It’s that time of year when everyone is hitting the indoor trainer, at least in the Northern Hemisphere, and avatar fashion becomes a hot topic. Welcome to this season’s fashion picks from the World of Zwift. The top 10 kits are outlined below, divided into four categories; team kits (4), challenge kits (2), unlock kits (2) and special mentions (2).

RELATED: How to Handle the Start of a Zwift Race

Cycling teams, just like in-real-life (IRL), are an important part of the Zwift racing scene. The emergence of the highly competitive  Zwift Racing League (ZRL) , presented by  WTRL , has further solidified the presence of teams on Zwift. Over 10,000 team members come together every week to race, showing genuine comradery, even though most teams have never met each other IRL and come from all reaches of the globe. If your team is prevalent enough in the racing scene you will be given the chance to have a custom jersey in-game. The ones listed below represent the top four:

Not only does this team have a great kit, but they have a great cause too. It is a group exclusively for Zwift riders connected to Type 1 diabetes (e.g., a person with Type 1 Diabetes or a parent, grandparent etc. of someone with the condition). The kit is smooth with clean-cut lines of royal blue and white—stunning in its simplicity. Next time you see this kit out on Zwift be sure to give that rider a big “RIDE ON.”

A huge shout out to Tina Grobler from Team Velo who designed their new kit in 2022, and wow is it a stunner! The jersey brings in themes from the northern lights and is nicely offset with the block-colored blue shorts. The geometric blue and green cuffs of jersey and shorts bring it all together. Paired with the blue Tron wheels this is just a symphony of style.

Team Rhino Racing

trek zwift kit

The Rhinos were born out a mutual love of fair-but-hard racing, pushing each other to go faster and stronger. As a competitive team, they have created maybe one of the most competitive kits in the style department this year. It is unique, it is striking, it is one that everyone wants in their Zwift garage. Stylized rhinos in light purple are the feature of the jersey, and the hot pink writing and logos really stand out. Match this kit with the Off the MAAP pink headband and the pink Tron bike for a truly epic look.

PTz is one of the OG kits on Zwift and definitely has a stand-out retro style. This could be a polarizing kit with the block rainbow design in simplistic colors, but sometimes simple is what you need to look good. Black shorts are a classic and balance out the rainbow well. Simple, basic, and beautiful, all define this kit.

Challenge Kits

Zwift is all about the challenges:They keep you motivated, keep you fit, and most importantly you will usually find a fresh new piece of kit in your  Zwift Garage  on completion. Below are my two favorite challenge kits (and unfortunately if you missed the challenge, it is very hard, near impossible, to get these in your garage at a later time):

Tour of Makuri Islands Kit

trek zwift kit

In 2021, Zwift released a new land called the Makuri Islands—originally made up of Yumezi, then adding Neokyo and finally in late 2022 Urukazi was launched. By far the most beautiful world in Zwift with cherry blossoms, island roads, and a neon wonderland, the kit you get through the Tour of Makuri Islands is likewise just as striking. Different shades of pink offset with aquamarine green really do look stunning and out of all the Zwift tour kits is quickly becoming a fan favorite.

Lederhosen Kit

trek zwift kit

The Zwift Pretzelfest in October 2022 coincided with the IRL Octoberfest, and it involved A LOT of climbing—but more importantly an amazing jersey unlock with the Lederhosen kit. I’m not sure many people would dare to wear this IRL, but in-game it is unique and eye-catching. A traditional Lederhosen transformed into a cycling kit with every detail captured, like the edelweiss sitting in the back pocket. Paired with a vintage bike, leather shoes, and the traditional hat, it is an absolute winner.

Unlock Kits

These kits are ones that only become available when certain levels or distances are achieved in-game.  Everyone has access to these but it does take a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to unlock the best ones.

