STEPHEN PEARCY Announces December 2021 East Coast Tour

RATT singer Stephen Pearcy and his solo band will embark on a short East Coast tour in early December. So far, the following dates have been announced:

Dec. 01 - Jergels Rhythm & Grille - Warrendale, PA Dec. 03 - Showplace Theater - Buffalo, NY Dec. 04 - Keg's Canalside - Jordan, NY Dec. 05 - Vault Music Hall - New Bedford, MA

This past June, Pearcy spoke to Vintage Rock Pod about his upcoming follow-up to 2018's "View To A Thrill" solo album. He said: "So much time has passed since we started writing, Erik [ Ferentinos ] and I — my guitar player and co-writer guy [for] most of my solo [stuff]. It was so long ago. And the record was done; we had the songs written, like, six months ago. And that was a year process. Since then, I've been writing like a fool and writing with him, and all these new songs [came out]. So I figure let's do a double record and give it all you've got — just go in there and lay it down and say, 'Here. This is what happens in two years when you write tunes.' 'Cause they're way different. It goes all over the place, this record. Our new bass player, Jerry Montano , he did time in HELLYEAH ; he's more of an aggressive writer/player. So these songs could be real heavy, heavy or they could be RATT sounding, obviously, if I write 'em. I'm trying to take 'em outside. I'm trying to do a lot of different things. And it's gonna be interesting, because it's gonna go all over the place, so good luck."

According to Pearcy , fans shouldn't expect to see his new solo LP until sometime in 2022. "It's been put off," he explained. "We're gonna try to get through this year. I've got some things to take care of with what the band RATT 's gonna do… And once I get in the studio, I don't mess around. That's one thing I learned from [producer] Beau Hill , is you make shit happen. Don't waste time. And we don't. I crack a whip."

Less than five months ago, the 65-year-old founding RATT vocalist, who has been focusing mostly on his solo career while the band has been off the road, dropped the official music video for a previously unreleased solo song called "Don't Wanna Talk About It" . The track was written "circa 2000s" entirely by Pearcy and features Stephen on vocals and guitar, Ferentinos on lead guitar, Mike Duda on bass and Greg D'Angelo on drums.

"Don't Wanna Talk About It" arrived two months after the release of Pearcy 's cover version of DURAN DURAN 's 1981 hit "Girls On Film" . Prior to that, Pearcy issued another new solo single, "Night Flight" , a collaboration between Pearcy and Ferentinos , which is expected to appear on Stephen 's upcoming LP.

Pearcy 's fifth solo LP, "View To A Thrill" , came out in November 2018 via Frontiers Music Srl . The follow-up to 2017's "Smash" was produced by Matt Thorne and Pearcy and was mixed and mastered by Thorne and Ferentinos .

Pearcy and bassist Juan Croucier are the sole remaining original members in RATT 's current lineup, which made its live debut in July 2018 in Mulvane, Kansas. Joining them in the band are drummer Pete Holmes ( BLACK 'N BLUE , RATT'S JUAN CROUCIER ) and guitarists Jordan Ziff ( RAZER ) and Frankie Lindia .

In January, Pearcy told SiriusXM 's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he was open to the idea of making a new RATT album with all the surviving members of the band's classic lineup.

RATT hasn't released any new music since 2010's "Infestation" LP.

WHITECROSS/ STEPHEN PEARCY show- Oct.7, 2023- BMI Event Center,Versailles, OH

by Chris Gatto

On to the 2nd of the concert series at BMI Event Center, the concept being christian metal juxtaposed with mainstream metal. What will happen? Will there be mutual respect and professionalism between the bands? How about the fans? Will metal culture transcend the belief systems of the concert goers? Or will there be animosity?

