update your ESTA information about your flights and where you will be staying.

The USA Department of Homeland Security will then archive the information for 12 years - allowing it to be retrieved should any law enforcement investigation require it.

All passengers travelling under the VWP who do not have ESTA authorisation will not be permitted entry onto any flight by their carrier. We therefore highly recommend that travellers apply for their ESTA as soon as they've made arrangements for travel to the US.

If you need a visa to enter or transit through the USA, you don't need to apply for an ESTA.

Is my holiday protected if my chosen airline goes under?

If you purchased your flights with a credit card and the transaction is over £100, then in most cases you will be reimbursed by your card provider. Please check with your bank or financial institution.

Other flights bought on their own (ie not in a package) are not ATOL protected. Please check with your travel insurance company to see whether this will be refunded. You should also check with your travel insurance provider about reimbursement for hotel or car hire bookings you've been unable to use due to airline failure.

What is a one-way combinable, and how can I benefit from it?

Travelup has launched technology allowing you to fly out with one airline and back with another, which could save you money. For example, a return flight to New York with one airline may cost £300. However, it might be £100 one-way with one airline and £170 with another the other way - saving you £30.

Being able to combine flights from different airlines also gives you more flexibility on flying times.

You will notice one-way combinables coming up in your search results if you do not select the option to fly with a specific airline. There are some considerations involved though, so please bear the following in mind when booking a one-way combinable flight:

One-way combinables are two separate bookings (although you pay for them in one transaction), therefore if one of the flights is cancelled, the other airline has no obligation to refund for the other leg of your journey.

Similarly, if schedule changes on your outbound route mean that you can’t catch your return flight, the second airline has no obligation to provide an alternative flight. One-way combinable flights may therefore not be suitable if you are planning to fly out and return on the same day.

How do I receive my tickets?

All flights booked on Travelup are now e-ticketed, with the booking stored electronically. You will not receive paper tickets for any flight bookings, nor will you receive any electronic 'tickets'.

When checking in for your flight, airline staff will use the identification (such as your passport) you present to look up your booking, and will then issue your boarding cards at the check-in desk. Changes to hand baggage restrictions

The information below is a guide only, please check the Department for Transport website which will have all of the most recent updates. Make sure you also check with your airline which may have different rules. If you are catching connecting flights, you should be aware of airport restrictions regarding carry-on luggage at other airports during your journey.

Below is a guide to the requirements that will be in place as well as advice to help passengers pass through the security check as quickly as possible.

Some liquids will be allowed once again through airport security check points. There will, however, be restrictions on the quantity of liquids that can be taken through.

Passengers may carry small quantities of liquids, but only within separate containers, each of which with a capacity not greater than 100ml.

These containers must be brought to the airport contained in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag, which itself must not exceed 1 litre in capacity (approximately 20cms x 20cms). The contents of the plastic bag must fit comfortably and the bag sealed. Each passenger may carry only one such bag of liquids.

The bag must be presented for examination at the airport security point.

Liquids that cannot be placed inside the re-sealable bag must be packed into the hold luggage and checked in. Liquids of any amount can still be carried in luggage checked into the aircraft hold.

*All drinks, including water, soup, syrups

*Creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, mascara etc

*Sprays and pressurized containers including shaving foam and spray deodorants

*Pastes, including toothpastes

*Gels, including hair and shower gel

*Any other solutions and items of similar consistency

Essential medicines and baby food may be permitted in larger quantities above the 100ml limit, but will be subject to the authentication that is already currently required.

Each passenger is restricted to carrying only one item (in addition to the re-sealable liquids bag) through the airport search point with a maximum size of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. The weight of the bag may vary from airline to airline.

Pushchairs, walking aids and wheelchairs are permitted but will be screened.

Laptops and other large electrical items (e.g. a large hairdryer) will still have to be removed from cabin baggage and screened separately. A laptop bag will be regarded as your one item that is allowed in the cabin.

All items of luggage which do not fit in the permitted cabin baggage size (maximum length 56 cm, width of 45 cm and depth of 25 cm) must be checked in to be placed in the aircraft hold. Musical instruments will, as an exception, be allowed as a second item of cabin baggage, but will need to be screened and passengers should check with their airlines if special arrangements (e.g. purchasing an extra seat) for these large instruments will be required.

Passengers are asked to bear in mind the following advice to help make their passage through the airport as efficient and comfortable as possible:

*Limit quantities to what you may need in the cabin for the duration of the flight.

*When possible, put liquids in hold baggage.

*Prepare the re-sealable bag of liquids before arriving at the airport.

*Check any queries you have with your airport or airline before travelling to the airport.

Be ready to hand over your re-sealable bag of liquids for screening as you approach the security check point. It will be screened at the same time as your cabin luggage.

