Does anyone know how to remove a Lamy Safari/All Star clip without actually sawing it off?
I have a few of these pens as they are such great value for money.....but I really hate the clips!

Be aware the cap assembly changed over the years: the history thread has details.
I like the clip - it's functional rather than decorative. I dislike showy, ornamental gold fittings.

be carefull with the rubber inner cap, it's soft and bends easy - and that inner cap is what keeps the cap posted on the pen!
the best thing is to find an old Safari with the metal srew-in top, that way you can easy switch all the clip colors...
one more thing, there is a small rubber ring under the cap top thet keeps the clip from wiggling around - if you take out the clip there will be too much room left (because the clip is not there anymore under that rubber ring) and the inner cap + cap top connection will not be firm. In that case I allways take another spare rubber ring from another Lamy Safari and have 2 rubber rings under the cap top if the clip is not there anymore!
Gosh, that must sound coufusing, but I can't explain it better...

You could find a Lamy Nexx, which is a very similar pen, but with a plastic, more normal looking clip. As someone else mentioned, the Safari clip is really designed to be functional, not beautiful. I find that it's actually the most versatile and sturdy clip of any pen that have. It won't win any beauty contests, however.
The Pelikan Future is also a similar, equally functional pen that's about the same cost.

😱 oh no! The images of that link are gone! 😢
What a great idea! Sometimes the clip gets in my way and often wish for a smaller clip. Looking into the articles now, thank you!

I have a black LAMY Safari, and a red one... looking to buy the Al-Star Copper/Orange next, and I'd like to switch all the clips to black. So... just curious - Clips easy to swap?
