Tailor-Made travel

Group of happy travellers on tailor-made trip in India

Build your adventure, your way

Our Tailor-Made trips show you the world on your terms. We turn dreaming into doing. All you need to do is tell us what your dream adventure looks like. Whether you tailor one of our trips or build your own - we’ll bring it to life.

So what are you waiting for? Let's create an exclusive trip for your group.

You've explored our destination and tester trips for inspiration, so next it's time to tell us all about your travel dreams. It's all about choices - make as few or as many as you like, we're here to help every step of the way.

We'll match you with one of our specialist consultants, there to guide you through any tricky logistics, offer advice, arrange as many activites as you like and together tailor the unique local experiences our insider knowledge offers.

We'll work with our local teams to bring you a day-to-day itinerary with costs for your chosen group. You can then work closely with your specialist consultant to get all those personal details right, before even paying a deposit.

It's time to turn dreaming into doing. Once you're happy with your itinerary, lock it in, get your confirmation, and look forward to your unforgettable trip, with support from us from now, right until you return home.

Tailor an existing trip or build your own

We've been creating thousands of trips for over 30 years and on every continent, so you can trust we can make your dream adventure a reality.

With our teams traveling, living and working where we visit, their knowledge is deep, personal and gives you the kind of experiences only locals know.

You can travel easy knowing every trip has Intrepid's responsible and local values at its core - giving back to local communities, businesses and the environment.

We've rethought how we travel so you can trust that your wellbeing and safety is our top priority, from flexible booking conditions to safety guidelines.

Do I have to choose an existing Intrepid itinerary?

Not at all. Tailor-Made means you can choose to make a fully custom itinerary with the assistance of our expert specialist consultants or choose one of our 1,000+ existing itineraries to modify to suit your group’s specific needs. This can include upgrading the hotels, slowing down or speeding up the pace or adding a focus like food or physical activity.

Is it more cost-effective to book a Tailor-Made Experience?

This will depend on the destination, the standard of accommodation, the amount of included activities, the itinerary and how many passengers will be traveling with you. Generally, if you were to run a private group trip of 6 or more, the price becomes comparable to our publicly available group trips.

How long does it take to get a pricing proposal?

Our specialist consultants will be able to provide you with an estimated time frame once we've received the details of the kind of Tailor-Made Experience you are looking to create.

What is included in my pricing proposal?

This will depend on your requests, but generally a pricing proposal for a Tailor-Made experience includes a custom itinerary from one of our expert specialist consultants featuring a local leader, transport, accommodation, some meals and some activities and excursions.

What's not included in my pricing proposal?

The pricing proposal for Tailor-Made Experiences does not include the cost of:

International Flights : We can provide separate pricing for international airfares if departing from the UK or Australia.

Travel Insurance : We can advise on where to purchase travel insurance. Note if you’re departing from Australia, we can also assist with arranging your travel insurance.

What is the minimum number for a Tailor-Made trip?

We can create a Tailor-Made experience for groups of four or more. Depending on the request, prices become comparable to our public small group adventures with 6 or more.

Tailor-Made is also an option with our Adventure Cruising and Polar experiences, but minimum numbers are variable. Please get in touch with a Tailor-Made specialist consultant for more information.

Can you include free of charge spaces for group organizers, hosts, chaperones etc.?

We can include the cost of a free-of-charge (FOC) spot with any pricing proposal. The cost of this spot will then be averaged out among the paying passengers. Please advise us when requesting a pricing proposal whether you’ll need any FOC spots for your trip.

Can you tailor-make a trip for LGBTQIA+ travelers?

Everyone should feel comfortable when they travel with Intrepid, and we know that many of our travelers are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, so we are here to make your trip easy and relaxed. Your specialist consultant is there to listen and work through any concerns, sharing their knowledge of local laws and customs, as some destinations we visit have laws that discriminate against LGBTQIA+ people.

How will you look after my safety on a Tailor-Made trip?

Your safety is our top priority, no matter what type of trip you’re on. We have extensive and recently updated Health & Safety Guidelines to ensure you are looked after. Learn more about our safe travels policies  here .

What support will I be offered on a Tailor-Made trip?

With Tailor-Made we’re here to help every step of the way, from the specialist consultant who helps you design your itinerary and answers any questions you have, to the local leaders and guides in your chosen destination and the on-ground operations teams there with support until the end of your trip.

What’s the process when I contact you to start creating my Tailor-Made trip?

1. Get to know your Tailor-Made specialist consultant When you call, email or fill out a form online, you’ll be put in touch with a specialist who knows your destination well or is an expert in your area of interest. They’ll be able to guide you through any tricky logistics, offer advice and arrange as many activities as you like.

2. Get the itinerary priced After we’ve put together an itinerary based on your group’s interests, we’ll get a quote from our local teams on the ground in our Destination Management Company (DMC) offices worldwide.

3. Receive your pricing proposal As soon as we receive costs from our local team, we will send through a detailed day-by-day itinerary with costing for your group size. From here you can request changes or move forward with paying a deposit to request your tour services.

4. Lock it in Once you are happy with the itinerary and ready to go ahead, we’ll need to collect deposits per person along with the full names of the group. Once we have everyone’s deposits on file, our local teams will begin confirming the elements of your trip. This can take 5-7 business days. Once the trip is confirmed, we will send you a confirmation pack, which means that services and prices are locked in.

