We use the most advanced printing technology available for all of our Giclée prints. The State-of-the-art 10-color Fine Art Epson Large Format Printer uses "archival quality", pigmented inks that are guaranteed to be fade-proof for 75 years. All of our posters are printed only on premium heavyweight paper stock and superior quality cotton canvas.

Master Art Digital Prints

We use the CANON-750, a digital printer that offers incredible color control at up to 2400 x 2400 dpi resolution. We print on Premium Silk Finish Coated Paper (8 mils thick) that is Bright White and has High Opacity.

Posters History

The modern poster, as we know it, dates back to 1870 when the printing industry perfected color lithography. This delightful advance in art allowed the whole new art form of color posters to flourish. Advertising agencies were quick to exploit the new poster art style. Most of our vintage poster art was designed for or popularized by the advertising industry. Today it is easy to appreciate this classic artwork, and display it in our homes, through the prints and posters Classic Vintage Posters makes available for you.

Since the late 1800's the tourism and travel industry has used color poster art to communicate the advantages of a particular holiday destination or mode of travel. Railways, cruise lines and airlines created many visually attractive and compelling travel posters which Classic Vintage Posters has found and reproduced for all of us to enjoy. Reproductions that are every bit as stunning and brilliant as the originals, sometimes over a hundred years old, are now economically available in a variety of sizes.

Our Products

Our production process begins by scanning original artifacts from the period at ultra high resolution thus capturing every detail. Afterwards we perform digital restorations in order to bring these often stained, damaged or faded works back to their original glory. After proofing and color correcting the quality of the reproduction print matches the original accurately in every aspect.

The image was about $39 and the frame about $30; my investigation into this began when I saw an original poster for sale for $1,500, but the original had a bit of wear and damage that is not in this reproduction.

Railroads , ocean liners , and airplanes were among the technological marvels of the early 20th century that made pleasure travel feasible and luxurious, and they are often featured in vintage travel posters. These innovations sparked a Golden Age of Travel that would last - despite a Great War and a Depression - until the outbreak of World War II. The lithographic poster came into being just as the explosion in pleasure travel was dawning, and this new means of advertising was ideally suited to educate and tempt the consumer. Combining large images and bold text, the vintage travel poster was a uniquely effective medium to inspire travelers to see the world, and posters promoting every mode of transportation and destination became fixtures on the kiosks and the train stations of Europe and America.

The Radios And Phone Communication Are A Nod To The Chinese Room's Previous Game

One of the most intriguing walking simulators, featuring a very different tone from Still Wakes the Deep, was also made by developer The Chinese Room. That would be 2015's Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, and it's set nearly a decade after the events of Still Wakes the Deep in 1984.

The main part of the experience in Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is that you're alone and the way you're fed information about the story is through echoes, by way of radio and phone calls. The radios you see scattered around the Beira D oil rig look very similar to the model from the previous game, and the phone call communication to progress the story is a callback as well.

A Foul-Mouthed Star Trek Reference

It's clear that both Caz and his pal Roy are Trekkies who like to discuss Star Trek lore. They had a bit of a friendly argument about Roy needing his insulin for his diabetes, and Caz suggested that he should just eat some jam, thinking it's not that big of a deal.

The Final Fantasy series is known for paying homage to the other franchise, but Star Trek seems to be quite the favorite.

Roy makes fun of that suggestion by saying he'll phone "Doctor f-ing Spock" and tell him Caz found the cure for diabetes. Except, Roy mixed up the characters Spock and Dr. Leonard H. McCoy, with Caz quickly correcting him and also calling Spock the "pointy-eared c*nt," a funny, foul-mouthed way to differentiate the two.

As you might tell from the dialogue example above, Still Wakes the Deep is filled with plenty of excellent written dialogue with a delivery that also feels very natural and organic by all the voice actors. All great writers are inspired by great literature and there are some Easter egg nods to that in the achievements The Chinese Room implements.

Throughout the game, there will be parts where you have to use a fire extinguisher to put out some fires. Doing so will earn you the 'Fahrenheit 0451' trophy, which is a reference to the 1953 book of the same name by author Ray Bradbury.

Dying five times to the sea in different locations earns you the Full Fathom Five , a verse from Ariel's Song in Shakespeare's The Tempest, and also the name of a Jackson Pollock painting and a poem by Sylvia Plath (among other pop culture uses).

Football clubs are another topic of conversation between Caz and Roy, with the latter supporting Barnsley F.C. and getting a lot of heat for it. Roy's advice to Caz is that "Life is like football. This little dialogue bit is a nice detail to throw in because the actual voice actor behind Roy, Shaun Dooley , is himself a lifelong supporter of Barnsley F.C. Dooley was born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England and still attends all the football club's home games according to his bio on IMDB , despite now residing in London.

Still Wakes the Deep can also get pretty political. It's the 1970s after all, a tumultuous age during the height of the Cold War with the Vietnam conflict also ongoing. Safety has been a major concern for the crew of the Beira D, with lots of strike sentiment brewing. And you may stumble upon one of your crewmates' politics should you decide to explore and venture into some of the rooms available at the start.

Right by a stack of beer cans you'll spot a National Front poster with the Union Jack that's titled "Put Britons First." There are calls to stop immigration, rebuild the armed forces, do away with overseas aid, and "Make Britain Great Again." It sounds like all the workings and influences of the USA's MAGA GOP, but the National Front is, in fact, a real far-right fascist party wing of the UK.
