Blue Lagoon

Welcome to the Blue Lagoon in Cyprus, a true gem of the  Akamas peninsula , where the sapphire-blue waters are so clear you’ll wish you had gills!

Nestled 50 kilometers from Paphos, the Blue Lagoon awaits its enchanting beauty.

This stunning bay boasts soft white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters, making it a must-visit destination for any traveler in Cyprus.

Dive into the warm, crystalline waters and swim with the fish like a pro. Snorkeling around the reef offers unbeatable views of sea life.

Don’t stress about the crowds—between us locals, we know the best time to visit is in the off-season.

As a local, let me tell you the best way to get there is by boat from  Latchi Harbor .

You’ll find plenty of  sunset cruises and day tours  departing from nearby Paphos that usually make a stop here.

Once you arrive, be prepared to be mesmerized by the crystal-clear waters and the beautiful shades of blue.

The Blue Lagoon is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing.

Best Time to Visit

The spring and summer months, specifically from March to September, offer the ideal weather and sea conditions for a memorable visit to the Blue Lagoon.

The water is pleasant and calm during these months, perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

Avoiding the Crowds

If you prefer a more serene and quiet experience, consider visiting the Blue Lagoon during the shoulder months of April, May, or September.

These months offer the same enchanting beauty of the Blue Lagoon but with fewer tourists, allowing you to relax and enjoy the beautiful Akamas Peninsula in peace.

Embrace the Buzz of Peak Season

However, if you thrive on the lively atmosphere of peak season, plan your visit for June, July, or August.

These months are bustling with activity, offering a vibrant ambiance as you soak up the sun and enjoy the stunning views.

Explore Beyond the Lagoon

While the Blue Lagoon is undoubtedly the star attraction, take the chance to explore the Akamas area.

Take a stroll along the coastline, soak in the breathtaking views, or indulge in some water activities to make the most of your visit.

Book a day tour to the Blue Lagoon that includes more of the Akamas wonders in the area, like the sea caves , Edro 3 , The Baths of Aphrodite , and more.

Tips for Your Visit

  • Sun Protection:  The Cypriot sun can be intense, so pack your sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself.
  • Swimwear:  Remember your swimsuit! The clear waters of the Blue Lagoon are perfect for a refreshing swim.
  • Snorkeling Gear: Bring your gear to explore the vibrant underwater world with marine life.
  • Water Shoes: The beach may have rocky areas, so water shoes can provide added comfort and protection.

Blue Lagoon Information

How do you get to the blue lagoon in cyprus.

You can get to Blue Lagoon Cyprus in so many fun ways:

Embark on an adventure to the Blue Lagoon, starting from Latchi Port, the cheapest and most accessible option;

You can get there by bus, car, or taxi and book a cruise to the Blue Lagoon, which offers a delightful journey filled with stunning views and refreshing experiences.

If you prefer a more guided experience, consider a trip by air-conditioned bus.

This option includes pickup and return to your hotel and a cruise to the Blue Lagoon.

The trip typically starts around 8:00 a.m. and ends around 6:00 p.m., offering a full day of exploration.

Book a leisurely boat tour and sit back in the beautiful bay, hop in a buggy and cruise to the beach, or rent a boat and head to your destination in style! The choice is yours.

How do I get from Paphos to the Blue Lagoon?

Public transport pros and cons.

While public transportation offers a budget-friendly option, reaching the Blue Lagoon in Paphos can be a bit of a bustling journey.

Depending on your starting point, you may need to hop on two to four buses, making it an adventure.

Route from Paphos Port

From Paphos port, catch Line 610, which departs every 15-20 minutes from the central station and heads to Karvela station in the old city.

Here, you’ll take an elevator down to the central station itself.

Line 618 is an option, but Line 610 runs more frequently. From there, switch to Line 645 to Polis and Line 622 to the Port of Latchi.

Route from the Universal

For those starting from the Universal, hop on Line (B)603 to the Old City.

Note that this line doesn’t stop directly at the central station but is a short walk away.

Alternatively, take Line 603 to the port of Paphos, switch to Line 610 or 618 to the old town, then proceed with Lines 645 and 622 to reach the Port of Latchi.

Route from Tombs of the Kings Area

Travelers from the Tombs of the Kings area can take Line 615 to the port of Paphos, then switch to Line 610 or 618 to reach the old town.

From there, continue with Lines 645 and 622 to reach the Port of Latchi.

Bus Travel Times

  • Paphos port to the old city (610 or 618): about 10 minutes
  • Old City to Polis (645): about 45 minutes
  • Polis to the Port of Latchi (622): about 5 minutes

Other Transportation Options

Taxis: a pricey choice.