Whether you're planning a family adventure, celebrating a milestone, or seeking to tick off multiple bucket list destinations in one trip, our Tailor-Made touring range is designed to create your perfect private group journey. Experience the world your way.

Why choose Tailor-Made Tours?

What is tailor-made touring.

Unlock unparalleled flexibility, from the standard of accommodation to your on-tour inclusions, personal group size (minimum four travelers), destinations, sightseeing and time of year you're hoping to travel. It's a customized tour, specifically tailored to your needs. With a minimum group size of four people, your private group journey is entirely up to you. We can alter an existing Inspiring Vacations tour, book an existing private tour on a date that suits you, or create an entirely new bespoke tour. This isn’t just another vacation package; it’s your dream tour come to life, with each detail selected by you. Our touring experts and dedicated consultants are on hand to guide you every step of the way. Hoping to bring the whole family along? Our Tailor-Made tours can accommodate private groups of all ages, perfect for a multi-generational adventure.  Enquire Now by completing the form and let us start designing your Tailor-Made tour today. All Tailor-Made tours are backed by our award-winning, 24/7 customer support.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on group size what’s the minimum group size.

There is no limit on group size, and our minimum requirement for Tailor-Made tours is four participants. We collaborate closely with our suppliers to customise the ideal private group tour, tailored to the specific needs of your group size.

Is Tailor-Made a travel agent?

As a tour operator, our Tailor-Made packages are touring-based. This means we have a minimum touring component (at least 50% of the entire trip), but can organise many other aspects of your package, including flights, insurance and more.

What touring options are available on a Tailor-Made tour?

  • Fully Escorted: Enjoy comprehensive guidance with an English-speaking tour guide accompanying guests throughout the entire journey
  • Partially Escorted: Offers a blend of independence and support, allowing guests to travel between locations on their own and meet with a tour guide at key points such as airports, stations, or hotels.

How much does a Tailor-Made tour cost?

Tailor-Made tours are private tours, and are priced as such. Your package price will depend on several factors: group size, destination, grade of accommodation, services and inclusions, time of year (high/low season), level of guided touring and more. As a general rule, private tours in some destinations can be two to three times the cost of a Classic group tour, but in some destinations (like India, Sri Lanka and Vietnam) the price difference between private and group tours is much smaller.

Generally, the cost per day of touring can start at the following rates. Seasonal surcharges may apply:

  • Sri Lanka from  $295  per person, per day
  • Japan from  $755  per person, per day
  • Italy from  $1,165  per person, per day
  • Vietnam from  $306  per person, per day

If you are considering private group touring in your chosen destination and would like the flexibility and bespoke nature of a Tailor-Made tour, reach out to us using the form. We’d love to customise the perfect tour for you.

Is there a minimum age for Tailor-Made tours?

No. Want to bring the grandkids along for a multi-generational family trip? We can accommodate all ages and customise your tour accordingly.

Can I customise an existing Inspiring Vacations tour?

Yes! We have created bespoke packages for customers by making some changes to one of our best-selling group tour packages. This might include combining tour itineraries, extending your stay and organising extra touring arrangements, changing the itinerary or upgrading the standard of accommodation and inclusions. You might like to combine your Tailor-Made private group touring arrangements with another Inspiring Vacations tour. Just ask us.

What is the lead time when booking a Tailor-Made Tour?

Depending on your requirements, our average turn-around time for a Tailor-Made quote is seven days. This can take longer if we need to negotiate particular arrangements with our local partners. Once you are satisfied with your package and quote, we kindly request that your deposit be paid within 48 hours to secure these arrangements.

We cannot book your Tailor-Made tour within 60 days of departure date.

Is there a minimum duration?

Our Tailor-Made tours need to be a minimum of five nights.

What if I don’t know exactly what I want to do in the destination?

You’re in good hands. As a leading tour operator, our destination experts understand what makes the perfect tour. We can offer advice on itinerary, sightseeing and inclusions. Let us plan your dream tour.

Can I create a niche tour around a specific interest?

Yes! We have crafted many special interest Tailor-Made trips: history tours with specialist archaeologist guides, food and wine tours, diving tours in the Maldives, cycling adventures, rail-only journeys, Northern Lights hunting, and other special interest tours. You tell us what your ideal touring package looks like and we’ll work with you to create the perfect bucket list adventure for your group.

Your trip is as unique as you are

Every traveler has her own ideas about what a journey of a lifetime means – from where you wish to go, to what you wish to see and do. With that in mind, we create completely  customized, private experiences  that match your interests and preferences.

What does that mean? Let us tell you why our trips are more  personalized ,  tailor-made  and fully enchanting!

“ We had a truly amazing experience, the best holiday we have ever had by a mile. This was because it was tailored to our needs, well organised and stress free. Thank you so much Enchanting Travels, we can’t wait for our next trip with you. “

Enchanting Travels India Guests Janet Sheehan

What does private travel mean?

Private, tailor-made vacations – unlike packaged tours – offer far more freedom and flexibility to each traveler. A ‘private tour’ could mean:

  • A Self-organized Tour:  A trip planned and organized entirely by you, where you book all your accommodations, transportation and activities individually.
  • A Private Catalog Tour:  These are done privately but follow a specific itinerary and cannot be customized.
  • Tours with Individual Components:  A tour that you can build from various components provided to you.