Level 52 Retro Kit unlock

trek zwift kit

In 2022 Zwift added levels 51-60, which gives us the excitement of a whole lot of new kit unlocks! One of the best by far is the 1980s April Fools kit you get at Level 52. This kit was actually seen in-game for only one day back in 2020 (April 1st) and it has been on the must-have garage list ever since. A mash-up of yellows, pinks, and blues could turn into a vomit-inducing haze for the eyes, but instead it comes together in just the right way to look bright, stylish, and fast.

Rapha Festive 500 Kit unlock

trek zwift kit

Every year cyclists from all over the globe try to ride 500km between Christmas and New Year—a challenge called the Festive 500. Many take to Zwift to complete this and Rapha came on board to support those taking on the challenge with virtual group rides. More importantly you could also unlock a sweet jersey in-game. The purples, the pinks, the mash-up of straight lines, curves and grids make this jersey so unique and incredibly sought after.

Special Mentions

The betty design jersey.

trek zwift kit

Betty Design has always been at the height of fashion in real-life triathlon and that flair for style has been transformed into an amazing Zwift jersey. Kristin Mayer, the founder of Betty Design, brings together fashion and surf culture in a stunning piece that encapsulates the ethos that women can be both strong and beautiful. The trademark scull and crossbones with butterfly wings is the centerpiece on a wild, colorful kit that screams “radness.” For this one you’ve got to take part in some of the Betty Designs badass workouts, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Watch the Femmes

trek zwift kit

This year will go down in history as one of the biggest in women’s cycling, due in large part to the Tour de France Femme avec Zwift. To celebrate the race Zwift had a #watchthefemme event series and the jersey unlock was incredible. Bright, bright, bright would be the best way to describe this jersey. Orange, yellow, and pink splashed across the jersey with mountain-shaped motifs on the back, it stands out and stands up for women’s cycling.

Anna Russell is a prolific Zwifter with an avid eye for avatar fashion. Anna co-hosts the weekly podcast ‘ The Wrap ’, rounding up all things Zwift from racing to community guests to fashion. When not riding, she also commentates and produces for Zwift and Zwift Community Live. You’ll find her on the virtual roads almost every day, clocking up the miles while her three young children sleep.

Trek-Segafredo kit missing from my garage [July 2021]

Looks like the latest update 1.15.0 (1.0.75178) (July 19 2021) deleted the Trek/Segafredo training kit awarded from the Trek-Segafredo Mission from 2017. Bug or intentional?

@Tim_Isle_TREKWayne Weird. We’re looking into that. By any chance, do you know other Zwifters who earned this kit? Wondering if this is more widespread, or it something’s up with your account.

@Tim_Isle_TREKWayne

We did a little digging and you’re right. We’re going to restore this kit in next month’s major release (1.16.0). Sorry about that, and thanks in advance for your patience.

me too. I hope fix it.

same for me! Glaad to see it will return

Mine’s gone too

Yes my Trek kit is missing to.

Yes looking forward to having it back. Wearing it since 2017

Here the same! I was in contact with Zwift Support. But even after several emails I was not helped.

The kit was added back a bit ago. This is likely a separate issue.

zwift levels and drops

One of the impressive aspects of Zwift is its ability to retain users on the platform. The incorporation of Zwift Levels serves as a powerful tool in enhancing user engagement on the platform.

So we thought we’d map out exactly what they are and what you get for hitting them.

First off, there’s a lot here. Tables, recommendations, video etc. So to make it easier just check out the contents below.

Zwift Levels Introduction

Right now, there are 50 rider levels in Zwift. When you join, you begin at level 1 and get promoted to higher levels by accumulating XP (experience) points for every mile/ km you ride or workout blocks.

When riding, your current Zwift level is displayed at the top of the screen next to speed, distance, elevation, and ride time. So it’s always in your face.

A progress bar is underneath, showing how far you have until the next level. So you can always focus on the next stage.

Fortunately, moving up through the levels brings you rewards besides the higher number.

What’s the deal with Zwift Levels?