stephen pearcy on tour

The lineup was Whitecross and Stephen Pearcy (the voice of Ratt), 2 bands noted for their sonic similarity. Original Whitecross singer Scott Wenzel’s voice was often compared to Ratt’s Stephen Pearcy and both bands’ guitar-heavy pop metal sound is rooted in Whitecross’ guitar slinger Rex Carroll and Ratt’s Warren DeMartini. Heaven’s Metal head honcho Doug Van Pelt asked me afterward which band sounded more like Ratt. Interesting question, but the answer is not so cut and dry. Scott Wenzel is no longer singing in Whitecross, and while Dave Roberts’ raspy vocals are similar in style, he’s not the Pearcy twin that Wenzel was. At the same time, DeMartini is no longer in Ratt, and in fact because of in-fighting amongst the band, this is really Pearcy and a band of (talented) hired guns playing Ratt songs for the fans. So Rex Carroll no longer has a comparison. Perhaps it was never even a good comparison to begin with. Both guitarists bring their instrument to the forefront of their respective bands, but Carroll is more of an innovative, Eddie Van Halen kind of musician, a master craftsman of sorts. So clearly both bands are cut from the same cloth, but it’s safe to say that they’re no longer mirror images of each other.

stephen pearcy on tour

Opening the show was WHITECROSS, featuring founding member and six-string ace Rex Carroll, with longtime members Michael Feighan on drums, and Benny Ramos on bass, with relative newcomer Dave Roberts bringing his raspy vocals to the mic. Off stage Rex and Benny have a shy side (unless talking about music), while Dave has an easy smile, and Mike is the animated entertainer. The band’s setlist was similar to theirs for Immortal. WC kicked off with hits “Who Will You Follow” and “Enough is Enough” off their 1987 eponymously named debut. Then they turned their attention to the horizon, to new material off their yet to be released album Fear No Evil , with “Man In The Mirror,” “Fear No Evil,” and “Lion of Judah” all of which appeared on a 3 song pre-release last year, with “Good Enough,” from In the Kingdom sandwiched between.

“Blind Man,” which premiered at Immortal was omitted. “Take It To The Limit” is from the excellent Hammer & Nail album and then they ventured into uncharted territory for the new song “29,000.” Rex is known for his elaborate guitar solos and this time around he brought us “Nagasake,” off the debut. Whitecross closed out their set with 2 winners from In the Kingdom , “We Know What’s Right,” and “No Second Chances,” wisely omitting the popular, but mellower title track for this mixed crowd.

stephen pearcy on tour

The crowd stayed mostly seated during Whitecross’ performance but clapped and seemed to enjoy their performance. The band stuck to their music and avoided giving any messages from the stage, but all their lyrics were displayed on the screen in lyric video format, and it was quite clear that Jesus was at the center of them.

Response was mixed. Some liked it, many were probably indifferent, and I did see a couple people in the crowd with animosity written on their faces, but they stayed seated despite having the opportunity to get another cold one at the bar. Many fans did come to the merch booth and buy something or get a picture with or autograph from the band afterward. Some seeds were planted and some were watered that night.

stephen pearcy on tour

The headliner for the night was STEPHEN PEARCY and he did draw a large crowd. His band was made up of session musicians, all of them with history in the biz. In interactions with them, they were all friendly and professional towards the opening band, if a little graphic at times. Stephen Pearcy kept himself tucked away until showtime, his level of fame bringing more of a need for security. His voice has held up over the years, and he played all of the Ratt hits that have played in the soundtrack of our lives, including “Lack of Communication,” “I Want a Woman,” “Wanted Man,” and, of course closing with “Round and Round.” Only real complaint was the f-bomb frequency of Mr. Pearcy, which just goes to show you how different these 2 bands were. Thanks to all who came out to support Whitecross, and those who couldn’t make it, but watched Dorn Reppert’s livestream of the show on his Darth Plumber page. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for a new Whitecross album early next year.

BAY CITY, MI – One of the artists scheduled to perform at the Bay City Fireworks Festival next month has been switched out for another after uncertainty arose regarding whether they would be able to participate in this year’s event.

Festival organizers canceled Jack Russell’s Great White after receiving information that “Jack has been ordered off from the road for at least two weeks,” according to a post the festival made on its official Facebook page .

Arts | bso’s key bridge concert to embrace baltimore in music of mourning.

As the opening note of “The Star-Spangled Banner” sounds, the first responders grouped around the stage will snap to attention. Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott will say a few words. And an estimated audience of 1,500 will rise to their feet to join a collective rite of mourning.

“The time feels right for unifying people and bringing everyone together,” said Allison Burr-Livingstone, the orchestra’s senior vice president and chief advancement officer.

The bridge collapsed March 26 after a container ship struck a pillar and collapsed the span. Burr-Livingstone noted that the 700-foot-wide channel is expected to reopen fully a day or two after the concert, which is free and will be conducted by Jonathon Heyward.