While taxis offer convenience, they come at a hefty price, costing several hundred euros for a round trip to Latchi and back.

Consider this option only if budget is not a concern.

Car Rental: The Independent Route

Renting a car provides convenience and cost-effectiveness compared to buses or taxis.

However, remember not to attempt the journey to the Blue Lagoon with a private car, as it’s unsuitable for the terrain.

Choose Your Adventure Wisely

Whether you opt for the bus adventure or the car rental convenience, getting to the Blue Lagoon is part of the experience.

Choose the option that suits your budget and sense of adventure, and prepare for a memorable journey to this stunning destination!

  • michaelwV2454LI 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Two sides of Nicosia A very interesting and informative trip from Paphos to Nicosia with our guide excellent Chris giving us a real insight into the history of Cyprus told in a relaxed and easy to take in manner. The trip itself was full of interesting stops. First of all at St Johns Cathedral to see the marvellous frescoes inside the church, then the Liberty monument and on to Nicosia where we had a small lunch which was included in the price in the Buyuk Han, a complete Ottoman caravansarai. Afterwards cross into Turkish Nicosia, which was good for about an hour's stroll, unfortunately the Selimiye Mosque was closed for renovations then back for a look around Nicosia. • wanderer_scotland 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great day out for the whole family. Was in Paphos with my wife and two young daughters, and decided as a treat to take them out on a Pirate Ship Cruise for the day. Out of my two kids (aged 10 and 6) it was certainly more aided at my youngest age group, but by the two it got going my eldest was enjoying herself, and it was brilliant fun for the whole family. Plenty for them to do, with games, face painting and entertainment from Captain Jack Pigeon, so its a great day out for the family. The ship sails you out to a bay at the end of Paphos run way, and this is maybe my only criticism that you do get the smell of jet fumes from the planes taking off, but its enjoyable to swim. You also get to go on the fastest extreme speed boat on that side of the island, and my eldest loved it when me and her went on it. A really enjoyable lunch is also put on. So all in all a real must for families to do when in Paphos. Read more Written September 14, 2023

  • caitlin444 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Highlight of the holiday We had the most amazing time on the Wavedancer for the fireworks/sunset cruise. The entertainment was absolutely out of this world, the food was lovely (I'm vegetarian and had lots of options) and the cocktails were great. The fireworks were wonderful too. All in all a brilliant time and excellent value for money. Would recommend to anyone! Read more Written July 25, 2023
  • _cjpayne27 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A fun-filled family-friendly jaunt on the high seas! I wanted to leave a review because we had some worries before attending our cruise and wanted to answer them incase anyone else also had these fears. First mention needs to go to Pirate Pete and Pirate Polly. How they kept the energy levels so high, god only knows. Upon boarding the ship, we were given a lovely fruit juice as a welcome drink, but they have a comprehensive bar on board. I'd suggest any UK travellers use their card or contactless, because it comes off as pounds instead of Euros. (A 500ml can of Kopparberg and a bottle of Corona cost me £6-odds, very reasonable!) Also had crisps available as a snack if you can't wait for lunch. We travelled along the harbour a while then the entertainment started. Pete and Polly worked hard to entertain the kids with a treasure hunt, games, dancing and other Pirate-related fun, all the while making adult puns and jokes that had me genuinely cracking up. Then came swimming in the sea. As an adult who has an (understandably) big fear of open bodies of water, my son unfortunately doesn't share that fear, so he was going in without consideration of my feelings at all! Thankfully, they offer both adult and child lifejackets. So in we went. Granted, he only lasted about 18 seconds (being in the brisk salty sea isn't for everyone!) But I'm glad we did it to say we had done it :) Lunch was really good - a great selection of foods that cater for both vegetarian and non. (Sorry I didn't notice if anything was vegan, but I'm sure they'd be quick to inform you if this wasn't the case). We even had seconds, such was the amount of food put out! There was bread (with Lurpak butter, result!!!) fresh salad, chicken nuggets (kids got first choice with these and adults were able to take after), a lovely tomato pasta, marinated chicken thigh/drumsticks and potato wedges. We had seconds and were stuffed at the end of it. The entertainment continued with a magician who was honestly very very good, a kids (and adults) limbo challenge and some more music and dancing before we started our return journey. All in all, it was a 4-hour trip that went in so fast. We all had a thoroughly great day and it was well worth the price. All the staff went above and beyond. A brilliant trip. If you do go, please please don't make the mistake we made and not take cash to tip. All the staff on board really deserved it and we were so upset that we hadn't even considered taking cash!