Ok, this is a personal view here. But generally speaking, no one is going to know if you have a low level.

However, what leveling does is give you access to various rewards. Also, many of the best wheel and framesets are restricted to higher-level riders.

There are also some areas with level requirements, Alpe du Zwift being for Level 12s and over.

How to get through the Levels on Zwift – XP points

Points are added for every km (20 XP) or mile (30 XP) you ride. Yes, that’s right. It is better to use kilometers regardless of your position on imperial or metric levels. You get XP over 7% faster that way.

If you want more detail, here’s Zwift’s own take on XP and Zwift Levels .

1 mile equals 1.61 kilometers. If points were awarded equally between imperial and metric, it should be 20 XP per km and 32.2 XP per mile. That’s a 7% difference. So do km.

The exception to this is workout mode. Here points are based on interval type, length, and completion.

There are also XP points available for bonus power-ups and 10 points for going through a banner on a time trial bike. Lastly, you get them to get route badges.

For more tips, go to the 107 Indoor Cycling and Zwift Tips – the Ulitmate Guide.

Get more XP to get through the levels more quickly

In essence, the only way you are going to get through the Zwift levels is by riding. But here are some ways to expedite the process.

  • Avoid the hills and go for flatter routes. This is a numbers game. The more mile (I mean km) you rack up, the more points you get. That said, if you need to do hills for the Everest Challenge, then make sure you do the downhills too get back the distance. Even if you’re just rolling down.
  • Earn badges. This one is sometimes forgotten as many people like riding events, training, or have their own fave route. Getting badges for different courses such as Road to the Ruins is just free XP points. And some badges are really easy to get.
  • Do group rides. This is a bit cheeky. But basically, get into a blob and ride around. You’ll cover more km that way that on your own.
  • Always get to the end of the km. It’s not much but don’t stop on 4.9km or whatever. Get the XP for that last km. It all counts.

Drop-Shop Zwift Levels - Points, Unlocks, and Great Bikes You Should Buy

Zwift Drops – the currency of Zwift

As you accumulate miles you’ll notice you are building up a bank of ‘drops’. You can see them build up in the blue panel in the rider dashboard.

You can spend them in the Drop Shop, which is accessed via the Zwift garage. Each one is worth the equivalent of $0.01. So although you have 5,000 of them, that won’t get you a $1000 set of wheels.

Most importantly though, you will need to have the appropriate level to get the kit. For example, get to Level 34 and you get the Felt AR frame – allegedly the 2nd fastest in Zwift.

There’s a ton of stuff to buy. But effectively, it gives you access to wheelsets and frames.

Drops are gained riding but some forms of activity produce more. Here is a very quick overview:

  • Climbing – the steeper and longer the better.
  • Distance – more miles gets you more drops as well as XP.
  • Ride Ons – so there’s method to giving everyone a ride on.

Best frames and wheels to buy with your Drops

This is not the place for a massive list. You can something at everything level – but lets not turn this post into a big table. There is already one of those below.

Here are mine and James’ favourite bike in the Drop Shop, which becomes available as you go through the levels on Zwift. You can assume we’ve been saving our Drops.

Up to Zwift level 10 – Vintage Kit

In terms of Rewards, there’s not a lot to choose from in the first 10 levels. However, the Oakleys are pretty decent at Level 10, as is the Vintage Kit at Level 8.

When it comes to the Drop Shop, there are some decent bikes available. It’s worth trying to hold off spending your drops until you’re at least on Level 5. It won’t take you long to get there.

Best Frames and Wheels Levels 1-10

Zwift aero frame – level 6.

zwift-aero Zwift Levels - Points, Unlocks, and Great Bikes You Should Buy

The first great frame you can access. It costs 319,500 Drops but it’s worth saving up. It will make an instant difference.

Mavic Cosmic Ultimate UST wheels – Level 9

Cost, 142,000 Drops. Just like on the bike, you can focus too much on the frame. These wheels are good all-rounders.