Private tours with Enchanting Travels offer you all the freedom and flexibility that come with planning your own trip. We don’t believe in the cookie-cutter approach – no matter where you travel, you decide what you wish to see and do at each destination without compromising on your interests, preferences or the quality of each experience. Our team of seasoned, passionate travelers will completely customize your itinerary to match your travel dreams.

At the same time, you can enjoy all the benefits of organizing your vacation through a reliable travel company: 100% financial protection, safe and secure travel, and a dedicated and personal trip coordinator. Plus, we provide 24/7 phone support in case of emergencies to ensure a seamless experience while you’re traveling.

“ I can’t say enough good things about this company. Enchanting Travels took into account every detail from our wish list and over-delivered. Our hotels were amazing, our guides were friendly and spoke perfect English, our chauffeurs were on time, the vehicles were all clean and came with air conditioning. We would not hesitate to book with them again in the future. “

Enchanting Travels Asia Guests Courtney Morris Weil

What are the benefits of a private tour with Enchanting Travels?

1 personalized planning and travel advice.

Your travel plan is tailored to you with attention to every detail and personalized care. Whether it’s some of the world’s most famous sights, or rare, hidden gems, cultural insights, natural wonders or adventure – you decide what you will see and do on your private tour. Just tell us how you picture the vacation of your dreams – we’ll spring into action to create a completely customized, obligation-free itinerary to match your travel dream perfectly. Book your trip with us only when you are 100% satisfied – after all, it is your journey of a lifetime!

You may have only an idea and little time to plan, or you may wish to immerse yourself completely in the planning process – whatever you wish, we are happy to oblige and plan your tour along with you.

Providing personalized travel advice is our biggest priority: we are always eager to hear about and accommodate your individual interests, even if it is not an experience we typically offer. We believe that this is key to helping you fulfill your special wishes – just as we have done with many of our guests!

“ I’m not certain there are words to explain just how phenomenal both the service and our adventure with Enchanting Travels was. From the first contact made with Enchanting Travels to the final email to ensure we were home safely, this trip reflected such superior customer service and kindness that I will ALWAYS choose Enchanting Travels to travel with wherever it is possible. “

Enchanting Travels Africa Guests Felicity Lyons

2 Private Activities

Personalized, unique and authentic experiences.

The experiences planned for you are completely private, with certified local experts who are not only knowledgeable but also have a keen understanding of your individual needs.

You determine the pace and focus of your tour. With our intelligent planning, we’ll ensure that you avoid the busiest hours of the day at each destination. This way, your tours are exclusive and private, creating magical memories to last a lifetime.

In case of a private group tour, we ensure that it is limited only to a small number of guests – because we believe that truly magical moments are only experienced away from the crowds.

“ We absolutely loved every aspect of our trip to Chile. From the well thought out itinerary, to the choice of hotels, to the timely and smooth transfers, every detail was perfect. “

Enchanting Travels South America Guest Fazal Manejwala

3 Individual Care

You’re here for the joy. We’re here for everything else.

Unlike the minimal support provided by online travel agencies, our trip coordinators go above and beyond to ensure our guests are safe, comfortable and having the journey of a lifetime. Your personal and dedicated trip coordinator is your primary point of contact throughout your journey. Plus, in the event of any emergencies, there’s a support team available around the clock while you’re traveling. Learn more about the advantages of having  a trip coordinator here .

“ Enchanting Travels came through again as we enjoyed our third private organized trip, this time to Argentina. As always, every Enchanting Travels contact person was easy to work with and ready to assist. When we had to move our vacation up unexpectedly one week, our panic was eased immediately by our Trip Coordinator and arrangements were changed and all was well! Enchanting Travels makes travel easy and relaxing! “

Enchanting Travels South America Guest Rhona Ainsworth 2

4 Exceptional Accommodation

Handpicked, comfortable and charming

All our accommodations are carefully selected by our team. Only hotels that meet our high standards of quality are included in our collection. This way, you can rest assured that there will be no unpleasant surprises at any of our destinations.

We prefer to include small and exclusive boutique accommodations that are characterized by their unique design and passionate service.

From regal palaces to treehouses, and safari tents to outdoor beds under a starlit sky – if you enjoy special accommodations, you’ll love traveling with us. In several countries, we also offer homestays: spend a night in the home of a local family and receive authentic insights into their life.

“Enchanting Travels provided us with a safe, well organized, fun filled and pleasant trip that gave us memorable life experiences to recall for years to come. I found there was such a good balance between visiting tourist sites as well as relaxing times at absolutely exceptional hotels. I plan to use them again on future holidays. Wonderful chauffeurs and guides!”

Enchanting Travels India Guests Phil and Gisele

5 Private and Safe Transfers

Travel safely and seamlessly in all our destinations.

While you travel, your safety and well-being are extremely important to us. We only use reputed airlines that meet international safety standards set by the Aviation Team of our parent company Travelopia. These airlines are continuously monitored and updated in our Airline Register based on several criteria, including aircraft size, age of the fleet, and international government-approved air safety ratings.