All coats and jackets will have to be removed ready to be screened and metal items including wallets will be placed in plastic trays and scanned separately.

If you are carrying a Laptop or any other large electrical item within your cabin luggage then please have it ready for separate screening as you approach the security check.

Duty free / departure lounge purchases may take on board liquid items of any size that are purchased after the security check in the departure lounge (sometimes referred to as 'Airside'). Duty free or similar purchases will be given to you in a special sealed bag. Do not open this bag until you have reached your final destination. You should also retain your proof of purchase throughout your journey. You will be required to show it at all transfer points. Please note: restrictions apply to duty free purchases made on return journeys where passengers change flights at an EU airport.

Travelling from an airport in the EU, Norway, Iceland or Switzerland: The arrangements outlined above will apply, except that larger cabin bags will be permitted on a transitional basis until April 2007.

If your journey involves changing flights at any EU airport, special restrictions apply. You may only take duty free purchases through the security check point at your connecting airport if they have been purchased at another EU airport, or on board an aircraft operated by an EU carrier. You will need to show proof of purchase to demonstrate this. Purchases from other airports or on board other airlines may only be carried as hold baggage on the connecting flight.

What is my baggage allowance?

If you have a paper ticket for your flight, the baggage allowance will be displayed on the bottom right corner of your ticket. If you have an e-ticket, please check with your airline or view the links below.

Passengers travelling Economy Class are usually permitted a maximum allowance of 20 kg (44 lbs) and passengers travelling Business Class a maximum of 30kg (66 lbs) without extra charge.

These weight restrictions apply to most airlines operating to and from all countries with the exception of the United States and Canada, where passengers may check in two pieces of luggage that do not exceed 158 cm (length + width + height) each.

Most airlines will not accept individual items of baggage weighing over 32kg (70 lbs). The individual bag limit does not affect the total baggage weight allowance set by your airline. Passengers who need to check in items exceeding the 32kg/70 lbs weight limit, such as sporting equipment, should make special arrangements with their airline in advance.

Travelup recommends that all passengers check the weight of their bag before leaving for the airport, as you may be asked to re-pack your bag if it exceeds 32kg.

Fixing the Calamity in U.S. Math Knowledge Starts With Algebra

The federal government made a disastrous choice a decade ago when it abandoned an accountability system (known as No Child Left Behind) that required schools to focus intently on helping the lowest-performing students catch up with their peers. Since then, the already alarming achievement gaps that separate poor and wealthy children have only widened.

Math scores have plummeted, raising fears that the United States is destined to fall permanently behind its competitor nations when it comes to preparing young people for careers in science, technology and engineering.

As Troy Closson of The Times wrote this week , some school systems have opted for policies that disguise the achievement gap without remedying it. A decade ago, for example, the San Francisco public schools responded to high failure rates and achievement gaps by moving algebra — which is foundational to the study of math — from eighth grade to ninth grade, meaning that no one was allowed to take the course in eighth grade simply because some students struggled with it.

This system wrote off poor students who might have benefited from exposure to new material and denied well-prepared children the opportunity to forge ahead in their studies. Not surprisingly, the policy failed to achieve its central goal, which was to close racial gaps in the taking of advanced math courses. Chastened by parental outrage, San Francisco reversed course .

Only about a quarter of American students study algebra in eighth grade . That proportion needs to grow. Fortunately a few states, including North Carolina and Texas , are adopting systems under which children who meet specified performance levels on state exams are automatically channeled into advanced math classes.

In Dallas there are no hoops to jump through. As The Dallas Morning News reported last year , young people no longer have to wait for counselors to recommend them or for parents who know little about how schools operate to sign them up. Students who were unaware that honors courses even existed are now being enrolled.

The gravest challenge facing the country today is redressing the devastating learning losses that children suffered during the Covid pandemic. Among other things, solving this problem will mean equipping teachers to manage classrooms that include students of different preparation levels.

One new study offers reason for optimism. It shows that students who would ordinarily be tracked into remedial work can perform well in algebra classes that include higher-performing peers — and experience broader academic success — when teachers are trained to handle heterogeneous groups and are given more time to prepare.

A 73-year-old British man died of a suspected heart attack and dozens were hospitalized including those with spinal, brain and bone or organ damages. Nineteen people remained hospitalized in Bangkok.

Singapore Airlines said it has offered $10,000 in compensation for passengers with minor injuries.

“For those who sustained more serious injuries from the incident, we have invited them to discuss a compensation offer to meet each of their specific circumstances when they feel well and ready to do so,” it said in a statement.

Those medically assessed to have sustained serious injuries, requiring long-term medical care and requesting financial assistance will receive an advance payment of $25,000 for their immediate needs, it said. “This will be part of the final compensation that these passengers will receive,” it said.