Up to Zwift Level 20 – Classy Kits

From Level 11 upwards you’re starting to have to ride a fair bit of distance to move up. A favourite Zwift Reward has to be the Digital Camo Jersey at Level 11. To get it you just have to ride 950km.

Or the Classy Kits pack at Level 18.

Best Frames and Wheels Levels 11-20

Specialized allez sprint frame – level 14.

Generally regarded as a solid frame. Is it better than the Zwift Aero? Maybe, but is it worth 127,800 Drops? The depends on whether you want to save up for something like…

Specialized Venge frame – Level 18

This is rated as one of the fastest frames in Zwift and it’s only 461,500 Drops. Personally, if you haven’t got one yet it’s because you haven’t reached the level.

Trek Madone Frame – Level 20

Seriously, try and get this one. It is one of the fastest frames in the game and the best in the first 25 levels – barring the Tron Bike , which is a completely different bag of tire levers. It costs over 865,000 Drops though, so get saving.

Zwift Level 21-30 – Oversize Glasses

Oversize glasses? You’d never wear them out on the road. But they look good here. Another piece of free kit is the S-Works shoes on level 27. Really though, you should be looking at some of the frames in the 20s levels.

Best frames and Wheels Level 21-30

Trek madone frame.

Really good climbing frame for this low down the levels. A definite one to get if you’re going for the Tron Bike. The Madone will set you back 887,500 Zwift Drops.

Zipp 454 wheels – Level 24

Very good climbing wheels and possibly the best you are likely to get before you hit the level 30+. And they’ll cost 284,000 Drops.

Zwift Levels 31-40 – seriously good kit in the Drop Shop

This where things get interesting. Some rather good frames start to appear, including possibly the best timetrial frame in Zwift.

Best frames and wheels Level 31-40

Enve ses 8.9 wheels – level 31.

These will cost 205,900 Drops for some seriously fast rims. Yes, there are others further up the levels but the higher you the longer it takes.

Specialized Venge S-Works frame – Level 33

Reputed to be the fastest frame in Zwift, this beauty will set you back just short of 799,000 Drops.

Felt IA frame – Level 37

The best time-trial bike in Zwift, according to reports. We have not tested this out. However, it will cost just over 1m Drops.

Zwift Levels 41-50 – the what you get at the end

Well here is an admission. I haven’t got to Level 50. But, if I had I would take genuine pride in getting the Level 50 kit. It’s probably the Tron Bike of kits.

Best wheels under Zwift Level 50

Zipp 858/super9 wheels – level 45.

Fastest wheels on Zwift (allegedly). Who know, I’m not even at that level yet. They will cost 1,508,800 Drops, costs in probably irrelevant by now. You should be Drop rich just to hit this level.

Concluding thoughts – the Kit is the Best thing

Final thoughts? The Drop Shop kit is really the thing. The bikes can make a fair difference – inasmuch as they do on the road.

And there’s the thing. They do make a difference and it’s quite good fun chopping and changing in the garage.

But if they made that much difference, what would be the point in riding. That’s where Zwift gets the balance right. No amount of kit will make you better than a stronger rider. The way it should be.

Keep Cycling

Just get on the bike - 1 hour or 20 minutes. It's all good.

ZWIFT’S NEW HUB ONE TRAINER MAKES IT EASIER TO JUMP INTO ZWIFT

New trainer expands compatibility through zwift cog and introduces virtual shifting.

Zwift, the global online fitness platform, is excited to launch Hub One, a new version of the original Zwift Hub Smart Trainer. The new Zwift Hub One is on sale today and makes it even easier to get on Zwift, works with almost any bike, and offers riders fast, smooth, and quiet virtual shifting that was previously only available on smart bikes.

Most visibly different about Zwift Hub One, compared to the original Hub trainer, is the Zwift Cog. In a departure from all previous direct drive trainers, Zwift Hub One replaces the standard cassette with the new Zwift Cog, a revolutionary single cog component that comes pre-installed and allows the trainer to work with almost any 8-12 speed bike. Thanks to its unique design, riders can put chain drops in the past as sides act as a chain retention device.