“We began thinking about this right after the Key Bridge collapsed,” she said. “We wanted to do something in the most appropriate way, recognizing the tragedy and the first responders who stood up for the community, and also looking ahead to the future and to rebuilding.”

Audience members won’t be required to pay admission to attend the concert, but donations are encouraged. Two days before the performance, organizers already had collected $10,500 for the Baltimore Community Foundation’s Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund. Donations also will be accepted at the concert.

This is the final of the BSO’s three free Symphony in the City concerts that were scheduled for the 2023-24 season. Next month, the orchestra will embark on Music for Maryland, a similar program that brings eight pay-what-you-can concerts to five counties statewide before Labor Day.

The two previous free concerts in Baltimore were tied to community celebrations: Dia de lose Muertos, or Mexico’s Day of the Dead in late October, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day in mid-January.

But the concert paying tribute to the Key Bridge victims will likely deliver an extra emotional wallop.

Anthony Parker, the Baltimore songwriter, playwright and grassroots activist who goes by “Wordsmith,” didn’t often cross the Key Bridge. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel the loss.

“The collapse affected me a lot more than I thought it did,” he said. “I know that the immigrants and others working on that bridge didn’t get the proper love and support they deserved. They are the ones who keep the city going.”

The BSO will perform “Welcome Home,” which was composed and arranged for orchestra by Wordsmith and his friend and touring partner, the Nashville-based pianist Kory Caudill. Though the song was written last year, Parker said it resonates with what Baltimoreans are experiencing today.

“The Key Bridge symbolized home for so many people,” Parker said, “whether they were moving freight or returning home from their evening commute. When they crossed the bridge, they knew they were home, and that felt good in their hearts and souls. They could go on a picnic with their neighbors, or sit on their front porch and watch their children play.”

Baltimore-based rapper and musician Wordsmith aka Anthony Parker poses at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Wordsmith, an artistic partner with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, will perform selections of Frederick Douglass' speech "What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?" at Baltimore's citywide Fourth of July celebration.

The concert’s centerpiece will be Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings,” a long, slow lament of a song that ends with what feels like a prayer. The “Adagio” has been described by an NPR commentator as America’s “semi-official music for mourning”; it was performed in 1963 following the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy and in 2001 after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Heyward wrote in an email to The Sun from England, where he was on parental leave, that there are times when grief can’t adequately be expressed in words. Only music comes close.

“I believe it is our duty to stand with our city in times of sorrow and healing,” Heyward wrote. “We know that music has a unique power to heal and to bring people together, so it is important to me that we use our art to offer comfort and to help in the collective recovery process.”

Other musical selections, such as the finale of Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 and Wynton Marsalis’ “Herald, Holler and Hallelujah!” are intended to celebrate the tenacity and strength of the workers who stopped traffic from entering the bridge moments before it collapsed, rescued two people from the water, recovered six bodies, and have been clearing tons of twisted metal from the bay.

Heyward added that Fort McHenry felt like the ideal place to hold the tribute concert; it is where Francis Scott Key, the bridge’s namesake, watched U.S. defenders win an improbable victory against British naval forces in 1814, and wrote “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

“Holding the concert at Fort McHenry embodies the themes of unity and strength that we aim to emphasize in our performance,” Heyward wrote. “The Fort is a symbol of resilience and perseverance, and it serves as a reminder of our collective ability to overcome adversity.”

The evening will include performances by the Fort McHenry Fife and Drum Corps, as well as the symphony’s two youth ensembles, the BSO OrchKids and the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras.

Audience members are invited to picnic on the lawn before the concert. Blankets and lawn chairs are permitted.

Burr-Livingstone and Heyward said they hope that everyone who was affected by the bridge collapse — survivors, family members, first responders, tugboat operators, truck drivers, longshoremen and business owners — will attend.

“We want anyone who has been impacted by this tragedy to come out and be celebrated,” Burr-Livingstone said. “We want to focus on what Baltimore has been through, and to look forward to where we are going in the future.”

The Key Bridge tribute concert begins at 7 p.m. on the East Lawn of the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, 2400 E. Fort Ave. Reservations are encouraged but are not required, and can be made at bsomusic.org .
