KLIP Legend Natural Gut review
In this final episode of Season 1 of The String Bar, we explore Klip's rich history and rise to fame in the natural gut string game. In this documentary-style video essay, we ask the question - are natural gut strings still relevant today?
We take a look at the origin of Klip, how they got their name, travel back to Egypt and go into King Tut's tomb, find out how natural gut strings are made, and why collagen is so important.
After conducting a full review of Klip Legend 16, we show you how natural gut could lead us into the future of tennis strings.

Does anyone else think that Klip Gut is stiffer than other Guts on the market? A couple of weeks ago I played a gut/poly hybrid of N.G.W Gut mains and Wilson Revolve crosses at 53/49 and really liked everything about it. And today I just played a hybrd of Klip Gut mains and Wilson Revolve crosses strung a tad bit tighter at 54/51 and hated it. It felt like a board. After playing a set with it I was so disgusted with how it was playing I tossed it in my bag and pulled out a frame that had 10 hour old Hyper G 17 gauge in it. And to my surprise the 10 hour old Hyper G played so much better. Was it because of the "Klip" gut i was using? Is that gut for some strange reason stiffer than other guts on the market or what? As far as I'm concerned the cheapo N.G.W gut you can buy on the auction site was way better imo. Or do I just need to string Klip gut a lot lower next time?
One thing I have noticed with Klip legend (coated) and other coated guts is that they tend to take more time to break in then uncoated guts. The uncoated guts tend to play great right off of the stringer but coated tends to take about a good 2-3 hours to break in, which basically means the coating is wearing through. The problem is that down here in Florida, with the humidity so high, its nearly impossible to make the uncoated last so coated is the only choice. I would say if you want to soft feeling right off of the stringer go with the KLIP uncoated gut.

I agree with Jugheadfla about the break-in time and agree with TennisManiac about the NGW gut. I just strung one of my rackets with Klip/poly as I was out of the NGW gut and was not impressed with the way it played. Will try it out again this week sometime and see if it hits better. I used to use KLIP exclusively until NGW came out with their V5+. I really like the V5+ and am looking forward to their stock being replenished.
My go to is Klip legend 17 mains 52-56 and Yonex PTP in the crosses 50-52. I don’t use a dampener. Compared to other NGs, it’s definitely a little stiffer but I think it has a bit more pop. For me I can’t go any lower on tension as I will loose a lot of control. I‘m even thinking about going up to 58-60 in the mains.

Klip was the first gut I ever hit. Coming from polys and multis, Klip gut was a revelation -- so much more power and comfort, still had plenty of spin. I only later played Babolat VS and found out what a really plush gut felt like. Still, I don't find Klip 'stiff', when compared to any non-gut string.

Klip gut, to me, always felt like a stiffer gut to play with. I tried Klip gut a couple of times and did not like it at all. I will not waste my money on Klip gut.
I just grabbed some Klip uncoated 16g. If I string 58/53 with VS should I go down on the mains with Klip uncoated? How much?

Sardines said: Revolve loses tension rather quickly and turns stiff. You don't say if you're using Klip Legend, Armor or Guru (uncoated). I like Klip Guru a lot, and it is a little less stiff than the coated Legend and Armor. Never played with the NGW brand. Click to expand...

Its funny we talk about frames that are "string sensitive" a lot but klip legend is definitely a "frame sensitive" string! 52 might be too tight on a 18×20 mid, but 60 could be too loose on a 16x19 tweener. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Jul 26, 2017. #1. I'm playing Klip Legend in the mains of one of my rackets, and while I like the performance and price, I'm skeptical that it's really natural gut. It resists fraying and notching much better than any gut or even synthetic multi that I've ever tried. Even in 17 gauge almost lasts like poly.
G.O.A.T. Nov 7, 2018. #2. I use the Klip Legend 15L. For 1, it's cheaper. 2) It's comes in 15L, which I find is more durable than the the 16g natural guts. Power--I'm not sure, but the VS is a little softer. Comfort--I'd say both are extremely comfortable. I'm not exactly comparing apples to apples here as I have only used 15L Klip and 16g VS.