In addition to its wide compatibility, Zwift Hub One enables cyclists to take advantage of the many benefits of virtual shifting. Virtual shifting, normally only seen on smart bikes, is now available to those who prefer the value and convenience of a trainer. With virtual shifting, cyclists will enjoy shifting free of lag and chain skips, even when shifting under load. Modern smart bikes are now so quiet, the loudest noise when riding actually comes from the bike's physical drivetrain. With virtual shifting, much of this added noise is eliminated, leaving the rest of your house in peace while you sweat it out in the virtual world of Watopia.

Zwifters will control virtual shifts with the included wireless Zwift Click which easily mounts to any type of handlebar (road, flat, and TT) via two rubber O-Rings. Shifting is as straightforward as you would expect, with plus and minus buttons to shift the gear up or down. From launch, Zwift Hub One comes with 24 gears, offering a range wide enough to tackle any Zwift terrain with minimal jumps between gears.

ZWIFT_CLICK_COG_CLICK_ON_BARS_04.jpg

Zwift's Hub One trainer is ideally suited to a variety of different bikes, offering the same riding experience regardless of the bike you choose to install on it. To ensure consistency between bikes, Zwift Hub One is able to detect the gear ratios on your physical bike which allows it to set the virtual gears accordingly. It achieves this through a process called 'real gear ratio calibration.' The trainer does this within the first few seconds of of every ride automatically. Magic. In addition to delivering benefits to those with multiple bikes, real gear ratio calibration offers new benefits to riders using smaller chainrings, like those found on gravel and mountain bikes, preventing those riders from spinning out on flat or downhill terrain in Zwift.

KyleKelley_0820.jpg

Zwifters who already own a Hub will have two options that will allow them to unlock the benefits of virtual shifting. Once updated to Zwift Hub Firmware version 5.2, or newer, Zwifters who own Zwift Play can turn Virtual Shifting on from their setting menu. Side buttons on the Play Controllers allow for virtual shifting and also bring added benefits of improved game navigation plus steering and braking controls. Zwift Play is compatible with drop handlebars only and is available to purchase separately for $99/€99/£99 via Zwift.com.

For those wishing to upgrade their existing Zwift Hub units, a Zwift Cog + Zwift Click upgrade package will be available for purchase. Zwift Cog comes pre-installed on a freehub and installs easily with the tools included with Zwift Hub. The upgrade bundle will be available for $59.99/£59.99/€59.99 for a limited time after launch, to allow existing Zwift Hub owners to upgrade, down from the full MSRP of $79.99/£79.99/€79.99. The Zwift Play and Click can both be paired with Zwift at the same time, giving riders the option to shift from multiple locations on the handlebar.

In order to use Virtual Shifting,  Zwifters will also need to make sure Zwift is updated to version 1.50, which will be rolling out between Wednesday October 11 and Friday October 13.

Zwift Hub One is available for purchase today. Zwift Hub, with a choice of traditional 8-12 speed cassette, will continue to be sold under the new name, Zwift Hub Classic. Both trainers are priced at $599/€599/£549 and include one year of Zwift membership.

Trek-Segafredo reveal new men's and women's team kits for 2022

The American registered team has freshened up the old designs with a simple yet bright strip

  • Sign up to our newsletter Newsletter

Trek-Segafredo's 2022 kits

Trek-Segafredo has released the 2022 season kit for both the men's and women's teams.

Both kits have the same basic design but with the men sporting the mostly white jersey and black shorts with a red stripe, whereas with the women, it is the same only with a sky blue stripe, very much like one of the Team Sky jerseys of last decade.

The team also released a new pink training kit as they wave goodbye to their old fluo yellow look.