Whether it’s an excursion or a transfer to the airport, you can rely on our friendly and helpful staff. Our licensed, private chauffeurs will transfer you safely and seamlessly from one place to another, in certified, air conditioned vehicles that meet the highest standards of safety internationally and are regularly inspected and maintained.

For your self-drive tour, we will make sure that a first class rental car with a comprehensive insurance cover is available for you. Our self-drive tours are tailor-made to match each guest and each route is determined according to your specific preferences.

“Having been introduced to Enchanting Travels was the best thing, we have not stopped singing praises about it since we connected! For the first time in our lives, we were so relaxed on our trip that we didn’t even follow our itinerary because the guide/chauffeur just knew our every step. Amazing company and can’t wait to go on our next holiday with Enchanting Travels!”

Enchanting Travels Africa Guest Alvina Leung

Why you should choose a private tour?

Private tours for your family.

Planning a tour that meets the requirements of the eldest as well as the youngest members of your family is not easy – without local destination knowledge, it can be a daunting task. For families, traveling in a large group is difficult due to the special attention that your little ones need.

Our experts are happy to advise you about our family-friendly destinations, accommodations, and the best routes and transportation. While planning family vacations with younger children, we avoid longer journeys, plan plenty of rest stops, and choose accommodation and activities that work for both your children and you.

“We had an amazing trip booked through Enchanting Travels. 12 people traveling throughout Peru. The tours, guides, transportation and hotels were all excellent choices, picked for comfort and location. Our Trip Coordinator, Amelia, checked up on us frequently to see if we needed anything. I would highly recommend Enchanting Travels.”

Enchanting Travels South America Guest Lillian Martin

Private Tours for the Differently-abled

For the differently-abled, there are many aspects to consider while planning your trip. At the time of booking your trip, it may not always be easy to gauge if an accommodation provides easy, barrier-free access to all the facilities. Additionally, participating in all the activities offered may prove to be difficult without the proper arrangements.

We plan your tour according to your preferences so that you can enjoy a stress-free vacation and experience the best of each destination. During your trip with us, you can be sure of receiving all the care and support that you require – your Trip Coordinator, private local guide, and chauffeurs are happy to personalize all your travel arrangements. Contact us today and receive custom travel advice.

Private Tours for the Elderly

Not all elderly travelers wish to plan a trip on their own. Safety and comfort are a priority, especially when you are older. We understand that you would prefer to sleep in a spacious, comfortable room with all the amenities you are used to, would not travel for long hours, or wish to carry all your bags everywhere. At the same time, you may also prefer to plan an itinerary according to your individual ideas and not follow a set, rigid program. Talk to us, and we’ll make it happen.

With us, rest assured that all your accommodations and activities are of the highest standard. All our local experts speak fluent English and are happy to adjust your daily schedule to match your pace and level of physical fitness.

If you need medical attention while you travel, your Trip Coordinator is happy to help – you need not worry about a thing.

“Our trip to the Galápagos was booked through Enchanting Travel. We cannot fault them. Everything was organised to the last detail. We will certainly be looking to them for any future travel.”

Enchanting Travels South America Guest Doreen Jenks

We will work tirelessly with you to plan your itinerary until you are completely satisfied. “I would highly recommend traveling with Enchanted Travels. Everything was extremely professional and well planned from initial contact to all the travel to the different places we went to. I would not hesitate to use them again for tours to any of the places that they organize or to tell a friend of their services….in fact I already have! Thanks Again for a wonderful trip.”

Enchanting Travels India Guest Marianne Villeneuve

Travel Insurance for Private Tours

We are happy to provide you with travel cancellation insurance through Redpoint, one of the world’s leading specialty travel insurance providers. Purchasing travel insurance will give you peace of mind before and during your trip with us.

If you are planning a private vacation, we highly recommend that you purchase travel cancellation insurance. This is important for families traveling with young children or seniors.

There are two types of policies:

  • Cancellation insurance for a specific trip
  • An annual policy, which is especially important if you travel more than once every year

Please note:  A cancellation insurance is only valid until the start of your journey. You are not automatically insured against the cancellation of your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as unexpected illness. We recommend that you insure your break in advance. Additionally, it is also advisable to get foreign health insurance – in some countries, it is even mandatory to carry proof of this before you enter.

For more information, please contact your Enchanting Travels Consultant. Please note that Travel Consultants are not licensed insurance agents. If you have specific questions about policies and coverages please contact Redpoint directly at 415-481-0610.

You will be able to fully enjoy the discovery of Japan at your own pace and according to your preferences.

How much does a custom tour in Japan cost? What is included in the price?

The cost of customized tours in Japan depends on many factors such as the duration of the trip, the cities visited, the accommodations chosen (hotels, ryokans, etc.), transportation, guided tours and activities. We work with you to create a customized itinerary that fits your budget. The price of your customized trip will generally include accommodations, transportation (international flights not included), some tours and activities, and the assistance of our Japan specialist consultants.

How to plan a cultural tour of temples, mountains and cities in Japan?

With custom tours, our Japan travel experts will help you plan a cultural itinerary to discover the country's riches. We will adapt to your wishes and advise you on the sites you should not miss.

What is the ideal duration of a trip to Japan?

For a first trip, we recommend a stay of at least 10 to 14 nights to discover the main cities and sites of the country, such as Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima. preview for Take A Tour Of The Peeps Factory, Where More Than 5 Million Peeps Are Made Every Single Day

We've been independently researching and testing products for over 120 years. If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission. Learn more about our review process.

