SLEEP A WHISKER AWAY FROM SUMATRAN TIGERS

safari lodge with hot tub

Enjoy an overnight experience, unlike anywhere else in the UK

Four brand-new, luxurious lodges offer an amazing overnight stay amongst our incredible Sumatran tigers. Two types of lodges will be available: with a hot tub and without a hot tub.

Lodges with a hot tub are detached, single-storey spaces, sleeping up to five people. These lodges feature an open-plan living and dining area and two bedrooms, all with floor-to-ceiling windows looking into the Sumatran tiger habitat. Outside you’ll find a covered garden area, with a sunken hot tub right next to a large, glass window offering a chance to get up close to this endangered species.

Lodges without a hot tub are double-storey and can sleep up to six people. Downstairs is a master bedroom and in the living area is an authentically themed day bed, which can be used as a space to relax and take in the views. Stairs lead to an upstairs bedroom, with three single beds and an additional bathroom.

The Wildlife

Watch the stunning Sumatran tigers right outside your window. These incredible felines are the smallest variety of tiger. Their stripes are as unique as a human’s fingerprints, with each individual having its own stripe pattern.

Unlike most of their cousins, tigers love swimming and will frequently cool off by having a dip in their pools!

Nakal is our 8-year-old male who has been at the Park since 2016 after moving from London Zoo. Our female, 10-year-old Dourga has been at the Park since July 2022 after travelling from Fota Wildlife Park in Ireland.

See if you can tell the pair apart from your window – Dourga has thinner stripes and has 2 circles at the top of her back right leg. Nakal has thicker whiskers, thicker black stripes and oval shaped stripe pattern along his sides!

We had an absolutely wonderful week at Sweeney Farm. The tents were very glam and offered everything you would possibly need. The balcony was a fantastic space to enjoy the gorgeous views, the kitchen / dining are was brilliant as it offered a nice space to enjoy breakfasts, the beds were beyond comfy. Thank you so much!

- Lynsey Thompson

Thank you for your hospitality and providing such high standard accommodation. We all have thoroughly enjoyed the stay with the whole family. Hopefully see you again in the summer.

- Hitesh Kanbi

We had a truly wonderful holiday! The accommodation was beautiful and well equipped. The children just relished the freedom the location affords, while the adults had the opportunity to relax!

Becky Jones

Yet another great stay in Breidden Lodge at Sweeney Farm. Beautiful location and the lodge is huge…..loads of space for the 8 of us and having 2 bathrooms really helped with that many people. The hot tub was a big hit. Helen was helpful and unobtrusive, which was perfect.

Nicola Watson

We had an amazing stay. The lodge was clean, spacious and well equipped in a fantastic setting. Beds were comfy, showers were hot and everything was as described. Would highly recommend for a group stay.

We loved our stay at Sweeney Farm. We have made so many great memories. The kids enjoyed playing on the field and could play safely with plenty of space for games. There was so much to see and do within a short driving distance and we’ve already said that we want to return. We would highly recommend it to family and friends.

We booked the whole site for a hen party and had an absolutely brilliant weekend. The accommodation is ideal and well equipped. Helen is lovely but leaves you to it unless you need help. The hot tubs are perfect and so clean. We had a fantastic weekend and I am sure some of us will book again in the future.

Early morning wake-ups with the wild things and sunset quests out on the back of an open vehicle in the African bush. This epitomizes an African safari. Add in luxurious touches, gourmet feasts, and bouts of relaxing pampering in the bush at a luxury safari lodge, and you have it all. The best safari lodges in Africa have thought above and beyond the game drives, which can sometimes leave you, well, a little hot and dusty! You’ll need to bathe. And you’ll want to do it well.

Read on for our guide to the Best Safari Lodges with outdoor showers and baths with a wild view…

Located in the Greater Kruger National Park, Kapama Private Game Reserve offers an escape into a part of Africa that is beloved by all that visit it. The reserve is home to 4 lodges, with Kapama Karula being the flagship. Elegant, chic, and luxurious, this lodge is perfect for the most seasoned traveler, with each of the ten superior villas offering endless views over the riverbed below.

Getting there is easier than ever with direct Airlink flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Hoedspruit.

Bathing in the bush at Karula: From the spacious bathroom, you can step out under the canopy of the trees for a refreshing early morning outdoor shower with the birds.

The couple’s bath in the award-winning Karula Spa will leave you stress-free and squeaky clean for those looking for something a little more zen. This safari spa is not to be missed!

Located in the Makalali Conservancy just outside Kruger National Park, the owner-run, and managed Garonga Safari camp offers an unhurried and intimate luxury safari. With only six tents at Safari Camp and 3 Suites at Little Garonga, it’s no wonder it’s popular with couples in search of a perfect safari honeymoon or romantic escape.

Getting there is easier than ever with direct Airlink flights from Johannesburg to Phalaborwa or Hoedspruit.

Bathing in the Bush at Garonga includes Bush bath and Star bath experiences, two completely private outdoor bathing indulgences offering guests a starlit soak in the African bush. This is certainly the place to come for cleansing the body and soul!