>>> Tom Pidcock aims for triple world championship title: 'I want to be world champion in all three, all in the same year'

This is the first time the two teams are sharing a design with the team saying: "For the first time ever, Trek-Segafredo’s male and female riders will share a look. Not exactly the same kit, but we’ll be rocking complementary colours for the 2022 season, all hand-made in Italy by our long-time partner Santini."

Modelling the men's kit is former world champion Mads Pedersen, Milan-San Remo winner Jasper Stuyven and former yellow jersey wearer Giulio Ciccone.

Trek-Segafredo

For the men they have finally moved away from what was a rather dull looking kit to something that is far fresher, where the old kit tried to be simplistic but came out dull, this jersey, in particular, looks classy.

Get The Leadout Newsletter

The women's kit has changed a fair bit over the last three years as it has gone from darker blues to lighter blue and now white with sky blue.

The kits are modelled by Paris-Roubaix winner Lizzie Deignan, Italian national champion Elisa Longo-Borghini and American rider Taylor Wiles.

Trek-Segafredo

The 2021 women's kit used a bold pattern, so this 2022 design represents a big change.

Rating 2021 kits, we only gave Trek-Segafrado 2/5 , citing the lack of change vs previous years as a reason for the low score. Perhaps the team took this to heart, and is seeking a higher score this year.

trek

In 2021 the men's and women's kits weren't similar at all - though they hadn't changed much vs the 2020 design

The jerseys are made out of discarded recycled fibres by Santini and are not made with polluting chemicals.

With all the kit being delivered in compostable bags to reduce plastic waste with kit for all weathers.

The team add: "Whilst we may not be reinventing the wheel, we think we’ve created two elegant yet striking kits which are unmistakably Trek. Our classic design is reminiscent of previous iterations of our racing kits, now with a fresh update for the future.

"The men’s and women’s kits retain their trademark red and light blue colours, respectively, which accent the jersey, bib shorts and socks. Bright Pirelli logos on the arms and back of the shorts completes the look."

Hi, I'm one of Cycling Weekly's content writers for the web team responsible for writing stories on racing, tech, updating evergreen pages as well as the weekly email newsletter. Proud Yorkshireman from the UK's answer to Flanders, Calderdale, go check out the cobbled climbs!

I started watching cycling back in 2010, before all the hype around London 2012 and Bradley Wiggins at the Tour de France. In fact, it was Alberto Contador and Andy Schleck's battle in the fog up the Tourmalet on stage 17 of the Tour de France.

It took me a few more years to get into the journalism side of things, but I had a good idea I wanted to get into cycling journalism by the end of year nine at school and started doing voluntary work soon after. This got me a chance to go to the London Six Days, Tour de Yorkshire and the Tour of Britain to name a few before eventually joining Eurosport's online team while I was at uni, where I studied journalism. Eurosport gave me the opportunity to work at the world championships in Harrogate back in the awful weather.

After various bar jobs, I managed to get my way into Cycling Weekly in late February of 2020 where I mostly write about racing and everything around that as it's what I specialise in but don't be surprised to see my name on other news stories.

When not writing stories for the site, I don't really switch off my cycling side as I watch every race that is televised as well as being a rider myself and a regular user of the game Pro Cycling Manager. Maybe too regular.

My bike is a well used Specialized Tarmac SL4 when out on my local roads back in West Yorkshire as well as in northern Hampshire with the hills and mountains being my preferred terrain.

WEEK 1 – NOV 5TH – 11TH – CLIMB FOR COSTA

Adrien Costa was one of America’s rising young guns in cycling. In 2014, he became US junior time trial champion and won a silver medal in the World Championships time trial later that year. On July 29, 2018, he was involved in a serious accident while climbing in Mono County, California. When he was scrambling up the climbing route, a large rock, weighing around 4,000 pounds, gave way and pinned his leg against a boulder below. Although his life was saved, the doctors had no choice but to amputate his right leg above the knee. To support medical expenses and increase the community’s awareness, the first week of charity month will be designated to support Adrien Costa.