Singapore Airlines' turbulence incident offers a lesson to all in the business, says Emirates president

Turbulence-hit singapore airlines flight fell 54 meters in less than five seconds, investigation finds.

The airline said it will also provide full air fare refunds to all passengers on the flight, including those without any injuries. All passengers will also receive delay compensation in accordance with European Union or U.K. regulations, it said.

The airline added that it had already given all passengers 1,000 Singapore dollars ($739) each for their immediate needs, covered medical expenses of injured passengers, and arranged for their family members and loved ones to fly up to Bangkok where requested.

A preliminary investigation by Singapore's Transport Ministry said the plane went through huge swings in g-force in less than five seconds, likely causing the injuries to people who weren’t buckled into their seats. It said the jet dropped 178 feet (54 meters) in less than one second, which “likely resulted in the occupants who were not belted up to become airborne” before falling back down.

Officials said the turbulence was believed to have struck when meals were being served and many people were not using seat belts. Passengers have described the “ sheer terror ” of the aircraft shuddering, loose items flying and injured people lying paralyzed on the floor of the plane.

It was unclear what caused the turbulence. Most people associate turbulence with heavy storms, but the most dangerous type is so-called clear air turbulence. Such turbulence can occur in wispy cirrus clouds or even in clear air near thunderstorms, as differences in temperature and pressure create powerful currents of fast-moving air.

According to a 2021 report by the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, turbulence accounted for 37.6% of all accidents on larger commercial airlines between 2009 and 2018. The Federal Aviation Administration has said there were 146 serious injuries from turbulence from 2009 to 2021.

I have never been so disrespected like…

I have never been so disrespected like I have with this company!!! Do not book with them!!!!! Extremely unprofessional employees!!! False information!!! And are not willing to help !!! I got hung up on 4 times!!!! With no explanation to why my reservation was pending!!! Then after getting hung up on 3 more times they told me I couldn’t make same days reservation and they’ll issue a refund in 2 days!!!!! No where on the website does it say “no same day reservations” they refuse to put a supervisor the refuse to listen to me. I was left with no money and my kids and In the streets!!!! Overcharged and felt betrayed.

I checked the ticket price on Skyscanner. I choose the airline and price. It took me to travel up.com The price shown on Skyscanner was around £970 but travelup charged me £1034. It is so deceitful. I was so disgusted. I will never use this site again. I Would be staying away from this Travelup.

All good until you need the help of the customer service team!

I have used Travel Up before with no issues. However on this occasion the airline we were due to travel with cancelled our flight and offered us an alternative flight that was a full 48 hours after our original flight. The customer service I received from Travel Up on this occasion was pretty poor. They were slow to respond, their emails were riddled with mistakes (on one occasion they nearly booked me on a flight that was going to be 3 days after our original departure date by mistake!), there was an unacceptably long delay with sending through my updated e-tickets. This all meant that it took a full week for my updated flights to be sorted which caused me a huge amount of stress not to mention wasted time in repeated emails and phone calls. In a nutshell, they are good enough when everything goes smoothly, but if there is an issue with your flights and you need the support of the customer service team, then woe betide you!

BEWARE! BOOK DIRECT WITH THE AIRLINE!

BEWARE! Booked a flight for seven people, realised I had booked the return date incorrectly, one day out. I emailed travelup within 10 minutes of booking and called them straight away to change it over. They wanted £75 per person to change the date despite the flights costing the same on both days. They discounted it down to £150 for the seven and sent me a 30 minutes link telling me that after that they won't change it and they won't be responsible anymore. Extremely poor customer service, hidden charges, basically a con company praying on people's mistakes. Over 4k in flights, yhe worst customer service I have ever experienced and I'm not even close to boarding yet! Hopefully the tickets actually show up and the plane doesn't leave without us! BE WARNED! BOOK DIRECT WITH THE AIRLINE!

Worst Travel Agent with a lot of hidden terms...

Travel Up is the worst company with numerous hidden terms and conditions. They refuse to provide refunds even when the British Airways refunded it. I booked a British Airways flight that got delayed, and I canceled it as it was eligible for a refund. Although the airline confirmed the refund, Travel Up did not issue it. Instead, they offered me a £20 voucher for a £250 ticket. Avoid using Travel Up at all costs; they are nothing but scammers.

Charged when airline cancels flight.

If the airline cancels, they will keep £50 of your refund as a "cancellation fee". They did it to me and it's written explicitly in their T+Cs. Book direct instead: For all bookings. Please note, the booking fee you pay to us when placing your booking (please see clause 7.6 for more information) is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of your chosen Travel Arrangements together with an administration fee of £50 per booking (unless you have purchased a service pack, in which case the administration fee payable will be as per the terms of your chosen service pack).