The beautiful tented Rhino Sands is located within the Manyoni Private Game Reserve, in Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. With only 4 Luxury tents, Rhino Sands is a perfect retreat for a small group of family or friends or even just the two of you! With the chic East-African influences running from the main areas through into the Tents, there is no compromise on luxury.

Bathing in the bush at Rhino Sands: An open-air bathroom, complete with a ball-and-claw bath and an alfresco shower, allows you to completely immerse yourself in bubbles and the surrounding bush. You might even spot something wild looking back at you from your safari bath setting!

The all-inclusive Tongabezi, located on the banks of the Zambezi River, just upstream from Victoria Falls , has ample options when it comes to a luxurious Zambezi Lodge getaway. Built with romance in mind, each of the cottages and houses is unique and designed to make the most of the extensive views across the Zambezi.

Getting there is easier than ever with direct flights with Airlink from Johannesburg to Livingstone.

Bathing in the bush at Tongabezi: Romantic baths and showers are a key feature of the Tongabezi way of life. From the indoor tub with endless river views in the River Cottage to the open-air bath on the deck of the Bird House or Honeymoon House allowing you to gaze down onto the river. There is no denying you will feel like you are floating away with the hippos!

Deep in the heart of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, Kwa-Zulu Natal lies Makakatana Bay Lodge . Owner-managed and run, this lodge offers a unique bush and beach experience. Each room looks out onto the surrounding bush with the estuary in the distance, setting the scene for relaxed luxury.

Bathing in the bush at Makakatana: Outdoor bathing is the order of the day, with both the shower and bath protected by the surrounding shrubs. You can choose to be with the birds in your safari shower or order a bottle of bubbly to accompany your bath bubbles and relax.

Cottars 1920’s Safari Camp is perfectly located in the Masai Mara in Kenya and is the epitome of a luxury vintage-safari from a bygone era. Taking you back in time while still offering modern creature comforts, guests are treated to a luxurious safari escape in an unspoiled Kenyan setting.

Getting there is easier than ever with flights with Kenyan Airways to Nairobi.

Bathing in the bush at Cottars 1920’s Camp: Stepping back into the early 20th century is exactly how you will feel with the unique bathing experience that Cottars 1920s camp offers. Canvas bush baths are filled to the brim with hot bubbly water and are accompanied by a glass of bubbly and a view of the distant Serengeti plains before you.

Hidden within the Okavango Delta, Footsteps Camp is a true African Safari escape with their main focus being ‘off the grid’. Small and intimate, with only 3 Meru-style tents, Footsteps Camp is called home to our weary walkers coming back from their bush trek. It is also where the Young Explorers specialist family safaris operate from. All of whom require some time to recoup, and Footsteps Camp knows just how to do it right!.

Bathing in the bush at Footsteps Camp: After a long day of trekking through the bushveld with only the trail as your compass, nothing beats a hot tub lit by the fiery glow of lanterns. Dusty, achy feet, and dirty, tired children, all love their time in the tub under the stars.

Luxury, space and privacy describe this popular More Hotels property. Located in the Sabi Sands, the Lion Sands Ivory Villa’s are aptly named, and adorned by many who seek out their own ‘apartment’ in the bush.

Getting there is easier than ever with direct Airlink flights from Johannesburg to Skukuza.

Bathing in the bush at Lion Sands Ivory: Complimenting the Villa’s, the bathrooms are no less luxurious or spacious. The options for washing away those dusty woes are between the free-standing indoor bath; or the outdoor safari rain shower. The clean lines and smooth textures will leave you feeling zen and at peace.

As the name suggests, Madikwe Hills is perched on the edge of a hill, overlooking the Madikwe Game Reserve. A wooden pathway weaving up and over rocks leads to the 10 Suites, each with a unique layout depending on the position within the rocks and angle of the hillside.

Getting there is easier than ever with twice-daily direct Federal Air charter flights from Johannesburg.

Bathing in the bush at Madikwe Hills: Of course, no Suite would be complete without a bath and shower, but one with these views across the savanna is spectacular. Having a bird’s eye view while soaking away with a glass of your favorite is how we like to end or start the day while on safari. And there’s no guilt here if you skip your game drive in lieu of some game viewing from your hillside bush bath.

Nestled on the banks of a quiet and remote location on the Chongwe River in the Lower Zambezi National Park, lies Time + Tide Chongwe House .

A two-story, four-bedroom, four-bathroom private house offers a design that blends effortlessly into the undulating landscape, with river pebble accents and furniture carved from a fallen winterthorn tree.

The house sleeps four to eight people and features private open-air bathtubs and waterfall showers, a large pool, and spacious indoor and outdoor lounges with dining areas perfect for spending time together.

Listen to fish eagle calls and the faint sound of a resident family of warthogs’ mowing’ the grass outside. Watch elephants wade across the river right in front of the house. Savor fine dining in the wild, featuring local and seasonal ingredients. Getting there is easier than ever with direct flights from Lusaka with Proflight.

Bathing in the bush at Chongwe House: The flow continues through to the four bedrooms, with each being open to the outside elements, allowing you to enjoy the tranquil river setting. The bathrooms allow for the same effect with pebble-studded walls and floors, creating a waterfall shower setting for that perfect safari shower.