After a prolonged period of being stuck at home, some families are looking to travel again. And while the COVID-19 pandemic means that precautions still have to be taken, and not every destination is up and running at 100% capacity, there's still plenty of unique experiences out there that are once again open to the public.

The following factory tours and appropriate for kids, are well-reviewed by families and are currently open to visitors (or will be opening soon). But you might want to book ahead — some require timed tickets or reservations before you visit. But when you're done, you'll all know a little bit more about how the world around you is made.

From planes to crayons, these fun factory tours go behind the scenes

made for tours

What’s more fun than breaking open a bright new box of crayons or digging a spoon into a melty pint of ice cream? Getting a behind-the-scenes look at how they’re made, of course.

Whether you’re a super fan or are just generally curious, companies around the US – some that have been in business for decades, and in some cases, for over a century – are offering a fresh new way to experience their goods. Visiting the factory offers insight on how a product comes to life, usually in a hands-on, interactive and fun way. From Cape Cod potato chips to PEZ candies, these 11 factory tours are worth a visit.

Colorful PEZ display on the wall at the visitor center of the PEZ factory

PEZ Factory – Orange, Connecticut

The world’s largest PEZ dispenser, vintage Star Wars PEZ and a PEZ motorcycle can all be found in the 4000 sq ft visitor’s center of the company’s candy-making factory . From floor-to-ceiling windows, see the tiny tabs being packaged. (Along with its sister candy-making factory in Traun, Austria, the company produces 5 billion candies each year).

Take time to explore the decades of memorabilia packed into the two-story center, and go on a scavenger hunt for a chance to win a sweet prize at the end.

Ben & Jerry’s – Waterbury, Vermont

Every ice cream lover should add a Waterbury, Vermont , pilgrimage to their bucket list. The Ben & Jerry’s factory tour gives guests a front-row peek into the ice cream-making process, an overview of the company’s colorful history, and – the best part – a sample of the flavors. Finish the visit with a stroll around the company’s outdoor Flavor Graveyard, an ode to discontinued pints.

If a 30-minute tour isn’t enough, opt for the Flavor Fanatic Experience; the $225, two-hour package includes a private guided factory tour, a tie-dyed lab coat, and a hands-on mixing and tasting session in the Flavor Lab, led by one of the company’s Flavor Gurus.

The front facade of the Cape Cod Potato Chip factory

Cape Cod Chips – Hyannis, Massachusetts

In Hyannis, Massachusetts, find the Kennedy compound, the fast ferries to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, and the Cape Cod Potato Chip factory. More than 250,000 visitors each year take the free, self-guided tour, which includes a walk through the facility to see potato chips made in custom kettles, plus relics from the first factory dating back to the 1980s.

At the end of the tour, break open your complimentary chips at an umbrella-shaded table on the sunny patio. (The tour is available Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm.)

US Mint – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

If you have coins in your pocket, there’s a good chance they were minted in Philadelphia . (You can tell by the tiny “P” stamped on one side.) In the city of brotherly love, the US Mint has been producing coins for over 225 years, and visitors can see the process during the self-guided, 45-minute tours available to the public most days.

See the coining operation from 40ft above the factory floor, check out the historic artifacts, like the press used to make the nation’s first coins in 1792, and see the series of seven, 5ft-tall Tiffany glass mosaics created to commemorate the opening of the third US Mint building in 1901. While the Mint sadly doesn’t offer free samples, you can buy commemorative coins and other collectibles in the gift shop.

CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) — Cameron Young made a par putt from just inside 10 feet for an 11-under 59 on Saturday in the Travelers Championship, the first sub-60 round on the PGA Tour in nearly four years.

Young made two eagles on par 4s, holing out with wedge from 142 yards on the third hole and driving the 280-yard 15th hole within 4 feet.

It was the 13th sub-60 round since Al Geiberger first shot golf’s “magic number” at the 1977 Memphis Classic. Scottie Scheffler had been the most recent at the TPC Boston in 2020 at The Northern Trust.

“I can’t say I was expecting it,” Young said. “I’ve been playing better than the results have shown. Waking up this morning, I wasn’t really thinking I’m going to be 5 under through four. It was a lot of fun to do.”

This didn’t even get Young the distinction of owning the course record at the TPC River Highlands. Jim Furyk shot a 58 in 2016 at the Travelers Championship, the lowest round in PGA Tour history.

Young still moved from a tie for 43rd to a tie for 10th, five shots out of the lead.

Jordan Spieth became a footnote in history as the only PGA Tour player to twice play with someone who shot 59. Spieth also was in the group with Justin Thomas when he shot 59 in the opening round of the 2017 Sony Open.

Image

Young was able to lift, clean and place his golf ball in the short grass because of soggy course conditions and the potential of more rain.

He could have gone even lower. After his eagle on the 15th hole, Young hit his tee shot to 7 feet on the par-3 16th and missed the short birdie putt. On the closing hole, needing birdie to tie Furyk’s record, his drive settled on the steep face of a fairway bunker and Young was unable to get it on the green.

He still made par for the seventh round of 59 or lower this year on tours around the world.