The Challenge: Climb 400m // 1312ft over the course of the week to unlock special in-game cycling shoes.  Once 25,000 Zwifters complete this challenge, we’ll unlock $25,000 to support medical care and rehab for Adrien Costa.

WEEK 3 – NOV 19th – 25th – TEAM RAMSAY, SUPPORTING GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S CHARITY

Join us as we support The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation, which is partnered with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. And every day is a chance for you to make a difference.  The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation is helping to give seriously ill children the best chance for life and helping to make Great Ormond Street Hospital an even more extraordinary place. Zwift will be donating $25,000 to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity as part of this challenge, which could support 80 families with critically ill children. When a child is critically ill keeping families together during difficult times is vital this donation could pay for 80 families to stay for a week in nearby family accommodation so parents can stay close by while their child is in hospital.

How do I get my club’s kit into Zwift?

Eric Schlange

Cyclists. We sure like our kits. Sometimes we wear the same kit as a group, to show unity. Other times we wear a unique kit to stand out from the crowd and show a little personality.

Due to this wardrobe fixation, one common question asked by Zwifters is, “How do I get my club’s kit into Zwift?” This question is being asked even more lately, with so many cycling clubs hopping on Zwift to hold club events. It’s only logical that these groups would want to wear the same in-game kit as they do outdoors.

Unfortunately, that’s probably not going to happen for your club. At least, not anytime soon. And not in the way you may envision.

How Zwift Kits Work Now

Currently, the only way to get an in-game custom kit is to convince ZwiftHQ to devote an artist’s time to making it happen. According to Wes Salmon in this week’s Zwiftcast , creating the kit artwork is a painstaking process. Artists receive the artwork in standard format such as PDF, then have to re-create it in-game, “pixel by pixel” as Salmon put it. The process takes hours.

Obviously, this isn’t a scalable model. As Wes said, Zwift could dedicate 5 artists full-time to the task and keep up with demand… or those artists could be working on new roads and features.

We see several new kits show up each month, and these are almost all created to support a major event ( Tour of Watopia , for example) or pro teams who are participating in official events. Some kits are created to support ongoing group rides such as AHDR, but those rides have to have a proven track record of high attendance and quality leadership before HQ will put the resources into creating a kit.

How Zwift Kits Will Work… Eventually

Zwift just released the first version of its much-awaited Clubs feature . And while the feature is currently very basic in terms of functionality, one of the key goals of Clubs is to give teams some sort of pathway to creating a custom in-game kit.

How will this work exactly? Again, listening to Salmon’s recent interview, it sounds like Zwift’s intention is to build some sort of “Kit Creator” for club admins.

This would need to be a simple, template-driven tool similar to the web apps used by custom kit manufacturers like Voler. These tools have you start by selecting from a group of templates for each piece of clothing. Then you select color options for particular sections of each piece, then you upload and place your logos. Here’s a screenshot of Voler’s tool :

trek zwift kit

When will we see this tool? Zwift isn’t stating any timelines, and I’m sure their much bigger priority with Clubs is getting some sort of event editing and creation tools in place. But once event editing is done, I’d bet good money that the “Kit Creator” will be the next big Clubs feature.

One thing is certain: when it rolls out we’ll see an explosion of new and unique kits. Teams are going to love it!

Wrapping It Up

Unless you’re a World Tour or Conti pro team officially participating in key Zwift events or an established cycling brand partnering with Zwift, I wouldn’t even waste my time contacting Zwift to inquire about getting my kit in-game. It’s just not going to happen right now, because their priorities are (rightly) elsewhere.

If you’re a local cycling club who wants everyone to dress alike, your best bet is to pick from the big list of available kits and encourage your members to wear that kit.

Eventually, Zwift will provide a pathway to creating a custom Club kit. And when that happens, we’ll all have a blast rocking our clubs’ custom looks!