On the banks of the Zambezi River, about 7km upstream from the Victoria Falls lies Old Drift Lodge . With its bush setting within the Zambezi National Park Zimbabwe, this luxury lodge has a perfect central location to escape the crowds of the old Victoria Falls town. Arrival by boat transfer from the river sets the scene for a romantic and unforgettable stay.

Getting there is easier than ever with direct flights with Airlink from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls.

Bathing in the bush at Old Drift Lodge: The Tented Suites are a perfect combination of clean, simplistic design and luxurious offerings from stylish touches and features. The bedroom flows seamlessly to the bathroom, where the spoils continue. The choice is yours on where to wash away the dust from your safari day. With an option of either an indoor or outdoor safari shower for that refreshing splash, the appeal might be for a little more time spent in a starlit outdoor tub with only the sounds of the local hippos in the distance.

  • Seend, Wiltshire, England

safari lodge with hot tub

  • Bedrooms: 2
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

If you love all the fresh-air adventure and exploration of a safari, but don’t fancy the closeness of man-eating lions, a trip to Rusty Lane Safari Lodge (complete with hot tub for laid-back stargazing evenings) could be just the holiday you’re looking for!

Secluded amongst peaceful Wiltshire countryside, in a hilltop village close to bustling Devizes, Rusty Lane Safari Lodge sleeps up to four guests, making this an ideal family escape into nature.

Not that you’ll be ‘roughing it’ here. Filled with creature comforts, cheerful décor, and thoughtful attention to detail, the welcoming wooden lodge will soon feel like a much-loved home-from-home.

Eat in style

This season we have added a kitchenette into our Safari Lodge with sink, induction hob with utilities, toaster, fridge, freezer compartment and kettle – so even on those rainy days you can hole up inside and enjoy the finer things in life.

There is also an undercover area next to the the fire pit so you can sit outside – and a gas fired Bbq is located there for your exclusive use.

Lit by fairy lights it’s a magical space to while away the evening.

Repurposed for a purpose

We have upcycled materials as much as possible in the design of this lodge, using old scaffold boards and by repurposing fittings and furniture – even putting a lovely slipper bath back into service!

Strong site wide wifi allows you to stay in touch when you need to, but we hope that you will be so relaxed and inspired by sitting over our pond along with the spectacular views beyond that you’ll decide not to bother.

En suite facilities are a new feature here, and add to the convenience and luxury on offer.

Safari tent holidays in the New Forest — ancient woodland, winding walks, charming villages.

After you’ve made your morning coffee, step on your safari tent’s private decking and say ‘hi’ to your neighbours — the New Forest native ponies!

Step off park and you’re immediately immersed in over 150 square miles of world-famous forest and heathland, with woodland walks, local taverns and fun-filled attractions around absolutely every corner. Hire one of our bikes and head out into nature!

The Bolderwood Radnor Trail takes you through ancient and ornamental woodland, passing gorgeous hardwood trees dating back to the 19th century. For a relaxing stroll, head out and try the Burley Village Walk. A quintessential little New Forest gem, with tea rooms, gift shops and art galleries.

In search of history? Calshot Castle might whet your whistle — an artillery fort constructed by Henry VIII in the 16th century. If you’re a fan of charming little villages or motor vehicles, a trip to Beaulieu should be high up your list, too. Their National Motor Museum is a day out itself!

For fun-filled family adventure, the New Forest Water Park might be worth a visit, with wakeboarding, an aqua park, kayaks and fun inflatables.

There’s just so much — too much! — to do when you book a luxury safari tent holiday with a hot tub. When you’re with us on-park, be sure to ask our team members for their recommendations.

Then there’s historic Hayle, a 15 minute drive away, with its Paradise Park, as well as a selection of incredible, dog-friendly beaches.

If you're looking for a family day trip that's even closer to ours, Cornish Trevaskis Farm is 5 minutes up the road. With animals to see and a 'pick your own' to enjoy, it doesn't get much more rural Cornwall than this.

There's so much on our doorstep just waiting to be explored. Our team are all based locally so don't be shy, ask them for their recommendations. We promise that they're friendly!

There are loads of great bases for hot tub holidays in the Midlands.

Further east, you’ll find Nottingham, famous for its association with Robin Hood and its lively nightlife. The city offers a mix of historic charm and modern amenities, with plenty of bars, restaurants and cultural attractions such as Nottingham Castle to explore.

Heading west, the historic city of Coventry offers a more tranquil setting. Known for its medieval cathedral and thriving arts scene, Coventry is perfect for those seeking a blend of history and culture.

If you’re someone who prefers the countryside, the Cotswolds are a quintessential English destination. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is dotted with charming villages, rolling hills and picturesque cottages.

Towns like Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and Cheltenham, famous for its elegant Regency architecture and horse racing festival, offer a perfect blend of culture and relaxation when you want to venture out for a day.

Further north, the Peak District National Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. With its rugged landscapes, scenic walking trails and quaint villages, it’s an ideal destination for hiking, cycling and exploring the great outdoors. And there are some great pubs for a nice meal or a quiet drink, too.