“To have a day like today where things start going in, and it feels like you’re reward for good shots, it leaves me with a good taste in my mouth,” Young said.

He finished at 13-under par and was tied with Tom Kim, who was watching some of Young’s round on a video screen at the practice range as Kim was getting ready for the start of his third round. Kim shot a 65 and led by one over Scottie Scheffler and Akshay Bhatia.

The other six rounds at 59 or lower this year include Joaquin Niemann on LIV Golf and a record-tying 57 by Cristobal del Solar on the Korn Ferry Tour in Bogota, Colombia.

Joe Alwyn stepped out in style as he attended a star-studded dinner in London this week.

On Wednesday, June 26, the actor, 33, joined celebrities including Ryan Gosling , and Salma Hayek , at a private event hosted by Gucci in honor of their global ambassador Jannik Sinner.

Alwyn was pictured arriving at the dinner, held at Mount St. Restaurant in Mayfair, wearing black pants featuring a red and green lining at the bottom, which he teamed with a matching jacket and white shirt.

He covered his eyes with a pair of sunglasses and completed the casual chic look with a pair of burgundy sneakers.

Alwyn's appearance in the English capital came just days after his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift performed three shows at London's Wembley Stadium and her boyfriend Travis Kelce made his Eras Tour stage debut at the singer's third show on Sunday, June 23.

The  Kinds of Kindness  star's fellow dinner guest Hayek, 57, attended Swift's first show at Wembley on Friday, June 21, alongside Bridgerton  star Nicola Coughlan ,  Stella McCartney ,  Leslie Mann  and  Queer Eye 's  Jonathan Van Ness .

Alwyn's outing came after he spoke out about his breakup with Swift, 34, for the first time in a Sunday Times Style interview that was published on Saturday, June 15. The couple dated for over six years before PEOPLE confirmed their split in April 2023.

When questioned if he's heard Swift's latest album,  The Tortured Poets Department  — which fans believe may be made up of material inspired by the former couple calling it quits — the actor's response included, “I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years."

"That is a hard thing to navigate. What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in," Alwyn continued.

Swift went public with her romance with Kelce, also 34, in October 2023 when the couple were photographed holding hands in N.Y.C as they attended a  Saturday Night Live afterparty at Catch Steak. The duo had both made surprise appearances on the show earlier in the evening.

On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end surprised fans by joining Swift for her  "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" outfit change , dressed in a tuxedo and top hat.

Kelce stepped in for the dancer who usually carries Swift on stage during the segment, beaming as he gently put the singer down on a red couch, as well as dusting his girlfriend's face with powder in a faux touch-up bit.

Earlier this week, the NFL star opened up about the moment he knew he was starting to "fall" for the pop superstar while speaking on the latest episode of Barstool Sports'  Bussin' With The Boys  podcast released on June 25 (recorded June 19).

Discussing how Swift "understands situations" like the Chiefs winning the 2024 Super Bowl , Kelce shared, "She's very self-aware. And I think that's why I really started to really fall for her, was how genuine she is around friends [and] family. It can get crazy for somebody with that much attention ... and she just keeps it so chill and so cool."

"I can admire it for sure," he added.

15-year-old Miles Russell set for PGA Tour debut, continuing “rollercoaster of fun”

Miles Russell, who made the cut in a Korn Ferry Tour event earlier this year, will make his PGA Tour debut at the RockeT Mortgage Classic.

Share All sharing options for: 15-year-old Miles Russell set for PGA Tour debut, continuing “rollercoaster of fun”

Miles Russell, Veritex Bank Championship

Two months ago, 15-year-old Miles Russell set an incredible record , becoming the youngest player to make a cut in a Korn Ferry Tour event. He eventually finished in a tie for 20th at the LECOM Suncoast Classic, which earned him a spot in next week’s tournament.

He missed the cut despite posting a 4-under par score through 36 holes. But Russell made a lasting impression—so much so that the Rocket Mortgage Classic offered him a sponsor’s exemption to compete in this week’s event at the Detroit Golf Club.

“I was pretty much speechless at the time,” Russell said when he received the call that he would make his PGA Tour debut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

“It’s always been a dream to play at the highest level and compete with the best players in the world, and I get to do that this week. I am really looking forward to it.”

Russell has quite a resume. He broke par for the first time at the age of six and then finished second in the Drive, Chip, and Putt finals at Augusta National in 2018 at nine years old.

Since then, Russell has racked up numerous junior titles. He won the Junior PGA Championship last August by seven strokes and then added a Junior Players Championship title at TPC Sawgrass , where he won by three. As such, Russell won the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Player of the Year Award, becoming the youngest player ever to do so—besting Tiger Woods in the process. Speaking of Woods, Russell will join Charlie Woods at next month’s U.S. Junior Amateu r, which will also take place in Michigan at Oakland Hills Country Club.

“I don’t know how to describe it other than just a rollercoaster, and it’s just been a rollercoaster of just fun,” Russell said.

“It all happened a little faster than I thought it might, but it’s just what happens when you have good play.”

Russell will undoubtedly continue to have fun this week at Detroit Golf Club, the host of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, regardless of the result. He said he will have to rely on his short game—his strong suit—to get around this tight golf course, but he also noted that staying disciplined will be critical.

“My goal is just to come out here and have fun,” Russell said.

“That’s my main goal: have fun, maybe learn something, and take something to my next event.”

The PGA Tour's Signature Events Had Worthy Winners in 2024, But Still Need Some Work

Bob harig | jun 23, 2024.

Scottie Scheffler won the PGA Tour's final signature event of 2024 and four of eight overall.

It is nearly impossible for the PGA Tour and its signature events to deliver the type of outcome intended for these tournaments that are meant to enrich the players while bringing together as many of the best in the game as possible for the enjoyment of the fans.

Scottie Scheffler did his best to do his part.

Scheffler’s playoff victory over Tom Kim on Sunday at the Travelers Championship gave him four victories out of the eight signature events, which saw their first year in this format come to an end, with revisions surely to come.

These big-money, small-field events that were borne out of the need to compensate the best in the game at a higher level—and in five of the eight cases offered guaranteed money—have largely met their goal.

Not every tournament will be compelling, not every event will have a big-name winner.

But in seven of the eight signature events—albeit it four of them won by Scheffler—a previous major champion was the winner.

Chris Kirk, who captured the Sentry in January, was the only non-major winner to prevail. Wyndham Clark, who won the 2023 U.S. Open, captured the shortened AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama won the Genesis Invitational.

After that it was all Scheffler (Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, Memorial and Travelers) except for four-time major champion Rory McIlroy, who won the Wells Fargo the week prior to the PGA Championship. Scheffler did not play that week. McIlroy skipped this week.

And therein lies one of the potential issues with the signature events—the schedule. In an effort to avoid isolating regular events between the biggest tournaments, the PGA Tour sought to make sure there was at least a run of two such smaller events preceding a signature event—one as a vehicle for qualification but also so a tournament such as the RBC Canadian wouldn’t be stuck between a signature event (the Memorial) and a major (the U.S. Open.)

And yet, that brought on its own problems. It means, for example, that players not in the signature events or the U.S. Open had no place to play the last three weeks.

It also put someone like Scheffler, who tied for 45th at the U.S. Open, in the position of having to decry winning at the Memorial because the event might have compromised his abilities at the major championship.

That issue has already been dealt with as the Memorial is moving to two weeks prior to the U.S. Open next year.

And the Tour has already said that going forward, signature events will have a minimum of 72 players.

Which leads to another discussion point. Why not more?

Why limit these events to so few players when you could easily justify a more robust field?

It’s been suggested that all of the signature events should have 100 players with a 36-hole cut. If the compensation issue is a problem, figure out a way to pay everyone who misses the cut.

That big of a field seems a non-starter so the Tour should at least assure 78 players, something easily accomplished via the current FedEx Cup points list, current-year Tour winners and even the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

The Tour gives up its “everyman” mantra with these signature events and has upset many of the rank-and-file who are now competing in regular events that pay less than half of the $20 million purses and also significantly less FedEx Cup points (750 to the winner versus 500). At least let a few more of them into the big-time events and see if the schedule can’t be a bit more reasonable so as not to burden the best players.

“It’s been a lot,” said Collin Morikawa, who finished second to Scheffler at the Memorial and also has been a frequent contender recently. “I feel like this year has just felt a little bit more of a sprint, let's call it. But I think that's just because of the season, not having a fall portion or at least not having a fall portion that's counted towards this season.

“I think that's an adjustment, but I have nothing wrong with it. Every other sport they're playing every day, every few days. Granted, our weeks are a lot longer and, we get pretty drained as well, but a lot of these tournaments I would have played no matter what, wherever they were on the schedule, and you kind of work them in. So it kind of worked out in my favor where I wanted to play the week before a major, a lot of 'em lined up like that. So just kind of continue that.”

Bryson's victory tour

Bryson DeChambeau crammed a lot into the week following his U.S. Open victory, including visits to the Today show in New York along with various other appearances where he took the U.S. Open trophy.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon , he took the trophy into the audience.

And then he brought it to Lower Broadway in Nashville in advance of the LIV Golf Nashville tournament, which started Friday and concluded Sunday.

By Saturday, DeChambeau was admittedly running out of energy, even if his golf had not fallen off.

Bryson DeChambeau of Crushers GC signs a hat for a fan at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tenn.

“My brain is not fully functioning so I’m not able to speak coherently all the time,” he said. “But the fans have been fantastic. They’ve been brilliant. Very gracious to have them out there supporting me like that.”

Tyrrell Hatton proved too much on Sunday, winning his first LIV Golf event by six shots. DeChambeau tied for third, seven strokes back in what was a solid effort given the enormity of his victory a week ago and all that transpired.

It was his best finish in nine LIV events this year and only his second top five.

But he was tied for sixth at the Masters and second at the PGA Championship prior to his U.S. Open win.

“I’m impressed,” said Jon Rahm, when asked about the inevitable post-major hangover. “Especially taking into account that he went and did the whole New York news shows. I didn't do that. I played the week after (his 2023 Masters win) in Hilton Head and it was quite difficult and tiring.

“But we saw Scottie (Scheffler) win the week after (the Masters at the RBC Heritage) this year, and Bryson seems to be a guy who naturally has a lot of energy. I would never question him being able to perform.

“I think it becomes more a mental thing, right? Can you focus on still playing good golf even though you’ve accomplished something incredible? I think he’s in good enough shape physically that he can handle it, it’s just being able to do it mentally.

“I think one of the things that is never really talked about enough about players ... obviously like Tiger (Woods) or Jack (Nicklaus), is the fact that they were able to win multiple majors in a season consistently, and I don’t think most people understand how demanding that is mentally, just to get that done, the media obligations you have afterwards amongst all those things.

“It’s definitely impressive to see what some other players have been able to do.”

The last player to win two majors in the same year was Brooks Koepka (U.S. Open, PGA) in 2018. Jordan Spieth (Masters, U.S. Open) did it in 2015, and Rory McIlroy (British Open, PGA) did it in 2014. Prior to that, Padraig Harrington (British and PGA) was the last in 2008.

Woods won multiple majors in a year in 2000 (U.S. Open, British, PGA); 2002 (Masters, U.S. Open); 2005 (Masters, British) and 2006 (British, PGA).

Nicklaus won two majors in a year in 1963 (Masters, PGA), 1966 (Masters, British), 1972 (Masters, U.S. Open), 1975 (Masters, PGA) and 1980 (U.S. Open, PGA).

Arnold Palmer: American hero

Scottie Scheffler is on an amazing roll, having won his sixth tournament of the year on the PGA Tour and matching a feat not accomplished since Arnold Palmer in 1962: six victories prior to July 1. Tiger Woods never did that, nor did Jack Nicklaus.

But Scheffler has a little ways to go in order to match an interesting feat that Palmer accomplished at the Masters: he was in eight consecutive green jacket ceremonies from 1958 through 1965.

Think about it: Arnie won the Masters in 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964. That made him part of giving the jacket to the winner the following year: to Art Wall in 1959, Gary Player in 1961, Jack Nicklaus in 1963 and Nicklaus again in 1965.

Martin Davis highlights this and many other aspects of Palmer’s life and career in his large book called Arnold Palmer: American Hero . Stripped across two pages are photos of Palmer from each of those Masters ceremonies.

Arnold Palmer: American Hero book cover

This is the seventh such book Davis has done in a large 11-by-14-inch format that is filled with essays and photos, some never seen before. The book weighs eight pounds and follows other books he’s done in similar fashion on Ben Hogan (two), Byron Nelson, Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus and the Ryder Cup.

“We always wanted to do this and I thought it just was the wrong time,” said Davis of a book on Palmer, who died in 2016. “This just seemed like the right time while people still remember him fondly.

“What we do with these books are what I would call love stories. There’s no heavy criticism. They’ve all been formatted the same way, with essays on different aspects of their lives.”

Among them were stories written by players such as Gary Player, Nancy Lopez and Peter Jacobsen, Palmer’s good friend and former LPGA commissioner Charlie Mecham and by his longtime assistant and former newspaper writer “Doc” Giffin, who worked for Palmer for more than 50 years.

In all, there are more than 20 essays in 272 pages with more than 300 photos, which include an analysis of his swing and his putting.

“One of the joys of the book is all the photos. Where do you find them?” Davis said. “A lot of them you’ve seen before, like throwing his hat in the air at the ’60 (U.S.) Open (at Cherry Hills) when he won. There’s a lot of them that have never been published and we probably looked at more than 2,500 photos. And we try to set ourselves apart with very high production values.”

Davis said he worked on the book for more than four years and the end product is chock full of anything and everything related to Palmer’s golf and life.

Among the neat aspects is a section on Palmer’s letter-writing habit that he got into, sending a note of congratulations after players won various events. There’s the telegram he sent Jack Nicklaus after the Golden Bear won the 1986 Masters at age 46 that offered congratulations and also said: “Do you think there’s hope for a 56-year-old?”

One that is particularly poignant was written in September 2016 and addressed to Paul Broadhurst, who Palmer was congratulating on Broadhurst's senior victory at Pebble Beach and sent to his home in the United Kingdom. It was dated just six days prior to Palmer’s death.

A few more things

Scottie Scheffler became the first player since Arnold Palmer in 1962 to win six times on the PGA Tour prior to July 1. The win at the Travelers Championship gives him victories at the Masters, the Players and four signature events. He’s now won 12 times in his PGA Tour career, all since the start of 2022. He is also the first player with six wins in a season since Tiger Woods in 2009. Scheffler will take a few weeks off prior to the British Open. He is not planning to play the Scottish Open the week prior as he did last year. After that it’s the Olympics and then the FedEx Cup playoffs. He has earned more than $27.6 million in prize money this year, surpassing the $21 million record he set in 2021. LIV Golf has a few weeks off before its next event in Spain at Valderamma. That is the week prior to the British Open. Its U.K. event follows the British. Dustin Johnson turned 40 on Saturday but there wasn’t much to celebrate regarding his golf. His 72–70–75 weekend in Nashville saw him post his worst LIV Golf finish in 29 individual events with a tie for 51st. His previous worst was 37th last year in the season-opening event in Mexico when he was coming off an injury. Johnson, a two-time major champion, has missed the cut in three of his last four majors and his best this year is a tie for 43rd at the PGA. Tom Hoge and Christiaan Bezuidenhout earned spots in the British Open via the top 20 in the FedEx Cup standings after the Travelers at 18th and 20th, respectively. The exemption is for anyone in the top 20 not already exempt, up to five players.
